Last week I watched “Mama Mia!” (2008) Musical/Comedy
I’ll admit i didn’t have the best viewing conditions (a plane with lots of turbulence) so that may have affected my enjoyment. I thought this was fine. I loved the music (which was most of the movie) but the story was lackluster. I had difficulty telling the 3 fathers apart and I found the main character kinda annoying.

biography (optional):
TRIGGER WARNINGS: gore, violence, murder
Your mother dies weekly. It’s a very Greek story. Sisyphean, at least — no matter how fast she runs, she always meets the axe. Sometimes she presses rewind to make you watch it again, acrylic nail clicking on hard plastic. I kept my eyes open the whole time. See? You nod, view switching between her and the version of her on the screen, open-mouthed and bloody, vaguely unrecognisable in her youth. A mother, once she becomes one, ceases being a woman – most of all to her child. She plays the movie again, satisfied with your attention. Her not-self, longer, tauter, prettier, is dying again. Being hacked to pieces. Never even flinched, she mutters. Your gaze slips back to the intact version on the couch, watching as she smooths cream on her already polished legs. She'll be so glossy by the time she’s done, she’ll look varnished. Wet. Like if you rubbed a thumb over her, she’d blur right out. Smudge and then disappear.
Your mother is the shiniest thing in this house, and the hardest to see.
Your mother dies strangely. Slowly. When you watch her and her boyfriend die through a sliver in the bedroom door, it’s familiar, but not quite. The violence is there, but the director is poor. He’s gotten the staging wrong. Someone has forgotten to turn on the lights, centre the shot, cue the music. Most perturbing of all, Mother is forgetting her own inviolable rules. When you tiptoe out into the hallway later, scared to ruin the scene, you find her eyes are closed.
Mama, you say, prodding her in the shoulder. You flinched.
Among an act of senseless violence, it is a miraculous survival, they’ll say later, attributing your misunderstanding to something chosen. A testament to a little girl’s calm and quick thinking. You know the truth: your survival was dependent on fantasy. Lies. The inability to tell one from the other.
Years later you’ll return to this methodology, this time with intention. To survive, you become unreal.
You became something brand new all those years ago in your new home in Antioch, scrubbed so hard in the cleaning process the skin sloughed off. Amelia Ortiz, as you make her to be, is not the girl from the trailer park with the dead mother who used to do tit-baring horror movies. Mia Ortiz, as you make yourself to be, is tender and flawless. She’s born in Boulder, Colorado and likes to ski. She’s a winner of Miss Oregon and comfortable in her body, but doesn’t talk about it.
She’s always dressed well, and – never single. The only way to follow a career in beauty is the vocation of maintaining it, and you do, lifting from one partner to the next, attaching yourself to those your quiet, shrewd eye deems capable of ensuring your endurance: athletes, businessmen, politicians. Even among your peers you are exceptional, your trophies greater, your bindings stronger. They think it’s purely ambition, but greed is not the vice you act on — money is easy to acquire, and contributes to your need, but is not the whole of it. What you desire is something far greater, far harder to come by, always moving one step away: Safety.
For once in your life, you simply want to feel safe.
Can they blame you, then, really? You attach with the smooth efficiency of a parasite, but your lips are soft. They don’t feel it. Can they blame you for all you’ve done? For all this?
Time is cyclical. Mothers peer out of their daughters’ faces, looking to see what has changed. The night the plane goes down from the sky and she bolts forward from the woods, blood running over her Modigliani eyes, Mia is the spitting image of her mother. She collapses into the arms of another as if it’s on cue. She’s the most beautiful girl in the picture.
Her eyes are wide open.
She survives.
TL;DR ! mia is the daughter of a washed-up 80s horror actress, entered into witness protection after witnessing her mother's murder as a young girl. best summed up by if a lamb was a parasite. throwing herself into the new identity of a girl from a well-off family, she completely disassociates from her old life and immerses herself in a new reality. the only crack in her new antioch-born identity is when the plane crash and subsequent stranding of 2008 occurs - exhibiting a calculated survivalist of a girl. having been retrieved from the incident, she promptly wins miss oregon, travels to compete in miss world, and never comes home - until recently, after the passing of her adopted father.
wanted connection #1: the other end of the red string, dyed in blood. mia's strength has always been in emotional manipulation, and when the class of 2008 was stranded, it was largely this that ensured her survival. attaching herself to the strongest member(s) of the group, especially this individual, they ended up in an ill-defined codependency with romantic implications. since they were retrieved, however, mia distanced herself from them - denying, to this day, the extent of what they did for her. preference for a femme muse, but open to any class of 2008 survivor -- looking for something messy, angsty and intense !!!
wanted connection #2: high school bestie !!! they were inseparable up until the crash, after which the relationship was never the same.
wanted connection #3: guilty pleasure / long term on- and off- hookup. for various reasons they definitely shouldn't be messing around, and yet whenever mia's in town they end up gravitating to one another again. to quote the poet liam payne: you said it was over, but your clothes say different on my bedroom floor

