Wish and The Power of Word of Mouth
So, Wish drops tomorrow on Disney+ for those of you who have not heard already. And if I am being honest, I do not expect it to make that much of an impact, but I do hope that those who haven't seen the movie yet give the movie a chance as well as discuss the movie and its deleted scenes and scrapped concepts more. This goes especially for those who are making the animatics, re-writes, fan art or other form of fandom related to Wish, GIVE THE MOVIE A CHANCE BEFORE MAKING YOUR ART!
Do you want Disney or anyone that worked on Wish to talk about Star's human design and what that relationship to Asha would have been like, or what the villain couple would have been like or to go more into detail about any of the concept art we have seen and been inspired by? TALK ABOUT IT!
if you want to see Disney explore the world of Wish more and maybe we can get some of those concepts that never made it to the movie? DISCUSS THOSE CONCEPTS ONLINE!
Do you want more people to know that Wish was not the terrible mess that people online made it out to be? TALK ABOUT IT, SHARE THOSE FEELINGS!
The power of word of mouth cannot be understated. The more people that share art, re-writes, animatics or whatever form of content related to Wish and its concepts and ideas, the more that shows Disney that there is a passionate audience behind these ideas and maybe something can happen, though it may take a while (just look at the Tron franchise)
Share your feelings about Disney not utilizing these concepts. Make fanarts, animatics, re-writes, or WHATEVER YOU WANT WITH THOSE CONCEPTS! Because someone could see that art and be inspired to make their own or tell their story about why this movie changed so much in production.
If we don't stay or share anything, then this movie and this fandom WILL BE FORGOTTEN! And for a movie that is supposed to represent 100 years of one of the most influential studios in not only animation but film in general, to be tossed aside and forgotten is a horrible thing.
It has been great to read all the re-writes and see all the fanart of Asha and Star, and I hope we get some more and especially from some new voices.

Why Alan couldn’t cut it-
I’m not beating the “is obsessed with the 82’ novelization accusations, this is my 5th time reading it. In my defense it’s great and adds a lot of detail, anyways.
The way it talks about Alan and his morals really struck me. They put him into a great contrast with Dillinger and even Flynn, who ultimately does good but is a bit looser when it comes to following rules. The paragraph says it better than I’m going to but his decision to go along with the break in plan comes simply because he feels what’s happening at ENCOM is wrong. Someone has to do something, Alan waits before acting himself sees if anyone attacks from a legal Avenue. A “someone will” attitude, because he has so much faith in others that he knows it’s not just him who will see a issue and want to do something about it. Not him but someone will… unfortunately we don’t live in a world with many “doers”. His decision to go along with the break in is a spur of the moment, he’s struck with sympathy for Flynn and his already existent frustration and sense of wrong. It’s probably one of the first times he doesn’t talk himself into backing down.
Alan is a good man. A honest man and a hard worker who’s faith in others is a bit higher than they deserve. He’s a rarity! A honest, rule following businessman. That’s why he could never last at the top of ENCOM, in “the last day” short film and likely the Flynn lives campaign there’s a brief mention of Alan being a Temp CEO while Flynn was missing. This was a very brief period in the 90s that quickly saw him pushed back down onto the board and basically being expected to shut up. Almost a quite firing. He’s not cut out for the cutthroat corporate game - he’s good at deals and explaining what they do but that only gets you so far… I can also see why from a talk perspective. In the Paranoids online mini video he absolutely flounders until Lora swoops in to save him. He’s not exactly Flashy Kevin flynn who could go “woof” into the mic and make the crowd go wild.
Additionally I love how much this puts him into contrast with Tron. For all the things that make Alan weak in the business world are what make Tron the admirable chosen warrior, the noble hero, within the grid. Here all of the best aspects of Alan are commemorated. That honesty, faith and stalwart behavior are better suited for the mythical other world of fairytale endings. Good conquers evil, the MCP explodes and the end. In the real world? Good luck, good guys can’t seem to win anymore.

