Might be a bit of a weird thing but I want to see Kai's sudden anger sprouts or emotional outbreaks to come back, or basically some aspects of pre S8 Kai.

I want to see Kai motherfucking smith be mad at anyone really.

The Merge just happened and fuck me his family is scattered again, they're probably just as worried and confused and scared as him and he's sick of everyone he cares about getting constantly in danger, intentionally or not.

And then he meets Lloyd, or Nya, and he's sorta relieved but at the same time, the others are still missing out there somewhere.

So he gets clingy onto them, "if I can't find the rest I have to keep the ones I have close me to safe."

Of course this comes from worrying over the others and their safety, and if the name "Imperium" and if their nindroids and Vehicles and genrals are anything to go off of, they're an absolute force to be wrecked with.

Doesn't help either that there's the responsibility now of ensuring Sora and Arin (and Riyu) are safe as well.

And the moment I want to see him have an anger or emotional outburst is in a scenario where Nya makes a one off comment about Kai being overbearing and protective of them.

And Kai just snaps at Nya.

He goes on a large fucking tangent about how he's always had to stay calm in clearly shitty situations, because they as a group just keep getting separated time and time and time again, danger around the corner at any given moment and he's tired of it.

And it would especially hurt him that the comment comes from Nya out of all people, because not too long ago she was still one with the sea, he had to sacrifice his entire childhood just to raise and protect her, and he knows to respect her boundaries and beliefs but in his mind the last time he went too soft it ended up with her sacrificing herself for them.

And he doesn't want to go soft nor can he because at any given moment, one of them could give their entire being just to save the others, and he's seen it way too many times, so he just can't.

AAAA kinda old art (that's a lie i made it like three weeks ago) but I wanted to talk more about the supporting characters of the High Tide AU! Those being. Misako, Maya, and Ray (I had no idea what to do with Wu so i've. set him aside for now)

This isn't going to be anything super in-depth. Just a little . idk. recap?

Misako and Maya become very close (that's. platonic) in the weeks following Nya's sacrifice. They already knew each other to an extent, but after she and Ray went missing, Maya never had the chance to get to know Misako as a true friend. But now she does! And they're like besties! The two bond over their shared experiences of motherhood and Misako uses knowledge gained from years of love and loss to help Maya through the grieving process.

Maya and Ray stay at the monastery for a few months after Nya's sacrifice to support Kai. Ray didn't know Nya the way Kai did, so they often reminisce on what she was like when they're together as a way to reconnect. Kai really struggles with feeling overly-responsible for the other ninja as they navigate their way through grief together; he feels as if it's down to him to do everything in his power to prevent his friends from suffering the same fate as his sister, but is quick to lose himself in the process. Being able to retell these memories with his father allows Kai to process his grief, and strengthen his relationship with the rest of his family too.

I'm doing my best to be as angst-free as possible with this AU and I hope it's paying off <\3 I don't want this to be the most devastating story ever, I just want to rewrite the scenario of Nya's sacrifice in a way that brings the ninja together instead of tearing them apart.

Back with another Ninjago little sister AU....

Now it's time for Kai and Nya's turn! Hope you guys enjoy it, especially since its a little longer

Hua Smith-Jiang

Hua means "flower!"

(For timeline's sake, Nya was 3 years old at the time of Ray and Maya's disappearance, and Kai was 5.)

Hua was only a couple months old when Ray and Maya left

She was a very well-behaved baby, however, something that Kai is still grateful for to this day

Kai had a lot of trouble raising both of his little sisters all alone, both Hua and Nya feel guilty

Before meeting Master Wu, Hua loved playfighting with the wonky swords that Kai would make

After recovering the golden weapons, Wu offered to become her teacher, since her old school was too far away from the monastery

So Hua basically spent the better part of her years in the Ninja's care

She would always hang about with Nya while she was creating her samurai X suit

When Sensei Wu's academy was opened, she became a pupil there

She would always behave in Nya's lessons but never in Kai's, and that would really piss him off

While her siblings and the other ninja were away because of their missions, that was when Hua began to feel really lonely

She would sometimes sit staring at the wall for a whole day because she literally had nothing better to do

Around the time of Possesion (She's like 12 years old at this point) she started to feel jealous of Lloyd because Kai would always treat him as a little brother

So she and Kai constantly got into arguments, Nya having to break them up all the time

She had a much better relationship with Nya

Once Jay and Nya officially became a couple, Hua never left her big sister's side for the next 2 weeks in case Jay stole her away

During the Hands of Time, Hua was kept in the dark about A LOT and it was getting to the point where no one would even tell her what was actually happening

The ultimately led to the worst argument her and Kai had ever had, Kai swearing at her and calling her a bunch of names

She sobbed her heart out afterwards

When her parents returned and Wu had disappeared into the time stream, Hua immediately went to live with Ray and Maya

She started to feel lonely all over again and she was sad because she thought her brother didn't love her anymore :(

Even Lloyd visited once apologising for making her seem invisible, and he felt guilty for the way Hua was feeling

(She forgave him and they became besties ehe)

But on New Year's Eve (a few days before SoG begins) Nya and Kai paid a suprise visit and Hua isntantly jumped into Kai's arms and balled her eyes out

Kai only rolled his eyes and was like "Did you seriously miss me that much?!"

But in all seriousness he did apologise for all the hurtful things he said and then they were a happy family again hehe

Hua was on a solo trip to Ninjago City around the time Garmadon returned, bear in mind she had absolutely no clue what was happening

She was on the street below the Bounty when Garmadon crushed it and she thought Kai had died

The first thing she did was find Nya

They both cried together because they thought their big bro was gone forever and also because Nya had lost her two best friends + her bf

But in the end Kai was ok so they were all happy again <33

I hc that around this time Skylor and Kai officially started dating, though it was on and off

But Hua LOVED Skylor so she didn't mind

Nya, Skylor and Hua went on girl's day outs like every other week

She would stay with her parents for two weeks, then stay the monastery for 7 days, before going home again

Bc she gotta see her big bro and big sis ofcc

Lloyd + Kai + Hua + Nya= the ultimate sibling squad

Hua had never felt more hopeless than when Nya turned into the sea

Her whole family sobbed for days and Kai was hit the hardest

Some days when Kai was just curled up on the corner of the couch silently, Hua would crawl up next to him and hug him, then he'd just start crying his eyes out

So you can imagine how happy these two were when Nya came back in Crystalized

By the end of Crystalized, Hua is 15!

Hua does also make an appearance in Dragons Rising, she's usually found at the crossroads and hung out with Arin and Sora a lot, telling them stories about the ninja

Obviously they don't know that Kai and Nya are her siblings so they never tell the ninja, and at this point they don't actually know her wherabouts.

