#THEY WERE SAVED BY A MIRACLE
I think O Brother Where Art Thou is about humility and realising that there are greater forces at work than you, and the only thing you can do is let them work though you and believe it'll work out and how your story seems pretty small but it's actually one of the biggest and oldest out there if you accept your part in it but I also genuinely think that the guy with the sunglasses was literally the devil himself so I may be wrong who knows

ok i will preface this by saying i have JUST recently discovered the ripverse (i am kicking my legs giggling twirling a phone cord reading all the asks and like. supplementals you’ve posted/people have sent in though have NO fear) but something about how rip!mc was supposed to die at 16 but was saved by love really stuck with me. and i think this is kinda similar to what the other anon said (hi) but i also never felt like i was meant to live long like not even through anything tragic just like. i could not picture a future for myself! and high school was desolate enough as is but no one i knew there could picture me having a future either which did not help things. so i kinda drifted through just in the back of my head knowing i was gonna be gone soon and being okay with that. and then i went to college and i met my friends and my ex and i’ve never mentioned it to them and idk if i will bc the feeling isn’t completely gone but just through existing in my life they did kinda save me. or at least made me consider myself as a permanent living thing and that life wasn’t just something happening to me but was my actually life. and idk if this makes sense but i love the idea of being saved by love and how people really can have such a positive impact sometimes without even knowing it. like what is the point to anything if not to love and be loved. and i think being saved by it kinda exemplifies that perfectly. anyway thank you for writing the ripverse and through that giving me a reason to ramble about love <3
me sobbing and blowing my nose into a tissue: i-it's about l-l-l-love.....

i usually just post about reassassination and ultimate excalibur alongside less developed stories/universes but brother i have a LOT of stuff that i either hardly talk about or never talk about at all publicly ,,, mostly because they don't have any character designs done yet 💀
#like let me dump a few of the ideas that will probably never actually become real here:#1. story about two vampire hunter girls and one goes missing and the other has to go find her and fights various vampires along the way#(i actually did finish a few designs for this but scrapped it and now a lot of the plot aspects are in reassassination#such as a coven of 7 vampires based on the deadly sins - now the 7 assassins of the clear crucifix organisation in RAA)#2. darkstalkers-ish fighting game that i was really convinced i could make once i learned how to code -#- where the guardians of love and heartbreak fight to prove which love is real#there were multiple characters planned - puppy love which was like a cute girl with a big ass scary fuckin hellhound#sweetheart love who was a chocolate themed magical girl (her gimmick being that she could transform and her fighting style would change)#fake love who was like a scam love doctor old lady called dr.diva#pure lust who was a super tall vampire guy etc etc the list goes on#i kinda want to go through with that one. one problem! i cannot code fighting games#and the one that was pretty well developed - metallic miracle which had a pretty complicated story#basically the world is being attacked by alien creatures that can only be killed by children (never decided why tho)#so the fucked up government takes a bunch of 5-8 year olds and put them into comas and then turns them into cyborgs#to go on suicide missions to kill these aliens. mira's mother is the scientist who created the technology that can send them into comas#and keep their bodies moving n shit and she takes mira onto a different planet to try and save her but theyre found after a while#mira's mother is killed and mira is drafted in the kids v aliens war BUT she is immune to the coma technology#she fights fully aware of what is going on for around a year? and eventually the aliens are driven out and mira is super traumatised#and is one of the only survivors of this 'greater good project' - so they put her in a coma that actually works this time#and send her in a space capsule for years to give her some peace (didnt develop why shes in the space capsule)#anyway 50 years later mira is woken up and taken back to her home planet to help these other guys against smaller-scale threats#and the whole thing is about mira recovering from what happened to her learning to trust others and stuff#looking back the story is kinda edgy n doesnt really make sense and stuff but i think it could be interesting idk#is this oc rambling if its only in the tags?#whatever#oc rambling