This isn't just for Tron fanart or OCs tho. I don't care about what your fandom or crossover, or original ideas aka whatever you can come up with is. Anything goes here. All I ask for is a somewhat clear reference of the character you want and we're good.
The only things I don't draw are sexual and political stuff. Let's keep it lighthearted and fun, yea? If we ever come across something I am unable to draw for some reason or another I'll let you know beforehand and we can try to find a solution.

Gosh I Need Movies Like "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves"!
Frankly, I'm still a bit surprised by how much I love "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves". I mean, I was very much looking forward to the movie because everything about it just felt right, and I even noticed some fear of disappointment when finally entering the cinema. But it did not disappoint. Gosh, how it did not disappoint.
There's so much for me to love about this movie. To name just three things, it has
a marvelously told story (the exposition was quite nice, but the escape from Revel's End prison really set the stage for that hell of a ride which followed),
a very inspired cast playing absolutely dashing characters (I now have a crush on at least two of the main characters! 😅), and
visual effects and set designs with creativity and attention to detail that I have not seen in what feels like an eternity (the very first shot of Neverwinter already made me want to see this city in all its lovely details).
So yes, I left the cinema as overwhelmed and enthusiastic as I had hoped to be. And much to my personal joy you guys here at Tumblr opened up just another level on which this lovely little movie could excel: I have never played "Dungeons and Dragons" (I know a lot about the mechanics and lore thanks to "Munchkin", though 😅), so reading about how much the movie feels like a true DnD session was very insightful, and it even made me see some of its flaws in a new light.
And then it struck me: "Honor Among Thieves" is that very rare type of movie that I really, really need from time to time. A true feel-good movie whose production process brought people together to tell a special story that usually has already been around in some form before. A fantastic, entertaining tale that can be enjoyed - and I cannot stress enough how important that is - utterly unironically and unapologetically.
The first movie of this type that I remember watching is "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" from 2004, and it has been one of my absolute favorites for a long, long, time. So much energy, and so much fun! But there are more. I'm talking about movies like "The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy" (2005), "The Men Who Stare at Goats" (2009), "Tron: Legacy" (2010), "Real Steel" (2011), "John Carter" (2012), and "Booksmart" (2019). Yeah, that kinda was an advertisement for films I still have a crush on. Sorry not sorry.
The downside of this type of movie, because of course there's a downside: They only seldom make a profit. And "Honor Among Thieves" is not an exception to this rule, having grossed about 125 Million USD worldwide at the box office so far, while costing roughly 150 Million. But you know what? That's fine. Big Hollywood studios regularly make a fortune with mainstream blockbuster stuff that I don't even care to remember after I skipped the advertisement promoting it, so it's only fair for them to make a monetarily stupid decision from time to time that will make me oh so happy.
So, long story short: As long as studios like Paramount Pictures keep making marvellous darlings of a potential (or actual) flop like "Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves", I will not even begin to begrudge the obscene amounts of money they get from too-big-to-fail box office hits like "Top Gun: Maverick".

For the ask game!! 1, 9, 17, 23, 24!
1) When did I discover Good Omens: I knew about the book from way back when it was new, and I knew about the TV series when it first came out, but I didn't really know anything in detail about it until back in the summer, when season 2 was being talked about. My oldest kiddo said, "Mom, you should watch this. I think you'll really like it." Um, yeah, to say the least. We watched season 1 together, and I was pretty much instantly hooked. When season 2 came out a few weeks later, I watched it all immediately, and I've been obsessed ever since.
9) What else have I seen with David Tennant/Michael Sheen: I've seen all of modern Doctor Who, so I've seen all of David's episodes as Ten and as Fourteen. I've watched his Much Ado About Nothing (and have a couple other Shakespeare plays on my to-watch list.) I've seen Michael Sheen in Tron Legacy, his recent episode of The Assembly. And I've seen them both in Staged. There might be more I'm missing.
