"They think I’m the least dangerous person in this car, do they? Well, they’re about to learn very differently."

Decided to redraw a moment from On the Getaway Mile by Odaigahara on AO3/ @droidofmay !

This may have taken a ridiculous amount of hours condensed into a few days and I went through it drawing cars and car interiors, but this was an absolute blast to do :D I hope I've done the fic sort of justice.

Welcome to my secret lair!!

I spent roughly... 18 hours working on this, the majority during this week and over the past three days, so I need to share my toils with people <3

Character/car references and page thumbnails! Featuring an incorrect scene placement and bad camera position. I reread the scene and placed it properly in the actual page. I hate drawing cars!! I was actually the most worried about panel placement when I started this— I was a guy who only did non narrative/illustrative panel pages and layout-less comics, but it wasn't that bad with a script! I could separate beats into panels, note which panels should be emphasised/larger, and assembled that into a page.

If you compare the fic with this comic, you can see how much dialogue I edited and moments I cut out. I couldn't fit it all on without having to draw even more pages, I wish I could though! Poor Mumbo only gets one line here. I'm so sorry my darling man <3 I also gave him a slight cyborg design because his implants are really important for his character and I needed some way to visually show that, even if it's not canon/mentioned.

The colouring method for this was really fun! It's similar to my aggie rainbow painting method but with less steps, hence narrow value range. It looks pretty and gets the vibe across well though.

Mumbo is sitting on the wrong side and should have his seatbelt on. He's also not carrying the stolen laptop as described.

It's explicitly noted that Mumbo cannot scan Grian like he can with Scar. Whoops!

Transmissions from the Foundation are via Mumbo and Scar's implants, but I couldn't think of a good way to portray that.

Despite guns and weapons being mentioned, I somehow didn't get the opportunity to draw a single one.

I love hand lettering. I also hate it! I will continue to do it.

I think the larger MCYT fandom needs to come together to petition AO3 to change the character tags. Yes, it'll be annoying to redo for them and us, but I would MUCH rather tag things with shit like "Grian (Hermitcraft)" and "GoodTimesWithScar (Third Life)" instead of fuckin "Charles | Grian (Hermitcraft)" or "Ryan | GoodTimesWithScar (Third Life)", because I, and no one I know, have never thought of those cubitos/creators as Charles or Ryan instead of Grian or Scar. Bryce instead of fWhip? Hell even "Dave | Technoblade", even if it's not being changed and is wrong bc his name was Alex, it should be NOT THAT.

Their real life names should not be associated with the character name unless their username is different than the general name they use even in the content they produce (such as Jimmy | SolidarityGaming, Lizzie | LDShadowLady, or Martyn | InTheLittleWood). No one calls Bdubs "John" or "Booko". He's just Bdubs or BdoubleO100.

I know Mumbo's name is Oliver Brotherhood. But that's not the name I associate with him, and I'm willing to bet most fans don't associate "oliver brotherhood" with Mumbo either.

Content Creators should only have their iRL names attached to their AO3 tags if a) the tag is for ACTUAL RPF that isn't about the fictional personas, which SHOULD BE A SEPARATE TAG, or b) they actually go by their actual name in their content. And even then, if they don't go by their FULL NAME it should be "first name | username" not "full legal name | username". So "Scott | Smajor1995" or "Scott | DangThatsALongName", not "Scott Major | Smajor1995" or "Scott Major | DangThatsALongName". "MumboJumbo (Hermitcraft)" not "Oliver Brotherhood | MumboJumbo".

Just. We are the only ones that can tell AO3 why the tags are currently wrong. And we need to do so.

Mumbo is riddled with anxiety alright.

Watching his new video and he's just. Like. Wiggling. While getting his permits.

Mumbo struggling with anxiety in big crowds of people. Especially when all the attention is on him.

I think after that whole bit is done and all of them go their separate way Mumbo cries.

Like Mumbo obviously knew he'd have to do this and he knows he could have asked grian or x if he could do it later when no one else was there besides like those two so he wouldn't be as anxious. But he wanted to prove to himself that he could do it. And he did it. It was just a *lot*.

Sliding in redscape because I can- Scar noticed that Mumbo was incredibly nervous during the whole thing and he goes to check up on him only to find him crying somewhere. Scar offers to take him to his train to sit him on the bed and maybe cuddle if he's up for it. Or he tells Mumbo he can leave if he wants to be alone.

Mumbo just nods to the second option and Scar leaves him be.

Mumbo later that evening comes to Scars train himself to climb into his bed and cuddle.

