Hailing from a small village on the southern coast of the Queendom of Roses, Jonathan Vyce is unremarkable. He abides by the rules, one of the best of the best, and an overall goody two-shoes. Aside from being the Secretary of Noble Bell College's student council, (which, noticeably, only contains non-mages) there's not really much you can get from him. ...Unless?

The Night-Rider is a ruthless masked vigilante, fighting against crimes which terrorize this specific village, and that alone. He's a bogeyman of some sorts, appears when you least expect it, scares the hell out of you, then disappears into the night, riding his faithful steed Paimon. Surprisingly, he's been showing up in the City of Flowers a lot more often alongside his usual locale. Nothing to worry about, I guess.

Unique Magic:

...Hm? He isn't a mage. What gave you that idea?

"Like a Demon Ghost" Allows him and other objects/entities in physical contact with him to disappear into a dark mist for up to a few minutes. It's much more effective with the constant foggy weather of his home. In other words, it's a ~ magic smoke bomb ~

Relationships:

Rollo - His boss. Jonathan is kinda mousy around him, knowing the kind of person he is. But of course, all of that is an act. He worries about him sometimes.

Phineas - His second boss/co-worker. Jonathan shows great worry towards him despite everything.

Yuri - Shows respect towards him as a fellow costumed vigilante.

Tiny Tidbits:

A firm believer of "Support Your Local Businesses". For that reason, he often visits shops he's never been to, like ones that have been overlooked, or don't get enough traffic.

His life at home is complicated. Jonathan was raised by a single father who used to be the vicar of the village, but due to complications, couldn't spend time with his son half his life. Instead, Jonathan was put into the capable hands of Mr. Pim, a close friend of his father's. Everything came to a standstill when he turned 16, when his father was murdered in a convoluted incident. Mr. Pim became his sole guardian after that.

Often helps out at the school infirmary, leading him to be called "the good doctor" by some of the students.

As far as he knows, Jonathan is the last of the Vyce family. His father did mention ONCE that he had a brother, but his status is unknown.

You wouldn't expect it from a guy like him, but he's VERY romantic. If he ever fell in love, he'd do anything for his beloved. Even if it means sailing the seven seas in the event they were taken away by some lunatic.

A HUGE fan of a boy band and he's shameless about it. Jonathan has amassed hundreds of lore regarding The Voltures, rising stars in the music industry that started out with acapella covers and later broke out into other genres.

Feels nothing but contempt towards the vigilante called the Night-Rider. His methods of justice are violent, how can anyone admire him? I guess there's something reasonable about ridding the world of corrupt officials... It's odd that he took inspiration from a local legend from the same village Jonathan hails from. That might just be a coincidence. ...Or is it?

Monday, April 12: Volture, “Heat Seeker”

The sudden abundance of bands playing deliberate throwbacks to traditional ‘80s metal was strange enough, but what made it a little more interesting was how many of these groups consisted of guys known for much harsher material. Such was certainly the case with Volture, given that its founders came from Municipal Waste and Cannabis Corpse, but “Heat Seeker” was a catchy and fun banger that lived up to its name. To be sure, it was clearly pastiche, as was the rest of On the Edge, but it was clear that the only intention was to have fun playing heavy metal music, and that radiated out of every note. Its ambitions were slight, but “Heat Seeker” did its job well.

After two demos in the 1980s and early 1990s, the classic debut ´Tales From The Darkside´ (1999) and its successor ´The Beast Inside´ (2007) concluded a glorious band phase. Now the only remaining original member, drummer Rudo Plooy, has returned with a new team and a new long player named ‘Road To Victory’. Guitarist Gert Jan Vis (3RD MACHINE) was already involved in the nineties and bassist Ron Heikens (PROFOUND) has been with the band for a number of years too. Guitarist Ruben Raadschelders and Singer David Marcelis (LORD VOLTURE, THORIUM), on the other hand, joined more recently in 2017. And what did BLACK KNIGHT produce in the studio? Is it bad i only follow the band on insta and not bruno i only followed the band because i thought he was a culture volture now but now 3 years later i dont follow him mainly because everything he post im just going to see everywhere else posted on somebody else's page 😂😂