17) Favorite husband-y moment: Hmm. I think the paintball stain removal. It's so flirty, so cute, they both make pouty faces. Excellent stuff. (On my very first watch, that might have been the first time (of many) that I went, "Oh, my god, they're so stinkin' cute!")
23) Good Omens headcanon that I consider canon: demisexual Crowley is my most fiercely beloved headcanon
24) Season 3 theory I need: more 1941! I adore that era, and I want them to dance or kiss or hug or fight the Nazi zombies again or anything! (Or everything.)

Some complex thoughts about OCs in fanfic
So... I recently finished and posted a story in 3 parts, about Ram and Tron and Yori going out to a club together and having a threesome.
(because I love them and want them all happy, ok)
and... I was exploring a bunch of things in this story.
including:
Tron and Ram and Yori, a study of them as characters, their pasts, their motivations, their relationships (love 'em, ok, want to study every detail of them & their love)
Details of things in that world-- identity discs, the different ways programs charge on energy, what sorts of control the MCP exerted and how stuff changed when that control went away (I love the world, wanna figure out answers to all my questions bout how it works)
And, finally... other programs, other characters and how they fit in with the Main Three that I'm writing about.
So this involved me getting creative, both with worldbuilding, and with populating that world.
This called for some background OCs.
First I had Ram and Tron and Yori enter the club and take in the scene, the crowd of strangers. Overview of what this looked like; brief descriptions of these background extras and what they were doing.
And then they get to their table and sit down, and Yori starts making conversation with some programs at the next table-- who she knows from work, in the laser bay.
These include Voca, a text-to-speech program who works as an announcer... Mag and Iox who work with Yori on the laser... and Rollo_3.77 who's the record-keeping software in the laser bay.
So right from the start I've populated this whole setting with a bunch of characters I straight-up invented.
Except... I didn't.
Not even the extras in the crowd. One of them, at least, I described very recognizably as The Bead-Curtain Program, canonically encountered in the hallway while Tron and Yori were on their way to the Tower:
As for Voca... of course there's an automated voice making announcements in the laser bay! We heard her!
And yeah, one interpretation is that this is a live announcer, or some human who pre-recorded a bunch of announcements that play automatically at the proper times. The voice is too lifelike to be a typical synthesized computer voice in the 80's.
BUT, we know Encom had a bunch of technology far more advanced than what was publicly known in the 80's (MCP? this laser bay itself?) So, why not an unusually advanced text-to-speech program as well?
(She's got a pretty distinctive voice too; almost mistakable for The Majel-Barret-Voice Computer in Star Trek TNG. One thing that really suggests to me that she's a program: I'm pretty sure she's also the same voice who called out for "Program Aloo" in the Solar Sailer Dock.)
In my story, Voca the text-to-speech program is the main speaking character of the table that Yori's chatting with. But her companions Mag and Iox are also inspired by a scene from the laser bay:
Two programs' names are known to appear on the screen when the orange gets digitized. Yori, of course, in the lower right corner. And MCP, in the upper left.
It's entirely possible that the additional text above MCP is just indicating the orange is "magnified ten times."
But I can do whatever I want forever, so I decided it's the names of two other programs that work in the laser bay.
Now, as for Rollo_3.77.
I described him only as a program in warrior armor, introduced as the record-keeping software from the laser bay. He's quiet, seeming stiff and uncomfortable, especially when Yori mentions Ram's heroically strong resistance to the MCP's conversion tactics.
You'd only guess who he is from my other story.
The one about RedGuard_3.77. About the despair that wore down his User-belief until he caved, about his rectification into an elite red warrior... and his life-changing experience with Tron and Flynn, and how it finally drove him to question his loyalty to the MCP and take one final act of passive rebellion that might just have helped turn the tide in the favor of the good guys.
Of course he's having trouble adapting to being a blue-circuited record-keeping program again.
(With how hard he struggled to write a report for the MCP in that other story, I thought it would be kind of cruelly fitting to imagine him designed for laser-bay record-keeping. His name comes from Rolodex.)