That is all for Hua's story! Moving on to more facts about her:

Hua was really glad that she wasn't born with an element, because she hated the idea of going on all of the missions her siblings had to go on

Zane and Pixal were basically Hua's second parents after season 8

While she was staying with the ninja, Zane sometimes would give her the answers for homework, and Pixal would take her out at times where Nya couldn't

Even after they made up just before SoG, Kai and Hua were always butting heads

She loves wearing beaded bracelets and bangles on both her wrists

Hua once walked in on Kai and Skylor making out, the poor girl was so flustered she turned around and ran straight into the door 😭

Skylor laughed it off but Kai was so embarrassed

Jay always treaded lightly around Hua, since she wasn't really keen on Nya having a bf

She thought Nya would forget about her, even though her big sis tries to convince her that she'd never ever do that

Since Ray and Maya basically weren't a part of her life at all before Hands of Time, Hua sat them both down and brought together all her favourite things like bracelets, photos, etc, and she told them essentially everything there was to know about her

Somehow is probably the best Prime Empire player in all of Ninjago, both Jay and Kai are pissed about it

That is all! Zane is probably going to be next!! ^^

When she was younger (seasons 1-4) she'd dress up in the ninja's old gis for fun

Since her hair was quite long, she used to let the ninja style it for her for fun. Cole once created this beautiful twin-braided hairstyle and now Hua wears it like that all the time.

Ninjago(Dragons rising included) headcanons

•Lloyd has an intense fear of snakes, like he and Arin were gardening around the monastery once and Lloyd started screaming and freaking out over a random orange garden snake

•Sora and Nya love to spar

•Zane is normally ice cold to the touch, not just because of his elemental power but also because he needs to keep his system cool

•PIXAL watches anime, her favorite one is sailor moon.

•nya, pixal, And skylor have girls nights. After crystallized when harumi got redeemed she joined in.

•Jay seems like the guy to have multiple hatsune miku figurines in his room in the monastery. When Lloyd was still physically a kid, he would play with them like action figures(he still does it after the merge since there’s no Jay to stop him)

•Cole is an excellent baker, but if you try to get him cooking… he’s trying tho!

•Jay exclusively listens to frank Sinatra and vocaloid.

•Lloyds been bleaching his hair since he was 9(close to when we first meet him in the show) and now can’t stop since it’s part of his look. The monastery bathroom is very messy because of it.

•Arin and Zane cook together and have cook-offs, and Sora watches and judges which one prepared a meal the best.

•Kai rocks in his seat or standing when he was nothing to do or is waiting for something.

•Cole is afraid of thunderstorms, but not of Jay’s lightning.

•Nya is unsurprisingly buff

•(projecting, but-) Cole is part Arab from Lilly’s side, and Lilly is Egyptian, he knows the language to an extent.

•on that note, Kai and Nya are spanish and can speak it very fluently, which they use to talk to eachother in secret.

•Jay sometimes shocks people by accident due to his element

•when Zane is angry, he’s angry. He will lash out and ice spikes will shoot out of the ground. Everything’s gonna get way more cold. He’s accidentally almost hurt more people than he’d like to admit.

•Kai is just…invincible to fire. He can and will just sit in fire.

•Kai also has an average temperature of like 112° Farenheit or 44° Celsius.

•I like the idea of one of the DR ninja checking on Kai when he has like a fever or something and are absolutely appalled when they see that this man has a fever temp of 128° F.

•Cole is very durable. he has been recorded breaking 3 pieces of wood by having them smacked on his head. No one is sure if its just the rocks in his elemental power letting him do this or just Cole being Cole.

•MiniPix7 loves circling around and playing with Riyu. She doesn’t have to Pixal to hang with or make big projects with after the merge, so she spends her time either keeping Lloyd company, tinkering with other minipixes, or playing with Riyu.

•Garmadon is somewhere in the world right now with Vinny going on adventures and having bonding experiences.

•Jay tried to learn Spanish so he could suprise Nya at their wedding reception by speaking it fluently. He now hears a lot of weird conversations between the two siblings.

•sometimes Kai fantasies about what it would’ve been like if his parents never got taken. Maybe he would’ve excelled in his Element with Ray’s help. Maybe he could’ve had mother-son bonding time with Maya. Maybe he wouldn’t have had to juggle 2 jobs and a 10 year old at the age of 12. It’s useless, he knows. You can’t take back what has already happened. but it helps him.

•when oni garmadon was taken back into the living world, his good dragon part stayed in the departed realm, so now there’s a random dragon running around the departed realm with half of god’s power and desperately trying to go back to the living world for his kid and to reconnect himself.

•Wu knew about this dragon counterpart before he died in the merge.

•Lloyd will never admit it, but he loves fnaf. Like an unhealthy amount.

Im dubbing this the tigermom au, where Misako had a legit reason to leave Lloyd, and it was to put fear of god in the hearts of destinies writers the moment they hear the Garmadon name. (In the meanwhile getting stuck in a time loop/trap)

Honestly I just feel like she COULD be a really cool character, if her abandoning Lloyd with no fair explanation didn't weigh her down. She pretty effortlessly rizzed both sons of god, and is one of the few non EMs shown doing spinjitzu. Also was quite good at it, if we can believe Wu. Tho I think she could do a bit more sass. (She was sassy like twice, and I live for it. Also sassy Lloyd, but that doesn't belong here)

Here are a few scattered ideas:

° When she hears the prophecy, she realises the only way to save her family is to rewrite destiny. Good thing she knows where to do that

° Using her archeology/history background she begins looking for ways to move amongst realms

° She leaves Lloyd at Darkleys (only for a few weeks, she swears) temporarily. Why Darkleys? Well, he probably would be safer with his father idolized rather than despised (see the movie for example)

° I'm not sure of the deets, maybe Travelers tea or some other method, but she leaves for Cloud Kingdom (or perhaps Time blades shenanigans, but honestly, I want her to punch Fenwicks jaw trough his skull.)

° Not looking for a nice chitchat with the people who broke her family, she wreaks havoc amongst the denizens of CK, looking for two specific scrolls

° Eventually they kick her out with joined efforts, and she returns dejected. The worst she expected was Lloyd starting a Garmadon cult amongst the students, not her son all grown up, hanging out with a bunch of teens in pajamas.

° I want to make her showing up more impactful. I want Wu and the ninja to be surprised, I want her to be devastated when she puts two amd two together (she doesn't know about tomorrows tea, so it seems even worse). I want her to mourn the time lost, but still be determined to make it up somehow.

° Note, that while it's not nearly as bad, she still had the attitude, of fighting her way out of her problems over trying to raise Lloyd into not killing his dad. This could be a character flaw to explore, and it could make Lloyd more drawn to her, since her attitude is quite a bit similar to Kai's

Sidenote, I know that sounds like Maya over again, but it does't need it to be similar really. I like to actually make Ray and Mayas kidnapping make sense, with Krux knocking them out with the tea, kidnapping them, and THEN forcing them to stay with the "I know where your babies live" threat.

So while Maya was kidnapped, Misako would have left willingly, albeit, for longer than she meant to.

But let's get to the mom part shall we?

° Honestly, outside of making Misako more interesting, this is a bit self indulgent, because I think Lloyd should have a healthy outlet, since trauma dumping Akita is not really an option now

° Lloyd would be conflicted, not being able to hate her, but still, she was never there

° "You don't have to forgive me"

"It's okay, you didn't mean to..."

"But it still hurts doesn't it? You can let it out"

° I know, it's harder to manage more characters, but I want her to BE there for her son, also let's scrap Wusako, I wanna make her love Garmadon, to the very end, even if it's tragic.

