I think I've stated this before but his relationship with freddie is primarily only there so that he can ignore his feelings for nandor and also was used as kinda a coping mechanism to deal with the whole crate incident

personally I think under normal circumstances their relationship would have ended real fucking quick

but since while in england he was morning the lost of what he's been dreaming of for years AND later the way he came back plus all the shit he had to deal with in season 4 (being nandor's wedding planner and best man, help raising baby colin, working for the club) he needed an escape

and what better escape than a plan ass boring ass british fuck who is low key a fucking asshole? (hmmm I wonder if I like freddie?)

also part of the reason the trip being ripped from his hands hurt so much has to do with guillermo also being ripped apart from nandor

and let's fucking face it IF they went on that trip they would have ended up together

guillermo has probably thought of this fact while trapped in the fucking crate on his way to england

and when he finally got back (tho through unfortunate means that 100% gave my guy claustrophobia cuz how could it fucking not?) and one of the first tasks he was set with is helping the man he's been in love with for years find someone to marry and plan their wedding so he leaned back on his relationship with freddie since he knows chasing that would hurt him less then hoping maybe nandor would pick him

So, my review on the Acotar series...

I started reading the first book in 2020, but I had stopped because Feyre was giving me the icks in the first book. 😅 I started reading it again last year because of the hype it got on Tiktok, and I was like, "Okay, I'll give it a chance. Might not be that bad." And GOD, I'm glad I did !! The end of the first book felt a bit rushed though, I wish the UTM scenes would've been more detailed.

Then I started the second book, and at the beginning, honestly, I was a bit confused about how Feyre seemed so... traumatized? Like, she didn't seem that bad in the previous book, but that's just my honest opinion. 😅 I grew to like Feyre in the second book. She really had a good character development. There really were beautiful scenes in book two, the starfall scene, the inn scene was quite hot too, and the Suriel, omg. I loved this scene. It kind of bugged me, though, because of Feyre's reaction, but hey. Chapter 54 really made up for the lack of UTM information in the first book, and chapter 55 was hot, too, lol. But again... like the first book, I felt like there was a bit of action at the end of the book, which hold a looot of information, but it felt... rushed.

Third book... Lucien broke my heart in this book, like, my boy needs happiness. And if Elain doesn't take him, hell I'll do it! 🤣 I loved Bryaxis scene in this book. I don't have much more thoughts about this one book though... lots and lots of war strategies and all.

3.5 book is SO UNDERATED! GODDAMN I LOVED IT. It honestly was my favorite one for a loooong time!! But ACOSAF took the first place in my heart after reading it, lol. I feel like Rhysand and Feyre relationship really settled in this book, honestly. A lot of domestic sweet moments.

And book 4... honestly, I think it's the best. The only thing I have to "complain" about is how some characters felt... off. Rhysand felt off, Cassian felt off, Azriel felt off in the bonus chapter... Especially Azriel. Like, okay, maybe he is pinning for Elain, maybe the Cauldron is wrong or wathever... but in book 3.5, Cassian wanted to bet that Lucien wouldn't be attending their Solstice festivities, and Azriel was like "No, you wouldn't like someone making those kinds of bets on you." Like... I thought he had more respect for Lucien than that... than kissing his mate. Anyways. Love Nesta, love the valkyries friendship... Love this book. I often see posts like "Nesta was such a bitch" yeah. She was. When you're hurting, and healing, it sometimes happens, to act like a bitch. Some people have... really bad coping mechanisms. But they're not bad people for that.

My history with Tales of Graces f:

Played it for the first time during the summer of 2020 (yup mid pandemic)

I'd been wanting a PS3 for years in order to play the console-locked Tales games on it in chronological order

So when I was very kindly given a refurbished one as a birthday gift I immediately went out and bought Graces f from an online retro game site (only roughly $20 usd iirc)

The sister who I live w now watched me play part of it but didn't seem terribly impressed so I never offered to play it with her (we did go on to play Zestiria, Xillia 1 & 2 and now Berseria though)

I had to jump up several times during cutscenes to stop our new puppy from eating the chair I was sitting in 😅

Graces brainrot got me through a lot of the miserable confusion that was COVID lockdown

Like I distinctly recall having a mental breakdown at work and taking a much needed day off, which I spent entirely stuffing my face with Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies and playing the Rockgagong part of the story

I beat the main story on my first day back in college. My roommate switched to online schooling so I had the whole apartment to myself to play Lineage and Legacies and yell at the screen whenever the dumb teenagers talked about marriage again

I started what would become my long fic on October 6 2020. It was just an idea at the time but soon became a coping mechanism for what I now recognize as a bit of a depression spell. Probably where the constant angst came from originally but now I just like it.

