Your mother tried to prevent this for you but as queen she had to listen to her council telling her you were of age and had to find the proper candidate to be king consort for you were the next in line
Transition wasnt easy there were people who didnt want Rhaenyra on the throne but as ideal as it was the next generation would be a woman also and you had duties as princess of Dragonstone where you seated in the throne room surrended by Lord of Westeros as your mother was many years ago listening to your prospects
It was the last of all places you have wanted to be there, you wanted to be on top of your dragon flying around westeros, with your brothers, you wondered why they didnt have to endure so much sacrifice but your mother betrothed them to your sisters Baela and Rhaena, instead she wanted to give you the choise for you to chose the one you were to share your life and your throne one day
Ser Erryk was asigned as your sworn protector beside you locked eyes with you as you tried not to laugh at some of the options...
- this is really necesary... why should I get married anyway...
- so you would be protected princess and maybe find love
- marriage is a political affair Ser Erryk, there is no love involve
You tried to keep going with your task to listened to all your pretenders and tried very hard for your eyes not to shut down falling asleep
- Princess Y/n Velaryon the Prince Aemond Targaryen - they anouced your uncle and he appeared at the doors of the hall so tall and handsome, his blonde thick long hair falling into his shoulders, he had a long coat and his weapons adorned his waist, from all the men present he was the most handsome for you
Tumblr media
- uncle... what a refreshing surprise...
- you are in need of saving my niece?
- thats the only reason you came to Dragonstone...
- I came looking for you... you are in no need of this spectacle...
- my prince if I may..
- you may not Lord Umber... I believed the princess is already betrothed - you hide a smile
- I believe the prince is correct my lord..
- since when?? - you looked at your uncle and he smile noding his head a little
Tumblr media
- since right now I believe... sir Erryk...- you rise from the chair and walked out as Erryk followed tou and Ameond walked beside you - you really surprised me
- you should not have come for this...
- it is require of me... the council wants me married by my 7th and 10th name day
- I talked to the queen before coming here... I asked her your hand in marriage
- I thought you were already betrothed...- he stayed in silence looking at you - what did my mother say?
- she said it was your desition...
- why now... you were my only choice since we've been kids... then you claimed Vaghar and everything was different until recently
- Avy jorrāelan - he spoke those words in high Valaryan and left you in shock... - no lady in the 7 kingdoms can compare to you for me
- I expect romance my prince if you are to be my husband
- as my lady requires - Aemond grab your hand and kiss it and you hold his hand heartfully, you smile for the first time relieved that you found the person that was destenied for you, he had just to rescue you

I think I found my most hated genre of fics under the Daemon and Rhaenyra tag in ao3 with any Aemond/Lucerys kind of fics and any Aemond/OC fics but no. I believe I found something I cannot stomach, in a completely different way, but still makes me wanna hurl. Fics where they basically redeem Aegon the Usurper and make it so that he becomes King without fault. Yo, I cannot stomach this. Baby Aegon Cheeks and Viserys not being King? Targs with Hightower Blood continuing the main Targ Line?😭😭😭 Im biased, I know, but man can I not stand the blood of otto and alicent remaining on the throne no matter the circumstances even if the author makes Aegon TuTu into a saint thats beatified
Hi Anon 😊
If those fics are in the redacted universe - which I can’t imagine them not being 😂 - I can’t understand the complaint about Egg 2 becoming the king.
I mean he cosplays as Aegon III, called Helen an idiot, and Almond Milk a twat. He also you know what 😎 in the same balcony as showTommen k🍡lled himself. I can appreciate his chaotic energy and other things aside, I stan him the most. Go off king!
Also at the end of the day Droopy aka Phantom of the Opera and of the Leprosy was a wife killer who got an end too good for him. Anything that comes after him is an improvement! Also please cut Alicia some slack she had to be topped by Droopy for 20+ years. My girl deserves a break. 😭
As for the real upsetting part, that clearly is the Renada/Matt content 🤢 So my question is, does Matt have the ability to get hard now that Renada is older than 18 or does Renada have to go to Dornishcel for a good old dose of potency? 🤔 she loved Matt so much ❤️ I also have a hc that notViserys is Dornishcel’s son along with Loserys, Jackarys, and Jeffrey.
Also does Renada finally fullfill her dream of becoming a knight and riding into battle? And if yes, does anyone make us a solid and end her? Asking for a friend because I might like that one 🥰
Also also, are Matt/Pentos guy endgame? Cause that’s who I ship in redacted universe. 😊
PS: to be fair to you though Anon, many ff out there was already of dubious quality before redacted and already came up with some convoluted sh:t. I have seen one (like in 2019) where actual Aegon II was called “the golden prince” by the smallfolk so imagine the level 😂 in the same one Rhaenyra slept with any man that came her way and conveniently the author cut out her ever being seduced by Daemon in her younger days because in their words they didn’t want to make her a victim. Hum… Daemon there kind of read like Matt actually 🤔 did Miguel write this? There was more like the full on platter of fics that turned Rhaenyra into the love child of Cersei and Lolita, those who had Daemon r🐻ped and humiliate her (don’t worry he was a great guy when he was with Laena and Nettles) and one of my favs one where the author not only copied several things from me like the nicknames I used but used them for Daemon and Laena. In the same fic Rhaenyra forced herself on Laenor. Yes :) the r is word.
