4/14/2024: Happy birthday, Joss!

April is a busy month for doll birthdays. Rebecca's and Addy's (and a couple of the girls we don't have yet) were earlier in the month, and Molly's is coming up. Today, though, we're (and the other modern girls, and a dog [possibly the scruffiest imaginable Wheaten Terrier Puppy] that we named Parker Posey because she poses, not realizing that there's a canonical dog named Barker Posey) celebrating Joss!

Joss herself is wearing the dress and shoes from the Sparkle and Shine outfit; Kanani is wearing Lea's Meet dress (which she came to us in) and some blue and pink flats that I cannot for the life of me figure out which outfit they came from; Luciana is wearing her Meet Outfit; May is wearing an outfit by dollcatwalk on Etsy; Corinne is wearing the Weekend Fun Outfit II; Kavi is wearing her Meet Outfit.

Kavi Thoughts

Her doll is making me like the MG mold- the dark eyes kind of mitigate the staring effect MG molds often have.

I wish she’d had a darker skin tone especially given that her family is illustrated with a tone darker than hers.

I like the inclusion of her lying to her parents and having to face consequences.

I like the inclusion of ADHD, whether diagnosed or not.

Not a huge fan of the classic Friendship Fight, just because it’s overdone, but the solution they find is cool! This one seems to be about the three girls not agreeing on a revue routine, and it settles (judging by the illustration) with Sophie, who does not know Bollywood dance like Kavi and Pari, adding a hip hop routine. I think we’ll see Kavi and Pari getting excited about the routine and then realizing they’re leaving out their friend who doesn’t know the dance/is a different culture, and going “well we’ll do a fusion!”, but that’s a guess.

I like her collection. There’s not a ton of color continuity but hey, we can’t all be Mia and McKenna. The collection isn’t my personal style or something I’d buy for my dolls, but at this point that’s a good thing.

I like that she’s from New Jersey! I saw the Broadway sign in the catalog leaks and I was dreading yet another New Yorker.

A journal is a cool meet book style. I don’t think I’d like it for a historical, but for a GOTY, I’m all in.

I don’t like her meet pants or shoes. The shirt is great, though.

I am concerned about the quality of the Bollywood dance costume. We’ve seen in the past that unusual fabrics and textures often shed and stain. Hopefully that’s sorted, but I would be wary if I bought it.

The pajama slippers are incredible and I love them.

1/28/2024: Some Jammie January snapshots!

Addy (in her canon nightgown) and Melody (in her canon pajamas) are both pretty new here at Saint Alecto's, but they're getting on famously. They're playing with Melody's dog Bo and chatting cheerfully.

Addy was rewigged using a Bbeauty Dolls wig, since when she came to us her hair wasn't in the best shape.

Courtney (in an AG-brand camisole and shorts made by @incomprehensiblelentils' mother) is absolutely thrilled to meet (another new addition to the group) Molly (in her canon pajamas). After all, Molly is her favorite! (Molly is absolutely tickled to be someone's favorite.)

Josefina (in her canon night shift) and new girl Kavi (in the 2011 Sweetheart Pajamas) are enjoying spending time with Corinne (in the 2002 Snowflake Satin PJs) and Corinne's pup Flurry. Nothing fancy, just gals and a dog.

My sister and I were reminiscing about the Farsala Trilogy the other day - seriously, if you follow this blog for any of my other fandoms give this one a try.

I could tell you it’s about how truth becomes legend, or about how any cause is only as good or evil as the people fighting for it, OR I could just tell you there’s this awesome mule named Ducky who’s best friends with ducks and she saves the day. All three excellent arguments for reading this trilogy. So give it a try and join the fandom! I promise all three of us are super nice lol.
