Just curious, what’s your opinions on Kristoph and Phoenix? I see you reblog ship posts about them sometimes and I’m really curious about your opinions on their dynamic both inside and outside of ship stuff, because I didn’t really know how to interpret Kristoph in particular. I think he’s one of the worse villains in AA tbh, it’s been a while so I may be misremembering, but I just didn’t… get that much substance from him?
kristoph is certainly a really hard character for me to fully develop an opinion on in isolation. i think the only area where i'm capable of saying anything about him i can back up with significant references to the text is in regard to his relationship with phoenix, because that's where the meat of his character interactions are. and more broadly because as a #phoenixhead my primary means of looking at the entire franchise is how things relate to phoenix. if you'd like to read about my interpretation of phoenix and kristoph's relationship more specifically i've got a post on that subject here. i think it's a character dynamic that has a TON going for it relative to the screentime if you're able to disregard fanon and look directly at what's in the text.
but more on kristoph individually
kristoph suffers from the same thing that all of aa4's major characters and plotlines do: not getting another game. there was clearly more to the gavin brothers' story we didn't get and will never get, and knowing that there's Something there we have absolutely no means of predicting or unraveling makes it hard to theorize. he kind of exists in a quantum state for me where i can see a ton of alternate perspectives on his character's complexities and just buy whichever one i'm feeling at a given moment. i personally wouldn't say he lacks substance because every interaction he has with any other character is, imo, very compelling and gives me a lot to chew on. but he's a character that's all questions and no real conclusions for sure.
i don't think he's a cackling machiavellian serial abuser. i think hes easily the kind of person who has the capacity to be emotionally abusive and manipulative to the people closest to him without being Pure Evil. because we have so little on him it's very easy to portray kristoph as the kind of sinister that provides whatever OP's favorite flavor of angst is. and i'm certainly no exception to that; i just happen to be a person who is into maybe some subtler flavors.
he's both one of ace attorney's most calculated villains, with poisoning vera's nailpolish being an incredibly cold maneuver that suggests a lot of foresight, and one of ace attorney's most brutal murderers, capable of getting aggressive enough in a moment to bludgeon a man to death with a bottle. i think kristoph can be understood as a character whose primary motivation is control, both over himself and others. there's that critical line in turnabout succession where he tells klavier he's out of control, and klavier says "whos control? mine, or yours?" his reputation is built on his ability to stay calm under pressure, and his ability to stay calm under pressure is built on his tendencies to preemptively engineer situations in his favor. the stuff with phoenix and the gramarye case represents what we can presume to be the biggest failure of his career.
i think this puts him very much in line with AA1's main villains. people like to compare him to dahlia a lot for obvious reasons and there's some fun to be had there but i think it lets people overlook how well he ties into AA1. redd white controlled the press and controlled the judges to get away with his blackmail ring. von karma controlled the witnesses to engineer his perfect cases. damon gant controlled the police and the evidence, and then controlled lana to control the prosecution. although those were all one-case villains i think kristoph justifies his larger scope in aa4 by the significant and longstanding personal connections he has to the rest of the main cast. kristoph represents the mirror image of those AA1 villains; aa1 shows the way the deck is stacked against the defense. kristoph shows what it looks like when someone tries to stack it in the other direction
i think kristoph plays an important part in the larger franchise by showing what corruption looks like from the defense's bench, and how this corruption takes a different cadence when it lacks the systemic power that the villains like gant had. i think his cold, calculated approach to defense works well as a foil to the type of defending we saw from phoenix who is all heart and charges in head first. i think apollo works well representing a sort of compromise between the two, being a little bit shrewder than phoenix but no less earnest. i think klavier, then, as a prosecutor who is much less aggressive than the previous 3 both personally and professional serves to further invert the expectations set by the trilogy in a way that's really satisfying.
is kristoph missing some pretty critical backstory that i would love to see? yeah. absolutely. but i think when you look at him as a story device rather than an underdeveloped character he adds a tonnnnn to the series. that said, i will die wondering.

I have a lot of thoughts about the ways I see the characters and themes of ace attorney discussed within the fanbase so I wanted to try to articulate some things that I notice in the ways the fandom analyzes and tries to apply literary criticism to these games.
Remember that a text can be viewed from multiple literary lenses. The most important to understand as a basis for everything if you're going to analyze a text is formalism, which is based strictly on what is directly shown IN the text. This means the more obvious plot, themes, settings, characters etc. For example, in terms of AA, this means the setting is either Japan or America (I love Japanifornia as much as the next guy and you could argue it's pseudo-canon, but it's not established in either version of the original text itself so it doesn't really work from the view of a formalist). And the theme of Ace Attorney, from the view of a formalist, would be something like "justice is in the pursuit of truth" and maybe a secondary, underlying theme of revenge. So formalism isn't analyzing the text through knowledge of outside factors like cultural elements, audience response, or even the creator(s) of the text itself. Formalism isn't really psychoanalyzing the characters beyond what's necessary to discuss the larger themes of the text. Formalism on its own is pretty much bound to what is directly referenced within the piece of media.
Now, formalism has it's uses, but it also has its limits. It makes an attempt to be objective and unbiased and can give us a good basis from which to make further inquiry, but ultimately, even if it was possible to be completely unbiased (it isn't) art isn't MEANT to be viewed in a vacuum. Often, the creator intends for you to keep these outside facts or cultural biases in mind when viewing media. But even aside from whatever the original intent behind it was, it's also very valid and even important & necessary in many cases to break away from the restraints of the original tone of the narrative and analyze a text from a different point of view.
What I notice a lot in fandom but especially around AA for some reason is that a lot of people will only consider a formalist reading of the text and will be completely unwilling to even consider let alone criticize anything from outside of that context. OR, quite often what people in fandom will do is they'll be willing to apply other literary lenses like psychoanalysis or even queer theory but ONLY to the characters THEY personally deem worthy (hint hint its usually men) and then get upset when people apply this theory to the characters they don't want to think about (usually mostly women)
Anyway the point of this post is there are multiple valid and legitimate readings of a text and female characters are more than just "girlboss" and "the only braincell" ok thank you bye

I'm re-watching an ace attorney playthrough and you're the only tum blog i know who's also a fan/draws tum fanart of them and I had lil idea I wanted to share because I love putting characters in horrible situations: An earthquake hitting and causing pregnant Edgeworth to get stuck in an elevator, and the panic/stress triggers his labor. Or just an earthquake happening while he's giving birth and it just makes it so much harder for him
-boytumms :)
OH POOR GUY!!!
I feel like I read a fic with this premise a few years back, but I think it is lost to time :(
But I can fully picture this. He decides that regardless of his feelings about elevators... the stairs are too much for him. He's too close to his due date, his belly is too heavy to want to deal with multiple flights of stairs, even if he had been very stubborn about taking the stairs most of his pregnancy. One time wouldn't hurt... right?
LOTS of rambles under the cut >:)
God forbid he's alone, and/or doesn't even have phone service to call for help or support. It's a worst time, worst place situation. and I can't think if it would be kinder for him to struggle enough with labor that he doesn't make much progress before he can escape, or for labor to go painfully and shockingly fast, but... at least it's over? Either way he's screwed and it feels like it takes SO damn long, he's terrified about breathing too much and losing consciousness, or bleeding out.
From a wholesome, love conquers all perspective, I think Miles needing to go through labor while trapped, panicking and reliving bad memories- but HAVING PHOENIX WITH HIM, is genuinely such a narrative win.
Yes, the death of his dad in an elevator during his early childhood was immensely traumatic, and spurred YEARS of living in a newly abusive home life WHILE BLAMING HIMSELF FOR WHAT HAPPENED... but to have the man that proved he was innocent, that always believed in him, that has done SO MUCH for him... be right by his side? Is genuinely priceless. Phoenix is still a goofball that wouldn't know how to handle the situation at ALL, but he'd be there, he'd offer his hand to hold and be there to guide Miles through breathing. He'd do everything he could.
and to top it all off... he would come out of this traumatic event meeting his baby (or babies) and realizing it's a fresh start. Instead of the inciting incident for his terrible childhood and early adult life... it's the start of a whole new life that he can insure never has as tough of a time as he did.
And as a final situation, with a lot of dramatic flair:
Imagine a situation where an earthquake hits, he's stuck in an elevator, and things START to look up. He does get the chance to call for help, and ends up calling Phoenix, who rushes to be as close to his partner's side as he can be, not ONLY because of the panic but because... Mile's DOES realize he's in labor, and it IS just too much for him.
Phoenix gets there, but is given the unfortunate news that it's gonna take HOURS for technicians to solve the problem. Luckily they can open the doors to the elevator and there is some kind of access... but it would be almost impossible to get Miles OUT given how narrow all the gaps around the elevator are and how VERY pregnant Miles is.
So Phoenix is left waiting nearby, just outside, just barely within reach, but THERE. It's a lot of pain, a lot of panic and more than anything else a lot of waiting... but they do try their best and eventually make it through.

