Character B says "I knew you were outta shape, but I'd think adrenaline would have helped you get a bit further than that-" before character A cuts them off with a pained groan, they're already bent over breathing heavily with their hands on their knees, they look up at the other character with a half laugh and said "well, running never hurt THIS much befor-" getting cut off as they groan again.

Christmas Eve

We are so far behind on decorating we've only got enough time to put the tree up. You've been working more now since I went on paternity leave and I can't tell you just how much I appreciate you. My body is cumbersome now, a gravid orb jutting from my middle to show just how good you bred me nine months ago. I can't do nearly as much as I did so I am constantly frustrated that all the burden has been put on your shoulders.

"You just keep this little one cooking alright? Let me take care of you." you reassure me several times a day. You kiss my cheeks and repeat yourself when I find myself shouting at something on the ground because I couldn't reach it. You scoop it up, patting my belly with a loving smile before going back to work on getting the tree up. I love you so very much.

The last ornament is placed on the tree ( all thanks to you, I got too tired to stand for long ) and we just need to plug the lights in. You get everything set up before helping me from the couch, bringing me over to the outlet so we can plug it in together. Beautiful colors light up the little corner and you woop in excitement. The baby jostled at the noise, making me wince at the tight discomfort of their little body attacking my insides. I lean into you while dragging your hand to my distorted middle for help calming down your child. As instantly as the fetus began they stopped, loving the touch from their other parent as much as I did. We stand there in awe at our lives of soon-to-be parents in the warm lights of the tree.

"Let's go get you and the baby fed before Santa comes to visit." you whisper in my ear. Kneeling down to kiss my belly you whisper something to the baby—whatever it was you said it made them go wild again and my belly tensed in retaliation of our unborn's movements. You chuckle, kissing the baby and me again then walk off to the kitchen. I rub around my heavy bump silently begging them to stay in until after the holiday. My body had begun aching early this morning then well into the afternoon I had to put a heating pad on my lower back to soothe the intense aches. I didn't tell you how low my belly set on me or that I had been feeling little false labor ains throughout the day. I didn't want to worry you like the last false alarm this past week. When it really was labor, I would tell you.

Just until Monday baby, don't come out just yet please.

i think the reason that a lot of people don’t recognize how fucked up sokka is is due to the fact that sokka himself refuses to acknowledge it. he is extremely repressed and operating on so many layers of cognitive dissonance that he doesn’t even realize that he is not in fact “normal” or “mentally stable” or “healthy.” part of sokka being extremely fucked up is also refusing to acknowledge or confront that he is remotely fucked up. so he generally presents like a well-functioning person who, despite being incredibly cerebral, doesn’t have a particularly rich inner life. but that’s only because he’s walled off every single aspect of his existence that causes him (real) pain or sadness or grief, put it in a vault and then buried it. and confronting any of it, even a little bit (like admitting that he felt abandoned by his father leaving, or that he misses his mother, or any other normal expression of pain that katara has no problem communicating) would mean confronting all the harmful logic he has internalized regarding his identity and denial of his own inherent humanity. so even though he seems like he has no filter and loves to complain, he is actually performing pretty much constantly. for the sake of those to whom he feels obligated, but mostly for himself.

One of the biggest problems and red flags about the whole spider society was having kids be workers for them.

Now I’m not saying the spider society shouldn’t have contacted the younger spiders or even work with them! But the spider society should function as more of a support group and emergency backup type situation for the younger spiders.

There was no reason for Margo, someone who is implied to be like Miles’s age, someone who can’t even drive, to be running an integral part of the society and how they are keeping the multiverse intact. She not only ran it, but if it malfunctioned it was clearly her job and responsibility to fix. When the machine ‘breaks’ and functions while, as far as she’s aware, no one’s in it she’s panicking, even though there would be no real consequences if she just let it run. There was no reason for Gwen, a 16 yr old, to be running around the multiverse alone going on high stakes solo missions(and that’s not even getting into the whole homeless thing). We don’t know yet what Peni’s role is but we have to assume it’s similar in nature and responsibility. That is insane.

Pav is the only one who seems to have a healthy relationship with the society, because he’s not really in it! He doesn’t know the indoctrination canon events yet, we don’t see him going off on solo missions, he gets backup when he needs it and that seems to be it.

