Hey you, come to my book launch on Saturday the 19th of November in London. It's free entry, everyone welcome, you just need to sign up here.
The book is a kind of alternate history: what if the familiar great artists had painted dinosaurs? There's 50 (yes fifty!) new never-before-seen paintings inside, and it will be out on Amazon in late Novemeber.

Join me for Katia Plant Scientist's *first* live and in-person public event - "The World of Seeds" Branch Out workshop at the Garden Museum of London!
Learn about the biology of seeds while gaining hands-on experience setting up seed germination and planting seeds. As well as gaining useful knowledge on seed evolution and anatomy, you will take home up to four pots of vegetables and herbs to grow in your own windowsill or garden at home. The workshop will also include an exhibition of exotic seeds from around the world from the museum's historic collections.
Join me at the Garden Museum's Clore Learning Space on Thursday May 9th, 2024, at 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The workshop is appropriate for adults and kids aged 8 or older. We can accommodate around 20 people at the workshop, and it is "first come, first served". Participation in the workshop is included with admission to the museum. The Garden Museum is well worth a look for plant lovers of all ages, so make sure to budget time to check out the exhibits and gardens at the venue.

Book Events this Spring
Buds are swelling, birds are singing, and book events are popping up like daffodils … Here are some upcoming dates if you find yourself on this side of the Atlantic:
NOW to 23 March – Exhibition of ‘making of’ artwork at Jam Bookshop, 21a Hackney Rd, London A lot of the artwork from my show at The Polar Museum last summer, presented in a wonderful artisan bookshop specialising in carefully curated fiction and comics.
Wednesday, 8 March – Livestream event with Ink@84 Books 20:00 GMT/15:00 EST/12:00 PST/09:00 NZDT (9 March) Accessible globally, just sign up via the website linked above and tune in. If you can’t make it live, then sign up anyway and you’ll get access to the recording. Interview with the artist (sadly the author cannot attend) demonstration of what goes into making a graphic novel, and Q&A.
Thursday, 23 March – Signing at Jam Bookshop, 18:00 GMT, 21a Hackney Rd, London I will be there! In person! To sign your book! You are welcome to bring a pre-loved copy, but if you haven’t bought one already, please support Jam and buy one there.
Saturday, 13 May – Lecture and Drawing Workshop at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich I will give a rundown of the Terra Nova Expedition and the making of the graphic novel, followed by a workshop in which we learn to do observational sketches like an old-fashioned explorer.
And of course, if you're wondering where to acquire a copy of Vol.1 for your very own, no matter where you are, there is a constantly updating list of vendors on worstjourney.com.

Check out this exciting event from the The Linnean Society of London!
From the event page:
Please consider a donation. Your donations, big or small, go a long way in helping us deliver our nature-related outreach programme. Thank you!
As a child, Chris Thorogood dreamed of seeing Rafflesia - the plant with the world's largest flowers. He crafted life-size replicas in an abandoned cemetery, carefully bringing them to life with paper and paint. Today he is a botanist at the University of Oxford's Botanic Garden and has dedicated his life to studying the biology of such extraordinary plants, working alongside botanists and foresters in Southeast Asia to document these huge, mysterious blooms.
Pathless Forest is the story of his journey to study and protect this remarkable plant - a biological enigma, still little understood, which invades vines as a leafless parasite and steals its food from them. We join him on a mind-bending adventure, as he faces a seemingly impenetrable barrier of weird, wonderful and sometimes fearsome flora; finds himself smacking off leeches, hanging off vines, wading through rivers; and following indigenous tribes into remote, untrodden rainforests in search of Rafflesia's ghostly, foul-smelling blooms, more than a metre across.
We depend on plants for our very existence, but two in five of the world's species are threatened with extinction - nobody knows how many species of Rafflesia might already have disappeared through deforestation. Pathless Forest is part thrilling adventure story and part an inspirational call to action to safeguard a fast-disappearing wilderness. To view plants in a different way, as vital for our own future as for that of the planet we share. And to see if Rafflesia itself can be saved.
Chris Thorogood is a botanist and lecturer at the University of Oxford, where he holds the position of Deputy Director and Head of Science at Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum, and a Visiting Professor at the University of the Philippines. His research focuses on the evolution of parasitic and carnivorous plants, taxonomic diversity in biodiversity hotspots around the world, and biomimetics - exploring the potential applications of plants in technology. An author and broadcaster, he makes regular appearances on TV and radio and is also an award-winning botanical illustrator and wildlife artist. Obsessed with plants, he is on a mission to make us see them differently, and realize how we, they, and our planet, are all connected.