Klavier gets a vague text from Apollo on his day off asking him to meet in the park. Whatever could be the reason?
Klavier woke up to a day like any other. It was a Saturday, so he wouldn't have to go to work, or do much of anything really. He would lounge around with his brother's dog, he hadn't even known his brother had a dog before... but he did and now that dog was technically Klavier's dog. Vongole was sweet and friendly, and Klavier had always been a dog person, and though it had been 6 months already, it would likely be a little longer before he could think of her as his own dog. It still sometimes felt like he was just dog sitting and his brother would come back any day. He could tell Vongole felt the same. But Kristoph wasn't coming back. He was going to continue sitting in a cell on death row until the state appointed reaper came to harvest what was left of his brother's soul.
An hour or so into lounging, Klavier received a text. Herr Forehead! Now there was someone who could always brighten Klavier's day. His courtroom rival always had such interesting reactions and expressions, it was hard not to enjoy his presences. And of course his genuineness and intensity were hard to ignore. Plus they sought the same thing in the courtroom, even if they had basically nothing in common outside of it... Right, the text.
HF: Are you doing anything today?
That was unexpected. Usually it was Klavier trying to see the attorney outside of work. And he had yet to be successful.
KG: Is this your way of asking me out on a date? ;)
The response was almost immediate.
HF: NO!!!
Klavier chuckled. He could imagine the chords of steel and how Apollo would blush in response.
HF: I wouldn't ask someone out over text, that's just tacky. HF: I was just wondering.
A multi-texter then. Klavier filed that knowledge away in the folder of absolutely useless information he knew about people. If only his brain would use that space to remember the things he actually needed to.
KG: Did you need something? I am always available for you, Schatzi.
Was he maybe laying it on a little thick? Sure. But he was Klavier Gavin, after all.
HF: I don't NEED anything. Why are you being so weird?
… That wasn't the response he expected. He had thought that his text was totally in character- Ah, maybe that was it. Herr Forehead had never been fond of his 'character', and he had a habit of seeing right through it, though he was pretty sure it had something to do with the intense staring, so he wasn't sure how that had worked over text.
KG: I am just trying to ask what exactly you are asking. HF: I asked if you're doing anything today, but I'm guessing you're not since you love telling people all about your plans and all you've done so far is dodge the question. Meet me at People Park. KG: That's a bold assumption.
He waited a minute, but Apollo didn't respond again.
KG: You didn't even tell me what time.
Again, Klavier did not get a response. He groaned.
KG: Can I bring Vongole? HF: Sure. KG: Oh, so that you'll respond to.
You know, Klavier was getting a little annoyed by this point. Not only was Forehead being mysterious and quite frankly rude, Klavier was going to have to go incognito which meant dressing plainly, and Apollo had never seen him dress this way. It was a tragedy, honestly. He should have expected it though, since when he woke up this morning his coffee machine had broken. Maybe he could still wear something cute.
Looking through his clothes, Klavier found a lavender sweater that used to be his mother's and some black ripped skinny jeans Daryan had made him buy. He hadn't worn either in ages, but they would do nicely. Despite being half way through April, it was still a bit chilly. It was... difficult to put the pants on, not because they didn't fit, but because he could remember so vividly the day they had been bought. A lot had changed since then. Too much. Too little. The sweater was a comfort, though. If his mother were there, she would know just what to say, just what to do. But she wasn't, so Klavier just finished getting ready and called for Vongole. All he had to do was say 'park' and she was ready to go.
When he arrived at People Park, he put his 'please don't recognize me' baseball cap on. He had elected to leave his hair down and free in hopes that it would further distance himself from his public persona. It wasn't hard to find Apollo, his red sweatshirt immediately drawing Klavier's eye. He was sitting on a bench, watching the birds, or at least looking in the sky in their direction. It was always hard for Klavier to tell what Apollo was thinking.
“Herr Forehead!”
Apollo turned to look at him, staring again, appraising.
“Uh, hiya. You're, umm... Hi.” “Ja, hallo.” “Right. Oh!” Vongole jumped up onto the bench next to him. “Well hello there, princess. It's been a while, hasn't it.”
Apollo Justice just called his dog 'princess'. That was adorable. But... they'd met before? How... interesting, that Kristoph had introduced Apollo to his dog, but never spoke about his brother even once. Whatever. It didn't matter now.
“Prosecutor Gavin?” “Hmm?” “Are you ok?” His face must have been showing his thoughts. Unfortunately Herr Forehead had always been good at reading him. “Ja, I'm fine. But call me Klavier, bitte. This is hardly the courtroom.” “Oh, um... ok. Klavier.”
Apollo said his name like it was a piece of testimony he wasn't sure about. Klavier didn't know how to feel about that.
“W-well, then you have to call me Apollo!” Apollo suddenly burst out. “No more Forehead business.” Klavier blinked, paused, and chuckled. “Of course. Apollo, then.”
Apollo's cheeks flushed a bit, but Klavier couldn't tell what the source was. Perhaps embarrassment at his outburst? It's not like Klavier minded. It was all part of that unique Forehead charm. Apollo.
“So what did you have planned now that you've drawn me out here? Nothing nefarious, I hope.” “Wh- No! Why would you even ask that,” Apollo huffed. Klavier was about to apologize, but Apollo continued, “I just um... I dunno.” “Now see, the thing is, I don't think that's true. I think you just don't want to tell me.”
Apollo looked at him and squinted his eyes, possibly trying to guess what Klavier had figured out, which was genuinely nothing. Apollo was a mystery to him still, Klavier just knew that he didn't do things without reason, or maybe reason wasn't quite correct, considering the blunders he frequently made in court. No, intent was more like it. Apollo had some intent inviting him out.
“You know, I think I've got you all figured out,” Klavier lied. He knew Apollo would know. “You've finally succumbed to my charms and were hoping to make a confession in the place that we first met. How romantic!” Apollo glared at him. “Get real, Gavin.” “Then perhaps the defence has an alternate theory?” “... Nope.”
Well that was rude. Now Klavier had a lot of traits, some good, some... less good, but quite possibly the most intense was that Klavier Gavin was a nosy bitch and he needed to know! Apollo had never invited him anywhere before, especially not like this. And here he was just sitting on a park bench petting Klavier's dog and giving her pet names like they hung out all the time! Sure, he had felt a sort of connection with the other man during their court battles, and he hoped that Apollo had felt it too, but they weren't close by any stretch of the word. In fact he had been pretty certain up until that text that Apollo wasn't very fond of him at all.
“You're thinking too much. Do you want to feed the ducks?” “I- Hä?” “They're really friendly, though now that I think about it, Vongole might chase them. We could walk around the pond, though. Maybe she's mellowed out since then.” Vongole certainly had not mellowed out, or if she had, she must have been a terror before, but Klavier thought that maybe if he said yes he might get to find out what he wanted to know. “Ja, a walk sounds nice.” “Cool.”
Vongole did try to chase the ducks, but funnily enough it was Apollo who got her to calm down.
“You're very good with her.” “Ah, um...” Apollo winced and looked to the side. “If I mimic him well enough she listens. She always behaved for him, but I think someone taught her to do whatever she wanted when he wasn't there.” “Ah...” What else could he say? He had to imagine it wasn't a fun thing for Apollo to do. “Was... was he a good mentor?” “The best,” Apollo replied without hesitation. “Was he a good brother?” “Ja... Ja, the best.” “Too bad he's a piece of shit.”
Klavier froze. Apollo was always a little out of pocket, but, well, how was anyone supposed to respond to that. Once Klavier found his wits he looked to Apollo who was similarly frozen in place. Vongole had sat down on the trail between them looking very pleased with herself. And Klavier laughed. He laughed hard and with his whole body. It felt like years since he had laughed so hard, though really it might have been. By the time he was done he was crouched down and wheezing, tears streaming from his eyes.
“Ja, too bad. Mein arschgeige Bruder had to go and lie and cheat and kill and my best friend followed suit. Mein Gott they are assholes.” Well Apollo looked worried now, but Klavier felt great. “You know, when I was little he used to sing me back to sleep when I had a nightmare, and if it was a bad one he would let me sleep in his bed. And whenever I would get scraped up doing something stupid, which believe it or not, happened often,” he heard Apollo snort at that, “he would bandage me up and scold me for being so reckless. No matter how many times I did, or how stupid the stunt he would still help me. Even just a few years ago I was worried about him so I asked him to help me with a cut I got and he still did. I'm not certain when exactly it started, but I had noticed by the time I turned 16 that he was more closed off, more paranoid. I tried my best, and sometimes I still feel like I should have tried harder, but how could I have known? And why would he ever have talked to me about it? I wasn't just a kid, I was a kid he raised. He needed someone else and there was no one. It always was just us against the world. Of course I made friends, whatever good that did me, but he never did. I'm glad he had Vongole. You know after all of the times I had asked for one as a kid, that bastard finally went and got a dog as soon as I left. He was right not to let me have one, but still. And every year for my birthday-” Klavier froze. His birthday. He looked up to Apollo who nodded with a sad smile. “Every year for my birthday which is today, he would bake me Oma's topfentorte,” Klavier spoke slowly. “He wasn't perfect, but he was my brother. Still is, I guess.”
Klavier got the distinct feeling that if Apollo didn't stop him, he would just keep going until he'd spilled his guts all over the path. He also had a feeling that Apollo wouldn't stop him.
“And then there was Daryan. Whenever Kristoph and I fought, Daryan was always in my corner. And, I mean, Daryan was an asshole in the first place, but he was my asshole. My best friend. And I would have done just about anything for him. And I still have no idea why he did it, because he won't tell me, and if he did it for a good reason, I don't see why he wouldn't. I also don't see why he would have gotten a child involved. The only thing he will tell me is how pissed he is that I didn't help him get out of it, as if that's something anyone who knows me would ever think I'd do. Maybe, maybe, if it had just been the smuggling and his intentions were good, but how could he ever think I would help a murderer?”
Tears were welling in his eyes again, so he tilted his head up in an effort to not let them fall. It was bad enough he had just dumped all of this on Apollo, someone he couldn't even really be considered friends with, he didn't want to start crying in front of him, too.
“You don't have to do that.”
Klavier looked at Apollo in confusion.
“I mean, obviously if it makes you uncomfortable, then you can do whatever, I mean you can anyway, but there's no one else here. It's just me. And Vongole, but I don't think that's a problem for you. So... you can cry if you need to. It fucking sucks what they put you through. And it's not fair because you're so good. And I mean no one should have to go through that, but especially you. You're so kind and determined and strong. I don't like that they've made you second guess yourself, and I don't like that they've damaged your sense of security. You deserve good things. If you can't have them... Um, but, yeah. There are still people who care about you, you know?” “I... I'm beginning to see that.” “Yeah, um, actually, if you wanted, Trucy kind of prepared this whole thing back at the Agency, she's not going to be upset if you're not feeling up to it, but she invited a couple of people. She's going to call me when it's all ready.” “Ah, I'm... You all are too kind.” “It's nothing, really. They're like that with everyone.” “And you? I seem to recall you being rather prickly with most people.” “I'm not prickly, people are just annoying...” Apollo grumbled. Klavier laughed. “And yet you feel for them all the same.”
Apollo huffed. They stood in silence, watching the ducks, Vongole watching a little more intently than the humans beside her.
“So what about you?” “Me?” “I've just poured my heart out to you, do you have anything to get off your chest?” “... Nope. I'm fine.” “Really,” Klavier gave him his best judgemental look. “Yep.” “So there's absolutely nothing you would benefit from sharing?” “Let's put it this way, the only reason anyone knows my birthday is because they needed a birth certificate to hire me and the only reason anyone knows my favorite color is because I wear it everyday. I am content to live out my days with my closest companion being my cat.” “... You have a cat?” “... Maybe...” “That's it, I have a new goal in life.” “Oh, goody,” Apollo deadpanned. “I'm going to figure you out.” “Good luck with that.” “Thank you, I will take it.” “Wait, no, I didn't actually mean-” “It's too late. I have it now.” “Well bad luck then! Bad luck!” “No, I think you can keep that one.” “No! Take the bad luck! You already have the good luck so it will just balance out!” “I would argue that in general I have exceedingly bad luck.” “... Ok, you can keep the good luck, but use it on a case or something.” “The case of Apollo Justice.” “No, a different one.” “Nuh-uh, sorry.” “Did you just 'nuh-uh' me?” “What're you gonna do about it, Forehead?” Klavier grinned Apollo grinned right back at him. “Hey! I'll show you what I'm gonna do, Gavin-”
They were cut off by Guitar's Serenade playing out. That was probably for the best since Vongole was latching on to their excitement, and she was a menace while excited.
“Oh, that's Trucy.” He answered the phone, which looked absolutely ancient in Klavier’s opinion. A flip phone? Really? “Hey, Truce... Woah, calm down I already told him... Why wouldn't I? Not everyone likes surprises... I'll ask him then! Do you like surprises?” Oh, that one was for him. “Ah, sometimes. In this case I'm glad you told me, though.” “Did you hear that? … No, how do I put it on speaker? … Ok, well he said he was glad I told him... Well, yeah- Actually, wait, he never gave me an answer. Do you want to go? To the thing Trucy did- I know it's called a party,” he grumbled the last bit into his phone. “Ja. I think that will be nice.” “He said yes... No, I'm not going to tell him that, tell him yourself when we get there... Ack! I'm hanging up now, bye!” “Umm...” “Ok, let's go. She'll have my head if we take too long.” “What was that last bit about?” “Absolutely nothing.” “Fine, fine. I'll just ask Fraulein Magician when we get there.” “You can ask.” “You don't think I'll get an answer?” “Nope.” “I bet I can.” “I bet you can't.” “You're on.”
Apollo sighed and shook his head, a small smile still gracing his features.
“Oh, before that...” “Yeah?” Apollo's full attention was right back on him, not that Klavier was sure it had ever left. “If you ever need to have a breakdown with someone other than your cat... I don't believe in transactional care, but it would make us even.” Klavier flicked his bangs. “And I wouldn't mind.” “... Yeah. Ok.”
Klavier still had the feeling that if at all possible, Apollo would never follow through, but he had done all he could to make it an option.
“So what kind of cake did they get me?” “How am I supposed to know? My job was to get you there and that's it.” Klavier chuckled. “They wouldn't tell you, would they.” “'Wouldn't you like to know, Apollo?'” Apollo did his best Trucy impression if Trucy was also incredibly annoyed by the things she was saying.
Klavier laughed. He wasn't sure exactly how Apollo felt, but as far as he was concerned, Klavier had walked into that park lonely and out with a friend.

