Travelling circus AU

Sooo, what if the Madrigals were a travelling circus?

Like, say Alma and Pedro were performers but from different circus families. Alma was a stunt woman/did very daredevil things and Pedro simply was a trapeze artist.

It was common for her and his family to compete against each other in different areas of the town they lived in. Their families knew each other pretty well, basically frenemy families.

Alma and Pedro were enemies to frenemies, frenemies to friends, then friends to lovers. After they became lovers (and married), they convinced their respective families to actually form one whole circus together.

After a WHOLE LOT of convincing their parents, they agreed, and became known as "Circo de magia familiar" (Circus of family magic). Everyone tried to get along the best they could and ended up pretty comfortable with each other.

Their big circus actually became more well known by half of Colombia and people started coming from all over the country. The whole Madrigal and Luz family became popular in under five years.

(I HC Alma's last name is Luz)

But with fame...comes its cons. Let's just say not everyone liked the circus family and well...you know what happened. The whole circus tent, train...just everything was destroyed.

You see, Alma and Pedro's family were full of bizarre people. Think the greatest showman if you've seen it. If not, think the bearded lady, muscle man, conjoined twins, etc.

So, people being people...yeah.

Alma was left with her triplets but thankfully a miracle happened and most of her and Pedro's family was still there. In the blink of an eye, both sides of the family were protected by a large circus tent.

And on the side of the tent, appeared a long train with lots of colors and warmth surrounding it. You can see the towers (top parts) of the tent as different rooms or areas like a house. Like Casita, but a tent.

Alma's remaining family: Her two (conjoined) aunts Maya and Sophia, her Tio Bernardo, her mother Dulce, younger cousin (eight) Jorge, her triplets, and her dog Chispa.

Pedro's remaining family: His parents Viva and Pepe, his sister Acacia and brother Julian, and his abuela carmen.

The whole family felt unsafe staying in the town they were in, so they decided to become a travelling circus. They had a train, why not go places with it? So, they took down the tent and hopped in the train, which is also like Casita. And also bigger on the inside.

Bruno gets his gift and acts as a fortune teller. He also helps come up with storylines for the performers to act. Julieta gets her gift and only uses her magic for her family. She does bake some snacks for the audience to enjoy though. Pepa gets her gift of indestructibility and becomes just like her mother with daredevil stunts.

(Fun fact: Pepa's concept version was actually supposed to have a gift of indestructibility, so I put that in here.)

Pepa and Julieta met their husbands by performing a few nights in their town. So, whenever they had the opportunity to stop in that exact town once in a while, the girls would visit them until eventually they got married.

The grandkids come along, and all the gifts are the same except for Dolores's, she gets the gift of playing whatever instrument she puts her hands on. She often helps the band out if one extra player who couldn't make it.

She also has a way to hear music from afar. One day in her tweens she heard a boy playing the guitar and singing, she followed the sound, and met Mariano.

And to Dolores' luck, his grandmother applied to the Circus as tightrope girl. She was pretty agile and knew ballet, so balancing wasn't that hard for her.

(There are also some other people who joined the circus. It's like a little village inside the tent/train. Mostly people who are seen as "freaks")

Mirabel doesn't have a gift, but she's still included in everything that's family. She's even learning how to do trapeze like Pedro did and scary stunts like Alma.

And she doesn't quite care that she doesn't have one either, most people in her abuela and abuelo's side of the family don't have gifts.

The way the family navigates shows is by holidays. Shows are 6 days before the exact holiday. On the exact holiday, everyone takes a break and celebrates it.

The most common ones they celebrate are Halloween, Christmas, Dia de los muertos, etc.

Everyone is happy in this au (I've been writing angst too much, and I need a break). Ok small very minuscule angst:

Alma doesn't like sitting in new towns no longer than a week at best, she's still a little traumatized from what happened so she doesn't like staying in places too long. She's a little afraid of that incident happening again.

dysfunctionally functioning au: Nobody dies but the afton kids have to learn to deal with their abusive household dynamic (important note! the abbreviation for the fic of this au is gbwwwg and stands for getting by with what we've got.)

Wizard's Quest au: Springtrap and William team up in ucn to escape while its in a fantasy type landscape

Michael's robots au: William, Henry, and Michael build the robots together following the deaths of michaels siblings. however not only does william has a lot of dark secrets, mcihael is learning a whole lot about his robot friends (like how. yk. theyre possessed)

Swap au: Exactly what it sounds like. Elizabeth is michael, michael is the puppet, evan is circus baby, charlie and sammy are golden duo, and theres other thigns im not getting into rn

Who wants to hear my Traveling Circus Ride the Cyclone AU? Nobody? Well I don’t care you’re hearing it anyway

I’m gonna call her Savannah here because a lot of people associate RTC Penny Lamb with Legoland Penny Lamb, and while that isn’t a bad thing at all, this version of her is. far from legoland. So I didn’t want them to get mixed up. lol.

A rough explanation of it is that the choir, instead of being a choir, are performers at a traveling show (Wonderville Traveling Circus) and Father Markus is Conductor Markus.

One day, little miss Savannah wakes up in the back of the traveling show train after a bad incident.

Not knowing how she got there, who she was, or who was looking for her, the choir (show performers in this case) take her in as “Circus Girl”.

Each place they travel to, ‘Circus Girl’ looks for who could be her parents in every audience. She looks for any town name that sounds familiar on every street sign. Nothing.

