There's a long pause, where Stringbean purrs quietly, huddled between them. She's very warm, velvety, and her ears flop softly when Amity runs a hand over her head. It helps pull Amity away from her memories of the archives, even if the stinging throb in her chest is no easier to ignore.
"How can you go about your day without worrying about Luz?"
Camila shifts next to her, and then the arm she has around Amity's shoulders pulls her a little closer against her side.
"I always worry, cariño, I can't help it. It comes with loving someone.”
