saw character etymologies
so etymology has always been an armchair interest of mine, and i think it’s always interesting to see how the names that writers choose for their characters reflect the character’s personality or narrative arc! with all that said, i’ve done a good bit of research into the name meanings and origins of various saw characters, and i’ve been meaning to share my findings for awhile! so here we are. this post isn’t going to cover every single major character in the franchise, just the ones i’ve looked into so far (and could fit into one post)!
Tumblr media
of COURSE we have to start with adam!! he’s pretty damn unique in that he’s had no less than THREE last names over the course of the franchise— radford in the original screenplay, faulkner in the first movie (as confirmed by producers, but never spoken or seen within the movies), then retroactively changed to stanheight in one of the hoffman movies. faulkner-stanheight has since been adopted as adam’s canon last name, both by the fandom and (at least somewhat) by the powers that be; in the 2014 tenth anniversary q&a panel, leigh whannell’s name card listed him as playing adam faulkner-stanheight.
so, the breakdown goes:
adam- first man, “man from the red earth.” of course, it’s hard to ignore the biblical connotations of this name— we’ll see a lot of biblical names here, so i would assume that we’re MEANT to make those connections. in adam’s case, he literally IS the first man we meet in the saw franchise, and his life and death have far-reaching consequences for most every other main character in the franchise. it’s also fitting that leigh, the progenitor of the series, would name his self-insert adam.
radford- an alternate spelling of redford, which simply means “ford of the red river.” a lot of characters in the hoffman movies have these sorts of geological names, but it’s slightly less common in the amanda trilogy. a ford is a place to safely cross a body of water, somewhat akin to a bridge. the red earth/red river connection is interesting, too. much has been made of james wan’s love for the color red and the way it’s used in his movies, and we see that in saw, as well— the movies are overwhelmingly blue and green, which only makes the red of the apprentices’ cloaks, billy’s eyes, and all the blood stand out more. afaik, nobody’s ever said why adam’s name was changed from radford to faulkner, so i guess we’ll never know!
faulkner- this is literally just the old english word for “falconer,” someone who trains and uses falcons to hunt. adam loves animals, so it’s nice to see that reflected somewhat in his name. additionally, you could view this as a reflection of his job and his attitude— as a photographer, he keeps himself at a distance and observes or scouts from afar, instead of getting right up in the middle of things, similar to how a falconer would use their bird to assist them with hunting.
stanheight- presumably, this name was added in the later movies because the last name faulkner had been forgotten about— which makes sense, given that we never SEE the name faulkner anywhere in the movie. stanheight is another geographic name, meaning “stone heights.” shocking! this name gives me the same sort of distant, watch-from-afar vibes that faulkner does, and i think the two complement each other in a really interesting way.
next up is the gordon family, starting with my beloved lawrence <3
Tumblr media
he’s an interesting (but not TOTALLY unique) case of a saw character who owes his name, at least partially, to another franchise. but we’ll get into that momentarily!
lawrence means “shining one” and originates from the roman city of laurentium, known for its laurel trees. the romans are also the ones who popularized using laurel wreaths as a symbol of status or exaltation! all very fitting for a high and mighty doctor like lawrence. the “shining one” epithet can apply in multiple ways— lawrence is the lightbringer of the first movie in that he has control over the light switch, but you can also read that as him becoming john kramer’s best/favorite apprentice. lawrence’s name ALSO serves as a nice reflection of diana’s, but we’ll get into that later as well. for a more christian/biblical read on his name, there IS a saint lawrence, who was also active in ancient rome. he was martyred by being pressed over a hot gridiron, and is considered the patron saint of cooks, comedians, butchers, archives/libraries, deacons, and the poor. patron saint of butchers is pretty raw, given lawrence’s eventual apprentice status, but i don’t think any of saint lawrence’s other correspondences apply to our lawrence quite so easily/obviously.
gordon is a scottish surname, meaning “fortress.” he’s a very reserved, guarded individual, so that perfectly fits him— but in lawrence’s case, the name gordon has another origin, too! leigh whannell is famously a wes craven enthusiast, and in craven’s a nightmare on elm street part 3: dream warriors, we’re introduced to a new character in... doctor neil gordon. now, leigh has never (to my knowledge) confirmed that lawrence’s last name was lifted from this movie/character, but i don’t think it’s a HUGE leap to make that assumption, given that both characters are doctors and whannell is such an avowed craven stan.
moving right along through the gordon family, we’ve got alison:
Tumblr media
alison is a norman french/germanic name meaning “of a noble kind.” clearly, this has a lot of thematic resonance with lawrence’s name meaning, and as we’ll find out in a moment, with diana’s as well. what a well-named family!
(we aren’t going to get into kerry and rigg in this post, but since kerry shares her first name with alison, obviously this applies to her too. why both kerry and rigg share their first names with other established characters, i’ll never know.)
rounding out the gordon family, we have diana!!
Tumblr media
those of you who are familiar with roman mythology, have read rick riordan, and/or have taken a middle school social studies class in the united states might remember that diana is the name of the roman goddess of the moon, closely analogous with the greek goddess artemis. literally, the name diana means “divine” or “godesslike,” which you might expect from the origin. diana’s name combines the nobility of alison’s with the roman influence of lawrence’s! god i’ll never get over the gordon family etymology. great stuff.
we’ll next move onto the kramer family— john, jill, and gideon. we’ll look at amanda here, as well.
Tumblr media
john is an anglicization of the hebrew name yohanan, meaning “graced by god.” i would hardly call john kramer’s life graced, considering just about every bad thing that you can imagine happens to him over the course of it, but alas! one could make the argument that this could refer to john taking on the role of a judge, baptist, and/or “re-creator” to his test subjects and apprentices— deciding that he has been “graced” from above with the authority to do that. and indeed, the bible does feature a john the baptist, said to have performed jesus’ baptism. many people who look at the saw franchise in biblical terms see john as the god figure of the series, which is the reading i usually take, as well.
kramer, meanwhile, finds its origin in both high and low german, and referred to traveling merchants. nowadays, the name is mostly interpreted to mean “merchant”or “peddler.” you could connect this to the wide array of businesses that john has owned or been involved with, or the idea that that he’s “selling” his philosophy!
