i've been working on a character study fic for my interpretation of mike the past couple of days, albeit very slowly, and i can't believe it's taken me this long to write one for him when character studies are typically my favorite type of fic to write AND the fact that ive been rping mike actively since like. the release of the first game.

Since I've been drawing warrior cats stuff again with my clangen blog, I felt like revisiting my old WC OCs from years ago from my initial WC phase. They were all so edgy lol. I still love them though.

Two edgy but otherwise normal cats and one freak cat that was experimented on by humans and is now semi-immortal, I think was the story.. He also learned the words for his name from the humans.

regarding speaking / vocalizations .

link is almost completely nonverbal. he makes small noises - shouts and grunts and gasps - but these are not really a voluntary action. instead, they are more like something he cannot help. if he does speak, it is in quick bursts --- and his voice itself is very unpracticed. he mispronounces certain sounds, often leading to him calling places the wrong name. of course, he doesn't do that on purpose.

were it up to him, he wouldn't talk ever. but the gap between communication when interacting with someone who speaks has frustrated him enough that he finds it easier to just psyche himself up for 7 minutes straight before giving someone a yes/no answer to a question. obviously, if he can, he will try to get through most conversations with body language and various throat-noises that don't form words.

there are some exceptions on both sides, of course. with those he is closer to, he is both way more comfortable, and also way less, speaking aloud. he does not typically vocalize towards zelda, for example, but if he needed to she is one of the few that he could easily hold a conversation with. he just really doesn't want to have to, reserving speech for when something important happens, instead. he is not someone who prides himself on personal comfort in most regards ; but something about his own voice is a stance he can be quite stubborn on.

link does know some very early level sign language, but doesn't use it unless he isn't getting his thoughts across well enough. he is far more likely to just start pulling up his slate/pad and pointing at different things in his compendium to explain what he's trying to convey. thankfully he takes a lot of pictures.

The QSMP is looking for smaller English-speaking streamers, so I figured I'd take the time to introduce qsmpblr to none other than Eric "Condi" Condifiction!!

Condi is an English-speaking Canadian who's a part of Just Roll With It (JRWI), the absurdly powerful dnd podcast he runs with his friends Bizly, Grizzly, and Slimecicle!! He plays several characters across their multiple campaigns, along with DM'ing his own campaign of Apotheosis. He plays/played Jay Ferin for Riptide, Rolan Deep for Blood in the Bayou, Sylnan Vengolor for Fated, Flynn Gustwind for Convergence, and Vyncent Sol for Prime Defenders. (plus something im probably forgetting whoops anyway)

He is insanely talented at rp and improv, with some of the more infamous and my favorite examples being episodes 53, 100, and 101 in JRWI: Riptide. The way he plays Jay Ferin is emotionally devastating and incredible, and she's genuinely brought me to tears multiple times. Though he plays his absolute heart out with every character he makes, she's just a neat example of his range and talent. Looking at the differences between Jay, the Navy's daughter, and someone like Rolan Deep, a lawyer returning to his hometown of Galloway to experience The Horrors™ is just wild man. Not to even mention everything he does with Vyncent and his multiple different characters inside him; along with everything he made for his own campaign of Apotheosis.

Something something charlie slimecicle calls him "God Gamer Condifiction." He's really good at video games dude I have no way to talk about this he just is its really scary honestly. On one of his more recent streams he went live playing Only Up! and he beat it in one go without any major setbacks, fast enough to refund the game and get all the money he spent on it back. Just for context.

He also has a background in minecraft roleplay specifically!! He was part of the SCU (Slimecicle Cinematic Universe) where he roleplayed several different characters. God!Condi and 100Days!Condi being the more defined ones. Everything he did in the SCU was nearly pure unscripted improv and incredibly impressive, and I highly recommend you go through and watch it!! (I go into detail on how to get into it on this post)

He doesn't just have background in the roleplay aspects of minecraft though, he was also briefly on SMPEarth and is skilled at regular minecraft too. He mainly strives at the roleplay aspects, but again the whole God Gamer Condifiction thing so ^_^

Overall I just really need my dnd guy to be in my favorite minecraft server so he can make so many SCU references with Charlie Slimecicle, then emotionally devastate us through the roleplay aspect. I really hope he manages to get in so everyone gets a taste of his amazing roleplay and gaming (i guess thats how im phrasing it) abilities :DD

/rp Tazercraft and after all of that, their mental link is gone. God knows what did it - separation, comas, dimensional travel, Federation meddling, glitches, time itself - who knows! Neither of them really understand the ritual they did to have it in the first place. Or maybe they don't remember it. With research and time and both of them there, maybe they could repair the link.

