personality:

on the surface, this first-year student is a quiet youth who keeps to himself unless asked. the shell he crafts for others is built via careful manners and a calm disposition. and, for the most part, he crafts it in earnest. ken amada is a textbook example of someone made to grow up too fast. his level-headedness was built out of necessity and a desire to be taken seriously in the absence of others’ belief. he excels in his studies and towards the interests that matter to him most; few others’ determination can rival his own. he can handle solitude and quiet and finds a home in it in prayer. he is perceptive of both other people and animals alike. with all this, he can give off the impression of being a separate person entirely, and of someone far older than in truth.

but the most defining facet of ken amada’s character is that he is a child through and through, even if he would never admit it. he adores tokusatsu, tropey detectives, and vigilantes from comic books. his first pet and his dearest is named impulsively after fast food, and black coffee makes him sick. but ken is no more than nine years and some when his traumas compound, and a lack of belief from others towards what is perceived as childish delusions of grief distances him and forces him to mold into someone new simply to desire to survive. he has been starved of love through years of being on his own in early childhood and starved as purpose for just as long. history mars ken’s life by an irreparable tragedy of adolescence and the inability to act his age. he pushes down what he loves most in the name of others’ respect, hiding it until it bursts out of his chest, starry-eyed and passionate, and apologizing when he buries it in the earth. he undercuts his own determination by a morality built on the monologues of showstopper heroes and the mortal holders of death notes. even then, he despises being called a child and treated as lesser when he still has the face, voice, demeanor, and mind of one. he hates being pitied by those around him in the way that all “unfortunate children” are: as someone with nothing left for him and as someone with no one left to love him. and, more than any other belief, he hates the shared irresponsibility and immaturity of adults who have more power than him.

no matter what he does, ken amada is the youngest member of the persona 3 protagonist’s team, the most naïve, and the one to fall into the pitfalls of childish limits. but is that not what the rest of his life is for? indeed, four years have eroded the lining of a black-and-white morality, though they have hardly touched his flights of heroism. they have not fixed all his flaws nor let him forget and flee to a childhood innocence long lost, but they have given him a second chance to see life for what it is, and to accept what made it worth living so many years before. amada can only hope in that childish, starry-eyed view of the world that that outlook is the kind that would make past ghosts proud.

something your muse struggles with: being useful, being wanted, and being seen as one’s own. belonging, and feeling worth it to be kept around. though told to live his life for himself, ken veers elsewhere, compelled by a strong sense of justice and a vie to avoid old days of purposelessness. with regard to himself, ken hates being looked down on and scrutinized as a burden, and he will do all that he can to project himself as anything but.

your muse’s greatest strength: to persevere, whatever the obstacle; to rise from the ashes and move forward, and to never be trapped looking back. although someone who has lived his formative years in the fading shadows of others’ memories, he’s since learned to carry them with him over drown by his remembrance. the losses he’s suffered will never necessarily leave him because they do not need to, and his life is an example of that which continues in spite of their weight.

history / background:

it’s late at night. you’re a child, and you and your mom are laughing. there’s a little cage in a cardboard box that’s large in your arms, and there’s a hamster chittering inside. you race your mom to the front door and reach it first, taking the brunt of the impact for running side-first. but you’re laughing, and your mom is, too, and it all drifts away. you cook hamburgers over the countertop with her, and you end the day happy. it could be the two of you and your newfound friend forever, and you would never mind. this is a memory you’ll never forget.

it’s late at night. your name is ken amada, and you are alone in the remnants of the living room. the full face of the moon leers overhead and drips a sickly glow. the torn-out page of the calendar reads: the 4th of october, 2007. your mother’s blood is on the corner. a twice-made shadow looms over her, dissipates into the light, and the screams of strangers fade in the flight of a murderer. you’re the only one left in the rubble. your mother is dead. you remember the date and the hour and the picture. the shadows of the clouds engulf you. this is a memory you can never forget.