For the kids that do know the canon events theory(Margo, Peni, Gwen) I cannot even imagine what must be going through their heads. Who else from their worlds has to die. For Peni, is her last living relative, Uncle Ben, the next person for her to lose? If Gwen returns to her world how long will it take for her dad to die? What other traumatic events have Miguel’s theory dictated will happen to them next? What horrors do they know will happen to them and their loved ones that they aren’t allowed to prevent? Is Gwen destined to die young because she’s the only Gwen we see Alive? And Gwen and Hobie, Pav’s friends, do they know that Gayatri and her dad are both destined to die? Like the mental gymnastics these kids have to go through and the mental torment that goes with it.

And then on top of it, to threaten said teenagers, who you have working for you, with being kicked out and being isolated from the people that are like and understand them is really fucked up. Especially if the threatening is because they are acting like teenagers and not soldiers. If Gwen is sent home, not only is her life put in danger but so is her father’s and they all know it. That is some culty level gaslighting and even grooming. Margo and Peni both are implied to not have good home lives either. The more you think about it the worse it gets honestly, because what goes along with this is we never see any of the adult spiders say anything about this.

Miguel and Jess both saw Gwen’s father, a grown man, try to arrest his daughter with a gun pointed at her. They save her, Jess takes her under wing(and whether they meant to or not) effectively become her guardians. They monitor her with what could essentially be a baby monitor/tracking device. They can control where she can and cannot go. And while understandable to not give a teen access to the entire multiverse they were very much giving her the adult responsibilities of protecting it.

When she does screw up, because she is a child who wants to see her friend, Jessica very flippantly references Miguel sending her home, making me think this is not the first time they’ve had that conversation, which is so worrying. And then they eventually do. They knew exactly what situation they were sending her into and not only did the entire society watch Miguel do it with little protest but didn’t even mention it afterwards. Even if Gwen was a threat they had other options, rather than sending her home, where she could still be safe.

There’s also a lot to say about how Jessica, Peter B., and Miguel handled Miles that speaks more to this pattern of behavior but that’s another post.

In the comics the ‘Spider Society’ got away with this sort of stuff, even having an actual infant just chilling with the group, because the spiders were being hunted. They couldn’t go home or leave the safe space dimension because it wasn’t safe. In the movie that is very much not the case. WHY WERE TEENAGERS WORKING FOR THE SOCIETY!?

Spooky Season Day #29

You're alone, and there is no one around to help you, and even if there was, they probably wouldn't know what to do. You barely do, and you're the one with a baby in your belly.

This is not the place to give birth.

The next contraction catches you by surprise, and you nearly scream out.

"Shit!"

The contractions are coming faster now, and you are going deeper and deeper into the ruined office building, trying to get as far away from danger as possible.

Another contraction.

And another.

A moan rises in the distance.

"No!" you breathe, terrified.

Another.

And another.

The undead are closing in on you, and the sounds of their bumbling approach are scaring the shit out of you. So far, they're not on full alert, only suspecting your presence, but you know they'll swarm the second they see you.

Another contraction hits, rippling through your distended abdomen. 

You shouldn't even be out here in your condition, but times are lean, and you had no other choice if you wanted to eat. You hadn't expected that floor to give way beneath you, sending you tumbling down directly onto your swollen stomach and stirring up the nearby zombies. You'd hoped against hope that the trauma wouldn't jumpstart your labor, but when your water broke and the warm flood of liquid cascaded down the inside of your ratty jeans... 

Well, that was that, wasn't it? You were well and truly fucked.

You try to move deeper into the building, but it's too dark, and the debris and wreckage are slowing you down in your ungainly condition.

Another contraction hits, this one more severe than the last. You're barely able to stay on your feet. The intense pressure building in your pelvis makes you want to drop into a squat, and you're not sure how long you can deny the urge.

The sound of shuffling feet and moaning is growing closer.

They know you're in here, and it's only a matter of time before they find you.

And this baby is coming now.

I believe the workers who say Kurvitz was difficult to work with, especially Argo since he’s known the guy for a long time but now I have to wonder if those people now regret speaking in it.

Do I think they regret what they said? I can't say for sure because a) I cannot claim to know, let alone guess, exactly how they feel about this mess since I am not them, and b) unless someone decides to come forward about it we likely will never know.

