welcome to my crib
hello, hello party people!! i’m guessing you are here because you are my friend and I made you keep up with my blog posts lol. if that’s not the case, WELCOME you are in for a nice ride full of pictures, rants about my life and what being obsessed with photography is like.
a little background on me: my name is Tania Cruz and i am currently a junior at the University of Houston studying marketing. i’m so close to graduating i can almost taste it. i currently still live at home (no shame, eating free is NICE 10/10 would recommend) and have 3 younger siblings who are my entire LIFE.  i am a first-gen student so i’m just out here trying to make it and make my parents proud. i am constantly running all over the place like a chicken with it’s head cut off between school, work, family and extracurricular activities. i currently work at Paul Mitchell the School as a lead specialist. as for my side hustle, i work as the campus ambassador for Coca-Cola here at UH where i get paid to post on social media and sample products to students, like how much cooler does that get? i quite often enjoy flexing this.
as for my interests… i LOVE playing soccer. i have been playing since i was 13 and it has been my love ever since. i continued to play throughout high school making my school’s varsity team my freshman year, played club soccer, and currently play for the club team here at UH. i also enjoy being lazy at home, cuddled up in bed watching the office for the 5th time in a row. i am pretty laid back and enjoy the simple things in life such as shopping, trying new food places and spending time with my fam or boyfriend.
however, my absolute deepest passion is photography. i have had an eye for photography for quite some time now. i consider myself as THAT friend who everyone comes up to for editing, captioning or picture taking advice. I take great pride in my instagram which is currently how i practice and perfect my craft. i have gone through several phases of creating an aesthetically pleasing feed for my followers. these stages ranging from vsco to the uproar of the huji up to being presets off of etsy. as i have grown, my tastes and eye has developed into what it is today. i love capturing moments as i believe that photography is the gateway to forever memories. photographing a moment, event, or loved one is so important in that it will last forever and serve to remind you of that specific memory. not only are pictures seen everywhere from the frames decorating your home, to your social media to on the news, photography is the evidence of moments. i do a lot of non-serious photography and am slowly trying to become more serious and i cannot wait to have you all embark this journey with me! <3

The Bride Gift List Edit: What To Buy The Bride In Your Life
Making a wedding gift list when you’re a bride is totally kosher in my book (maybe I’m biased given I’ve already made one). From practical presents to use on our wedding day to those pretty little things that I dream to splurge on but likely won’t given the many other essential wedding budget priorities.
Whether you’re the bride or you have one near and dear to your heart, there are plenty of thoughtful and splurge-worthy goodies out there for your gift list, and we’ve teamed up with Kacey Mya Bradley of The Drifter Collective to update our Gorgeous Gift Ideas For The Bride In Your Life.
Gift List Guide from Kacey of The Drifter Collective
Whenever a wedding rolls around, most people head straight for the gift registry. There, they find a list of everything the bride and groom need. And, while those gifts are appreciated and useful, in some situations, you might want to look for something more unique and personal. Whether the bride is your bride-to-be, your best friend, your mom or your sister, you want to do something unexpected and special for her.
Fortunately, there are plenty of gifts to choose from that are memorable, thoughtful and useful, whether or not they’re on the registry. The following are nine unique gift ideas to buy a bride who is dear to your heart.
Personalized Coffee Cups
Chances are, your bride-to-be has a whole list of kitchen items that she wants for her newlywed nest. Plates, bowls, silverware, casserole dishes, pots, pans – the options are endless. So, if you pick up these personalized coffee mugs, she’ll certainly put them to good use, too. They’re extra special because they’re custom made by an Etsy artisan to feature the bride and groom’s new last name.
How-To Guide to Cooking
Perhaps you know your best friend and bride-to-be isn’t quite the most experienced cook. You can fix all that by scooping up a copy of Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking. This isn’t a cookbook, but rather a how-to guide on becoming the master chef you know she could be if only she’d give it a shot (and give up on Domino’s).