Tumblr media
jill is most commonly understood to be latin in origin and means “youthful.” she certainly is much younger than john, and you could draw parallels between her name and her relationship to/with amanda!
tuck, variously given as norman, english, or scottish, apparently has its roots in WAY early norse. this website gives tuck’s origin as a shortened form of the name “thorketill,” which references the norse god thor and “ketill,” the word for a cauldron. there’s some connection to be made between jill’s medical career and a cauldron as an object you could associate with making medicine, i suppose. but in all likelihood, jill was given the last name tuck because tuck is also the surname of leigh whannell’s wife. which frankly is no less baffling to me, but he did what he had to do i suppose!
no picture for gideon, sadly, but his name is also hebrew in origin, and comes from Gidon, referring to a great warrior. more literal interpretations find gideon can mean “hewer” or “he with a stump for a hand,” but i doubt this name was chosen with those interpretations in mind.
i started working on this post on a mandy monday.... and here she is ❤️
Tumblr media
amanda means “lovable” or “worthy of love.” given that so much of amanda’s character arc centers around her desire to find someone who will show her love and compassion, this is both a very fitting name and an absolutely HEARTBREAKING one. amanda also shares with lawrence the distinction of being named after a nightmare on elm street character— in her case, amanda krueger, ALSO introduced in the third elm street movie. amanda k was a nun who was captured and assaulted by disturbed, violent prison/asylum inmates, leading to the birth of freddy krueger and amanda’s subsequent death by suicide. that idea of innocence being taken advantage of and birthing great evil as a result is something we see played out in amanda young’s arc, too.
in the original screenplay for the first movie, amanda was given the last name “denlon,” which of course was later given to lynn and jeff. so we’ll save that for those two!
as for her surname... well. it’s young. we all know what that means. we often conflate the idea of youth with concepts of naivety, innocence, or being childlike, and these are all ideas that we see reflected in amanda’s arc throughout her trilogy.
before we move onto characters introduced in the later movies, we’ll take a minute to look at some stragglers from the first movie who don’t show up again.
Tumblr media
first up we have zep, a character who goes almost COMICALLY unremembered and undiscussed, given his role in the first movie and the entire series’ theme song using his name.
zep is a nickname, of course, and likely refers to the floor cleaning agent of the same name, given that zep was a hospital orderly.
his real name is shepard, as in “person who guards and watches over sheep.” this ties in nicely with his hospital job, and it also serves him ironically, as his “guardianship” over alison and diana is anything but. the bible is also rife with allegories about shepherds and sheep, so you could draw the connection between zep being a proto-pseudo-apprentice to john and him being a shepherd for john’s message.
hindle is an english compound name, and when you translate those component parts, you get “valley of the hind,” a hind being a female deer. this also has a peaceful, pastoral sound to it, which both reinforces zep’s job description and ironically contrasts his true disposition and attitude.
Tumblr media
ah, good old david tapp, who (i believe) has the honor of being the saw character who’s been in the most video games!
david is yet another hebrew name, meaning “beloved.” king david, the second king of israel, is a very important figure in both judaism and christianity.
tapp, while not a conventional or common last name, sounds an awful lot like tapping a phone, doesn’t it? i think both tapp and sing’s last names were chosen to call to mind ideas of surveillance, detective work, and other “police procedural” associations. tapp DOES have an old english root, where it was used to refer to a tall or thin person... but this was a nickname based on a tap, as in the object you use to get sap out of a tree. so one way or another, tapp’s last name is VERY literal.
Tumblr media
steven has its origins in greek, where it means “crown,” “reward,” or “high honor.” christianity also has a saint stephen, who wikipedia tells me was killed by being stoned to death and is widely considered the first martyr of the christian church. perhaps fittingly, sing is the first onscreen death of a major character in the franchise— while we see victims die before sing in the first movie, we never get to know them. sing is the first character we have a chance to get attached to, only to see him killed for it.
sing, much like tapp, has a police connotation to it— to get someone to confess a crime, or to snitch on their coconspirators, is to “make them sing.” in english, the name sing has a pretty obvious/literal meaning, but in a ton of south asian and southeast asian languages/cultures, the names sing, singh, and variations thereupon appear. all these names share a common origin in a sanskrit word meaning “lion,” in the connotation of a hero.
tumblr tells me that i’ve hit image limit on this post, so i suppose i’ll wrap this up here. i hope y’all find this interesting, helpful, and/or insightful! the next etymology post i make (whenever that is) will cover the matthews family, the denlon family, the hoffman/alcomb family, strahm, and perez.

So this is kind of interesting...
While I was doing some noodling around the internet yesterday I stumbled across a podcast interview with AiW showrunner Andi Copley from 2019 that I have never seen before. She drops some interesting facts about her career and talks a little about her work on AiW.
One noteworthy thing she mentions that they filmed the first few episodes at Radford Studio in LA before temporarily transferring the show to Orlando. I had a suspicion that was the case and she seems to have confirmed it here. Nobody else has mentioned that any actual production happened in LA before Orlando, so she could be remembering incorrectly, but it's still there. We do know that some pre-production work was done here, such as Patrick learning to rollerblade at the Hollywood Bowl.
She also mentions that a couple show bibles were created for the writers of the show which would have included all sorts of little tid-bits about the characters. I really wish that was something we could see!
This is an interesting podcast if you're into the behind-the-scenes aspect of the show. I'm completely unfamiliar with the host or this podcast, but he does some weird voice things in the beginning I decided to skip right on over. The interview starts at 4:05.

Freaky month
I think the ones caught should be kevin radford and streber
Rick was there too but he was put of sight of the ringmaster and is the one who brought the hatzgang back to town with alexander and confirmed the story yo be true to adults
John jaune and jack with rick and Alexander go telling the kids to stay back
Who of course dont listen
Im trying to think of how they get them back to normal cause im not going the movie route of love and friendship lmao
Maybe the cult does something to help a little, at least reverse what the ringmaster did, while alexander and the others tell the townsfolk exactly what this circus does to its “freaks”
In the end the bearded lady and fire breather are chased down by an angry mob (as well as anyone else who partook in the abuse)
While the others go free and either go to the town or leave on their own
(Alexander goes to the town)
The ringmaster supposedly escapes only to find himself surrounded by people in red robes and hoods
Yeah, sounds about right
Uhhh you said it was like a "drug" that made them crazy, right? How about an antidote, or something to flush the drug out of their systems?
Also oooo, I love that for an ending scene! A sacrifice well deserved, in all honesty

Movies I watched this Week #128 (Year 3/Week 24):
Nils Malmros’s Tree of knowledge (”Kundskabens træ”) has always been my favorite Danish movie, and also one of my general All-time Top-Five favorites - Ever. Together with Truffault’s ‘Small Change’, it’s also the best movie about the pains of puberty and the joys of adolescence.
