You wonder if he would not rather read something else. 

“It can’t be helped, can it? This is a Church. This is the only literature available to me.”

You ask him if he enjoys reading the Bible.

[05:34] “Is that even a question you have to ask a Vampire? One who enjoys La Rochefoucauld’s writings at that. ...Well, it is fascinating in its own regard. Although I might not be enjoying it in quite the same way you would expect. ーー ‘Do not fear. Your soul will remain even after death. There is hope.’ It’s just a bunch of the same message. You tilt your head to the side.

“Are you disappointed in me? In a guy like me, who talks big about bearing the suffering together with you, yet he can’t even keep his composure.”

You frown.

[09:04] “Right now, I understand very well how you must have felt. That desire of not wanting to show your weak, pathetic side to someone. We just can’t help but want to end on a good note, remembering only the best of someone, huh? Especially when it comes to the person you love. I didn’t want you to see me so utterly miserable.” 

You show him your hand.

[09:40] “The rings…? ...Of course I’m wearing it as well. The vow would be rendered null if we do not both wear it. ...Ah, right. We vowed to stay together and love each other, for better and for worse. So no matter how shamefully I may behave, and regardless of how pathetic I look, you will still love me the same. You nod.

Not only did I witness my own father’s death right in front of my eyes, but I stayed at an orphanage where children would pass away on a daily basis. Above all, I have even been on the brink of death myself at one point. After seeing it time after time and even experiencing it first-hand, I liked to believe the concept is no stranger to me. ...However, that was all just arrogance on my part. These past couple of weeks, I’ve been consumed by fear and anxiety. So much so, I end up having to rely on some God I don’t even believe in, just to keep my sanity. Every time the morning dawns, I’m terrified of checking up on you laying beside me. I’m always scared that you might pass away in your sleep. As of late, even just closing my eyes is scary. About the Boueibu iceberg

@delphoxqueen asked me to explain about my list for the iceberg so here it is. I might update this from time to time with links and stuff if I stumble across the original posts. This is all from what I know so feel free to add new info. Also, spoiler warning for RobiHachi and the Boueibu manga and novels. (This is like a masterpost it’s very long)

1. There’s a theory in tumblr about which decade the series is set in, using data like the friday the 13th calendar in s2 ep11. In HK we got a second number for when the next monthly Pretty Boy Contest was happening and using the one from Love it was theorized that around a decade had passed since then, which ended up being true.

2. The stage play had a few original songs and characters exclusive to it so unless you watched the full performance, you probably weren’t able to witness all of them. One of the characters is called “Robato Deniro”, as romanized in the stage play booklet I own.

3. The nurse and the cafeteria staff from the s1 mobile game appear in the background in around the first half of s2 ep3.

4. S2 had an unfinished manga that was only available online and was never released on physical format; it was centered around the defense club and sometimes the conquest club and Beppu brothers. All that’s left from what I know are the scans linked on magicalgirlsandcerulean’s blog.

5. This isn’t that obscure because it’s talked about in the anime, but I’m mentioning it because I think many people dropped it before the ova, where right at the beginning it is revealed that the alien that resucitated Mr. Tawarayama twice was, as described by Io, a “mulberry-colored naked mole rat-looking thing”, and was nicknamed “Moley-san” by Yumoto. At least in the anime, we had never heard before of who this was and it never appeared on screen nor was mentioned again.

6. In HK ep8, Karurusu promises the knights to grant a wish if they show him how earthlings spend summer. Kyoutarou reveals at the end of the episode that he wished that summer lasted one more day so he could spend it doing nothing, which prompts Ichiro to theorize that it’s the 32nd of august, and the next day is the second 1st of september.

7. The stage play was was held from march 10th to 13rd, of which the latter is Ryuu’s birthday. There’s an additional recording of a small celebration with cake focused on Ryuu and Io.

8. Atsushi mentions his older sister in the flashback at the beginning of s1 ep4, but she never appears or is mentioned again.

9. There’s a few posts on tumblr theorizing about what happened to the Hakone parents since Yumoto only says in s2 ep3 that according to Gora, “they are busy with their hot springs tour”. En mentions that it’s a bit suspicious, but it’s all the information we have from the anime. Posts talk about the parents perhaps passing away from an accident or an illness, thus the reason why Gora was so worried about Yumoto’s cold in s1 ep10, but from another post I think it’s implied in the second novel that they actually left their home when Yumoto was still a toddler.

10. It’s no secret that the surnames of the characters are all real onsens in Japan that even the seiyuus have visited, but apparently the Arima onsen has two different kinds of water, “kinsen (gold hot spring)” and “ginsen (silver hot spring)”, with different properties each, and the Kusatsu onsen water also has certain properties, both that were used to build the characters. Additionally, Ryuu’s favorite food are Sato Nishiki cherries, which are grown in the same prefecture, Yamagata, as his onsen, Zaou.

11. The press club lose relevance after s1, with only Kinosaki and Tazawa reappearing briefly in s2 ep2 to interview the Beppu twins after they arrive at the school. Tazawa doesn’t even have lines. Hireashi is mentioned by Zundar in ep11.

12. What the heck

13. Exclusively in the manga we see that Arima met Kinshiro and Atsushi when they were little and they were good friends, but when they met again as adults, Kinshiro seemingly didn’t remember Arima. Atsushi, however, stated that Kinshiro’s talent is remembering people’s faces and names, so Arima wonders if he’s just trying to distance himself from him. He also explains to Akoya that he follows Kinshiro and obeys him because as a child, he was fascinated by his radiant smile. This is never talked about in the anime.

Like the previous point, the anime never shows Akoya being bullied, at most just a slight dislike of his full name, but the manga shows that he was made fun of for it and how he actually hates his surname, to the point of introducing himself formally to the president and vicepresident of the student council as “Holy Angel Akoya”.

15, 16, 17, 19. Batonama lives were the livestreams done through the franchise by the defense club seiyuus on youtube and niconico. They’re all on youtube, without any kind of translation.

Love-ko is a girl with a shell bikini drawn on a piece of cardboard that was used as a girlfriend in the Batonama Love! lives, acted by the seiyuus themselves.

RobiHachi has one episode full of official Boueibu artwork and a parody of the series too, a Love-ko doll appears, and Wombat appears as well, named “The Don”. It received an english dub, so for a bit, people were excited that Wombat was going to speak in english too. Also, various mechas appear in both Boueibu and RobiHachi.

18. The director of Fairy Ranmaru (Masakazu Hishida if I’m not wrong) revealed in an interview that he was inspired by Boueibu and aimed to make a show like that.

20, 21. The website super-groupies.com has results for defense and conquest club lingerie sets, dc and VEPPer tote bags, the Beppus’ scarf rings, dc bath sets and the pumps magicalgirlsandcerulean mentioned. I’ve found the s1 Loveracelets and Caerula Adamas’ ring on different sites, the True Loveracelets on TheChara’s twitter and the Happybraces (apparently called “Hapibure”) on broccoli.co.jp but I’m not sure where exactly they were all announced and sold, so I’ll just drop that.