They haven't had those yet.

Mike shows up, laughing, in real life on Quesadilla Island, and for the first time in years, surprises Pac with his presence. But Mike's also yelling in delight and it's his voice. He tackles Pac and Pac doesn't feel a thing - well, he feels it, obviously, but he doesn't feel Mike, the touch-echoes.

He thinks MIKE! and there's a beat where nothing happens and then he yells "MIKE!". And Mike grins at him, because he only heard him the second time.

Oh, so that's how it is now. Cool. Cool.

Pac's long sleep mostly fixed the stab wound in his stomach but he still can't run far without shooting pains. He still runs with Mike to Fit and Ramon. Even if Mike won't stop making fun of him, it's selfishly easier with the others there, where they'd have to talk out loud anyway. It feels like Mike could be any stranger. Except that it's so, so, so clearly Mike, his best friend. Just... not in his head. Like they were years ago.

Mike shows him the murder mystery house, which he's been finishing. He stumbles to tell Pac about being haunted by the Naked Slenderman. He and Pac start to talk over each other and it's a surprise too. Stupid fucking surprises!

After stumbling out of Purgatory the second time, cut open, Pac had recovered on his own. He didn't want to go to the Ordo hospital, both because it's Cellbit's and because he'd spent too long there sitting with Mike's unresponsive body, like a stranger's who looks just like his friend, being afraid. Stupid fucking fear. Here he is being afraid again. Come on, he tells himself. Mike's right here. He's not a stranger.

Mike doesn't seem as thrown as Pac is. Either Mikes' more resilient or he hasn't had all these complexes built up of long months of being alone in his head. Pac hates always having to move on from things, always having to be sad and come back from that. The universe should owe him some change now and then!

Well, to be fair, the universe gave him Mike back. Maybe if Pac had known Mike would always be fine, he'd have been able to get over it too. Maybe he will.

When Mike runs down a staircase ahead of him, Pac throws a white sheet over his head, and creeps after him. For the first time in years, Pac successfully jumpscares the shit out of Mike.

Stupid fucking hope. Stupid fucking moving forward.

Okay it is time for me to talk about rpz characters !

Small explanation on what is rpZ : a gta rp server that was created by Zeraror made to last 2 weeks exactly. It was the first introduction to rp for a lot of French streamers. It was full rp and almost everything was impro. The only big event really organized was elections for the mayor (won by a dog who gives free cocaine btw)

All of our french qsmp stremears (expect Kameto) participated.

ANTOINE CROUTE (he/him)

Baghera character

He is 16 years old, youngest of the server, often misgender because of his high-pitched voice. He spent the full two weeks with his cousin Daniel Croute (play on words with Antoine Daniel), so we can't speak about one without speaking about the other two they are basically soulmate. At first we think they both have parents and we don't see them because they are on holidays, but towards the end given the fact that they confess that there parents don't give news and the fact that they live on the street we understand they have been abandoned.

Antoine often says he is the muscle and Daniel the brain but they both aren't that smart and very naive and get themself into a lot of troubles. They are looking for an internship but always inevitably get fired because of their numerous mistacke. They will finaly found a job at Montazac(Antoine characters)'s vineyard even after a few incident in the end Donatien de Montazac permently hire them, makes them heir then adopt them.

Links with q!Baghera :

The obvious one is their need for a family and habit to get attached quickly to anyone who start to respond to their need. Baghera did it with philza and Antoine with Donatien and Doc Maison(a mentor of his). The fact that they don't have a "real" familly hurt their selfestem

Then more funny(?) is their relationship with death. Or if we want to be precise the temporary kind of death (because of the coma dynamic in gta and respawn in Minecraft ). If you are familiar with q!Baghera she as a tendency to die a lot but also to encourage other to do so, saying they should die more, have more fun with death in general. She steps on mine, drown herself, jump of clif, for fun and giggle a lot. In the spawn of two weeks Antoine had 48 coma, the record of the server (compilation of all his coma). Antoine keeps on dying dumb way and never learn his lesson as doctors will anyway always come to help him

Their compassion and the way they always go out of their way to help. q!Baghera in a way that she always tries to find the best solution to help their friends and resolve situations and Antoine just throws himself into dangerous situation to help his loved one.