So... this is my long-winded messy way of saying-- there's so many gradients between "canon character" and "totally made-up OC." Have fun. Explore all of them.

relationship status: Married + poly!
current obsession: My garden! I've built new raised beds and terraces out of reclaimed wood. Got a few frost-hardy plants in the ground already, and have all the rest of my seeds germinating indoors. Goal: to grow so much basil I offend the sight of god.
Other than that? I'm reading a new translation of Stanislavski's An Actor's Work. So inspiring. It's been nice getting back into an academic mindframe in regards to art. Soul-comforting to read others talk through the process in such detail.

Vetrix has always been very gay to me. I always see people with these headcanons of him having a wife or smth but honestly I CANNOT see him with a woman. He’s very unashamedly a boykisser. His kids are all test tube babies, he’d sooner de-transition than willingly sleep with a woman.
He gets kind of weird around woman, kind of a mysognist because of internalized transphobia he needs to get over. Doesn’t excuse it but he’s trying </3
And technically not a sexuality hc but he’s very transmasc to me (or agender, depends on how I feel)! He uses He/They/It/Xe + Neos because why the fuck not. I like headcanoning old men as trans!! Just come and stop me >:3

5. Favourite Ship
Fathershipping, undoubtably. I know Most sub Fans are crazy about scientistshipping (which I do ship, to a lesser scale) but I find Fathershipping cuter. It’s funnier because the dub leans farther into Fathershipping and the sub leans more into scientistshipping. For context in episode 55, when Byron and Kazuma sit by the fire he makes a comment about faker being a good friend, but in the dub it’s changed so that Kazuma talks about how much of a good friend Byron is or smth to that effect. Funny detail I noticed :3
Like. Byron literally ASKS Kazuma to let him go into the portal (where he could’ve presumably died) because he wanted him to be safe instead of him. It takes SO MUCH to want to die for someone. There were also two tents in episode 55. THEY ARE LITERALLY IMPLIED TO HAVE SLEPT TOGETHER AUGHHH
I could go on a bigger tangent in another post (which I’m sure I have), but I just think their sweet.
Also I Hope I don’t get in trouble for this but their dynamic post-Barian world/astral world is just that one image of a hamster trying to eat a whole banana. Yes im implying what you think I am. Don’t ask
23. Future Headcanon
You know how Vetrix wasn’t reverted back to his original body? And how he’s just this stupid little baby man who has to go through puberty again? Yeah. He grows up into the most INSUFFERABLE (albeit like 50 year old) teenager, starts listening to Linkin Park and finally gets his drivers license for like the second time. He’s still very boykisser tho!! Tbh it’s only really exacerbated because hormones
28. The most unnecessary thing they did?
The whole possessing Shark thing. As much as I think him gaslighting Shark into thinking the evil homophobic rat killed his sister, what was the point lol. Like he could’ve stopped faker without Shark either way??
Also on another point but I have an issue with how Zexal villains are just treated as borderline evil until their redeemed and just do nothing of substance again. Vetrix is one of the worst cases of this. I could go off about this more in another post if asked.

- cold open shows Shaw the scientist, who comes off as the typical misguided evil scientist type. possibly trying out his invention on himself, given his reaction when Beck tries to save him?? He’s an interesting one-scene character, if a little one-note.
- speaking of Beck: kiddo seems pretty upset that he couldn’t save Shaw. Beck’s humanity towards even his enemies has been pretty well established at this point, but I like that he does fail sometimes to save and or spare people (see also the Black Guard from ep1)
- meanwhile in the B plot: Bartik and Hopper are harassing Zed again, with Mara not taking their guff. Also Zed’s crush is showing again, poor guy. Pulling from later in the episode, I am still fucking BOGGLED that Bartik here and Bartik in Legacy are the same fucking guy!!! How do you go from collaborating with the fascist regime to……. leading an uprising faction against it???? Like HOLY SHIT. Forget Beck; I wanna know what the arc of Bartik’s story is!!!!!!!