in the morning, they tell you she died in a car accident. but you know better. stretches of the world shrink between your fingertips. you go to school in the same breath, and the world there weeps for you. then the world buries the memory of your mom and carries on, leaving her to rot and you to sink in the smell of it. you keep going to school. someone reaches out for you and hamburger and gives you a place they call home. people pay for you. people pray for you. people cry. and you dry your tears in your fists and thank them for their kindness, and you hide away your memories.

you and hamburger are alone for two years. you pray at the local shrine every day for two years, and you think of your mom there with you. breaks go by, and you return to the dorms all alone. in the middle of the afternoon, you’re moved to another dorm because the adults need to fix your loneliness for you. he has “potential”, you overhear, but it’s not as though you’ll use it anyways. you’ll only spend your life in her memory.

in the middle of the afternoon, it turns out that this potential is in your favor. it’s a hot day at the end of summer vacation, and you’re at the mall strip to buy groceries and cool off. you hear a famed student from your new living quarters talk to a stranger, and that’s when you hear something strange. your heart catches in your breath. you’re trapped under the heat and the blood left by your bones as they talk of a memory from two years ago. the stranger wants to forget. the stranger knows your dormmate. the stranger has…

in the evening, you force your way into the dorm’s operations. they can’t keep you away by the limits of sleep and information anymore. and the stranger follows you back. you tail him sometimes, and you learn who he is. you train and you train and you train. you remember her memory until it’s all that you have left, until it’s her memory and your mission in your hands, and there’s nothing for you after that.

it’s the dark hour, on the 25th hour of another full moon. the page of the dorm calendar reads: the 4th of october, 2009. you tell shinjiro aragaki to meet you on the other side of the island, and he follows. you pray to your mom, and you find her watching over you. you point your longspear at him, and you tell him you’ll kill him. your mission for revenge is at an end. your mom’s memory won’t be forgotten.

it’s the 4th of october, 2009. aragaki dies because of you, but not by your hand. he dies in his friend’s arms, surrounded by people who cry for him when he’s gone. you’re held back from his body in a hug, and you end up crying, too. your mission for revenge is at an end because there’s no one left to fulfill it. you live on anyway, and the memory of this night does, too.

this is all i’ve been living for. what was even the point?

you never get an answer. or your memory says otherwise. he tells you to live for yourself. you spend the next years trying to live up to his words. you pray, and you train, and you remember. you help save the world while you’re at it. you stay with hamburger, with koromaru, and with everyone else. you keep your memories close. and, in spite of everything, you live on.

powers / abilities:

kala-nemi. ken’s persona, an avatar representative of his heart and soul. it is most commonly drawn out through the use of an evoker. it negates attacks with an affinity to light, but is weak to attacks with an affinity to darkness. it works best as a healer and as support, using both high-healing and high-damaging skills and reinforcing them with a passive ability to restore some of its depleted resources. kala-nemi has access to the following abilities and groups of abilities:

ziodyne. part of a line of spells. deals heavy electricity-aspected damage to a single target. additionally has a chance of electrocuting, or shocking, the target.

vile assault. deals incredible physical damage to a single target, and will further damage a target that has already been knocked down. causes recoil damage upon use.

kouha spells: kougaon and makougaon. a line of spells dealing heavy light-aspected damage. kougaon affects a single target, and makougaon affects multiple.

mahamaon. coin flip (50% chance) to decide whether a target is killed. we will basically never be using this in group.

samarecarm and mediarahan. healing spells. samarecarm revives a single target from unconsciousness or the brink of death and heals them in full. mediarahan heals ken’s entire party in full.

various supportive buffs.

makarakarn and tetrakarn. creates a small barrier around a single target that negates a single magical or physical attack respectively.

heat riser. temporarily enhances the strength, defense, accuracy, and agility of a single target.

dekaja. negates all enhancements towards multiple targets.