How about an au where qRoier is a police officer and qCellbit is a famous private detective hired by the government to assist the police with a really difficult case?
In this, Cellbit would be used to working alone so he wouldn't be very excited when Roier was assigned as his assistant during his investigation. At first he refuses to have him as a partner/assistant even tries to push him away but little by little he begins to get used to Roier's presence, there begins to be more and more trust between the two until all of this leads to the realization that what they both feel for each other may be more than simple affection/companionship.
∆∆∆
"Why did you follow me?"
"Why didn't you tell your sexy police assistant that you were coming to investigate this place?"
"Because I don't need a "assistant", I can investigate and deduce by myself"
"And that's how it works, you are going to do all your enigma and mystery stuff while I use bullets and fists when necessary, you are more like the brain and I'm the muscle that contributes from time to time"
∆∆∆
"Be careful"
"Aaaww so you DO care about me"
"I mean, be careful you don't contaminate my crime scene"
"Did you have to ruin the moment like that?"
"It was you who didn't let me finish the sentence"
"Culero"
"Pendejo"
∆∆∆
"There is a small problem"
"What is it?"
"We may have fallen into a trap and we are in danger here"
"No mames"
"Yeah, if I'm not wrong, this place may explode in a couple of minutes"
"I told you it was strange that the murderer left clues on how to find them, and you call yourself a detective?! ¡¿No que muy detective cabrón?!"
"¡Cale a boca e corra, filho da puta! We have to get out of here, you can say "I told you so" as many times as you want when we're outside!"
∆∆∆
"Why did you decide to be a detective?"
"It's a long story"
"Isn't there a short version I can listen to?"
"I like solving mysteries and I'm pretty good at it"
"And that's it?" Cellbit nodded "I feel like that wasn't even 2% of the full story" Cellbit nodded again.
"And why did you decide to be a police officer?"
"Long story"
"Can I listen to the short version too?"
"The uniform looks sexy on me" They both broke loose laughing. "Someday will I be able to hear the full version of your story Cellbo?"
"Let's make a deal, when this is all over, let's go for a coffee and exchange stories, what do you think?"
"Oh, how subtle Mr. Detective, if you wanted a date with me, you just had to ask for it"
"Pendejo"
"We're both pendejos, aren't we?" Roier laughed.
"I think you're right, we are"
"And I accept the deal"
"What-..?"
"Let's go get that coffee when we have that criminal behind bars" Roier smiled.
Cellbit's brain stopped working for a moment and the only thing he could think was "Has Roier's smile always been this bright?"
I see romcom potential with this idea and I would like to know if someone has already written something like this because I want to read it :D
Edit: If there is anyone in the world who wants to use this, you can do so.
[I was playing the great ace attorney when this hit my brain xd]