&&. ◜ tw: none ◞ % … 🦋 › OCTAVIA are an active , eight piece girl group that debuted back in march of 2008 . they were the first ever group to come out of evergreen , reaching great success early on which solidified their spot as one of the top 2nd generation girl groups within the idol industry . the group is mainly recognized for their pop music that constantly goes viral during the summer due to fitting the season best &&. for the girls being featured throughout the entertainment and music industry as well-received actresses , producers , choreographers , models , and more . their reputation remained spotless and pristine for years up until the departure of kyungri in 2015 just shortly after promoting her debut solo ep . fans speculated that the company always wanted to make her go solo at some point since 2013 after she started being absent from group activities to focus more on her individual work . it became even more prevalent when rumors began circulating that the group would be facing possible disbandment or that none of the members re-signed their contracts just 3 months after the event . evergreen were quick to dismiss the news but did confirm that the girls would be going on a short hiatus so they could work more on their solo activities . the messy aftermath of kyungri’s departure was peak entertainment for fans as angela was seen rolling her eyes at kyungri’s screen time during an interview , yujin jokingly saying they were always 7 when on vlive for their anniversary , and the group looking disinterested during the former member’s performance at mama with eunmi and mina even laughing . this led to fans thinking that her departure held more meaning than they thought which was slightly confirmed by angela after participating on lee youngji’s drinking show in 2022 where she stated that no one was surprised when it happened , just shocked that it did .

Since we're sharing P!ATD stories...buckle up!
I'm originally from the Chicago suburbs (which is also an annoying personality trait) and I was 13 years old, heavily layering tank tops from Kohl's over v-neck shirts.
It's May 2008 and me and these two super cool older girls from Elmhurst (whom I met at Fine Arts Camp @ Saint Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana) went to Honda Civic Tour at the Congress Theatre in Chicago (RIP).
It was my first concert *ever* and I cannot believe how lucky I was to have it filmed. I got that hideous beige/brown Pretty.Odd sweatshirt (see attached for example) and wore it over everything because I believed I had hypohidrosis (spoiler: it was all the layered tank tops from Kohl's).
Motion City Soundtrack, Phantom Planet, and The Hush Sound were incredible openers and I have yet to have a more satisfying line up. BUT. It was at the concert that I had my first seizure! Rewind a second!
I grew up on Neopets and Flash Games and supported my friends who were really good at drawing Sonic the Hedgehog. I was on the computer *a lot.* So when the fingers in my left hand were going numb, it was dismissed as carpal tunnel - easy enough.
Now fast forward to me being such an amped up, cradle Catholic, Peggy Hill-footed teenager. I'm in ecstasy, feeling like the true Fueled By Ramen ™ teen that I knew I was inside. I'm sweaty, I'm scrunched against other people, I'm having an awakening!!!
But then my fingers go number and half of my face does too and I'm thinking it's adrenaline and hormones and Jon Walker - so I keep going. It eventually subsides, then happens again a few days later, and again, and again...for months.
Scooch ahead a little more - my mom advocates for an MRI and we get one, a then few weeks pass.
After going to ~LINCOLNSHIRE~ with my grandma and mom to see "Mama Mia" (on the day before I am set to start *THE* 8th grade), we get a call from my pediatrician that I need to go to the hospital ASAP. Turns out I have a "goober" in my brain and a "goober" is what you call a tumor when you're explaining it to a kid you helped bring into this world. Shout out to the emotional labor of doctors, for real.
I can do a "House"-style medical breakdown later and talk about my surgery/proton radiation, BUT I would much rather talk about all of my Make-A-Wish trip ideas, ripped straight outta 2008!!!
1. Visit the set of "Project Runway" and hang out with Tim Gunn.
2. A pink digital camera - literally, that was it. And you know the one I'm talking about. My Wish Granters were like....you can probably get that on your own sweetie...
3. Be on an episode of TAI TV (remember that!?) If you must know, I had big dumb crushes on Ryland and Sisky.
4. Meet Katy Perry??? (I don't know what we would have talked about or done together...I knew nothing about anything).
5. American Eage shopping spree (in retrospect, their clothes never really fit right and I only wanted to recreate the high of wearing a lace cami under a turquoise henley sweater with a pink skinny scarf at my first middle school dance - it was as much of a "Laguna Beach" moment as I could have).
- Meet Jon Walker - not all of Panic! just Jon. WILD!!!!! Imagine!!!
Dear reader...do you want to know what I chose?
A trip to Turks and Caicos! A place I had never heard of! I got my period for the first time and we could only find cardboard, "old-school" tampons and I was FREAKING OUT. I also got a wicked sunburn (Trileptal folks!) and got sick on an unlimited supply of Boursin whipped cheese spread. Two of my brothers are redheads who do not like the beach! They were so fussy! Turks and Caicos is a lot of beach!
Please please believe me, I am unbelievably thankful for my wish (and health and life and time) and the Granting team, but have any other Make-A-Wish kids spent time thinking about alllllll the other wish possibilities?
I'm not even talking about reflecting back and considering more "practical" (which is bananas to say considering the context), but just like how my interests have changed?
In high school (and probably now, too), I was kicking myself for not using my wish to meet Jason Segel? I still have a massive crush on him, but imagine them calling him up to meet a random kid who picked him as her Make-A-Wish? (This was pre "End of the Tour" and "Muppets" for him - it only was "How I Met Your Mother" and "Freaks and Geeks" for him).
I'm 15 years in remission and doing just fine! I haven't talked about (or processed) personal health stuff very much, so thanks for letting me take a moment from reblogging transparent Snoopy sticker scans and Nora Ephron film stills to reflect on the end of an era.

