#rayman #artists on tumblr #these were made over the course of like two months or so #you can see that i was messing with his design a bit #kind of adjusting the way i drew him as i went along #uhhh anyways yeah i just think he's neat #he's fun to draw #its because he doesn't have limbs #drawing limbs is my least favorite part of drawing any humanoid character #so him not having any takes away a lot of the frustration i often have in drawing certain dynamic poses #he's also very cartoony which is up my alley. very expressive and fun #he has helped me push drawing exaggerated expressions more #he has good shapes!! its good character design!!!#and drawing him is comforting #i'll draw something else eventually but for now i'm just having fun #i have no idea how i'm going to format this post on twitter without it getting cropped to hell #i will worry about that later

Scribbled these three floating heads/attempted kinda-sorta humanisations (I think people call these "gijinkas" now????) in the first couple hours of 2024. So honoured to enter this New Year with these guys in my heart. :-]

got tagged by @daggerbeanart <3 And i even managed to do it on a wednesday this time! xD

been working on some spiritfarer designs for ocs (raccoon is june, crane is var'renan, dog is liam) because the style is cute and it's good design practice (which i really need jfsjfld)

and got some super quick sketches for some kinda. character summary/intro icons for some other guys since ocs on my main blog are all over the place xd

I like doing comparisons for myself sometimes of my first drawing vs a more recent one (vs their in-game appearance) so. might as well put one here :] Plus bdays for all the kids, based on the earliest save files i could find <3

#for all of them cept noya and renan i did that first headshot very shortly after i started the games with them #noya and renan were the only exceptions where i drew them before i ever made them in game #bad idea bc once you have a look In Your Head it is impossible to make em look like that in the cc xD #degree of polish/effort/cartoony-ness for the recent sketches varies a lot lol but they still like. represent the difference imo #mostly i get a lot more loose w the shapes the more comfortable i get with drawing sb #honestly the birthdays are mostly ther for my own reference lmao bc i cannot remember dates to save my life #and its tedious to go looking for their save files every time #neira's is debatable bc i didn't start playing properly until october #but i *did* make her earlier than that. so.#also idk who i have posted screenshots of before so. possibly face reveal moment? xD #n e way. enough rambling xd #my ocs #might add all their tags later.......

i just really love seeing how my art improves when i get into something i like to draw. im pushing myself to constantly draw full bodies and weird poses and new compositions! im sketching more and working on rounding off smaller drawings

#i like getting to interpret these more cartoony designs and trying to find a middle ground in terms of what i usually draw #<- refraining from calling it my art style because i find the idea of sticking to one mode of expression limiting #and its not how i think!#on bad days i feel like i cant create consistent art. on good days i remember that this allows me to constantly challenge my comfort zone #and grow #anyway. back to what i was saying #i love interpreting futurama designs they are so cartoony but like. still within a realm i can interpret in a semi realistic way #sooooo its fun #it took a while (1-2 months)#and those first drawings were so bad!#but now its really cool and rewarding to see and draw

Hadri will say over and over again that they can't sleep but they will zone out for hours when they're comfortable. So it works out!

I saw this place on a gmod map and thought "mm comfy I want to sit there". Having Hadri there is the obvious next step.

I tried drawing something based on it instead of editing...I still want to try editing again but I don't have a good idea for that yet ^^

my actual criticism would be backgrounds they dont seem to be your strong suit,,, other than that i guess maybe try other artstyles! i like yours, but sometimes branching out and trying other styles will help you improve your own style.

#backgrounds are among my many achilles heels /j #i just don't really ENJOY doing backgrounds but i do recognize that they serve their importance #i agree i suck at backgrounds for the most part lol #as for where crumbled castles is un #*um #i! finished a panel the night before last! so that's. a small something :V #other styles could be interesting to try out too tbh #my current one is very much a 'comfort zone' sort of deal #but practicing more cartoony styles could help me with pushing expressions more liberally #and more realistic styles can help me understand anatomy and form a little better

I've been taking my art seriously since middle school and I'm still learning things now...things I probably should've learned sooner.

#i can't help but still feel like an amateur #maybe it's just me being my own harshest critic #I'm not making hyper detailed realism but I'm also not pushing my cartoony style enough #so my art ends up looking like some awkward middle ground #maybe I'd feel more comfortable pushing myself if i actually studied fundamentals instead of assuming I'd pick them up passively #asdfghjkl #i thought i was headed in the right direction but now i feel like i have a huge gap to cross over before i even think about making comics