It was hard to find online, and seeing it again after many years, is like meeting an old lover after 40 years apart, and they hasn’t age a day. It’s a perfect masterpiece without a single faulty frame.
A nostalgic trip to provincial Århus at the end of the 1950′s, Malmros spent two years filming a group of teens as they struggle with first loves and heartbreaks. A tragic story of innocent lost. (Photo Above).
Later Edit:
A second viewing the next day confirmed that it is indeed an impeccable classic, subtle and precise. So many Friday night jazz parties where for their first time the kids are allowed to dance in the dark cheek to cheek to Gershwin’s ‘The man I love’.
“You probably don’t get that there’s only has to be very little for people to talk”:  The misery that befalls Erin as she turns from the popular girl into a pariah is crushing. 10/10.
🍿   Lourdes, my 1st film by Austrian filmmaker Jessica Hausner, starring the incomparable Léa Seydoux as a young nun with a twinkle in her eye. A rarely seen subject of Catholic cripples and handicapped pilgrims who flock to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, searching for a miracle. With priests who look like Cardinal Mahoney, Holy water sprinkled around and piously praying invalids, it feels very much like a blanding of Buñuel and Haneke. It must have been shot with the permission of the church, as much of it looks like part of the real rituals going on there. However, it hides a certain unorthodox subversiveness. 7/10.
🍿
2 more by British director Michael Radford:
🍿 “...If you want a vision of the future, Winston, imagine a boot stamping on a human face forever...”
Nineteen Eighty-Four, the original hopeless dystopia. Orwell’s frightening vision of totalitarianism, mass surveillance, thought-police and total repression was anti-Stalinist when he wrote it, but it became a real-life blue-print for today’s hyper-Capitalist societies too.
Many of the scenes were shot on the days noted originally in the novel. The scene where Winston Smith writes in his diary, dating the entry April 4, 1984, was filmed on April 4, 1984. It was Richard Burton’s final film, and was photographed by Roger Deakins. 9/10.
Terry Gilliam’s ‘Brazil’ came a year later and also described a doomed love story in a cheerless bureaucratic nightmare. But unlike Brazil, 1984 had only dark and painful reality to deal with, no flights of surrealism and fancy.
"...Oranges and lemons, Say the bells of St. Clement's.  You owe me five farthings, Say the bells of St. Martin's...”
🍿 Lovable 80-year-olds Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer fall in love in New Orleans in Elsa and Fred. He’s reserved and bitter, she’s exuberant and over-whelming, and there’s a Picasso drawing of her that is used as ‘Chekhov’s gun’.  Also, it was George Segal’s last film. 5/10.
I love it when an unusual musical note in a movie signifys an emotional high-point, and when checking the clock, it’s exactly 47:30 minutes in - the middle of the movie!
Maybe it’s time to watch Fellini’s ‘8 1/2′ again [The Anita Ekberg dive in the Trevi Fountain is the film’s driver].
🍿
The Farewell Party (’Good Death’ in Hebrew) is a tragic-comic story about old age and mercy killing. A group of seniors at an assisted living home develop a machine for self-euthanasia. They reluctantly use it on one of their dying friends, but once the word gets around, more and more people want it. 7/10.
🍿   First watch: Bergman’s magnetic, early romance film Summer with Monika. It was considered scandalous at the time, because of “frank” nude scenes. Star-making vehicle to young rebel Harriet Andersson (still alive and 91-year-old). 100% score on ‘Rotten Tomatoes’ and no argument from me there. Terrific Mise-en-scène, crisp cinematography and rich visual story-telling.
It featured Åke Fridell (’Plog’ from ‘The Seventh Seal’) as her father. On the official Bergman site, there’s a good list of many of his other collaborators.
[There are some early Bergman’s films I haven’t seen yet, which I have to remedy ASAP] 🍿
2 more with Robert De Nero:
🍿 Sergio Leone’s last, overrated film, Once upon a time in America, the 229-min. Cut. It’s a crime saga about Jewish gangsters, a Spaghetti Godfather if you will, but it doesn’t hold a candle to Coppola’s. ‘The Godfather’ is perfect in spirit and execution, and every element in it works. Leone’s facsimile is epic and stylish, but most of it feels like a vacant rip-off. Some good performance from De Nero, and some great romantic scenes (Jennifer Connelly reading the Psalms, and reuniting with Deborah again), but the young characters (and many of the others, including wooden James Wood) are bland and unauthentic.
Without Ennio Morricone’s swiping score elevating every scene it plays with, the film wouldn’t get half the accolades it received. And the brutal, unprovoked rape scene was shocking and uncalled for. Not a superb film - 5/10.
RIP, Treat Williams!
🍿 Ellis, a short (15 min.) poetic evocation of the large hospital complex in Ellis Island. Basically it’s Robert De Nero, “The immigrant”, walking slowly in abandoned corridors, accompanied by some vaguely-moody piano chords, reciting in a somber voice-over some vaguely impressionist lines about dreams and immigrants and yearnings. 1/10.
🍿
2 very different documentaries:
🍿 Close to Vermeer is a very moving Dutch documentary about the staging and preparation of last year’s Rijksmuseum Vermeer exhibition, the largest ever mounted. Only 34 paintings are universally attributed to him today, and the museum’s curators were able to bring a total of 28 of them for this magnificent event. Scholars and researchers, collectors and art historians participate in this sober, quiet and passionate exploration of the enigmatic 'Sphinx of Delft‘.
Close to transcendence - 10/10.
(The trailer in inferior to the film itself.)
[This is the 3rd Vermeer film that I’ve seen (after Penn & Teller’s documentary ‘Tim’s Vermeer’ and Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’, both terrific!). As a completist, I now discovered 6 more films that I will watch in the near future: ‘All The Vermeers In New York’, ‘Brush with fate’, Dan Friedkin‘s ‘The last Vermeer’ (That one sounds odd!), the Dutch ‘A real Vermeer’, and two more documentaries, ‘Vermeer: Master of Light’ narrated by Meryl Streep, and the newest ‘Vermeer: The Greatest Exhibition’, about this same exhibition at the Rijksmuseum. Can’t wait!]