° She won't leave when going gets tough, and she would offer her own fighting skills to help too

Just some fun extras:

° She showed up to the Monastery after some rumors about demigods living there, to examine the place. The spinjitzu brothers found her, she used some incredibly stupid pickup line with fingerguns, and procedeed to steal both their hearts

° She's got rizz that literally only works on these two.

° The spinjitzu brothers would stare down any EM who dares question her presence, and she fucking knows it.

° Will watch with a shit eating grin as Wu lectures, and Garmadon threatens the poor sap

° Since Maya is the overenthusiastic mom, I will make Misako the bad influence mom, who makes her son do dumb shit kids his age should do (and 100% joins in, cause, whose gonna tell her she can't?)

° Lloyd inherited his grandfathers hair, his father's eyes, and his mom's face.

° I just find it funny if Lloyd showed up to CK, and everyone was hostile/angry towards him. And Lloyd being Lloyd would assume it's about his dad, since it always is. Except not now.

° "YOU! I know who you are! You are that woman's son!"

° "...Yeah, he is my fa- wait, what?"

° "Hey, look, looks like your mom made quite a mess for ya"

° " Which only means even more people hate me so thanks MOM."

° Lloyd is the house cat, if he doses off on you, you are not allowed to get up/disturb him (I like to think it started when he was little, but since he is still the youngest mentally, it stuck). The ninja (and his family) strictly enforce this, even on random visitors who fall under the cat-curse. This is not even really Misako related just Cat Lloyd? Cat Lloyd.

° ... Also, I think he should have a ponytail. (Seriously, that hair would be realistically such a hassle while fighting. Pull that hair back, so you can SEE you dingbat)

Just... I mean, Lloyd and Garmadon are already cat coded according to the fanbase, why not give them a feral wildcat mom/wife? She will hiss at anyone who messes with them, don't worry.

And so history repeats itself…

I was kinda bored and this one shot has been bouncing around in my head for a while so here ya go! Let me know what you think!

it might be a bit bad, this is my first time doing this.

Description: Wu thought Garmadon could try something new for a change. Taking care of some plant wasn’t what Garmadon had in mind. Thankfully he doesn’t just have himself to blame when it dies, because ray’s gonna help him.

Lloyd doesn’t understand why his father likes those stupid plants so much and now he’s stuck having to take care of one. At least his big brother’s there to help him.

Ray walked through the newly built monastery, and even though it’s not the same as it was when he stayed there he couldn’t help but feel old memories everywhere…

Garmadon sighed for probably the tenth time. He’d been trying to figure out what to do about this. It was a problem, at the same time it wasn’t. But no matter how hard he told himself it didn’t matter, that it wasn’t staring into his soul, despite the lack of eyes, he couldn’t stop feeling like it was judging him. So he stared back, trying to figure out what to do about this problem.

“Garm, you ok? You’ve been staring at that plant for the last half an hour.” Garmadon forgot ray had stayed with him at the monastery while his brother and the others were out. He looked over at the man who was playing chess on his own, or attempting to figure out how to play. “Yes I’m perfectly fine, just frustrated…” He continued to glare at the greenery.

“With plant?” Ray retorted. “ maybe, maybe not,” Garmadon huffed. “ say, where’d you get that anyway” Ray asked turning his attention away from the game. “ Wu thought it’d be a good idea for me to try some hobbies.” ‘To help with the anger’ went unsaid. “When he suggested gardening I told him that was stupid and than libber told me that I probably wouldn’t be able to keep anything alive away so I may have said something’s and next thing I know I’m stuck with this thing and they’re probably gonna win our bet.” “ you made a bet! How much?” Garmadon gave ray a look that told him that told him everything. “ that bad?” “Yep” Garmadon replied popping the P. “ you know… I could probably help you..” ray said in a voice that Garmadon was sure to get him stuck in another situation, but he didn’t care, he just had to keep the stupid thing alive for a few months and he was desperate. “Ok.” Ray smiled at that and came over and sat next to Garmadon. “ You know how I’ve been trying to get out on a date with maya?” Garmadon nodded, “well she said if I can prove myself to be able to provide for her then maybe she’ll go out with me.” “And how does this have to do with me… it doesn’t have to do with that stupid game does it?!?” Ray gave a sheepish smile. “How…”

“ smart people play chess! Smart people can provide. Maya wants me to be able to provide for a family. You see where I’m going here!” Unfortunately Garmadon could, because misako had said the something along the same lines and Garmadon thought the same thing too, except he had a bit of a different thought process than learning how to play chess. “ fine.” Ray fist pumped the air before getting the board and setting it up in front of Garmadon. “ so how do take care of it anyways?” The fern only lived about a week.

Lloyd glared at his father’s new plant. The plant he was supposed to take care of. The plant he had no idea how to take care of.

“Hey Lloyd, you good? You’ve been glaring at that thing for at least half an hour.” Kai said from his spot next to Lloyd on the couch as he tried to beat Cole’s high score in prime empire. “Yes perfectly fine, just frustrated.” “With a plant?”

From the hallway Ray couldn’t help but chuckle as he listened to the boy’s conversation. “And so history repeats itself…”

‘And hopefully for the better’ went unsaid.

Okay, so I read your au idea with the role swap thingy and for some reason I got reminded very suddenly of a fanfic I read from like 2016 where the main four where supposedly going to be Shade, Griffin, Neuro and Karlof (although this was back when it was just Shadow). And I don’t know, that just unlocked a memory of it.

Anyway, about your au. Will you tell me about it? Please?

claps hands Alright, children. Gather round, please get yourself comfortable and make sure you've grabbed yourself a snack. We're gonna be here for a little bit.

(BTW there will be no rhyme or reason to what I say. Ya gurl is gonna ramble.)

So in this AU, Chen is the only son of the FSM. The FSM created Ninjago using the powers of Creation and Destruction, which Chen now is a master of, is teaching to his two young pupils, Clouse and Garmadon. The plot at this point is kinda the same: Clouse attempts to steal the Golden Weapons (which are different in this AU) and gets banished to the Underworld, yadda, yadda, yadda. Garmadon eventually succumbs to the pressure of being the pupil of the literal son of God, and guilt over leaving behind his younger brother Wu to study at the monastery on Chen's private island. Wu has been left in the care of Ray and Maya, whom Garmadon works part-time for as an apprentice. Eventually, Garmadon runs away after he and Chen get into a really heated fight revolving around Clouse's disappearance and the pressure Chen has since put on Garmadon to succeed to make up for failing Clouse. He and Wu become close with Ray and Maya and raise their twin children Kai and Nya after their deaths.

Chen eventually gets married to Skylor's mother, the Master of Water, (I've named her Lorena) and they eventually have Skylor. Lorena passes away after complications giving birth to their son and Chen ends up in a dark place for a bit but pulls himself together to raise Skylor. Chen is surprisingly human in this AU? He grapples a lot with the concept of perfection and trying to find his footing as a teacher but his past seriously haunts him. He's already failed two students and almost his daughter, but for the the sake of Ninjago and making his father proud, he's going to try again. He's not a perfect person, and his flaws are beyond obvious, but he does his best.