I have yet to play a new game+ but I want to. If I can get the executive function gods to cooperate then I probably will sometime this year

Although I've only played it once, I have watched a full let's play and part of a friend's stream (hi pav 👋). I've also rewatched the cutscenes from Lineage and Legacies like at least 4 times because they're short and easy to binge

I've also watched the original ending a worrying number of times 😅

Oooh, I love these ones! 💙 You've unlocked The Rambling, haha. It's gonna be a long one:

1. What do they think of each other’s family? And how does the family feel?

Goro doesn't really have to worry too much about assimilating into a new family because most of Valerie's biological family is either dead or estranged by the time they meet. 😅 She's an only child, her father died in 2058, and her mother died in 2063. Valerie does have some aunts, uncles, and cousins on her mother's side, but they live on the east coast of NUSA, and she hasn't seen them since she was about 11.

The only two blood relatives she has in Night City are her uncle, Ed, who is her father's oldest brother, and his adult daughter, who I'm still working on and doesn't have an official name yet. 😅 Ed is kind of a piece of shit--He runs with the 6th Street, but he's basically a low-level goon who deals drugs to kids. The last time he saw Valerie was around 2075 when he got wind that she was doing very well for herself and tried to get money from her.

I have been thinking about a way for Valerie and Goro to meet him for some reason during the in-game timeline, but I don't have anything solid at the moment. Goro and Ed would not get along at all, but Valerie isn't fond of him either, so no love lost there. (Nameless cousin is still a total mystery to me--Currently leaning towards a journalist, but I have no idea.)

And of course there's Mama Welles. Valerie's relationship with Mama Welles was always just a little tense--Valerie was just not used to having a mother figure that involved in her life and personal business, and even though Mama Welles always meant well, it could be a little smothering to Valerie. But they do stay in touch even after Jackie dies, and Valerie does bring Goro over for at least one good homecooked meal when they're in Night City.

Mama Welles is a little wary of Goro's allegiances at first, but Goro puts on the gentlemanly charm and wins her over pretty quickly. She sees he cares very deeply for Valerie, and she's glad her pseudo-surrogate daughter has someone in her life that makes her happy.

As for Valerie with Goro's family... I'm holding off on anything solid about Goro's family until Phantom Liberty. If CDPR gives us nothing here, I'll headcanon Goro a whole ass family tree, but I'll give Sir Weber a little more time to share his official backstory before I make up my own. 😅

However! @lizzy--wizzy gave me an absolutely adorable idea about Valerie meeting Goro's father for the first time, and I would love to make something like this a part of their canon: Basically, Goro comes back to Japan after several years living in NUSA with this gorgeous, tall, bright blue-haired woman at his side, and his father looks up at her and then at Goro and is like "You just disappeared to another country for 10 years and then you come back home married to a supermodel???? Explain."

4. How do they compare to each other’s exes? Are they the same “type” or an upgrade/something different?

Man, I'm overflowing with thoughts on this one--I don't even know where to start, haha.

I guess I'll start with their romantic/sexual pasts for some context:

Valerie slept around a lot in her early-to-mid 20s, and she was not particularly discerning about who she shared a bed with during that time. It was very much a maladaptive coping mechanism from dealing with feeling abandoned and isolated after losing her parents, losing her job, losing her status, losing her (admittedly shitty and fair-weather) friends as a result of losing her status--Basically after losing any sense of direction in her life. She was very lonely but also didn't want to really let anyone in emotionally. The majority were just one-night stands with anyone she thought was hot and into her.