22, 33. Boueibu was originally pretty much a copy of Sailor Moon, I think they were all going to be called “Lackluster Moon” and that stuff and be literally Sailor Moon genderbent. They were all different from color palettes to physical features (except Yumoto’s), and Ryuu was a shota, even smaller than Yumoto. Their names were also very reminiscent of the five Sailor Senshis’. Even if they made it more original, the show is still clearly inspired by Sailor Moon (just look at Caerula Adamas lol) and Pretty Cure. It has also referenced, very blatantly, animes like Doraemon, Detective Conan, Aikatsu and even Vocaloid, when Kyoutarou tries to guess what Karurusu is saying with ““Just Google It, Asshole”?” in ep1.

23. Wombat’s real name and the name of his planet sound like gibberish to the earthlings and ends up being named after the Earth animal, but Zundar, Dadacha, Karurusu and Furanui all have original names. And I think Hireashi means “goldfish”?

24. If you google “zundar technology”, it’s actually a company in Shanghai, China. Aren’t Wombat and Zundar always talking about “advanced alien technology”?

25. Zundar and Dadacha are siblings, so are Karurusu and Furanui, and so are their father King Kamopapa and their uncle minister Wao, but neither are the same species and, except the first two, not even the same color. But they are supposedly related because they share birthmarks or something like that...

26. Everyone who’s in this fandom knows about the pixel blur and voice pitch censor from s1, but I’ve added it anyway because it’s so rare for mahou shoujo and shounen animes to explain why the heroes aren’t recognized when transformed.

27. A good while of s2 ep11 is spent discussing Zundar’s ex-wife and his problems to give child support. Naturally, he gets mad at this.

28. “Money doesn’t betray” (s1 ep6) and “The despair hidden behind your smile that comes from not being understood” (s3 ep11) are sentences that came out of nowhere and implied that the people they were said by (Io) or about (Taiju) respectively had some kind of angst going on but were never explained at all. They’re famous for just that.

29. The Beppu twins’ house in Andromeda shown in flashbacks had strange green circles that apparently are from another anime I don’t know but honestly I didn’t get it very well... It was revealed on a tweet from Takamatsu.

30. Alien language mostly appeared in s2 due to the many flashbacks of Aki and Haru in Andromeda, but in Boueibu s1, it appears on the Zundar Needle before it is shot on the human. It appears a lot through RobiHachi as well, due to being a story about travelling through space. There might be an alphabetical chart somewhere, but I can’t assure it exists, I might even have dreamed it.

31. Hikaru Midorikawa as the melon monster, Kousuke Toriumi as the bishounen monster, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as the kotatsu and panda monsters and Takuya Eguchi as the remote controller monster in s1 and 2, before going on to voice the main cast in HK. Keisuke Koumoto voiced Hatchi Kita in RobiHachi as well as Akihiko in Boueibu, and the characters look similar.

A new addition is that so far Boueibu is the only anime I’ve seen where children weren’t voiced by female seiyuus, but by actual children. Personally, it’s charming and makes it so much more realistic, specifically since no women appear in the franchise at all either (not counting Protag-chan in the game).

32. Speaking of seiyuus, Can I Destroy The Earth? had a dub shown in ep11/12 (?) that made Gora the villain that wanted Earth to stay the same and not progress, against the monsters that supposedly wanted to bring good things to earthlings. Aki and Haru quickly dismissed this dub as fake. (I made a mistake in the title in the previous post btw)

34. As seen in the glossary in the Boueibu Mook (I think, but might not be the mook), Caerula Adamas’ speeches are based on an old japanese detergent commercial that went “Gold, silver, pearl, gift”.

35. In the manga there’s a short parody of the first chapter of Sailor Moon with “Pretty Boy Guardian Gakuran Akoya”. The conquest club manga was released before the anime, so I remember reading somewhere that a fake website appeared for the Gakuran Akoya manga, before turning into the conquest club manga website in the day of its release.

36. Cgi was used a few times in the anime: s2 ep10 for a short sequence of the defense club on a rollercoaster and the carousel monster, ep11 for a cenital shot of the Battle Lovers singing, and HK ep12 for the Honyalaland soldiers and the Wao mecha.

37. The toothbrush incident in s1 ep7. (It’s definitely well-known but it’s so weird lol)

38. “We hope we can see each other again someday!” Something along those lines was the last text to appear in the last episode of HK, implying a s2. We all know how that went.

i’m back and i can’t get over nanakari. or maya going from being a  voluntarily solitary and lonely person to ending up going to college with two of the most loving and dependable girls in the cast. she deserves that support, and mahiru and futaba deserve the inspiration and goals she will set for them to reach.  i think that maya will teach mahiru confidence and help her crystalize her ambitions into tangible goals, mahiru will teach maya care and vulnerability, and futaba will take them both out on her bike to get snacks at 3 am.  roommates au when...

They spend most of their time together, performing different duties on the farm, as well as conversing with each other and enjoying their company. ➡CURIOSITIES 1- Rengoku claims to have fallen in love at first sight with Hikaru, and she too, although she does not admit it. 2- At the beginning of her relationship with Rengoku, she kept it a secret from Yukiko as she was ashamed. 3- Rengoku went personally with Yukiko to ask permission to go out with Hikaru. 4- Hikaru dislikes Sanemi to such a degree of hating him and wanting to run him from the farm so that he does not approach Yukiko. 5- Hikaru gets along very well with Rengoku's younger brother, although he doesn't know his father because of her complicated relationship. 6- Rengoku was willing to live together and get married, but Hikaru didn't want to get away from Yukiko and when he finally decided to live a life with Rengoku but it was too late.

Mai Nakahara at ACEN Recap

I’ve been wanting to make this post for a while, because my last post about Juvia’s Japanese voice actress Mai Nakahara got a good response (I’m happy to see more fans of hers!!). For those who don’t know, Mai attended the anime convention Acen this past May. 

A few kind fans on twitter documented some of her panels, and a couple of people interviewed her. Not to mention Mai herself talked about Acen on twitter. So, this post will compile all the info that I’ve found online (sadly I couldn’t go to Acen to see her myself ;_;). For the FT/Juvia fans, she talked about Juvia, too, and how she’s the character who sticks out to her the most of all the ones she’s done! ^-^

First of all, Mai posted on twitter when she arrived in Chicago. Apparently she was impressed and excited by the apple pie welcome desserts and American chocolate lol (Mai loves sweets).

Mai was not attending the con alone. There were a couple of other junior (to her) voice actresses who were with her. But when it came time to participate in the opening ceremony, while her juniors were grouped together, she had to go on stage on her own, and she said it made her nervous lol.

During her time at Acen she participated in two panels, and had 3 signing events. On twitter, parts of her panels were documented by fans who had the chance to ask her questions.

Inoue-san is the veteran voice actress who played Nagisa’s mom in Clannad. She and Mai are still super close friends even after all these years.

BTW, as to the “personal question” that someone asked her, despite the rules, it was “are you single?” ^^’ I imagine Mai was probably wondering what was asked, and I doubt if they even bothered to translate that for her lol.

Also, the person she asked for help about her audition for the role of Kashima in Nozaki-kun was Nakamura Yuuichi/Yuukyan who played Nozaki. ^-^

Of all the seiyuu at this con, Maisan stands head and shoulder in my opinion above all. She is definitely the most veteran but also literally the face of a voice acting school, plus being a definitive voice and actress for a few big time properties. You can see why I tried for her first.

