breaking my silence on chess the musical to say that i would literally not give a fuck about this show if i thought it was good or fully successful at what it is saying. SORRY! i love how messy she is. i love how since 1984 and continuing to this very day people with entirely different perceptions of and opinions on the musical have attempted in their own ways to "make it good" by creating all these different versions with like notably different plots, characterization, and song order, and i love how fucking bad the vast majority of these are despite it all. i hope people keep trying to fix chess the musical forever and until the end of time. i hope no one ever figures it out. i want every currently living theatre director in existence to make their own version and for all these versions to come out on broadway at the same time, making that year's musical season entirely comprised of various different versions of the cold war chess musical by tim rice and half of abba. i want not only our greatest minds but also our middlest-of-the-road and worst minds to come up with their own conclusions as to why chess does not entirely work in its original form or any subsequent forms like to really think about it and yes i do want someone to dedicate their entire life to perfecting chess by releasing version after version after version until they die peacefully but still, as always, in the grips of obsession. i want marriages to be broken up. i want mental states to be shattered. i dream of this world

Radical compassion is a will to care for, a commitment to feel with, a striving to learn from, and an openness to be vulnerable before a precarious other, though they may be drastically dissimilar to yourself. Radical compassion is not an appeal to an idyllic oneness where difference is blithely effaced. Nor is it a smug projection of oneself into the position of another, thereby displacing that other. Nor is it an invitation to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes and amble, like a tourist, through their lifeworld, leaving them existentially barefoot all the while. Rather, radical compassion is an exhortation to ethically walk and sit and fight and build alongside another whose condition may be utterly unlike your own. Radical compassion works to impart care, exchange feeling, transmit understanding, embolden vulnerability, and fortify solidarity across circumstantial, sociocultural, phenomenological, and ontological chasms in the interest of mutual liberation. It persists even and especially toward beings who are the objects of contempt and condemnation from dominant value systems.
Most urgently, mad methodology primes us to extend radical compassion to the madpersons, queer personae, ghosts, freaks, weirdos, imaginary friends, disembodied voices, unvoiced bodies, and unReasonable others, who trespass, like stowaways or fugitives, in Reasonable modernity.

the rampant plagiarism and kicking down by making a living off of other queer creators’ work, and scamming people that wanted to see more queer content by asking for funding for short films that will never happen—all that is already offensive enough but somerton saying that only the “boring” gays survived the AIDS crisis on top of everything else was so disrespectful and so absolutely rancid I screamed. what an absolute shithead.

Could you please elaborate on the podcast stuff??? I know nothing about it
I don’t know anything about behind the scenes at all of course so I don’t have anything to elaborate but for those who know nothing/are confused by this ask
Like during the height of Covid watcher had a podcast called “here’s what you do” where you could ask Ryan Shane and Steven for advice and there was an episode where someone asked for advice on a homophobic (friend? Classmate? I don’t remember)
and Ryan and Katie (filling in for Shane to my recollection, though it could’ve been Shane and Katie filling in for Ryan) said to drop them/cut losses/etc
but Steven talked about how he is friends with homophobic people in his personal life
safe to say this was not well received by watcher fanbase and they did a short apology video afterwards where poor Katie looked like she was gonna sob from my recollection but after that the podcast was just. They just stopped it and never continued it again.

Atomos Connect Camera to Cloud Workflow Success Story - Videoguys
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the blog post “How GMedia tells great stories in no time with Camera to Cloud” by Atomos for Videomaker, the senior producer Joshua Cruse from GMedia shares insights into their video production workflow and how they efficiently tell compelling stories using a Camera to Cloud (C2C) approach. Here’s a summary:
Background:
Joshua Cruse, senior producer at GMedia, began his journey capturing musical performances with a passion for audio and video.
GMedia, the creative agency for Green Machine Ensembles at George Mason University, focuses on showcasing various musical performance groups.
Challenges Before C2C:
Traditional video production workflows led to exhaustion, with long hours waiting for media to off-load onto disks.
Upgrading to high-quality 4K video added to the production team’s burden, as the post-production workflow didn’t keep pace with camera advancements.
Transition to Camera to Cloud (C2C):
GMedia adopted the Camera to Cloud workflow using Atomos Connect module for Ninja and integrated it with the Frame.io creative collaboration platform.
The continuity of using Atomos devices from the late 2010s to the mid-2020s provides a sustainable and cost-effective practice.
C2C workflow proved to be a “magic link” for GMedia, offering cohesion, accessibility from anywhere, and significant time savings.
Benefits of C2C Workflow:
C2C workflow includes Atomos monitor-recorders with C2C connectivity and Frame.io for near-instant file uploads.
Editors can start crafting edits sooner, speeding up post-production, and proxy files stored in Frame.io are perfect for quick social media edits.
Josh emphasizes the importance of proper archiving without sacrificing recording quality for quicker turnarounds.
Real-Time Collaboration with C2C:
A specific example from April 2023 highlights the real-time collaboration aspect of C2C.
A remote producer, Tina, edited footage in real-time from home while Josh, on-site, confirmed shots using an airpod, showcasing the flexibility and efficiency of C2C.
Time-Saving and Future Plans:
Time is emphasized as a non-renewable resource, and the C2C workflow is designed to save time and make the team’s life easier.
Josh and the GMedia team see C2C as a long-term solution, committing to utilizing it as long as Frame.io and Atomos support it, highlighting its transformative impact on their workflow.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, GMedia’s adoption of Camera to Cloud with Atomos and Frame.io has not only saved time but has become an integral part of their efficient and innovative video production process, allowing them to tell compelling stories quickly and effectively.