She didn't even really consider pursuing a long-term relationship until she was in her late 20s/early 30s, but by then she was also working for Arasaka which demanded a lot of her time. Most of those relationships were with other corpos who understood the grind and tended to all be emotionally unavailable one way or another, and they usually only lasted a few months, tops. Valerie did often gravitate towards people who could be a little prickly on the outside--She loves the little victory of getting a smile out of a sarcastic grump.

Then when Valerie decided to go sober, dating became even harder since going out for drinks or doing ~*luxury drugs*~ were such a huge part of the corporate dating scene. She was almost completely celibate for about two years.

Valerie and Viktor did briefly have a thing after she was fired from Arasaka, but between his own intimacy issues and her kind of using him for a sense of comfort after her life got thrown upside down again, that one also didn't last more than a few months.

As for Goro: much like with his family, I'm holding off a little long until I commit to anything concrete for Goro's romantic past, but I've indulged here a little more:

I absolutely love the idea of Goro being a wild playboy during his youth, so I think he probably had his fair share of indiscriminate flings as well until he found that 'Saka discipline. I could see him also having, like, one fairly serious relationship when he was young but starting to settle down a bit, but it fell through for whatever reason: Goro had to commit fully to Arasaka, that partner got married off to someone else, etc. Pick your tragedy.

I don't think he was ever married, though, and I think once he became Saburo's bodyguard, Goro didn't even entertain the idea of having a long-term romantic relationship. I think it would have been highly discouraged if not outright banned.

I do think he would occasionally enjoy the company of others, though, with the explicit understanding that it couldn't be more than sex (maybe dinner if he really liked them). Probably with other high-level Arasaka employees who were in a similar position but still craved physical companionship from time to time. I think he'd be drawn to people who were at least like him on the outside--Reserved with refined taste and a clear understanding of their purpose in the organization--But deep down he craves connection with someone more spirited who could challenge him.

So, to finally answer the actual question, lmao: How do they compare to each other's exes?

In both cases they're mostly something different, but that's also mostly because they never really let themselves have relationships with someone who they could deeply connect with. They are each other's type--They just tried to deny it to themselves for most of their lives.

(Goro is more oblivious and then surprised by his attraction to Valerie than vice versa, though. 😅 Valerie is like "Of course I fall in love with the most unattainable man in the world while I'm actually dying. This is exactly why I don't want to have any feelings." And Goro is more like "It is not love. I just trust her with my entire life, and often my stomach feels weird when she smiles at me, but it is just something I ate in this shithole of a city. Probably.")

3. not putting these on a pedestal, not thinking they were something so out of this world, not even asking myself “how would someone in my position even get this?” bc once again, i LIVED in my imagination, ran to my imagination for fulfillment of things i desired

4. i did NAWT stress over it? really had this “i don’t give a fuck, it’s mines because i said so and acting like such! how could i not have it when i am clearly experiencing it and can clearly see it (referring to my imagination)” mindset, because why would i stress or get upset by something i have? how can i stress about not having one million dollars when the money is right dead in my face? that’d just be absolutely silly, i can visualize it, i can feel the emotions and feel the person i’d be with my desires so why tell myself i don’t have them??????? exactly

5. i didn’t treat manifestation like a process because it’s a decision. the moment you decide you have something you do, simple as that. i embodied the person i wanted to be. i “shifted” realities to the person i wanted to be and the life i wanted to live!

6. time is irrelevant when i have it right now.

Doing better today, but goddamn, after a hard week of carefully and calmly attempting to healthily process PTSD trigger after PTSD trigger, I hit the wrong button, deleted my progress, and then all my emotions from the past 5 days were like

My biggest problem with Ayato is his stans. 😭

I don't mind if his stans want to make a thousand posts a day about how much they love him, but what does bother me is that they always try to throw in his face that he "is the only canonical/true route". I even read that "the real Yui" is only the Yui that appears in Ayato's routes. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I swear, his stans are so annoying. Yui is the "real Yui" in all the damn routes, NOT just Ayato's. All routes are equally canon because at the end of the day it's us fans who decide who we prefer to see Yui/MC with. In any case, Yui/MC loves all the guys in her harem in equal measure, there is nothing she has done or said for Ayato that she hasn't done or said for the other Diaboys. And in fact, she has died more times protecting Yuma than Ayato, (that's never mentioned by Ayato's stans, why is that?)