- back at Tron’s place: infodump about what the disc add on does, Beck works at a place with a thing that can destroy it, etc. that said: “when are you ever not serious?” OOH BURN NICELY DONE BECK. Also it’s fucking true; Tron is The Grid’s Biggest Grump. Still love him tho…..
- and then, because Beck has a Saving People Thing, he falls right in the middle of Paige’s trap and has to use the weapon to get out and this is why I don’t like this episode!!! I do not like amped up, cocky Beck one fucking bit. I had an epiphany later in the episode, this ep is basically the Spider-Man 3 plot condensed into 22 mins and Beck is basically Symbiote Peter here and I Do Not Like It. I get it, I do, but I really don’t enjoy it at all.
- back at the B plot, it’s nice to see Beck actually like. Interacting with his friends for once. Less nice that it’s under these circumstances (with the shitty personality nonsense), but yeah.
- And then Beck, who is not a great decision maker in the best of times, decides to go and make EVEN WORSE DECISIONS. WHY DID YOU THINK THROWING DOWN WITH TESLER WAS A GOOD IDEA, HON?????????? UGHHHHHHHH
- nice to see Beck snap out of it when Able gets hurt, at least. Kiddo does still have his principles, if nothing else. Also Able recognizing Beck as Tron is interesting as fuck and I hope it is explored more. And then later Zed’s comment about the Renegade: “he’s a menace!!” Which made me think of J. Jonah Jameson and make that Spider-man connection up there and I kinda want a meme or something of that Idk
- back at Tron’s place: THE GIRLS ARE FIGHTINGGGGGGGGGG
- Tron alluding to Beck’s mental as well as physical strength interests me, given the details I have seen about Cyrus (no spoilers here plz, I only watched up to Cyrus’ intro episode 10 years ago, soooo….). And for all that he is a Certified Grump, Tron does seem to care about Beck’s well-being in a prickly, distant parent kind of way, so it’s nice for him to express that belief that Beck will do the right thing.
- meanwhile the ongoing pissing contest between Pavel and Paige continues!! Those two guys, I swear. And then Pavel gets hold of the weapon and is even more insufferable than usual with it, because of course he is. The fight between him and Beck has great music at least, I’ll give it that. Also love that Beck gets it and destroys it instead of keeping it for himself; good strength of character stuff.
- meanwhile: EYYYY ZED DID A GOOD WITH MARA BUT SHE WAS UNCONSCIOUS BUT BECK DID ZED A SOLID (AND OPE BECK DON’T BLOW YOUR FRICKIN COVER MY DUDE)
- and then the coda: the weapon is self-repairing!!! EEK FUCK DAMN. That ain’t fucking good, given that Pavel has it. (And given that Beck has the other half…….) also my theory when I first watched this episode 10 years ago is that that weapon was incorporated into Tron when Clu turns him into Rinzler?? Just because of the harsh gravelly effect it has on the program’s voice, and the enhanced strength and agility it gives. No idea if it’s what actually happens, but. It is a theory.
May or may not watch the next episode tonight; it’s 9:30 and I’m tired and wide awake at the same time so Who Knows!!!!

Everybody Wins and/or Loses Drabble Challenges
At long last. So! The goal here is to entice me to fail. I intend to meet every request with a traditional 100 words. That way no one will feel bad about double- or triple-dipping if they'd like (or more; I SEE YOU--). If I just have to write more than 100 words... well, I fail but also we'll be very unclear about who actually wins depending on the content of the extended drabble. ETA on finished drabbles: uh... “when they’re done”. ...Yeah, I know. May work on them between All the Other Things, or celebrate finishing something with a week off to write. We shall find out together. Before the end of the year, okay.