But what I can talk about is what we do know for certain.

I've spoken on this before in a post I made about the misgivings I had with Chris Bratt's take on the ZA/UMa (ZA/UM drama) where I expressed that I felt like the video overexaggerated some of Kurvitz's behaviors and actions to make him appear like some kind of villain when we know he was slowly being frenzied by the investors for months on end. Now despite that, it still does not excuse the fact that Argo Tuulik, Kaspar Tamsalu, and Petteri Sulonen were hurt by him regardless of the circumstance (which they will resolve with him on their own time if they so choose). But as you’d also know, Tuulik has stated in his interview that even though he has his personal gripes with the man, he still greatly admires and respects Kurvitz which is a sentiment Kurvitz has echoed about all his former colleagues in an interview with Jacobin.

I can 100% understand where Tuulik is coming from in his statements about Kurvitz. It's always going to be a difficult adjustment when the person who you've been friends with for years becomes your boss because it suddenly creates a power dynamic that didn't exist before. At least in Kurvitz's case, who obviously didn't have any experience in leadership positions, it's no surprise he became such a shitty boss towards his friends and coworkers since the man clearly had no clue how to properly lead a team, was demanding perfection from everyone, on top of his stress levels being exacerbated from constant conflict with the meddling investors.

Now, if I were to speculate on this issue knowing all this, I'd say at the very least Tuulik probably feels like he's in the same boat as Kurvitz given the similarities of how they were dismissed from the studio. Whatever comes of this, whether it'd be reconciliation between the two or officially parting ways for good, is up to him. Honestly, I just hope he isn’t feeling guilty for bringing up both the good and bad about working with Robert Kurvitz in his interview. It was very brave of him to do as well as provided us outsiders with a window into the dynamic he had with Kurvitz. He couldn’t have possibly known the investors would one day retaliate against him and anyone else who voiced their dissent against their authoritarian rule of the studio. His only mistake was blindly trusting the people who spent years systematically othering Kurvitz and co in order to split the group apart so that they could be further manipulated by them.

Ngl it's pretty tiring seeing people misinterpret Rammatra's character as a memed up "racist against humans/exterminator" bc one: yikes, and two: litterally every interaction he has shows that he respects human individuals, just not the collective of humanity's inaction to stop injustice, nor individual humans that are *actively murdering his kin.*

He is trying to prevent omnic extinction, and is doing it in a way he thinks will work (in his story he tried pacifist routes, and they did not work).

Ramattra is the essence of "He is bad guy, but not bad guy." because his story is about war and trauma and how the horrors of war breaks a person. You can understand how he got to where he is, even if you don't agree with the radicalized viewpoints. And I don't mean the "stand up and fight omnic genocide" viewpoint, that is not radical, that is logical.

The major pushing point from freedom fighter to "uh what are you doing" is that Ramattra is willing to hack/take control of sentient omnics and force them to fight and die in war against thier will if it means they can win the war and prevent omnic extinction. His rushed desperation and willingness to deny an omnic's free will is what lost Ramattra his dearest team mates in NullSector, isolating him even further, (isolation which may or may not lead to more radical views down the road). From what we know NullSector still only uses drone (nonsentient) omnics, but that could change, now that NullSector joined Talon.

Ram is defaulting to his R-7000s programming due to trauma. Exactly what Bastion went through in the animated short, but instead of choosing nature and connections with others, Ramattra is pushing away all interpersonal connections and defaulting to artificial base programming: which just so happens for R-7000s to be leading omnics into war against humanity. But on top of that Ramattra also has an authentic take of: Winning, no matter the cost, as soon as possible, to save as many omnics as possible. It's a desperate attempt to save his people, because at the end of the day he was never fighting for himself. He is fighting for his people's future.

TDLR; Ramattra doesn't want human extinction, he wants to prevent omnic extinction. VERY different things.