spirit restore. a passive selfish buff. continuously restores mana while ken is engaged in battle.

theurgies. two powerful abilities that harness spirit and emotions accumulated in battle. (like… limit breaks for persona 3.) ken’s abilities accumulate faster in times of desperation, after being exhausted by using multiple persona abilities without recovering.

divine retribution. deals heavy light-aspected damage to one enemy, ignoring any resistances.

divine intervention. recovers multiple allies from the brink of death, heals them in full, and creates a small barrier around each that negates a single attack

inherent abilities:

he’s good at soccer. he’s also agile for a kid.

he’s also really good at taking care of animals.

he can brew coffee.

items / weapons: 

evoker. a model gun with no bullets inside. non-functional as a real weapon, but is instead used symbolically to amplify a stress response and draw out one’s persona. it’s collecting dust bunnies.

cross-shaped spear. a long spear. a larger straight blade and two side blades which curve upwards are attached at the anterior end. this is collecting dust, too.

hamburger. a pet hamster who has been by ken’s side for six years. according to my twitter followers and my wife, he is immortal.

koromaru. an old albino shiba inu. like, old old. wears an old orange jacket that ken used to wear and is now too small for him. he could summon a persona if he wanted to, too. he’s so cool.

phoenix ranger featherman r action figure. a years-long possession surely obtained by chance and lucky raffle tickets. it’s not prized, but it’s certainly well-kept. surely that’s all.

silver key. an old house key for the former amada household. briefly given to the persona 3 protagonist and returned following their passing.

extra:

important note one/two: for this portrayal, i strictly run with the events of “the journey” from persona 3 reload (male protagonist specification because i’m still on female protagonist copium); “the answer” from persona 3 fes (likely with plans to update to reload’s dlc adaptation when it releases); and “episode p4” through the true ending from persona 4 arena ultimax, with some inferences about ken’s fate in the story drawn from “episode p3”!

that being said, while i appreciated ken being in p4au in a pretty interesting way, i (angry coughing) do have gripes with some character portrayals, including his, and i respect it if other castmates do as well… i’m running a lot more fast and loose with that aspect, and while i plan to retain ken’s characterization as depicted specifically in the games i listed, p4au included, i’m more than happy to retcon how any castmates were portrayed in p4au

important note three: i know the p5 aus are neat, but i just play ken here as going to gekkoukan high school following middle school graduation. sorry!

important note four: i base this portrayal’s abilities with his persona, kala-nemi, off of persona 3 reload because 1.) you cannot catch me using several RNG elements in roleplay and jack-of-all-trade mediocre abilities when there are better options. i already did that in 2018 i will not do it again. and 2.) ken’s theurgies fucking cooked me, dude

Submission for TSAU Tickletober: Day 18, Cheer Up

Fandom: Persona 3

Characters: Female Persona 3 Protagonist (named Minako Arisato in this), Ken Amada

Chagall’s was a relaxing place, even after two years. The subtle scent of lavender was almost enchanting, and went hand-in-hand with the toasty coffee served there. The coffee itself was exquisite, and energizing. If she could, Minako would probably be able to sit here all day without getting bored.

She was down to her third mug when the squeaking of sports sneakers, along with a call of her name, alerted her to the presence of two kids running up to her.

“Minako-san! Hey!” Daichi really didn’t have an indoor voice of any sort.

“Shush, Daichi!” His partner, Kazuki, panicked as all of the other customers stared at the two of them in surprise. “H-Hello, Minako-san.”

“You two shouldn’t run so much when it’s the smack middle of June!” Minako kindly offered them some tissue to wipe off the sweat dripping from their hair. “Hello again, Daichi-kun, Kazuki-kun.” She was glad that Ken had made friends with these two. They were good kids, even if they could be rambunctious. “With how you two came barrelling towards me, you didn’t just see me here in coincidence, did you?”