Have you played the AA Investigations games? If yes, what did you think of them? Sadly I was only able to play for myself the first one (I couldn't make the translation patch for the second one work :( ), and let's just say that the novelty of playing as Edgeworth wore off quickly lol. The second one was much more ambitious with some stellar character arcs and a memorable final villain, but of course it's still stuck in "only in Japan" limbo...
Yes! We played both Investigations, and Investigations 2 (fan patch) about 10 years ago. Currently, we're in the middle of watching a letsplay/fandub of the games because uh, yeah. We're not going to play through them again. They're the worst 'games'-- NOT the worst stories– in the AA series.
I definitely can't blame you for saying the novelty wore off quickly. Investigations has some serious flaws as a game and in structure. Which is an absolute shame, because the characters and stories are some of my favorites.
I absolutely adore Detective Badd, Agent Lang, Shih-Nah, and Kay Faraday from the first game, and Sebastian Debeste and Justine Courtney from the second game are some of my favorite characters in the whole series.
It's also absolutely fantastic to get to see more of Miles and Gumshoe together. I just love them as a mystery solving pair. They have such delightful energy. It probably helps that I'm a gumworth shipper from way back of course XD
But frankly, the fantastic characters, interesting worldbuilding and good stories absolutely can't save the Investigations series from its faults.
Problems with Ace Attorney Investigations
the need for the narrative to telegraph to the player how to solve problems, and forcing the player to painstakingly go through each of Miles' thought processes as a game mechanic has the opposite of the intended effect. Instead of making the player feel clever it makes Miles Edgeworth seem, very, very stupid and slow.
logic chess (from the second game) is agonizing. It's a great character bit for Egdeworth, having him conceive every logical problem as a chess problem, but its a fucking agonizing game mechanic.
circular reasoning. Every case is way too long, and it goes around in circles. I feel like this is a result of the "trial" phases being outside the court and thus having no real mediator. It's very true to life because people are going to "nu-uh" for as long as they can, but, realistic or not, t's agonizing to explain the same things to characters over and over and over.
connected to the above, all of the cases are too long, and also some of the logical leaps that the games expect you to make are some of the worst in the series. From Apollo Justice onward the games got a lot better about having a clear line of logic for where you're supposed to present evidence. Investigations and investigations 2 are just fucking guesswork.
So yeah while I definitely think these games are fantastic lore and character wise and worth experiencing, they are absolutely aggravating to play. My personal suggestion for anyone who wants to experience them is to pick a lets play/walkthrough video of their favorite variety (commentary, dub, no commentary) and enjoy them without having to worry about the terrible fucking gameplay.

I wonder how the Crusaders would react to a medium! reader who can channel spirits like Maya Fey from Ace Attorney?
When the Crusaders finally encounter Dio, Reader channels Jonathan and he speaks to Dio through Reader.
Dio: Jonathan Joestar!? I thought you were dead!
Jonathan possessing Reader's body: I am, and it has been a long while since we spoke, brother. I heard you have caused many problems for my family and you made Erina cry a whole lot. That is unforgivable. *cracks knuckles* We have a lot to catch up on.
This was the first time in years that Dio was genuinely terrified.
I have never played Ace Attorney, but your description helps.
Tumblr media
Oldseph
He thinks you're crazy
Thinks it's your Stand power
Is worried the heat has fried your brain
It's only after you all beat Steely Dan, when Joseph is upset and cursing under his breath
He then feels someone smack him on the back of his head
Joseph: Ow! What was that for?
Erina (possessing Reader): Joseph Joestar! Watch your mouth young man!
Joseph: G-Granny?!
Now he believes you
He finds it a bit strange
It's a bit heart breaking when Ceaser, Johnathan, Erina, Speedwagon, or Geroge possess you to visit him
It's kind therapeutic for him to talk with you/his family and friends
He tries to have you not over use your powers
Keeps you safe from people who want your power
Questions you on how this all works
Finds it cool your power will let you see Stands
Is shocked about the fear a Johnathan pocessed you puts in Dio
Tumblr media
Jotaro
Thinks you're deranged
Thinks you're creepy and might murder them all
Doesn't believe you when you say it's not a Stand power
Keeps you at arms length
Truly believes you're just a fucking nutcase
It's only until he starts cursing and being a bit mean that things happen
Jotaro: Shut up old man
Johnathan (possessing Reader): Jotaro, it's not polite to insult your grandfather
Jotaro: Have you lost your mind?
It takes him a bit to catch on
Once it does, he still thinks you're crazy
Now, he no longer keeps you at arms length
Tries to figure out if the ability is Stand related
Has to deal with his great great grand parents, great grand father, and pseudo great great uncle Speedwagon and pseudo grand uncle Ceaser processing you when he does something like smoke or swear
Hates this power of yours, on the outside
On the inside, he is kind glad he can take with those who came before him
Makes you promise to keep your powers under wraps, so Dio and his minions can't get you
Is happy your power let's you see Stands
Is so happy you being pocessed by his great great grandfather
Tumblr media
Kakyoin
Also thinks you're brain fired
Plays along when he thinks you're making it up
Tries getting you mental help
Is genuinely worried that the heat has caused you to go nuts
Keeps saying you have a Stand and that your powers are Stand related
Kind keeps you at arms length out of worry
Starts to think you were brain washed by someone, or you were raised by crazy people
Kakyoin: Kid, I'm pretty sure you have a Stand power
Child Ghost (possessing Reader): Don't be rude mister!
Kakyoin: *confused* Huh... maybe I'm wrong
After that he still keeps an eye on you
Is worried the ghosts have messed with your head
Keeps you safe so you power doesn't get in Dio's the wrong hands
Glad you and Avdol bound
Is happy you can see his and others Stands
Tumblr media
Polnareff
Oh boy...
He feels bad for you
Thinks you've lost your mind because something happened to you
Also plays along with you when you talk about the ghosts
Thinks its a bit cool you can see Stands without having one
Kind of believes you about your power
Is the only one, other than Avdol, that doesn't think you've lost you mind as a whole
Is a bit freaked out over the ghost thing
Tries to not make it seem like he thinks you're crazy
Watches as you and Avdol bond, and is so happy
He thinks its selfish to ask you to contact Sherry for him
Until after he defeats Centerfold
Polnareff: *being sad about Sherry*
Sherry (possessing Reader): Big Brother?
Polnareff: S-Sherry?!
Sherry (possessing Reader): I'm right here Big Brother
Polnareff: *Crying and talking to Sherry pocessed Reader*
After that he believes in your powers
Is so happy you and Avdol get along
Keeps you safe so no one abuses your powers
Cheers and smiles as a Johnathan pocessed you puts the fear of God into Dio
When he realizes you can see Stands, he is smiling
Is happy if you and Silver Chariot become friends
They both protect you
Tumblr media
Avdol
Only one who believes you
you two bond over being able to be in touch with the supernatural
He makes sure people don't think you're crazy
Tells you keep your power under wraps to not attract attention
He truly believes in your power
He tries to teach you tarot and stuff like that
He does think you have a Stand you just haven't awaked yet
He is curious on how tough see Stands without having one
He doesn’t force or ask you to contact spirits
Avdol: Hello
Pocessed Reader: umm... aren't you scared?
Avdol: No, would you like a tarot reading?
He is very calm about your powers
When he realizes you can see Magician Red... he waits to see your Stand
Happy if you and Magician Red get along
Keeps you close so you don't get taken advantage of
Is shocked when he sees you being pocessed, and it scaring Dio

