Wait, are you an only child too?? If so, thank goodness. Siblings fascinate me. I'm jealous but also relieved. Looks like sibling dynamics just really depend on circumstances. But I love reading material that play out the Pines relationships in a way that siblings feel is super accurate because they're usually a blend of goofiness, intimacy, annoyances, and love that I just. Ugh, I'm so jealous.
From the outside, it looks like "I'll kill you for a Klondike bar but I would end the world if someone gave you so much as a papercut."
That's the funny thing anon-
[I have two older (half) brothers.]
We share a mom.
ON TOP OF THAT!! The gap in age from me is 16 and 19 years!
Because of this, coupled with tensions my dad made with them, I grew up more with a single child mentality. The eldest had a family before I was a teen and moved out and the middle almost had nothing to do with me until I was much older (I blame dad for that) but he was nice enough to let me borrow or play his games. Not to say they didn't or don't love me, it was just hard to get close with them. But we get along great now!
As for the brothers themselves, stories our mom told me often revolve around them putting each other in the doctor's office. They get along much better these days.

i was just going thru some notes i have for brainstorming purposes and came across something i forgot ab
picture it w me, if you will:
no upside down modern au, alpha!eddie/omega!steve (bc apparently that's where my brain always goes)
steve is drunk at a party and either billy or tommy (also drunk) takes advantage of him. he ends up pregnant, kicked out, b/t wants nothing to do w any of it. steve's mom (bc we appreciate one good parent in this house) sends him money every month in exchange for pictures and updates of child w/o his dad's knowledge.
eddie meet him at some kind of organization event for underprivileged kids that he volunteers at bc he was that kid and knows how important they are. at first, he thinks steve is another volunteer & is absolutely enamored by him. but once he sees steve's kid run up to him, he decides to back off bc he assumes this means steve is in a relationship. he keeps seeing steve around and silently pines the whole time bc he's accepted that he'll never have him.
until eddie is at the library, hosting d&d. the party joins a few campaigns, and he gets to know them a little. he likes them, they're good kids (teenagers, technically). one day steve brings his toddler to the library bc they like to look thru the picture books on steve's days off. he also knows that the party goes to d&d that day and wants to say hi. when he leaves, eddie asks the party if they know him, and they explain that steve used to babysit them and drove them around a lot when they were in middle school. he uses this as an in w steve, resolved to just talk to him once and maybe be his friend.
he asks ab the kid's other parent simply for small talk purposes, wondering what they're like and why eddie's never seen them around. steve explains that he's a single parent; the kid's father was an asshole that didn't want to face the consequences of his actions.
cue eddie desperately doing everything possible to impress this child so he can prove to steve just how serious he is ab being w them. i like the think of it in the same vein as your moms new boyfriend trying to make you like him, even tho you already do and there's no need for him to try That Hard. but much more ridiculous and dramatic in true eddie munson fashion.

My headcanons for the named trio in The Cursing of Chateau Castle series:
Josephandre is a big bear. It just fits for him I think! He gets he/him pronouns, and as a way to make him a liiiil more relatable for Mira, he'd have two craft types (Rock type being his main one and paper craft for the other). Battle style wise, I think it fits him to be more of a self-sustaining tank. He buffs defense, heals, and puts up shields. For his weapon, he'd use his fists like Isabeau. He'll be the second fastest in the trio.
Lady Irene-Janine-Kanine looks like an elegant noblewoman on the outside but she has vibes similar to Euphrasie! She gets she/her pronouns. Her craft type is Paper. Battle style wise, she's more on the offensive side, a main dps kind of thing. Most of her skills focus on buffing attack and speed, she'd have an item that helps regen her hp a lil bit and her chosen weapon is an umbrella. The tip is a sharp blade so it's used like a spear that has a hidden sword in its handle. Open it, and it becomes a shield! That'd be one of her skills too, although it's only applicable to her. She's the fastest one of the trio.
Pierre-Jacques-Erneste looks like a nobleman and carries himself as such! He gets he/they pronouns. Their craft type is Scissors. Battle style wise, he's more of a debuffer, skills focusing on weakening the enemies, slowing them down, poisoning them. Their weapon is a sword dagger, though he doesn't seem to be able to handle it well, how clumsy! But he Is a nobleman so it makes sense! Oh but... why doesn't he have a title? They're the slowest one of the trio, how strange, he seemed to be faster than Lady Irene-Janine-Karine that one time though.

This is probably not a new observation, but I love this costuming choice for Sam in "The Family Business."
She's generally a very upbeat person, which is reflected in what she wears (lots of pastels or bright colors, frills, patterns, etc.), so it's really kind of jarring to see her wearing black all of a sudden. But then she has that conversation with Hetty and it's like ohhhhh. She's still grieving both the actual loss of her mom (twice!) and the type of mother-daughter relationship she wishes they could have had. Her mom was so critical of her (which she did get some closure on) and it really shows in her need for approval (like desperately trying to get the guests to like her in "Spies") and her resentment of criticism. She's just repeating the same pattern with Hetty, defying her and getting angry when she doesn't trust her judgement. Her blouse is a really simple but effective color choice to reinforce that her mom's passing is clearly something that still weighs on her, and how she and Hetty being each other's "second chance" and building a mutually respectful relationship going forward is part of her healing process
Also random sidenote that I have nowhere else to put- In early season one, whenever Sam and Jay get into a fight and he calls her out on something, she tends to blow up and storm off. They've moved away from that (which I'm glad, I like seeing them work through things healthily and being supportive of each other), but in retrospect it makes a lot of sense why she's so sensitive about that. I think it was a great idea to explore that same type of friction with Hetty.

I love taituk they’re so funny. they’re simultaneously really cool and capable and. kind of a loser. wet cat of a woman (not actually a woman). a dykefag AND a fagdyke. they can’t tell when people are flirting with them and suaveness is Not in their vocabulary. everyone wants them and they’re involved with quite literally every crew member their age. their reaction to there being “men’s work” and “women’s work” is “I will simply do everything. all of the work.” they’re fine with the concept & reality of death but thinking about killing somebody with their own hands makes them physically ill. they will quite literally heal their enemies so they don’t die. they’re eldestsiblingcore but only see their siblings like. twice a year. they could be stabbed and bleeding out and their only reaction would be “ugh now my favourite jacket will be stained :/”. they don’t know what’s going on at any given moment. they’ve been permanently banned from the ship’s kitchen even though they’re the captain. by god they’re even transgender. they’ve even got long hair