He apologizes and says he just needed to be alone where no one could see him, where no one could perceive him and where he wasn't as anxious that someone was watching him.

Scar tells him it's okay. And he tells Mumbo that maybe if he wants to work on his anxiety he should take smaller steps and not jump straight in like he just did that day.

Mumbo agrees that yea, that's probably smart.

Mumbo falls asleep comfortable and warm in Scars bed.

The fundamental problem with Scar and Grian when it comes to forming alliances is a difference of expectations. Grian is a tactician. He assumes that in a war or a big multiplayer game, you need to get yourself a loyal team. Anybody who is on your team is your buddy, anybody who isn't on your team is your enemy. That is the only way to win. Anybody who won't pick a side is not to be trusted, and he is surprised and annoyed if someone won't make their allegiances clear.

Scar, on the other hand, is a diplomat. He never thinks about forming a team because his assumption is that everyone he meets is going to be nice to him. His charisma is high enough that this is true way more often than not. Even when he is being a chaos gremlin, he tends to get away with it for much longer than he probably ought to because he is funny and charming and just a little bit intimidating. He doesn't consider people he makes deals with to be teammates because he doesn't see the world in terms of teams, but as a network of shifting relationships. He is surprised and annoyed when the web starts getting sticky, with various friends starting to want him to fight other friends.

Grian believes that loyalty deserves loyalty, and that if you are someone's teammate you protect each other no matter how you feel. Scar believes that friendship is what it is, and that relationships can ebb and flow with time and circumstance. Note that in Third Life, newly-red Scar seeks to reestablish a friendship rather than confirm that Grian is still loyal to him, and that in Double Life, Grian justifies his secret soulmate by rationalizing that the relationship will in the end also benefit Scar by keeping them safe. Note also that in Last Life and Double Life Scar wanted to live alone but work together and Grian was not at all on board with that because you can trade and borrow and joke from separate bases but you can't really protect one another.

There is always going to be friction in their alliances because Scar wants a buddy and Grian wants a teammate and those two things are not always compatible at all. It's going to be the same thing with Hermitopia because the more Grian tries to loop Scar into the team, the harder Scar is going to fight to get away, while at the same time Scar is very unlikely to actually take sides against the Hermits because they are his friends. Neither of them can get what they want from each other because neither of them have figured out how to make the other understand what it actually is.

Maybe they need another panda sanctuary. I hear that's good for communication.

That one AU I have where Mumbo is dating Griande in s6, and while she’s separate from Grian they look way too alike and I don’t want to draw this interaction so I just wrote all of my thoughts down here ok and action—

"You think she looks like me, and yet you’re still dating her? You see how this looks, Mumbo." Grian said, raising a brow

"It’s not like that.” Mumbo defends himself against the in love with my best friend allégations

“Uh-huh….. Soo.. What is it?" Grian questions

“What, what do you mean?”

"Is it the long hair? If I had long hair?” Grian says, making a show out of mimicking long hair

“What-Grian—" Mumbo catches on, but there’s no stopping Grian in this mind game

"Or if I still had boobs? Is that it? That’s what you like?” Grian pats his own chest

“Grian! Now hold on a second-“

"No wait! I got it! It’s my wings, isn’t it! You find my wings ugly." Grian covers his mouth in a faux sadness, dramatically bending at the waist and furrowing his brows in absolute heartbreak

A low laughter crawls in the back of Mumbo’s throat, threatening to explode at Grian’s performance. “You are ridiculous. Ridiculous! So--so what about you, huh! Why are you trying so hard to figure it out, are you attracted to me then? Hmm!” Mumbo accuses

Grian laughs as he crumbles to the floor, defeated as Mumbo turns on him. “No.” He answers easily, glancing up at Mumbo still standing above him, "Hm. Well..? You are an attractive guy.”

Mumbo surprises at that, laughing in his confusion, "What? I mean thank you—but what? Why did that sound genuine from you-”

"It is genuine! I’m capable of being nice Mumbo. And I’m gay, so—have I told you that actually—?"

"No—you haven’t! But! Good to know? I guess? What are you say-"

Grian sits up with the help of his wings fluttering, "I’m not jealous of your girlfriend, Mumbo. Ok I am—but not in that way.”

“I—you just turned me down before I even said anything, I can’t believe that, that’s a new low for me!” Mumbo sinks to the floor, sitting criss-cross across from Grian, whose staring at him.

Grian laughs, how did this turn into him gently turning Mumbo down? “We can still be friends, Mumbo.”