I’m busy as usual lately, and if you’re new here, my interests tends to change up pretty quickly and strongly because of my neurodivergency lolol I see all your hazbin requests, and I will try to get to them <33 In the meantime, my girlfriend has dragged me into Ace Attorney (so blame her), and I cleaned up this ‘discord fic’ we wrote together, haha.
notes: dick gumshoe x female!reader (reader is very explicitly female here; please don’t go in hoping for ambiguity!), age gap (gumshoe is early 30s, reader is early 20, inexperienced reader. other than that, this is just very consensual sex. enjoy!
essentially, the entire crux of the idea is that gumshoe has a hookup app he uses sometimes, and you meet through there. you haven’t had that much sex, or just not sex with guys, but you’re bored and you’re horny and you decide- why the hell not? you assume nothing will really come out of it, anyway.
maybe there's just a far higher number of guys on the app you were on, and most of them just sent you a picture of their ugly penis or the most horrendous, sexual pickup line in existence… you'd practically given up on both the app and the male population in general, when you encounter gumshoe. who just tells you how pretty you are and asks how your day has been. he is outrageously attractive himself, and so you have to wonder whether or not he’s even real… despite the different start,i feel like he still wouldn't take too long to ask if you want to come over to his place sometime, but that's only normal and expected- it's the very purpose of the app such as the one you're using, after all! he warns you beforehand that his apartment doesn’t look like the best of places on the outside, and agrees to do anything you want beforehand to verify his identity! like sending pics of himself in certain poses, or (video)calling.
and you show up and all of your nerves just crash into you at once. you’re standing in the parking lot and you get so nervous you might as well throw up. you don’t really do stuff like this, but you were lured here by his genuine compliments and his good looks. you are almost tempted to text him that you’re going home, something came up, or to be rude enough to ghost him entirely- but there’s a little bit of guilt welling up inside you, knowing that you agreed with all of this, and he’s waiting for you and got his hopes up.
the reason you initially do go up to the door is this guilt. at your hesitant knock at the door, it immediately swings open, as if he had been waiting right beyond. you’d guessed from his pics he’d be big, but he’s really tall, and the spitting image of the pics he uploaded, rather than some of the horror stories you’ve heard.
"h-hi!!" you squeak. "i'm from the, uh, thing." you give him a little wave, and immediately feel stupid, quickly lowering your hand. your face is already on fire, and you don’t quite know what else to say.
gumshoe, on the other hand, only needs to take one look at you to be able to see how nervous you are. (while people often consider him dumb, he’s at least got emotional intelligence to make up for it. not to mention, he’s been around this block plenty of times before.)
"pal, c'mon, sit down. you look like you're about to pass out," he says, though not unkindly, and leads you inside before pulling back a chair from his dinner table. you're pretty happy to do as he says. "are you okay?"
"yeah, um-" you wring your hands together on your lap, face flushed, not meeting his eye. "i'm sorry. i don't really do stuff like this…. ever. i-is that weird? i just, uh, well…" you laugh sheepishly and awkwardly. "you were- you are very handsome, what can i say?"
he laughs, louder than you think you deserve, but it's boisterous. not laughing at you. "you sure do know how to make a man feel special, huh? but… hey. look at me." he's sitting opposite you now, a kindly smile on your face. "we don't hav'ta do anything you don't want to. we don't have to do anything at all! i want you to have a good time. both of us should have a good time. 'course, i'm always happy to have such a pretty lady in my home.. but i'm not gonna make you do something you don't wanna."
after his little motivational speech, you've calmed enough that your breathing has slowed down to regular levels.
"thank you, i really do appreciate it… um. i wanna try, at least. i bought new lingerie 'n everything," you mumble, eyes averted.
"just for little old me? you shouldn't have." dick's smile is goofy and genuine and luring you closer, allowing him to reach out for your waist.
"would you mind if i take a look? i'd love to see your pretty new panties." you don’t trust your tongue to make any comprehensible noise right now, so you just rapidly nod. "that's my girl."
maybe he keeps sitting down at the table, and pats his knee, inviting you to sit down on his lap. not right over his crotch, he doesn’t want to push you that quick and that hard. maybe you're wearing a cute little dress so he just pulls the hem up, and without even thinking about it, you reach out and taking him from it, holding it up for him,, you're very very red in the face and looking anywhere except at him, but you can hear the smile in his voice when he says ‘thanks’.
he just places one of his big, warm hands on your thigh, rubbing circles on the skin on the inside, and with the other hand he just traces a single finger up the length of your thigh, closer and closer to your panties to see if you don't get spooked. even when he touches your underwear, he doesn't go for your clit or anything like that, just running the tip of his finger over the side of it. maybe it's pink n lacy and slightly see through.
"that's so adorable," he tells you, maybe even tugging a little at the pink little bow on top. "s'like you read my mind and you knew exactly what i wanted to see! special girl."
"i- i'm sure i'm not… mmm--" gumshoe just hums in response, question unspoken. "i'm sure you've had prettier girls over." and you immediately want to hit yourself over the head for saying something like that, but it was what you were thinking.
"hah!" he practically guffaws, entirely unfazed. "you'd be surprised, pal. all i ever seem to hook are skinny little guys. which is all fine and good, love ‘em, but there are plenty who are just- if they can't be bothered to just say 'hi' before starting to talk about my dick, i just block 'em."
you can't help but laugh a little, and look at his face for the first time, meeting with relaxed eyes and a kind smile. (if you're going to catch feelings for this man, you swear to god--) "i guess we're pretty similar, then. i only got, uh, dick pics and bad one liners… you were the first one to just ask how i was feeling." for a moment, you can forget you're sitting in a stranger's lap with your dress pulled up, and his fingers centimeters away from your clit. maybe this guy just has that effect on people.
"people can be weird," he sighs and shakes his head a little. "that, or they just ask for the strangest things. i had this one guy over once, and he just straight up asked for fisting, which, y’know, never mentioned that anywhere before! how do ya even think you want my damn fist inside you, when you can't even handle my cock?"
"o-oh yeah?" you stammer out, the unspoken question on your lips (are you THAT big???!!??) obvious to both people in the room, and you don't even think about it as your eyes shift a looot lower than his face.
there's a tangible shift in the air, and gumshoe chuckles. when he speaks again, his voice is about an octave lower. "eyes up here, sweetheart." you jolt, practically spit out an apology, and he laughs again, louder this time. "no, no, i'm sorry, was just messing with ya. but you got curious, didn't ya? c'mere."
he takes your wrist, grip loose enough that you could pull away at any moment, but you don't. he places your hand right on top of his crotch, and places his own hand over yours. he is… big, and your face is burning. "i can see that you're wet yourself, sweetheart, so i think ya should know i've been hard ever since you walked through that door."

ok i feel like making more in depth posts about those games i just listed but since they're so many i'll separate them by genre
Also admittedly I sorta just tossed these games into genres very haphazardly so i dunno if i particularly categorized them right. anyways, here are the ~~~mystery games~~~
Tumblr media
This is basically ace attorney but with birds, which makes it an instant favorite. Also, for some reason, the french revolution is involved. i really don't remember why. I remember also a twist ending that's fun, plays on the expectations an ace attorney player would have and stabs them with a knife.
Tumblr media
another bird-themed mystery game thing, point and click. It's got a nice aesthetic, and the voice acting is honestly quite good. i like going around and detectiving and also being a bird. it's fun.
Tumblr media
there are a LOT of furry detective games for some reason. i think this one is based on a french comic? actually maybe i shouldn't have picked this as an "obscure game," i think this is, actually, a pretty big deal in france maybe?? the lady cats look real weird. i don't remember literally anything about this except that. somehow. the game ends somewhere underground.
Tumblr media
LITERALLY don't remember anything about this. but the protagonist is a lady detective.
Tumblr media
another furry mystery. this one is neat because you're just in your wheelchair, looking out from your room and finding out shit by watching. There's another game, Conway: Disappearance at Dahlia View (or whatever), where the protagonist is also in a wheelchair and looking outside his window, but Conway's protagonist drives me crazy for just being So Nosy and just, getting into places he Really Shouldn't. Anyways, the flower collectors felt nicer.
Tumblr media
i just kinda realized that, like. this probably shouldn't be under the "mystery" genre. Like, yeah, I guess you're trying to figure shit out, but it's not exactly. like. mystery mystery. yknow? But it's a time loop! It's a time loop game. You're trying to figure out the stuff that's going on in this time loop. I think it's neat. Time loops are neat. It's fun.
Tumblr media
this one also isn't really a mystery, honestly. Even though it calls itself "a mystery game" in the title. but I made my bed and now I have to sleep in it. Anyways, this one I don't particularly know how I feel about it. It's a very odd game. fun visuals sometimes. The scenery was nice. There are some good vibes. It's very odd. Anyways.
Tumblr media
i literally don't remember shit about this game. there's a boat. you walk around in a house. I love walking around in houses. i love picking stuff up and looking at it.
Tumblr media
I find this game to be a very interesting one...! I have no idea how to describe it. Also, there's some sort of....secret? Or something? on the title screen. I think there's a secret. But I don't know what it is or how to unlock it, and nobody else seems to know either, at least last I checked. you have to use law as evidence. but also, you play a cop so. y'know. acab. There's multiple endings depending on like, if you are a "good enough cop" or not. And also, you can use evidence in different ways when indicting someone, there are different level of crimes you can arrest someone for as well. Anyways, it's neat.
Tumblr media
i remember liking this one because it involves timelines and you figuring out what's wrong with what people are saying based on what they say happened. Also, the culprits are daemons and you have to also correctly identify which daemon the culprits are possessed by.
Tumblr media
honestly........this probably doesn't count as obscure (i see over 3k reviews) but i mean, like. it has the vibes of obscure. the environments and the music and everything is very, uhh, what's that genre called again? something-core? VAPORWAVE. that. also, there's a map and you walk around it and you collect things and i am always obsessed with that. honestly reminds me a lot of umineko, in terms of like. one of the phrases that keeps repeating is "the truth is not the same as the facts" (I think?). like, the ending is where you accuse people, and you essentially decide the "truth." and, yes, like, in some ways, the question of "who killed X" can be played with! Who is actually culpable? How far do you go? Idk. it's neat. also, your name is Lady Love Dies!!!! it's cool!!!! what a fucking name.
Tumblr media
i don't actually know how i feel about this one either. there's stealth involved, though. and a lot of exploration elements, which I think is neat, actually, but i am such a soft nervous baby so I probably missed a lot of shit tbh. And there's a timed element too, so extra nervous baby mode.
Tumblr media
uhhhhh. this one also probably hsouldn't have been counted as an obscure game, oops. I think there was a certain point where I just, really went wild for space games. I don't remember what this one is at all. I think there was some eldrich elements at the end, so maybe it shouldn't be considered a mystery, oops. Actually, this should probably be under horror. oops. oops!!
Tumblr media
visual novel. I'm surprised it didn't have more reviews, because like.....i think this started as an actual? like? console visual novel game?? and got ported to steam later. anyways, i think this one is funny for one particular ending. maybe this also shouldn't count as a mystery, because you can, uh, determine what the "answer" is by choosing certain ways to write letters. but look, it's mysterious! you're trying to solve, like, a disappearance!! it's fine.
Tumblr media
this one involves cults. once again, you get to walk around a place and look at things and pick them up. i like that in a game. does this count as horror? I think it does make things creepy and tries to scare you at points, i guess. ummmm i guess also this probably shouldn't count as mystery either. anyways, this is about cults so i mean, definitely a lot of dark shit going on here. you read a lot about death and sex and bad cult shit.
Tumblr media
this one is an fmv game (game with real-ass people) and this one i think is kinda fun because you will shapeshift as people, meaning you can go to each person as some different person and see how they treat you and stuff. which is fun. though i think that doesn't end up mattering as much. i don't remember a lot of this actually. i liked the radio people.
Tumblr media
corporate capitalism apocalypse type thing. sometimes i get so so sad about having to make decisions on shit. you make decisions on people living or dying. also, your boss grades your performance. there's one case about a cop android in particular that makes me so so so sad. anyways.
Tumblr media
this one is by the guys who make the sherlock holmes game. this also maybe doesn't quite count as mystery?? because you also have to shoot stuff and things. but i mean, you also solve crimes and also sidequest crimes, so like. whatever. also, there is lovecraftian horror things involved. it is very much a sherlock holmes game except lovecraft.
Tumblr media
i don't remember this game. but i do remember it being neat.