PPS: Were all these people eventually hired to write redacted 🤔 I would think so. Well except that last person cause redacted got me screaming justice for Lana!
PPPS: where is my redacted fic where Lana kills everyone and becomes Queen of Westeros?

Game of Thrones Masterlist
Masterlist
~~~~~~~
It had been a week since your son had been born and many things had happened. You learned that one of Daenerys’ dragons had been killed, most of the fleet destroyed, and Missandei captured. Brienne had come to visit you and the child as well. She apologized for the way she handled things when she encountered your trio years ago. She did not know the significance Sandor had in your life and never knew how to approach you about it. You accepted her apology immediately and you apologized to her as well for your naïve attitude and your hate towards her.
The same night Brienne apologized to you, Jaime Lannister fled Winterfell to go back to Cersei. You had known that Brienne and Jaime were together and when you found out he left, you went to console her.
 “He doesn’t deserve you,” you said. “If he leaves you for another woman when he had you then he’s not worth your tears.”
 You wiped away the tears running down her cheeks and looked her in the eyes.
 “You are strong. You are beautiful. You deserve better. Don’t let one man ruin things for you forever. It’s okay to still love him, but don’t let that take over everything.”
 Brienne gave you a watery smile and sat up a little straighter.
 “Thank you, Lady [y/n],” Brienne said. You stood up and kissed her forehead.
 “You should get some rest. I have a feeling that we’re going to do some traveling soon.”
 ---
 Turns out that you were right. A raven arrived from King’s Landing a week later and before you knew it, you were traveling down the Kingsroad. Brienne and Sansa hadn’t wanted you go with them because of the baby, but you went anyways. It took little less than a month to get to the Capital and it looked nothing like you remembered.
 Buildings and houses were charred and crumbling. Ash was still on the streets, swept away into corners. The Red Keep was almost all burnt down. The people of King’s Landing were trying their best to rebuild their homes and lives but it would take years to get things back to the way they were.
 The raven had told you where to go and once more, you found yourself in the Dragonpit. You were seated between Sansa and Brienne, your babe on your lap. Bran and Arya were next to Sansa. You were the first ones there. Ser Davos and Gendry were the next ones to arrive, with Yara, Robin, Yhon Royce, and the rest to follow. Another person showed up with the last group and you couldn’t breathe. It was Sandor, alive and well. The two of you locked eyes and your chest hurt. He looked like he was going to approach you when Greyworm brought out Tyrion before you in chains. Jon was nowhere to be seen.
 “Where’s Jon?” Sansa asked Greyworm.
 “He is our prisoner.”
 “So is Lord Tyrion,” you said. “They were both supposed to be here.”
 “We will decide the fate of our prisoners. This is our city now.”
 “If you look outside the walls of your city, you’ll find thousands of Northmen who will explain to you why harming Jon Snow is not in your interest.”
 “And you will find thousands of Unsullied who believe that it is.”
 “Some of you are quick to forgive. The Ironborn are not. I swore to follow Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow put a knife through her heart. Let them give him what he deserves,” Yara said, venom spewing from her words.
 “Say one more word about killing my brother and I’ll slit your throat.” Arya’s face was ruthless and cold. Yara made to stand up but Ser Davos beat her to it.
 “Friends, please. We’ve been killing each other for too long.” He turned to face Greyworm. “Torgo Nudho. Am I saying that properly? If it weren’t for you and your men, we would have lost the fight with the dead. This country owes you a debt that can never be repaid. But let us try. There is land in the Reach. Good land. The people that used to live there are gone. Make it your own, start your own house with the Unsullied as your bannermen.”
 “I agree. We’ve had enough war. Thousands of you, thousands of us. You know how it ends. There has to be another way,” you said.
 “We do not need payment. We need justice,” Greyworm spat. “Jon Snow cannot go free.”
 Ser Davos sat back down and Tyrion let out a small breath.
 “It’s not for you to decide,” Tyrion said.
 “You are not here to speak!” Greyworm shouted. “Everyone has heard enough words from you.”
 “You’re right. And no one’s any better for it. But it’s not for you to decide.” Tyrion looked up at everyone. “Jon Snow committed his crime here. It is for our King to decide. Or our Queen.”
 “But we don’t have a King or Queen,” Royce said.
 “You’re the most powerful people in Westeros. Choose one.”
 “Make your choice. Quickly.”
 Everyone was silent for once and was looking around at the other people. Nobody spoke until your uncle stood up. He started a little speech talking about him being one of the senior lords in the country and that he knew a little bit about statecraft. It was then that Sansa intervened.
 “Uncle. Please sit,” she said. He kind of spluttered a bit and only sat down when Sansa gestured to his seat with her head. He backed into a pole and it took all your willpower not to laugh.
