this really cool shot of a c-17 I got at the airport on Monday! with a plane in the background (im not good with the regional jets so idk what that is) there was also a presidential helicopter but I didn’t get a photo of it, left by the time we made it to the ramp

The C-32, often nicknamed the Air Force Two (though that name is subjective it’s just common for it) was also there and I had NO IDEA beforehand. There’s always some random plane in this spot and I was like HUH??????? the prez was in town so that’s why there’s so much military

pretty awesome 777-200! Among the biggest that come in here. unfortunately starting next year they end their service and will be replaced w the 787 :(

Some American Airlines action at New York La Guardia. ⁣ ⁣ American is one of the iconic airlines at La Guardia thanks to the long relationship American has with the airport- going back to the late 1930s when New York mayor Fiorello La Guardia convinced C.R. Smith to move American Airlines' headquarters from Chicago to an empty hangar at a nascent airport in Flushing, Queens, that would one day bear the mayor's name. ⁣ ⁣ In those days, the main airport for the New York City area was Newark, and it was a point of contention with Mayor La Guardia that passenger air traffic and air mail bound for NYC arrived in New Jersey! ⁣ ⁣ American trialed passenger flights to Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn but Newark was simply closer to business centers in Manhattan. American then worked with New York City on expanding the North Beach Airport on the Queens waterfront to take advantage of the new Queens-Midtown Tunnel to Manhattan. Because American had worked closely with the city of New York, the airline was given prime space at the new airport. In fact, the first Admiral's Club opened in 1939 at LGA. ⁣ ⁣ When the paperwork to serve liquor there was drawn up, a judge refused to approve it as "Admirals Club" made it sound like a Navy facility. N8001N spools up on 18L for departure. ⁣ ⁣ This particular A319 is American’s very first Airbus A319, delivered to the airline on 22 July 2013. I remember being at DFW Founders' Plaza quite often in those days hoping to get a shot of the first American A319. Doesn't seem all that long ago but that was nine years ago!⁣ ⁣ Procured as the replacement for the MD-80, the effects of a newer generation of technology over the stalwart MD-80 are tremendous- the A319 has nearly 50% of the fuel burn of the MD-80 for the same number of passengers on a given route. Pilots I’ve spoken with who converted to the A319 from the MD-80 have remarked that the A319 is a “less labor intensive aircraft to fly”.