Eventually, they made it to Uranium,

To their luck, an incident occurred during one of their performances - they just get f_cking attacked by the show lion. That’s it. Circus Girl gets her head bitten off. (This also makes everyone 10x more terrified during her catchphrase)

Then the afterlife is basically the same. Their backstories would be a bit different, since they wouldn’t exactly go to school or have any other jobs.

..ig this au wouldn’t really work out because it wouldn’t have the same “I died in my stupid hometown” thing that regular RTC does,, but hey that’s why it’s called an “Alternate Universe” yk?

Oh and i had a question about, like, logistics of the reaper au!

Assuming there's a possible ending where reaper Mike dies and young Mike manages to live... do you think it would change things? Would it matter, in the end?

Or is Evan still fated to die at Mike’s hands, is Liz still fated to die, too? Is young Mike still fated to grow up and get scooped before ultimately dying while trying to kill his younger self? (Which is just... very, very sad and horrific in so many ways)

Because if none of these things happen, it could create a paradox; where would reaper Mike have come from if Evan and Liz never die, and Mike never gets scooped?

...Very good question.

Okay, so I like to think that Reaper Mike's mission is ultimately doomed to fail. Obviously he's never going to successfully erase his past self. But after a while, it's stopped being about 'making things right' and 'protecting Evan' and more about 'hurting (kid) Mike as much as possible,' so that doesn't really matter to him. At a certain point he just kind of stops being 'Michael Afton' and just becomes 'the Reaper.'

But Reaper Mike isn't the only one who's changed by the repeated loops. Even with the memories fragmented, young Mike is living out... weeks? Months? Hell, maybe even years in this loop. He's growing up, essentially, but without aging. I mean, of course his emotional and mental maturity is skewed because - [vague gesture at the blood-soaked death parade he's trapped in] - but after a certain number of loops he isn't quite the same person who would have thoughtlessly shoved his brother's head into moving machine parts. Especially not when he still has the broken images of Evan sobbing hysterically and begging the somebody to stop hurting his brother (the Reaper turning its fury onto Evan for daring to get between him and his target, past Mike throwing himself over Evan's little body in a vain attempt to at the very least save Evan's life, if not his own) floating around in his brain.

Can you tell I'm just word vomiting at this point? I kind of lost track of the original question.

I'm not 100% what this would mean for the Reaper Mike because with past Mike growing and changing, the Reaper would inevitably change as well. I like throwing characters up against forces or circumstances beyond their control, but I don't like saying things are just fated to happen. If things play out the same way again, it's because factors leading to those events are still the same. It might actually be that so long as Reaper Mike is stuck outside of his own time, he's largely unaffected by changes made to his past aside from some ripples in his memories. He was pretty shocked when his past self made choices he was certain he never would have made, such as seeking vengeance for Evan's sake after the loop where the Reaper killed them both. So scratch what I said above, past Mike is growing, while Reaper Mike stagnates, wallowing in his self-loathing.

#sorry I feel like this was more of an unanswer than an answer #I apologize if this is incoherent I typed with with a brain full of bees #but ultimately yeah I do think that things would change for Mike and his siblings #I wouldn't want the events of the time loop to just vanish once it's resolved #I want that whole thing to stick with past Mike even if he can only remember pieces of it #it might be that some events still play out the same way as the first time while others change #timelooped Mike wouldn't be jumping a the bit to torture Ev after all is said and done #but he would have no way of knowing to worry about Elizabeth at Circus Baby's unless Reaper said something #and that depends on how much he remembers bc if I recall correctly #serenefig's idea was that it was the face to face confrontations with his killer that Mike didn't remember (clearly or at all)? #but since he DOES retain some memories of these multiple loops #I want to say that even if he resolved the time loop and erased the Reaper who started it all #he'd still hold those memories #and therefore those years he spent fighting for his and his siblings' lives #maybe that would make him a tad protective of them and he'd be watching Liz close enough even without a direct warning from the future... #I should got to bed now my brain's melting #ask #lonelyfreddles #Paradoxical Reaper AU #time travel bullshit that probably makes no sense lmao

If I were to recall Koby appears in three of my aus :D The Pokemon one, The eldritch au, and the rehab au In the Pokemon au, during Luffy's times as a trainer's pokemon, one of his trainers had a friendly rival and the rival's pokemon was a shiny pawmi which was Koby, they're on pretty good terms y'know. I think the Rehab au is self-explanatory as to why Koby is there, Almost every character that Luffy met pre-reincarnation is there :)

As for The Eldritch au... Well Im a big fan of this certain character pairing, and well, you probably know

Oh I am SO GLAD somebody asked about it because I love the idea of it so much. I was actually gonna make a post about it but drafted and forgot abt it, so I'll copy the tags that I'd put there and just use it to answer this ask.

I've considered Gisu for Constance bc??? Part of me said Sam but I feel like Sam is too chaotic for Constance. She wouldn't be scared of Frazie in the way that Constance was kinda scared of Jane. I honestly don't know who to pick for Ricky? He has a very specific sort of vibe to him and I wanna pick the perfect kid for that role.

I honestly don't know WHAT compelled me to pick Augustus for the role of Karnak, but idk, the vibe of just this human circus ringleader who is the father of two of the deceased children really rocks compared to just making up some random animatronic. I've *also* considered Truman, but I feel like Augustus fits better honestly.