Skylor is a mixture of Misako and Nya's roles. There is no Samurai X because Skylor is treated as an equal from the start (and sexism as a plotline is so mid-2000s) but she's also a total history buff and becomes the exposition fountain Misako kinda was. The only thing is that she doesn't have a corresponding Golden Weapon and but Water in the show is pretty OP anyways so she's got that going for her.

Karlof is probably the closest to his show counterpart, probably because he has the least angstiest backstory. He's a mechanical engineer and the son of the Master of Earth who wields the Gauntlets of Earth as his weapon. He's basically the dad friend and everyone's big brother.

Griffin is the grandson of the Master of Lightning and wields the Whip of Lightning. He's annoyingly flirty and a track star prodigy who starts out pretty cocky but things go south for him when a Serpentine encounter gives him horrid acid scars surrounding his lips and chin, which he covers up with a mask. He's the kind of guy who hides his fears behind a swaggy coolkid persona.

Neuro is the son of the Master of Ice, Mahiro, who eventually becomes important later on. He wields the Spear of Ice. Eventually, the defeat of the Overlord ala Zane leaves him missing his left eye and arm, which are eventually replaced with robot prosthetics. He's an ice cold motherfucker who gradually warms up and takes pride in his natural intellect.

Shade is the son of the Master of Fire, but also the son of Mahiro making him Neuro's half-brother (it's complicated) and wields the Crossbow of Fire. He's a scrappy and aggressive street kid and gets treated like such by everyone.

Morro isn't related to the FSM at all. He's an orphan who obviously must've descended from an Elemental Master somewhere, but nobody knows his roots. His role as the fabled Green Ninja is to be the Elemental Master of Life and the prophesized saviour of Ninjago who will eventually destroy the Overlord in Ninjago's greatest time of need. He's much more power-hungry than Lloyd is and absolutely revels in his role as this all-important hero, but gets a reality check very quickly when he realizes that this isn't a game and lives are actually at stake. Besides that, he's the baby of the family and Neuro and Shade have kinda adopted him as their younger brother (the greycale siblings).

How much do characters change in the Jiang Dragon Au?

THANK YOU FOR THE ASK ANON I HAVE BEEN CRAVING SOMEONE TO TALK TO ALL DAY. Well, talk at, I guess.

OKAY, so main ninja of this AU:

Kai and Nya are descended from a long, long, LONG line of dragons, their first ancestors being Wojira and the Fire Dragon I have yet to name! When Ray and Maya go missing, Wu obviously takes them in, because in this AU he's just taking in kids honestly.

Cole ran away from home after his mother died, and never looked back. He took to the mountains, where he met a travelling Wu. The two spoke, and obviously being worried for this distraught teen, decides to bring him home for a bit, bc he's actually kind of a family friend anyways. Cole in this AU struggles with depression (which, if u think about it, isn't even far from his canon self, I'm not gonna explain that all tho there's a youtube vid ab it from Corbyin watch it).

Lloyd was abandoned by Misako at the Monastery, after Garmadon ran away. (In this AU, the venom didn't corrupt Garmadon, rather it fucked up his oni and dragon sides, forcing them to blend and mesh and meld together slowly over time I'll go into Garm and all that in a later post if y'all care.) Lloyd lives with Wu, Kai, Nya, Cole, and Morro (note, I am keeping their canon age differences more or less, I kinda wanna keep Morro like in his 40s tbh, and Lloyd as a kid still). (Misako went looking for Garm btw shes not a bad mom she just couldn't take her son to find Garmadon bc it was too dangerous)

Morro was an orphaned boy, he lost his father and mother to the Serpentine War. Wu, finding this lost little boy hidden in the Monastery, decided to feed and shelter him, eventually adopting him after learning he has no known family. Morro is like, an important character in this AU, but truth-be-told I'm not rlly a Morro stan, it's just like, him being here is important for reasons.

Ninjago Season 7 in a Boat Sized Nutshell - So I heard that people have a hard time remembering this season so I wrote this:

(I mainly studied it to do a rewrite, post DotD AU)

TLDR; Twin Masters of Time, lost the battle to take over Ninjago in the past so, in the present, they work to go back in time so they can win the past battle with their new Snake Samurai army - also the Elder Twin is the reason why Kai and Nya were orphans.

For the long version; buckle up:

It starts the day after the Day of the Departed.

Cole is human, has new lava themed super strength/punches with the power of the staff of quakes and he has a cool ghost green scar (that is never talked about outside of a could-be-canon book: Way of the Departed; which takes place after S7 and before S8).

(TLDR about the scar; it's supposed to be a door to the Departed Realm that slowly gets bigger with exposure to yin/dark energy which means it's slowly splitting Cole's head open, and yes it is painful - this was considered too dark for the show - but they still gave us the Oni Trilogy)

The Ninja are at work cleaning up the museum after the events of the fight (the museum mess is mainly Dareth's fault though)

The Ninja have also decided to move into Sensei Yang's (no longer cursed) floating temple. Because of this Misako, Ronin, and Dareth are helping with moving day (but Dareth is just supervising because apparently he got a bad back after the events of DotD so Ronin and Misako are doing all the work).

Wu, meanwhile, is at the ruins of the original Monastery, waiting.

Back at the Museum, Cole is having trouble controlling his powers and Kai and Nya find a painting of their parents that was done a short while before they disappeared. (This is also where we find out that Nya was three when Ray and Maya disappeared).

(IDK where it was said but apparently Kai is two year older then Nya which means he was five when he became the man of the house - as someone whose parents grew up in Third World environments, a five year old with this type of responsibility is considered normal and acceptable especially when the kid is the eldest child who is expected to be the third parent).

The Ninja find a different painting of an Battle that took place almost directly after the events of the Serpentine War.

The painting shows Wu and Garmadon fighting the Hands of Time (Twin Elemental Masters of Time).

Back with Wu, the younger Twin, Acronix, has arrived in the present at the Monastery, exactly forty years after the Battle in the painting.

The Time Twins don't actually have their powers as their powers were put into four Time Blades made of chronosteel; the blade that speeds up time shows up in the present and this causes time to skip forward a few minutes.

Acronix beats up Wu and uses the blade to starts aging him forward, the Ninja arrive and Acronix escapes to meet up with the museum director who is in disguise and is actually Krux the older Twin brother who is now forty years older.

Krux grew with the times and hates technology (not like Kai, Kai accepts tech, Krux wants to destroy all tech)

Acronix is new to the present age and thinks that technology is the best thing to ever happen.

After the fight at the Monastery, the Ninja think that they won but then a Snake Samurai starts attacking the new Borg store.

The Ninja fight, Borg gets kidnapped and Zane is down for the count AGAIN.

Kai goes to the museum to get information on the Snake Samurai helmet that he was able to take (and we get a flashback of when Kai(2) met Nya the day she was brought home).

Nya tries to fix Zane (and find out what attacked him - and finds out that is was the Hands of Time but only finds out after Kai gets to the museum).

The Snake Samurai start kidnapping builders and when trying to stop them, Cole punches Jay into the trash (as in into the bin and close the lid)

Kai fights Krux and they are evenly matched (the only ones who are also evenly matched with the twins are Garmadon and Wu).

