The girls were too nervous to find words, and neither the ancient ladies nor the china dogs seemed conversationally inclined. Anne glanced about the room. What a dear place it was! Another door opened out of it directly into the pine grove and the robins came boldly up on the very step. The floor was spotted with round, braided mats, such as Marilla made at Green Gables, but which were considered out of date everywhere else, even in Avonlea. And yet here they were on Spofford Avenue! A big, polished grandfather’s clock ticked loudly and solemnly in a corner. There were delightful little cupboards over the mantelpiece, behind whose glass doors gleamed quaint bits of china. The walls were hung with old prints and silhouettes. In one corner the stairs went up, and at the first low turn was a long window with an inviting seat. It was all just as Anne had known it must be.

dinner in america is such a “take what you want from it and leave the rest” movie for me because i do think it’s very cute and i can buy into some of the wish fulfillment nature of the story but admittedly there are some parts that really don’t work for me, there are some parts that fall a little flat either in terms of the characters or humor, and the pacing is a bit of a challenge tbh. but it’s unbelievable what the human brain can overcome by virtue of simply Just Liking That Guy

i think one of the hardest parts about having so many dietary restrictions is like.. eating out ever with my family. i have to pay so much money for a meal i have to dissect. why am i paying $5+ for a burger patty on a plate with some condiments? without the bun its not filling at all, i need 3. $15 for the bare minimum satisfaction of feeling full. fries are a toss up because even if theyre not battered with egg or wheat, theyre very likely using the same fryers as batter that IS allergic and chicken to boot! so do i risk it? do i pay nearly $20 for a meal of unsatisfactory meat on a plate and fries that will likely make me sick? or do i save my money, come home, and eat rice and beans for the 23940829302nd meal in a row and want to cry? my husband never eats at his favorite restaurants anymore because none of them have anything i can eat. for his birthday we spent $200 at a restaurant that didnt have a single allergy-friendly thing on the menu, so i just sat there hungry while they ate. it fucking sucks.

DMC crew and the impressions of casual touch they give off because I can

Disclaimer - everyone in DMC has a problem with casual touch; this is written for my gen pleasure, no ships here

Nero: as the true punk boy - half of the time he expresses affection with punches, and is a little embarrassed. Has the closest to 'normal' reaction to casual touch as Spardas get. Lots of shoulder&fist bumps with Nico. Few people will get actual hugs from him and they are very good, probably grips a little too hard, but that's how he expresses earnestness. Kyrie gets extremely soft hugs though.

Kyrie: warm and enveloping hugs, she is a sweet person and Will hug someone if she thinks they need it. On the other hand I wish we could see her slap some sense into someone (*cough* Vergil *cough*)

Nico: limited to shoulder&fist bumps, no hugs. Very casual with touch

Lady&Trish: I don't think either of them has any idea what casual touch even means, touch aversive

Lucia: she is unsure if other people would like to be friends with her, so if there are hugs they will be a little needy, but she is very-well meaning in her touch. If sure of friendship, she is very good with casual touch. 10/10 hand-holding

Vergil: if our favourite iceberg man ever gets over himself and finally hugs someone (for his own sake) it will be stiff, because he is definitely unused to casual touch, but also the hug will be somewhat forceful because, damn this man Needs them. Will hug once in a few years. Is completely immune to closeness with Dante, enjoys it nonetheless.

Dante: 'masking as clown'-wise he forces all types of casual touch and it can be uncomfortable - that is the point - Dante generally does not want people get close to him. After 5, however he is much more casual, maybe a little awkward because he is unused to not-hiding, and always struggles to accept people wanting to be close with him. Vergil gets genuine affectionate touch, little-brother-annoying touch (will clingy-piggyback Vergil when he can) the whole shbang. Nero gets warm and enveloping hugs, because Dante Adores his nephew, especially when he acts like a punk then it's noogie time.

Patty: she is a lady, thank you very much, so can be aloof with touch, but she is actually very good at it. Will bodily throw herself at Dante at almost every opportunity (he is absolutely wrapped around her little finger so always catches her and spins around a little) , mandatory hand-holding for him too. Will high-five Nero a lot.

#tales of vesperia #removing repede because clearly a dog is the best choice and im more curious about the human option results #I'm actually gonna say karol because he's quite handy and it'd be fun to dote on him a little :) #yuri is a bit of a slob as shown in the first strike but otherwise a good option #estelle is sweet but naive like she'd totally fuck up your nonstick pans by accident. can't stay mad at her though #rita would be the worst i bet shes totally blind and indifferent towards her own messes #judith would be great but i imagine she's the type to walk around her home half naked so you'd need to get used to that #raven might be alright? i feel like he's the type to not spend much time at home though #flynn also is a fair option im sure hes tidy but maybe a bit of a stickler. also he works so much it'd be hard to invite him places #and lastly patty is a little too chaotic to me. the type to use the windows instead of the doors. or put a live fish in the fridge. #as for write-ins i think ioder would be pretty chill