man jc antis really are something else
like imagine a 16yo telling you “my dad doesn’t like me” and your response for some reason is “well maybe he’d like you if you weren’t such an awful person”
#mdzs talk#moi#salt is salt#literally just saw a post where someone was trying to argue#no jfm doesn’t dislike jc and favor wwx#jc is just a hateful and jealous person#but if jfm DID dislike jc it would be jc’s own fault for always being rude and never listening to his father#like what the FUCK#where’s that tweet about ‘what if the kids vibes were bad’#the fact that they expect jc to have like. compete and total omniscience.#they’re also really fixated on saying he did things for reasons they make up#like there might be a smidgen of basis but there’s also a much more likely and reasonable explanation#like ‘jc HUNTED DOWN and TORTURED people who reminded him of wwx!’#or…he hunted down people using demonic cultivation (most likely to hurt people bc how would he know about them otherwise)#or people using the image of the Yiling Patriarch (the one who razes fields and eats babies bc that became the Public Image)#and we’re using that image to inspire fear or to scam or hurt people#bc again: if word of a demonic cultivator or yllz impersonator manages to get to jc?#it’s probably not because they’re saving puppies or performing miracles!#to most common folk: demonic cultivation is any cultivation scary or causing harm. they don’t know the specifics!#but they’re the ones passing these rumors#if a cultivator comes through & is helpful: that’s normal cultivator activity! they wouldn’t know if they were using demonic cultivation!#if a cultivator comes through and does something scary and people get hurt—they’re gonna call it demonic cultivation.#someone doing spooky shit that isn’t even cultivation at all? Demonic Cultivation.#i get that antis have terminal protagonism but like. are they actually under the impression that regular people are fine with necromancy?#like you can try to argue that jc was doing it out of personal spite#but in all likelihood: any time the names ‘demonic cultivation’ or ‘wwx’ came up#the situation was probably already bad!#‘well they were probably innocent/harmless!’ THEN WHY WERE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THEM?#PEOPLE DONT GOSSIP ABOUT HOW NICE SOMEONE IS OR HOW ORDINARY THEY ARE#anyway this has been: a rant

watching Nishitani's death scene always leaves me devastated. like noooo king you can't die you haven't gotten your rocks off in a decent fight yet
#jokes aside the first time i saw that scene I wasn't ready for it. he's such an earnest guy who embodies this wild persona fully ->#and when the audience may believe he'll go wild again or pull some shit to save himself what does he do?#he tries to run for his uncle and shields Majima from the bullets.#he didn't have to give up his life but he saw something in Majima that he wanted to protect. a reflection maybe.#that line he says about “why couldn't we have met earlier” and chiding himself for being sentimental... goddd i need more of him#it makes me wonder specifically what he would think of the Mad Dog persona.#would he be proud that Majima took after him? glad to have someone that understands?#or perhaps downtrodden that Majima could follow his direct footsteps into an early grave himself?#i mean we've seen Majima throw himself into situations where he could die any minute. its not wrong to say its a miracle he's gonna see 60#but is that also something he learned from Nishitani? that he can sacrifice himself if it means the ones he loves will thrive?#ughhhh mr nishitani i miss your silly ass... literally altered Majima's brain chemistry that day in the jail cell....#also not to be too theorist or anything but like. i wonder if anyone tried to get Nishitani help or if they let him die.#bc his men were in the (unlocked) cell with him; one of them could have run for help or a medic even if it was too late#but would he want that? or would he have wanted to be left in peace with his only family member- dead by association with him?#grrrr i need more info on him..... but at the same time i love that they left him fairly vague...#we get just the hint of his attitude being a persona and thats it.... GOD i need to rip something up im consumed with blorbo thoughts#nishitani homare#bulletin board

So I somehow got my preordered svss4 special edition??? I never cancelled my order on book depository and they never cancelled it either and I randomly got an email this week saying it was dispatched and got it today and it’s really the special edition with the extra goodies???