Pre-Wedding Pampering Kit
Will your girl take care of herself first or last? If the answer is the latter, then you have to do your best to put the bride’s well being back into the spotlight, especially if she’s running herself too thin while planning her wedding. A calming bath set could inspire her to take a few minutes’ rest, relax and restore her glow just in time for the big day.
  Wedding Day Jewelry
If you know the bride well enough, investing in a piece of jewelry for her to wear down the aisle could be the most memorable gift of all. She’s already got her engagement ring, but other diamond accents could shed even more light on her. You’ll want to consider her ring’s style, as well as the style of her dress before picking up a set of earrings, a necklace or a bracelet to match her overall wedding look.

Cake Stand
Tradition says that every newlywed couple should save the top tier of their wedding cake and eat it after a happy, successful year of marriage. Use your bridal shower gift to think ahead to that special day: give the bride a cake stand with a note saying it’s for serving that one-year-old confection she’ll soon have waiting in her freezer.

Handmade Map
If you’re close to the bride, you probably know where she met her fiancé and where they fell in love. Or maybe they always vacation in the same place or share a love for the same city. Perhaps they come from the same hometown. No matter what the story is, you can commemorate the place where their love blossomed with a custom contour map from Pangea. The eye-catching result will hang on their wall for years to come, we promise.

Custom Ring Dish
The fun of wedding planning and bride-to-be-ing starts with a ring, of course. Because this isn’t just any piece of jewelry – it commemorates a life that’ll be spent together in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. It should have a special place to go when it’s not on the bride’s finger. This sweet customized ring dish will do the trick, holding onto the ring and showcasing the couple’s initials and wedding date to boot.

Monogram Stamp
A bride has a lot of post-wedding thank you notes to send. And, with each note, she has to pen a return address in the upper left-hand corner of each envelope she sends. Save her from impending carpal tunnel with this personalized monogrammed mail stamp, or these many style options at Simply Stamps, which will beautifully print her new last name and address on every single envelope she sends from here on out.

Pretty Vow Books
Wedding day keepsakes can be tearjerkers for years to come. Beyond the photos and videos, your bride can save and remember each word of those special vows for years to come with pretty, luxury vow books. Handmade, with gorgeous velvet covers, silk ribbons, and luxury papers this gift will be a keepsake that can last a lifetime.

Here Comes the Gift
These are just nine ideas, but there’s so much you can do to lavish your favorite bride-to-be in the days and weeks leading up to her wedding. A thoughtful gift is just one way to show her how much you care, but your presence and support is something she’s sure to value too as she makes her way toward the big day. By grabbing one of these custom gifts and standing by her side, you’ll give her the best of both worlds — and that’s something she won’t soon forget.

Social Practice in Art
Hey guys,
I really enjoyed this week’s readings and information provided. I learned quite a bit about relational aesthetics and what it means in terms of art. To start, relational aesthetics was described as “a way of looking at things, as a guiding principle and as an approach to artmaking.” What made this week so interesting to me was the fact that this type of art requires actual engagement from viewers. What I mean by this is that the art isn’t just seen. In order for the piece to be seen as relational aesthetics, the artist and viewers must interact in some way.
I am going to start with my relevant artist of choice this week, Harrell Fletcher. Fletcher has produced a wide variety of socially engaging artworks throughout his time as an artist. His works have been shown all over, in many different museums and exhibitions. He received his BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. One of my favorite pieces that I found was titled “Mt. Hood Walk.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this art form, he took a group of his college students, through a summer course, on a five-day project through Oregon’s regional history. Their time was spent walking, camping and presenting in different areas. Then, many of the activities were captured through photography. In this sense, his work and “viewers” interacted constantly through means of the actual project being completed. I found this to be quite a bit like Tania Bruguera’s work.
In her artist interview, Bruguera was quoted to say that she likes to “go beyond art by trying things that aren’t considered art.” Therefore, through relational aesthetics, she converts things that aren’t considered art into beautiful interactions between artist and viewer. She likes to focus on important political issues, especially those within her home of Cuba. She takes issues, and constructs them in to her own art pieces, and intends for viewers to engage in the art. I found one of her pieces to be extremely stunning and eye opening. It was titled Tatlin’s Whisper #5.
Tumblr media
Here, she took police officers on horses, and stuck them in a museum. Normally, when one sees police officers on horses, they are meant to contain large crowds-often of rioters, parades, protests, etc. It is not very often that normal citizens interact with the police officers. However, in this instance, Bruguera used the police officers on horses to create her piece. Their job was to treat the onlookers at the museum as if they were involved in the crowd. They told people to move, back up, stop standing where they were, leave, etc. Bruguera wanted people to understand the feeling of being told something by a police officer, and doing what they say as soon as they say it.
I found this to be groundbreaking. She wanted people to feel the emotional pull of being one of the crowd. She wanted them to experience the wide array of feelings of anger, confusion, guilt, etc. as people do in certain political situations. It is very neat stuff!
Then, we have the essay and picture by and about Kevin Carter. Here, we also see political issues brought to light, but in a very different, difficult manner. Through the use of photojournalism, Carter tried to raise awareness to grave issues going on in global society. The picture of the Sudanese girl proved this-by a devastating picture of a ghastly malnourished girl, with a vulture behind her-inherently waiting for her death. The goal of photojournalism is to raise awareness to important issues. Unfortunately, it can often be misconstrued or not seen at all. In today’s society, it is too easy to just “unsee” difficult things, as we are able to scroll right past them or quickly change the channel. However, we all have a duty to embrace these things, learn from them, and take a stand against them in some way.
Tumblr media
Thanks everyone,
Morgan