Something I can't stand either is that they say that Ayato's Dark Fate route "is the best route of all the games", literally in Dark Fate you have routes like Carla and Shin's, who are new characters and yet have better development and a much more interesting background than Ayato could have had in four games.

Same anon, same. (Wow… the statement about Yui 💀. The idolism got to that point? Come on 😅. And i thought the level of entitlement couldn’t surpass the “Ayato is the main character”.)

Though my problem with them is

1, They think they have the priviledge. To whitewash (idk how this word works yet, like is it only apply to skin color? Or does it mean “bleaching one’s wrong doing” too? I’m going with the 2nd one) their oshi; for example, “Ayato has never engaged in harmful coping mechanism and never project it on others.” In Bold. That’s blatant lie. Check out Sakamaki Saga for more detail plus his LE route too! I don’t remember much about HBD MB and DF but i think there are some. Mainly in the first two games.

While they reacted like sodium meeting water whenever the other boys did an equal bad thing. Some even make up tell tales about them. Way to go.

To say “not a positive opinion” about other boys, but non-Ayato fans can’t. “Ik everyone has their opinions but why don’t keep them to yourself if they’re not positive ones??? Don’t wonder why Ayato stans reacted that way because everyone would defend their fav Diaboy. Acting like he isn’t the Sakamaki most prone to put his life on the line for others pfft. Girl, you will obviously get such negative”reactions if you start drama. You claim you don’t want to but you did start it already because you spread hatred in this fandom with your “opinions”.

The Story So Far and Knuckle Puck are good to scream at your steering wheel. Movements and some Knuckle Puck songs are good for staring off into space when you’re hit by a case of the sads. Neck Deep is good for all of the above and for pulling you out of the funk. This playlist is mostly angsty.

1. What are your OC's best and worst qualities What do they think are their best and worst qualities?

Ren's best quality is probably his loyalty. Once he trusts someone, he's ride or die. For the most part.

His worst quality is that he holds a Grudge. He's pissed at Max for a LONG time after the scholar thing, and doesn't fully come around until well after Scylla. He's been hurt a few too many times to take what he sees as betrayal lightly.

Ren would probably agree his best quality is his loyalty, but he would say his worst quality is his temper.

2. Is there a meaning behind their name, or a particular reason why they have it? (either in the story, or why you as the author decided to give them their name)

I just answered a question about Ren's name so Ill give the real world answer! Genuinely, I saw someone with the nickname Ren when i was at work and i was like Yo that's a cool name. And i snatched it up. I steal a lot of cool names from work 😂😅

3. What does their voice sound like, in a couple of words? (ie soft, scratchy, seductive, high pitched, etc)

Oddly?? I haven't thought about it much! He's trans and was on T on Earth, and I've guess i always imagined like a bit lower and kinda scratchy? Look, Ive been on T for a while and only JUST realized like a month ago that my voice changed a lot, I'm not good with like,,, voices or describing them fjalfjalf

4. Do they have any underlying motivations? (ie hey seem hard-working but secretly just don't want to fall back into poverty, etc)

Ren's secretive about exactly what they're doing for Phineas at first, because he's not sure he can trust ANYONE, but as soon as he warms up to the crew and to Phineas, he's pretty straight forward with them. He doesn't tell them about his past on Earth for a while, but he came to Halcyon to start over as a paramedic. He truly wants to save the people on the Hope, and believes they can help save the colony.

5. Does their fashion sense reflect an aspect of their personality? (ie bright and colorful outfits symbolizing that they're an upbeat person)

Ren ends up wearing old altered Iconiclast armor. He uses his own fabric in colors he's not mistaken for the Iconiclasts. He ends up choosing the blue for the head scarf and detailing because he stopped dying his hair when he got to Halcyon (too much work) so it's a little homage to the hair color he sported for years. That's not really the answer to the question but... i'm leaving it there 😅

6. Do they have any tattoos? What are they, and why did they get them?

YES! On his left arm he has the word FUCK tattooed. His late husband Johnny had "SHIT" tattooed on him, because those were the first words they said to each other. Once they realized that after they got married, they got it tattooed

I want Ren to have more tattoos but i haven't put that much thought into it lol I think he'd get some in Halcyon too, and not all of them would have some grand meaning! I think eventually he'd get something to commemorate his original crew on the Unreliable

7. What is their biggest insecurity?

Ren biggest insecurity is that he doesn't believe he's as morally good as he really is. He has a checkered past on Earth, but really it's bc he's more of a Chaotic Good type than a Neutral Good.

