When Rahul Raichand said,
"Na Lucknow da kurta, na pathani salwar,
Mard vo hai jo dil de, varna hai bekaar"
Tumblr media
And that, my friends, was when the "unrealistic" benchmark that no man yet has been able to attain was set.

Kjo peaked in k3g. That's it. Now he just tries to recreate that charm with every movie but alas the actors are not that iconic yet. Or because we've already seen the best.
Anyway Raichands forever. They come with insane wealth and even insane emotional trauma.
Husband sushing wife. We have it. Father not caring about his son. We so have it. Youngest child ignored even when he's right behind you. Get behind me Rohan.
And then we've the sweetest romance that gets way too hot for Indian living rooms for some instances. Also Miss iconic Poo. She was so stupid 😭
Anyway I still cry when I watch Nandini running to the door when Rahul and Rohan hug. I still cry when Rahul reunites with Nandini. Basically yeah, k3g my beloved, no-one can make me hate you.

Ok imma be real Rohan from K3G deserved a murder.
First he is obviously not the favorite son and for unknown reasons his brother disappears from his life and nobody is telling him shit. His parents don't mention him and his grandmothers leave the house soon after cuz they probably couldn't bear Rahul's absence.
His mother is extremely depressed and always detached from her surroundings aka not the best person to look after a child and his other mother, the person who arguably loved him the most, DJ, is sent away with his brother.
His father is a dickhead who practices repression of emotions cuz uk it's a must toxic masculinity trait, he has literally not brought up his kids cuz if he had contributed anything apart from high expectations in parenting, his kids wouldn't be such good ppl. They wud be toxic males like him. Rahul always showed sensitivity towards his mother's plight and Rohan called him out on his shit and got slapped for it.
When the story starts Rohan is mostly growing up in a boarding school like Rahul but unlike Rahul he never gets to spend his holidays in a loving environment. Instead he gets an empty house too big for three people, absent parents cuz they are too wrapped up in their grief and grandmothers who can't stop seeing his brother in him hence a constant reminder of how Rahul's loss took everything from his childhood.
He grew up never being enough for anyone left in his life. Everyone looked at him and mourned his brother. Side note, the mommy senses of Nandini activating for Rahul but smh Rohan standing right behind her doesn't get the same AAaAaAA is lowkey funny... If you are a person like me who relates. DJ on the other hand, GOATed woman narrowed on the suspiciously red eyed dude with her old boss' name so fastttt, she didn't need anyone or anything to connect the dots. She thought I smell fkn Rohan flavored bullshit and she was right.
It is a wonder he doesn't grow up to hate Rahul. But it is very much believable that when he turns up at Rahul's house, he is viciously longing for his brother's love and puts up with his overprotective rudeness. That hug at the end of Bole Chudiya fucking breaks me, there was such longing on his face for his family, it was so fkn heartbreaking. I think that's what Rahul saw on his face and pulled him in for a hug. He probably thought that the random guy who Poo won't stop hitting on is missing his family not knowing that he is the family Rohan has been craving for years.
Also the weight loss????? I know some ppl who have had that transformation from child to adult but fight me, Rohan "laddoo" Raichand underwent that cuz of stress taking physical form.
And then of course is the failed attempts at reuniting his family. The first attempt ends with a slap when he points out that Yashvardhan Raichand is a dick. Second attempt only succeeds cuz Poo his bestie also begs Rahul to come back for just a few moments. As if it wasn't obvious that Rahul had given his place to Poo. If anything Poo had a place in his heart that Rohan could never have cuz he became her second father figure. Rahul has a favorite child and it's not his brother, FOR UNDERSTANDABLE REASONS, but man it has to suck for Rohan.
Rahul comes back, Yash finalls caves in and gives the worst ever form of apology to Rahul. Personally Rahul shud take his London fam, his mother and brother back to UK and leave Raichand with his dumbfuck Parampara. Man made everyone suffer for ten years. Specially his wife and children.
So now Rohan is back to the family he always wanted except now they have Rahul, the favorite son, the one that was most visibly wronged, the one who will be getting a special treatment by everyone cuz he was the most obvious victim, and Rohan is back to being the background. Honestly at this point Anjali and DJ are the only ones who are gonna give him attention. And one is his nanny who wud want to live with her daughter for some time and other is his sister in law who has many responsibilities.
So yeah I support Rohan rights and also Rohan wrongs. Go murder your father babe. Dickhead destroyed your life and left you with numerous insecurities and inferiority issues. You became the therapy child with nobody acknowledging your trauma cuz it wasn't visible enough. As if solving your parent's issues emotional and personal isn't a giant red flag of unhealthy upbringing
Tumblr media
P. S I really don't ship Poo and Rohan, like come on you set up a romance like Rahul and Anjali's, you give that standard for love. And then the next couple is reduced to childhood besties that are still act like KIDS cuz uk he just passed out from school. They gave amazingggg bestie partner in crime vibes but not romance dude

Thinking about how in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Rahul probably knows Pooja better than he does Rohan by the second half of the wedding, since he's practically raised her, and in some ways Pooja is a connection for Rohan to get to know his elder brother again, and in the Mahabharata, after the exile, Arjuna knows Uttara, his dancing student, better than his son Abhimanyu (who was two when his father left), and Abhimanyu marrying Uttara is a way for him to get closer to his father.