 “Well, we have to choose someone,” Royce said. That’s when Sam got up and suggested that the people help pick a monarch. Everyone did laugh at that and Sam sat back down, more than slightly embarrassed. It was a funny notion, but you didn’t laugh at your friend.
 “I suppose you want the crown,” your uncle said to Tyrion.
 “Me? No. Half the people hate me for serving Daenerys and the other half hate me for betraying her. Can’t think of a worse choice.”
 “Who then?” You asked.
 “What unites people? Armies? Gold? Flags?” Tyrion shook his head. “Stories. There’s nothing in the world more powerful than a good story. Nothing can stop it. No enemy can defeat it. And who has a better story than Bran the Broken?”
 You sat up a little straighter and looked at your siblings in confusion. When you looked back at Tyrion, he kept speaking.
 “The boy who fell from a high tower and lived. He knew he would never walk again, so he learned how to fly. He went beyond the wall. A crippled boy. And he became the Three-Eyed-Raven. He is our memory, our history. All the wars, weddings, births, massacres, and famines. Our triumphs and our defeats. Our past. Who better to lead us into the future?”
 “Bran has no interest in ruling and he can’t father children,” Sansa said.
 “Good. Sons of Kings can be cruel and stupid, as you well know. His will never torment us,” Tyrion said to Sansa. To Greyworm he said, “That is the wheel our Queen wanted to break.”
 “From now on rulers will not be born. They will be chosen on this spot by the Lords and Ladies of Westeros to serve the realm.” He turned to Bran. “I know you don’t want it. I know you don’t care about power. But I ask you now, if we choose you, would you wear the crown?”
 “Why do you think I came all this way?” Bran said after a moment. Tyrion looked a little shocked that Bran had actually said yes and you knew that the other people in this meeting were feeling the same way.
 “To Brandon of House Stark, I say aye,” Tyrion said. Everyone was quiet until you and Sam said ‘aye’ at the same time. Tyrion sent the both of you a grateful look. Your uncle was next followed by the men from the Vale. Yara and the new Prince of Dorne agreed as well along with Gendry and Ser Davos. Brienne agreed as well, but you saw that Sansa was trying to pick out words again.
 “You know I love you, little brother. I always will. You’ll be a good King. But tens of thousands of Northmen fell defending Westeros. And those who survived have fought too hard and too much to ever kneel again,” Sansa said. “The North will remain an independent country, as it was for thousands of years.”
 Bran nodded in consent and you could see the relief flood through Sansa’s body.
 “All hail Bran the Broken,” Tyrion said. Everyone stood up and repeated those words. When everyone sat back down, Tyrion bowed to the new King and started to make his way out of the Pit.
 “Tyrion,” Bran called. “You will be my hand.”
 “N-No, your grace. I don’t want it.”
 “I know. And I don’t want to be King.” Tyrion shook his head.
 “I don’t deserve it. I thought I was wise but it turns out I’m not. I thought that I knew what was right, but I did not. Choose Ser Davos. Choose anyone else.”
 “I choose you.”
 “You cannot,” Greyworm said angrily.
 “Yes I can. I’m King.”
 “This man is a criminal. He deserves justice.”
 “He just got it. He’s made a lot of terrible mistakes. He’s going to spend the rest of his days fixing them.”
 Greyworm was angry and he spat out, “That’s not enough!”
 ---
 After about an hour of talking, a decision was made. Jon would go back to Castle Black as a member of the Night’s Watch. You and your sisters wanted him freed completely, but you recognized that this was the only way for your brother to keep his head. You would miss seeing him every day, but you’d lived with this before so it shouldn’t be too hard. Jon was to leave that evening and you had a few hours before you had to say goodbye. Everyone was slowly trickling out of the Dragonpit when Sandor came up to you.
 “Dove,” Sandor said quietly. You froze and slowly turned around.
 “I thought I told you not to call me that.”
 “You did.”
 “Why are you here, Sandor?” Your voice sounded tired and Sandor could see it in your eyes.
 “I heard you were here and I wanted to talk to you.”
 “Talk about what? How you left me for some petty revenge? How I gave birth with you not by my side? How I have been raising our son without you?”
 “I-I have a son?” Sandor’s heart skipped a beat and your chest tightened at the sound of his voice breaking.
 “Yes.”
 “What’s his name?”
 “Eddard. Eddard Stark.”
 “Are you going by Stark too?”
 “Ever since you left me.” Sandor was silent for a moment. He stepped closer to you tentatively.
 “Would you ever take me back?” You sucked in a breath, eyes wide.
 “I know I fucked up and I know it will take a lot to fix it. If you’ll even take me back, that is. But even if you decide not to, I want you to know that I still love you. I always have. I’ll always love our babe and I will do anything for the two of you.”
 His voice was so quiet you could barely hear it, but it was also so loud that it was ringing in your ears. Your eyes filled with tears and you gestured to Sansa to take Eddard from your arms. When your arms were free, you wrapped them around Sandor tightly. It took him a few seconds to respond, but soon you were being spun around. You let out a giggle that was cut short by Sandor kissing you. It was a sweet kiss that you broke shortly after it began.
 “While I love kissing you, I think you’d like to officially meet your son, yes?”
