I woke up and I felt horrible. I had a horrible headache and I was nauseous. My muscles ached. God why did I drink, I'm such a fucking idiot. Suddenly I noticed that I wasn't alone in my bed. I roll over and see my brother laying next to me. "J-Jonathan?" "Yeah buddy?" He says, half asleep. "Why are you in my bed…?" He sits up and looks at me. "Because I walked into your room and saw you passed out next to an empty whiskey bottle." He says. "I- don't tell mom please " I look at with pleading eyes. Last thing i need is my mom on my ass because i was stupid and drank once. "Why did you do it..?" He asks. "I was hurting and I saw mom drinking when she was stressed so i thought…" I trailed off. Jonathan's eyes softened. He hugged me tight. "If you ever feel like that again, come to me. If I'm at work, you know my work number, I'll come home immediately…i have one question." "What is it…?" I ask. "What...was making you hurt?" Jonathan asks me with a concerned look on his face. Should I tell him? Would he understand? I clear my throat as I start talking. "Y-You know how Jane...is dating Mike right?" Jonathan nods as I continue talking. "Well I...like Mike and it's hard seeing him with Jane. I know I'll never get a chance he's too perfect for me, he would never like a dirry queer like me-" Jonathan cut me off by grabbing my hand. He had a stern expression as he began speaking. "Will, you're speaking nonsense! I never want to hear you call yourself that again, you hear me!? You're sweet, caring and the nicest person I know! There's nothing wrong with you. If people can't see that, it's their problem." At this point we both had tears in our eyes. "Thank you Jonathan." He just got up and walked to the door. "You should go get something to eat, that's what I'm doing." I let out a wet laugh. "There is no way I'm getting up anytime soon. I feel like shit." Jonathan laughed. "That's a hangover for ya." "I Love you Jonathan, thank you for helping." Jonathan smiled. " I love you too." He walked out of the room and I smiled. I have the best brother ever. My stomach turns and my head starts to hurt more. I close my eyes and think of the most important people in my life.

             At school the next day

Will walks down the hallway, he's tired as ever but his hangover is gone. He opens his locker and gets his math books out and puts his English ones back in. Something slams into the locker right next to him. He jumps and looks over and sees Troy Walsh and Sarah Valo making out. His nose scrunches up in disgust. He sees Mike and Lucas talking by Lucas's locker. Mike is wearing a very flattering outfit. He is wearing a nice button up and khakis and his hair is slicked back. Today is spring picture day and Mike's mom makes him take them every year. Will walks up to Lucas and Mike. "Hey man! We were just talking about you! Did you hear that Jennifer Hayes still has a crush on you? It's crazy!" Wills eyes grow wide. He notices Mike looks kind of...jealous? No, that can't be right. "Really? That's weird." Will laughs slightly. "Well, do you like her or not?" Lucas asks. "No, I don't. I mean she's nice and all but she's not really...my type." Lucas groans. "Then what is your type? You've never even dated a girl, man!" Will looked at Mike, he seemed very interested in the situation. "I don't know man…Not her?" Mike snorts which causes Will to laugh as well. At that moment the bell rings for recess. (Where I live, there is no recess in middle or high school but I need a moment where they can talk lol).

"Sorry guys, I gotta go. I have basketball tryouts for next year." With that Lucas walked away, leaving Will and Mike alone. "You look nice Mike." Will smiled slightly. Mike's face flushed pink. "Thank you. You look good too." Will laughs and looks at his outfit. "How? I'm wearing hand-me -downs from Jonathan." Mike smiles. "I think you look nice in anything." Will turns redder than a tomato and smiles at Mike. "Thank You. You do too." They just stood there smiling at eachother. Suddenly Jane bursts through the door. She has been doing a class that is for catching people up that haven't learned everything yet and need to be ready for the next year. Mike looks away immediately and his genuine smile falters as Jane places a kiss on his lips. "Hey El." "Hi Mikey." She hugs him. Will can't help but be jealous. He loves his sister, he really does. He wants her to be happy. So he walks away with a small smile. He is willing to sacrifice his own happiness for his sisters. He hopes Mike and her are going to be happy forever.

to be real for a second, i think there is a moment in the show where mike has a ~realization~ of sorts about his feelings but hasn't quite put two and two together yet.... and it's this:

this realization of "hey my feelings for will are actually maybe different than my feelings for my other friends, but i'm not sure why" happens at the end of season two. and then mike spends the entirety of season three acting sort of strange and different around will while having his relationship with him constantly juxtaposed with his relationship with el. reaching the end of that season which, despite all the supernatural shit going on, took the time to focus so heavily on those two relationships (and how fundamentally different they are), and having mike have the same realization he had at the end of season two makes no sense because it would mean he accomplished absolutely nothing in his emotional arc during the course season three

