It really is amazing that Leuvis can return so late in the series and is capable of changing the story so drastically for the benefit of the entire demon society. We know quite well how physically strong he is from the GP battle, but seeing him use his royal power to greatly influence all the citizens and noble houses is just as impressive.
Of course one of the best decisions he decides upon is the elimination of the farm system, saying that the demons were acting all sneaky as they still chose to eat humans despite the old promise stating that humans and demons wouldn't hunt each other anymore. They took advantage of the farms and eventually that system took control of how they all survived by deciding who receives the best meat based on status.
For a few moments, the citizens begin to realize that the farms created more harm than good, until some freak out over the thought of losing their precious meat.
Then it starts this whole inner turmoil between them and it's kinda funny to see the citizens go back and forth with the idea of dismantling the farms. They want good food but not at the price of being controlled by the nobility and royals again.
Thankfully it only takes a few more words from Leuvis for the demons to agree to get rid of the farms. He makes leading look so simple.
Not gonna lie, I kinda would've loved to see Leuvis as king. I know he feels guilty for ignoring all the issues the old demon government created, but imagining this once psychotic poacher now being expected to act all regal and proper is amusing to me.
It's hilarious that his second core was a surprise to even himself. Had he known about it, I bet he would've fought so much more recklessly during his time at Goldy Pond. I do like that he still accepted his defeat, regardless of being revived. It would've been quite the sight had he sought out Emma & the others any time after the battle to get some revenge instead. I can't blame Leuvis for not wanting to become king because if I just came back to life and resorted to a quiet life, I wouldn't want all the responsibility and drama that comes with leadership either.
Offering the position to Mujika certainly was the next best idea and it's kinda sweet how quickly all the citizens agree to support her.
Yeaaah elder! Let them know they should all feel just as guilty for standing by!
I'm so sad everything up to Mujika being crowned was effectively cut out of the anime. The world literally changed so much in just this one chapter and anime-onlys have no idea since these panels were shoved into that stupid ending slideshow the second season had.
I know the farms being eliminated and Mujika becoming the new queen are very important details the kids should absolutely focus on, but I kinda wish Emma, Ray or one of the GP kids reacted to Leuvis still being alive.
I still find it so insanely adorable that Isabella still thinks of Leslie after all this time.
The reunion we've all waited for so long! And had to wait even longer when this chapter first released since we didn't get ch176 until almost a month later.
Favorite panel/moment:
Seeing everyone celebrate their freedom due to the downfall of the farms is by far one of the best double spread pages of the whole series.
i was rereading some parts of tpn manga and i couldn't help tear up at this in chapter 175
aside from the children, look how happy and relief isabella and the sisters are. I remember it was stated that scarlet had to closed off her emotions but now LOOK AT HER! crying tears of joy! jumping for joy just like everyone! LOOK AT MATILDA! SHE IS SO CUTE! i bet she has been praying for this moment to come. LOOK AT ISABELLA! although her reaction is a bit reserved, you can still tell she is very happy......if only she........ * cries in manga *
this scene just made me tear up a bit.....it also made me cry because i already know whats gonna happen next.
Everyone, it is with a joyful heart that I can finally make this post.
Chapter 100: aka the last appearance Phil made in the manga.
Until now.
Tomorrow, Chapter 175 will release, marking Phil’s long-awaited return!
The 100th chapter of The Promised Neverland was officially released on August 23rd, 2018. It was 175 days after this that I decided to make this sideblog, originally intended as a joke but also to spread the love for Phil.
Since then, you’ve all shown incredible amounts of love for this blog! And I want to express how grateful I am that we could all wait together for the 422 days since I began this countdown!
Now, for the numbers:
Although spoilers have been leaked, tomorrow marks the official release of Chapter 175 on April 11th, 2020.
Phil’s hiatus in chapters: 75 chapters
Phil’s hiatus in terms of real-time: 1 year, 7 months, 19 days (or 19 months, 19 days)
That being said, it’s incredible to see how Shirai has woven the story’s plot together over these past 75 chapters, and I’m sure we’re all looking forward to seeing where things will go from here on out. Phil’s re-appearance was worth the wait, and I’m sure that his reunion scene will be perfectly beautiful~ After all of the hardships he and Emma have endured, it’ll be so emotionally gripping to see him reunite with the other Gracefield children!
I’ll still keep this blog active to post about Phil (which I’ve been more active on than my main TPN account), for anyone who is still seeking Phil content. The final countdown post has been made-- Which after almost two years, feels so strange yet relieving to say.
Conclusion: Phil is safe and alive, and here’s to hoping the manga will end that way!
Oh boy, this week’s chapter was short but ended in the best way imaginable, I’m excited just thinking about it!