Mumbo smiles and scoffs, "Obviously. And I wasn’t trying to ignore you, I’ll even get to responding to your mail, promise, I’ll make a mental note of it."

Grian’s hands clench and shake slightly, he almost—almost—squeals at the excitement of Mumbo using their mail system "Yesss thank you there’s some really good stuff in there!"

They pause in silence, only smiling at each other

“Oh, but I have to ask, what is your type then?” Mumbo asks, curious

"Scar.” Grian answers suddenly and earnestly.

Mumbo raises his brows in surprise “Really?? You dont even have to think about it??”

Grian surprises himself, he doesn’t even know Scar that well, but that was the only example he could think of on the spot.

Grian laughs loudly, and Mumbo can’t help but copy him, what even is this conversation?

Ariana Griande is in fact, not Grian's drag persona. Well, she is, but she wasn't originally. Ariana was Grian's twin sister. No one knew she existed, not even her other siblings.

She died around the time Grian joined Hermitcraft. With him just moving to a new server and becoming a watcher, he never really had the time to deal with his grief. And so Grian became Griande, in Ariana's honour.

Which is why he was so surprised to see her, just sitting in the permit office. With Mumbo no less!

So Ariana and Grian became separate people again. They still love to mess with their boyfriends though, that will never change.

Grian still pretends to be Ariana just to see the look on Mumbo's face when he realises he's just said something incredibly suggestive to Grian thinking it was Ariana, and Ariana pretends she's him dressed as her so she can mess with Scar. Grian talks to him, leaves, Ariana comes back a few minutes later, and she has absolutely no idea what they were just talking about which annoys Scar. Grian doesn't know this is happening until Scar mentions it.

Grian guesses it's fair, after how much he's dressed up as Griande to mess with Mumbo! Doesn't mean he's going to let it go easily, though.

Mumbo and Scar are considering what they can do to get them both back. And if they should be getting anniversary gifts alongside 'my partners sibling' gifts.

I’m doing it I’m yapping.

Okay so my life series fantasy AU

Basically Joel and Jimmy were isekai’d into this fantasy world. Everyone else is already part of the world. Jimmy basically wake up with Grian standing over him (Grian is a parrot Avian in this as per usual) and Jimmy totally freaks out.

And all I know from there is that Jimmy and Grian overthrow Ren and Joel heads to the feywilds and meets Lizzie. Oh and flower husbands meet and kiss by a lake, I’m sure there will be angst I’m getting there

So now actually about the guys

Bdubs

Moss spirit

He lives in the forest and loves to cause chaos

But also he helps people get in an out of his forest because it’s dangerous at night

Being a moss spirit Bdubs body is basically just made up of moss

Bdubs and Grian have issues, and when I say issues Grian causes problems and Bdubs has to deal with the aftermath

BigB

BigB is a fae who lives outside of the fae wilds

He has a bakery in the main city of the kingdom Ren and Martyn rule

He frequently speaks to the royal order something something maybe suspicious things

He’s best friends with Tango who he met through Skizz

Etho

He’s an Arctic fox

He lives in the ice realms which are relatively near the southern realms which is where the kingdom is

Jimmy breaks into his house by accident at some point and Etho just is like

‘This guy is my kid now’

Jimmy has no idea how to escape forcibly assigned son

Scar

A desert elf (desert duo ref)

Scar used to live in the kingdom before moving to the desert realms with Grian (they’re boyfriends)

Scar is a falcon tamer, usually he just tames regular falcons but was called into the city square to deal with a particularly pesky boy which is how he meet Grian

He also still has a wheelchair but it has like magic powers, Scar used his desert elf powers to make it so his wheelchair can drive across sand.

Grian

A Parrot Avian

HE CAUSES PROBLEMS ON PURPOSE

He has little bird legs and he likes to fly onto Scars falcon brace

And he takes shiny things from shops in the kingdom

He’s the one who recommended Scar go back to the desert

Impulse

A Sun Imp

There are lots of different types of Imp’s

Depends which realm they were born it

Impulse was born in the sun realm

Martyn

He’s a wood elf

And he and Ren have issues

Ren and Martyn learn to stop tyrannic ruling

I’m gonna get the watchers involved somehow

He’s being given instructions and visions

He tries to follow them but it only leads to dead ends

Or death

Lizzie

She’s a Fae

And the High Queen of the fae

So she lives in the feywilds

Do her people lowkey kidnap Joel?