especially to claim that he still believes he has feelings for el going into season 4. especially to claim he still believes he has feelings for el by the end of season 4. it's to claim that he has not made any emotional progress in his relationships for at least two full seasons, that he's been going through all of this for it to not have made any conscious impact on him, and the changes in the way he acts from s2-3 and from s3-4 aren't a product of his character developing (growing, changing, to quote hopper's letter) but rather..... ? i don't know actually. just him feeling weird but not understanding himself at all. still. it just doesn't make sense to me. he's one of the main characters of the show, and to keep him emotionally stagnant for 4 out of 5 seasons (especially when we can see that his behavior is changing, that he has not been stagnant at all but rather deeply affected by everything) would be a disservice to his character, first of all, but also a disservice to the narrative which has been showing us his (as well as the other characters') struggle with growing up and growing into himself every season. and it simply doesn't align with what we're being shown

mike is already having realizations by the end of season two. but by the end of season three, he's starting to be really honest with himself about what they mean

Steve cannot believe this. He is humiliated on an entirely new level. He has fought literal MONSTERS and looked death in the eye more times than he is comfortable to count and yet... and yet here is is. Fighting a literal child. How did he even get here?

Steve takes a deep breath, opens his fridge and takes out 2 soda cans. He slowly makes his way back to his living room where everyone is watching some movie that he hasn't even payed attention to because he has been too busy glaring at a kid. He really should be ashamed, but more than anything he is irritated.

Steve's main pain point in life is one Mike Wheeler. This kid is doing ANYTHING within his power to get him as far away from Eddie as possible. Steve already knew that he wasn't Mike's favorite person but still... this was beyond ridiculous.

Steve had originally planned for a movie night with Eddie and Eddie ALONE. But somehow, it suddenly turned into a movie night with the entire party. He heard from Dustin's loose lips that Eddie had made an off comment about today and suddenly Mike had invited everyone over. Eddie had actually looked sheepish about it. He didn't want to impose on Steve like this, but once the gremlins had something in their head it was impossible to get them to stop. Hence why literally everyone was now piled up on the Harrington living room. Steve understood of course, he has had his fair share of ruined plans thanks to the kids, he couldn't blame Eddie. He knew perfectly well whose fault it was. Still, he tried to make the best of it. He could still pull some moves right? It was dark, they would be in close quarters, and during a scary movie?? Perfect scenario to get some of the ol' Harrington charm on. So as casually as he could, he started getting everyone seated, leaving him and Eddie on the loveseat at the back. And at first, it was great. Eddie would get reaaaally close, little comments leaving his mouth that lingered on Steve's cheek, he was so close. God he had missed this feeling so much. The quick heart rate, the tingling on his skin where their arms met, the butterflies on his stomach.. even the hot flush that took over his neck when Eddie winked at him after a particularly lewd comment. He was about to make the typical douche move and put his arm behind the couch when... "Steve" ... "Steve!" "What!?" "I'm hungry" "Go get some snacks then Wheeler" "I don't want to touch something that i'm not supposed to dude" Steve sighed deeply, rolling his eyes before getting up to the kitchen. He might as well make some for everyone right? He quickly got some pop corn and some chips into bowls and walked out of the kitchen, everyone still enraptured by the movie. Everyone but Mike Wheeler. Who had moved from his place on the puppy pile on the floor, to HIS place next to Eddie. "Wheeler, come take your food" "Can't you just pass it over?" "You're in mi seat..." "What are you? 12?" "Aren't you??" "SHHHHHHH! Shut up man we're trying to watch something here!!" Both of them cringed and apologized quickly. Steve looked back to Mike who was now watching Eddie with huge eyes and a faint blush on his cheeks. The reaction was immediate: irritation, jealousy and incredulity. The little shit really had gotten Steve out of Eddie's vicinity, taken Steve's place thinking what?? that he had a shot?? or was he just lowering Steves chances??? Just when Steve thought this could not get worse, he was not internally cursing a child for being next to his crush, he wasn't... ..the little shit had the absolute audacity to smirk at him??? while slowly leaning onto Eddies shoulder at that?!? Oh. Oh no. Oh now it was ON.

The thing about the fall of the house of usher is that like. I think Mike Flanagan is a great character writer but... somehow maybe not a very good horror writer? Which I know is an insane take given his body of work but like. He's great with suspense, but when that tension finally breaks, at least in Usher, it tends to feel kind of... stupid rather than scary.

Which means you're watching all of these interesting, horrible people play off of one another in excellent ways, portrayed by excellent actors, as they unerringly make their ways towards extremely obviously telegraphed and kind of stupid deaths.

The man literally used the tesseract to go mongolia in the first five minutes of the show. The same tesseract that can take you to any part of the universe of your own choosing and he chose to go to a random place on earth where everyone knows who he is. As though he didn’t just try to take over the planet with an out-of-space army and his face wasn’t all over the news. Extremely loki-like to go and try to hide out on a planet on which everyone knows him instead of going to some remote private hide out only he knows about. Also very loki-like to just open up the tesseract portal in the air, like hundreds of meters above the ground for no reason at all lol.