 Sandor’s eyes lit up and Sansa brought over your son. You took him from her and gently placed him in his father’s arms. You showed Sandor how to hold him properly and the sight made you melt. Finally, your family was complete.
I don't think Daenerys has gone mad, she made a choice, and it was the wrong choice. (Long post)
Disclaimer: I'm a woman and a historian so please don't start throwing 'sexism' and 'jon is only better because he has a d**k' statements at me.
Soo I dont think Dany has gone mad. I think she has PTSD and she made a choice out of anger and desperation.
Let's go back to the beginning, Viserys told Dany from day one that the Targaryens belonged on the throne and it was stolen from them. She grew up with that mentality but she never seemed all the bothered by it. She pretty much knew even if Viserys was given an army he would probably fail. Dany was happy in her life as Khaleesi, it was only after she watched her brother die and Drogo said he would take the seven kingdoms for her than she seemed to think she should be queen.
Dany got a taste for power as Khaleesi and was pissed when she couldn't have everything she wanted. She wanted to claim all the slaves as her own but that wasn't the Dothraki way, even Jorah told her that but she wasnt having it making her very unpopular with the Dothraki.
She went against all the Dothraki believed in when she had magic used on Drogo. Once she really messed him up she lost the great khalessar and any respect she may have had. She was tolerated because she was Drogos wife. Only the women, children and lame stayed behind with her.
Once she gave 'birth' to her dragons she started to be seen almost like a goddess. Everyone kneeled to her even Jorah. She started to show signs that fire was now her answer to dealing with people she doesn't like. Remember Miri Maz Durr who was supposed to save Drogo? She had her burned alive because Dany thought she owed her her life. Dany thought she was a hero and should be treated like one, but remember Miri Maz Durr's words to her:
"Saved me? Three of those riders had already raped me before you saved me, girl. I saw my god's house burn, there where I had healed men and women beyond counting. In the streets I saw piles of heads... the head of the baker who makes my bread, the head a young boy that I had cured of fever just three moons past. So... tell me again exactly what it was that you saved?"
Miri Maz was traumatized and her world ended, she told Dany that a life had to be taken for Drogo's, Dany just wanted what she wanted and unfortunately it was her son's life that was taken. Her solution? She burned Miri Maz on a funeral pyre. Miri Maz lost everything and took revenge, Dany lost a lot and did what? She massacred an entire city of Innocent people. By Danys own logic she should be burned to.
Then what? Dany went and started to free slaves, great! But she used fire to deal with her enemies again. I'm not pro slavery, but the slave traders weren't Danys enemies, she decided to turn up then burn and crucify them all. She took it upon herself to decide how those cities should be run when she had no place there at all. Then she got all the Unsullied who decided to stay with her, which makes sense because she freed them, same with the other slaves. Once again Dany was hailed as a Goddess 'Mysa!' 'Mother of Dragons' 'Breaker of chains' 'the unburned' and all that Jazz. All that praise? Goes to a persons head.
Dany would liberate these cities and then she would leave them in chaos. Dany might be good at liberating people who had no say in their lives and wouldn't embrace the first person to treat them as people, but she sucks as governing.
Dany said she was going to break the wheel rather than stop the wheel. She hadn't even seen the bloody wheel in Westeros. All she had was stories. Dany believed she belonged on the throne just because of her name.
Tyrion? Varys? They chose Dany because at the time they thought she might be the best answer and they hadn't seen her more murderous tendencies. Plus anyone has to be better than Cersei on the throne right? And no one knew about Jon.
When Dany finally got to Westeros she said she always thought it would feel like a home coming, but it wasnt. Why? Because it's not Danys home, she doesn't belong there. She immediately expected everyone in Westeros to bend the knee to her purely because she finally decided to show up and demand the throne. No one knew who she was, no one had ever seen her before.
Dany was used to being in a Khalessar or 'ruling' over a city. Dany has no experience in fuedalism. She demanded Jon bend the knew and said he was in open rebellion against her. Open rebellion against a woman who claims the crown but hasnt actually done anything to get it? Open rebellion against a woman he and the North have never even seen or knew anything about other than she has dragons?
People say Dany saved everyone's arses from the white walkers. That's just not true. Dany claims to be Queen of the Seven kingdoms? Well then the problems of those kingdoms become hers. If Dany had left Jon to deal with the white walkers then yeah he probably would have been killed along with everyone else. But then Dany would have had a white walker problem to deal with on her own. The walkers and the Night King would have destroyed the North and headed South killing everyone in their path while Dany sat at Dragon Stone waiting for people to bend the knee. There wouldn't have been anyone left to do that and the Night King would have destroyed her armies and then her. So no, Dany helped with an issue that according to her own claims became her own.
Dany is foolish to, when she meets Jon she hardly believes that white walkers are even a thing. In the same scene she then tell Jon about how no one believed Dragons would exist again but there they were. So she believes that she's great enough to bring back dragons but the very idea that White Walkers are a thing is beyond her comprehension? This woman has seen magic and visions!