I'm re-watching an ace attorney playthrough and you're the only tum blog i know who's also a fan/draws tum fanart of them and I had lil idea I wanted to share because I love putting characters in horrible situations: An earthquake hitting and causing pregnant Edgeworth to get stuck in an elevator, and the panic/stress triggers his labor. Or just an earthquake happening while he's giving birth and it just makes it so much harder for him

I feel like I read a fic with this premise a few years back, but I think it is lost to time :(

But I can fully picture this. He decides that regardless of his feelings about elevators... the stairs are too much for him. He's too close to his due date, his belly is too heavy to want to deal with multiple flights of stairs, even if he had been very stubborn about taking the stairs most of his pregnancy. One time wouldn't hurt... right?

God forbid he's alone, and/or doesn't even have phone service to call for help or support. It's a worst time, worst place situation. and I can't think if it would be kinder for him to struggle enough with labor that he doesn't make much progress before he can escape, or for labor to go painfully and shockingly fast, but... at least it's over? Either way he's screwed and it feels like it takes SO damn long, he's terrified about breathing too much and losing consciousness, or bleeding out.

From a wholesome, love conquers all perspective, I think Miles needing to go through labor while trapped, panicking and reliving bad memories- but HAVING PHOENIX WITH HIM, is genuinely such a narrative win.

Yes, the death of his dad in an elevator during his early childhood was immensely traumatic, and spurred YEARS of living in a newly abusive home life WHILE BLAMING HIMSELF FOR WHAT HAPPENED... but to have the man that proved he was innocent, that always believed in him, that has done SO MUCH for him... be right by his side? Is genuinely priceless. Phoenix is still a goofball that wouldn't know how to handle the situation at ALL, but he'd be there, he'd offer his hand to hold and be there to guide Miles through breathing. He'd do everything he could.

and to top it all off... he would come out of this traumatic event meeting his baby (or babies) and realizing it's a fresh start. Instead of the inciting incident for his terrible childhood and early adult life... it's the start of a whole new life that he can insure never has as tough of a time as he did.

And as a final situation, with a lot of dramatic flair:

Imagine a situation where an earthquake hits, he's stuck in an elevator, and things START to look up. He does get the chance to call for help, and ends up calling Phoenix, who rushes to be as close to his partner's side as he can be, not ONLY because of the panic but because... Mile's DOES realize he's in labor, and it IS just too much for him.

Phoenix gets there, but is given the unfortunate news that it's gonna take HOURS for technicians to solve the problem. Luckily they can open the doors to the elevator and there is some kind of access... but it would be almost impossible to get Miles OUT given how narrow all the gaps around the elevator are and how VERY pregnant Miles is.

So Phoenix is left waiting nearby, just outside, just barely within reach, but THERE. It's a lot of pain, a lot of panic and more than anything else a lot of waiting... but they do try their best and eventually make it through.

imagine being cursed with pregnancy when people have dirty thoughts about you. it’s difficult for you to be in public due to this — the constant stares and steadily growing midsection being a burden and distraction when you try to shop. now you have your groceries, clothes, and anything else you can get delivered straight to your door without any contact with people. you’re thankful that the job you have is at home so you don’t have to worry about your coworkers or the general public to cast their lustful glances upon you.

you’re in a zoom meeting with your boss and some coworkers for a presentation when you feel something stirring within you. it’s familiar and warm deep in your womb, alerting you that someone was thinking about you. eyes flicking between each person in the meeting you see one of your coworkers seeming to bore holes into you. stomach clenching in both panic and worry you only hope that you can keep a straight face as your body changes for the pregnancy. the only danger is that the meeting is an hour long, you can already feel your middle getting heavier, and know that they’ll be staring at you the whole meeting.