In the first week of the qsmp, Baghera told the adventures of the Croute cousins to Pomme as a bed time story. The moral was that even when adversity kept making their life difficult they kept hoping for their happy ending with they got.

DONATIEN DE MONTAZAC (he/him)

Antoine's character. He is a winery owner, very rich, and has for motivation getting even richer. We understand quite fast that he doesn't care for no one except him and his money(but his characters evolve during the weeks). He is taken ostage at least 4 times and somwhat always manage to escape the situation harmless and with more money than before. He isn't violent but is in an relashionship with the Vagos (local mafia) to protect his domain. He presented himself to the election and had a lot of votes, he was quite pised to lost against a dog.

For multiple reason (he snitched on him to the cops) he is hated by doctor Cox, a dangerous ex psychologist with a love for revenge. Cox will try to manipulate antoine into betraying Donatien without sucees. The last day he will kidnapepd both Croute cousins and will force Donatien to choose one to kill, he will refuse to but will instead forced to beat them up. They will be ultimatly be saved by the fact that Cox henchman don't want kids to be hurt in the conflict and called the police. After the incident he will confess that for them he would have been capable of paying any ransom (wich is a lot coming from him)

Links with q!Antoine :

I think q!antoine is really different from Donatien but one thing they do have in common is their selfishness. Not in a particularly mean way but they both put their own interests as an all top priority and won't go out of their way to help other if it doesn't benefices them.

But also both character soften their way for they kids, Donatien for Antoine and Daniel and Antoine for Pomme. In both case it is a slow warming to them and then love with a powerful want to protect(less shown with Donatien because Antoine is already almost an adult and can take care of himself)

He reference his character out of rp : During qsmp 2024 anytime he was winning a lot of money he would jokingly said he was in a "Donatien arc". During the elections arc, he said that he gave enough before and don't want to try to lose to the dumb mascot again (Gegg in qsmp, the dog in rpz)

PATRICK PAGNOLESS (he/him)

Aypierre's character.

(Okay, so I didn't watch his pov. This is more what I know from wiki fandom/clips/seeing him in other pov)

He is the owner of the Pagnoless brother with his brother Jackyyy (played by JimmyBoyyy which you might have seen during purgatory 2). It is the richest enterprise as well as the one with more depts. He is from the south of France and left to escape the Corse mafia.

RAYOU WHITE (he/him)

Etoiles's character.

Not much to say since because of scheduling conflict and difficulties with rp Etoiles didn't play much. He was basically a bald doctor with depression. He is really passive aggressive and hates his job.

ANYWAY, that was not short at all but I cut a lot of things and tried to make it still understandable.I maybe forgotten things, rpz were a pretty eventful 2 weeks.

Qiao Ling tries to mediate but fails. Intense rock, paper, scissors battle ensues...

My guess is, since Cai Qi as CXS has a history of cheating in this game (according to a script LG should win with paper) he tried to win this time again but 5d chess-ed himself. He prob thought LG would expect him to cheat (CXS using scissors to win with paper) and would change his hand to stone. So CXS picked paper to win with stone that was supposed to counter scissors that cheating CXS would pick to win with paper. y-yeah.. Anyway Lu Guang still followed the script and they ended up with a draw ><

I'm so invested in this encore-exclusive 'Rock, paper, scissors' Arc. Words cannot express how shiguang this silly bit is.

"I'm driving..." You murmured, having your partner jump over a particularly large cliff. Even though your legend could technically go by themselves and be totally fine, you still liked being in control of where you were riding.

"You're driving? Excuses, excuses." Arven said, "Anyway, I wanted to let you know that you're close to a titan." As soon as he said that, you could feel the ground rumbling underneath you.

"OH REALLY?!" You shouted, trying to stabilize yourself so you and your pokemon didn't fall to the ground, "THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP!"

"Well I did text you..."