Krux tells Kai that Ray and Maya were traitors that worked for the Hands of Time. Kai gets angry, Acronix shows up to the fight, they beat up Kai, Nya shows up, Kai gets his second wind, they beat up the twins but Acronix is able to escape with his brother (and Cyrus who they kidnapped), by using the fast forward Time Blade.

With Wu out of commission, Lloyd takes over as temporary master in training (yes, they say it like that).

Nya keeps trying to fix Zane and Pixal is annoyed by her lack of skill.

The Snake Samurai start stealing metal this includes Zane, but Pixal uses his systems to electrocute the snakes, Nya's Samurai suit is stolen and then Pixal appears to go offline.

The Ninja try to stop the Snake Samurai from stealing metal, Ronin and Dareth try to help and Dareth ends up breaking Ronin's leg.

(The Snake Samurai stole Dareth's fake trophies - which he apparently buys from Ronin)

The slow down Time Blade arrives and the snakes kidnap Edna, thinking that she is a builder.

Jay saves Edna and the Ninja get the Time Blade from the snakes and bring it back to Yang's Temple.

(Zane, Jay and Cole decided to play with the slow down Time Blade. During this Cole accidentally cuts up Jay's stuffie, Mr. Cuddlywump)

The Twins, with their Snake Samurai army, attack the temple, break the Destiny's Bounty, and Lloyd almost dies but is saved by Samurai X 2.0 - a.k.a. Ninjago Queen Pixal Borg.

The Time Twin's Top General (the only Lady General) beats up the Ninja, takes the Time Blade, and kidnaps Wu.

The Ninja split up to cover more ground.

Lloyd, Zane, Jay and Cole go to the museum to see if Krux hid anything there.

Nya and Kai stay behind to try and fix the Bounty but they can't so they so they split up for their own personal missions.

Nya goes to her Samurai X cave to find out who is the new Samurai X.

Kai goes to get advice about evil parents from Skylor.

Lloyd's group finds a hidden passage into the sewers where they find Scales who tells them about the Snake Samurai and where to find them - they're in a swamp (Snake Samurai are called Vermillion Warriors and are the first generation progeny of the Great Devourer with the same instincts to consume everything - this is never explored)

Nya fights the new Samurai X (who is using everyone's voice except Pixal's), after which, she accepts the new Samurai X but she thinks it's Skylor.

Nya goes to Chen's restaurant, where Kai is talking with Skylor and Nya finds out that Skylor isn't Samurai X.

Kai tells Nya that their parents are alive and working for the Hands of Time.

The Jiang Smith Siblings are depressed.

Skylor comes back with two bowls of her favorite noodle recipe (the type that always cheered her up) so as to cheer up the Jiang Smith Siblings and she gives them good advice.

Nya agrees with Skylor's advice while also giving Skylor a back handed compliment (while pointing and waving her chopsticks in Skylor's face - like girl, rude, very rude).

Then the siblings get a call from Lloyd's group about where the Time Twins's hideout is.

The Siblings go to the Swamp to find their parents.

Lloyd goes to find Wu.

(Wu has been having nightmares about being alone, and about having failed Misako, Garmadon and Morro)

Zane, Jay, and Cole go to free the kidnapped people.

Kai tries to kills his dad before his mother stops him.

Kai and Nya get an explanation - Ray and Maya made the Time Blades that Garmadon and Wu used to take away and hold the powers of the Time Twins so Krux kidnapped them to work for him, as revenge.

(We also get a flash back that shows us Kai(5) and Nya(3) playing as their parents get kidnapped in the background)

The pause Time Blade shows up and is taken by the Time Twins then they go to the forge in the swamp where Krux was forcing Ray and Maya to make armor for the Vermillion Warriors.

In exchange for Wu and the cure for Wu, Kai and Nya are forced to retrieve the Reversal time blade from the Boiling Sea (a sea which is always on fire) and use a special dragon blade that is able to combine the Elemental Powers of Fire and Water to make the Fusion dragon so the siblings can travel into the Boiling Sea.

The siblings get the blade, then the Twins fast forward Ray, take the blade and escape back to the swamp where they were forcing Cyrus Borg to make a Time Machine Snake Mech.

Kai and Nya make the Fusion Dragon to get them all back to the swamp.

They all fight and Samurai X 2.0 shows up to protect Cyrus.

The Twins go back in time with their three generals and snake army, then Kai and Nya stowaway on the time machine with Wu.

The Twins show up in the past - seconds after their past selves dissappeared into a time rift - and attack the Elemental Masters and the Spinjitzu Brothers with their Snake Samurai army.

(We get to see Jay's Birth mother - Jay's rambling tendencies is both Nurture and Nature)

Change the past, change the future.

Kai and Nya pretend to be Ray and Maya so they can help out the Elemental Masters.

The Masters are winning so the Twin pull apart all the Snake Samurai including their Generals, so they can have them power/monuver the time machine to be an attack Mech - with the Mech, they get past Wu to surrender.

In the present all tech disappears, Ninjago City reverts to a pre-modern style, Samurai X 2.0 disappears, but no one notices because Zane has returned to how he looked when he lived in his father's tree.

(Side Note: Zane looks human again instead of just disappearing like Pixal - que the Zane is a reverse Pinocchio / use to be human theories)

Back in the past; Kai and Nya form the Fusion Dragon again to attack the mech, then Nya gets an idea and jumps off the dragon.

The water half of the Dragon starts to dissappear without Nya but Kai begs it to stay and the water dragon stays for Kai.

Kai attacks the Mech but eventually the twins decide to retreat by traveling to a different time; Kai tries to stop them but they dodge his attack and, in Kai's panic, the fuison dragon disappears while the twins time travel again.

Nya and Wu (who is cured) meet up with Kai; Wu had told the Ninja that, in the past, not long after the Twins had disappeared in the time rift, the Reversal Blade had been found by the Elemental Masters and Hidden by Ray and Maya in the Boiling Sea - so Nya went to find the Reversal Blade to cure Wu.

They then use the Reversal Blade to give themselves a second chance against the Twins.

Kai, back on the Fusion Dragon, picks up Nya and Wu - Wu gives his past self the Reversal Blade to hide and tells him and the past masters to drink obscuri-tea from Mistaké - then Kai, Nya, and old Wu sneak back onto the time Mech and it enters a time vortex.

Kai, Nya and Wu fight the Twins and Wu sacrifices himself to make sure Kai and Nya return to their proper time with the Reversal Blade to save Ray.

In the present, everything is back to normal, Zane is back to being a Nindroid and Samurai X 2.0 is back.

Kai and Nya use the Reversal Blade to save their father. Lloyd is now the leader and the search is on to find Wu.

Opening scene hypeeeeeee!!!!! Love seeing them all work together, there’s definitely been a soft timeskip with Arin and Sora’s costume upgrades and how well they fit together

Lloyd’s handling Wyldfyre pretty well, respecting her boundaries while making sure she feels welcome anytime

Ray and Maya!!! Are they alive lol? Will we ever find out??

