Let’s Talk About That Guy Who Transmigrated to Pursue Me ( 谈谈那个穿进书里来追我的家伙 ) by 莫晓贤 (Mo Xiao Xian)

Wen Xuan, head disciple and all-around admirable guy, meets Jian Yi, a suspiciously talented younger fellow disciple who swears that all he wants to do is take care of Wen Xuan. A yandere transmigrates into the novel of their obsession in hopes of changing the other’s tragic fate. 

A quick read, although the ending feels a bit rushed. The focus is very much on Wen Xuan’s adventures and his character development. There is a larger world out there, but Wen Xuan is only a minor character in the original story and Jian Yi is determined to keep Wen Xuan out of any of the danger, ultimately to both of their detriment.

While Jian Yi wins Wen Xuan’s trust, he never truly trusts Wen Xuan in return, manipulating him, lying to him, keeping him in the dark until the very last moment. While Wen Xuan took a while to see it, the reader can tell right away that Jian Yi has Tendencies, and those Tendencies become more and more violent as his actions go ignored, explained away, and unchecked.

There is a resolution and a happy ending. Wen Xuan realizes that while Jian Yi did him great harm, he still cares for him. As for Jian Yi, he comes to terms with his yandere issues and is able to take a step towards healing from his past hangups and growing as a person the same way Wen Xuan was able to.

Sakura Matou:

She has been experimented on, tortured and abused since she was a child, a character broke down after experiencing a single day in Sakura's life. Literally her only lifeline in this world is her senpai Shirou, whom she fell in love with because of his determination. She visited his house every day to help with chores to the point Shirou gave her a key. She is only happy when she's with her senpai, any other time she's gloomy and people avoid her.

In her route she sleeps with Shirou (making her an actual senpai fucker) in an act that reclaims her agency over her body. Also on this route, she's being possessed by All The World's Evil and if Shirou agrees that is best to kill her, Sakura completely gives up and lets herself be killed. But if Shirou doesn’t agree she fights to stay alive despite her massive suicidal ideation, but this also make her emotions more unstable, eventually leading her to be fully corrupted and she turns completely yandere over Shirou. Eventually Shirou saves her at the cost of his body and Sakura resolves to wait for her senpai. In the true ending they get to have a life together, in the normal ending Sakura would wait for him her whole living, still living at his home and planting flowers.