As we see from the cover, Leuvis surprises everyone by saying that all farms are to be abolished. I was very shocked as well, it was this easy? I still can’t buy the story that he showed up out of nowhere and just saved the day.
Then we see Leuvis having his inner monologue. The only reason that he survived was because that he had two cores, much like Legravalima. Maybe his ideology changed when he had a near death experience? I find it hard to believe, but the fact that he didn’t know about his two cores is quite interesting.
And then something even weirder happens - Leuvis appoints Mujika as the next ruler of the demon world? Huh? I didn’t screenshot the pages of the demons being conflicted about Leuvis’ choices, but they do contemplate it for one page then change their opinions. Just how did the demons change their minds so quickly?
Then the Elder comes back as if nothing happened and he wasn’t in danger when Sonju and Mujika were arrested. I may sound pessimistic about everything working out so well, but isn’t this too abrupt? I’m highly suspicious that there is something else behind this and things aren’t what they seem, because if this is actually how it ends then I won’t be very happy.
Even having said all that, I still love this page of Mujika being crowned in front of the demons as their new queen. I love the crown made of leaves, it looks very nice.
We go back to Grace Field for a moment to celebrate their freedom with all the kids. it was impossible to not smile with them, it’s truly a remarkable moment in their history and I’m cheering with the kids right now!
This next page is going to make you cry, or at least emotional. Phil, our lord and savior, the best boy of the whole series, has finally reunited with Emma. It’s been so long and we were all so worried about his safety, but here he is, healthy and unharmed. We’ve waited so long and now he’s finally back! Or rather, we’re finally back to meet up with Phil.
I found this chapter to be very weird and I don’t trust it, but the last few pages and most of all, Phil (!!!) made it worth it. It’s enough to keep me thinking about it for the next two weeks.
Reminder that there’s no new chapter for two weeks!
No longer is she going to be pursued, to be hunted, to be threatened!!
Originally she left Isabella to get Phil because she thought she had to deal with the demon army, BUT the whole thing got resolved by Leuvis and Mujika!
AND SHE MADE A RUN FOR IT AND WENT TO GET HIM HERSELF!!!!!
I can't help but feel like this chapter is too good to be true? We've seen the children work hard for most of the good things they now have. It seems suspicious that Leuvis would come back and give them everything they want on a golden platter.
Leuvis doesn't seem like the type of character to give up or change his ideals so easily. Yes, he was killed, but he was well aware that was a risk he was taking; he wanted to be challenged seriously. His death in battle was in line with the strong ideals he had, so why would he be so moved?
I guess I could see Leuvis having a newfound respect for humans after being bested by Emma and the others. At no point in the Goldy Pond battle did he really feel his life was threatened, up until the very end. But how does that transform into remorse for his prior actions aiding and abetting the corrupt ruling class? How does that explain his desire to genuinely help the demon masses?
If Leuvis does follow through with his plan to abolish all farms and stop the eating of human meat, Emma won't need to fulfill her promise to "Him," which is still on standby. And I feel that her discussion with "Him" is going to be significant to the plot and to her fate. The importance of the price she would have to pay to make a new promise, how it must be something valuable to her and that she cannot refuse, has been emphasized numerous times.
I can't help but get Avatar vibes from this, at least towards the part when Jake recalls what Neytiri once told him about how "all energy is only borrowed and one day you have to give it back." It's a nice mindset and this scene would be very pleasant if there wasn't a human dying on the ground. Imagine trying to learn from your teacher and you just hear your kill whimpering and coughing as it struggles to stay alive as background noise. Kinda brings down the mood of this serene forest.
Sonju is the king they all deserve, even though I can't really see him take on such a role.
Hilarious that Norman says he can't carry Zazie when we see Ray do so by himself later in ch160. All those Lambda experiments made boss look like an adult but he remains physically the weakest outta the trio.
Well y'all are in for quite a surprise once ch171 & 175 roll around; not regarding Sonju of course but a certain someone else.
Yo, could you imagine how insane Leuvis could've been if we got the chance to see him in action with his second core? That would be amazing. And please, someone let Sonju know that his brother's first core was also destroyed by a human. I wanna see the shock on his face.
The adhesives were a good idea to slow down Legravalima at first, but now it of course becomes a hassle for Sonju to deal with. Talk about becoming what you eat.
She can be a limbo champion with the way her back bends.
Mujika, honey, what kind of inner strength do you have that you don't even flinch when something as terrifying as this is just seconds away from ending your life?
Favorite panel/moment:
Mhhhmm I just really like this panel of Sonju.
Apologies to him though because I will always find Legs returning his spear by piercing his arm funny.
I hate to be that person, but... surely it won’t be that easy. There’s some catch here. Perhaps the demons want to kill all the humans ‘cause they fear revenge or they want to do it in order to keep the farms from getting recreated.