It was kind of intimidating to go to her panel and stand like 3 feet away to ask her questions face to face LOL. I don’t know what to say other than she is every bit as advertised, in the best way. She also took a different approach to dealing with the challenge of “American Anime Con Panel” and it was a bit of a…not quite show-and-tell but also kind of a teacher-student dynamic. It was good contrast for Todakun’s panel in Canada the week after…

One of the joke we cracked while camping her autograph line was how everything she signed at the con was Mai-Hime, Clannad, or Higurashi. Somehow this is expected.

Ah well, I wish I could have gone to both of her panels. Nakahara Mai was the biggest seiyuu at the con for me....

Anime Trending: First off, thank you so much for coming out to Anime Central. It’s a real pleasure to have you here. I’d like to ask how your time in Chicago has been so far.

Mai Nakahara: I got to do some shopping yesterday, and it’s impressive how things are big here and so different from Japan, it’s been fun.

Excellent, glad to hear that. I’d like to start with the question about your time working as a voice actor. You’ve done many roles, you’ve spent a lot of time in the industry. I was wondering how things have changed since you first started as a voice actress.

Back when I started, it was a time when female idols were the center stage rage, but today it feels like males idols are the rage, so it feels like the gender roles have flipped.

I see. That’s quite a change that has been a little evident. So, I’d like to ask a question about your role in the puppet show, Thunderbolt Fantasy. When you found out it was a puppet show, what was your first reaction?

When we talk about puppet plays in Japan, what I grew up with was, and what we think of would be shows like Hyokkori Hyoutanjima — I don’t know if you would be familiar with it, but I was very much impressed when I went to the recording for Thunderbolt Fantasy because of the high-quality of the puppets and also there was so much high-tech involved, such as 3D that it was so different and very much impressive.

So on a similar vein, in the same show, puppets have so many restrictions on how they’re able to express themselves, only eyes and not movements and gestures. Did you need to adjust the way that you performed in order to make up for this lack of expression? 

Thunderbolt Fantasy is based on a Taiwanese classic, so it starts off with the timing Taiwanese narrator going as the soundtrack, and for our Japanese voices, our job was not to just come up with the original characters, but to really play along to the narrative.

Excellent. So to transition to another show, the role of Juvia from Fairy Tail. That is a very long-running show, and I’m wondering, as you’ve spent time working as the character, how your approach to playing the character has changed?

Juvia as a character originally starts off as an enemy and later joins on as a friend, so there was a complete change in the way I played her. And she starts off as a character who doesn’t know love, but by meeting someone named Gray, she gets to know love and so there’s a lot of feminine side of her that gets to be put in as the range of her character later on.

Excellent. So after so many roles, is there a particular character or role that sticks out as one that was particularly memorable or maybe a little bit harder to play than all the others?

I love all my characters, but Juvia from Fairy Tail and also, we didn’t talk about her, but Estella from Tales of Vesperia. These are characters that I’ve played for a long time, and I do get lots of fun from a character I get to play for a long time.

Excellent, glad to hear that. One last question, have you ever had the opportunity to listen to the dubs of shows you’ve worked on in other languages?

Not yet so far, and I would be very interested in watching them.

It made me really happy to see Juvia was one of the roles that stood out to Mai! When asked this kind of question in the past, it was Nagisa from Clannad that would be her answer, but I guess things changed. Hooray for Juvia! ^-^

Mai met some She-Ra cosplayers while browsing the show floor at the con. For those who don’t know, Mai is She-Ra/Adora in the Japanese dub of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power on Netflix. According to both Mai, and the fans she met in cosplay, she was super excited to see them and asked for photos. She and her translated were apparently very sweet. ^-^

And finally, what did Mai bring back as a souvenir from her time in the US? The only thing she posted about was the fact that her protein bar supply that she bought while in Chicago was starting to run low a few weeks after her return hahaha:

I visited the quaint town of Hitoyoshi in Kumamoto Prefecture to see the spots that have been featured in Natsume Yuujinchou. I mentioned in my NatsuYuu Tokyo Exhibition post that I would make a post that lists the places I went to, so here we go.

We drove to Hitoyoshi from Hakata; it was a three-hour drive, with six tunnels along the way... We stayed at this cute little dorm called Hitoyoshi Morino Hall - Females Only Inn (yes, this a plug for the dorm - it’s a great place to stay if you ever plan on going to Hitoyoshi!), and the owner’s husband was nice enough to bring my sister and me to a lot of the anime spots. 

Our first stop was Haruyama Bus Stop - the bus stop where Tanuma stood at in the second opening.

Inside the bus stop was this:

Really cute, right? NatsuYuu fans sure are something else.

Next, the husband brought us to Amemiya Shrine, which was featured in the fourth opening as well as the final two episodes of the fourth season. Baby Natsume used the shrine as his “hiding spot” and fell asleep there during a rainstorm.

The shrine was at the top of a mountain, so yeah... We had to climb up a steep flight of stairs, but it was definitely worth it. Inside the shrine was another book of friends, a stack of notebooks that were filled with visitors’ messages, and Nyanko-sensei.

Fun fact: Amemiya Shrine is located at Totoro’s Forest (Totoro no Mori)!

Then the husband brought us to Tengu Bridge, which was featured a number of times in the anime. Episode 5 of season 2, episode 2 of season 3, episode 10 of season 1 to name a few.... and these are just off the top of my head. 

After that, we briefly stopped by Bishamondo, which was by Tengu Bridge.

Next, we went to see the site where the Nanatsujiya Manjuu shop would be if it were a real shop. (When the husband brought us there, we were like ‘what?? are we?? supposed to be seeing???’ lmao)

Then it was Tenmangu Shrine, which was where Natori sat in the second opening. This was the final place the husband drove us to.

There were wooden plaques by the side where tons of people had written messages on, and inside the shrine itself were more of them.

After that, he dropped us off back at the dorms. We had our own car, so after a quick break, we drove out to Hitoyoshi Station, which was like 5 minutes away. The station was most prominently featured in episode 8 of season 2, if I’m not mistaken. There are 2 souvenir shops right across the street, and they sell NatsuYuu merch along with the local stuff. One of the shopkeepers was this really nice lady who gave us a book that lists all the real-life locations featured in the anime.

Then we drove to Okoba Station, which was the station that the Kogitsune went through when he visited Natsume in episode 7 of season 1. The station is up a hill and is filled from wall to wall with cards and messages from fans. Only 3 trains stop at the station throughout the day, so it was safe to walk along the train tracks and take photos there; Reiko stood near the train tracks in the opening of season 6.

(After this we went to an Aeon Mall and bought a NatsuYuu fanbook, but moving on --)

On the second day, we drove all the way to Kasamatsu Bridge, which was featured in the second and sixth openings. It’s about an hour away from Hitoyoshi, but it was definitely worth the trip.

After that, we went to Himawari-Tei, a restaurant in Hitoyoshi that gained traction among NatsuYuu fans after Inoue Kazuhiko and Horie Kazuma (Nyanko-sensei’s and Tanuma’s seiyuus respectively) ate there in 2011, but the shop closed early that day :( The ladies working there were telling us about how there weren’t any customers that day so they decided to close up 2 hours early...