20 Questions for fic writers
I was tagged by @almarnatiaam- thanks!
1. How many works do you have on A03?
36
2. What's your total A03 word count?
133,211
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly Ace Attorney these days.
I've also written for Les Mis and Good Omens; Les Mis makes up most of my works at 20 (though 4 of those aren't really fics, they're fanart pieces I posted to ao3 for sewerexchange).
And there's a couple random fics that aren't any of these: The Temptation Of Immediate Relief is a Pride & Prejudice missing scene fic that I wrote for high school english class and posted a polished version after graduation, and All Alone is a short War & Peace fic expanding the character of Anatole's wife who's entirely just a plot device with no character in canon (elephant in the room: the name I chose for her was retroactively made weird by my later fandom journeys by being cognate to the name of a completely different character, but like, whatever). I still think both of these are pretty good
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Wilson & Sons (Good Omens outsider POV fic about Aziraphale's barber, a family business that he's been going to since the 1700s), at 1861 kudos
You're Better Off Without Him (Good Omens outsider POV about the guy in episode 4 who says that line), at 763 kudos
perfectly statue-still (Ace Attorney 3+1 fic about elevators being a trigger for Miles, angst with a happy ending), at 433 kudos
driving back in style (in my saloon will do quite nicely) (Good Omens fic, silly cute little A/C getting together scenario), at 303 kudos
naughty list (Ace Attorney fic; angst with a happy ending; the premise is that Gregory didn't get to tell Miles that Santa wasn't real so when the von karma household didn't do santa Miles thought he was on the naughty list for a solid 4 years. If you haven't read it, ho ho ho 'tis the season to read it now), at 241 kudos
Yeah, my good omens stuff is never being unseated from the top of my leaderboard unless I end up getting into an even bigger fandom at some point in the future
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to, because comments absolutely give me life and I need a constant stream of them, but unfortunately I don't get around to it often enough
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Absolute angstiest out of my published works is probably my very first ao3 fic, not quite nowhere to turn. Valjean sees Javert die and is too late to do anything. The fic is very flawed in that I was 15 and had not learned how to do subtlety, I can't look at it now, but I was a hyperlexic kid with A's in English so I think it's still better than what most people were writing as teens
Second answer is merry christmas., my most recent fic (if you haven't read it yet, HO HO HO TIS THE SEASON), it's Miles' POV for the first bit of Turnabout Goodbyes, it ends on a note of hopelessness that he's doomed to be convicted, but it only debatably counts since anyone who's played the games knows that the turnabout is coming
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of my stuff has pretty happy endings, that's just my sensiility as a writer-- even "not quite nowhere to turn" has an afterlife reunion scene-- so I'm not sure what to say here.
There's some fics where the conflict was trivial in the first place (comedy and crack stuff), there's some fics where I feel in hindsight that the ending was a copout and that a rockier path to happiness would have been more interesting if I had mustered the strength to write it (When Tomorrow Comes is the primary example tbh), and there's some where it feels earned (the fics in this category include the ones I like the most)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I've thankfully never gotten hate on AO3 that I can recall
9. Do you write smut?
Yes I do, but none of it is up on my ao3 account at this time. I have a ton in my google docs though...
10. Do you write crossovers?
I've written a couple. Both of them, funnily enough, of the format "javert meets one of my other blorbos and they recognise what they have in common"
In "and if you fall" (honestly the point of the title would have landed better if I did the full lyric "and if you fall (as lucifer fell)" but at the time that felt too corny), Crowley happens to be in the right place at the right time to talk Javert down from jumping (context: within GO book canon Crowley was asleep for the 19th century except for getting up in 1832 for a loo break)
In "The Choice Of Death" Miles Edgeworth meets Javert's ghost (AA ghost lore notwithstanding) one liminal night during his year away
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
On a tangent though, bc there's no question directly relevant to share this info, I HAVE gotten fanart for a fic before: this amazing fanart by @maym0rin for chapter 2 of "perfectly statue-still" (she gave me permission to crosspost it on tumblr bc she didn't have tumblr at the time but she later got tumblr when the twitter ship started sinking). There is nothing more flattering as an author than getting fanart, I hope this first time isn't the last time
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not yet!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, I helped with @almarnatiaam's fic A King's Heart and got a co-writer credit.
And outside of cowriting on the level of be listed as cowriter on ao3, my friend who doesn't have tumblr (it's tsl for all the mtnr server friends reading this) and I have been collaborating and bouncing ideas on each other's fics for... wow, it's been over a year now!
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Honestly it would have to be Valvert because it got to me at a formative time and has shaped the kinds of ships I like for life
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
What do you mean "the" wip????
I have two dead fics and counting (one for les mis, one for good omens), and that's just the ones where I posted the initial content before realising it's too intimidating to finish. There's so many more in my docs; my friends know about some of them
16. What are your writing strengths?
Here are some that I have no problem bragging about, I reread my own fics often and smile at the moments where I did a banger line
Character voice (especially when the characters are my blorbos)
Using fancy vocabulary with precision in the prose to achieve effect (a skill born from trying to copy the vibes of victor hugo)
Witty prose humour (a skill born from trying to copy the vibes of pratchett & gaiman)
Prose from the POV of someone in a fucked up state- someone in a dark place emotionally, or someone whose motivations are fundamentally misguided or outright malicious. This is THE most fun shit to write for me
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Committing to long term character pain and tragic character conflict when it's not pulled/extrapolated directly from canon. I have many times read a fic where the author puts blorbo through the ringer and thought "damn if only I wasn't such a fucking coward and could write stuff like this". I've become less of a coward over the years and now enjoy
Writing anything long without a detailed plan for the entire thing
The need to use words with precision and write perfectly in character is as much a weakness as a strength. I am not a "write a whole first draft then edit" person I am a "dot points for the bits I don't have perfect words for" person and this sometimes causes issues where I assume I'll figure out how to get from A to B later but then it turns out to not make sense to get from A to B
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I have 4 years of Duolingo French and have used this occasionally for my Les Mis works. The way I think of my Les Mis works is that the characters are all speaking French behind the fourth wall but the fourth wall translates for us, so I avoid puns that only work in English except on a couple super cracky occasions.
For Inspector Javert Chooses Death (a fic with the premise "AU where instead of dying Javert fakes his death like Edgeworth and goes to england and unrepresses his homosexuality") I was originally planning to write the whole letter near the end of the fic in french and put the translation in footnote but my beta reader got confused so I scrapped that and had the prose paraphrase most of the letter and only included one French sentence
19. First fandom you wrote for?
First fandom I published fic on ao3 for was Les Mis. First fandom I published fic anywhere online for was Animorphs (when I was 12 I published a weird dark comedy fic to FFN which was a 5+1 or similar format of Visser Three executing people for slighting him by morphing into huge creatures and eating them. Then people on animorphsforum.com told me the fic was bad so I lost all confidence and didn't write fic again for years)
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Right now it's between my two most recent AA solo fics: merry christmas. (already explained; 1-4 fic) and the perfect weapon (Manfred POV throughout his revenge plot, SUPER fun to write all that villain pov, grew from the premise "he had to have known about the nightmare to plan all that")
My best Les Mis fic is but i have seen the same (i know the shame in your defeat); it explores my favourite parallel with a cool alternating scene format and I actually still like the writing and characterisation even all these years later which is a rare honour for one of my high school Les Mis fics