In our last blog entry, we mentioned how Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapur had charmed the audience through their on screen chemistry even in a poorly scripted film like Yaadein. However, it was as Rohan and Poo that they truly sizzled onscreen. Who can forget the heat in 'You are my Sonia'. Unfortunately (again), they did not get a better film to do so. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham or K3G as it is more popularly known, was at the most, a mediocre film, often bordering on the ridiculous.
It was a predictable story of damaged relationships and their healing in an ultra rich family (Amitabh Bachchan's character talked about buying more helicopters, for God's sake). By the way, did anyone understand what business the Raichands actually did? In that case, please do let us know. Also, wasn’t it just cute that Rahul Raichand (SRK) walked away from home with literally nothing and ended up owning a huge bunglow in London, of all places, ten years later? If only all of us were so fortunate with regards to money!
Also, why would anyone dance on the streets of London to Vande Mataram when they were supposed to be heartbroken at having just found out about the long term estrangement of a beloved brother from the family? Oh wait! Of course, it was Karan Johar's way of showing off just how amazing HRITHIK can look. So, no complaints there! Yes, we accept, we are shallow! NOT ASHAMED!!🤪
Please excuse us for the above paragraphs; K3G did have some genuinely good moments, and most of them involved our man! For instance, the scene where Rahul met the grown up Rohan for the first time was well done, and all credit belonged to the actors. Both Shahrukh and Hrithik were perfect in portraying the inner turmoil that each other felt. Rohan's moments with his DJ (Farida Jalal) were also heartwarming, and far more natural than the over the top Nandini-Rahul scenes. The scene between Rohan and Yashvardhan in which Yash slapped his son is our personal favourite. It must have taken a lot of courage for a young actor like Hrithik to do that scene with someone like Mr. Bachchan! And he was excellent, never once going over the board in it.
The Rohan-Poo moments, however, were the most entertaining bits of the film along with the parts where the two brothers bonded. A special mention for Kareena Kapoor- it was not easy to play someone as irritating as Poo and make her funny and genuinely sweet. So well done Bebo! Hrithik and Kareena's on screen chemistry was truly at its peak in this film. Kareena had never looked so stunning and Hrithik was at his sexiest. They should have been given more screen time and space in K3G. The scene before the prom in which Rohan pointed out that Poo was wearing the wrong shoes was a testimony to the magic these two brought when they came together on screen. It was hot, sexy and hilarious at the same time. We thank Karan Johar for coming up with some great unconventional romantic sequences between them.
On another note, we thought Rohan went to London to persue MBA. At least, that was what he told his father. Instead, we saw him going to college in super luxurious cars (no wonder Rahul asked him to sleep in one), sing, dance, play rugby, confess his love for Poo at the prom night, and finally get married! Of course, he did bring the family together. So, bravo ROHAN! Nevertheless, guess MBA really took a backseat, ha? For God's sake Karan! At least, you should have shown him carry a book! But perhaps, we ought not to expect all this from a Karan Johar movie which usually is all about escapism.
Despite all its flaws, K3G has a special place in our hearts, not just because of Hrithik-Kareena's terrific chemistry, but also because this was the first Hrithik Roshan movie that we, 'Brinda' and 'Neer' went to see together at the theatre! Who knew we would end up becoming soul sisters and writing blogs about him years later. Thank you Hrithik for playing such an important role in our friendship, and hence, our lives. We owe you so much.♥️🤗On that note, bye readers.
Hopefully, you are enjoying reading our blogs as much as we are having fun writing them. We are extremely thankful to the entire Hrithik Roshan fandom for accepting us with open arms and showering us with so much love and warmth in such a short time. Lots of love to all of you. We will be back soon with the next one.

5 HCs AU where Rahul (and/or the rest of the family) gives two middle fingers to his class-obsessed, emotionally abusive father.
Oof, pass on this one, not because it’s not justified (oh god. Yash Raichand is the worst), but because TBH, I turned K3G off after Nandini and Rahul meet again and pretend it ends there, but Rahul and Rohan liberating their mom* from their horrid dad, and all of them living happily in London. That really wouldn’t even be an AU for me, but the canon of my heart.
*OK in fairness, Nandini has some sketchy moments, too--the most egregious is when she....apparently expects her children’s ex-nurse to completely uproot her life, leave behind her newly married daughter, and go to London because....Nandini says so? (Like. guys. Please. At least, IDK, have Daijaan follow them because she promised Anjali and Pooja’s dead father that she would raise them, or something, not because her employer demands it of her. WTH?)