So if you preordered the special edition from book depository and you didn’t cancel it/didn’t have it cancelled you might still randomly get it??? Don’t cancel it is my only advice and same for future special editions I guess? (mdzs I’m looking at you 👀) the universe might bless you with a magical special edition in your mailbox 🤣 (if it’s useful to anyone in a similar situation I preordered in September from France)

Aight so, currently working on a Lifeweaver fic, for those who remember my ancient comment of me planning on using this Khmer Oc in a setting with Niran, it's related to that, and part of that fic is basically an exploration into both character's families. Meaning, I had to headcanon out Niran's, and oh my fricking lord- Here's what I got so far since I find that it's not only something that'd be pretty interesting. Mr. Pruksamansee Meticulously neat and perfectionistic in how he dresses and carries himself and is someone who continuously demands control over the situation, even his children's lives. He comes off as a sincere father who has warm moments at times and only wants them to have and ONLY have the best of the best and was under the thing of everything he does is because it's what's best for them. Even if "they don't like it now"., But is predominantly overly strict to the point of bordering on coming off as cold. Especially because he loathes losing control over almost everything, it's something he carries over from both his work and upbringing into his own parenting because not only was he raised in a strict environment reminiscent of the one he cultivates in the home. Is also typically highly revered, especially since outside the home/in public he's a highly charismatic figure, he can be charming when he wants to be. He was practically trained to use charisma as an on/off switch, because of the familial belief that intelligence, especially a top quality education, and diligence helps, but it isn't enough to make it on its own. That in order to make literally any profound impact on the world, you have to have influence. But also comes off as highly out of touch with those outside his class range to the point of being unintentionally kind of insulting/arrogant about it. Not necessarily out of any malice whatsoever, but more so in the sense that he just doesn't know any better because he was born into the sheltered, out of touch life of generational wealth. In short he is, basically one of those ignorant old money people who has never had a single normal conversation with a minimum wage worker in his entire life. Also. He royally screwed up his son to the point that Niran doesn't want to talk to him specifically. Because of Niran being a perpetual spanner in his works since birth and him having overly high expecations for Niran on a consistent basis, especially out of Niran being the eldest son. Mrs.Pruksamanee
Elegant in a overly clean, almost air polished sense with a indirectly documented tendency to be a overly perfectionistic germaphobe. Especially since she comes from a background of being this beautiful highly sought after socialite turned reverred matriarch. While the kinder of Niran’s parents, she’s detached and highly out of touch with her son and his interests. Instead expecting him to fit into the slot of the “perfect son”. Something which also stems from the fact that she was never really involved at all in the "messier" parts of child rearing and only really took up rearing Niran and his siblings in regards to their etiquette and education because the former was always handled by nannies and household staff. Considering like Mr.Pruksamanee, she's a product of her upbringing, that was how she was raised. As such, she doesn't even really know her own son as a person, in addition to as such, treating him as somewhat of an extension of her and his father. As such often was overly fussy and somewhat naggy with him, especially when he didn't fall in line with how he was expected to act. Niran was always cagey with being open about anything personal with her, because he always expected she'd nag him over it by default, in addition to Niran not knowing his mom all that well as a person either to confide in her all that much. She is more open to expressing emotion, but only in a highly curated way that is societally acceptable and worthy of reverence. One open genuine emotion that's a highly complicated one for her overall is parental affection because while she genuinely loves her children, she has no idea how to show it "appropriately" without "coddling" them past a certain age, and as such has reached the point of compensating for such by showing affection via splurging on them and overall spoiling them. Especially since she herself is highly extravagent with money. Overall, highly dictated by what is and what is not acceptable among the higher classes of society and is also overly strict on her children and what she considers to be the best for them in that regard. She wants them to be a good example for the world around them. Which- Niran eventually proceeded to screw up in her eyes by becoming a fugitive. She's more lenient/sympathetic to those below their family's station, but similarly to Mr.Pruksamanee is HIGHLY ignorant towards them and their way of life, especially their struggles and means of going about things. She finds them kind of odd. But at least was ALWAYS the one to hammer into the children and even her husband at times to treat the staff with respect nonetheless as the main one in charge of them, and always generally made sure they were well cared for. Also took on Mr.Pruksamanee's penchant for wanting everything to be under control, hence why she acts as his primary mediator, especially in the home. ALSO royally fucked up her kid, but not to the same extent as Mr.Pruksamanee. At least he still talks to her on occasion when she reaches out to him to check if he's okay and/or provide Niran financial aid. Even when it's just to let her know that he's perfectly fine and that no, he isn't in fact, dead or dying.