Devourer!Cole mini chapter 2

Cole’s just trying to have a good time, unfortunately, someone decides that they want to give him an offer

Cole was sitting on the statue out in the monastery courtyard, soaking in the sun. He smiled to himself, tongue flicking.

Someone came out into the courtyard, but he didn’t pay them any attention. All he wanted was to stay in his personal little basking spot.

Then there was a knock at the doors, and he groaned, opening an eye to see what was going on.

Nya had gone to answer, and was greeted by a woman Cole didn’t recognize, or maybe he was just too sleepy to remember.

The woman was saying something, and the others had come out to watch. Someone tried to touch him, and he flinched away, hissing.

The woman’s eyes turned to him, and he stared back, both of them startled.

“Oh, oh Nya! Is that your pet? They’re so cute!” Nya cringed, but the woman didn’t notice, only walking up to Cole to get a better look at him.

The serpent glared down at her, hissing louder. The woman took that as a greeting.

“Look at them! What’s their name?” She looked back at Nya, not noticing the snake leaning back into a strike position.

Luckily, Kai did. “Um, mom? I don’t think you should get too close.” He grabbed her hand, leading her away. “He’s not very friendly towards strangers.”

“Aw, that’s too bad. He seems so sweet.” She smiled at Cole again, waving at him and earning another hiss in return.

“Oh, and also -“ She looked back at Nya. “What happened to your other friend? The one with the brown eyes? He was nice.”

A man that Cole hadn’t noticed before spoke up. “Maya, hon. Could we bring this conversation into the monastery? These bags are getting heavy. . . .”

“Oh! Of course, Ray. Kai, could you lend your father a hand, please?”

“Oh! Uh, of course.” Kai smiled nervously, moving to help Ray.

Nya walked up to her mother. “So uh, yeah. Our friend. . . Well he - you know what? Never mind.” She led her away. “I’ll tell you later.”

Cole slithered through the hallway, heading towards the kitchen. He had gained a more humanoid upper half over night, meaning that he wouldn’t have an excuse to not talk to Ray and Maya this time. Actually, he didn’t think that anyone had explained him to them, yet.

He peeked into the kitchen, shrinking away a bit when he realized that Nya and Maya were already there.

He watched silently as they talked. Maya was cooking something, and he had to restrain himself from going over to ask for some. *Stay silent, you’re not ready yet.*

Now that he thought about it, he did remember Maya, but that was a long time ago, and he had been in a much more humanoid form.

He suddenly realized that he was being watched. He looked up, meeting Maya’s gaze.

She smiled at him. “There you are! I was wondering where you went.” She gestured for him to come over, and he flinched back.

Nya glanced at him, silently shaking her head. It wasn’t a good time.

Too late.

Maya started to walk over. “Come on! Don’t be shy, I don’t bite.” Cole almost laughed at that. *You don’t, but I do.*

Weighing his options, he rounded the corner and into full view.

Maya took a step back, eyes widening. “Wh - what happened while I was away??”

She took in the being in front of her. Every jade-green scale, each segment of the rattle at the end of his tail, those deep purple eyes.

She stumbled. “What happened to you??”

Cole sighed. He knew this was coming. Nya answered for him.

“So, mom, this is Cole. Uh, last time you saw him he a looked a lot more. . . Human. Basically he’s a shapeshifter, I guess. . . .”

Maya’s eyes gleamed, shock suddenly gone. “Oh! So, can you turn into something else? Like a dog or a cat? Aw, that’d be so cute.”

Cole cringed. “N-no. Just - just a snake.”

“So, you can turn into a human form, and then a snake form. . . Ooo! And you have an in-between form! Oh wow! How do you do that? Is it some sort of magic power you trained for years to harness?”

He sighed, tail rattling slightly. “Yes, and no. It just, happened, I guess.”

Maya nodded, though she didn’t really seem to be listening. “Could you show me your snake form? I would love to see it.”

“Actually, mom.” Nya spoke up. “You already have, when you got here. He was on the statue.”

“Oh! That was you? Why didn’t you say anything?”

Cole muttered something under his breath, looking away. Maya went on.

“You must be really strong, then. Oh, and also.” She smiled at him kindly. “If you ever want to be like your friends - human, I mean - let me know! I’m sure me and Wu can figure something out.”

Cole froze, eyes wide. Nya glared at her mother. “Mom, that’s not -“ But she had already left the room.

Okay so some people wanted the head cannons so here😼🤲

Also @neptunxx (whispers these in your ear)

most of the elemental alliance and the ninjas parents went to the same school since there weren't that many schools in ninjago back then.

except for cliff gordon,Lou, and coles grandfather (the master of earth that was shown in the season 4 flashback) he was way older than the rest of the alliance,by the time Misako(5) started school he was already in his mid twenties and his daughter(lilly) was 2. while Lou and cliff both went to the marty openheimers school for performing arts.

Garmadon and Wu only started school in like 7 grade because fsm realised how detached they were from the rest of ninjago.

Dr Julien and Misako were really close when they were younger because their families lived together, they both had financial issues so they worked together and supported each other.

They had a small phase were they genuinely thought that they were siblings and sobbed(alot💔) when their parents told them the sad truth (they still see each other as siblings no matter what anybody says)

Misako is Wasian, her mother was white and her Father was Japanese. but she never met her mom since she died during childbirth, so Misako was only raised by her dad.

Juliens parents were teenagers when they had him, so he mostly spent his time with Misako and babysitters since both their parents were gone most of the time (Misakos dad was working and Juliens parents were in school/working)

Julien and Misako are both autistic, Misakos special interest is archeology while Juliens was robots/androids. but they only got properly diagnosed wayy later since they couldn't afford it but also because it was that time were it was very difficult to be diagnosed if you weren't a cis white man.

Julien and Misako are both queer but 1 it was illegal and super dangerous to be out 2 Misako had really bad comphet and only realised after Garmadon came back in season 2. (Lesbian Misako is actually a 50/50 for me her sexuality HC depends on who I ship her with at the moment yk😔)

in 8th grade when the love triangle between Misako, Wu and Garmadon was going on, Julien secretly rooted for Wu because he thought Garmadon was an annoying edgelord

Maya, Ray and Libber were in a grade under the others while the previous master of ice(ice) was a grade over the others

Ray is filipino and was born in ignacia and was taught how to do blacksmithing from a young age, but he later moved to ninjago city to live with his aunt and her husband so he could go to school since the one in ignacia was closing down due to lack of money.

Maya is Chinese and was born n raised in ninjago city, her parents were emotionally manipulative and abusive so she ran away when she finished school (16), she stayed on the streets for a while until Wu and Garmadon found her and let her stay at the monastery. when they found out she was the em of water, the whole elemental alliance thing was set into motion.

Lou, cliff and the rest of the Royal blacksmiths are the same age as Maya, Ray and Libber

Maya and Ray were high school(not actually High Schoolers but yk in love whatever) sweethearts, Maya caught feelings first and Ray asked her to be his valentine in 8th.