That's why i don't understand why people follow his wack ass hoe. They say they follow her to see the pics she posts of Bruno but everybody knows damn well sooner or later that same pic is gonna be up everywhere of him online. So i never really believed they JUST followed her to see pics of him. She's probably like their guilty pleasure or low key fans idk. Thats also why i don't follow Bruno on anything. He followed me before i followed him 💀

About enzo’s tattoos : Enzo has on his lower back Hayley and jack forever and he got it to celebrate the bands second album. The photos were on the bands website Enzo wanted to prove his devotion to the band by getting the tattoo of Hayley and Jack but it was another part of his plan that only made Jack think that he was weird for having that tattoo on his lower back. Louisiana Black Metal Musician Arrested For Multiple Church Burnings

A young black metal musician, Holden Matthews, has been arrested in connection with a string of church burnings.

Last summer, Matthews started his own metal band, the VODKA VOLTURES, although they don’t seem to have released any music yet.

Matthews, 21, is the son of a St. Landry Parish sheriff’s deputy, and he was booked in to St. Landry Parish jail at about 5:30 Wednesday evening.…

87 discos #HechosEnIberoamérica para recordar al 2018

Iberoamérica: conjunto formado por los países del continente americano que, en el pasado, fueron colonias de los reinos de Portugal y España. La expresión fue creada a partir de dos términos: Iberia (la península ibérica, ocupada en su mayoría por los dos países europeos ya mencionados) y América.

Por segundo año consecutivo, llegamos a la conclusión en El Soundcheck que es mucha la música que se produce en Iberoamérica, mucha la que escuchamos y hasta mucha, la que nos quedamos sin escuchar. Sin embargo, eso no es impedimento para que, aprovechando las fiestas y el breve descanso que nos damos, previo a la quinta temporada, les compartamos este recuento de discos (sin orden específico, más que el de sus países de origen) que vieron la luz en 2018.

España

Mucho pop y hip-hop tuvo su espacio en 2018 y en El Soundcheck tuvimos oportunidad de conocer, de primera mano, “La Reina Pez”, el más reciente trabajo de Vega, una de las cantautoras independientes más destacadas y provenientes de “la madre patria”. También, fue el año de Rosalía, quien con su disco debut, se convirtió en la española con más premios Grammy Latinos por un único trabajo. Sin embargo, este año no se limitó a la producción de estos 2 trabajos en España, por lo que también destacamos y recomendamos escuchar a:

Estados Unidos

Para el mes de junio de este año, la población hispana en los Estados Unidos había alcanzado la cifra récord de 58.9 millones de personas, principalmente debido a lo que llaman el aumento natural (hispanos nacidos en los E.E.U.U.). También, los hispanos en los Estados Unidos, tomaron este año un papel crucial en el senado estadounidense, con la espera de que esta histórica “minoría” (que no es ninguna minoría, a decir verdad), tenga más peso en cuanto a las decisiones que se tomen por el beneficio de todos los ciudadanos estadounidenses.

En este pequeño apartado, reconocemos 2 álbumes, al menos, de los que se produjeron durante este año por bandas con fusiones hispanas entre las nacionalidades de sus integrantes:

En 2018, Spotify reconoció a México y, en específico a la Ciudad de México, como “la meca de la música en streaming”, dato que sigue soportando la histórica visión de México como la puerta de Latinoamérica para todos aquellos artistas que quieran exponer su talento al mundo.

Su industria musical, así como la creatividad de sus intérpretes y exponentes, se hicieron presentes en este 2018 con propuestas frescas e innovadoras que van más allá de los conocidos y consolidados artistas de esta escena quienes, aunque también presentaron nuevos trabajos (véase Zoé y Natalia Lafourcade), les toca competir con toda esta oleada de nuevas bandas y proyectos que nada tienen que envidiarles a estas bandas que ya tienen rato trabajando.