After watching Cinderella (the original animated movie, which was my favorite as a child), it strikes me how it solves many common problems people have with this fairy tale. Like:
Why did they try to identify the mystery girl using her shoe size? Because the bullheaded king's only clue to her identity was the shoe the Grand Duke picked up off the steps.
Why didn't the prince recognize her by her face? Because his father wouldn't involve him in the process at all, and wasn't the one going around trying to find her.
Why did the prince want to marry a lady he only met that night? Because his father was going to force him to marry someone, and he genuinely liked this woman.
Why did Cinderella want to marry a man she only met that night? Because marriage was her best and most secure way to freedom. Fucked up, but you can't say it's unrealistic for the setting of a fairy tale. She also genuinely liked him.
If they're using the slipper to find her, wouldn't it be more sensible to search for the person with the other slipper? Yes. The King is purposefully nonsensical and the Duke is purposefully terrified enough of him to carry out his orders to the letter. Furthermore, they end up doing that in the end anyway, because the Duke's glass slipper is shattered, and Cinderella brings out the one she has to prove her identity.
Why didn't the stepmother and stepsisters recognize Cinderella at the ball? Because they were dancing too far away, and then left the party to dance in private, which was possible because the King wanted very badly for his son to hit it off with someone and tried to arrange the best conditions for that to happen.
Why didn't Cinderella save herself? Because in real life, abuse victims should not have to shoulder that responsibility, and usually can't. In real life, you need and deserve an external support system. Asking for help, in this kind of situation, is very important. She is saved by others because she is loved. Because she is not alone. Because she has friends who love her, and want her to be happy and safe and free. Because in real life, people who want to help someone who is suffering are like the mice. We can't pull out miracle solutions, but we can provide companionship and if we're in the right place at the right time, we can help the person find a better life.
Why didn't the fairy godmother save Cinderella from her abusive household, or try to help her sooner? Because she's magic, and magic can't solve your problems. Quote: "Like all dreams, well, I'm afraid it can't last forever." This (and Cinderella's dream of going to the ball) is a metaphor for pleasurable things in bad circumstances. An ice cream won't get rid of your depression, but it will provide you with momentary happiness to bolster you, as well as the reminder that happiness in general is still possible for you. Cinderella doesn't want to go to the ball so she can get away from her stepmother and stepsisters, or so she can meet someone to marry and leave with. She wants to go to the ball to remind herself that she can still have things she wants. That her desires matter. This is important because the movie does a very good job of illustrating Lady Tremaine's subtle abuse tactics, all of which invisibly press the message that Cinderella doesn't matter. While going to the ball and fulfilling her dreams may not be a victory in the material sense, it is still a victory against Lady Tremaine's efforts.