Lilly is Indian/Persian (dad Indian mom Persian) she was also goth but had to stop later due to her illness. (Goth Lilly supremacy guys)

Lou is African, his parents died in a house fire and he lived in an orphanage for a couple years until he was adopted by two actors who then enrolled him into the marty openheimers school

Lou and Lilly met at a music festival, it was one of those festivals where it's just every type of music, Lilly was there for goth music and Lou was there for whatever he listened to idk

Lou noticed Lilly while she and her friends we're doing their goth dance moves and he just thought it was the coolest thing ever (and that one of them was really really pretty aka Lilly but he didn't know that yet)

during the break(are there breaks at music festivals???idk I've never been to one) Lou got enough courage to go and approach her (also with some hyping up from the other royal blacksmiths)

they pretty much immediately hit it off and after around two months they started dating

even before they started dating they were absolutely adorable, basically music nerd/theater kid x cool goth girl

Lou researched shit ton about goth music and style etc just so he could impress her (aww fucking nerd)

sometimes Lilly would take him to goth parties, she tried to teach him goth dance moves but he failed miserably every single time.

Lilly was a divorced parents kid, she and her siblings were the "one week at dads one week at moms" type of kids.

Lilly also has 2 older sisters who are twins (around 5 years older thank her) and one little brother 2 years younger than her.

That's it🤲

Also when it comes to school and grades I just used my own school system as a reference so like a quick guide uh you start school at 6 in like 0th grade(that's just the name idk if its called something else other places and no it's not kindergarten) then you just go up normally 1st 2nd 3rd etc and you're 15 when you finish public school aka after 9nth grade (or I mean the age depends on when your birthday is idfk🤷‍♀️)

Also I might make more of these cuz I wanna go more on Libbys, Cliffs, Ices etc lives but it might take a while😔

Oooo okay so

We got Goldsmithshipping (Ray/Wu/Maya). They've been married since some time after the Serpentine War.

After Ray and Maya disappeared, Kai and Nya lived with Wu at the monastery. This was after Garmadon's banishment; he couldn't lose his brother, partners, and his children, too.... Kai and Nya don't grow up alone, but still miss their missing parents terribly.

I've taken the character of Lar from one of the books and turned him into my own thing. he's mine now <3 He is the youngest of the Smith siblings, and Wu is his biological father (though that's not something this family cares about much; no one is 'less' of anyone's parent or anything like that, and Ray and Wu love all three kids the same. Should hopefully be obvious, but I wanted to make that clear ^-^; )

HOWEVER, Wu, Kai and Nya don't know about Lar; Maya only found out she was pregnant just before Krux took her and Ray, and so he was born in the swamp.

Krux knew he wouldn't be able to use Kai and Nya as leverage over Ray and Maya for long before they with Wu (he made sure to come on a day Wu wasn't home, that would ruin his plans). He'd planned to keep up this false friendship to stay close to the children in case Ray and Maya disobeyed him or anything, but Maya pleading with him not to take her because she's pregnant and he "can't do this!" gave him the perfect thing to continue ensuring he held power over them.

Lar being there kinda makes the scene where Kai confronts Ray in S7 worse.

He comes with Ray and Maya too during the events of Seabound. He's not gonna miss a chance to help his big sister :)

Hmm I'm trying to think of what else is notably different... OH!

Kai and Nya likely knew Cole as kids; their parents were friends and Lilly was one of the only people Wu trusted enough to leave Kai and Nya with while he'd go and search for Ray and Maya. (Lou kinda distanced them both from everything when Lilly passed, and... Cole did not recognise Wu until he sees him with the now grown up Kai and Nya)

Misako has been there quite a bit for the ninja in the show, but she and Nya at least would be a lot closer, since they're neice and aunt after all.

The events of the pilots happen a bit differently too, mostly because Kai already knows the team, he had just not been too motivated in his training until Garmadon had Nya kidnapped.

Garmadon being his uncle, imo, makes the whole Kai distrusting him in S1 both kinda funny, and sad too

Kai and Nya are probably a little more personally invested in the events with the SOG; that's their uncle.

I can't really think of any other major changes, the plot pretty much stays the same... I do like to delve into how Krux's actions affected Ray, Maya and Lar though, and how they're recovering (or in Lar's case, adjusting to normal life).

......if I continue I'm just gonna ramble about Family AU forever 😅 I love it a lot. It used to be called Two Dads AU (im soooo creative with names lmao) back when it was just ray/maya (do they have a ship name??? steamshipping????) and ray/wu but then i thought, 'hey, y'know what.....'

There's also a kinda spinoff version of this au, Happy Family AU, where as little angst as possible happens, back with Kai, Nya and Lar as small kids. Morro and Zane are also there. THere's a basic rundown here.

Anything I post regarding to this AU is tagged 'family au'! It's probably my favourite of all the AUs I've come up with. Lots of angst, but also fluff and sweet moments, tense moments, angst.....

The clouds below rumbled and threatened rain upon the valley. She could feel it around her, the dropping pressure as the warm front pushed through, and the inevitable fall of water dropplets coating the vegetation.

Maya, in her dozing off, focused on every single one. They trickled down and bounced, some colliding with each other and some shattering into mist and cycling back up into the clouds.

It was a shame that it never rained on the monastery, what advantages would she have during training if it did, but then again the fire EMs powers would surely be dampened.

Speaking of, her mind wandered back to his odd behavor that day. During training he had excused himself claiming to be sick, in which Wu allowed, and the he didn't show up for lunch or dinner or even chores. Ray didn't allow her into his room despite how close she felt that had become as of late, which was even more odd.

Did she say something to him and made him upset? Maya made note to speak to him about it in the morning.

Falling deeper into sleep, her mind's consiousness slipped into lucidity. The dream before her she had many times before: a blue lit cave with strange markings that coiled around led her down to a gated opening. Within laid an unfathomably large serpent, its horns jutting like jagged yellow coral from its dark scaley head. Its eyes, however open, peered lifelessly towards her.

In her hand she held a stone that shimmered blue, the shape ever shifting between her fingers. Somehow she knew it belonged to the sleeping beast, and although she knew it wrong to return the stone, she felt as though it was calling for her.

Just as the thought to break in came to her, Maya felt the hairs on her neck stand up. Something was watching her, something large and unknown that loomed with an intent to attack.

Maya snapped awake fast enough to see a serpents tail twist its way into the shadowed rafters.

A serpentine, here? Wu had said anacondrai could turn invisible and despite their size, were very sneaky. If one had snuck out here and managed to get past everyone, that meant that it surely has had enough time to collect information and was on the move to get out.

"Oh no you don't," She spat and sprung up into the rafters.

The quiet nimble motions of the intruder became loud and scrambled as she skipped closer, its tail flicking around wildly as it attempted to throw her off. It dived between a beam and the roof, squirming as it squeezed its way into a small storage area.

Although being unable to see in the dark, she heared it and dropped down into the room just outside of it. Maya smirked triumphantly, knowing well that the room beyond the door was a dead end, albeit pitch black. "You're pretty dumb for a serpentine," she taunted, lighting a lamp and taking one of the sparring rods off the wall.

Confident in her combat abilities, she batted away the thought of getting backup and slid the door open. Many scrolls and boxes laid in piles amongst overflowing shelves, the yellowed paper flickering with the fire in the lamp. Maya eased her way in, eyes scanning the room as she went. This serpent could be anywhere, could be any colour, but any movement it had she was confident that the sheer amout of paper would give away its position immediately.