Yes but that’s a separate issue

Mumbo

He’s a vampire :3

But instead of drinking your blood he’s more like

Sunburns…

And can’t enter a building without permission

Sometimes you’ll just see Mumbo walking around with an umbrella

Everyone knows he’s a vampire

Sometimes they offer him blood he always says no though he thinks it’s rude of him

Skizz

Skizz is an angel

But he’s also the most unlucky person in the world

He was the first person to buy from Tangos shop and they became good friends because of that

Skizz is aware of the watchers due to his angel origins

Scott

Scott is actually a star born

But he disguises himself as a Sea elf

He lives in solitude behind a waterfall in a flower meadow

He has long elf ears and coral in his hair that looks like it’s arranged slightly like a flower crown

Starborns have the ability to take the magical abilities of their surroundings or their friends, so Scott has magical powers relating to water and flowers, but this can change based on his surroundings in which he can gain additional powers (Water and Flower related powers will not change because he’s lived in the meadow for so long)

Something with him and Acho (his brother) having an argument, causing them to split from each other and adorn disguises heading down to the over realm

Scott has spoken to the royal counsel before but they do not like each other which is why he did not choose to live in the city, He is courteous with them but only really visits the city to speak with Impulse who he made friends with while living in the city.

Starborns being a rarer and more hunted but also very powerful species and kept track of by the royal order so he was mainly there to fill out paperwork

Tango

Tango is a fireborn

Fireborn do not have parents they spawn from fire and are only found in the Nether realms (Not to be confused for the Nether World) At the age of 16 Fireborn creatures will leave the Nether realms to find a home for themselves. The only fireborn who reside pass the age of sixteen are those who are unable to leave or caretakers of fireborn young.

So when Tango was 16 he left to the southern arms to set up a mechanics shop

When Tango gets angry his fire hair goes blue

Tango also had a mechanical arm :3

Pearl

Pearl is a lunar moth

She and Grian are siblings

They cause problems together I love them

I sadly don’t have much for anyone else right now :(

I’m working on it, but they’re my sillies and I can’t wait to make this a fic it’ll be so fun

Zedeath (A grim reaper that hands around for tea. Skills: He gets things from off server for the group)

Grimdog (A Grim reaper that plays guitar. Skills: He trapped some Hoglins so they can have endless pork. Other than that, he mostly just lazes about and keeps a protective watch over NPG and Robo, who aren't very strong)

Dr. Tagno (A blaze hybrid that has an inferiority complex that he hides with a superiority complex. Skills: He is the only one that has even the slightest clue how Redstone works)

AriesEva (A ram girl who knows GeminiTay. Skills: She takes care of plants and plant decor around the Nether group)

Helsknight (A grumpy half demon, half elf that is annoyed with his older brother Wels. Skills: He can fight. Slight anger issues)

Secret life spoilers//

I’ve seen people saying that Scar is the earth and others saying scar is the eclipse and here are my thoughts on it because holy shit was that an ending

i like the eclipse thing, but here’s the thing: Grian never directly helped scar. He took thirty-five hearts off Gem, yeah, but I know that Impulse and Scott accidentally hit her a couple times in that chaos too. This is one of the first seasons they’ve not had any sort of alliance/enemy thing, and honestly they didn’t interact a ton. While I love the idea in concept, i also feel like it’s good to separate Scar as his own character rather than just as on half of desertduo (this isn’t to say I don’t adore desertduo, i do, i just think a lot of times they’re lumped together and it’s often all they are seen for but their characters are so much more in depth)

and the Pearl thing is cool, the moon helping him to the end. She never really fought back, either

the cool part about the eclipse is the hiding of scar’s dark side. He’s bright and welcoming and friendly, until he’s not. Then it’s any man’s game, and he will not hesitate to slaughter someone in his path.

but here’s my thoughts on the earth

scar tried to be good. He tried, he wanted desperately to be kind and good and everything he saw others as. But the secret keeper wrote him a villain, and he ended up taking on that role. He simply wanted to grow beauty, to provide for others, but in the end outside forces caused him to falter. Earth tries to grow, but is wracked by natural disasters out of its control that cause it to fracture. It eventually turns on the very things it once sought to bring life to, playing all cards until you realize it was never playing any at all, like a fire; it warms, but can burn and destroy if pushed too far. Merely biding time, like an earthquake or a volcano. The warning tremors before the culmination.