🍿 The art of the prank is a fun 2015 documentary about provocative Culture Jammer Joey Skaggs, who had been staging elaborate media pranks since the 60′s. Like previous hoaxers ‘Coyle and Sharpe’, and later ones ‘Yes Men’ and ‘Improv Everywhere’, he builds ‘Fake news’ performances art events, designed to stir shit and embarrass the inane world of television news. Things like ‘Cathouse for dogs’, ‘Celebrity sperm bank’ and ‘Comacocoon’.
🍿  Hacksaw Ridge, my first film directed by known homophobe / antisemite Mel Gibson. [Watched after encouragement from Ahmad]. I’m not big on war dramas, even when they’re about a real-life conscientious objector. Trying to combine the opening from ‘Saving Private Ryan’ with ‘Full Metal Jacket’ boot camp hysterics. But I still can’t stand Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn is no Lee Ermey, and the war parts were simply not interesting. 4/10.
🍿
“I Really Don’t Like Netflix” X 2:
🍿 Inside the mind of a cat, a typically-trash Netflix documentary, narrated by a highly-irritating “pleasant” voice. The only way to endure it is by turning of the sound and reading the subtitles. Lazy and un-inteligent, but “Hey: Cats!” - The second most-common reason to go on the internet.
🍿 After years of anticipation, Season 6 of Black Mirror finally dropped. Was it as good as some of the previous ones? An Emphatic No!
Episode 1, ‘Joan is awful’, was awful. An average woman is stunned to discover that Netflix has launched a prestige TV drama adaptation of her life, in which she is portrayed by Salma Hayek, and taking a shit in a church. Inception-like Meta-Netflix labyrinth with an unlikable cast making fun of themselves. 3/10.
Episode 2, ‘Loch Henry’, a meta-making of a True Crime series about a notorious serial killer who tortured his victims in a quaint faraway Scottish village. Unoriginal horror tale. 2/10.
Episode 3, ‘Beyond the sea’ too was sub-par on every level. A sadistic sci-fi, all superficial with no depth of emotions. Using Charles Trenet’s “La Mer” improves any movie immeasurably, from the opening to LA Story to the ending of Mr. Bean. But here, in a typical Netflix appropriation, it felt 100% fake. 2/10.
Episode 4, ‘Mazey Day’: Another hit-and-run thriller + unscrupulous paparazzi + LA Thomas Guide (which means it’s the early 2000′s!) which turns into a gory ‘American werewolf in London’ fantasy-thingy. 4/10.
The set up of Episode 5, ‘Demon 79′ was ridiculous: “A young Indian Sales Assistant accidentally frees a ruthless and handsome demon-in-training who is required to damn a soul to hell in order to become a full-fledged demon. The sales assistant is told she must kill three people for the demon-in-training, with the demon threatening to cause a nuclear apocalypse if she refuses”. But it was the only episode in this season that worked, and the only one that will be worth re-visiting. It was directed by the guy who also did ‘USS Callister’, another absurd concept that he got right. 8/10.
🍿
2 shorts from ‘Nag:
🍿 Morocco Arise, by nomadic vlogger Brandon Li. His ‘Director Commentary’ was just as captivating.
🍿 Greenpeace takes aim at “fossil fuel party” with Don’t stop, a star-studded Fleetwood Mac cover. Exec-produced by Steve McQueen.
🍿
Throw-back to the "Art project”:
1984 Adora.
Adora with the pearl earring.
Black Mirror Adora.
🍿
(My complete movie list is here).

Kipo’s Final Season
Well, it was a journey you guys.
Inevitably it’s bittersweet, because while it WAS a happy ending… You know. It’s an ending! Phenomenal final season, final trio of seasons, the show really wrapped itself up, but I’m empty that it’s gone now!
It’s why I held off on watching the final season… My heart wasn’t ready to let go yet. And sure, if the third season were suddenly to get a BUNCH of ratings, we might get those additional motives that Radfor Sechrist hinted at the possibility of! But I’m still sad because the main journey is gone, and the cast, as we’ve gotten to know them, have left!
Not entirely, but still! I will have to say that Kipo, Benson, Wolf, Mandu, and Troy are ROCKING all of their new looks! I love that Kipo looks more like her dad Lio, too! Speaking of which, I really enjoyed seeing Dave and Lio get along unintentionally… It was AMAZING to see Song return, and I just…
I’m SAY, you know! I’m sad to see it all go. It really felt a final farewell to all of the cast and world we love… We got to see the return of various characters, including Fun Gus, of all people- Love the way his and Emilia’s arcs sort of tied together! And I love the symbolism of Emilia losing herself, as the idea of her becoming the very thing she swore to destroy… Those are great stories to me, haunting and chilling!
LOVE how this year has been bringing us Gay Proms! First Grom, then Prahm! Prahm was great… I love Doag, though I feel sorry for her because of that NAME… But good for you Hoag, you’re a father and you let those paternal instincts override any fear, paranoia, and prejudice you may have had! Sure the warning didn’t come through in time, but at least you tried! Good for you…
Also, I know Asher and Dahlia had a minimal presence, but I ENJOYED every last second of them we got, even as background characters! I loved the way the arc progressed, the stories behind Mutes and Humans getting along… It all felt so organic and natural, you know? And HUGO…!
I’m not over his death. The worst part was that he DID redeem himself and fully change, so… It wasn’t like one of those Redemption-equals-Death cop outs! Hugo had already gotten his redemption. The crew really just wrote that for the sake of stomping on our hearts, huh? WELL THEY DID… Rest in peace, you funky mandrill! His arc was particularly brilliant and naturally-flowing, I love that final callback to his mess with Aurum… Hugo was just being that moody, temperamental older brother who’s a teen and insists he’s not going through a phase- But he loves his little sister and will humor her!
I miss him already… And I LOVE his interactions with Wolf, as siblings by proxy of Kipo, but also their shared cynicism and trauma as I speculated about! Hugo making a blanket-cloak for Wolf, to replace the old one she had, which represented her trauma and past… I hadn’t even considered it, but it’s right! The way Hugo and Wolf’s arcs together to take out Emilia, only for Greta of all people to make a final point… It was amazing! Superb, brilliant, it was EXACTLY what I wanted to see and MORE! How we had this powerful and meaningful growth for the two of them as siblings in their own right, without necessarily having to rely on fighting… Just quiet moments!
