Is it just me, or is the writing of the new Percy Jackson show kind of brilliant? Especially when you compare it to the original books.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the books a lot, and I'm not trying to tear them down. But the actual structure of the books involves a lot of the kids just sort of bumbling from one greek myth to another.
As you get Percy's POV a lot of the fun of those scenes is figuring out which greek myth is playing out - but in the show they recognise this right off the bat, which allows them to dive a little deeper.
So instead of spending time figuring out that Aunty Em is Medusa, they immediately make the connection and instead the story focuses on whether or not Medusa is actually a villain.
And the amount of characterization they've built into each monster encounter is *chefs kiss* they've made them all so personal to our trio of heroes.
I've rarely seen a book-to-screen adaption that succeeded in adding to the depth of the original story like this and I'm so here for it!
one thing no one tells u about being a wheelchair user is that if you’re anything like me you will probably need like 3 wheelchairs. and yes that means triple the expense, triple the storage, triple the hassle. my best chair is my powerchair, and in my ideal world i’d take it everywhere but it can’t manage slopes steeper than 7 degrees, or rainy weather, or kerbs. so on rainy days or at places with sloped driveways, i have to take my manual wheelchair instead, which is annoying because someone else has to push me, but hey, at least it can tolerate rain and slopes. HOWEVER! the manual chair can’t manage nature. so if i go anywhere that has grass or dirt paths, i have to bring my outdoor manual chair, which is much tougher - but! the outdoor chair is bulky and can’t fit through a lot of doorways.
i only leave my room for a couple of hours a week and yet i still need 3 wheelchairs to cover all variables. this is wild to me. why isn’t there a chair that just works. maybe ive got my head in the clouds
other variables - you can get tougher powerchairs which can do outdoor terrain, BUT, those types of chairs are never foldable and they often weigh over 100lbs. my powerchair needs to be foldable and VERY light (under 50lbs) because it has to be possible for my carer to lift it into our car by hand bc we don’t own an accessible van - yet another variable. unless your chair is foldable and liftable, you will need a modified vehicle. you can’t have a strong chair and a normal car. it never ends bro
Was originally gonna post for the selfshiptember prompt day but im impatient and I love how this turned out >_< anyways here’s me with my m.etalocalypse besties of all time!!
Reading the locked tomb for the first time and holy shit... John Gaius is such a fucking liar, the audacity to say that Saints were named for their cavaliers. The steel balled resolve and dedication to that lie. Like Gideon the saint of duty didn't carry an armed fucking nuke to Australia for him!!! And then! And then!!! To ridicule Mercymorn for wanting to hold her name private from Harrow, when John motherfucking Gaius can't even force himself to recall their names beyond the initials while he's spilling his sorry guts to Harrow!!!! The hypocrisy! I am consumed!!
My partner and I got a hotel room to celebrate new years and have *sexy times* but I ended up having a flare and he just spent the night holding me and rubbing my sore spots and applying my pain creams. My usual meds and creams weren't working so it was a very painful night and I was upset that I ruined our romantic night but he just held me close and reassured me we didn't have to do anything if it was too much for me right now. He also took me out to an expensive brunch place after to cheer me up I love him so much.