I'm willing to write damn near anything. Because this is fiction and I'm asking for challenges/requests. If I'm actually uncomfortable, I just... won't write it, or will find a way to work around it. I've kind of written enough elaborate violent mindfucks to mind very few things, however. Plus, I mean. ...Look at the fandom list. I done been here a while. The MCP | Power, corruption and what Freedom means in a computer system
This is a combination of what was initially two separate essays. The first part is going to be diving into how programs see freedom and the second part is going to go into the absolutely terrifying implications of the MCP from a in-system perspective. He’s a lot darker than what’s on the surface and it’s a shame this gets overlooked along with most of the movie because it’s a tad more optimistic in tone.
Freedom in subservience-
Programs exist to serve their function. They “just keep doin' what it looks like what you're supposed to be doin', no matter how crazy it seems.” Living, working, communicating for the users in a way that we as humans would see as Subservient or cruel. To a program being used, being useful is Freedom. To not work is to die. If you were created for the soul purpose of a task and then one day couldn’t do it anymore the blow would be devastating. The way Ram speaks with so much pride about his work and how much he misses it. The way it breaks Crom In the novelization when the guards don’t believe in the users.
“All programs have a desire to be useful, but in moments you will no longer seek communication with eachother or your superpfolus users…”
The MCP says it outright that they’re basically hardwired to want to be useful and do their best. And within the religious system they don’t see Users as these cruel gods but more of a partnership. They aren’t aware we dont know their alive, their communication with us is far more complex and symbolic than our communication with them. In the real world there’s a few words in a screen but in theirs they’ll get a detailed talk with their user, even if it’s a bit one sided. (Example being how trons ecstatic to talk with Alan and is all ‘im here yippee!’ But Alan never responds to anything he says). It’s a complex society with a social structure and religious system and customs! Dumont’s speech and how Tron and Yori bow their heads as he gives it. There’s so much good- just religious allegory and system stuff in general that I’d love to dig into if there was time and it’s such a shame it’s not in more Tron media post 82’.
“This code disc means freedom”
Let’s return to “to not work is to die” shall we? This is a civilization built around communication with the users and each other. A society built around fulfilling your purpose. What’s that look like when it’s taken away? This is a system where all functions are stripped from everyday programs and now are preformed by the MCP now what? If you aren’t dead you’re apart of the red elite severed from the users where your only real task is to protect it and eliminate believers— sure there’s power but that’s not very fulfilling once nothing else is left, is it?
Superior life form/ MCP’s lesser spoken on crimes-
Have you ever taken a second and really thought about the end goal of the master control program? He wants absolute power and his way of getting that is by being the only Program/AI- becoming a User within itself. It absorbs or eliminates. Ram explained it perfectly but no one listened “If he thinks you’re useful he takes over all your functions so he gets bigger, and if he can’t use you he sends you down here to the game grid to get the bits blasted out of you.” The  identity discs are a great control method but also useful- they don’t need a body just the disc. In the end he gets your functions regardless. It doesn’t matter if you hold onto your beliefs or not, you will become a part of him in the end.
Here’s just a collection of things the MCP has done that make it absolutely terrifying and all the more pressing why Tron had to win:
The super computer hivemind end goal. Seriously absorbing programs and picking them apart for what’s “useful” is fucked up.
Religious persecution/severing people from pivotal aspect of their existence but shutting down communication.
Mass Kidnapping
Military sabotage/attempted world domination
Systematic execution -> let’s be real the MCP had enough power and programs behind him at this point he likely could’ve just derezzed or absorbed user believers but this is more fun and efficient.
Identity discs (see above)
Implied restriction on circuitry. The Red v blue, there’s a Implication there colors were changed to make both groups easier to identify as well as a restriction on how one looks regardless. Like forced uniform v true form thing
Canonical lack of privacy, street and air patrolling , no doors
Draining cities of energy, cutting them off to die. This is where Yori was found one of the cities that will eventually just- derezz or be taken over. They’re running on fumes and down to base functions (automation, no life/personality speaking in numbers etc.)
Keeping select few around as zombies to run things it can’t yet. This would also play into the hivemind thing where the end goal is to run it on his own or take them over puppet style.