“Sharp as always, Minako-san.” Daichi took a sip from his bottle. “Kaz and I wanted to find you. We need your help.”

A sly smile pursed her lips. “Did you forget to do research for your science homework again, Daichi-kun?”

Strangely enough, the boy didn’t react to her little tease. “Not that. We wanted to find you, because you’re familiar with Ken.”

Seeing their grimaces made her a little worried. “Did... something happen?”

Kazuki had assumed a tense stance. “We did sloppy on our practice today.” Oh. “Our coach was irritated about it, more than normal.”

“Yeah. He had this fire in his eyes that could already cook all of us ten times!” Daichi shivered a little behind his partner. “Wonder what’s gotten into him.”

“Some people just have bad days, Daichi-kun. So, what happened next?”

“Well...” Daichi gulped a little. How bad was the damage? “He chewed us out. Said we had regressed. We all felt it, but Ken, he took it the worst. The moment the coach left the park, he just up and busted out of the place.”

Kazuki kicked the marble floor of the cafe, looking rather disheartened. “Couldn’t even get to talk to him before he left us in the dust.” Minako winced as she imagined Ken tearfully dashing away from his teammates. Past tragedies had caused him to keep it to himself, but often, he failed to keep his emotions successfully contained. And exams were nearing too; Ken was a smart kid, no doubt, but middle school was still a tough nut for him to crack, and the angry rantings of his coach was probably the final nail in the coffin. “We’ve tried calling him, several times, but he wouldn’t answer.”

“So what I’m thinking is,” Daichi’s expression had shifted to pensive. “Since you’re familiar with Ken, we want you to bring him to us, Minako-san.”

“Bring him to you...?” She echoed. “I don’t follow.”

Kazuki gave a laugh. “We’re not asking you to march up to his place and say ‘hey uh, your friends want to talk to you about the practice today’. He’d just slam the door in your face too. We want you to take him out to the Naganaki Shrine, make him believe that you just want to hang out with him. Then, Daichi and I will be there, ready to finally confront him and ask him where he’d been!”

“That’s quite the elaborate plan.” She mused.

A blush darkened on their cheeks, making her snicker. Kazuki had recomposed himself rather quickly, though. “Wh-What else could we do? You’re the only person we know who’s extra close to him, and he won’t respond to any of us! So... pleeeaase, Minako-san?”

Their utter failure in pulling the puppy eyes turned her snickers into full-on laughter. “You two need to get better at the puppy eyes shtick! Okay, okay, I’ll do it. I want to help Ken-kun feel better too.”

“Sweet!” Daichi, once again, cheered a little louder than he should’ve, causing eyes to be directed at them again. “It’s a Sunday tomorrow, so we have plenty of time to put the plan into action. Okay, mission BEGIN!”

“Daichi!”

17th July, Sunday

Minako had forgotten just how much taller Ken had grown. Adolescence was never this nice to her! Yukari and Fuuka had always praised Ken to be adorable back when he was living in the same dorm with them, but a chain of several growth spurts had allowed him to mature into someone she could truly call handsome. Every time she saw him, it was like he grew a little more than the last time.

As usual, teenage girls on the sidewalk fawned and whispered about “Amada-kun��, and how “charming and handsome” he was. However, those whispers were blocked out by the thunder cloud Minako could practically see hovering above Ken. She tried to strike up a conversation with him on the way to the shrine, but all he responded with was a quiet “Yes” or “Not really”. Minako had reckoned that the damage had been awful, from the way Daichi and Kazuki had described to her, but it hurt to see it with her own eyes. Despite past tragedies, Ken was still a spirited boy, even moreso after joining the soccer club. To see him so dull, it was just disheartening.

After giving a quick prayer, she decided to sit down on one of the benches at the playground right beside. Ken followed suit, although he kept his distance. “Um, thanks for inviting me out today, Minako-san.” His voice was still quiet. “I didn’t really know what to do today, so I probably would’ve been stuck in the dorms all day if you hadn’t brought me out.”