favorite movies of the 2010s?
I mean the social network obviously like literally altered my brain chemistry. The amazing Spider-Man movies of course. The high school musical trilogy, mama mia came out in 2008 but mama mia here we go again came out in 2018. Into the spider verse which I can’t believe is a 2010s movie. I hate the mcu but the avengers movie has me in a nostalgic chokehold. Silence is so underrated and it’s based on one of my favorite novels. And oh my gosh the little women movie! Like I adore a24 movies but like midsummer and the lighthouse are my personal favorites. Did parasite come out in the 2010s or was it 2020? Either way it’s amazing!! Wait tangled was definitely 2010s definitely my favorite 3D animated Disney movie (oh but also moana) oh my goodness how to train your dragon was also 2010s!! Oh have you seen princess syd gotta be one of my favorite gay movies!!!
I’ll be real most of my memories are from the 2010s so like I love most movies that came out in that decade but also I’m not big on movies I’m more a tv show person

ABBA top 5? and then a Mamma Mia cover of ABBA top 5, if there are any differences. and which of the 3 dads would you pick if you could.
Fun fact: Mamma Mia! was the first movie I ever pirated way back in 2008 because I was in love with Colin Firth and it is one of my favorite movie musicals of all time
My ABBA ranking is based solely on the songs that get stuck in my head the most so it often changes:
"Waterloo"
"Angeleyes"
"Take a Chance on Me"
"My Love, My Life"
"Ring Ring"
Mamma Mia! ranking is my most listened to covers:
"The Winner Takes It All"
"Lay All Your Love On Me"
"Money, Money, Money"
"Fernando"
"Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)"
LISTEN I don't know the Here We Go Again! covers as much as I'd like but Cher's cover of "Fernando" lives rent free in my head
YOU GOTTA BE SPECIFIC WHEN YOU TELL ME TO PICK A DAD BECAUSE DO YOU MEAN AS MY DAD OR WHO IVE BEEN HOPELESSLY IN LOVE WITH FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS?
I'd choose Bill as my dad because I wanna live on a boat
LET ME BE REAL FOR A SECOND
I've had the biggest crush on Christine Baranski since The Grinch
I want Tanya to be my sugar mama

Mati Diop
Restituire significa rendere giustizia.