Dany also told Jon it was her destiny to be Queen of the seven kingdoms. Well that's just nonsense and something she's just convinced herself to be true because she wasnt born to be queen. She had two older brothers and an elder nephew and niece, add Jon to the mix and Dany would never have been destined to be queen.
Dany and Sansa didn't get on because Sansa wasn't taken in by Dany like many others have been. Sansa isn't dazzled by titles or dragons. While Dany and Jon were busy squabbling over who should rule Sansa was busy making sure her people had enough food and leather in their armour to keep them warm. Sansa had no interest in the North giving up their autonomy to a woman they had never seen before. Jon had no right to give the North to Dany, he was elected king, that doesn't make him an absolute monarch.
Dany asked for Jon's advice and he told her not to go burning people because 'she wouldn't be different, she would be more or the same". She then Immediately goes and burns the Lannister army without giving them a chance to surrender. She let's a few live, and demands they bend the knee or they die. Thats not really a choice at all, it's dictatorship. Even Tyrion tries to talk her out of that, he knows how Westeros works and Dany doesn't. She then burned Lord Tarly and his son. She won't have the love of those people, she can't demand their love and she can't gain it the same way she did in Merreen. The people of Westeros aren't slaves, they dont want her or need her.
After they won the battle for Winterfell Dany was seen to be on the outside looking in at the feast. She helped save the day, but she doesn't know anyone in the North. The Northerners celebrate with family and friends. Jon and Sansa and the wildlings all drink together, Tyrion is drinking with Jaime and Brienne. Dany expects everyone to worship her because she had been treated like that for years so when it doesn't happen she feels put out. It's not Danys fault, it's just no one has ever put a check on her power until she arrived in the North. The Unsullied and the Dothraki aren't Danys 'friends' they worship and serve her.
Dany finds out Jon is a Targaryen and the true heir to the throne. She begs him not to tell anyone something she has no right to do. He tells his family though and of course it spreads. Sansa doesn't trust Dany and I dont blame her. Jon may not want to be king but he doesn't go around burning people to get respect. Jon already has it, he's a Northerner, he's the 'son' of an honorable Lord. He's was Lord Commander of the Nights Watch, he's been beyond the wall, he fought white walkers, he fought in the battle of the bastards. Jon was elected king in the North. Jon doesn't demand respect because he feels he's entitled to it. He even came back from the dead but he doesn't brag about it. He doesn't call himself 'Jon Snow, The King in the North, the Ressurected one". So yeah given the choice between the two I'd have chosen Jon to.
Varys realises he made the wrong choice, he serves the people and always has. He would place his bets on Jon rather than Dany given what he was seen and he dies for it.
Tyrion knows he's fucked up, Dany doesn't believe the people in Kings Landing are important at all. She's so focused on getting what she wants she doesn't stop to think about the very people she claims to be coming to save.
Dany lost a dragon saving Jon, she lost another one because she didn't have the foresight to check the bloody perimeter and her dragon was killed. She took her best friend and advisor who doesn't know how to fight to the battle and she was kidnapped and killed.
Dany then made the decision to 'kill them all' with fire even AFTER the city surrendered. She could have just flown to the Red Keep and killed Cersei who was standing on the balcony. Dany made a choice and it was the wrong one. Dany isn't mad, she's traumatized and she's realised she would NEVER have the love and respect of the people of Westeros. She has done nothing to earn it, nothing that anyone else hasnt done. She has shown the people that if you say no to her she will burn you to a crisp. She's tried so hard not to be her father but ironically that's exactly what she's become. She said she hadn't come to be the queen of fire and Ash but that's exactly what she's done.
Dany has no head for strategy or ruling. She believes she's there to free people but the fact is Westeros isn't Mereen. The people of Westeros aren't slaves , they don't need their Lords killed. Dany wants to be the savior of a country that doesn't need or want her to save them.
Dany doesn't realise that soldiers of Westeros aren't like the Dothraki or the Unsullied. They don't all fight because they believe in the cause. The soldiers live under the lesser Lords who are the bannermen to the higher Lord who then swear allegiance to the monarch. Those soldiers and Innocents she burned all died pointlessly. She burns the majority then give the fraction of survivers a choice?
Look at all the other kings in Westeros, none of them acted like Dany does save for maybe Joffrey and we all know how that ended. Joffrey at least didn't believe himself to be absolute, he was put in his place by Tywin. The other kings? Robert? He was loved , Renly was loved, Stannis was respected, Robb was loved, Tommen was tolerated but didn't really do anything, but Margery was loved.
In conclusion Dany had good intentions when she started out but she was praised so much it went to her head and she started acting like that was her due. She broke chains and freed slaves and seemed to think that's what Westeros needed. She doesn't know how to rule, she's impatient and doesnt like listening to advice. She demands respect and expects to be obeyed by people she has never met before. She acts like her father even though she claims he was an 'evil man'. Remember when she apologized to Jon on behalf of her house because of what happened to his grandfather and uncle? Who is going to apologise to the people of Kings Landing? How is Dany not an 'evil woman'? Dany did exactly the same thing that made Jaime stab her father in the back. Dany knows what she did was evil.