but after it all, he was still kind. He was still good, despite it all. He died thanking those who helped him to where he was; he refused to kill Pearl even when she begged him to take her life for the bonus hearts. He had no alliances, but he certainly had friends. he never did quite know how to be alone. He didn’t even realize he won until he was told “she’s dead Scar. You won”. He was told by the sun, like the dawn, that the moon who he kept in his orbit was gone. And his first thought was “how did the guy with no friends win?” because in the end, earth is a lover, not a fighter.

i saw someone else say the earth is lonely as well, as the only planet with such a massive span of life. It’s constantly with things, but remains alone, separate by circumstance, which I think is a really fucking awesome point too :) feel free to disagree, I’m just saying earth is my vote (also the motif of flowers in his skins this season—sunflowers, poppies, lilacs)

LAST LIFE APOCALYPSE AU MASTERLIST

A very intensely written Life Series au by ME!

All general updates questions and lore can be found in the #last life apocalypse au tag! This post in particular will act as a masterlist regarding the timeline, worldbuilding and lore of the au. I wish to (hopefully) keep updating this post as more characters and arcs are revealed.

Now without further ado - lets begin:

TIMELINE (Summarised)

The timeline of the AU is defined by two major arcs:

The past PROLOGUE 3RD LIFE that is the childhood of majority of the cast (location: their childhood town)

LAST LIFE PRESENT day that takes place in the woods (the main event - when the Apocalypse starts)

These are arcs that involve most if not all of the cast members from their respective seasons.

[BETWEEN ARCS] Between these arcs occur smaller events - big to some but not on a scale to affect everyone. This is the transition period after the cast graduate from Middle School and go their separate ways before reuniting (by fate) in the Last Life Woods. Events that happen in the between arcs take inspiration from the CC’s other respective series beyond the Life Series.

Some current inspirations: Evo SMP, Hermitcraft (various seasons), Scar’s TCD series, Bdubs’ SOTF. More about their involvement as updates progress.

[SCU SPIN-OFF] Consider this as an epilogue describing the state of the planet decades after the main cast has died. Not considered a ‘major arc’ as it is not focused on the main cast but exists solely for worldbuilding purposes (because I like it :] ).

WORLDBUILDING

Setting of Last Life takes place in the woods, think of American national parks or camping grounds on a road trip, or the Walking Dead (the telltale game not the show)

CLIMATE: Generic American woodlands climate but with a less generic winter weather. As the situations for the player’s get more dire, so does the environment around with forecasts for an oncoming snow blizzard from Magic Mountain as the world fades to white.

It is also during this time of year and climate where a creature known as the Wither is rumoured to roam the lands. It is a cryptid that unlike most woodland creatures, the Wither wakes from hibernation only during the Winter when it is cold enough and feasts on a very specific carnivorous diet. In reality this is known as the Patient 0 of the Bogeydisease, born and mutated within the labs of the Research Facility, leading to the downfall desolation of what is now known as the Abandoned Observatory.

MAIN LOCATIONS:

SOUTHLANDS (Camp Southlands) - Were once a popular camping hotspot before the apocalypse. The people who survived there were once camp counselors (Grian, Impulse, Mambo, Martyn, Jimmy). The grounds acted as both a family resort and a summer camp for kids where they are divided into one of the five factions supervised by each counselor: -MARTYN Counsellor of Athletics and house of the GREEN CATS -IMPULSE Counsellor of Cooking and house of the YELLOW SUN BEARS -JIMMY Counsellor of Safety and house of the BLUE DOGS (formerly blue canaries) -MUMBO Counsellor of Crafts (shop) and house of the BLACK MOTHS -GRIAN Counsellor of (shenanigans) Arts and house of the RED BIRDS

FAIRY FORT (Fairy Fort Reserve FFR) - A geographically enclosed area dedicated to protecting the land and the endangered animals that are shelter there. Ownership of the Fairy Fort was passed along the generations of Lizzie’s family tree. The people who survived there are park rangers with Lizzie as their lead. They have current beef with the Southlanders as there are many things they disagree with and compete against.

ICE FORT (Shade-E-E’s Gas) - As it’s located near the center of the map, the ethubs ‘Ice Fort’ is one of the only ounces of urban infrastructure out in the woods. Upon arrival of the Apocalypse, it is a fortified Shade-E-E’s gas station barricaded by the only employees Bdubs and Etho (the manager). It once acted as a pitstop to drivers and travelers alike and is the only place in the woods that has a working cellphone tower and final connection to the outside world dubbed as “Etho’s Tree”.

