Automatism (Chapter 1)

Violet glanced around the crowded marketplace, eyes searching for one familiar red coat in the crowds, desperate to find their uncle before it was too late. Soon enough, they spotted the familiar red leather of the coat, shoving through and popping up at his side. Jacque didn’t notice them at first, picking through his bag and pulling out some coins, exchanging them for a fruit. He paused, noticing Violet with a wide, warm smile.

“Violet! I wouldn’t have thought you’d want to come here-…” Jacque trailed off at the worried look on Violet’s face, thanking the stall keeper and pulling them aside gently. “Are you alright? You look worried- is it the noise? Are you overstimulated?” They shook their head quickly, pulling at his arm, trying to get him out the market. He gently grabbed Violet’s hands, tilting his head, as Violet looked close to tears.

“Easy… I know you want to go home Violet, but I need to get a few more things” He soothed, and Violet shook their head quickly “Uncle- Uncle we need to get out of here! Now!” They protested, but he was already walking to the next stall, each footstep seeming to mark his fate, as he got closer, and closer to the trap.

A spring-loaded box, angled just above the stall last on Jacque’s list, and as he slowly approached, Violet lunged, with the intent to shove him out the way of the dangling mechanism.

They made impact, barrelling into him, but instead, by some cruel twist of fate, they were both sent tumbling over, into the path of the trap. The box fell, a horrible, crunching end to the two of their lives, as the rest of the market fled in a panic from the bloody scene.

Violet was lucky, but Jacque? He had been completely crushed on impact, and the scene was approached slowly, with the mangled remains of Violet’s corpse being dragged away to the Aurora.

Saw a couple super super cool Mechanisms OC arts and listen I can't draw BUT I do write so of course I have a couple OCs for that universe so respectively I want to ramble about my main mechanized character.

I'm horrible at consistent back stories but the gist is that she ended up being a eat-the-rich Robinhood sorta person and got to kill a couple evil higher ups before her own over the top death (she was shot in the neck with an arrow and fell over a cliff into the sea. Is that dramatic enough to warrant a song?)

So yeah her mechanism is her whole neck (which is an idea that came to mine purely for the excuse of something that looks like those blackout neck makeup looks so she's just goth totally not immortal and part machine) though I like the idea of having certain visible pieces replaced (fingertips, ears, etc) due to hypothermia but that's just for funsies.

Also she fought in the war that took place in OUAT(IS) after mechanization but before meeting any other immortals bc slicing up rose reds is cheaper than therapy. (Also she definitely drunkenly preformed "Our Boy Jack" multiple times during the war like s fucked up dnd bard.)

If ever joined the crew of the Aurora would have a room full of the stuff she's collected from travels (so would both get along with and argue with Ivy plenty) and would immediately jump on the chance to earn the title crew's seamstress of all things bc the amount of clothes everyone on board goes through is abhorrent and the one time she snuck into a ball made her miss fancy clothes. (Jonny would probably say seamstress isn't intimidating or badass enough a title so she sews his mouth shut in his sleep. Gets shot a couple times for it.)

She/they, prefers blades to guns, ace and panromantic, probably has bonus tragic backstory like a fallen lover.

Some more drawings of my Mechanisms OC J0nny, a prototype clone of Jonny who fully believed he WAS Jonny d'Ville, until he killed a man who looked just like him in a barfight. I've tweaked his looks, makeup especially in his "post reboot" (ie after he "dies" after the event too and is revived by his best friend and right hand man), and that ref sheet is incoming! But I've been obsessed with this guy lately. Bastard of a man. I pronounce his name like ja'am but with Jonny. A ton more things about him, but I can put that under his ref sheet. <3

JUST REALIZED SOMETHING OMG, So I have a character (the one without arms) for the mechanisms and their name is Vivian, WANNA TAKE A WILD GUESS AT WHAT THEIR LAST NAME WAS?! MAYFIELD. THEIR NAME WAS VIVIAN MAYFIELD, and a month ago, I’m looking at them and i’m like “huh, wonder how I came up with this name.” AND WHEN I FINALLY LISTENED TO CAMP HERE AND THERE TWO WEEKS AGO I REALIZED ITS BECUSE IVE KNOWN ABOUT CH&T FOR A YEAR AND NEVER LISTEN TOO IT, BUT THE NAME MAYFIELD WAS SO GOOD TO ME THAT I JUST YONKED IT
