The problem with it is that it’s not made out of clothing fabrics so it doesn’t fit very well and it turned out veryy revealing sadly. I made the halter neck too long. Oh well I’ve gotten a lot of experience from this and it’s a good first try for not having a pattern to follow. 🪡 🎀 🧵 🪡
(Also look at me doing the little coquette clothing haul scrunch on the sides of the top lmao😭)
During this project I’ve learned how to sew buttonholes!!!!!! lol I always misread that word. When you sew buttonholes you use a special presserfoot. The picture in the middle are practice buttonholes. 🪡💕
That’s all!!! I’m hoping to actually find some sewing patterns soon as this was a bit of a struggle but other than that I did alright!!!😊
For anyone who was interested in a more detailed view of that shirt dress (or the links to how I drafted it which are in the description on YouTube), it was in today's video. Did you know I post every Tuesday? I do. And sometimes I read books out loud on my channel. There's also a few other sewn projects in this update, so check it out if that's your jam.
Stick around to the end where I remind you of the important things in life.
So, I followed a kid doll pattern for Snufkin's backpack and didn't like it, so I'm making my own scaled down backpack. (Please note, this pattern is drawn out for a clean version! My original sketched out version has been cutout and used to the point it's now messy, so I thought this cleaner version would be helpful to others.)
Added the update for pull tab to pull close the bag opening- (I only had white straps for this, so I dyed them brown... They are still damp in the photo, which is why I hadn't sewn them to the bag yet.)
I'll add more photos as I get more done. But here's a preview of what I have so far. I used tacky glue to glue down the seams and to help keep things in place. And I'm sorry if it's a bit slow on updating, I'm sick again, so I'm just taking it easy. Hopefully, the pattern will work well and it'll be done tomorrow.
Small side note-
I'm also waiting for the fabric I dyed to air dry, so I can make the OB11 Snufkin's outfit and hat. (And Joxter's outfit) I'll post photos after I finish those as well.
Peeps, I just made a long jacket/dressing gown that just keeps on giving and I can't stop posing with it. I don't post pictures of myself but I think it is time to make a self portrait again, because aahdkdkdkd, it is so nice. I feel like I was possessed by Muumi Mamma and Stede Bonnet.
My first project using the projector for my pattern! The Made For Mermaids Betty sleep romper, in a rayon spandex jersey from Cali Fabrics (still in stock as of June 30, 2023) that's a dream to work with for the price. (The lace is deep stash.)
MYLLEEE How'd you learn to sew (and steal all my hobbies and do them better.)
Eeeerrrmmm… Well, you know, practice? Practice makes perfect?
But! I can give some recommendations!
Firstly! We have maqaroon! I used some of her plushie sewing vids to start out with. I’ll link one here:
youtube
(She also has some simple stitching videos.) To be honest, I would suggest starting with plushies (or pillows!) before sewing clothes. Clothes tend to require more complicated measurements and steps, and they just generally tend to be more finicky. *Please* watch video tutorials to help yourself when sewing clothes. Sometimes the process in which you sew pieces together is pretty backwards seeming, and watching in depth videos definitely helped me a lot. (Also I started by sewing doll clothes)

Okey, now that you somewhat know how to sew, you can look for new patterns and maybe even create your own patterns!
I’ll also link my Pinterest board for sewing clothes. (I can only share the overall board and not the specific sections, so I ask that you ignore the other sections. You only need to see the sewing clothes one. Also, on my same Pinterest account, I have a crafting board with some plushie sewing stuff, if you want to check that out too.)
Yay, now it’s just time to actually get good by spending time and effort to practice! *cries*
The apron that I made as a gift. I used the sewing machine at the library so I was not used to the machine. Issues with tread color and just generally getting the machine to do zigzag stitch. Over all an okay product, but not my best work. Also the shape is a bit off.
The top sewing project like the making the top is so cute & really impressive ! I wanna get into sewing as well to make my own accessories and clothes for dolls. I don't where to start tho. Well anyways that's all I wanted to say 🧘🏻♂️❤️
Aw thank you pretty!!!💕💕 I appreciate that sooo much🥹💘
Sewing is so fun and definitely rewarding!! Sewing doll clothes seems like such a fun idea!!
I’m definitely doing that for my kids when I grow up!! 🪡 📝 🧵 🪡
I started by watching a few tutorials and reading basics on how to use a sewing machine and then I started really simple with sewing scrunchies 🎀
Im making a new skirt to go with my peacock corset- the camera doesnt quite capture the fabric, its a blue/bronze colorshift that the camera is kind of equalizing to grey.
This pattern is basically THE steampunk dress pattern. I see it and slight variations of it everywhere. Probably because its great. Its easy to make, though the skirt is huge, and I need *9* of these pleat panels. Once again, I was short on fabric for the pleats, so Im going to have to piece a couple. I always forget this skirt needs 6yds, not 5.
I can't remember if I post these here sometimes or not. I feel like I should. April will start off with some book reviews of some queer books I've been reading. (Click for channel)
I'm sad I didn't get more 'done' this week. I had a migraine Saturday that rendered me incapacitated, so no writing and no sewing got finished. I've had some tea today, though, and toast, and I've started reading We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian, which I've really loved so far. So at least I'm ending the weekend on a high note.