Anyway. Hitoyoshi is a nice place to visit if you ever want to see what it’s like to live in the countryside in Japan. The people are soooo nice, and they love Natsume Yuujinchou so much you don’t even have to feel embarrassed about admitting that you came all the way there because of said series.... so yeah.

My Review of If It’s For My Daughter I’d Defeat the Demon Lord

How…?! *stares at the title*

Am I watching one of those Isekais that are everywhere nowadays? Oh, no I’m not. Then this must be one hell of a light novel for it to have this long of a title name. Yeah, like a lot of other folks, I got intrigued by the title. Actually, my first thought was if Maes Hughes from Full Metal Alchemist died his usual death and instead of staying dead, he went to another world and must defeat a demon lord in order to go back to be with his beloved daughter. Medea…what the flying hell was that? Come on, tell me I’m not the only one who thought that! The story is about a young male named Dale who happens to be a skilled adventurer. During one of his outings, he comes across a young girl. But this young girl is not like a regular human girl. As she has horns on her head, she’s known as a devil. But one of her horns is chipped which means she committed some sort of crime. But just look at this little girl!

Her only crime is looking so adorable! I mean come on, look at her. What crimes could she have possibly committed? Regardless, Dale just couldn’t leave her alone in the forest. By the looks of it, the girl’s father might have died protecting her so she’s all by herself. So Dale takes in the girl (who is named Latina). And now they’re living upstairs to a bar headed by Dale’s friends, Kenneth and Rita. Now being a sudden single parent is not going to be easy for Dale. For starters, Latina can only speak the language of devils. And secondly, what’ll happen if her devil side emerges or if certain groups find her offensive?! Well Dale is going to tackle this head on! Because for Latina, he would do anything, even defeat a demon lord! BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: As of the moment, Crunchyroll has streamed this. And seeing as this now officially has an English dub, it’s safe to say Crunchyroll has licensed it. As of today (11/24/2019), only two episodes are out. So far I have no issues with the dub. As for the sub, this is my first time listening to Latina’s seiyuu. And Dale…holy crap, this is a first in a long time! Nobuhiko Okamoto is playing someone who’s not a screaming psychopath! Here’s what you might recognize these folks from. JAPANESE CAST: *Dale is played by Nobuhiko Okamoto (known for Gladion on Pokemon SM, Accelerator on Index, Karma on Assassination Classroom, Rin on Blue Exorcist, Ryou on Food Wars, Usui on Maid-sama, and Bakugou on My Hero Academia) *Latina is played by Kanon Takao ENGLISH CAST: *Dale is played by Brandon Winckler (known for Eugeo on SAO: Alicization) *Latina is played by Ryan Bartley (known for Ram on Re:Zero, Gilda on The Promised Neverland, Mika on Love Live, Nina on Berserk 2016, and Rei on Evangelion [redub]) DISLIKED CHARACTER: Um…whoever caused Latina to be horribly depressed!

We’re supposed to protect this little girl’s smile. Devil or not, Latina caused pain to nobody! She did not need to have that psycho teacher chastise her in front of her classmates and cause her to almost commit suicide.

SHIPPING: I can’t say that there’s really anything ship-worthy here. I mean, there’s Latina’s classmate Rudy who seems to get all blushy around her. But they’re children, it’s cute. It almost reminds me of Hiro and Kisa from Fruits Basket. But I don’t think there’s anything else for me to mention here for…

…The love of God, please don’t do this! Yeah, we see this cute father/daughter relationship between Dale and Latina that many of us fear that this sweet little relationship is going to turn into something more…and go down a rather disgusting route. Obviously, this shouldn’t be taboo. Latina is NOT Dale’s real daughter, he just merely adopted her and took her in. It’s just that after the manga ending to Usagi Drop, many folks such as myself look at Dale and Latina and think, “For the love of God Dale, do not marry your devil daughter!” And now I’m just gonna look at some spoilers to hopefully debunk that horrible image in my head that is escalating into the anime version of Woody Allen and Soon-Yi.

He did it. Fuck. This cute anime is ruined. Dale x Latina. I’m a hard NO on that. ENDING: Halfway into the series, Dale and Latina go on a journey to Dale’s hometown to gather a few supplies and give Latina an opportunity to meet his parents, grandmother, and other family members. Several of the episodes, we get to see Latina at her utmost cutest hanging with doggy hybrids, wearing cute outfits, and learning many new things. After a few months away, Latina and Dale return to their home. And aside from Rita on the verge of giving birth, everything seems to be the same. Latina seems to have grown a lot during her trip. I sure hope the final episode wraps things up nicely…Eh!

In the final episode, Dale is visited by another traveler (and his ex), Helmine. Up to this point, we’ve only seen her in one episode and approximately 2 seconds in the opening theme. So she must be up to no good. Actually, she wants Dale to go with her on a mission to the royal capital (which we will not see because it’s the final episode). And then we get this dilemma that Latina notices, breast-size. Because Slutty McBigTits here makes Latina feel inferior. This is why we get a pouting face from Latina for some of the episode. I do give this moment some credit as we learn a little something about Latina’s mother because up to this moment we only know something about her father figure before he died. However, Latina’s mother is only brought up because Latina feels inferior knowing her mother has a petite frame and fears she’s going to be flat as an ironing board when she grows up. And then thinks that Dale has a thing for women like Busty McFlauntsItAll. Well it all gets resolved with some cute moment between Dale and Latina. Latina will be there waiting for Dale to return and Dale will be happy as hell to just hug his sweet Latina. So Dale leaves with Titty-Titty Bang-Bang (sorry, I had to get one more out)! We then see some random moments while Dale is away including some doggy hybrids coming to visit Latina and Rita going into labor and giving birth to…I don’t know what she had, I just know her baby came out healthy and happy. And we close with Dale coming home and Latina greeting him. This anime was just…okay. When I heard about this anime, I seriously wasn’t expecting a story like this. For one thing, I thought there would be more action, particularly involving a demon lord. I mean, the words “Demon Lord” are in the title. You’d think we get something like that happening! Like in the final two episodes we learn that there’s really a demon lord out there and he was the reason why he killed Latina’s father and banished her. In fact, we only hear about demon lords once in a while and then we stuff that to the side for more cutesy moments between Dale and his adopted devil daughter.

In fact, we rarely get any dramatic moments happening that much. The fourth episode however felt like a turning point in the show. And because of the dramatic moments surrounding Latina with her devil heritage, I thought there was going to be a major shift to more dramatic situations after Latina broke off her remaining horn and almost bled to death. Instead we are treated to more cutesy moments in another episode of, “My Little Demon Daughter Can’t Be This Cute”. Don’t get me wrong, there were some pretty serious moments like when Latina learns of human mortality compared to devils due to devils having twice the life-span of humans. But nothing as chilling as when a teacher called out Latina for being a devil and scaring the shit out of her.

