wanted to try to design a wraith based more on american myths and fears. cryptids are often shadowy, fleeting masses in the unknown wilderness.

there's also a lot of superstition about ghosts or entities that lurk in peripherals or dark corners

there but never wanting to be seen.

it's unknown if it's malevolent. it follows the captain around on the cave floor, observing. i think it would foster paranoia. it undoes item collection progress or rearranges when you aren't looking

would make for an interesting game of hide and seek, depending on who's doing the seeking.....

little bit more about my wraith oc (because people in the tags seemed to like it & that made me very happys)

i've been calling it the bubble wraith! it acts very curious and childlike, and doesn't seem to have the means or desire to attack pikmin directly, but it can steal pikmin from your group by ensnaring their leaves in some of the frothy pink bubbles that make up its body, putting the pikmin under its control

it can take the vague shape of most creatures, but it loves to mimic the captains. its even picked up a little bit of language (though stilted and in a garbly, alien voice) but all it talks about is wanting to "play" <:]

We received an S.O.S. signal from a crashed ship and went to investigate. Upon arrival, we discovered this large, nectar-based life form had absconded with a piece of the ship we were looking for! It is unknown the true nature of the Nectar Wraith, as it seems quite ambivalent to any space farers, and very amicable to the native Pikmin, gathering it in the foliage on its back and ferrying them to places they couldn't possibly get to. We managed to crack the amber head on it to get back the stolen ship part, but it retreated with a rather upset sounding groan, taking any loose Pikmin with it... Does it mean any harm, or is it trying to help? What does it want with these ship parts, and why do the Pikmin have such loyalty to this thing?

I forgot to post these here! another Pik-sona, The Lunar Wraith More info under the cut:

the lunar wraith is a mysterious being, even by wraith standards. Much more intelligent and curious than other documented wraiths, reported to sit and observe captains from a distance before becoming invisible and intangible upon approach. the full extent of their abilities and their roll in the planet's ecology is unknown, but aside from shapeshifting, mastery of elements, and warping of space-time itself it appears to responsible for much higher populations of creatures than other surrounding areas, creating them from it's own biomass and seemingly mutating normal life to it's tastes.

the lunar wraith is best described with two words: 'Curious' and "Playful", it does not act out of malice but wishes to learn about the things it sees, toying with them and performing 'experiments'. it is believed that this wraith can even Speak galactic standard, but it is uncertain if this is an illusion or psychic phenomena as the being does not register on electronic equipment.

i tried to make a wraith

mushroom wraith. i was gonna use like. actual mushroom cloud colors but it'd look too much like the plasm wraith i think and i like the green of the glow pikmin and adventure time mushroom war

it has four legs bc waterwraith doesnt (usually) walk at all and plasm wraith walks on two legs, same reason for the holes in its face

the things on the legs are like spinnerets but they shoot poisonous gas