TEAM BEST HIDEOUT / ROCKTAPUS (Abandoned Observatory/Research Centre) - An abandoned observatory squatted on by Skizz that doubled as a bunker that was originally built in preparation for a nuclear fallout. Upstairs the observatory contains secret government documents regarding information about the Bogeydisease and the Wither cryptid - Indecipherable to all except for Tango who understands them. Downstairs the bunker’s monitors are linked to several surveillance cameras in the woods.

GASLIGHT GIRLBOSS GATEKEEP (Scottage Club) - A retreat saved for the rich and elite. While the Scottage Club has its HQ here, holiday properties of its patrons are scattered all across the map (the secret green lives hideouts).

MAGIC MOUNTAIN - Kept off limits just for how dangerous the place is, no one ever goes there. Rumor has it the mountain has magic capabilities that can drive a man insane. The last human sightings near Magic Mountain were two lone hikers who by arrogance wished to conquer and come back surviving the woodland’s most treacherous point. And while they were never seen again, they say if you look very closely with a spyglass, you can catch glimpses of a small, broken up hut at the top.

THE NETHER (NETHERLANDS not-the-country): The NETHER is the closest town over from the Last Life woodlands and is home to facilities such as a Fortress Dept Store and a camping & fishing shop known as The Bastion. While hypothetically the cast could escape the woodlands to live in the Nether, it is because of the high value resources that can be found in these stores that attract both surviving scavengers and zombies alike - making the town very dangerous to defend.

The ‘nether portals’ in this au are the vehicles each team has on them to travel between locations. The Nether may be the closest town there is, but even walking there on foot is extremely dangerous - especially considering the apocalypse and the harsh elements.

BOGEYDISEASE

For legal reasons, I dropped biology in highschool as soon as I could - I do not know shit about diseases and how people develop medicine. This is a fictional disease. TLDR; I am talking out of my ass.

[Origins of the Bogeydisease and the L.I.F.E antidotes pending (secret!)]

Transfer of the disease in its early stages of evolution could only be transferred if bacteria had direct contact with the host’s bloodstream. At best (?) in small amounts the host would experience a fever and shivering. At worst the host would feel extreme fatigue, most likely dying of starvation/dehydration due to it being unaware of their hunger (and fatigue - the disease manipulates the brain into thinking the host is not fatigued).

Nature of the disease (well.. virus) as it continues is designed to adapt with the changing environment. While most samples were not able to survive its effects, some victims of the Wither’s bite would survive and exhibit a second stage of the disease’s effects. If the host were to survive the initial stages of the disease, once the disease has fully adapted to the body of its host it would evolve in order to prolong its survival. This is evident by physical alterations of the host’s appearance.

Not just physical changes but behavioural as well. The host would act more akin to serving its natural instincts, more inclined to the hunt and the tendency to keep itself alive.

People who are in the second stages and beyond of contracting the Bogeydisease are considered Red Lives. It is possible to cure Red Lives out of the Bogeydisease as long as the disease has not evolved to its later stages. WHEN a person is cured using a L.I.F.E antidote they may experience side-effects [explained in the INTRO]. In some instances, ex-hosts may retain some of the traits afflicted when they were Bogey.

Later stages of disease evolution. The disease and its hosts show strong similarities to how rabies can be passed between hosts. And based on how a host reacts to the disease, hosts of the disease are classified into two types:

Host is overwhelmed by the effects of the disease and dies early. If the body and surrounding scene are left untreated, the disease will continue to live on in the decomposing body and grow a special fungus that feeds off the remains. The fungus and its disease reproduces by its spores which allow the disease to not only infect the environment around but also proves the possibility in contracting an airborne variant of the disease.

Host grows accustomed to the effects of the disease exhibiting the aforementioned loss of higher brain functions above (incapable of reason and rational thought). Movements grow erratic, constantly moving as a means of maintaining fixed body temperature. For colder climates the diet of hosts relies on feasting on warm bodies. Failure to do so will induce drowsiness in the host, placing them in a slumber in order to regain energy and try again. Hosts also show signs of excessive salivation and occasional bleeding. Direct exposure to any of the host’s bodily fluids is another method in contracting the disease.

Suddenly Grian is not standing where he was standing one second ago. He’s slightly to the left, and he’s also sitting down. He startles, hands flailing as though to catch himself. “That woke you up,” Scar says, smug.

“What—? Scar,” Grian starts, but then he’s moved again — about five blocks to the left this time. He jolts, tries to stand up, and realizes he’s sitting in a boat — an invisible boat.