Keeping a few chosen warriors that you know he’s going to get rid of the moment he wins. That deception and turning on your own people all for power and safety that it let them believe in that was never there
Having his lead officer addicted and souly reliant on the excess power given to him. The only reason he doesn’t immediently derez after Tron’s hit is because of how much is pumped into him.

Angstpril Day Twenty-Eight: Loss
“What was he like?” Yori asks. Her hand is laced with his, pinning him in place. Tron cannot pull away.
He finally told her about Cyrus. That there was another program like Beck—another program they had shared code with.
Had , because he derezzed long before she ever got to meet him.
Now she wants to know about her son.
“He was like you,” Tron says, quietly. “Kind. Gentle. Brave. He risked his life to save me from Clu. I wouldn’t be here if not for him.”
All of that was true, at least in the beginning. It’s not something he admits often enough, especially to himself.
“He was gifted. He could make things—alter things. He was a fast learner. Sometimes he was too smart for his own good.” He squeezes her hand. [ Sound familiar? ]
At times the beta had reminded him so much of Yori that it hurt.
No matter how bleak things got, he never lost his sense of humor, even if it turned grim to match. The way he grumbled to himself while he worked, threatening and coaxing his projects in turns, was painfully familiar. So was the way he paced when he was nervous or lost in thought—sometimes up the walls or across the ceiling. At the time, Tron had only known one other program who was capable of that.
Yori smiles a little, ducking her head. He can see the tears in her eyes.
She already knows this story doesn’t have a happy ending. He’s just unsure how detailed he should make his retelling.
“He was also broken,” Tron says. It’s too crude a descriptor, but in the moment he can’t think of a better one. “He was corrupted, before he found me. It only got worse over time. I didn’t realize what was happening until it was already too late.”
He stalls. Maybe he should plead for her forgiveness; she’s certainly smart enough to read between the lines.
But he’s not the one he finds himself defending.
“He wasn’t himself at the end. It wasn’t his fault.”
“I know,” she says, far too forgiving. “It wasn’t yours, either.”

That fic is We Are Pilots btw.
3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?
I... want to say that character studies of characters with chlidhood-era trauma tend to show up 99.99% of the time? I want to say this is because of the characters I choose to write in the fandoms I choose to exist in, but I gave my nonmagical Trevelyan Inquisitor childhood trauma to explain pretty much all of his actions/choices and to also explore some thoughts on immigrant families and diaspora.
I am also painfully predictable about gift-giving and service as love languages and favors, like. I even bought a freaking Jedi holocron from Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities at Galaxy's Edge because the dang boxes keep showing up around my canon-adjacent dinluke fics.
Also, Yearning™. That sweet, sweet Yearning™, even in established relationships.
12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?
Aw man, I think this question would have had an actual answer 10 years ago. By now, I'm pretty comfortable knowing which tropes I like and what tropes I actively avoid, and there is a huuuuuuuuuuge divide between them. It's going to take a lot to build a bridge between them.

OUAT Thoughts Pt.72--Episodes 15-16
I have watched through S7E16; spoilers DNI. Also, spoiler warning for anyone further behind than I am.
—Flynn’s Barcade. Love me a TRON reference. Those movies were brilliant.
—Also, now I know that Hook apparently plays pinball.
—Woulda been funny if Rumple had the high score on Galaga. Can I really see him playing video games? Probably not. Would it be funny anyway? Yes, yes it would.
—I adore Drizella’s fashion sense. She’s very chic. The miniskirts are fun, and they’ve got cute patterns and different textures. And I love how she wears black tights and black shoes together, it looks great.
—I don’t think I really believe that she could fend off a killer like that, but as long as she and her sister get to be together in another world I can excuse the bogusness that got them there.
—Zelena’s last name being West in Hyperion Heights is almost as stupid as Belle’s last name being French.
—The second episode 15 ended, I galaxy-brained and realized that Nick/Jack was Hansel. I’m glad I’m finally getting back my intuitive touch—I should hate for it to be predictable, but I feel honestly brilliant whenever I accurately forecast a plot twist in this show.