I would say watch this anime just to see cute little devil girl, Latina. But 2019 has given us a boat-load of cute anime lolitas to fawn over like Filo and Raphtalia from Shield Hero, that fox Senko-san, and then absolute fan-favorite Nezuko from Demon Slayer. Yeah, Latina is probably bottom of that list now! For what it’s worth, it was an okay show. Not my favorite, but good to watch a cutesy devil girl. And an actual anime where Nobuhiko Okamoto is not a screaming hygena!

If you want to watch this anime, Crunchyroll has all 12 episodes available for streaming. The dub is slowly coming out Sunday mornings.

Name: Maaya Sakamoto (坂本 真綾) Birthday: 31st March 1980 Birthplace: Tokyo, Itabashi City Nicknames: Maaya Agency: fortunerest

Maaya Sakamoto actually began her career as a child actress joining Gekidan Komadori. Joining a troupe where studying was the main focus, she focused most of her time in the troupe doing CM songs and dubbing.

She got her first big break as the Hitomi Kanzaki, the main character of The Vision of Escaflowne. She also did the opening theme song Yakusoku wa Iranai and began her first radio show titled “Sakamoto Maaya no Naisho Banashi.”

In 2003, she also started her first actress role in the musical edition of Les Miserablesperforming as Eponine for 6 years straight until 2009.  She also made sporadic appearances as Junichi Okada’s ex-girlfriend in the TV drama Suekko Chonan Ane-Sannin.

In 2005, she wrote her first essay collection titled Idea..She also began to self-produce her own music from then onwards.

First role:

Her first big starring role as we mentioned earlier was Hitomi Kanzaki from The Vision of Escaflowne. While this wasn’t her first role, as she has done many roles as a kid, it was thanks to her role as Hitomi that she had her big break and at the same time, begin her career as a performing artiste.

Current season:

You can see her in the upcoming anime BEM, where she will be playing “the unidentified Girl”. She will also be voicing Elizabeth in another upcoming anime, To The Abandoned Sacred Beasts. Two Maaya Sakamotos in the upcoming season that you’d be spoilt for choice. She will also reprising her role as Annerose von Grunewald in The Legend of Galactic Heroes ~Die Neue These: The Stellar War later this year.

Famous Roles:

Lunamaria Hawke – Gundam Seed Destiny

Alright, let me get this character out of the way, first and foremost. I am the generation that grew up with Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny. So it’s natural for me to immediately put a voice to the character when you asked me what I think of when I hear Maaya Sakamoto. She was a great foil for the protagonist Shinn Asuka (who just so happens to be voiced by her husband Kenichi Suzumura) and they’re practically inseparable when it comes to later rendition of their characters in other media. Personally, I really enjoyed using her Gunner Zaku Warrior in Gundam games with that massive gun so she’s pretty special for me.

Shiki Ryougi – Garden of Sinners

Now if you asked me my favourite character voiced by Maaya however, it has gotta be Shiki Ryougi from Garden of Sinners. A friend of mine invited me to watch the newest Garden of Sinners movie many years back and I instantly fell in love with Maaya’s portrayal of Shiki. The mysterious aura surrounding her character is what really grabs you. She has this ability called Mystic Eyes of Death Perception where she by simply these lines in front of her, it could kill her opponents. She was such an iconic character for me I’d like to see Shiki again. Maybe playing Fate/Grand Order sounds great talking about this.

Aerith Gainsborough – Final Fantasy VII Series

Now I play a lot of games, so naturally, I had to mention Aerith. Back in my teenage days, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children were my jam and Aerith was one of many central characters in the series. Unlike the cold-hearted Shiki Ryougi, Aerith was the opposite end of that spectrum. She’s warm and full of life. Her interactions with Zack Fair (who, also coincidentally is voiced by her husband Kenichi Suzumura too) in Crisis Core, always looking forward to his next visit.  As for the fate of Aerith in Final Fantasy VII? I believe the story tells itself.

Music

As mentioned earlier, she began her career singing the opening theme song for The Vision of Escaflowne titled Yakusoku wa Iranai. At the same time, it began her career with Yoko Kanno being her main producer until 2013 when she decided to part ways and produce her own music.

One of her more recent tracks was the opening theme song from the popular Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Chapter, CLEAR. She also sang Platina for the original Cardcaptor Sakura as well, it is her 5th single. I love how this song succeeds from Platina and follows the same style which brings back memories as I myself watched the series as a child. It’s a great successor to Platina.

[VIDEO] Anata wo Tamotsu Mono/Mada Ugoku

Another of her more recent songs, this single in particular is one I have personally purchased. I’m a big fan of Ghost in the Shell, and Maaya actually played Motoko Kusanagi in the recent Ghost in the Shell: ARISE series succeeding Atsuko Tanaka. These songs are the opening theme songs for the TV anime and the film versions of the series. The world-view of these songs are so perfectly in-tune with the elements of the series due to Cornelius’ electric tones and dissonant elements, topped off with Maaya’s vocals giving it a very haunting, GITS song.

We can’t end this section off without mentioning Triangular from Macross Frontier. One of the most iconic songs of the series-and it’s not even by the songstresses in the series! While I’ve only seen bits and pieces of the TV series at all but the song is so famous even I understand the impact of the song itself. Did I mention it won the 2008 Animation Kobe award for the best theme song and the best selling single from Maaya? You absolutely have to go listen to it. Listening to it will make you understand how amazing it is.

She has many notable fans in the industry such as Motoo Fujiwara from BUMP OF CHICKEN, Shoko Nakagawa and even seiyuu Minori Suzuki who is well known to have gone to see Maaya’s concert just one day before the audition to become the next Macross star even.

Personal Impression

I really love her clear voice, plain and simple. She is one voice you will cannot get tired of listening. Sure sometimes she is said to lack range because she only has one type of voice. But when you sound so good in one voice, do you really need any other? She has a simply perfect voice that fits someone who’s emotionless like Shiki Ryouki or Motoko Kusanagi.

There are people like Koichi Yamadera who can basically do anything and everything and sometimes we have the Maaya Sakamoto’s who just have a wonderful speaking voice, she was practically born to be a seiyuu. I’d love to listen to her narrate forever.

And on top of being able to sound perfect during afureko, she sings even better. No wonder Yoko Kanno picked her and worked with her for so many songs. With such a deadly combination of Yoko Kanno and Maaya Sakamoto, we were blessed with so many timeless songs, I’m ever so thankful.

I recently heard that she even released an essay collection titled Idea.. For someone so eloquent as Maaya, you’d probably assume her essay collection would be a thrill to check out. So much so that I’ve been looking around just to see how it is.

Dear Girl ~Stories~ the Movie 3

Caught the movie the same day it opened in Japanese cinemas! Huge spoilers and movie summary under the cut! 

I have never seen the first two DGS Movies but I know it is full of crack and of HiroC bullying OnoD. Boy, I was so right! The movie from start to end was hilarious! Poor, poor OnoD! 

The movie opened with HiroC and a sleepy OnoD whispering in their hotel room their theme for this ‘episode’ of DGS - “I did not bring my passport.” HiroC said that they will be going ‘overseas’ for this episode, hence why they are up bright and early to rush to Haneda airport. 

Landing at the Kingdom of Kochi

Of course, they did not go overseas at all but travelled to Kochi, in which they have reimagined it as The United Kingdom of Kochi (UKK). OnoD was so peeved about it, and they had to go through a fake immigration where the officer asks them English questions like:

“What is the purpose of your trip zeyo?”