HELLO there is no need to hold back and be patient <33 I love seeing you in my asks and always get excited! Also also also! So happy to hear you love our Juni even though he did Big Bad. I promise the main Mimic Arc Rambles Part II will have a snapshot of what happens to him after all this. 

Anyway! For now, to answer your question about the feather earring!

Some time after reuniting (after the whole Juni thing), Scar and Grian find a cave with a hot-spring, where they take shelter for a little while. Things happen, and somewhere along the lines, Scar asks Grian to mark him in some way. (Scar already marked Grian—) 

He says: Show the world I’m yours.

And so Grian does the avian thing. He touches his wings, willingly and deliberately, without the intent to harm them—something that hasn’t happened in so long—and he picks a nice-looking feather. And he gifts it to Scar. To say that yes, they’re connected. That they belong to each other. (And oh, how much it means for Scar to have access to this part of Grian; to be given something so monumental, something others are willing to kill for, yet they’re not allowed to have it.)

At first, Scar tucks it behind his ear, because he has no other way to keep it on him and have it safe and on display (something they can afford for now, in the privacy of their little cave). He checks with Grian, to make sure if that’s okay, and… Honestly, it’s complicated. 

Tucking a small snippet of our mini-rp about this below the cut <3 (but if you’re interested only in what happens to Scar’s ear after, feel free to skip that!)

RP snippet:

Scar

"Is this okay?" he asks, a tad timid with a big, bashful smile. "I mean like, am I supposed to wear it?" 

It's a loaded question, he knows. Not only is it a public display of their relationship, but it's a public display of a bright violet feather, and Scar knows how troubling that can be for Grian to show off, so he can only imagine the complicated nature of having his own portion of that for show. (He thinks of the hunters and their bejeweled weapons, feathers tied to them in boast. It makes his fingers twitch slightly, aching for his claws.)

(Mournfully, he finds himself wishing this was Hermitcraft (a thought he tries to avoid), and he could wear it proudly to show off to his friends. That Grian is his and he is Grian's.)

Grian

Grian waits until Scar pulls away, content to stay pressed close to him. But then Scar presents a question, and Grian's face burns, eyes flicking up to bask in the sight of the feather behind Scar's ear. "I— I um—" he stammers. He likes having it on display, and all the implications of it. It makes something in his chest purr with happy warmth. But— Is Scar supposed to wear it? Grian's never done anything like this before. He actually doesn't know.

His fingers reach, but he doesn't touch the tucked feather. Instead, his fingertips brush Scar's earlobe, and he wonders how wonderful it would feel to see Scar proudly wear the feather as an earring.

But then the reality crashes in. Grian's fingers tremble and pull away, and he swallows thickly. His eyes are big and vulnerable, with a touch of deep-rooted fear, when they find Scar's again. "I—" he stammers again, in a completely different pitch this time.

His wings slide off of Scar's back, reclaiming their spot behind Grian, making themselves smaller. (And yet. And yet they're still not as tightly pressed to his spine as they used to be.) 

He thinks of a bright spot of violet, permanently tied to Scar, on display. In a world where that particular brilliant shade is as good as a death sentence.

"I don't know," he finishes in an unsteady half whisper, heart hammering painfully in his chest.

Scar

Scar's ear flicks when touched, but the feather remains tucked where it is; he even twitches upward to make sure of it. He watches Grian fumble with his words and how his wings retreat, nervous and almost ashamed of their gorgeous hue. Scar finds that he really does not like that.

He meets Grian's eyes, steady even as his own are still red from shed tears. "Do you want me to?" Then, softer, serious. "I want to." His eyes flick downward, pondering his next words carefully before seemingly resolving to something. He looks back up and adds, unwavering. "Maybe dangerous, but... feels good. Feels… right."

Grian

Grian doesn't even have to consider Scar's question; he knows the answer instantly. Yes. Yes, he does want that, but—

He can't. He can't say that. He can't bear the implications, the possibilities. He can't stand the thought of making scar any more of a target than he already is.

He feels his eyes water as his heart is locked in this hopeless fight. Scar tells him he wants to do it, and that it feels right, and damn, Grian knows it feels right—it feels so, so horribly right for Scar to wear the feather on proud display.