There is no coming back from what she has done. If there was even a chance for her to at least gain the people's respect if not love she just lost it. She will forever be on everyone's hit list now. Dany has become everything she spent years fighting against.
I think what needs to happen is Drogon needs to die. Dany will always be protected while he is there. Drogon needs to be taken out then Dany.
Undying love final part ~ Tyrion Lannister imagine
Tumblr media
A/N- :(:
Warning- violence, angst...
Tagged- @imsarahsexual
A cold chill goes over your body as you wake up from a sleep. You don’t remember ever being here or recognize the place you are in. It doesn’t look like dragonstone or winterfell. You try to turn around but it’s hard to move. You feel throbbing pain shoot throughout your head. You try to move to your hands to touch your hurting head but you notice the chains on your hands. You squint your eyes to try and adjust to the brightness coming from the windows. You finally shift around and notice Tyrion is not here or anywhere in the room. But you do notice Missandei.
“Missandei?” You say her name and she lifts her head up at the sound of your voice.
“Y/N you’re awake.” She says softly. As you take a better look at her you notice that she has on chains too and her hair is all over the place.
“Where are we? Do you know?” You ask her to see if she would have any answer.
“I believe we are in the red keep in Kingslanding.” She answers you. You try to get closer to her but you fall on your knees. You try to push yourself up but the chains are making it a little hard. Being in chains just reminds you of before Daenerys has saved you and freed you. You will always be thankful to her for that. If it weren’t for her you wouldn’t be free or have met Tyrion.
As you push yourself you hear footsteps approaching from outside the room and then open the door revealing the mountain or atleast thats What Tyrion believed he was. And just behind him was a golden head Cersei Lannister.
~
A cold chill entered the room making you hug yourself tighter with the warm furs on the bed. You turn your body to be on your other side and face Tyrion who was in deep sleep after the battle with the night king. Even if you two were in the crypts and the fight wasn’t compered to the one that happened on the field it was still difficult.
You notice his chest going up and down lightly as he sleeps just beside you. You see his scar on his face. A scar that he never liked you seeing but it was impossible not too. He said that it only made him uglier but you didn’t think that at all. You loved his scar and always told him so. You smile slightly to yourself at the sight of him. The sight of him beside you. alive. And here with you.
“You’re staring.” He said with his eyes still closed and his voice hoarse and deep after sleeping. His sudden outburst startled you because you had thought he was asleep.
“No I’m not I’m just admiring you.” You said with a wider smile as you moved a strand of hair from his face. He smirked at your comment. “How do you know? Your eyes are closed.” You tell him and he smiles finally opening his eyes and stretching out his arms.
“I felt it.” He said putting a hand on your cheek and stroking it. He moves himself so he could be closer to you. You then rest your hand on his cheek. “Good morning.” He said quietly as he pressed a gently kiss on your lips.
“Good morning.” You repeated to him. You enjoyed the mornings because it felt that it was only time you had alone ever since you arrived at Westeros. You enjoyed waking up to him and seeing him here with you by your side.
~
(TYRION)
He got to shore coughing up some water from the sea. His legs and arms aching from swimming to shore. He pushed himself up and patted his pants from all the sand that he now had. He looked around for any sign of you and when he didn’t notice you on shore he began to panic. He walked alongside the shore with a quick step to see if he could see you because maybe you had swam further away from him. He looked over his shoulders frantically and looked down at the people still arriving on shore.
“Y/N!!” He called out to you as he went into the water to see if you were still swimming. He heard Greyworm call out to Missandei just like he did to you. He felt his heart pound in his heart as their was no sight of you anywhere. He didn’t know if you had survived the attack or if you had arrived at another part of the shore or if you were dead. But what he didn’t know and what he feared was you being taken by Euron Greyjoy to be taken to his sister. He feared you being there with her. Being with the women that hated him most and has been wanting him to die and suffer ever since birth. He couldn’t lose you to her. Not you.
~
(Y/N)
“I know you you’re my brothers whore.” Cersei said as she came closer to you examining you. You kept your head low not looking up at her. “You’re that foreigner who advises Daenerys Targaryen. My brother does have a thing for foreigners.” She continued saying. You could feel her gaze. More like her Glare on you. Everytime she spoke to you it felt like she spat out venom. You’ve heard of how much she hates Tyrion and you’ve heard of her wrath. As much as you tried not to be scared you still were.
“We’re about to go see him let’s see how much he really loves you.” She spat out as you heard her walk away and then felt arms pull you towards where you heard her leave to. Your fear only increased more at the sound of her saying that you were going to see him and not knowing what she will do.
-
You walked far. Your feet were beginning to ache your wrists were already hurting because of the chains on your arms. As you walked you noticed that the streets were empty and that everything seemed quiet. You could hear no birds or anything beside the wind and the metal and footsteps. Your fear felt like it only increased as you got closer to the platform on top of the walls. You couldn’t even look at Missandei one of your best friends beside Daenerys. They were both like sisters to you. And not being able to see Missandei even if she was behind you made you feel worse. You wanted to feel atleast a slight comfort by just seeing her but you couldn’t.
