Sometimes it seems that I am at war with myself. There is a conflict within. What’s the outcome of that?
Tumblr media
Matthew 12:25
“Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart.”
While we must recognize the battle over sin that constantly goes on within us, we must be committed to standing against it. Failing to stand against sin in your own life pits self against self, which is doomed to destroy you. If you allow Satan to command a strategic area of your life, he will defeat you.
Galatians 5:17, 22
The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. . . . But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.
When you become a Christian, a new conflict will begin inside you that will be a life-long battle: what you want versus what God wants. Fortunately, you also have the Holy Spirit living in you, and when you allow him, he gives you the tools you need to fight your sinful nature. Over time, this conflict within yourself will lessen (though never go away) as peace, patience, gentleness, self-control and other characteristics of God start to overcome your sinful nature.

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:5‭-‬14‬ ‭(NLT‬‬). “I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News. For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News. And God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News. That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return. Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching you learned from me—a pattern shaped by the faith and love that you have in Christ Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.”
“The Treasure of Faith” By In Touch Ministries:
“Spiritual legacies begin with God’s faithful ones—will others learn of Christ through you?”
“Where does faith come from? It’s a gift of God, ultimately, but the Bible repeatedly points to the value of a faithful life. One example is the apostle Paul’s disciple, Timothy, whose mother and grandmother were strong role models of faith.
We know nothing of Lois or Eunice beyond the mention of them in 2 Timothy 1:5. They are probably the reason the young minister had known “the sacred writings” of Scripture all his life—from these devout women, in other words, he had received “the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).
But what about those of us without a legacy like Timothy’s? Paul spoke to that as well, saying that God “saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace” (1:9).
Like Timothy, those of us with godly parents enjoy the fruit of their faithfulness. But if you’re the first believer in your family, then you’re creating the legacy of faithfulness for future generations. That’s what Paul charges Timothy to protect and “entrust … to faithful people” (2 Timothy 2:2). And it’s our charge, too. If we guard and pass down this treasure, our loved ones will, by God’s grace, continue the tradition of faith.”

Finding Strength and Hope in Times of Trials: Trusting God's Plan for Your Life
Life is a journey filled with unexpected twists and turns, where trials and challenges often await us. In the midst of these difficult seasons, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed, discouraged, and lost. However, as Christian women, we have a powerful source of strength and hope: our unwavering trust in God's plan for our lives. In this blog post, we will explore how we can find the strength and hope we need to navigate through trials by placing our trust in the loving hands of our Heavenly Father.
🌸 Embracing God's Sovereignty 🌸
At the core of trusting God's plan is recognizing His sovereignty over all things. Even when trials seem insurmountable and circumstances appear bleak, we can find solace in knowing that God is in control. Reflect on passages like Romans 8:28, which assures us that "God works all things together for the good of those who love Him." By embracing His sovereignty, we can rest assured that He has a purpose in our trials, even if we can't comprehend it at the moment.
🌸 Anchoring in God's Promises 🌸
Throughout Scripture, we find a treasure trove of promises that provide us with strength and hope during difficult times. Promises like Isaiah 41:10, where God says, "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." By immersing ourselves in God's Word, we can cling to these promises and find comfort in His unwavering faithfulness.
🌸 Cultivating Unwavering Faith 🌸
Trials can test the foundation of our faith, but it is during these times that our trust in God's plan truly shines. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that "faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." By nurturing our faith through prayer, reading Scripture, and seeking the counsel of fellow believers, we can strengthen our confidence in God's plan, even when it feels challenging to do so.
🌸 Drawing Inspiration from Biblical Figures 🌸
The Bible is filled with stories of men and women who faced trials and emerged stronger in their faith. Reflecting on the experiences of figures like Joseph, Esther, and Paul can inspire and encourage us. Consider Joseph's journey from slavery to leadership, Esther's courage in the face of potential death, or Paul's perseverance through countless trials. These stories remind us that God is faithful to His promises and can work wonders in the midst of our own trials.
🌸 Finding Purpose in Pain 🌸
While trials may seem senseless and painful, God has a remarkable way of using them to shape us, refine our character, and fulfill His purposes in our lives. As difficult as it may be, let us seek to find meaning in our pain by trusting that God is working for our good and His glory. Through our trials, we can experience personal growth, develop empathy, and become vessels of His love and grace.
🌸 Resting in God's Presence and Community 🌸
During times of trial, we don't have to face them alone. God's presence is a wellspring of strength and peace, available to us through prayer, worship, and quiet reflection. Additionally, seeking support from our Christian community can provide the comfort and encouragement we need to press on. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can walk alongside you, pray for you, and offer wise counsel.
Conclusion
Trusting God's plan for our lives is not always easy, especially when we are faced with trials and uncertainties. Yet, as Christian women, we can find unwavering strength and hope by placing our trust in our loving Heavenly Father. Embrace His sovereignty, anchor yourself in His promises, cultivate unwavering faith, draw inspiration from biblical figures, find purpose in your pain, and rest in His presence and community. As you journey through trials, remember that God's plan is perfect, and He will guide you through every step, leading you to a place of strength, hope, and ultimate victory.

Whenever we eat a huge meal, our bodies are stuffed and we feel like we couldn’t eat ever again. However, that time will come when we need to eat again. Now, let’s picture our choices as food. When we sin, we choose to do that because it is enticing and we think it will fulfill us. Whether it be swearing, drinking to get drunk, fornication, or whatever it may be, sin is the food that leaves us wanting more, always searching for something that truly fills us. There is something out there though that can fill us up, more like Someone: Jesus Christ. When we choose to live for Christ and live righteously, we are eating food that fully satisfies our souls. In John 6, we are told that Christ is the bread of life.
“35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
“47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. 48 I am that bread of life.”
“51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
“53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Jesus Christ is what we need in our lives to be fulfilled and saved. He is the food we can eat and never hunger again because He is the only One that can fill us up. Christ is the living bread, the food that will help us live forever in heaven. Jesus is what will satisfy us, not the sinful nature of this world. And when Jesus died, He gave up His flesh and blood for us to have eternal life. To honor His death, we partake of bread and juice every Sunday that represents His flesh and blood. When we do this, our souls are fulfilled and we are promised eternal life by our Savior. So what food will you eat? The sinful world, or the Living Bread?

But isn’t my body my own? Don’t I have the final say in what I do with my body? Let's take a look shall we...
Tumblr media
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
You don’t own your body—God does. He designed it and entrusted it to you even as you were conceived into a sinful world that affected your body in many ways. The outlook for your body changed considerably when you responded to the message that Jesus died for you. God paid for you at a premium price with the death of his own Son, and now he fills your body with his Spirit. Honor his sacrifice with one of your own: Respect the awesomeness of your body by keeping it pure.
1 Corinthians 6:12-13
You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. You say, “Food was made for the stomach, and the stomach for food.” (This is true, though someday God will do away with both of them.) But you can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.
False worldviews in biblical times included perspectives that devalued the body as evil and irredeemable. People who believed this often treated their bodies with disrespect and subjected them to debauchery, arguing that it didn’t matter what they did with their bodies. In today’s world of scientific materialism, which discounts God’s involvement in the world and places our bodies at our disposal, the same outcomes often follow. Once God enters the picture, however, we realize that we are accountable for how we treat everything in the created order, including our own bodies. We must take God’s standards and instructions to heart.

As we prepare for the coming of the Spirit at Pentecost and prepare for the renewal of our own mission to the world, we begin [to ready our hearts] with a firm demand for faith in Jesus, which is the same as belief in the Father. Faith is not just an intellectual assent but includes trust, a confidence that we can leave everything in the hands of Jesus.