I keep seeing a bunch of revisionism regarding Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (and it's followups), so let's do a quick review/recap of it and see why the rest of the Apollo Justice Trilogy was spent trying to get rid of Apollo Justice.
This is written by Shu Takumi, who wrote the original trilogy. It was also written with the hand of Capcom on his shoulder, kind of ruining everything.
Originally the game was going to focus on Apollo alone, with no involvement of Phoenix at all. They also wanted specific plot points to be implemented like the jury system in the final trial. They also gave him absolutely no time to actually write anything.
However, this doesn't excuse the game we got from being bad. It just means it didn't have the chance to be good, no matter how hard the creators tried. It's not a reflection of their abilities, it's a reflection of Capcom being terrible.
Plot-wise, Apollo Justice begins with the victorious ending of the original trilogy pretty much instantly being undone and Phoenix being disbarred because everyone in the courtroom is an idiot (a recurring theme with this game, especially in the third case). Phoenix takes evidence from a strange little girl, his defendant runs away in the middle of a trial leaving his daughter behind, nobody looks into the circumstances of the forged evidence presented, and so on.
It feels like an incredibly contrived situation to hoist a new character into the spotlight.
Apollo Justice is a guy. He's supposed to be a more straight-laced version of Phoenix, but that and the rushed writing of the story lead to him just kind of going along with the story while leaving no mark on it of his own. I the original trilogy, Nick and Maya would barge in to confront culprits outside of court, investigate old cases they think are relevant, and just generally being proactive. Apollo and Trucy are just kind of there, but at least Trucy has her magician stuff going on and a fun dynamic with her adoptive father.
Our prosecutor this time around is Klavier Gavin, a rock star. Other games in the series have prosecutors who whip you, attack you with birds, condemn you to hell, drink wine in court... and yet Klavier is somehow the most baffling one of all because his whole gimmick is... he has another demanding job. It has nothing to do with his character journey (it actually causes a plot hole because he shouldn't be prosecuting a case he has a personal stake in, being a possible witness to a murder case that happens at one of his concerts) and just feels like they needed to spice up his character in some way.
So what exactly is his character journey?
Nothing.
Klavier is an antagonist in the strictest terms, as he isn't a bad guy. He's simply opposing you. Even when you're the one who got his brother sentenced to jail. Even when his own brother is on the stand for murder, he keeps a cool, boring head. He has an unwavering sense of justice in his heart.
In other words, he's just there to give you evidence and question prompts. He has no character arc despite how close he is to the plot. He's even the one to go up against Phoenix on the case he got disbarred because plot contrivences.
Speaking of plot contrivances, Apollo and Trucy are half-siblings now. It doesn't affect the story in any way shape or form (other than giving Apollo his awful gameplay gimmick) and is just a last second plot twist for the sake of a last second plot twist.
If I were to be generous, I'd guess future games Takumi planned to write had a larger theme of family and this would impact that. Even in AJ, the theme of family is all throughout it. You have the 'mystery' of Phoenix suddenly having a daughter, you have the second case being about a Yakuza family, you have the Gavins. If the team had the proper time, this could have been important even just thematically.
But as it is, it affects nothing. As it is the game is bad. No amount of what ifs can change that.
And, this is where I really toe the line of being controversial, but I don't think it would have been good even with those what ifs. Why?
Because the Great Ace Attorney duology reran a lot of these problems over the course of two games.
A jury system with no effect on anything. A pointless family relationship reveal. A defense attorney who is pulled along at the whims of his mentor figure. A mountain load of plot contrivences.
So it's no wonder when a new writer came on board afterward, they pivoted so hard away from it.
However, with Dual Destinies, they do follow up on the biggest theme of AJ: the corruption of the justice system. The game is about bringing an end to the Dark Age of the Law. Undoing Phoenix's disbarment, weeding out corruption, focusing on a new generation of attorneys and judges. Even if you think the cases are weak, the thematics are strong. There's a reason why the final trial takes place in a ruined courtroom aside from it being a cool setpiece.
It also introduces Athena Cykes, who is her own character. She has her own motivations, her own way of doing things. She's bold, she can lose her temper. She's a fun character that contrasts Phoenix and was brought into the agency through Phoenix's character motivations.
Apollo, meanwhile, they didn't have anything to work with. A big theme with Apollo as a character is the wild contrivences they have to make to keep him relevant and I think that with the characterization and backstory given to the team by Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, this was all they could do aside from making him Athena's straightman.
This is why they spent Spirit of Justice getting rid of him. If he's got nothing going for him, they might as well write an entirely new backstory just to resolve that hanging plot thread because his backstory has to be something.
I don't want to dislike Apollo, but he wasn't introduced well and that introduction gave him no ground to stand on in future games. He's too straight-laced to work in a cast and world that's always been as vibrant as Ace Attorney's. And most importantly EVERYBODY hated this game when it came out.
That's why Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice, despite their new tone, saved the series after Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. The only reason people are so willing to fight for AJ is because these two did their best to fix what AJ broke.

Blackmadhi happened like this:
Simon thought Nahyuta was boring until a certain point in Turnabout Storyteller where Simon just says "I must say though, he knows how to make a trial interesting."
And then, when Nahyuta started working at the prosecutors' building, he turned out to still have that same rebel attitude and behavior/behaviour. Since Ga'ran, her royal guards and people who genuinely think he is holy and will not commit any foul deeds are not there, he can do whatever he wants. Because in Khura'in, he is a monk and he is expected to have a very soft personality, to not commit any sins, etc. but here, wherever the fuck Ace Attorney takes places at, he is nothing but an international prosecutor, he is no monk.
So when he's anywhere other than Khura'in, he would go do whatever the hell he wants, but he is very respectable in court.
So then Simon, who is always hearing about him on the TV, just thinks that he's a boring holy man.
When he met him in Turnabout Storyteller, he figured that Nahyuta isn't too boring, and when he started seeing him in the prosecutors' building, he was WILD, same rebel behaviour/behavior and attitude, would do the craziest shit anyone, duels, is fun, and REALLY different from what he is in Khura'in and in court.
And then Simon starts seeing him outside of the prosecutors' building, he realizes/realises that this dude isn't holy at all and he literally seduces people to get what he wants for free, he had even done it with cops to let him investigate a crime scene if they won't allow him in.
And when Simon and Nahyuta are assigned to a case together, Nahyuta, actually likes Simon and Simon likes him too but he doesn't know it himself yet and Nahyuta decides to make the first move, here's how it went:
"Prosecutor Blackquill, do you have the autopsy report?"
Simon: "Yes, I do."
Nahyuta: "Would you be so kind as to give it to me?"
Simon: "No."
Nahyuta then gets a little to close to Simon and puts his right hand on Simon's right hand.
Simon stands still and says: "I am not gonna give it to you."
Nahyuta, with a softer more luscious look:
"Please?" then he takes his left hand and puts it on Simon's face
Simon, now burning with a bright red face: "I-I will not give you the autopsy report of this case. The autopsy report might be redone because the coroners think that the body was put in a colder area to manipulate the time of death."
Nahyuta: "So they use the body temperature to determine the time of death?"
Simon: "Mhm."
Nahyuta: "You are very much alive. You're face became 37.8 degrees Celsius once I put my hand on your face."
Simon: "I-"
Nahyuta then snatches the autopsy report with his right hand, and with both of his hands, he pulls Simon in for a kiss, kisses him for like 3 full seconds and says:
"I could've done much more than just this. But sadly, we are in public. We can do it later in a private place if you'd like."
Nahyuta then leaves and Simon is like: "HOW THE FUCK DID HE MANIPULATE ME WHEN I WAS READY FOR IT- IT IS OFFICIAL- I HAVE A CRUSH ON THAT FAKE-HOLY MAN- HOW THE FUCK DID THAT MAN EVEN BECOME A RESPECTABLE MONK- HE- WHAAAAT-"

For Mod Betty! Could I get a scenario where Barok falls for a childhood friend who grew up on the van Zieks estate as the grandchild of staff at the estate? As kids they'd have to hang out in secret as s/o was a bit of a troublemaker and Barok's parents didn't approve of him behaving in a way unbecoming of a young gentleman. As adults, s/o keeps a job at the estate, Barok is still pinning but fears disapproval due to their class difference.
Hello anon and I love this idea so much! I hope I did this request justice hehe( apologies for taking so long didn't have motivation to write for a bit)
But with that out of the way, enjoy reading!