En El Soundcheck, tuvimos oportunidad este 2018 de contar en cabina con la presencia de Odisseo y Diablocalavera para hablar sobre sus nuevas producciones, sin contar con que en la segunda temporada del programa (2017) ya nos había visitado El David Aguilar para compartirnos detalles sobre su álbum “Siguiente”.

Centroamérica: Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica y Panamá Centroamérica destacó en este 2018 con propuestas bien diferenciadas y que podrían sorprender a quienes no estén habituados a escuchar música de estos rincones. Las escenas alternativas o “indies” de Costa Rica y Guatemala nada deben envidiar al mundo. Costa Rica tiene ya algunos años produciendo buen indie y Guatemala podría ser la próxima nueva revelación musical de Centroamérica. Nicaragua, muy similar a Venezuela, tiene una producción variopinta, pero sin duda orientada a la protesta y exposición de sus dolencias actuales como país, y a la creación de música atemporal. Panamá, último pero no menos importante, nos entrega en este 2018, el trabajo más reciente del cantautor Carlos Méndez, a quien recomendamos seguirle la pista con lo que se trae. Venezuela

Uno de los países con más historia de música propia e independiente de Latinoamérica, sin duda es Venezuela. A pesar de no contar, desde hace muchos años, con una industria musical establecida, sino con sus diferentes elementos en asombrosa sincronía, Venezuela sigue sorprendiendo en 2018 con la presentación de material, tanto dentro como fuera de sus fronteras, producto de la diáspora que vive actualmente su población.

La música de los venezolanos se nutrió mucho en 2018 con el trabajo de equipos extranjeros, de acuerdo al país donde se radicaran los intérpretes nacionales. Muestra de ello es la colaboración entre los músicos Freddy Adrián y Orestes Gómez con el mexicano Agustín Ayala, para formar PAGA trío. Aunque, para fines de nuestro conteo, su disco debut entra como venezolano, fue grabado por talento venezolano pero en la Ciudad de México, en La Bestia Records.

Por otra parte, 2018 fue el año que finalmente vio girar por Suramérica a la legendaria banda Tomates Fritos, con fechas por Argentina, Chile, Perú y Colombia. Tomates Fritos destaca como una de las pocas bandas de su tiempo que aún viven en el país y que no tienen planes, actualmente, de cambiar su lugar de residencia a otras latitudes.

Colombia

El país caribeño sigue dando pasos agigantados en la consolidación de una escena más plural que la que tenía hace algunos años, dando cabida a mucho indie de exposición mundial y de alto renombre en festivales.

El disco más controversial del año, para Colombia, y que sin duda hay que destacar es el de J. Balvin, “Vibras”. En este trabajo, Balvin afronta el género urbano al que pertenece, pero lo nutre con letras que dejaron a más de uno pensando durante este año. En El Soundcheck, no solemos hablar de “lo urbano” y del reggaetón; pero Balvin, sin duda, logró un trabajo que con urgencia recomendamos escuchar para entender más este 2018 para Colombia, musicalmente hablando. Solo eso.

Indie del sur, sur

Una vez, un periodista argentino comentó que “de su país no había salido más nada, luego de Cerati, Páez, García y Spinetta”. Nada más alejado a la realidad.

Argentina, al igual que Chile, con sus particularidades, se han constituido en los gigantes del sur, con la presentación de propuestas que se pasean por géneros como el rock, la electrónica, el funk y ¿Por qué no? el folk. Todo bajo el lente de la independencia, del popular “indie”.

En particular, durante la tercera y cuarta temporada de El Soundcheck, tuvimos oportunidad de compartir detalles y entrevistas para los más recientes lanzamientos de Nación Ekeko, Paris Paris Musique y Mauro Conforti, así como una cuarta temporada llena de talento argentino y novedoso, productor de diferentes géneros.

Sin embargo, otras escenas, un poco menos conocidas, también tienen lo suyo y aportan a la buena música hecha en el sur del continente americano. Ecuador, Perú y Uruguay tienen propuestas que, para este fin de año, recomendamos escuchar con detenimiento para ampliar el espectro de lo #HechoEnIberoamérica.
