“"Speaking of Gorilla, you probably heard that he was finally named in the "miraculous secrets” card game, and his name is “Placide I.T.” What do you think of that name?
Is that like a pun in French or something?“”
Yup, Frenchie here, the pronounciation of the whole name makes a (very, very poor’s man) Bart-Simspon-esque homophone of ‘placidité’ (English equivalent 'placidity’, and it sounds like English would have a similar homophone but for the way 'I’ alone is pronunced in this language).
As you can see, only the greatest and most original dep- heights of humor for this show… Could have been better staying nameless honestly.
Writing Prompt: The One Responsible Adult in the House
It's "Career Day" at Dupont, and the students must bring at least one parent or guardian to talk about their jobs.
The class is excited. Marinette's mother comes bearing desserts, Marinette's father staying to man the bakery. Alya's mother arrives alongside Mayor Bourgeoise, allowed a bit of time off to appear for promotional purposes. Mr. Kubdel arrives to talk about the Louvre, and Mrs. Kante talks about her astronaut training, and Mr. Haprele of his acting.
Adrien had begged for his father to come. He was hopeful that Gabriel would arrive for once to one of his school events, but is incredibly disappointed when Gorilla appears in the limo, sans his father. The poor boy is close to tears, but Gorilla gently places a hand on his shoulder and crouches down, nodding at him.
Adrien realizes then that his bodyguard came to Career Day for him, so that he wouldn't be alone. He hugs the man, a few tears slipping out, whispering "thank you".
What if the Gorilla only speaks in grunts because he's American like Colt and never learned to speak French. Sure, by now he can understand it okay, but he can have a little plausible deniability of misunderstanding an order whenever Adrien pulls out the pleading kitten eyes.
Anyway best dad in the show.
ahhh that makes sense speedy! didn't felix-gabriel in representation say to kagami-colt that he wanted his "best knight" in exchange for using the peacock miraculous?
i love the idea that the man just never speaks bc he has an american accent and one french person was rude to him about it one time on the street and so now he just. doesn't talk 🤣🤣🤣
I talk a lot about Nathalie on this blog but I don't mention Placide much
I have this headcanon that they're best friends. Like. Super close. Which I think is really funny given the different backgrounds, but also you can't work for Gabe for 15+ years and not make fun of him behind his back with someone.
Also I have a headcanon that they're both autistic and Placide is nonverbal but they can communicate basically just by raising their eyebrows at each other.
Idk I just think they're really cute in a platonic/sibling way.
I enjoy the idea of Placide and Adrien having a surrogate father-and-son relationship. But should that be the case in my AU? Can “Stammering Adrien” look to Placide, aka Gorilla, for fatherly advice? Can they play the occasional game of Catch? Perhaps Placide can give Adrien a pocket watch for his 18th birthday.
The look on Ladybug's face when he'd reached out to her as Chat was heartbreaking. He'd done his best to console her, but... he knew it wasn't enough.
The look on his friends' faces ever since then... especially Marinette's! Good lord. The fear that he could tell that she was trying to hide...
Something had to give.
Quietly, Adrien pulled the Gorilla aside one evening. "I need your advice... and I need you to promise me that you'll never tell my father what I'm asking."
The big man frowned, but nodded.
"If I wanted to get from here to London and back without my father knowing..."
It all came spilling out of him. That Felix had betrayed Ladybug, that Hawkmoth now had almost all of the Miraculous, that he needed to find out from Felix, face-to-face, cousin-to-cousin, why he did what he had done.
To his surprise, the bodyguard seemed to believe him... but asked if he had any proof.
Adrien held up his ring and said four words. The first two were "I do."
Thirty minutes later, Adrien turned to the Gorilla as his bodyguard's private car pulled up to a small, non-commercial airport.
"I get what you're suggesting here. But who do you know who might fly me?" he wondered.
The Gorilla simply reached into the glove compartment, produced a set of antique aviator's goggles... and grinned.
