Dear Gus & Magnus,
I went to a strategic planning session this morning for the Little Rock School District, which I learned upon arrival would be led by my Leadership Greater Little Rock friend Reggie Ballard. He handled a hard job with grace and intelligence and it made me optimistic about keeping you two in public school. Mom and I want to keep you at LRSD because we believe in public education and we want you to be around kids from all different backgrounds, but we're not so idealistic that we will send you to a school based on principle, if there's a better option out there. Time will tell.
Also pictured, my other LGLR friend Jane.
Dad.

Dear Gus & Magnus,
I was supposed to be in New Orleans for a film shoot today, but Hurricane Ida kept that from happening -- significant portions of the city are still without power. The silver lining was that I got to make my Education Action Committee meeting. Now that Gus has entered into the Little Rock Public School System, I find that I'm even more invested in these meetings than I already was. This is a good group of people who are capable of making some good things happen that may directly affect you two.
Dad.

If you ever feel stupid, worry not! I was today years old almost thirty-one when I learned that Alucard is Dracula spelled backward. I literally heard the name, did not equate it to any other fictional vampires, and thought, “What a fucking dumb name, it’s up there with ‘Ballard’ and ‘Reginald.’” I’ve been sitting here stewing in my misery at being so stupid for an hour.