“Didn’t know what to do?” Minako decided to press the question a little bit. “You always hung out with your friends in the soccer club on weekends, though.”

His wince made her regret it. She wanted to reach out to him about this matter, but maybe she shouldn’t have jumped the gun so quickly. “Most of them said they were busy today. Homework, probably.”

“Really, huh?”

“Yeah.” The silence that came immediately after was painful. Both of them were clearly at a loss as to what to talk about. Thankfully, it didn’t last long, as two familiar boys soon marched up to them.

“Homework, huh?” Color left Ken’s cheeks as Daichi spoke. “Was that really the best lie you could whip up, Ken?”

Kazuki, however, was doing a bad job at hiding his laughter. “Even though Daichi usually does spend his Sundays rushing to complete assign-”

“SHUT UP!! You don’t have to tell that to the whole world!”

Ken wasn’t amused by their banter, however. “You-You were listening?!”

“What, that’s not normal?” Kazuki snarked. “Seriously, were you planning on ignoring us for the entire next week? We thought you’d up and disappeared, or got kidnapped by some bad guy, you know!”

“I-I was just at the dorms!”

“Then maybe tell us! We had to ask Minako-san here for help, because you were avoiding me, Kazuki and the others like the plague.” Daichi folded his arms. “Ken, you didn’t need to cop out on us like that yesterday. What the hell were you thinking?”

That made him stop in his tracks. “I just...” His voice started cracking.

Minako rubbed a hand against his back. “Take it easy, Ken.”

“I...” A sniffle escaped. “I don’t know what I was thinking. Everything just felt so heavy and I wanted out. I didn’t want to admit that our coach was right, that we’ve become worse and-”

“Hey hey hey, slow down there, bro.” Kazuki hushed him. “I know, those words hit hard. And I understand that you didn’t know why you did what you did; somedays, we just feel like the trash of the earth. But even then, don’t ignore us like that, man. We’ve got your back, and you know it.”

Minako couldn’t help feeling a little sad. Even with Mitsuru-senpai’s encouragement, Ken was still hesitant to truly connect to his friends in the soccer club. Sometimes she wondered if he would have less trouble making friends had fate been kinder to him.

Ken nodded, but his interest was the ground. “I’m sorry. I made you all worried.”

“Oh, you did. But now that we were able to find you and talk to you, it’s all cool now.” Daichi stepped closer to him. “Come on, Wild-Duck! My treat.”

“Ah, I’m not sure if I want to go right now.” Ken shifted a little in his place.

Kazuki rolled his eyes. “Come on, bro, stop being such a sourpuss. After all, didn’t the girls of our class always say you look better when you smile?” Minako suppressed a giggle at that. Ken may be, uh, worringly blind, but several female students at Gekkoukan would still fall head over heels for him.

“Ah... ahaha...” A blush swirled on Ken’s cheeks, but his laugh was empty.

Kazuki opened his mouth to say something again, but he was interrupted by Daichi, who began whispering something to him. A mischievious light was soon glinting in their eyes. Before Minako could ask them what they had schemed, Daichi suddenly ran forward and hoisted Ken up by his wrists.

“Ow! What the heck, Daichi?!”

“My turn!” Kazuki raced over and grabbed Ken’s other wrist tightly. “Smile a little bit, Ken! Or do you need some help with that?” The position Minako was sitting in made it difficult to see what Kazuki did afterwards, but it did elict a loud yelp from Ken, who blushed immediately after.

“N-No, don’t! Come on, not in front of Minako-san!”

Now Minako was interested. Ken used that tone whenever he was trying, and failing, to appear mature and “grown-up” around her and the rest of SEES, which was quite often. She wasn’t about to let this slide. “What’s the matter, Ken?”

“I-I uh-”

Kazuki didn’t give him a chance to whip up another lie. “Hey, Minako-san, watch this.” He dug his fingers right into Ken’s underarm. In response, Ken’s eyes slammed shut and another yelp escaped. “Seriously, knock it off!”