Barok was a quiet kid, never really talking or interacting with people, staff included hope he couldn't help but notice a young child constantly following and pestering one of the staff members, specifically an old woman.Barok concluded that you must be the woman's grandchild considering how she treated you like her own kid.One time Barok was walking past through the hallway of his mansion but halted when he heard the old servant scolding you " ____ how many times do I have to tell you to not get into fights with kids of high class families with ,you could get us in big trouble and possibly ruin the van Zieks name" She said as you pouted "But what was I supposed to do?He was bullying a kid just because he wasn't like them, honestly rich kids need to be ruffled up if they're all like this-" you responded which caused the woman to gasp and cover your mouth "Don't think about saying that in front of the lord's child!Do you have any idea what you're saying?!" She scolded you. Barok was left in awe at your actions; he had to admit he admired your sense of justice. You tried to minimize the trouble you'd normally do because the pain in your grandmother's eyes physically hurt you and the scolding she received from the van Zieks left a bitter taste in your mouth.Barok always wanted to talk to you,to get to know you but could never find a perfect moment especially when his parents didn't allow him near you because your behaviour might influence him negatively, his brother didn't seem to be bothered by you contacting he's a goofball himself and often encouraged Barok to meet you in secret while he covers for him.
The plan was simple, Klint started a conversation with his parents while Barok ran off to find you which wasn't too hard to do because he always saw you outside of the mansion when you didn't have to perform your duties.Walking up to you he took note of how you tense up " What do you want " you mumbled looking away from him, you weren't exactly fond of him sure he wasn't like those bratty rich kids you see on the streets but you can never be too sure" I simply wanted to have a conversion of that's alright with you" he said sitting next to you " Aren't your parents going to flip seeing you talking to me ?" You asked , eventually looking at him " Worry not that's being taken care of" he reassured "What's your name? I never usually talk to servants so I never know who they are or how they're like" he said
.You stood silent for a moment before answering" I'm _____" " I'm Barok van Zieks it's a pleasure to talk with you" he said smiling "Am I supposed to call you 'young lord' like how granny does?" You ask narrowing your eyes " No just Barok is fine when we're alone like this, but you will have to call me that when other staff members or my family are around I suppose " Barok said "I'm surprised you stood up to those kids considering they are from well known families, I always to admit I admire your bravery " ge said looking at you with a smile " Wait how'd you know? Did they snitch or something?" You asked "No I did sort of eavesdrop on your conversation with your grandmother I do apologise " he admired sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly "I do have to admit you are different from those kids, you aren't a brat that thinks he rules the world like they do" you said ,Barok giggling at your way of describing them "But I'm glad you are,at least you're bearable to listen to" you laughed as you 2 started chatting for a bit.Barok looked at the window seeing Klint waving, a signal for him to stop the conversation so he won't be caught. Getting up he dusted himself off. " Well, I should get going for now, I'll try to come back whenever possible " he said before entering the mansion.Meeting up with Klint he gave him a smirk " So how did your conversation with your crush go?" He teased causing the younger brother to blush "T-they aren't! Quit saying such foolish things !" He said " Yeah yeah sure" he rolled his eyes at his brother's statements going back to his room. And that's how most of your meetings went,Klint acting as a decoy while Barok visited you and talked with you,and that's how you became friends.
Fast forward to present time, you still had a job at the estate, you wouldn't forgive yourself if you left Barok at his weakest,  what friend would you be?Some of the staff members left to the fear of his 'curse' latching onto them while others remained in fear to not feel the reader's wrath.Barok was the shell of the man he once was, who wouldn't be if someone they trusted murdered their beloved sibling.Barok wasn't as talkative as he was an a young child and honestly you missed that side of him, you hated seeing him so upset all the time with a stone face expression painted on his face. You tried your best to at least bring him some sort of light at the end of the dark tunnel but to no avail or so you thought. Barok was actually grateful you stood by him , he wouldn't know what he would have done if you also had  left him behind.A warmth is his chest that he has felt since his university years, he tried to deny it at the time but he knew what that feeling was.   Love.He placed a hand on his chest, where his heart is located,it's beating quickly than it usually is and that's when his mind starts to wonder….'How am I going to deal with this feeling inside me, I can't be feeling such foolish emotions, they are just mere servants. How would people look upon the van Zieks family if they found out?...."
His eyes widened when he heard the words coming out of the council's mouth,Klint was the professor all along ? No this is pure conjecture there's no way! He was in utter disbelief everything he believed in was a lie, he didn't know what to think anymore, he needed time to calm himself. So after the trial was over and had a chit chat with the defence he went straight home and locked himself in his room. You were worried about his well-being obviously but you knew if you tried calming him down now it'll only make it worse so you let him think and wait until he decides to open up to you. Eventually he let's his heart heal and starts to move on from this event however there is still something that makes his heart ache and that is his feeling…for you.He knows he can never tell you these feelings, a member of a royal family dating a servant that's unheard of! Being the only alive van Zieks member he has the burden of his shoulders to represent the family and to spread their legacy and professing his love for you might throw all of his hard work away.
Maybe in a different life he could be together with you,as his partner but for the time being he'll treasure the friendship you two have.

ooc; Tibarn's wanted plots
Here are a few mission prompts I'm interested in taking with Tibarn.
Gauntlet +1 - my twist on the prompt is that, upon getting the slightest suspicion, Tibarn will shift. Your muse is welcome to think they are being assaulted by a monster in the steam. For his part, there is going to come a moment where he will simply be amused and won't try too hard to correct you until you realize yourself.
Authority +1 - I freely admit I know nothing about Ace Attorney, which I know was the inspiration for the prompt, but I'd be interested in taking it up with the idea of Tibarn playing something of an advisory role, perhaps. He's a king and all, and one who has dealt with plenty of injustice towards his people. He can get into interesting debates on what is or isn't just and right. He'll play along with the court play if your muse so desires.
Flying +1 - who's ready for some flying lessons? Tibarn is taking the baby wyverns to the skies and your muse is welcome to join, flying either on his back or on one of the hatchlings. We can chat about both flying mounts and flying just in general in the meantime! (taken: Caeda)
If you'd like to thread with him outside of the mission board, he's also open for interactions, simply let me know! Tellius muses especially. Come closer (grabs you)
DM me on Discord or ping me in #plotting if you're interested!

SheetBeat is my main, AO3 is 24HoursRemain (◕‿◕✿)
this is a chonky post! sections are a heads-up, my stuff, characters and links.
━━━━━━♡♤♡━━━━━━
I'm 19, based in the UK (BST/GMT) and love a ton of things. Honestly, this post is here mainly to keep my brain sorted, with satisfying anyone's curiosity as a plus.
I'm very into DQXI, Banana Fish and especially Hunter x Hunter. That's not an exhaustive list. The following won't be either, but it's a start!
In the following fandoms I'm less active, but I don't love them any less. If you want to talk to me about these things, that would be just as swell!
- ffvii (mainly the original)
- jjba
- cardcaptor sakura (haven't seen clear card)
- ace attorney (haven't played dgs/gaa yet)
- fallen london
-monster and mawaru penguindrum (these I don't read fic for but I do read a bunch of analysis posts!)
- and reading outside of games / manga (sometimes)! Peake, Poe, Le Guin...

☆.。.:* a heads-up .。.:*☆
Should've used one of the many appropriate specific hxh image references for this, like the Troupe's coin-tossing habit and what happened at the Arena around the Succession Contest time. Darn. Anyway...
- My main is SFW, but many of the series I'm into includes more heavy stuff. And my AO3 (sometimes NSFW) bookmarks reflect that, I think!
- Will make it a habit to tag properly. Please let me know if I slip up! Just be aware that I'm a fan of Banana Fish, which is an animanga series that takes a stab at very sensitive and potentially triggering topics. Take care - I'll be as clear as I can with tags so you can make informed judgement calls.
- The same goes for tagging major spoilers. I'll tread even more carefully with ongoing series and manga spoilers.
- By the way, any HxH fan who hates Gon, thinks he's bland /a psychopath / a monster? I respect your opinion, but we're never going to see eye-to-eye on that one 😅

☆.。.:* my stuff .。.:*☆
I have work to do, but fandom is more fun.
- Betaing. I only do one fic at any one time.
At the moment, I'm very busy and very happy working on a HxH!BB entry :D
- HxH nerdcore recs including geek music from Brazil. Gets my minimal language muscles going and transcription is real rewarding. Plus, I get to share some cool songs!
I still need to start my nerdcore recs ^^"
- Greed Island writing prompt fills, provided by the server. It's a great community giving out HxH writing prompts based on the G.I cards among a ton of other challenges.

☆.。.:* characters .。.:*☆
I'm a fan of quite a few characters. Naming all of them would take a while. Here are the ones I read about / analyse / think about the most.
Roughly in order, but love isn't a science. I do like a bit of cheesiness.
HxH Gon, Killua, Leorio, Hisoka, Melody/Senritsu, Bisky, Kurapika, Machi, Netero, Knuckle.
DQXI Sylvando/Sylvia : the wholesome jester who is actually a jester.
FF7 Barret and Aerith.
Jojo Josuke, Jolyne, Johnny and Gappy.
Banana Fish Am basic. Ash, Eiji, Shorter, Max.
CCS Tomoyo, Sakura, Syaoran, Toya
Ace Attorney Phoenix, Edgeworth, Maya, Apollo, Larry, Gumshoe, Athena
Monster Lunge, Eva, Tenma, Johan, Grimmer

☆.。.:* check out my links .。.:*☆
...If you want! There's a couple of blogs I've not properly fleshed out. Shorter To Sing and Sheet Dump are pretty empty sideblogs. These are my links:
24HoursRemain is my AO3.
SheetBeat (hello! you're here!) is my main. It's for general fandom shenanigans - mostly HxH.
pop me a message - i love a natter!
Due to timezone tomfoolery and life getting in the way, I don't know when I'll be active. But I love rambling about fandom and hearing others do the same. Feel free to send a DM my way. We can talk about about some amazing series!
