Here’s a basic rundown on how Daxxify™ compares to these well-known neuromodulators, exploring their similarities, differences, and potential benefits.

BOTOX®

When most people think of wrinkle injections, BOTOX® is probably the first name that comes to mind. BOTOX® is the original and most well-known of these treatments. BOTOX®, short for botulinum toxin type A, has been around for decades and is one of the most well-known and widely used neuromodulators. It has a proven track record in treating crow's feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles. The effects of BOTOX® typically last around three to four months, after which maintenance treatments are required.

Dysport®

Dysport®, another botulinum toxin type A product, offers a slightly different formulation than BOTOX®. One notable difference is that Dysport® tends to spread more quickly after injection, which can lead to faster results for some individuals. However, this also means that a larger amount of the product may be needed to achieve results. It is less potent than BOTOX® and has a higher rate of diffusion due to its molecular weight. The duration of its effects is also similar to BOTOX®, lasting about three to four months. This injectable is only approved for glabellar lines or frown lines. 

Xeomin®  

Xeomin® is a unique neuromodulator as it contains only one ingredient: botulinum toxin type A. As a result of this, it’s sometimes referred to as the “Naked Injectable.” Unlike BOTOX® and Dysport®, Xeomin® lacks accessory proteins. This may reduce the risk of antibody formation in some patients, potentially making it a suitable choice for individuals who have developed resistance to other neuromodulators. Xeomin®'s effects are also temporary, lasting for about three to four months, much like BOTOX® and Dysport®.

Daxxify™

Daxxify™ is a newer player in the neuromodulator game, but it is quickly gaining attention for its effectiveness and unique approach. Like the other botulinum toxin injections, Daxxify™ is injected into specific facial muscles to temporarily block nerve signals. This results in muscle relaxation, which reduces wrinkles and lines on the skin's surface. One of the key differences between the other neuromodulators and Daxxify™ is that the latter has a peptide-enhanced formula. Another major difference is how long results last. One of the few downsides of the other injectables like BOTOX® is that for some, the results may not last as long as they would like. The results of Daxxify™ may last as long as six months or more, so patients may only need to have as few as two in-office treatments per year to maintain their results. This injectable does not contain any human or animal-based components such as human serum albumin. So far, Daxxify™ has only been approved for moderate to severe glabellar lines. 

Which Is the Best Option for Me?

In most cases, if you are happy with the current wrinkle-relaxing injection you have been using, there’s no need to switch to Daxxify™. However, if you are searching for a longer-lasting option, you may be a good candidate for Daxxify™. If you are new to injectables, you might want to try out something like BOTOX® first to see if you like it before committing to a longer-lasting option like Daxxify™.
