Day 9: forehead kisses

"You're the cutest thing to ever exist. You're the love of my life. I don't know what I could ever do without you."

Gavi was about at his wits end. It was his first weekend off after the end of the season, and he was excited to finally spend some quality time with you. He woke up feeling like he ruled the world. As he got ready to head to your place, his phone lit up with a text message from you.

[mi sol <3]: good morning baby. we have someone joining us today. hope you don't mind <333 ilysm see you soon

His heart sank immediately. Who the hell had you invited to spend the day with the two of you? And more importantly, why? The insecurity started to fester in his head. Was he not enough for you when he was no longer Gavi of F.C Barca, but just Pablo Gavi? A normal young man who just wanted to be held by his girlfriend while they watched Netflix on the couch? Did he bore you?

Gavi got to your house and rang the doorbell, and you swung open the door not even 15 seconds letter.

"Pablo!" You yelled, throwing your arms around him in a tight hug. He returned with just as much enthusiasm, picking you up off the ground and spinning you. The neighbors probably thought you were weird, but this is all he ever wanted: a pretty girl who he loved, who loved him back, and who he could be soft and open around. He breathed in the scent of your freshly washed hair, and wondered why he bothered with football when he could be up against you like this everyday.

"Good morning mi amor. Miss me?"

"You know I have. All my hoodies smell like detergent now instead of boyish charm and Paco Rabanne 1 million."

He smiled at you, teeth on display, skin around his eyes wrinkling in pure joy. You had missed Pablo so much. The stress of the end of the season meant that you didn't get to see your boy as often as you wanted. You missed Gavi intensely. His cocky nature when he was around you, like he knew the effect that he had on you, coupled with his sweet gestures that showed how much he really cared.

"Your hoodies? You mean the ones you stole from me? It's a good thing it's July, otherwise I would freeze since you took everything I have with sleeves."

"Fine fine. They can be our hoodies. I'm a comfort communist. Come inside and re-scent them."

He laughed and followed you into the house. You ran up the stairs to your room with Gavi in tow. You opened your closet, trying to decide which sweatshirts you could part with and which would stay in your permanent collection.

"So... I have to ask: who is spending the day with us."

You giggled and turned to face him.

"You'll see."

You rushed down the stairs at the sound of the doorbell. Gavi lingered at the top, hoping to see who was here dividing your attention.

"Nicole, hi!"

"Hi dear. Thank you so much for doing this. You have no idea how much this means to me."

"Of course of course. Where is Salvia?"

'Salvia? Like the plant?' Gavi thought to himself. A loud bark startled him out of his thoughts. You were being attacked with kisses from a long haired German Shepard. Gavi's eyes lit up. Your intruder wasn't a person - it was a dog.

When the door closed, Gavi approached you.

"Who is this?"

"This is Salvia. She's Nicole's darling baby. She's flying to Madrid for the day for a family emergency, so she asked me to dog sit. I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier."

Gavi brought you closer, embracing you from behind and kissing your neck.

"Of course it's fine mi amor. I love dogs."

Or so he thought. Gavi did, up until that moment, really love dogs. He loved being around something high energy and cuddly, and loved getting wet kisses and excited tail wags. But now, he was ready to label himself a cat person. Every few minutes, your attention shifted from him to the dog, making sure she was safe and not tearing up the house. He could barely sit for two minutes with you before you had to get up to care for Salvia, either taking her out or feeding her or just giving her attention.

The sun had set hours ago, and he was sitting with you on the couch. Well actually he was sitting half a meter away from you. Salvia laid across your lap, her butt preventing Pablo from being closer to you. You were rubbing her sides, fluffing her coat and then smoothing it back down. Every few minutes, Salvia looked up at you resting her head against your chest. You scratched behind her ears, looking at her lovingly and and giving her several kissed on the head and nose.

Gavi was pissed. He was also cute and fluffy and wanted to lay on top of you, and yet he was losing your affections to a dog. A dog! He couldn't contain his disappointment. He wanted you to kiss him and say that he was the cutest thing alive. But alas. So he slid down on the couch, crossing his arms and pouting out his bottom lip, scowling at the Rom Com on the TV.