Threats I learn quickly and am dedicated to projects and teams and I’m learning to drive so it is possible to relocate for work and animation companies are based all over the country and I have the possibility of moving countries though this can reckless
 New projects
Aardman is currently filming the stop motion film “Early man” plus series “Munkie and Trunk” and morph
Cloth Cat is currently working on Luo Bao Bei a 2d animated series, Tolibob, little oaks and Toot the Tiny Tugboat.
Double Negative movie Blade runner 2049, Annihilation, Dunkirk, Fast 8, Geostorm, Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, Justice League Part One, The Solutrean.
Bungie is currently maintaining and developing extra content for the game Destiny which Massive Multiplayer online game currently released and supported by bungie studio
Weta Digital the movie War for planet of the apes, Justice League, Valérian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
 Social media
The first stage was to create a professional LinkedIn account based on my skills and current ideas for work. Second step was to follow industry studios, the major things I need to do next is build up and maintain my media presence my posting on and following others on LinkedIn which I haven’t done yet as I am new to the site, the easiest way to improve will seeing the type of posts other students post and what other more senior animators do on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn premium would allow me to investigate and make the most of opportunities presented by the companies I am following
Tasks to undertake inspired by the report
Improving my online presence, rewrite the template of my C.V and adapt for each application start networking through events and online, consider training with software that is available to me “Adobe software” is the most available as other high end software is unfeasibly expensive for a starting freelance animator. Though Maya for 3D animation is another skillset worth investigating.
  Summary of findings and plan
From my research a lot of the jobs available ask for several years’ experience in certain roles so looking for lower roles in these companies, such as Assistants, Runner or Inbetweener, would be a good way to start in the animation industry but shouldn’t stop me from aiming higher whenever opportunities occur, building up a professional media presence will help get my name out there, but also physical networking also increases your renown, building on my skills and picking up others makes for more employability as it stands my preference is for character design and animation using 2d mediums, I am approaching mix medium and CGI animation studios along with a games company in the USA which comes with its own challenges to deal with. Although I mostly looked at United Kingdom based studios oversea projects are possible if I invest time to learn what’s needed.
 Opportunities that have arisen
Due to still being in third year of University looking for opportunities that came up during the investigation was important though not as open as when fully graduated, on 10th of February I received news of a university linked opening for ClothCat Animation for Junior Celaction animators, the University of South Wales would still count applicants as students allowing for Graduation though dropping of some of the curriculum. With industry work being submitted instead for marking to finish the course. While I have found through LinkedIn and social media pages more companies looking for animators but these are less of an option currently while still in education than the ClothCat Offer.