And Kipo… I love you Kipo! I was afraid the show might give us an arc of Kipo being ‘cured’ and having to struggle with no longer being part-mute, even if she were to eventually get that back… And they didn’t! They let Kipo be Kipo! I love her nature as a girl of two worlds, and how she brings both worlds together into one seamless creation! And her DNA gives me hope of a vaccine being made…
I’m still sad over the deaths of Yumyan, Margot, Rupert, Camille, Brad, Billions, etc.! Remember the fallen… I was REALLY wishing the show would have them brought back to their old minds, and while still having them around in spirit sort of helped (as they were basically senile after the ‘cure’)… COME ON, this show has already been so bright and optimistic and hopeful in many other regards! Is it too much to ask that the ‘cure’ gets reverted, that they recover their old minds! It’s really messed up particularly with Margot and Rupert, as they were KIDS… Rupert was just being held hostage, and Margot DID make the effort to change her mind, just like Hoag she didn’t expect Emilia to be ahead of her! Maybe if we get that hypothetical sequel film with Wolf, MAYBE we could have Margot brought back… Or at least go over Wolf’s thoughts of Margot technically betraying her, but to save Rupert, and ultimately doing the right thing- Only to die! I wish we got to discuss that.
Interesting that they never go about the origins of Mutes, but honestly… Not too important to me? The exact cause wasn’t a big deal to me, what matters is that it happened and now it’s here! Speaking of which, I LOVED the Dave episode… Controversial opinion, I think he’s a great character! I love how the show confirmed he was there as far back as THE beginning, and he was just… VIBING the entire time, over a fan! What DID happen to the fan, I wonder? Imagine if it got destroyed- Or even better, if it just ran out of battery! The implication that the fan somehow was able to run for two centuries, but still ran out of energy… Lol.
THAT episode was a masterpiece of morbid humor, what with the idea of this one loser being THAT caught over a fan, Dave being responsible for skyscraper ridge… And that bit of Daves getting KILLED, but it’s never explained and then just sort of glossed over- It’s arguably amongst the pinnacle of morbid humor! The kind that just happens, and because it’s left unexplained it’s just BETTER, more horrifying, whilst funnier… And Benson! Like I said, the background, unspoken, but obvious implication that the Daves and Fanatics (is that what those humans called themselves?) slaughtered each other until one was left. YIKES… But it was still so brilliantly done and conveyed, it really is the epitome of dark humor to me!
Benson got his kiss! He got his kiss with Troy! And now they’re running a restaurant together, Cappuccino gave them a SIX star review… But please don’t call them potato noodles. They’re fries. I can overlook anything, but NOT that! But now I crave that hypothetical sequel film that Radford Sechrist hinted at… Gimme gimme, please! Mostly I just want closure on those Mutes who got ‘cured’, I know it’s immature, but please bring them back!
All in all, this was just… BRILLIANT! It was GOOD, and it makes me even sadder because I found myself so happy to see these characters progress, like with Zane, or Greta… Wolf letting go of her cloak, she’s so PRECIOUS I love her so much, and I love how Hugo was like an older brother to her and I miss him already! I love Kipo, I love Benson and Dave’s backstory, I love Troy, Asher, and Dahlia… I want MORE, please! I feel like I’m not yet ready to let go. And maybe I don’t necessarily have to, but still…
And it’s absolutely wild to me, because this all happened within a year. It’s been a journey, huh? Once it was as simple as getting back to her old home… And while Kipo lost that, she made a new, better one! And I love that, but I’m also going to miss it- Because it feels that just as we got it back, we left! Well, I can always return in my own way, but for now…
THANK YOU, to everyone who worked on this show! I’m going to miss Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts! It was utterly brilliant, and I’m glad you got to tell the story you wanted! Here’s hoping you get to indulge in the world of Kipo maybe one last, or two, times!

Canada Prepared to Field Strongest Team Ever for 2022 Olympics
In a bid to top its achievements at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, which included gold in the team skating and ice dance events and bronze in ladies and pairs, Skate Canada has announced the comebacks of several decorated competitors as part of its bid to reinvigorate the field in preparation for the 2022 Games in Beijing.
“As we prepare to move ahead to next year’s Winter Olympics, we’re working to revitalize our field,” said Skate Canada Director of Elite High Achievement and Planning Snerdly Moss. “We have a forward-looking vision and believe that with the right combination of youth and veteran leadership, we can hold onto our spot at the top of the figure skating world.”
After the post-2018 retirements of decorated skaters like Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir in ice dance, Patrick Chan in men’s, Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford in pairs, and Kaetlyn Osmond in ladies, Canadian figure skating has been in what many observers of the sport have considered a rebuilding phase. The announcement of several new high-profile comebacks, however, is intended to bolster the field.
In ice dance, 1988 Olympic bronze medalist Tracy Wilson has teamed up with coaching partner and 1984 and 1988 Olympic men’s silver medalist Brian Orser, with the up-and-coming duo prepared to mount a challenge to 2021 world bronze medalists Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier.
“We understand that Brian and Tracy may have some students competing in Beijing, but we have faith in their ability to prioritize what matters most,” said Moss.
Anticipate a tight contest in the ladies field, as young competitors like Madeline Schizas and Alison Schumacher will face off against 1988 Olympic silver medalist Liz Manley and, making her senior singles debut, 1964 Olympic pairs silver medalist and beloved Skate Canada commentator Debbi Wilkes.
The men’s field, meanwhile, which in recent seasons has seen a strong rivalry develop between Keegan Messing, Nam Nguyen, and Roman Sadovsky, will be shaken up by the return of a legendary national and world champion and Olympic medalist.
“We’re very excited about this comeback,” said Moss. “While we’re keeping his identity under wraps for now, I think you’ll all be saying ‘hallelujah’ about this one.”
Fellow skaters have also been left in the dark about the returning skater’s identity.
“No clue,” said Sadovsky when contacted by The Twizzle. “But the information would be nice to have for those of us competing for a spot at the next Olympics.”
Skate Canada emphasized that the present secrecy is intended to prevent distraction for those currently training. "The skaters will be informed in due time,” said Moss. “I can promise, however, that this man’s return ensures Team Canada won’t be ‘dust in the wind’ in Beijing.”
However, through additional sourcing, The Twizzle can confirm that the men’s competitor slated to return is 1960 Olympic bronze medalist Donald Jackson.
When asked about plans to support Skate Canada’s current crop of competitors through means such as expanded competitive opportunities or increased funding, Moss responded with a blank stare.

As long as you maintain a healthy way of life as well as do not acquire excess weight, your outcomes should be durable as well as the persistent locations of fat must not return. As with many effective aesthetic therapies, outcomes are not rapid, but you should start to discover a distinction from around four weeks after your treatment. While it's not a weight-loss treatment, CoolSculpting can be used to focus in on locations of the body that can be tricky to address with diet and workout alone.