“Aww, Ken-kun, that’s so adorable!” She was sure her comment was making him even more flustered, but she didn’t care. “Yukari actually told me once that you’re super ticklish, but I’ve never had the opportunity to find out for myself.”

“Dude, he is. Like, just rub a finger over his neck and he’d double over.” Daichi chuckled at the sight of his beet red face. “Oh please, it’s nothing to be embarrassed about!”

Ken’s face contorted in mild anger. “Of course it- ghhehehe!” A giggle escaped as Kazuki trailed a finger underneath his arm again. “Knock it ohohoff!”

“Nuh-uh, bro. We’ll knock it off when you’re done acting like a sourpuss.” In response, Kazuki began to scratch his underarm for real. Daichi followed suit, drawing circles underneath the other arm.

A flurry of giggles escaped Ken before he even realized it. “Ahahahaha! No, stop it! Eeeehahaha! Stohop fooling around!”

Daichi looked at Minako and raised an eyebrow as a signal. “Try his neck, Minako-san! It’s a good spot, too!”

Minako had to hold back from teasing Ken; she didn’t want the poor boy to be flustered even more. Instead, she silently wiggled a finger over his neck. Squeaky chuckles rang out from him as he scrunched his neck in an attempt to protect it. “Minako-san, dohohon’t! Thihihis is torture!”

Holy crap, that’s so adorable! If she could, she would’ve taken out her phone to film his reaction for Yukari and Fuuka to watch later, but she decided to spare him. “Admit it, Ken-kun, you’re born this cute.”

“Cute?!” For a second, he looked flabbergasted, but any of his attempts to retort were squashed when Daichi and Kazuki dug their fingers into his underarms again. “Nooooohoho! Guys, knock it- aaahaha! Knock it off! Pleahehease! Mercy!”

“Dude, you should be thankful that it’s only the two of us right now.” Kazuki did let go, followed by Daichi, after some more tickling. Ken simply collapsed down onto the bench, squirming weakly like a fish out of water.

“You guys...” He huffed out between strained breaths. “Are evil. Pure evil. You... too, Minako-san.”

Gosh, anymore of this and Minako might just film the whole thing right now. Ken was always downright adorable the moment he let his juvenile instincts take hold of him. “At least it Yukari wasn’t here. Wouldn’t you agree?”

“Oh dear.” Ken’s tone had a story behind it; a story that Minako wanted to know. She would coax it out of him, someday. “She would... probably be... a monster.”

“Haha, hey, at least it worked! You’re smiling now.” Daichi was right. Despite part of it being forced by their fingers, Ken was now smiling much more widely than he was 5 minutes ago. She was glad his friends succeeded in cheering him up, despite what happened between them yesterday. “Soooo, Wild-Duck?”

“Come on, at least give me another minute to rest up. You two were ruthless!”

“Hey, it was in good intention!”

“And did you have to use tickling of all things to do that?”

“You were just an easy target, Ken-kun.”

“Don’t side with them, Minako-san!”

Okay, so, this is the thing I whipped up (two days late) for the 18th prompt, which was Cheer Up Tickles. Kazuki and Daichi are not official Persona characters; they are original characters of another writer, who had given me permission to use them for this story. I apologize if this is a little lackluster compared to the other two; Ken was a little trickier to write compared to the rest of SEES, so I wanted to keep this short and simple.

And now, here’s the thing I’d said I wanted to do: a quick rundown of the weak spots of all the main characters currently featured in this collection of oneshots:

Minako

Contrary to what cartoon would like you to believe, the soles of her feet, aren’t really that ticklish, beyond winning you a few twitches and giggles. Same goes for her toes. More focus is instead given to her upper body; specifically, her stomach and ribs. Her stomach would earn you some louder cackles, but you have to attack her ribs to make her really lose it, as demonstrated by Shinjiro and Yukari.