New Exhibition At The Barnes Spotlights Thought-Provoking Art In Public Spaces
Throughout the 20th century, some of the world’s most socially engaged artists used their cities as their muse, foraging clues from their surroundings so that they could tell the good, bad and even ugly stories of our metropolises as they evolved throughout the Industrial Age and beyond.
This artistic strategy is called flânerie, and it’s the subject of an engaging new special exhibition at The Barnes Foundation, Person of the Crowd: The Contemporary Art of Flânerie. The exciting multimedia collection spotlights some of the world’s most effective artist-flâneurs — provocateurs like Marina Abramović, Zhang Huan and Sanford Biggers — and the work they do to shine light on issues affecting modern cities.
FAST FACTS
Person of the Crowd: The Contemporary Art of Flânerie is on view February 25 to May 22 in The Barnes’ special exhibition gallery.
A ticket to the exhibition grants access to The Barnes’ permanent collection, too.
More than 50 artists are represented in the show, including masterminds Sanford Biggers, Marina Abramović and Zhang Huan.
What is Flânerie?
The concept of flânerie was born in Edgar Allan Poe’s 1840 short story “The Man of the Crowd,” in which the author introduces a character type known as a flâneur, or “stroller.” This keen observer would roam his city, gathering physical and mental clues from its inhabitants and their public activities for insight into the modern urban experience.
The idea was further championed in Charles Baudelaire’s 1863 essay “The Painter of Modern Life.” The work recognized flânerie as an effective tool in portraying city life and foretold the arrival of some of our first artist-flâneurs, the French impressionists.
In subsequent decades, envelope-pushing artists adopted the strategy to (sometimes controversially) shine a light on issues facing urban areas around the globe. This resulted in provocative works that took on every kind of issue from homelessness and gender equality to race and gentrification.
Person of the Crowd: The Contemporary Art of Flânerie brings together a collection of these statement pieces to reveal how contemporary artists used flânerie to engage the world around them from the 1930s to today.

The exhibition is a gritty, dense and noisy playground of contemporary art. It comes to life in film screenings, photography, found objects, costumes and more. There’s no defined path to view the exhibition — go in and explore, just like a flâneur might do.
Here are some of the gems you’ll encounter:
As you enter The Barnes’ Roberts Gallery, you’re greeted by a startling human-like figure made of mud and wood and spiked with rusty nails. This is part of a performance piece by Cuban artist Tania Bruguera called “Displacement.” Directly behind the costume you’ll find a video of Bruguera wearing it in Havana, with curious spectators in tow.
This is one of more than a dozen large- and small-scale video installations included in the exhibition. Another is Zhang Huan’s “My New York,” which shows the Chinese artist stomping through the Upper East Side in a suit made out of raw meat in the wake of 9/11.
In engaging random people on the street in this confrontational, almost comical way, he hoped to promote a comforting and more hopeful vision in the midst of troubled times.
Marina Abramović’s piece “Role Exchange” consists of two black and white photographs representing a night she traded places with a sex worker in Amsterdam. Abramović stood in a window tempting eager passersby in the Red Light District, while the prostitute attended an art opening in the artist’s stead.

Person of the Crowd spotlights some of the world’s most effective artist-flâneurs — provocateurs like Marina Abramović, Zhang Huan and Sanford Biggers, whose work is shown here.
This is only a sampling of the unique discoveries you’ll come face to face within Person of the Crowd, which also includes Sanford Biggers’ found-object art, a chalk sketch by Keith Haring and a giant rosary made out of curious objects that artist Brett Day Windham picked up off the street every day for five years.
Events and Outside Components
The Barnes has curated what they call their most ambitious exhibit-complementing event series to date.
A spontaneous lineup of live street performances by current artist-flâneurs like Sanford Biggers, Ayana Evans and Wilmer Wilson IV hit the streets of Philadelphia throughout the exhibit’s run.
For a deeper dive into the work you’ll find in Person of the Crowd, check out informative guest lectures by some of the artists included in the exhibition. Lee Mingwei speaks on March 15, and Tania Bruguera comes on May 17.

Keep your eyes peeled as you’re strolling around the city. Billboards, poster projects and public sculptures decorate neighborhoods from Fishtown to Center City.

Tickets and More
Tickets to Person of the Crowd: The Contemporary Art of Flânerie can be purchased online.
Admission to the permanent collection includes free access to the exhibition. General admission is $25 for adults, $23 for seniors and $10 for youth and students. Members, as always, get in free.
Don’t miss a chance to witness this truly unique exhibition. It’s an eye-opener!