From the moment I arrived to my separation, I found the team and environment to be very specialist yet inviting. I am anticipating returning as well as having my treatments.Having currently been back to the Facility to see Jane for the third time today as well as I stand by what I have actually claimed over. Jane is exceptional in her knowledge of therapies as well as discusses them extensively. An outstanding setup which I am so delighted I have actually located and also one that I would highly suggest. If you gain weight after you have actually been treated any type of continuing to be fat cells in the cured location, and generally throughout your body, might swell as well as raise in dimension.
How cold is Cryolipolysis?
Cryolipolysis is a method intended to remove fat by freezing. It involves controlled application of cooling within the temperature range of -11 to +5 °C (+12.2 to +41 °F) for the localized reduction of fat deposits, intended to reshape the contours of the body.

To Save His Life
Prompt by @theworld-is-out-there: Owen to whoever “I moved down here to save my sons life.” Also on AO3. A/N: I am absolutely loving the prompts you sent me.  I wrote the first three, and edited this one.  I work on the others tomorrow.
It had been a busy day for everyone.  Between some last minute decisions and then the rehearsal, T.K. and Carlos felt like that hadn’t been able to sit down all day.  Now that they were finally sitting down at the restaurant side by side, they had silently agreed to let everyone else do the moving around and talking.  They linked hands under the table as their friends all got up and talked about how Carlos and T.K. were made for each other.
They were prepared for the sappy speeches from their friends.  They weren’t prepared, though, for the emotional one that came from Owen.
“It’s no big secret that T.K. and I are from New York.  Moving down here to Austin was an opportunity that I was hesitant to do at first.  You see, I was a firefighter in Manhattan on 9/11.  I watched as my team died in the rubble.  I swore that I would always make sure I would honor them,” Owen started, looking over at Judd as he spoke about honoring his former team.  “Then Deputy Chief Radford from Austin, Texas showed up in my office.  I had just been diagnosed with lung cancer and had no plans of leaving New York or my doctors.”
T.K. leaned into Carlos as his father talked.  He knew where Owen was going with this story, and it still hurt to hear just how scared his dad had been in those moments.  Carlos wrapped a comforting arm around T.K.’s shoulders.
“After Deputy Chief Radford left, it was supposed to be just a normal day at Station 252 in NYC, but then I realized my son hadn’t come in to work yet.  I remembered how he had said he was going to propose to his boyfriend the night before.  I checked my phone and didn’t see any happy announcements.  I just felt this pit of dread in my stomach.  I told the team I’d be right back and headed to his apartment.  He wasn’t answering.  I called the team and we forced our way in.  There was my son, unconscious in his apartment.”
T.K. closed his eyes.  The memory of waking up on his floor and seeing his Dad scared and his team working around him would haunt him forever.
Carlos leaned over and whispered in T.K.’s ear, “I’ve heard this a million times, but it doesn’t get any easier.”
T.K. turned to look at Carlos.  “Doesn’t get any easier for me either.”
“When T.K. was released from the hospital,” Owen continued, “we sat outside talking.  When I asked him if he was trying to commit suicide, he said no, but he hesitated.  I knew we had to get out of New York at that moment.  I knew if we had stayed, my son wouldn’t be here today.  I told him to pack his stuff and we’re going to get out of town.  I moved down here to save my son’s life.”
T.K. looked up at his father at those words.  He always suspected that his dad had caught on when he hesitated answering that night.  He knew Carlos knew he had been suicidal.  He had always wondered if the move was because of the drugs or something bigger, but now he had that confirmation.  T.K. felt his eyes sting with tears at his dad’s honest confession.
Owen saw the tears forming in his son’s eyes.  His heart hurt briefly at the sight, but within seconds, Owen saw Carlos’ grip on his son tighten.  “When we first moved here, things still weren’t great, but they were getting better.  Part of me wondered if once T.K. was sober for a year that he’d hightail it back to New York, but then this cop came into his life.  He never pushed T.K. into something he didn’t want, even if it broke his own heart in the process.  When the solar storm hit, something happened though.  T.K. started looking at Austin as home.  Specifically, and he’ll never admit it, he started looking at Carlos as home.”
Owen turned his attention to T.K. and spoke to him directly.  “I knew that day when Carlos showed up at the station just after you told the team about your overdose that one day we’d be here.  We may have moved here to save your life, but Carlos showed you how to live.”  He looked to Carlos next.  “I’ll never be able to thank you for that.”
Carlos nodded at his future father-in-law as he brushed the stray tear away from his eyes.
T.K. stood from his chair and walked to his father, pulling him into a tight hug.  “Thanks Dad.”
“I promise my best man speech tomorrow will not be that emotional,” Owen said, pulling back from the hug and brushing the back of his hand on his eyes.  “I just had to get that out.  Carlos means a lot to me because he saved you.”
“You just said it yourself.  You saved me,” T.K. argued.  “He helped, but I don’t know if I’d even be here to be with Carlos if we hadn’t left New York.  Hell, if you hadn’t come that morning, I wouldn’t be here.”
Owen pulled T.K. back into another brief hug before letting his son return to his seat next to his fiancé.
“Good luck with that one, Carlos,” Owen joked.  “He’s a handful.”
“Oh I know!” Carlos teased.
T.K. turned to look at his fiancé offendedly.  “Hey!” he exclaimed.
Carlos laughed.  “Love you.”
T.K. couldn’t even pretend to be mad for long.  “Love you, too,” he said, linking hands once more and turning his attention to the next person to speak.

Tessa Virtue, Scott Moir extend break from ice dance competition
May 7, 2019
Two-time Olympic ice dance champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir will extend their indefinite break from competition through the fall Grand Prix season, an agent for the Canadians confirmed.
Virtue and Moir, who last competed in PyeongChang and haven’t said whether they will return at all, are headlining a Canadian tour of skating shows for the second straight autumn.
They’ve been asked often since the Olympics whether they are retiring. Their refrain: They don’t know.
“It definitely feels like [this is our last Olympics],” Moir said on TODAY in PyeongChang, hours after their ice dance gold. “If it is, this is a great way for us to go out. … It feels right. It feels like a good end.”
Italian Carolina Kostner, the 2014 Olympic bronze medalist and 2012 World champion, is also being promoted as part of the Canadian tour. A representative for Kostner said a decision on whether she will compete in the fall has not been made.