 > HiroC & OnoD: Sightseeing zeyo.

“What is your occupation zeyo?”

> Japanese famous voice actor zeyo!

If they do not use zeyo at the end of their sentence, the officer pretended not to understand them at all haha! 

The Kingdom’s Currency

After clearing ‘immigration’, HiroC introduced the UKK currency - zeyo. In which 100-yen is equivalent to 100-zeyo. The cast actually made coins and note for UKK. The 10,000 note had OnoD’s portrait and a moustache on it! It was so hilarious! 

First, they decided to stop for a quick bite! Since Kochi City is famous for katsuo (tuna), they visited an eating place and tried katsuo tataki and some fried candied katsuo fries! Both stall vendors kept to the game and pretence of dealing in zetto, instead of Japanese yen! OnoD was screaming in aghast hahaha! 

Sightseeing in Kochi City 1: Harimaya Bridge

They then got changed into the national outfit of the UKK, which is literally a samurai outfit! Then, they went sightseeing! 

First, they decided to visit the famous Kochi bridge - Harimaya-bashi, a hilariously tiny, 20-meter red arched bridge. Along the way to the bridge, OnoD was gushing excitedly that this bridge is as famous as America’s Rainbow Bridge and the UK’s London Bridge. But silly OnoD mistakenly called London Bridge ‘Big Ben’ hahahaha!!!  

Everyone thought it was going to be a huuuuuuge bridge but no. It was tiny af, even HiroC was wondering how on earth it got famous. They made OnoD do a voice recording for the DGS ringtone (?) download, and it was hilarious! OnoD got super embarrassed! 

They also recorded some random bridge-crossing footage for the trailer, which is super funny! 

Sightseeing in Kochi City 2: Kochi Castle  

The team then visited Kochi Castle in their samurai outfits next! They passed the statue of Itagaki Taisuke, and HiroC joked that Itagaki-san’s raised hand must be representing the length of Kochi’s katsuo! Hahahha!  

They also visited the statue of Sakamoto Ryoma, and OnoD pretended to voice-over as Sakamoto while HiroC chatted to the statue. 

They posed for pictures with the castle at the backdrop and made OnoD say more cheesy lines! OnoD wanted to visit the castle but HiroC trolled OnoD, saying that he can’t visit the castle because the current King of Kochi lives there. OnoD then asked who are those visitors at the viewing deck then, and HiroC said they are staff serving the King lol. The only way OnoD can enter the castle is if he becomes King. Thus, this gave birth to OnoD’s resolve to be King (now you know why the part 2 poster mentioned about being King zeyo). 

Sightseeing in Kochi City 3: Lunch

The cast settled down for lunch, and ordered everything on the menu with katsuo. Two of the cast members only had saba-sushi. 

Sightseeing in Kochi City 4: Katsurahama Beach

They went to the beach afterwards and made OnoD shout his promise to be King of Kochi to the sea! It was a short scene but pretty funny! Poor OnoD had to run a lot! 

Sightseeing in Kochi City 5: Tosa-token Center 

Kochi is also famous for their Tosa fighting dogs! They sat through a short 3-minute dog fight. I think a lot of audience members got visibly uncomfortable seeing the two dogs fight. Even OnoD started tearing up and HiroC looked really uncomfortable watching it. At the end of the fight, HiroC had to hit OnoD roughly on the chest to snap him out of his depression at seeing dogs fight. But they got to see Tosa puppies and they are HUGE!!!!! A puppy shook paws with OnoD, to his delight! 

Sightseeing in Kochi City 6: OnoD’s Family Shop & Home

Next, they visited OnoD’s family shop - Ono Furniture Store! HiroC trolled OnoD that MamaD was waiting outside the shop for him, but instead it was a punk-looking lady riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle. OnoD cannot believe that lady is MamaD and she rode off after exchanging some hilarious words with the two. 

The cast then entered the shop, and we saw framed pictures of idol-like OnoD on the wall! The cast also decided to purchase some furniture! UchiP decided to buy some furniture for the office and some super tacky indoor slipper stands that is shaped like a Wing Chun martial artist might use to practice fighting (Ace of Asia reference), in which 3 lucky movie viewers get to win! One girl said “But..I don’t need it.” a little too loudly, which made the whole theatre laugh. The cast explored the shop and OnoD kept encouraging them to buy something, especially the huge vase that is on sale (refer to part 2 poster). 

Since no one is at the shop, they then decided to pop by OnoD’s home to greet his parents! The scene opened with OnoD looking embarrassed af in his living room haha! MamaD and PapaD had masks on, and us audience members also got a mask as a gift!

We got to see pictures of OnoD when he was in elementary school (HE WAS SO CUTE OMG), and trophies from his seiyuu career. MamaD shared a bit of all the mementos of her son, and could remember every single picture, autograph and magazine. We can see she is OnoD’s biggest supporter. 

While MamaD prepared dinner, HiroC went to OnoD’s childhood bedroom. He then showed us some of his very old anime collection, and suddenly went to dig through his study desk! He found an old cassette player and his first generation gameboy console, which HiroC agreed that it was super nostalgic! Suddenly, OnoD opened the lowest drawer to reveal lots of old academic textbooks and paper, and started digging behind frantically to...PULL OUT A 2005 COPY OF PLAYBOY MAGAZINE!!!!! OH MY GOSH, everyone started clapping in the theatre as HiroC flipped though the magazine while OnoD shared about when he got this magazine (he was 25 years old then) and how he managed to hide it all these while. Thank god the magazine had mosiac over it, but yes - naked women! 

After that, they went down and MamaD had made a feast for the cast and crew! She even made OnoD’s favourite tamagoyaki & HiroC’s Hamburg steak. OnoD got emotional as he heard his mom talk about him, and they celebrated his birthday with cake! 

As part 1 of the movie wrapped up, OnoD invited HiroC to stay overnight at his house. But...did HiroC stay overnight? We will only find out in part 2 of the movie! 

We then got to see teasers of part 2 as well as some funny behind-the-scenes footage during the credits! 

It was a really funny movie and my cheeks hurt from laughing and grinning so much! The theatre also sold official movie goods and DGS expo goods as well, but I didn’t get any! 

I can’t wait to watch part 2 but I am not sure if I will be able to catch it as I will not be in Japan during the first few days of its release! But, I shall try!

I know this isn’t what the original ask is about, but I actually have looked into firsthand accounts of Japanese lesbians (because I want to visit Japan someday and I was curious about how it is). While there are apparently a lot of lesbians, apparently it’s hard for them to be taken seriously if they’re out at work. And not to mention how in the entertainment industry they want the women to seem available for men to project their fantasies onto (hence why Love Live will never have actual gay relationships </3 glad we got so much KanaMari though).

You apologize.

Your eyes widen in sheer surprise.

You smile, thanking him.

The two of you move to another room.

You look around.

“It’s a test room. Customers can use this place to test out the intruments before purchase. There’s nobody here right now, so the owner said we can make ourselves comfortable.”

You ask Shuu if he plans to buy a new violin.