“This is a neat little trick, you know, Doc taught me this one. It’s like — some kind of glitch with boat placing. All you have to do is — boop!” And then he’s gone again. “Ta-daaa! The Great and Powerful Scar strikes again!”

“Scar,” Grian shouts from twenty-five blocks away, trying very hard to be frustrated, but he is half-laughing. He’s clambering out of the boat as Scar jogs over, making a series of dramatic sound effects, and Grian risks a glance with his Watcher eyes and sees seven more boats in his hotbar — “No, no, no you don’t” — and then Grian’s moved again, and he yelps in shock, much to his embarrassment.

“Scar, stop it — no! Now is not the time! This is — I’m being serious, Scar,” he protests, but it’s not so believable because he’s full-on giggling now. “Scar!”

“Oh, I’m being serious, too. Very, very serious. In fact, I’m making a business deal. I can sell you the knowledge of how to perform this glitch for” — he pauses to actually count on his stupid fingers — “every diamond you own! How does that sound?”

“Scar.”

“See, I’ve been trying to nail the specifics, but it’s tricky. Doc said that it’s a little bit like ender pearls, but I’m not sure how. And you can’t do it with yourself, only with another player. He also said it works in multiples of five and that you’ll always teleport in the same direction and a whole bunch of boring stuff that I don’t really remember because I didn’t listen — hmm, come to think of it, that’s probably why it’s so tricky to nail the specifics. Maybe I should go back and ask him again —”

God, this man is going to be the death of him. Grian drags a hand down his face, still giggling. “You are so dumb,” he says, “I can’t believe it sometimes. I love you.” He doesn’t really mean for that last bit to slip out, and his breath catches a little when he realizes, but Scar doesn’t seem to notice.

“I am not dumb,” he says, placing a hand on his chest. “Grian! My closest confidante! How could you speak ill of me this way? I simply have a — a spicy attention span!”

“The spiciest,” Grian agrees, nodding, and for a moment Scar’s distraction has worked perfectly, and he forgets everything he was afraid of. There’s only Scar’s face, bright with mirth, and the sun in his hair, and — and he’s reaching for another boat.

I also just had to reread the lore doc I compiled back in may because it's been so long since I've looked at the au WHEEZE

ANYWAYS!

what to share hmmmmm. their love square is very messy, mhm mhm. when the story begins, hotguy and cuteguy have already been working together for about a year, so they know each other pretty well! though grian and scar haven't met once.

they're kind of living in two separate worlds. scar is in the world of the elite because of his parents, where as grian is middle class. they have met once before, long before hotguy and cuteguy existed, though grian doesn't remember it. scar does. because it was the day he fell in love with grian <3

it was something small, but it was a moment that was everything to scar. he was having a rough day, one of the ones where it felt like everything was out to get him. he happened to walk past the barge just as grian was leaving, a bag of extra pastries in hand. they bumped into one another, and grian, seeing how pouty scar was, decided to hand him the bag, telling him it looked like he needed it.

and scar was... so touched. so touched in fact, that he 100% fell for the stranger giving him a bag of pastries. he tried to find him the next day, but grian wasn't there (aka scar visited the bakery when grian happened to be out on break, only meeting joel and jimmy instead). scar never really connects the dots that grian is the owner of the bakery.

not until the story begins, at least! because the universe throws our heroes back together in the form of a party. one that grian's bakery is hired to cater. and grian knows all about the goodtimes family, he can't stand how stuck up they are. and naturally, he assumes the same of scar. he's forced to cater this party, runs into scar, and scar is so happy to finally know the name of the mysterious but benevolent pastry boy he met :D

and the flipside, with hotguy and cuteguy... grian definitely wasn't expecting to ever met hotguy. not in person at least. it happens by chance, with the two of them running into each other quite a bit. they're chasing down the same villains, and even looking into the same problem.

grian has... a lot of expectations of hotguy built up in his mind, since he's watched interviews and clips on the web. it's a "never meet your heroes" moment, really. because hotguy is the exact opposite of what grian expects him to be. he can quite goofy and clumsy, especially in battle. and they don't work well together at all at first. grian has to break down the expectations he has for the hero, which happens the more time they spend together.

there's almost this one sided rivalry going on, when they first start working together. because grian has these expectations, and a need to prove himself. oh and y'know. he's also crushing on the guy. majorly. it's bad. it's a mess. they work through it, become really good partners. grian's feelings only worsen. except hotguy doesn't see him as anything more than a friend, a teammate. rip buddy </3

but I think my favorite side of this lil love square is grian and hotguy, purely because they're goofy little guys with crushes on each other and thinking about the two of them interacting in Any capacity is really cute.