half an hour in your stomach is straining behind the waistband of your pants and shirt. it’s happening so fast. too fast. what the hell were they thinking about? you’re unable to keep still, having to wiggle your hips to try getting comfortable in the chair and rubbing at your expanding girth as it seems to be growing quicker now. you are desperate to know what is going on in their mind. you keep looking back to them on your screen, noticing their hooded eyes as they’re focus is clearly on you and only you. it’s a desperate juggle between keeping focused on the meeting and holding back whimpering moans as you grow wider. the end is almost in sight, you can last until the end of the meeting. everyone is saying their goodbyes as the meeting is being wrapped up. finally you can take care of your delicate predicament, allow yourself to burst out of your clothes that feel so tight it’s very uncomfortable. as you close out zoom you lean back in your chair and wince while the waistband digs further into your belly. taking short shallow breaths you hook both thumbs into your pants to push them down gingerly — you don’t want to destroy another pair of pants. at the pressure release my belly juts out suddenly, able to finally unleash it’s full size while the seams of my shirt stretch past their limits and ride up my rotund stomach. unable to move from your seat as your heart is hammering in your chest and breath hitched as you try to calm your wild thoughts. what pulls you from your thoughts is a ping from your instant messenger with a message from your horny coworker wanting to talk with you. playing with fire is dangerous in these circumstances — pushing full term in size and ready to pop any second — but you want to know about their dirty thoughts and maybe seeing how they’d react to seeing your gravid form. ALTERNATIVE: you get on a personal video call with your coworker (belly purposefully on display) and talk about the meeting. you can still feel your belly getting fuller, the skin feeling tighter and warmer as the bump grows further. nothing is held back as you grunt, groan, and squirm in your chair helplessly trying to get comfortable. they’re clearly hornier now than during the meeting by the rapid expansion of your already cumbersome form. you’re unsure how much larger you could possible get when you feel your belly drop heavily in your lap and squeeze roughly with a contraction. you’re certain that the smart idea would be ending the call immediately but you want to be on display as you push out this child with your coworker getting hornier by the second and cumming at the sight of labor progression. ALTERNATIVE 2: the longer they watch, the more babies grow within your womb. you’re getting bigger and bigger as the first child crown at your vagina. you have never done something like this before. you aren’t sure how many more fetus’ will grow in your womb but your mind is melting at the idea of being in a state of growth and birth for as long as the call lasts or the last child is being pushed out of you. whatever comes first.

I'm very excited about tomorrow. I'm going to dismantle my bed and put together a new one all by myself over the whole day in my small apartment, which is the best Sunday possible, it's gonna be so exhausting but so much fun. I have to find a cool long playlist... Or I could listen to a book!!

#I know this site is full of furniture-building afficionados it's an autistic thing isn't it #I love puzzles so 3D human-sized jigsaws that imply physical labor and make me feel masc are the best #I hope the delivery comes early in the morning so I can get to it as soon as possible #(also carrying the 86kg of parts up to my 4th floor apartment in several trips will be tiring so I'd like to get it out of the way quickly)

perhaps the reason why aup ended like *that* is because it was not supposed to have a happy ending in the first place, but sayren didnt have the guts to deal with readers' backlash for when they finally kill off the main character so a half baked happy ending is what we get 😔

#for a happy ending of a story to be narratively satisfying the characters gotta actively work hard for it #this happy ending feels empty because quite frankly speaking ludger did nothing to deserve it #he has zero character developments from the beginning to the end and has always been the same #well except for his emotional state getting worse over time #bc instead of making any attempt at all to healthily address it like a mentally mature 40yo adult he let it swallow him whole #(not that im necessarily blaming him but its quite frustrating to see him remain unchanged if aup is meant to be a redemption story) #his OPness is inherent #his genius is inherent #(this is not to say he isnt hardworking / only relying on his inborn talents but the author repeatively failed the 'show dont tell' checks) #(bc it was only implied in the past and we've never truly seen it in the canon present timeline either) #his kindness is inherent #ngl dad!ludger content doesnt appeal to me as much as dad!edgeworth cuz the latter is the fruit of the character's growth and hard labor #while the former is well... its just who he is #usually i love found family content but in aup it bores my mind out bc his interactions w the students + owens are so static & predictable #it was heartwarming at the moment of adoption but later on i find it as tedious as reading generic established romantic relationships #was it because of the lack of tensions and conflicts i wonder #they all became his yes men and no one ever actively challenged his unhealthy mindset or behaviors #anyway id have been more interested if he recognized his biases/favoritism/prejudices towards some certain characters & worked to change it #but welp. that would require character growth which is too much to expect from him ig #he has learnt quite nothing from his journey and tbh aup would ironically feel more meaningful if it ended on a tragic note #ofco i got noblesse'd again 😔 #would i kill for aup to have a happy ending? yes #would i rather have a sad ending over the half baked and empty good ending we get? also yes #if it must burn then let the whole world burn. cuz at least it would be more much memorable and impactful that way #and i wouldnt have to feel this disappointed and lose all of my interests in one of my only two beloved aroace MCs in aup </2 #rant