Why is Cinderella's choice to be kind and obedient framed as a good thing, when you are not obligated to be kind to your abuser? This one walks a very fine line, but I think the movie still makes it make sense. Lady Tremaine never acknowledges her cruelty. She always frames her punishments of Cinderella as Cinderella's fault. Cinderella is interrupting, Cinderella is shirking her duties, Cinderella is playing vicious practical jokes. Cinderella is still a member of the family, of course she can go to the ball, provided she meet these impossible conditions. Lady Tremaine's tactics are designed to make Cinderella feel like she must always be in the wrong and her stepmother must always be in the right. If Cinderella calls her stepmother out on her cruelty, or attempts to fight back, Lady Tremaine can frame that as Cinderella being ungrateful, cruel, broken, evil, etc. If Cinderella responds to her stepmother's cruelty defiantly (in the way she's justified to), she's not taking control out of Lady Tremaine's hands. Disobedience can be spun back into her stepmother's control. She wants Cinderella to be angry and sad and show how much she's hurting. So since Cinderella is adapting to her situation, she chooses to be kind. Not only because she naturally wants to be and it's part of her personality, but because it is a form of defiance in its own way, and it allows her to keep a reminder of her agency and value. Her choice to be kind is her chance to keep her own narrative alive: she is not obeying because her stepmother wants her to and she has to do what her stepmother does, but because she wants to. It's a small distinction, but one that makes all the difference in terms of keeping her hope and identity. (Fuck, I wrote a whole paragraph about how this doesn't mean you can't be angry at people who hurt you or that you need to be kind to deserve help, and then deleted it by accident. Uh. Try again.) Expressing anger and pain is an important part of regaining autonomy and healing. Although it is commendable to be kind while you are suffering, it is NOT required for you to get help or be worthy of help. If Cinderella's recovery was explored beyond "happily ever after" she would need to let herself be angry and sad to heal. Cinderella is not only kind because it comes naturally to her, but because it's her defense against the abuse she's suffering. Everyone's story and experiences are different, and one does not invalidate the other.
Bonus round for answers that aren't part of the movie:
Why didn't Cinderella run away? Where would she go? Genuinely, in hundreds-of-years-ago France, where would she go if she snuck out of the window with a change of clothes? With her step-family, she's miserable and abused, but she's fed, clothed, and in no danger of dying or being taken advantage of by anyone other than her stepmother and stepsisters. Even if she escapes and manages to find financial security, her stepmother might be able to find her and get her back.
Why didn't Cinderella burn the house down with them inside it/slit their throats in the night/poison their food/etc.? Because that's a revenge fantasy, and this story is a fantasy about being saved. There's nothing wrong with making Cinderella into a revenge fantasy. That's perfectly fine, as long as you acknowledge that the other type of fantasy is also a valid interpretation. (I mean, the original fairy tale features the stepsisters getting their feet mutilated and all three of them getting their eyes pecked out, so go for it.)
Why isn't Cinderella more proactive in general? Because she's a child who has been abused for the back half of her life, who has had to be focused on survival because. you know. she's an abused kid.
How did she dance in glass slippers? Gotta agree with you there man, that's weird.

Circling back a bit to the post I made about what Vee would do for their boys. Specifically, the little note I made about journal entries and the like. Forgive me for coming back to it; it's a topic that interests me.
-
Vee has kept a journal almost since they could write and have been fairly consistent about keeping it updated. They initially wrote a lot about their personal feelings towards their father but it soon changed tone and meaning; detailing every sick experiment the man did to them in a vain attempt to challenge the Gods.
They used sharp, short sentences and described things in a serious scientific manner. It is more akin to reading a scientific journal or a news story than a child/teenager's personal journal.
As they got older, the journal turned more into a place to expend their thoughts and worries about their business or patients than something for themself. They did occasionally mention personal problems but kept the whole thing surprisingly professional.
-
That is, however, until more recently. The journal is once again being used to document their health but this time it is more about how their health is failing them.
They talk in-depth about how worried they are that their death would affect the patients they care for regularly; noting that they'll have to consider transferring patients to other healers in the event their health gets too poor for them to work.
-
The final page of their journal- way in the back- is addressed directly to the boys they love like their own. It holds an apology and a reassurance that the boys are not to blame for their death. They knew it was coming and they had long since accepted it; knowing that it was the price for keeping them all safe.
Enclosed in the final pages of the journal is their will and a singular pressed purple wyvern tail; almost perfectly preserved in the pages. A final, sombre farewell to the people they loved the most in the world.