—Having a piratey adventure was fun. Even if most of it was fake. Also, it was really considerate of Hook to set up that entire venture just to help Henry find a ring he thought was worthy of Cinderella. I didn’t think about it before, but it must be hard for him to be compared to original Hook. He’s a good guy in his own right, though, and it’s about time Henry figured that out.
—Hook is totally gorgeous with his hair all wet and sticking to his face. Storms look good on him.
—Considering Davy Jones was a pirate, wouldn’t it be fun if Hook was like a long-lost legacy of his?
—Rumple telling Henry that Henry Mills was his favorite character in the book was sweet. Sad, too, because he had to skirt the truth, but he was still trying to bolster his grandson’s spirits, but it was terribly sweet.
—Actually, it’s really sad how so many people have to keep the truth from the others around them. Regina can’t talk to Henry mother-to-son. Zelena can’t tell Robin the truth, even though it’s hurting their relationship. (At least they know they’re mother and daughter, though. That’s a bonus.) Even Lucy has to keep secrets from her mom and dad, despite the fact that she’s trying to either get them together or keep them apart. And Rumple has to withhold the truth from Henry, *and* he knows that Alice is Hook’s daughter and he can’t tell, even if he does try to help their relationship along.
—Rumple gluing the teacup back together made me sad.
—It’s hilarious that Hook made Alice get a job because she ate everything in his fridge.
—The string of lights in Tiana’s food truck being chili-shaped is awesome. I wonder where, if at all, one could find those fr?
—Alice is adorable. I love the way she pronounces beignets. You know what, I don’t have all the details on their relationship before the curse, but it would just slap if Alice and Robin broke the curse with True Love’s Kiss.
—Gosh, Rumple’s even kinda got the bi sitting thing down.
—I love that Rumple is committed to being good now, even with Belle gone. That light in him is beautiful.
—See, it’s nice to see Regina being happy in her relationship with Dr. Facilier, but I don’t even trust him as far as I can throw him, and honeys that ain’t far.
—I want neither Henry nor Zelena to kick the bucket. That would be 0/10, not at all cool.
—Regina was wearing a real gorgeous pair of magenta boots. I like about half of her new wardrobe, and those boots totally make the list.
—Maybe Henry and Cinderella should stop focusing so much on whether or not the signs are telling them to be together, and instead take a good long think about why they want the signs so desperately. I mean, I love soulmates and destiny and that kind of stuff, but sometimes you have to get off your keister and get it done yourself.
—Pardon me for saying it, but this season has got me feeling some kind of way about Hook and Rumple. A shipping kind of way, if you catch my drift. I don’t care if it’s a popular opinion or an unpopular one, but their dynamic is pretty different in this season, what with Rumple being good and Hook not remembering that he hated Rumple back in the day, and they’ve got some tension but they also get along pretty well....Idk, if you don’t like it, then feel free to ignore this particular opinion, because it’s only one of many I have and it’s not exactly the kind of hill I want to die on, but I do find myself enjoying this new perspective.
Little off-topic, but today I watched episodes of 7th Heaven and ER with Raphael Sbarge (Dr. Hopper) in them, and boy am I living. He’s just been cute his whole goshdarn life, hasn’t he! (Tho it kinda threw me for a loop the first time I saw him without glasses.) I’ve gotta find a way to watch Star Trek: Voyager, because he’s in like five episodes of that, and I just adore him. And, as an added bonus, the episode of ER that came on after the one with Raphael Sbarge had Eion Bailey (August/Pinocchio) in it, which is yes.
Also, I’m annoyed at Prime Video, because I would love to watch The Full Monty (my mom even said she would watch it with me) but it’s only available for pay. It bothers me how we pay for streaming services, in order to get access to a whole load of stuff, and then there’s still stuff locked behind a paywall. I guess it’s a better business model, but still. And yes, I would be watching that movie for Robert Carlyle and Robert Carlyle only.