And still. Grian's eyes close, sending tears tumbling down. His head dips as he shakes it no, suddenly so very afraid.

He doesn't want Scar to get hurt because of him. Because of this. Because of a silly, sentimental foolishness.

Scar

Scar pauses, heart aching at the display of complicated emotions that shower over Grian's face, shifting and moving until he lands on something all too close to despair and dips his head low.

Scar chews his lip, also dismayed by the reality they live in, before pulling his little avian in close again, pressing him to his chest where he can cry. 

"Maybe... just for now," he whispers, secure in their current privacy. "And we'll figure it out?"

Eventually, after many talks and reassurances and sinking, fearful feelings, Scar ends up fashioning the feather into an earring. He already has one ear pierced, and easily uses that to have the feather on him. 

It’s a security risk, in a way. But Scar needs it, needs to be able to proudly proclaim that they belong to each other. That whoever might want Grian’s feathers would have to go through him first.

And they do. Go through him first.

There’s an incident where a hunter gets grasp of the feather and yanks it. (They want that feather <3) It takes the whole earring with it, sending a spike of pain through Scar.

There’s a lot of blood.

Scar doesn’t care.

All he cares about is the fact that this hunter now has Grian’s feather in his grasp, and he’s not meant to have that, he can’t, it doesn’t belong to him.

(He once promised Grian that nobody can have his wings, and that extends to this feather, too. To any part of Grian, really.) (And yet Grian gave himself over to Scar so fully, so willingly.)

And... yep. Scar goes a little feral. As a treat.

He takes that hunter down.

In the aftermath of it, he clutches the bloodied earring close to his chest, needing to feel it, to shield it, to make sure it’s his, nobody else has it, just him. He is determined to fiercely protect it, because of everything it means. And because Grian gave it to him.

Speaking of, Grian’s inconsolable. He’s very, very upset; this just adds to his fears that he’s only ever going to get Scar hurt. That nothing good comes from his feathers. That they’re just an omen bringing blood and death. (Something that’ll be reinforced later, too <3) 

He doesn’t want Scar to be in that firing line. He doesn’t want Scar to get any more hurt because of him. Not for a single feather. (Even if that single feather means everything.)

All he thinks about is that he was right— His feather did lead to Scar getting hurt. And it’s awful, and he feels sick, and guilty, and so very hopelessly, fearfully sad.

But Scar isn’t deterred. He doesn’t care; he’d willingly fight the whole world for this. (For Grian.) He stubbornly pierces his other ear, and it bleeds too, but it doesn’t matter. He puts the earring right back in. (Yep, this is how the earring swapped sides—)

Of course they talk about it. And it’s a mess. It’s even more complicated than before.

Scar ends up saying, “Grian, if it really makes you uncomfortable I’ll— I’ll keep it hidden, but if it’s only for my sake, then no. Please let me wear it.”

And… Well, Grian has no idea how to feel. 

He doesn’t want to put Scar in danger. But also, seeing that feather? Seeing Scar wear it? It reinstates everything they are to each other, every whispered, sobbed-out promise, every comforting touch and press of lips, every small, hard-fought laughter. 

Scar wearing the feather both soothes Grian immeasurably, and makes him sick to his stomach with dread.

But ultimately, he leaves the choice in Scar’s hands.

And Scar decides to wear it. (He’ll take down anyone who tries to touch it <3)

Analysing the Quality of Napoleon's Marshals With Silly Data Science

Let's talk numbers and laugh at funny graphs with missing data!

Other people in this fandom do really lovely detailed information posts, I do weird fanfic, dragon shitposting, body pillow design shitposting and run a stupid Lannes ask rp blog. But! I'm also a programmer with an interest in Numbers, and today we're going to Analyse These Dead Frenchmen with a bunch of screenshots of graphs.

Ethan Arsht published a really interesting article called Napoleon was the Best General Ever, and the Math Proves it., where using data scraped off Wikipedia articles, he creates a statistical model drawing from multiple variables per battle to calculate How Good A General Is At Winning.

Give the article a read, it's great stuff, but if you don't feel like it, he basically applies WAR - "Wins Above Replacement" - which is a value from baseball that measures how many wins a player is worth when compared to a replacement.

So the general's WAR would be how well they compare to a completely average general who replaced them. Yes, as Arsht says, "in other words, I would find the generals’ WAR, in war."