“No, I’m not buying anything. I like my current violin.”

You seem confused, wondering why you’re here then.

“You really are a fool, aren’t you?”

Shuu pulls you closer.

*Rustle*

“To kill some time, obviously.”

You get slightly flustered. 

“It’s a perfect way to combat the boredom, no? It’s muh more comfortable than having to wander around outside. On top of that...This place is soundproof. You can scream as loud as you want, nobody will hear. I’m sure you like the sound of that as well? ーー That being said, we have to think about your health. I doubt you’re already back in top shape, so I won’t do anything if you don’t want me to.”

You hesitate. 

“Hm~? In that case, you want it?”

You go quiet.

“Cat got your tongue? I seem to recall a certain someone was displeased because they were being ‘used’?  Clearly tell me what you want. Right now, I can actually live up to your wishes. ...What do you want from me?”

You ask for his fangs. 

“Hehe...I hate being ordered around, but hearing you beg for it isn’t bad at all. Especially when it’s the words ‘Suck my blood, please’.”

Shuu bites you.

“Mmh...Nn...I said you could make all the noise you want, remember? It’s not like anyone but me can hear.”

You get embarrassed.

Nakamura Shugo talk event at Ginansai

Osaka City University invited Nakamura Shugo (VA of Kuga Issei) for an hour-long talk show at their school festival, naturally drawing a decent group of his fans. I arrived at the campus with some time to spare as I wanted to check out the students’ exhibits and stalls as well (first time at a gakusai!), but an hour before the show started the seating area was already half full, so I went to secure a seat for myself. It was still pretty decent spot, about 10-12m away from the stage, so I could see everything clearly.

About 20 minutes before the show, the MC’s asked the audience to volunteer questions for Shugon by filling in a form and placing it in a blind box for Shugon to draw from later. I didn’t submit anything as I was too lazy to leave my seat ^q^ Then, about 5 minutes before the show, Drive A Live played over the speakers and there was a buzz among the audience. Everyone chanted “315!!” at the part before the chorus wwwwww As expected, there were a lot of Idolm@ster side M fans in the crowd. And quite a number of guys too! You can tell from the turnout at his events that Shugon is quite popular with the dudes as well due to his huge, sunny personality :)

The show started and the MC’s invited Shugon on stage while we cheered and clapped. Shugon was 50000000 watts right from the get go ;w; He thanked us all for coming and waved at us with the BIGGEST grin, so cute T_T He was also holding something that looked like a statue of a cat in his palm, and explained that one of the students on the organising team called “Ume-chan” (audience: “Ume-chan?! Umehara?!!!) had made a shisa just for him, and he loved it so much that he couldn’t put it down www

MC: Who's from Osaka? Audience: *two-thirds put their hand up* MC: Oh wow, a lot of people not from here... Anyone from overseas? Me: ..... *raises hand* MC: !!! Where are you visiting from? Me: Australia. Audience: ?!!!!!!! Shugon: Take me back with you!!!! (>∀<) Me: jgflkglsdg;kfd

And then my mind went blank for a minute as I tried to process what had just happened.... But, moving on. Shugon said that it was his first time in a school festival and that he was super tempted to check out the event, as even from the briefing room he could hear how lively everything was.

Shugon: I asked my manager if I could go outside but they were like, "NO." And I was like, "...Gomen (´・ω・｀)" Audience: Cute.......

The hosts were both from the keion club, so Shugon, being a music nerd, had a lot of fun talking to them. I only remember this part vaguely (my mind was still reeling from Shugon asking me to take him home LOL) but I think they were discussing how Shugon got into music. For anyone not in the know, before becoming a seiyuu Shugon was part of an indie band called Akasaka Folk Village. He said that when he was younger (school-aged, I think?) he listened to regular pop music like everyone else, and it wasn't until he graduated from high school that he started to learn about a wider range of music genres.

When asked about his impression of Osaka, Shugon said that he's been here so many times (for work) that he considers it his third hometown, after Okinawa and Tokyo. He loves that everyone is so warm and friendly, and that all the food here is delicious, especially konamono (someone in the audience held up a Kaerru plush ww) like okonomiyaki and takoyaki, BBQ, and sushi.

After some time they moved on to the Q&A section. Shugon pulled out questions from the box and handed them over to the MC's to be read out.

Q: You obviously use your throat a lot in your work. How do you care for your throat? Shugon: I don't have ANY scientific backing lol, but I mix manuka honey in water and drink that every night. Honey's really good for the throat, and manuka honey is the best. It comes in different ratings, and the higher the rating the better. But the stronger ones are also really expensive! You don't need the expensive ones. Even regular manuka honey works really well.** Oh, during SQP my throat was in bad shape right before the concert, and when I told my manager they gave me a throat candy from Taiwan. After taking it my throat recovered immediately and I could sing even higher notes than usual!

Q: What kind of school life did you have? Shugon: In elementary school I was really shy and a crybaby, the type of kid that would run crying to his mother. In middle school I started to take an interest in sports, and you know how there are sports tests every year? In my third year I actually ranked second in the test!

Q: Any advice for students about to take their entrance exams? Shugon: I didn't do much studying as a student.... Whenever I'm invited to schools or unis for work, I see the students doing their best and think, ah, I should've tried harder in school! Sorry, what was the question? www MC: Advice for exams ww Shugon: Oh yeah! Good luck! Everyone, let's put our hands together to wish this person all the luck! *claps*

He then asked the MC's how they take part in the school festival as the keion club, and they replied that they usually perform songs by Back Number. MC: But not many people listen to Back Number... Shugon: Back Number's really good! Everyone listens to their songs! Even in Australia! *gestures to me* Me: !!??????????????? *doesn't actually know Back Number but shook that he still remembers me*

MC: I write sometimes, but the next day I look at my work and think, "Man, this is embarrassing!" Shugon: I know!!!! I think this happens to everyone who’s tried writing. It's usually late at night when you're struck by inspiration and start writing, and at the time you think, "Oh boy, I've got something AMAZING!" but the next morning you look at it and regret everything. MC: Even the song titles can be lame... Shugon: Yeah, you're like "Why did I think this was cool?"

Q: When you're traveling to/from work, what kind of music do you listen to? Shugon: I used to do that, but not anymore. These days I set aside time just to listen to music. At night when I'm at home, I sit in front of the speakers and think "Which songs should I listen to tonight?" and just sit quietly for hours, listening. Lately I've been playing a lot of Sakanaktion (and another female artist whose name I forgot ;;).