And then, as the lamp's glow met the far wall, she saw it: a red scaley form sat upon a crate, its body curled around in a tight ball with its hands childishly around its face as if it would help it further hide. From between its claws, a fearful eye peaked out and stared at her.

If this was a serpentine, she reasoned, it surely was an ugly one. Especially wearing such a red gi that seemed stretched and unfitting, yet somehow familiar... Maya took a step closer, eyeing over its form once more and lowering the lantern. "You're not a serpentine... you're... Ray?" She asked almost not believing her own words.

Any doubt left her mind when he squeaked out his awkward laugh and smiled his goofy smile. His hands fell to his lap and idly squeezed at the ruined fabric, "you caught me, surprise." Ray fidgeted.

"Ray what happened to you? Is this why you disappeared all day? We need to tell Wu right away, I'm sure he can undo this-" Maya turned to do so as she talked, only to spin around and approach him again. This time, in a much lower voice she asked, "Was it the fangpyre general?"

He blinked, unsure of what she meant, "N-no? Maya this isn't serpentine related, its, I'm-I'm not fully human." Well that's an odd way to put it.

"Then what are you?" Her voice became harder, "and why were you watching me sleep?"

"Well, I maybe kind of sort of am part dragon..." he squeaked, "and I-I can explain the second one! I was going to tell you about this but then- well you looked so peaceful I didn't want to wake you up. But then you looked at me like you wanted to kill me so I got scared and ran." Ray smiled.

Maya squinted, not buying it for a second, "does Wu know?"

"No. I rather him not know... Maybe he already does... I don't know."

"Can you change back?"

"Uhh, well, no. I'm stuck sort of."

If it was a secret enough to cause him to be in hiding all day, that certainly didn't bode well for tomorrow. "How did you end up like this in the first place, maybe we can reverse walk through this." She set the lamp down and sat on a box across from him, leaning the rod against a shelf.

Ray thought about it, "I dunno. We were all sparring in the morning and then I guess I just started thinking about how to really channel my element you know? Then I started thinking about the war and what we're fighting for and I just got so worked up about it that I felt -I dunno- sick. And thats when this happened." He flicked his tail. "My dad told me a story once, about how a dragon in our family went rogue and forced a drought that wiped out villages. What if I do the same thing?? What if I lose control when we go to fight and I hurt you?"

Maya tapped her fingers on the wood, "do you feel yourself slipping away?"

"No... but what if people think I am?"

"I think you're overthinking this."

"But what if-"

"Ray," she stopped him, "So you're part dragon and you had some bad family history. That doesn't mean anything until you prove it to mean something. My mom told me when I was a little kid that all of the great feats in my bloodline mean nothing to me unless I make them meaningful, and unless you actually want to go and make farmers mad, I don't think you'll do it." She crossed a leg over the other, "You may look differen't, but you're still the dorkishly annoying blacksmith I care about."

He looked away, "you don't think the others would be scared of me if I looked like this?"

"well... no I think they would be, which is why we should tell Wu."

"I don't want anyone else to know about this." Ray muttered.

"Then we'll make him promise not to say." Maya nodded, picking up her things. "Ill be back with him shortly."))

first off, I love your ninjago art- they're all so soft and squishable and emotive! always makes me smile esp. when it's Zane art

second, I wanted to ask if you could share your take on how the gang would've dealt with Wu staying a baby after SoG! especially since they'd just have to like figure out how to raise a baby

Lloyd would not have any significant role raising baby Wu, because that would just be weird for him lol. He's more like a brother figure towards him. Cole is the main parental figure after discussing it with the others, and makes all the big decisions like doctors/schools/etc. Zane is probably secondary parent completely by accident.... turns out Zane is very patient with kids and good at answering a lot of questions. Kai would be more active in parent stuff but he has complicated feelings towards fatherhood and the others respect that, so hes mostly just a fun uncle/sometimes babysitter. Jay and Nya couldn't keep a plant alive bless their hearts... they're like the fun aunt/uncle duo. Pixal is kind to him but she's not a baby person. She'll probably grow closer to him as he ages lol

They convert a storage room in the monastery into his new room and leave his old one untouched for him later in life. Lou, Maya, ray, Ed, and edna all come over sporadically and offer advice/help out!

It takes a villiage lol

So apparently this is gonna be a thing now

My characters have taken control of the story again. I had a dream about the aftermath of the FSM's death, and I just... so it goes like this:

The year is 1955 AC. So the FSM attacks Garmadon during an argument, Ray and Maya show up, Ray burns the FSM (who's just a flesh puppet for a pair of malevolent dragon spirits) to death, and that was what I already had written down.

BUUUUT the dream I had added more context to WHY the fight started as well as what happened after.

So when Wu was younger, he had a very emo/goth/punk/dark style. Ear piercings, dyed hair, dark clothing with band t-shirts and ripped jeans, stuff like that. Well, one day he and FSM (or more accurately the dragons controlling his dead body) got into a fight and it resulted in Wu's piercings getting violently ripped out of his ears courtesy of the Elemental Power of Metal.

This is when Garmadon steps in. He sends Wu inside, and then he blows up at his "father". Long story short, when Garmadon walks away, the dragons don't take too kindly to that and send a wave of ice his way, impaling him and nearly killing him.

Cue Ray and Maya coming over to pick the brothers up, as they'd made plans to do something. Of course, they walk in and see what happened to Garmadon and Ray, the reckless man he is, attacks Ninjago's equivalent of God... and turns him to ash.

Ok, you still with me? Coz this is where the dream picks up again.

So Garmadon's in the hospital after all this, and it's been a couple days since everything went down. Wu is sitting in a chair next to his brother's hospital bed, and he is very much not happy. I mean, it had been a wild couple days. His ears are mutilated, Garmadon's comatose and missing a lung, and their father is dead... and the Monastery ended up catching fire during the fight (thanks Ray).

So Ray and Maya come to visit them and end up taking Wu home with them.

Now, Wu's asleep on their couch (after crying himself to sleep because he is NOT okay) and Maya kneels next to him and brushes his hair out of his face while Ray tosses a blanket over him.

And this is where the dream starts taking a slightly unexpected turn. So it fast forwards a tiny bit and shows different scenes of Wu and the Smiths... except for the oddest reason they're less "friend" moments and more "ship" moments.

It was really cute, too. The Smiths have Wu move in with them so he's not alone, and over time they become more than just friends.

Still baffles me, though. CM!Ray and Maya have been married since the 1920s and after about 30-some years they decided that "Hey, let's involve this traumatized emo demigod in our marriage!"

It works somehow. Kai and Nya (who are born in the 1990s) still refer to Wu as their "uncle" but that's because they aren't old enough to fully remember his relationship with their parents.

Fun fact: the siblings also don't know Garmadon and Wu as Garmadon and Wu at first. They know the two brothers as Donnie and Alex (the latter since Wu's middle name is Alexei and he goes by that when not on official business) and don't learn otherwise until after the Skulkin attack.

BONUS: I should also note that both Ray and Maya are taller than Wu