But as he says, this is not a stringent historical analysis and is more of a fun thought experiment. Wikipedia is probably the most comprehensive dataset on this topic that he had access to, but it is Wikipedia the crowdsourced online encyclopedia, so it is going to have holes and inaccuracies. And this was written seven years ago, and the data was collected then, so any updates to these articles since then wouldn't be reflected.

And it's not a perfect model that takes into account everything - it's an approximation, a whole bunch of number crunching. I haven't looked too deeply into how the numbers work exactly, even though I could.

I think that 0 would be "completely and utterly average"? A positive WAR is good, a negative WAR is not. Napoleon is the best general ever at 16.679 WAR, the next highest is Caesar at 7.445 WAR.

But I'm interested in Napoleon's marshals. The 26 men he raised up to military nobility! The dramatic assholes who kept arguing with each other. I'll post links for all of them at the end of this, but I won't be screenshotting each of their WAR graphs, just a few.

I'm not entirely sure how the scraper collected the information about what battles a commander is considered in "charge" of - I tried looking at the provided code repository but I am reminded that data science people bless them are not really good at structuring or publishing code and why are all the html pages just straight up saved in the root folder why are the jupyter notebook outputs just uncleared aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Oh yeah this was scraped from seven years ago so current wikipedia pages won't be reflective of what's on the graphs - so we can assume that this is just grabbing stuff from the "Commanders and leaders" part from each individual battle page and collating them into numbers

Anyway let's look at the iron man himself, Davout, considered to be the best of Napoleon's marshals.

honestly this is the entire reason why i wanted to write this post

in soult's defense - as a soult defender - he had a pretty shitty army full of conscripts, was isolated, was occasionally pretty bad at adapting tactically to new surprises and had to deal with the english being stubborn fuckers, but he was brilliant in setting things up strategically and forcing the english to catch up through a fighting retreat with a demoralised army, stopping them from closing in on france too

but also the way this graph bullies soult so hard makes me laugh a lot

Anyway, yeah, these graphs are definitely inaccurate and I'm also posting these to see the Napoleonic community on tumblr's reaction to them, but they are a fun way to engage with history!

Just don't take them seriously, and feel free to argue in the tags/comments/reblogs

I could theoretically use this guy's code to rerun this just for the Marshals now - I know my way around some data science code - but I do have a lot on my plate, but it would be a fun experiment!

So there's a homestuck rp server run by Antis called Serverstuck where they literally banned the creation of adult fantrolls that aren't important to server lore, basically everyone outside the staffs team, from 2017-2018 to early April 2023

I made 2 OCs there a week prior to the creation ban was lifted, got banned and called a pedophile for putting my OCs who was 13 & 15 in a relationship (nothing NSFW)

They decided not to put a banner that literally said [TERFS, TRANSMEDS, ZIONISTS, PRO-PARA, PROSHIP, AND EXCLUSIONISTS WILL BE SHOT ON SIGHT] on the ads they put for Homestuck Requiem Cafe event last year, 2 people got banned from their local homestuck community because the mods decided to ban them since one of them allows people to commision dead dove content & made everyone in their local homestuck community label them as dangerous. I had to email the requiem team about the server because they will put another physical ads at the event area.

The server owner is Derry Luttrell, he has a TTRPG podcast named Dice Will Roll where for suspicious reasons there are no mention of any Antis rhetorics. His name is already public knowledge through the prodcast because he linked his PROFESSIONAL TWITTER on the podcast's website

I have screenshots, I would rather stay anonymous though because there are people who came forward saying the mods harassed them after being banned