As you got to the top you and Missandei were harshly pushed forward. You turned your head and saw Missandei next to you. Both the same expression on your face. Even if you both didn’t show it you both were afraid. But seeing right now did bring you that comfort you so much needed.
Your eyes searched until you saw the small figure of Tyrion approaching trying to closer so he could make sure Cersei could hear him. You could tell he was afraid just as you were you could see it in his eyes. You were trying to put on a brave face for him so he could remain somewhat calm on the whole ordeal. You couldn’t even concentrate on the words they were both exchanging. You could only hear your heartbeat. You looked and saw Daenerys, Greyworm and Varys standing further back. You could see Daenerys last dragon Drogon.
~
(Tyrion)
“I promise you I’ll never let her touch you ever.”
He saw you up there chained up, hair all over the place and next to the person that hated him most. His sister. He felt like his heart dropped at the sight of you up there. The women he loved. The women he was in love with. Their was women he loved before but now he knew that none of them compered to you. He was truly in love with you. He thought he could never love again but he then met you. He saw the way you looked at him, with no hate, you didn’t see a monster in him like many others did. He loved you and promised to protect you and he saw you up there now and he feels like he’s failing.
“Cersei let both of them go and surrender.” He continued pleading to his sister. His eyes shifted often to yours. Looking for any reaction but you had the same calm expression you often seemed to have. One that calmed him and made him feel happy and made him feel safe. “Please just let them go atleast.” He pleaded. That caused Cersei to scoff and have her signature smirk on her face, one that he always wanted to slap off. She didn’t say anything but keep her stupid smirk on her face. She knew how much you meant to him and she played with that.
Cersei turned her body to you and then grabbed onto your arm making Tyrion flinch from below.
“If you have any last words now is the time.” Cersei whispered to you. Tyrion saw you look down at the ground below you and then him. Your eyes were watery but you put on a small smile on your face one that he loved.
“Please! Cersei!” He begged his own eyes glossy as he took a step closer like if that would do anything. She only kept her eyes glued on him and then turned to the mountain.
“Dracarys.” Missandei said. Tyrion looked over to you waiting for you to say something.
He wanted to run to you he wanted to ride that damned dragon himself and burn Cersei just to save you from what was about to happen.
“Look at the sky, you see the sun the stars and the moon all rotate and move to another place every night every morning. The same routine. They move but always come back day after day never tire. Whenever we’re separated always look up at the sky and you’ll know I’ll come back to you because just like them I’ll never tire of you.......” Y/N whispered to Tyrion as they both drank wine on the balcony and looked up to the sky taking in eachothers prescence. A small warm smile appeared on his face as you told him that.
You looked down at him with so much love and that smile he fell in love with everytime he saw it. Even if you were about to die you still had that smile. He hated himself for not doing more to save you.
“Please!” He cried out with so much despair something he has never showed before. But Cersei’s decision still remained the same.
“I love you.” You said. Your last words pained him. Hearing them made the tears roll down furiously and made his heartbreak into millions of pieces.
“ I love you too.” He said with tears.
He heard and saw the sword getting taken out from The mountains sheath. It swung first at Missandei. Causing him to gasp and look away. When he looked back Cersei had the same smirk. As the mountain was about to kill you Cersei put her hand out signaling him to stop.
“a day will come when you think you’re safe and happy and your joy will turn to ashes in your mouth and you’ll know the debt is paid.” She said to him with venom lacing through each word. He swallowed thickly as he heard those same words he had said to her once long ago. Cersei put her hand down and nodded towards The mountain. “The debt is paid little brother.” He raised his sword and then it went down your neck. He couldn’t look at you die. He didn’t want that to be last memory of you. He wanted to remember your last moments with that smile.
His eyes went wide at the sound of sword the sound of the your body hitting the ground. He looked up to the sky. He turned his head slowly and when he saw you his cries turned into a loud sob. He walked over to your lifeless and dismembered body. When he reached your head he fell on his knees.
“Please, please, please, please. No no no no.” He kept saying. He kept pleading that this was some horrible nightmare. That he would wake up and you would be by his side. “ I love you so much.” He closed his eyes and turned to the sky . With his eyes closed he could still see you. Happy and with a smile.
“Whenever we’re separated always look up at the sky and you’ll know I’ll come back to you because just like them I’ll never tire of you..... Because you and me Tyrion have that undying love.”
Arya and Gendry hints from the books...
Tumblr media
Ok, I should had written about them to be honest, but life got it in the way. So, for you, lets go. I have to admit that once I reread Arya’s chapters last year, her relationship with Gendry was absolutely delicious to read. There is a lot of foreshadowing for this couple, I am not sure if they will end up together … One of the first foreshadows happens pretty much in the first book, there is always references of hammers and blacksmiths on Arya storyline, its actually pretty funny.
She frowned down at them with dismay and glanced over to where her sister Sansa sat among the other girls. Sansa's needlework was exquisite. Everyone said so. "Sansa's work is as pretty as she is," Septa Mordane told their lady mother once. "She has such fine, delicate hands." When Lady Catelyn had asked about Arya, the septa had sniffed."Arya has the hands of a blacksmith."