Virtue and Moir took two years off after the 2014 Sochi Olympics before announcing their comeback in February 2016. They won all but one of their competitions in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons, becoming the first skaters to earn five Olympic medals (boosted by team-event silver and gold in 2014 and 2018).
In their absence, French Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron improved on their PyeongChang silver medal to earn their third and fourth world championships the last two years.
U.S. Olympic ice dance bronze medalists Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani took the 2018-19 season off and haven’t said whether they will return at some point.
Canada’s other top skaters from the PyeongChang Olympics — Patrick Chan, bronze medalist Kaetlyn Osmond and pairs’ bronze medalists Meaghan Duhamel and Eric Radford — have announced retirements.

Chubacabra
Tumblr media
The chupacabra or chupacabras (Spanish pronunciation: [tʃupaˈkaβɾas], literally "goat-sucker"; from chupar, "to suck", and cabra, "goat") is a legendary creature in the folklore of parts of the Americas, with its first purported sightings reported in Puerto Rico. The name comes from the animal's reported habit of attacking and drinking the blood of livestock, including goats.
region Caribbean (chiefly Puerto Rico), Central and South America, North America (chiefly Mexico and southern United States)
Physical descriptions of the creature vary. It is purportedly a heavy creature, the size of a small bear, with a row of spines reaching from the neck to the base of the tail. Eyewitness sightings have been claimed in Puerto Rico, and have since been reported as far north as Maine, and as far south as Chile, and even being spotted outside the Americas in countries like Russia and the Philippines, but many of the reports have been disregarded as uncorroborated or lacking evidence. Sightings in northern Mexico and the southern United States have been verified as canids afflicted by mange. According to biologists and wildlife management officials, the chupacabra is an urban legend.
Name:Chupacabras can be literally translated as "goat-sucker", from chupar ("to suck") and cabra ("goat"). It is known as both chupacabras and chupacabra throughout the Americas, with the former being the original word, and the latter a regularization of it. The name is attributed to Puerto Rican comedian Silverio Pérez, who coined the label in 1995 while commenting on the attacks as a San Juan radio deejay.
History:The first reported attack eventually attributed to the creatures occurred in March 1995 in Puerto Rico. Eight sheep were discovered dead, each with three puncture wounds in the chest area and completely drained of blood. A few months later, in August, an eyewitness, Madelyne Tolentino, reported seeing the creature in the Puerto Rican town of Canóvanas, when as many as 150 farm animals and pets were reportedly killed. In 1975, similar killings in the small town of Moca were attributed to El Vampiro de Moca ("The Vampire of Moca"). Initially, it was suspected that the killings were committed by a Satanic cult; later more killings were reported around the island, and many farms reported loss of animal life. Each of the animals was reported to have had its body bled dry through a series of small circular incisions. Puerto Rican comedian and entrepreneur Silverio Pérez is credited with coining the term chupacabras soon after the first incidents were reported in the press. Shortly after the first reported incidents in Puerto Rico, other animal deaths were reported in other countries, such as the Dominican Republic, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Brazil, United States, and Mexico.
Reputed Origin: A five-year investigation by Benjamin Radford, documented in his 2011 book Tracking the Chupacabra, concluded that the description is given by the original eyewitness in Puerto Rico, Madelyne Tolentino, was based on the creature Sil in the science-fiction horror film Species. The alien creature Sil is nearly identical to Tolentino’s chupacabra eyewitness account and she had seen the movie before her report: "It was a creature that looked like the chupacabra, with spines on its back and all... The resemblance to the chupacabra was really impressive," Tolentino reported. Radford revealed that Tolentino "believed that the creatures and events she saw in Species were happening in reality in Puerto Rico at the time," and therefore concludes that "the most important chupacabra description cannot be trusted." This, Radford believes, seriously undermines the credibility of the chupacabra as a real animal. In addition, the reports of blood-sucking by the chupacabra were never confirmed by a necropsy, the only way to conclude that the animal was drained of blood. An analysis by a veterinarian of 300 reported victims of the chupacabra found that they had not been bled dry. Radford divided the chupacabra reports into two categories: the reports from Puerto Rico and Latin America where animals were attacked and it is supposed their blood was extracted, and the reports in the United States of mammals, mostly dogs and coyotes with mange, that people call "chupacabra" due to their unusual appearance. In late October 2010, University of Michigan biologist Barry O'Connor concluded that all the chupacabra reports in the United States were simply coyotes infected with the parasite Sarcoptes scabiei, whose symptoms would explain most of the features of the chupacabra: they would be left with little fur, thickened skin, and rank odor. O'Connor theorized that the attacks on goats occurred "because these animals are greatly weakened, they're going to have a hard time hunting. So they may be forced into attacking livestock because it's easier than running down a rabbit or a deer." Although several witnesses came to the conclusion that the attacks could not be the work of dogs or coyotes because they had not eaten the victim, this conclusion is incorrect. Both dogs and coyotes can kill and not consume the prey, either because they are inexperienced, or due to injury or difficulty in killing the prey. The prey can survive the attack and die afterward from internal bleeding or circulatory shock. The presence of two holes in the neck, corresponding with the canine teeth, is to be expected since this is the only way that most land carnivores have to catch their prey. There are reports of stray Mexican Hairless Dogs being mistaken for chupacabras.
Appearance: The most common description of the chupacabra is that of a reptile-like creature, said to have leathery or scaly greenish-gray skin and sharp spines or quills running down its back. It is said to be approximately 3 to 4 feet (0.9 to 1.2 m) high and stands and hops in a fashion similar to that of a kangaroo. Another common description of the chupacabra is of a strange breed of wild dog. This form is mostly hairless and has a pronounced spinal ridge, unusually pronounced eye sockets, fangs, and claws. Unlike conventional predators, the chupacabra is said to drain all of the animal's blood (and sometimes organs) usually through three holes in the shape of a downwards-pointing triangle or through one or two holes.