I will always be baffled about antis in the Homestuck fandom. Like uh, excuse me? ppl who say freddie doesn’t do emotional rp or is only just doing it now since taylor cried are doing a MAJOR disservice to freddie’s rp talent. that guy’s been rping emotional moments since early s1 (ep 28 with the phonecall is a classic + ep 23 i think? where he reveals morgan is dead) and just because it isn’t a crying breakdown or a panic attack doesn’t make it any less emotional

also while taylor’s been more emotionally resilient than other characters he’s still not an “unbothered king” (gets angry at link when it’s revealed he bugged him for the FBI, is angry occassionally throughout the season but especially at scary during ep 27 onwards) he just filters everything though the lens of anime so it’s easier to process

freddie does an amazing job at showcasing subtle emotions and combining humour with devastating moments (ep 62(?) on the beach where he reveals his “book of wins and losses” and shows that it’s just All been losses - a moment played for comedy but it’s devastating when you think about it) and while the jokes about him being allergic to emotional moments are kinda funny (glenn IS a character who avoids dwelling serious emotional moments to the best of his ability after all - which is what makes him so interesting and 3D) i’ve seen wayyyy too many people take it seriously recently

glenn’s BEEN emotional. taylor’s BEEN emotional. he’s been angry for serious reasons and not so serious reasons, he’s been insecure about the reason his dad left (ep where scary has to insult them), he’s been scared (FBI base - sold out the daddies when threatened with lasers + ran from nicky), he intentionally put on that he was okay with link’s sacrifice until nick was gone because he knew nick would stop him from going back to save him

and if i tried to list every moment of glenn’s i’d be here all day because that’s 69 episodes to get through of emotional development rp. anyway. give freddie the credit he deserves please. just because there’s a comedic tinge or the character likes to repress doesn’t make it any less real of an emotional moment

During an rp we had a character that become blind. Overtime learned to use magic to sense their environment kind of like Tophs ability to see through the earth. It made me wonder how the M6 of the arcana would react to a blind Mc that uses magic to sense the world around them.

People's different auras helping Mc not run into anyone since a person's aura covers them, which would also give a gentle guide for what they look like. Details like scars, freckles, facial expressions being invisible to them. Since everything has a bit if magic in it their able to walk around fine usually, if an area is filled with too much magic it clogs the sense making it impossible to pick out specific things. Which effects how they set up the shop, making sure not to have too many powerful magic items just laging around.

I've always loved the idea of using magic to help with a disability!

I also think that actually some facial features would be clear to a blind apprentice: some traits and colors people carry are often full of meaning for the owner. I think about the delight that you get when you see the gold reflections catching the sun, or the shame that surrounds an unwanted feature, like those same lip shape a cruel parent had.

I picture that this features appear to the apprentice's magic eye, the more relevant the brighter, as islands of light and clarity in a otherwise dark and unclear face.

I like how this implies that a blind MC will be able to magically see the M6 appearances kinda as they see it - you know when you take a picture of youself and seems as you can only see that one particular detail of your face, either positive or "negative"?

Anyway, going back to your ask:

She won't ask or comment about your disability, but you somehow percieve that she picked up the information. Infact, the next day, along with your clothes you find a small, in-scale model of the palace. There's more: you find out that as soon as you think about going somewhere, a trail of magic that leads there appears at your fingertips. Maybe it wasn't necessary for you, but it's so extremely thoughtful that you end up using it just to soak in the deep care Nadia put into that thinf for you.

Asra

Magic eye isn't new to him: he knows exactly what to do. As soon as you enter in his gateway you realize that everything is perfectly clear to you. There isn't anything "visual" there: everything revolves around the other 4 senses, and is crafted in a way that doesn't overstimulate you.

Lucio

He starts asking a huge number of questions out of genuine curiosity. In a matter of days, he explains his dogs how to help you with anything, and after a bit he gifts you a magical creature you can link your mind to and experience the world through it's eyes.

Being a smal reptile, you soon realizes that you can't see the regular visible light, but infrared light instead. The thing excites Lucio, so he starts a quest to find the most curious-seeing creatures. Your favourite ends up being the shrimp who sees colors invisible to the regular human eye.

This doesn't resolve your blindeness, since no eyesight is similar enough to human's, but opens up a wolrd of discovery.

Julian

Buys a second eyepatch to wear and asks you to show him the world through your eyes. After this experience, he learns how to describe you everything you cannot see... and you have the impression that the world described by him is so much more than what you'd see with human eyes.

He also starts playing instruments way much more for you and you only, writing many songs for you.

Portia

She starts by asking many questions, if you're ok with it. After this, she decides to care for all of your senses, baking food and using so many different fabrics ans textures to sew you beautiful clothes.

Muriel

He becomes your guide in every magical place you go to. He makes sure to puts sigils and magical objects in positions where they won't bother you in his hut.