Shinjiro

“Tough luck.”

(Okay but seriously, I’ll reveal it when I find the opportunity to write another story with him as the victim)

Yukari

She is probably the opposite of her best friend. While going for her torso would only get you some muffled giggles at best, just a few prods at her soles and she would double over on the floor/bed/what have you, begging for you to stop. To murder her, however, why don’t you try squeezing a finger, or a small paintbrush, into the tiny alcove where the stems of her toes meet her foot?

Junpei

“Ah, that is confidential information, reservedformyoneandonlyChidorita...”

Ken

87% of his nerves seems to be gathered at his underarms, because the moment you so much as skate a finger over them, he would buck in your grip and kick like crazy, asking (more like begging) to be set free. Like Yukari, he also has a “death spot” that would send him into hysterics, and that happens to be his bel- “Okay, we are not discussing this anymore! Conversation’s over!”

he doesn't like it here. ━ this realization comes as irrelevant. expected to him; no one likes it here, and he on some level knew what to expect, but it's a unique kind of dread that pools in the pit of his stomach as they traverse the endless passages, one that makes him antsier than he should be when not distracted by battle; tuning out his teammate's chatter with disregard on the inbetweens; and it's not to say he can't handle it, he can, but...

... his eyes flick off from their upwards stare, half mesmerized for a fleeting moment by the endless movement of the ceiling above them as rooms aligned themselves in impossibly different ways with every moment, but they lock to Mitsuru the moment she speaks, half disoriented & half like the child that got caught distracted in class. they only break off to peer around at an additional sound from far off as their leader scouts ahead that he knows always sounds closer than it is, shakes off the feeling of snippy tension, takes some comfort in Makoto and Mitsuru's unshakable natures...

" I know. " Ken nods, tries to use the comment to settle his nerves that despite how it felt, this was fine; better than fine, even, it was manageable. doable. ━ it's undercut, he quietly curses, by the part of him that insists the council president only notes it because he's young, and needs the reassurance, and a thousand other reasons he desperately seeks to prove wrong. ━━ ( he clutches his spear a little tighter. ) " I'm okay for now. Thanks. " his voice is a mumble as, perhaps paranoid just for now, his eyes catch the ridges of black shapes in the dark.

... it's a few minutes before he continues,, an endless hustle of movement as Makoto drives them forward, evasive & smooth, and Ken glances towards Mitsuru once more, cautiously, attentively. he feels the need to say something, and feels his throat dry up.

it's minor, but half of Ken's mind picks & paces an anxiety something about it being unwise not to break the cotton-mouth, lest he be unable to raise his voice in battle, so he does speak, peeking up at Mitsuru from beneath his bangs.

━ " S-so, how long have you been doing this, Mitsuru-san..? From what I've heard, it sounds like you've been coming here a lot longer than most of us... " ( one hell of a headstart for him to match... )

you tend to be more preoccupied with practical things, to the point where you've been blinded to matters of the heart. sure, you're close with this person. you like to be close with people. it is rewarding to know and be known in return. you leave realization no choice but to sneak up on you. they're not even in the room when it happens. someone or something else spells it out for you, an observant friend's passing comment or a particular sentence you were reading in a book, and suddenly it hits you, what it all means. the person your feelings have been building themselves around. Oh. it's them. it's time. it's them and you, here and now, and you have to decide what to do at this crossroads. luckily, you're practically-minded.

the late-night talk

Oh. you figure it out when you realize just how vulnerable they are willing to be with you. it isn't everybody who could or would stay up talking into the night with you, not with such affection or easy familiarity. it isn't everybody who is so understanding of you. it isn't everybody who could bare their soul to you in return. that kind of intimacy... it means deep foundations. it means comfort. it means trust. maybe it's a secret, maybe it's a story, maybe it's something you just never thought of before -- but they say something, late at night, and you realize all at once how remarkable they are, and how special it is to exist in the same time and space as them. "oh" indeed.