"Baby.." He whined, trying to put an arm around your shoulders, but unable to reach. "Come closer."

"I can't baby. She's asleep and I don't want to wake her up."

He huffed and got up from his seat. He went upstairs to where his bag was, opting to change out of his shorts into some sweats. He removed his shirt, and sprayed himself with more cologne. He decided to make himself irresistible to you. He sat back down, and looked at you to gage your reaction. You were too busy kissing Salvia on the forehead. Gavi began cursing every dog in existence under his breath. You were his girlfriend dammit. And he was sexy and Spanish and shirtless and within arms reach, and you could not care less.

At around midnight, the doorbell rang again. Salvia sprang off the couch, running to the door and letting out a soft bark. You got up after her and ran to the door, opening it for Nicole.

"Hi baby Sal - did you miss me? I missed you too. Thank you so much for taking care of her. Thankfully the family is fine. I really appreciate the help."

"Anytime," you respond, handing Nicole the bag with the dog things, "glad everyone is doing well. Have a good night."

You closed the door and went back to the couch, flopping down beside Gavi. He kept his arms crossed over his chest and turned to you, pout still very present on his face. You held his face in your hands, pressing your forehead to his.

"What's wrong Pablito?"

He wanted to stay mad at you. He really did. But you were looking up at him with your big beautiful eyes, batting your eyelashes at him and holding his face so delicately.

"You ignored me all day for a dog."

He tried to pull away, feeling stupid for admitting it. You pulled his head in, giving him a sweet kiss on the forehead.

"Awe Pablo. I'm sorry. You want me to pamper you like Salvia?"

"Not in this condition - you smell like dog."

You pushed his face away, enjoying the sound of his laughter. You loved the way Gavi looked when he was laughing - or happy in general. His eyes would get small and his cheeks got more round, making him more adorable than you thought possible. You grabbed the hem of your sweatshirt and lifted it off, leaving you in your bralette. You then removed the blanket from your lap that Salvia had laid on, throwing it to the corner of the room, and grabbing another one (with a Barca logo in the middle of the large fuzzy blanket). You grabbed the remote and a bowl of popcorn, relaxing back on the couch and extending your arms outward.

"Come here, Pablito. Let me love on you."

He looked at you skeptically, as if you were going to retract the offer. He uncrossed his arms and moved over to you, laying his head on your chest, legs tangling with yours on the length of the couch. He wrapped his arms around your waist, sighing deeply and allowing himself to relax against you. You covered the both of you with the blanket, and started a new movie. You placed one hand in his hair and began raking your nails through it. You scratched his head slowly, causing him to whimper out. You then brought the other hand up onto his bare back, rubbing circles into it. You let your fingers slide gently up and down his skin.

"Head scratches and a back rub at the same time, amor? How did I get so lucky?"

You looked down at Pablo, pressing another gentle kiss into his forehead, lingering for a long moment.

"Just be quiet and let me love you, Pablo. You're the best thing in my life, I hope you know. Anything to make you happy - just say it and it's done."

Gavi's mouth hung open, like he was in shock. He buried his face back into your chest, and you felt the warmth of his cheeks against your skin. You giggled quietly, pulling him closer into you. You placed another kiss at the top of his soft hair.

"I love you Pablo."

"I love you too, amor. So much it's causing me physical chest pain."

"Aw baby, I don't want to hurt you."

"It's ok baby. You keep kissing it better."

Warning to all fiber artists

This is an updated and abbreviated post to warn all fiber artists about a scam artist that is currently fleecing the community. I will keep this post pinned and updated with new information as it becomes available.

There is a scam artist in the fiber arts community named Sherry Tenney. She sells fleece and wool on facebook and etsy. She frequently does not send the fleece or wool she has been paid for, and plays the customer until the time window for a dispute is passed. Afterward, if you continue to contact her, she will leave unhinged, violent, and threatening messages to you, doxx your name and address on her facebook live streams and posts, and still refuse to either send product or refund you.