there's more world building here, but this is already getting very long LMAO. I've got more though! :D

anyways does your grian design just not care about gender roles and presents however she wants or do you not draw her more feminine since transfem grian isn’t the major head canon to avoid confusion?

i like learning about people’s lgbtq head canons XD

i think she just presents how she wants, yeah! i imagine she mostly wears more gender-neutral clothing like… sweaters, collared shirts, sweaters over collared shirts, lol. which is basically what most people’s grian designs already wear, i just enjoy exploring that character design concept in a slightly different direction i suppose? im certainly not the first person to hc grian as transfem, but i think for me it started when one day my friend sent me a drawing of grian i had done and joked that it looked just like our other friend who is transfem. it was funny bc it was true, but it made me realize i had a lot more fun drawing grian when i thought of the character as being transfem lol.

so as for why my grian isn’t super feminine, i think it’s also just because a lot of trans people i know personally tend to present similarly (that being, dressing more gender-neutral and not really worrying about gender stereotypes). that’s not to say all trans people present this way of course, just that i know a few folks that do! so i guess i enjoy drawing a character that reminds me of those around me. alternatively i know lots of transmasc people who enjoy dressing feminine as well and so on. for full disclosure i’m a trans man myself, so i don’t want to pretend i know everything about the transfem experience specifically, but i can at least relate to the trans experience overall o7

either way it makes me really happy that trans people on all wavelengths have been sending me messages saying that my grian gives them gender envy LOL. it’s really unexpected since i don’t draw grian as often as cub or scar for example, but it’s still really appreciated nonetheless :’)

Just recently blocked the trafficblr and life series tags.

The way people wouldn’t stop talking about scar and Grian having sand permits this season pushed me over the edge. Hermitcraft has become a safe place for me, and the life series fandom has always been bad for my mental health.

Scar and Grian can be separate entities. They ARE separate entities. They are two different people. They don’t always have to be roped into the same box.

Anyway never feel bad for blocking tags. It can help your feelings a lot, and it affects no one but you.

Yea thats honestly very fair. i might do that as well because as much as i love desert duo and 3rd life its started to get real annoying. i like the fact that these two fandoms overlap so much and i do find some of the angst and the ideas interesting but this has just been bugging me lately sdsdkjf

like it feels like people cannot view scar specifically without grian by his side. grian? sure people throw in mumbo and now even gem to him. (which okay. they can also be their own people come on.)

Double life headcanons, let’s go

Just watched this series, then every life series, and now I’m in the middle of Empires, is this what you would call a rabbit hole?

Anyways, one small hc for each of the soulbonds

Ren and BigB are literally always touching. Just, constant physical contact. Walking, running, hunting, farming, building, everything. They’re holding hands, petting each other’s hair, patting each other’s backs, the whole nine yards. When they’re separated they scratch a little on their arm, or squeeze their hands together extra hard just so the other can feel it

Grian and Scar gain about a million cat scratches every day. Scar is around the jellies constantly, and they’re bound to accidentally claw him at some point, but whenever Grian as much as come near them they go on the attack. Their arms are just covered in claw marks, to the point where you can barely see them anymore

Impulse and BDubs go above and beyond when it comes to pet names. Just, the weirdest names you will ever hear, to the point where it sounds like they’re putting a spell on you. It’s almost a battle at this point. Impulse will call out something like “Skrunkly scribblydoinky !” And BDubs will respond with “Yes tootsy goopsy datootsit?” It’s so weird whenever someone overhears.

Etho and Joel are constantly pushing each other off cliffs and into lava, because somehow they both always forget that they’re bonded. They’re both chaotic idiots and just like to mess around, so yeah pushing him from this height won’t kill him! And then when it’s done they’re always like shit wait-

Jimmy and Tango joke about death a lot. A lot. Jimmy is the local canary, and Tango was the first one to die, so they’re always like “Welp, time to gain some exp, see you when we respawn!” “Okay have fun honey, imma go steal some iron from Cleo, bet I’ll die first!” “We’ll see about it!”

Cleo and Martyn are always intentionally taking damage to piss each other off. Waiting a few extra seconds before putting the fire out, intentionally running their toe into a table, touching a pufferfish for no reason, stuff like that, all to piss the other off. It’s not healthy

Scott has a constant pressure in his chest. He doesn’t know what it is, or what’s causing it, but he knows that it comes from Pearl. He doesn’t dare try to figure out what it is, afraid of the answer