However, he still thinks he's way in over his head and doesn't ever know if he's doing the right thing.

8. What is their coping mechanism?

Fake it til u make it baybee. That and cigarettes. He doesn't drink so much anymore, but he smokes as an anxious habit when he's not Doing Great (and generally only then, so if he's smoking, he's going through it)

9. What is their main love language? (gifts, quality time, acts of service, physical touch, words of affirmation)

Oooo copy pasting this one bc i answered it before from a different ask thing and im too lazy too type a new answer :,) :

Ren's love language is definitely physical touch, acts of service are important to him, but being physical close to his people is the best. Makes for fun moments when someone Ren cares about helps bandage him up after a fight uwu

10. What is their MBTI type?

INJF (idk i made it up im too lazy to go through and do that sorry lol)

11. What kind of person are they most compatible with? (platonic or romantic)

Queer people, generally, but anyone who isn't a dick 😂

He doesn't really like cynical people, even though he can be kinda cynical himself sometimes, so he finds it really hard to get along with Max and Ellie through the story. Ellie and Ren definitely bond somewhat after her quest, and Max kinda gets over the most annoying if his cynicism after his quest, so that helps a lot.

12. How do they feel about romantic relationships? Are they into casual flings or more serious, long-term romances? Or are they uninterested?

Very interested on all levels lol. Ren is very casual about sex, he's more of a 'it's a fun activity' kind of guy. He's totally happy with casual flings, however! He is also a romantic. In an ideal world, his partner(s) would be open to the idea of non monogamy, but if not, Ren would be absolutely fine with settling down with the right person. (spoilers i give Ren his happy ending........ no pun intended)

13. What are their views on marriage? If they want to get married, what would their dream wedding be like?

Ren's been married! He and Johnny got married for the benefit status, though. Ren doesn't particularly care about marriage as an institution, but he did enjoy having a party to celebrate his and Johnny's love, soooo he's not closed to the idea in the future. He wouldn't be the one to ask for one though.

14. How is their relationship with their family Which family member are they closest to?

Non existant. He cut off communication with his parents right after high school. He kept tabs on them from a distance for a while, but eventually stopped checking in on them. He used to spend summers on his uncle's dairy farm, though, and before he cut off his parents, his Uncle was probably the person he was closest too. It wasn't a very familial relationship, though, and he didn't answer after Ren reached out in his 20s. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

15. Has their personality changed at all since they were a child? Why?

Absolutely. Ren grew up with grossly wealthy parents, so he was coddled and shielded by a lot as a child. Until High school he was probably kinda like those pretentious little kids who's low key annoying, but i'm high school he learned about the horrors of ~capitalism~ and things went downhill from their (or uphill? Because he's definitely a better person for it 😅)

16. How do other characters in the story view them?

Ooooo, this is a tricky one, it depends on the timeline of the game, but at first I think their all a little bit optimistically confused by him lol. He's a stranger who came out of nowhere and is offering to help (for a fee sometimes), but then is actually capable of surviving in this colony while not knowing what "Tossball" is.

By the end of the game, they all see him as more human and less superhero, understanding he has his limits, but by the end of the game there's definitely a mutual respect from everyone on the crew. I could go more into each persons opinions but this would be twice as long as it already will be lmfao

17. How many hours of sleep does your OC get on average?

Not enough :,)

18. Where do they see themself in ten years?

Ideally, he, Phineas, and Hiram are settled down somewhere relatively safe in the colony and he and Hiram can work on the colony while Phineas relaxes and works in his own projects for fun for once in his life

If you’re talking about mine, I keep going back to read You’re Safe Now. Because this one is the most meaningful to me. It helped me work through the abusive relationship I had with my last job.