A lot of complaints have also come forward about the product she does send out. It is frequently moth and larvae infested, contains large amounts of shit, completely matted fleeces, or are trimmings that are completely unusable. If you have received product from her you must quarantine it and freeze and bake it to destroy the moths and larvae.

She frequently tries to force smaller fleece sellers from small farms to go out of business to purchase their fleeces for cheap. She, with the help of several associates and sock puppet accounts, will contact people in the groups of small sellers and offer them fleeces for cheaper and claim they will be of better quality. She, and her associates and sock puppets, will then report the small farms public media repeatedly until they are taken down, thus preventing the farmer/shepard from being able to sell. Several small farms have confirmed losses of nearly 60% in sales due to her actions. Some have unfortunately gone out of business due to her actions as well.

Sherry has also focused her scam on small, independent suppliers as well. She will orders goods and services and then, once received, she will refuse to pay for them, or dispute charges with PayPal and her credit card. She will claim the items were never received, were not what she ordered, or were damaged. She will then sell them to gain a full, one hundred percent profit on the goods. If she contacts you to purchase goods, or to do labor on her farm, she will not pay you. Shearers on the east coast will not work with her or shear her sheep any longer because of her actions, and she depended on a young charity shearer to save her sheep from heat stroke this year.

Sherry Tenney is also currently trying to sell lambs on facebook (against facebook rules). Her animals do not have official papers (she does not control breeding, her ewes and rams are mixed together at all times), she does not know the breed of most of her sheep (lots of random breeds together with unknown breeding has resulted in unknown crossbreeds and a large quantity of inbreeding), and her sheep/lambs do not have the proper veterinary certificates that would be required for transport.

If you have a Ravelry account, this has all been compiled for viewing here. I do warn you, the videos are unnerving and I could barely stomach just reading the transcripts.

Here is a link to a google form filled out by those who Sherry has stolen from, and how much she has stolen. It is currently at over $15,000+ USD.

Here is a link to a YouTube channel of Sherry’s livestreams. I feel I should warn everyone that they can become violent and aggressive in nature, and several have been known to trigger survivors of domestic violence.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General has filed suit against her, and you can read the paperwork filed here. If you have filed a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General they will keep you up to date. If Sherry has stolen from you, please contact the Attorney General, even though they have already filed against Sherry, every victim coming forward helps. The next court date is February 1st, 2024.

Here is a link to a video on YouTube that goes into detail about the charges filed by the Pennsylvania Attorney General against Sherry Tenney. The judge has ruled that Sherry’s case is going forward, and has overruled Sherry’s lawyer’s attempt to get the charges thrown out. Cases take time, but Sherry Tenney is being charged!

Sherry Tenney has once again filed for bankruptcy! She filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Here is the info:

As you may know, Sherry Tenney has filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in the United States Bankruptcy Court in the Middle District of Pennsylvania under Case Number 1:23-bk-02752-HWV.

If you have not done so already, you may wish to file a proof of claim form in the bankruptcy. A proof of claim form may be filed either electronically or as a paper document. The Bankruptcy Court has set a deadline of February 12, 2024 for creditors to file proofs of claim. To assist you in that matter, we have enclosed a blank proof of claim form for you to complete and submit to the bankruptcy court.

If Sherry Tenney owes you money, please file immediately!

Sherry Tenney has made multiple claims that would indicate she is abusing and neglecting her animals. Please do not contact authorities as that would give Sherry Tenney reason to sue someone for harassment. That is the unfortunate state of laws in the US. All of her chickens died of neglect last year, she would not bring them in at night and they were eaten by local wildlife, and she has claimed that a fairly large number of her flock has passed away last year and this year as well, over 10%.

Sherry has changed the name of her facebook group to ‘McCullough Farm primitives and country life’ and is claiming that her farm is the historic McCullough farm. Her farm is not historic, the previous owner was named McCullough and it was owned by them since 2015, before that no McCullough’s owned it or were associated with it. In fact, Sherry bought the farm in 2021, it is not a generational farm. Her and her husband move states fairly frequently, they have no generational farm. She has changed her group name, and has started randomly posting stolen food recipes with stolen photos, in an attempt to confuse people and attract new victims to her group. Please warn others. Yes, she frequently uses the word ‘primitive’ for many things. She is that kind of person.