Related Legends:A popular legend in New Orleans concerns a popular lovers' lane called Grunch Road, which was said to be inhabited by "grunches", creatures similar in appearance to the Chupacabra. The peuchens of Chile also share similarities in their supposed habits, but instead of being dog-like they are described as winged snakes. This legend may have originated from the vampire bat, an animal endemic to the region. In the Philippines, another legendary creature called the Sigbin shares many of chupacabra's descriptions. The recent discovery of the cat-fox in Southeast Asia suggests that it could also have been simply sightings of this once unknown animal

Out of the darkness and into the sun: my coming-out story
On Thursday, October 11, I decided to share a little secret. Yep, I like both boys and girls! That’s all! Thanks for coming! I wish it was that simple for everyone. Growing up homeschooled in the middle of nowhere, I didn’t know many other kids, other than my baby cousins. I watched plenty of sappy romantic comedy movies with my mom to understand the concept of straight romantic love: it was something beautiful that I would probably want when I was older. I learned about the birds and the bees when I was 11, reading one of those big fancy science books, and was, to be honest, a little disappointed to find out that was how it all worked. I understood it was necessary for the world to go round, but it just didn’t seem romantic to me, and my mom told me it’d make sense when I was 30. My first crush happened at 12, on a 20-year-old male figure skater – mostly because of his beaming personality and warm smile, which I interpreted as “cute”. It was an innocent, normal case of childish sheep’s eyes. But things got very complicated soon after. I started to notice the very beautiful female skaters. At first I called them my “girl crushes” – the word straight girls use for pretty females they admire, even though they don’t intend on dating them. But as I grew older and hormones kicked in, I definitely knew something was up. I knew that there were gay people in the world, but I couldn’t call myself a lesbian if I still liked guys, right? I had never even heard the word bisexual until I was 13, and at the time I thought it meant someone who dressed as both genders 🙈 When I discovered its correct meaning, I thought, “Wait, is that me?” But I didn’t know for sure. First of all, I am not strongly attracted to men. I definitely think some men are handsome, sweet husband material, but I don’t have that overwhelming sexual attraction to them. On the other hand, there are a few ladies I definitely see as sexy, but I’ve never dated a girl before and I’m not sure how far I would go. A bi friend of mine recently explained that bisexual just means you’re attracted to both males and females, and at this age it’s perfectly normal (and advisable!) not to be interested in “the facts of life” yet. I might grow into it, like Mama always said, or I might be biromantic – attracted to both sexes and craving a close relationship like a marriage, but not necessarily a sexual relationship. As of now, I honestly don’t know, and I’m okay with that. I’m just going to take this one day at a time. I started strongly suspecting I was bi in March of this year, and I admitted it to myself during the summer. One of my sweet Twitter friends, who has been openly gay for many years, called it “coming out to yourself”. It was a bit of a shock to me; I had always seen LGBT people as a group I accepted, but didn’t belong to. But once I had figured out where I stood, I could start my journey of telling others. A huge factor in my coming out story is a Twitter friend I met several months ago. She was in her early 20s, but she was finally starting to accept she was bi. I told her something like, “it’s something I’ve wondered about myself tbh” and after a while I started to tell her my story. After I had told her, I decided I would tell my straight friends soon. I was sitting on it for a while, trying to come up with the best time to casually bring it up. But then I saw that National Coming Out Day was coming up and I thought on a whim, “No better time than the present!” Was I scared? YES! But I reminded myself of all the people who inspired me – Eric Radford, my first LGBT role model; Adam Rippon, who represented both the Stars and Stripes and the rainbow with style this Olympics; Karina Manta, a Team USA ice dancer who came out as bisexual less than two weeks ago; and all the people – heterosexual or otherwise – who are just fearlessly themselves. And I want to be one of those people who share their whole self with the world. In the words of John Legend, “I give you all of me.” My mom has always been my biggest supporter. She has practically raised me on her own, homeschooled me for over a decade, and been there through every problem I’ve ever had in my life. Since she knows literally everything about me and we talk all the time, it really wasn’t the big scary conversation I imagined it would be. She said she guessed there had been something going on for a while, and I’d tell her when I was ready. I’m still trying to explain all the details, but so far so good. After we talked, I logged onto Twitter to come out to my online friends. Many of them were utterly shocked because I had never even hinted at being bi. I hadn’t even told my very closest friends – girls I chat with on a daily basis about literally EVERYTHING. It wasn’t that I was afraid to tell them; I just wanted to make sure I was 100% bi before I shouted it from the rooftops. They all accepted me so warmly, I cannot even describe it. Twitter people I know only casually were quick to give me a “good for you!” or “you’re so brave to share your story, of course we will support you!”. One of the most beautiful things about the figure skating community is how LGBT-friendly they are. This is how the rest of the world should be. I was a bit worried that one of my friends, who is a devout Christian, wouldn’t understand. I even sent her a long dm trying to explain what it all meant. And she replied, “I’m not gonna lie…I am a little shocked. But this doesn’t change how I feel about you. I still love you like a sister and I’ll always be one of your best friends!” That was one of the most satisfying moments in this little journey. So far, I’ve gotten nothing but positive feedback. I know there will be haters – there always are – but I am proud of who I am, and I have an army of people who support me. The truth is, many young LGBT people can’t just tell their parents without fear or disapproval or even disownment, and the public is another story altogether. I feel so blessed to have a mom who understands that a person is so much more than a sexual orientation. To all of you who are not in a position where you can come out yet, hold on. I don’t know if y’all are religious, but I believe God made us exactly the way He wanted us to be for a reason. I’m also thankful I can’t say I ever experienced the “long years in the closet” most people describe. I’ve heard so many people who know they are LGBT from as young as 5 years old, and don’t come out until adulthood. Since I didn’t even know I was bi until I was a teen and didn’t confirm it until earlier this year, there were honestly only a few months where I felt like I couldn’t share that part of me, as well as about two years where I was just plain confused. It’s pretty hard to hide something in a closet when you don’t even know what you’re trying to put in there. For me, it’s not really “coming out”, it’s “making a discovery and sharing it with the world”. I haven’t told my whole family, like my more traditional grandparents. And that’s okay with me. I’m not in a rush to tell everyone. If I’m in a serious relationship with a woman and I’m bringing her to meet the in-laws, then of course I’ll tell them. But while I’m young and single, I don’t see why they need to know about it. It’s not because I’m ashamed of who I am; it’s because it’s really none of their business 😉 Right now, telling my mom is enough. And that’s it. I’m out, I’m proud, I’m happy. This is not the only thing that makes me who I am. I am a writer, a student, a crazy figure skating fan, an artist, and just a girl who is about to celebrate her 16th birthday next month. I’m just glad I will be able to start my dating life knowing exactly where I stand, and I hope to eventually meet that special someone who takes my breath away. This was a long and probably very confusing post, so feel free to ask questions if you’re unclear on anything! Love you guys! 😘