Q: Can you share any interesting backstage stories from the recording for Side M anime? Shugon: Honestly, it has the atmosphere of a boys school. The recording studios are usually quite small, but a lot of actors are involved, so it can get kinda cramped and hot even with the air-con on full blast. A lot of people bring food/snacks to share and during break time we're all stuffing our faces. Uchida Yuuma, who plays Kaoru (the audience starts to giggle already ww) will just start doing push ups in the middle of a conversation, but we're so used to it that we just keep talking ww Shugon: Ishikawa Kaito, who plays the producer, is really into training, and he showed me a new workout move *sit sideways on chair and bends body into a V shape, where only his bum is on the chair and his upper body and legs are lifted* I can't do it well right now, but this is supposed to be good for your abs >< And oh, recently I went to Disneyland with Itou Kento (VA of Hazama-sensei) and we had so much fun! I remember standing in a queue full of couples where we were the only pair of guys.... It was a very long queue www

The last segment was a rock-paper-scissors game between Shugon and the audience, and the last 3 standing would receive a signed board from Shugo. I lost very early on :( But I saw one of the winning girls break down and cry when she realised that she had won. I feel happy for her ;w; Oh, in the first round, Shugon said something like “I’m gonna use rock!!”, which he actually did wwww In the second round the same thing happened, and when a huge portion of the audience got eliminated he was like “Why won’t you guys believe me?!” wwww

Lastly, Shugon promoted the side M anime and Proani. When he mentioned Issei, a girl in the audience held up a pair of Lizz-kuns (of the twins). Shugon noticed and thanked her for bringing them, aww.

Shugon left us with a farewell message, joking about how he had so much fun that it didn’t feel like work at all, and thanked us again for coming to see him. He also asked us to go and spend lots of money on the food stalls and exhibits to help the uni raise funds since the talk show itself was free ww As he was leaving the stage Reason!! played over the speakers and the audience screamed... Shugon went "Oh!!!" and sang just a little bit "by your side~♪" and we all DIED ><

Shugon has some photos of the event on his twitter (I’m somewhere in the 2nd photo, gdi.) I still have butterflies in my stomach when I recall the event.... Shugon was just so down-to-earth and radiant, and everyone had a great time. I personally will never forget that Nakamura Shugo spoke to me directly, even for just a few tiny moments *____* I’m sure he created some amazing memories for everyone who was present.

**Let me put on my pharmacist hat for a minute... He's partly right - honey is good for throat care (among many other uses) due to its antibacterial and healing properties. While manuka honey is marketed as being superior to regular honey, the scientific evidence so far is inconclusive. Manuka honey is definitely good for you, but so is any raw honey. right, so, i take care of my mother? she is disabled, has a blood cancer, and is on 24/7 supplemental oxygen as a part of treatment for COPD. 

so, she’s been in the hospital all week, because even the mildest of colds tend to turn into hospital trips. this morning i got a phone call to tell me that she’s in the ICU hooked to a BiPAP machine after a minor accident last night. i’m not taking my germ factory of a six-year-old to visit the ICU, so uh. 

i guess i just sit here next to my phone and the house phone, and wait to hear from.. someone. at some point. 

and pay the bills early, in an attempt to shut down some of the paranoid anxiety.

and also lose my mind under the weight of pants-shitting fear.

MAL tells me that after Houseki no Kuni, i finally watched Tamako Love Story? which i kind of can’t believe i hadn’t watched before, considering how much i enjoyed Tamako Market. hundreds of episodes is just fine, but committing to a movie, so much too much can’t do it. anyway, Mochizou is really the very Best Boy. he deserves better, but as long as he’s happy, it’s okay. it’s a simple nice little movie. KyoAni makes me weak, and can make me love anything, really. 

neeeext i dove into Kekkai Sensen. it was.. weird? jazz and rock-ish BGM and OP/ED songs, plus the bit of scifi/fantasy blend while taking down bad guys stylishly gave me this Cowboy Bebop feeling. episodic in the same way Bebop is, too. i don’t think it’s gonna change anyone’s life, but it was good! Kekkai Sensen & BEYOND was more of the same, really. a fun stylish time. it made me want to check out Kyousou Giga, because that has the same director? and also it gave me BUMP OF CHICKEN, which.. i mean. that’s one hell of a band name.

usually, my scores for shows are wildly high for personal reasons, or lower than average because at this point i am easily bored by Anime Bullshit For Anime Bullshit Reasons. NHK ni Youkoso! kind of surprised me. i don’t think i connected to it much, outside of “ah.. yeah that’s how it is” thoughts, but it was just.. great. intensely human in the weird way that i like, with diversions into what in the actual shit territory. i think the animation and overall presentation hold up nicely even 10+ years later, so that was neat too. probably watch it if you’ve ever been a shut-in, or felt like you’d like to be one. 

i will always watch historical Japanese anything, because i am a writhing sack of weeb nonsense, so Nobunaga Concerto was always going to please me. apparently, it got skipped when it was airing because EVERYONE HATES CGI U GAIZ? but all around, not a bad show. the CGI wasn’t.. wonderful, but it wasn’t ugly either. i’ll forgive anything for historical context and period clothing, though. and hey, if you love Miyano Mamoru, he plays the lead? 

speaking of seiyuu, i’m pretty sure i had Robotics;Notes on my list just because of Kimura Ryouhei playing a main character. i really can’t think of anything worth watching about this show, outside of the gross internet-person blonde girl. she was pretty excellent. there were robots? uhh.. sure. it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t.. much of anything else, either. 

kids, after the meh rain comes the sun, and the sun is Ballroom e Youkoso. not gonna lie, i love the manga, so i was very much looking forward to this show. it did not disappoint in the least. all the same energy and drama and sweeping action, captured by Production I.G., just like I was hoping. it’s pretty annoying that all i’ve seen about this show is HUR HUR THE NECKS ARE SO LONG jokes? an elongated neck is part and parcel with an ideal silhouette in competitive ballroom dance, and shitgoddamn, do i love a sports anime that nails and emphasizes pertinent details for effect. this is honestly a super-strong adaptation, and seeing the cover art when i went to get the URL for the link just made me want to watch it again, for that giddy feeling when something goes just right for the characters. please ignore the shitbird jokes, because mainstream anime fans can’t handle anything enjoyed unironically, and have fun. also, Pikorin playing a low-energy character is a good time. 

i don’t think i need to say that Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan is good, but fuck. it’s so good. like, hopefully you can speed read if your Japanese isn’t great, because there is some overlapping dialogue sometimes, and visual gags involving signs, but. it was funny, and easy to watch for me, and i just. i wish everybody loved this show as much as i do. it was kind of a given for me, because Kamiya Hiroshi is my seiyuu husbando, but still. Hosoyan is in there too, playing a yankii dude and that’s always great. just. if you want a dumb gag show, here you go, it’s good. 

dang. i took a lot of breaks writing this, because i wanted to keep the tone consistent, and now i’m just... even more tired. my phone still hasn’t rung. rang? rungrang. 

right now, i’m keeping up with Koi wa Ameagari no You ni weekly, and that’s good and cute and soothing. in between, i’m trying to finally finish all of Cardcaptor Sakura, because there’s a new sequel airing right now too. didn’t expect Osaka-ben in my magical girl show, but here we are, and it’s pretty calming and nice.

However, since I’d only seen him about three times in my life, the biggest way his death affected me was through my mother. It took her a while to get over my grandfather’s death, so it changed the way I behaved around her during that time. 10. Been depressed: Yes. 11. Gotten drunk and thrown up: Exactly once, because I made the mistake of keeping pace with my uncle in Korea who takes soju shots like a champ. This also happened to be the night before Lunar New Year, so I got chewed out by my aunt (older sister of my uncle) once she realized why I was so lethargic during the festivities. _(:3 」∠)_ I don’t regret it though, because before that I had never been hungover before and was wondering what my limit was, haha.