Sherry was selling in the FB group WAFA via pm, and was called out several times by customers who had received moth ridden fleece that was shorted weight. After a month the head of WAFA finally stepped in and kicked Sherry and several of her associates from the group. Unfortunately Brice Wonders of Spinaway Farms is still a member of the group, and he does work with Sherry. So WAFA is still a group that has a warning about using, as they are incredibly slow to react and only when called out on social media are they willing to take action at this time. WAFA has also contacted an attorney about the situation, though it is unknown what will be done.

Sherry has been stealing photos from noteworthy people in the fiber arts community and linking back to them in an attempt to appear that they associate with her. If you are well known in the fiber arts community please know that she will try to make it appear that you know her and approve of her business. So please be warned, and please warn others who follow you if you know that Sherry is doing this with your name.

Sherry is currently bragging about luring black bears to her farm to threaten her sheep by urinating, very frequently, on all of the fences that surround her animals. Human urine will attract black bears, as will animals left in the open all night that a bear would have easy access to. She enjoys luring them to the farm, and then brags about threatening them and shooting at them with her guns.

It cannot be stressed enough: DO NOT APPROACH THIS WOMAN IN PUBLIC OR AT PUBLIC EVENTS! She has threatened to shoot and kill people in several posts and rants, and brags about the amount of guns she has. Within recent days she has bragged about owning a glock, an AK, multiple shotguns, and frequently has them on her person. A shotgun has been spotted improperly and dangerous stored in the background of her photos. She is to be considered armed and dangerous at all times. Do not drive by her farm if you live in her area, do not sign up to attend a class if she holds one in person on her farm. She is a mentally unhinged and violent woman. She should not be approached in person at all costs. No one wants to see anyone hurt because of this. Especially now that her scam is failing and legal authorities have filed suit.

definitely a difficult task, but i think willa has potential to retain this title. she's protective, compassionate, and a good cook -- like what's not to love?? yet she also has her complexities because of hard decisions she's had to make and her loyalties. i put a lot of myself in her story and she has one of the most thorough backgrounds i've given to an oc. i find she brings me a lot of comfort and i'll continue to return to her.

GarVez Ficlet: Will they, Won't They?

Summary: Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds perfume does smell good though , lol :D Just a little GarVez jealous ficlet that popped in my head and I had to type it up. Hope you enjoy the little read.

Will they, Won’t They

“Penelope,” Tyler Green called from just over her shoulder as they, along with the two officers who escorted him about, exited the elevators and headed to the BAU conference room to continue their work on tracking Sicarius and his minions.

“Hmm?” Penelope hummed out in reply as she walked a step ahead of him and then stopped just outside the conference room’s opened doorway where she turned and gave him her full attention.

“You do know, that I got this cat for you, right? I didn’t expect to be taking care of it for you down in county lock up,” Tyler stated as he held the kitty and scratched about its head as it purred contently in his arms. “How did you even set that up anyway?”

“Oh, with my bubbly personality,” She said this as she shot a quick wink to the taller, and very muscular black officer who along with the other younger, leaner, white officer now stood on either side of the conference room door. The black officer smiled back at her and chuckled a little. She had actually been able to easily bribe the officers down at county lock-up with delicious home baked goods, and since Tyler was in isolation and seemed likely to not be charged with any serious crimes once things were all said and done, they had allowed the kitten to stay. “I thought you might like the company. Also, I have a cat and he does not play nice with other cats, though his best friend is a Belgian Shepard, oddly enough. So, have you given them a name yet?” She questioned as she stepped closer to Tyler and began to stroke and coo at the cute kitten.

“Kitty,” Tyler replied and Penelope rolled her eyes at him slightly.

“Kitty, really?” She scoffed, and he smiled a little as he found the expression on her face adorably cute. He discovered that he really liked seeing her smile and liked it even more if he was the cause of her smiles.

“Yes, well, it’s Kitty-Kitty, but I just call them Kitty for short,” He added and she snorted softly at him as her smile widened until her perfectly straight and brilliantly white teeth showed.