- Eiichiro Takeba, opposing The Fall, divides Death in thirteen parts. He is killed by Kouetsu

- Death escapes the Kirijo Group and, during Aigis confrontation with the shadow, they cause a car crash that kills Minato's parents. Death's escape caused the death of Kouetsu and many scientists lose their lives. This whole mess creates the Dark Hour as well as Tartarus

- Aigis seals a portion of Death inside Minato, who takes the form of Pharos

- The Kirijo Group starts to experiment on 100 street children to create Artificial Persona Users. Eventually, only Takaya Sakaki, Jin Shirato and Chidori Yoshino will survive, creating Strega

- To pay for the expensive Persona suppressants, Strega creates an assassination-for-hire website during the Dark Hour

   “FINALLY! Let’s start from the top and work our way to the bottom: firstly, Akihiko Sanada--he really needs to loosen up; he might be a pretty boy but he doesn’t have the common sense that the others have. He can’t even tell when a girl is hitting on him--how embarrassing, but I see him as a total bottom. No matter if he’s with a girl or a guy.

   “Mitsuru Kirijo: she is elegant, beautiful, and intelligent--a walking, talking sex symbol. I am sure she knows she’s everything I said, and yet she can’t find someone to marry to carry on the name of Kirijo--she’s too patient and cautious and should be more promiscuous in her endeavors. I am sure a willing lady or gentleman wouldn’t mind at all.

   “Shinjiro Aragaki: ...for someone who is friends with the first two I mentioned, how has he not learn about those two and common sense? Granted, his food is delicious--but what is he really hiding behind that peacoat of his? And, why not tell everyone, EVEN YOUR FRIENDS that you are going to die because of the suppressants? He needs to stop shouldering the burden because why have friends if he wouldn’t even do that!? Also, he should take control and be more aggressive--and I am meaning in general--my other self truly enjoys that. 

   “Aigis: she may look pretty and sound pretty, but being an android means she’ll never die--there is always a backup drive to restore her once more. Being immortal sounds lovely, doesn’t it? I have no other opinion for her.

   “Yukari Takeba: someone who is cute in the face, has an aggressive personality towards some of the guys, and is unable to aim in battle--also, the pink is loud, why hasn’t she found different shades for THAT COLOR--I do not know why the leader always takes her into battle. Yeah, she’s a fantastic healer, but does she not get the idea to practice more? It’s a bit annoying.

   “Junpei Iori: ohhhhhhh, this boy right here thinks he can compliment my other self, calling her cute a couple times during the summer trip, AND THEN turn around and find another navigator INSTEAD--” She takes a deep breath to calm herself down. “--it aches my heart that he said those cutesy things towards her, and then finds another girl. Oh, GOOD for him, but there is always consequences for any actions, good or bad. My other self won’t ever say these things to his face, so I’ll be happy to do that for her over and over again.

   “Minato Arisato: for someone who can control multiple Personas, your mind is a hot and ugly mess--it’s so disorganized and filled with confusion. I don’t get why you won’t open up to the rest of the people you are leading. Besides, looking cool on the outside and not being expressive is very unattractive. No wonder you were always an enigma.

   “Minako Arisato: I’d say the same about your brother to you, but you actually are reflecting what you are feeling--that’s the good thing about females. BUT, the bad thing is that you cannot decide between two guys AND MAN, just pick one! The way you tease and play with these boys annoys me and makes me mad--you have so much confidence and can’t even express those feelings to those who actually need it.

   “Ken Amada: I cannot sympathize with losing a parent--but, the way he did his revenge wasn’t necessary. For someone who wanted to act like an adult, doing that to Shinjiro wasn’t worth it--but, I have no other issues with this boy.

   “Lastly, Koromaru: ...he’s a good boy. That is all. He at least listens to commands unlike some people.”