going to be honest elon taking over twitter JUST as i finished my university course on national and international media policy is some unreal shit
#favourite course ive taken hands down got to talk to people in charge of broadcasting authority and the people who#made the acts that decide what is and is not appropriate to appear in film and or broadcast#we fucking!!! talked to the dude who was the chief censor until recently#hes the guy who. when the chch massacre happened had to be in charge of preparing the regulation that outlawed distribution or posession#of the livestream of the massacre#and detailed the nightmare process he and the rest of the people who do classification for video media in the country#they managed to get it out without loopholes two days after the massacre which lead to a buncha white supremacists#who distributed the material being done by the nz legal system#our lecturer also gave us insight into the christchurch call and the very very terrifying lack of international regulations around#social media and internet based media intermediaries#and what they complied with for fear of punishment vs what an actual policy with repercussions would look like#we also got to study the collapse of our shortlived public service broadcasting channels#and find the reason why they failed so severely (labour were spineless neolibs who made. the worst possible choice about how it was rub#and then when the nats came in they scrapped it because absolutely no right wing party in this country and many others#like free broadcast or free information paid by the state as it isnt profitable for them)#can you tell i kind of want to go into this sector of media#i want so badly to help critique research and make policies that will reduce extremism and misinformation on the internet#and have media conglomerates face repercussions instead of individuals who are given the chance to cause this harm#because those platforms let them do that and don't do anything about it

How to Choose the Right Qualitative Research Tools for Your Project
Tumblr media
When you're working on a project, understanding people's thoughts and feelings can be just as important as looking at numbers and facts. This is where qualitative research tools come in handy. They help you explore the 'why' and 'how' behind people's actions and decisions. But with so many tools out there, how do you choose the right ones for your project? Let's break it down.
What are Qualitative Research Tools?
Qualitative research tools are methods used to gather and analyze information that can't be measured with numbers. They help you understand people's experiences, opinions, and motivations. Some common tools include interviews, focus groups, observations, and content analysis.
Steps to Choose the Right Qualitative Research Tools
Define Your Research Goals: Before you start, know what you want to find out. Are you trying to understand customer behavior? Do you want to explore people's opinions on a social issue? Your goals will guide your choice of tools.
Consider Your Audience: Think about the people you want to study. Are they comfortable speaking in groups, or would they prefer one-on-one interviews? Are they active on social media? Choose tools that fit your audience's preferences and habits.
Evaluate the Depth of Information Needed: Some tools, like in-depth interviews, are great for exploring complex issues in detail. Others, like surveys with open-ended questions, are better for getting a broad overview. Decide how deep you need to go to meet your research goals.
TheLightBulb.ai Provides The Best Ai based Qualitative research Tools For Businesses.
Assess Your Resources: Qualitative research can be time-consuming and resource-intensive. Consider how much time, money, and manpower you have available. Some tools, like focus groups, might require more resources than others, like online forums.
Determine the Level of Flexibility Required: Some research questions evolve as you gather data. Tools like ethnographic observations are more flexible and can adapt to new insights. Others, like structured interviews, have a fixed format that might be less adaptable.
Think About Data Analysis: Different tools produce different types of data. Make sure you have the skills and tools needed to analyze the data you collect. For example, analyzing video recordings from observations might require different software than analyzing text from interviews.
Tips for Using Qualitative Research Tools Effectively
Combine Tools: Using a mix of qualitative research tools can give you a more complete picture. For example, you might start with focus groups to get a broad understanding, then use interviews to explore specific issues in more depth.
Pilot Test Your Tools: Before you start your main research, test your tools on a small scale. This can help you identify any issues and make adjustments before you invest more time and resources.
Be Prepared to Adapt: Qualitative research often uncovers unexpected insights. Be open to adjusting your tools and approach as you learn more.
Ensure Ethical Conduct: Always respect the privacy and confidentiality of your participants. Make sure they understand the research and give their informed consent.
Document Your Process: Keep detailed records of how you used your tools and made decisions. This can help you analyze your data and provide transparency for others reviewing your research.
Conclusion
Choosing the right qualitative research tools for your project is crucial for getting meaningful insights. By defining your research goals, considering your audience, evaluating the depth of information needed, assessing your resources, determining the level of flexibility required, and thinking about data analysis, you can select the tools that best fit your needs. Remember to use your tools effectively, be prepared to adapt, and always conduct your research ethically. With the right approach, qualitative research tools can help you uncover valuable insights that numbers alone can't provide.