“That is so sad and very lazy of you,” She said through her giggles and Tyler chuckled a little to her merriment as he allowed his eyes to trace over her face. He thought she was very beautiful and really wished he had met her under difference circumstances.

“Maybe, but it works,” He said and she nodded as she leaned in closer and pressed her nose to the kitten’s.

“Yeah, it kind of does,” Penelope agreed. “Hi, Kitty-Kitty,” She spoke to the kitten in a babyish voice as she continued to stroke it. And Tyler subconsciously leaned his head down closer to her head and quietly breathed in her scent.

“I like your perfume,” He tossed out casually and she shot her eyes up to his as her smile faltered a little in her discomfort at being smelled. “What is that … White Diamonds?” He added on to try to make the fact that he was smelling her seem less creepy.

“Yeah,” Penelope answered with a smile and a look that told him she had been impressed by his nose. “Actually, no,” She then recanted as she bobbed her head and rolled her eyes some. “Back when Elizabeth Taylor first released White Diamonds, I loved it, but I was a broke kid and I couldn’t afford it. But I could afford the small cheap knockoff version. Which never smelled quite right and that bothered me so I Frankenstein’d like three different perfumes together until I got the scent just right. It’s pretty good huh?” She said this as she tilted her head to the side and craned her neck to him. Tyler only hesitated for a split second before he leaned his head down until his nose just barely brushed against the smooth curve of her neck. His eyes drifted closed as he drew in a deep breath.

“What the hell are you doing?” A voice barked out and both Penelope and Tyler abruptly righted themselves and turned to find the hard glaring eyes and scowling face of Luke Alvez, who stood before them holding a cup carrier that held two coffees from Lunacorn.

“Oh … hi, Luke,” Penelope stammered out nervously as Luke kept his angry eyes onto Tyler, who cautiously took a couple of steps back and clutched the kitten closer to his chest. “Uhm … I was just sharing my little secret about perfume making,” She said with a nervous smile and after a couple of silent seconds Luke shifted his eyes from Tyler and onto Penelope.

“May I speak to you in private for a moment?” Luke asked as he waved his left hand toward the door of the conference room.

“Okay,” Penelope replied in a small voice and she then walked into the room with Luke right behind her. He then closed the door.

“Are you loco, chica?” Luke questioned as he frowned down at Penelope.

“Excuse me?” She countered as her face began to show her growing irritation at him.

“You were just letting that guy paw all over you?”

“He was not pawing all over me,” She argued as she glared back up at him. “His hands weren’t even free because he was holding my kitty cat,” She added on and the way Luke’s mouth fell open and his eyes nearly popped out of his head, she instantly knew she had chosen the wrong words, which was an annoying occurrence whenever she was around him. “I mean the cat that he got me from the shelter, you perv,” She hissed out and Luke clamped his mouth shut and pushed down the urge building within him to go beat the hell out of Tyler Green.

“The guy is a criminal, Penelope, and it’s dangerous for you to allow him to get ‘that’ close to you,” Luke stated as he tried to give a convincing reason for her to stay away from Tyler Green.

“Oh, please, he’s not a dangerous criminal,” She tsked out as she rolled her eyes slightly. “He’s just a vengeful brother trying to find the man who murdered his sister. Sicarius is the bad guy not Tyler. Also, he didn’t do anything to me, I was just letting him smell my perfume.”

“Well, it looked like you two were shooting some cheesy soft porn movie out there,” Luke grumbled out and she gasped at his audacious words.

[Outside the Conference Room]

Rossi made his way over to where Tyler stood. Tyler side-eyed Rossi’s approach until the older man stood right beside him.

“I didn’t mean to cause a problem,” Tyler offered as he and Rossi stared into the opened window of the conference room, and watched what looked to be a very heated conversation between Luke and Penelope.

“My boy, you are not the cause of all of ‘that’ drama,” Rossi assured as he smirked and smacked his right hand against Tyler’s back in a friendly manner. He then steered Tyler away from the room and over to where Tara and JJ stood at their desks also watching the scene inside the conference room. “But I think you might be the catalyst to end it and a 6 year ‘will they, won’t they’ bet we’ve been running.”

“Yes, and that pot has a nice chunk of change in it now and if they finally ‘do’ before the year’s end I win it,” Tara chimed in excitedly as she folded her arms across her chest and stared intensely into the conference window.

[Inside the Conference Room]

“Soft porn, soft porn?” Penelope sputtered out in anger as she took a daring step toward where he stood. “He was just appreciating and admiring my perfume.”

“Oh, I could see he was appreciating and admiring something, but it damn sure wasn’t your perfume,” Luke shot back as he took a step closer. Now they stood a few inches apart, so close she had to crane her neck to look at him. And their chests heaved along with their maddened breaths, and their eyes shot daggers at the other’s.

“Why are you trying to make it seem sorted and dirty, Newbie,” She asked as she hissed out the moniker, that she hadn’t used on him in a couple of years. “And … and, why do you even care anyway, huh? What, are you jealous?” She questioned in a teasing manner saying something she was sure would make him back off.

“Yes, very,” He answered honestly and her eyes widened a bit and her mouth fell open in shock to what he had just confessed. Of all the things he could have said that was something she had never ever expected to spill from his mouth.

“Well, you don’t have anything to be jealous about, it was a very innocent encounter,” Penelope spoke this in a calmer and softer voice as she averted her eyes from his and over to the whiteboard they used in the room. It currently housed some pretty gory pictures of some of Sicarius victims but at that moment they were far less scary to her than holding Luke’s gaze. Luke also calmed his feelings as he nodded in reply to her words. He felt a little embarrassed that he had let it slip out that he was jealous of Tyler, but was also relieved that Penelope didn’t seem to be put off by it. In fact, her gentler tone and the blushing he could see she was fighting hard to hide told him she liked the idea of it. “And if it will make you feel better, I will not allow other men to smell my perfume anymore,” She added on and he gave her a pleased smile, and he instantly noted the ‘other men’ part of her sentence and how it was a verbal exclusion of all men except him.

“Thank you,” He said in a whispered tone as he smiled kindly down at her and she shot him a quick glance and sweet smile in return. “I brought you a coffee,” He continued as he grasped the cup with the coffee crafted just the way he knew she loved it, pulled it from the holder, and held it out to her. Her smile broadened as she ducked her head coyly and took the coffee.

“Thank you, Luke,” She said softly as she looked up and directly into his eyes.

“You’re welcome, Penelope,” He replied as he stared back at her. Neither of them noticed, but their spectators of friends watching from outside could see that their bodies were slowly shifting and moving closer together, like a centripetal force guided them. Luke leaned down as Penelope tilted her head back and lifted her mouth upward. Their lips were millimeters from touching when the opening of the door made them jump apart startled.

“Hey Penelope,” Prentiss called out from where she stood just in the doorway. She lifted her eyes from the file she had been reading. “Oh, hey Luke,” She greeted the other person in the room and he nodded at her as he pursed his lips to not show his frustration to her interruption. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to interrupt you two.” She offered now realizing that she had walked in on something between them.

“You didn’t, what can I help you with?” Penelope lied.

“Did you finish that search for all the missing person’s cases with the criteria I sent you, from the area and around the time Tyler’s sister went missing?”

“Yes,” Penelope replied in a perky voice as she straightened her shoulders and put on her business face. “It’s a 10-page print off. I left it in my office, I’ll go get it for you.”

“Thank you,” Prentiss said with a smile and then turned and moved away from the conference door. Penelope and Luke sent the other shy smiles and nods before Penelope hurried out of the room to go fetch the file for Prentiss. Prentiss walked further into the bullpen and this is when she noticed the disappointed and disapproving stares from her friends and co-workers as she made her way over to them.

“Has anyone ever told you that you have terrible timing?” Rossi was the first to speak to her, and Prentiss frowned in confusion.

“Yeah, you suck so bad right now,” Tara threw out playfully.

“What did I do?” Prentiss asked curiously as she eyed each of the four people standing before her as she awaited an explanation. It was JJ who would provide it.

“You just interrupted a ‘will they, or won’t they’ Garcia-Alvez moment,” JJ said giggling at the way Prentiss’s eyes enlarged and her mouth dropped slightly as she too was very invested in the outcome of that bet.

“Noo,” She responded, now disappointed in herself. She quickly shot her eyes back over to the conference room in time to see Penelope walking away with Luke standing there holding his coffee while staring after her longingly. “Damn it, I’m sorry guys,” She turned back to them as JJ and Tara moved to their desks, Tyler simply stood there entertained as he scratched Kitty-Kitty’s head, and Rossi turn to head to the stairs to make his way up to his office.

“And I think that was definitely going to be a ‘They Will’ moment,” He said with a chuckle as he walked off.

Netflix’s Viewership Data Provides Glimpse Into Renewal Decisions: ‘Shadow And Bone’ Was Most Watched Canceled Series In First Half Of 2023

Streaming giant Netflix has always said that the decisions whether to renew a show or not are based on performance vs. cost. The release today of What We Watched, a Netflix report on global viewed hours for 18,000 titles — original and licensed — from January to June of 2023 provides context on the calls the streamer made for seasons that debuted during that period.

It won’t come as much of a consolation to Shadow and Bone fans, who are still reeling from the fantasy drama’s cancellation after two seasons, but it was the most watched English-language scripted series from that period to get the axe, amassing 192.9M hours viewed from its March 16 debut through end of June to rank #26.

'Good Times' Sets Ranada Shepard As Showrunner; JB Smoove, Yvette Nicole Brown & Jay Pharoah To Star In Netflix's Animated Reboot

Shadow and Bone was one of five series Netflix opted not to continue in November, along with Glamorous and adult animated comedies Agent Elvis, Farzar and Captain Fall. The decision came on the heels of the double Hollywood strikes, which scrambled networks and streamers’ scheduling plans, with shows missing their projected launches to create long gaps between seasons and a pipeline logjam for late 2024 and 2025.

Strike-related delays and the high price tag of Shadow and Bone likely played a role in its demise, despite it also spawning a video game franchise for Netflix.

And while there are other factors beyond performance determining each show’s fate, including cost and awards attention, the streamer’s report reveals Shadow and Bone‘s viewership levels as an approximate threshold for hourlong English-language series from that period to get renewed. (Because data is based on hours viewed, comedies can draw half as many hours for a similar level of performance.)

All series above Shadow and Bone eligible for renewal have been picked up for another season, including Vikings: Valhalla (#22, 205.5M), whose upcoming third season will be its last.

The first new season below Shadow and Bone S2, Sweet Tooth (S2, #28) which posted 182.3M hours, has been renewed for a third and final season. The next English-language scripted series, Sex/Life S2 (#31, 175.5M) has been canceled, as were other dramas lower on the list whose seasons launched within the January-June window.

Data for Glamorous is skewed as it premiered in late June, drawing 36.6M hours (#484) for the first nine days of viewing within the measured period.

Netflix has been more lenient with its comedy renewals.

While That ’90s Show S1 ranked #100 with a respectable 95.1M hours viewed for a half-hour show, fellow multi-camera sitcom The Upshaws Part 3, which consisted of 8 episodes vs. 10 for the That ’70s Show sequel, ranked just below #1000 with 21.6M hours. Both have been renewed for additional installments, as has the Rob Lowe’s single-camera comedy Unstable, whose first season ranked #511 with 35.3M hours across 8 episodes.

For comparison, fellow freshman half-hour XO, Kitty (10 eps) logged 200.7M hours to rank #24, the highest for an ongoing comedy to drop a new season from Jan-June 2023.

As for Agent Elvis, featuring Matthew McConaughey as the voice of Elvis Presley, the first season of the animated comedy, which premiered in March, ranked #3306 with a paltry 5.5M hours viewed.

I knew it. Netflix lied. They said Shadow and Bone was unpopular, just to make a play at replacing it with the Queer-centered Six of Crows. I suppose it's for the best. I still enjoy the series, but after all of this, have come to notice that not one couple on that show was allowed to be happy EXCEPT the Queer one.