A Game of Thrones - Arya I
Arya has the hand of a blacksmith!!!!! This is pretty good.
“Is that why you killed all the Starks?”
“Not all,” said Jaime. “Lord Eddard’s daughters live. One has just been wed. The other…” Brienne, where are you? Have you found her? “…if the gods are good, she’ll forget she was a Stark. **She’ll wed some burly blacksmith** or fat-faced innkeep, fill his house with children, and never need to fear that some knight might come along to smash their heads against a wall.”
- Jaime, ADWD
Again, thats pretty on the nose.
Their friendship begins because Gendry takes her side when everyone else is either ignoring her or bullying/attacking her. And later on they become pretty much inseparable, they even share their food with each other.
“Leave him be,” said the boy with the shaggy black hair who rode behind them. Lommy had named him the Bull, on account of this horned helm he had that he polished all the time but never wore. Lommy didn’t dare mock the Bull. He was older, and big for his age, with a broad chest and strong-looking arms…
The Bull shouted, “Behind you,” and Arya spun. Hot Pie was on his knees, his fist closing around a big jagged rock…
Lommy Greenhands wasn’t even hurt, yet he stayed as far away from Arya as he could get. “Every time you look at him, he twitches,” the Bull told her as she walked beside his donkey.
Arya, A CLASH OF KINGS
Once they are together, Arya is always trying to be in the company of Gendry, she still doesn’t understand why she wants his company all the time, but she does…. And she is clearly attracted to him, but  since she is still so young, she again, doesn’t really understand why....
"She climbed to the roof and peeked down. Gendry was beating out a breastplate. When he worked, nothing existed for him but metal, bellows, fire. The hammer was like part of his arm. **She watched the play of muscles in his chest and listened to the steel music he made. He’s strong, she thought.”**
Gednry also, thinks Arya is beautiful and is also, always by her side. BTW, this is by far one of my favorite chapters in the books. Gendry loves being a smith and when he finds out there is a smithy close to the inn they are staying he invites Arya to go see it with him. She is the only one he shares any personal information or secret.
"Arya?" Gendry had followed her out. "Lady Smallwood said there's a smithy. Want to have a look?"
"If you want." She had nothing else to do.
In this conversation Gendry is sharing how he was going to make his first sword. He telling something to Arya that he propably told no one else. He is playfull with her, pinches her face, calls her pretty. He is soooo smitten with her, ughhh, my fucking heart
"He won't remember me, but he used to come to our forge." The Smallwood forge had not been used in some time, though the smith had hung his tools neatly on the wall. Gendry lit a candle and set it on the anvil while he took down a pair of tongs. "My master always scolded him about his flaming swords. It was no way to treat good steel, he'd say, but this Thoros never used good steel. He'd just dip some cheap sword in wildfire and set it alight. It was only an alchemist's trick, my master said, but it scared the horses and some of the greener knights."
She screwed up her face, trying to remember if her father had ever talked about Thoros. "He isn't very priestly, is he?"
"No," Gendry admitted. "Master Mott said Thoros could outdrink even King Robert. They were pease in a pod, he told me, both gluttons and sots."
"You shouldn't call the king a sot." Maybe King Robert had drunk a lot, but he'd been her father's friend.
"I was talking about Thoros." Gendry reached out with the tongs as if to pinch her face, but Arya swatted them away. "He liked feasts and tourneys, that was why King Robert was so fond of him. And this Thoros was brave. When the walls of Pyke crashed down, he was the first through the breach. He fought with one of his flaming swords, setting ironmen afire with every slash."
"I wish I had a flaming sword." Arya could think of lots of people she'd like to set on fire.
"It's only a trick, I told you. The wildfire ruins the steel. My master sold Thoros a new sword after every tourney. Every time they would have a fight about the price." Gendry hung the tongs back up and took down the heavy hammer. "Master Mott said it was time I made my first longsword. He gave me a sweet piece of steel, and I knew just how I wanted to shape the blade. Only Yoren came, and took me away for the Night's Watch."
“You can still make swords if you want,” said Arya. “You can make them for my brother Robb when we get to Riverrun.”
“Riverrun.”** Gendry put the hammer down and looked at her. “You look different now. Like a proper little girl.” “I look like an oak tree, with all these stupid acorns.”
Part of the reason Gendry doesn’t like the idea to go to Riverrun and serve Robb Stark  is because once he does that, their magical moments together will be gone. You see it, as long as they stay hidden on the roads of Westeros together, there is a tiny part of Gendry that can dream of being with Arya, they are just  dirty kids running away from the Lannisters together; once they are reunited with King Robb and Lady Stark, Arya, of course will retake  her position of a high born Lady and he will be just a bastard boy serving House Stark. Sometimes reality is just too painful.
“Nice, though. A nice oak tree.” He stepped closer, and sniffed at her. “You even smell nice for a change.”
“You don’t. You stink.” Arya shoved him back against the anvil and made to run, but Gendry caught her arm. She stuck a foot between his legs and tripped him, but he yanked her down with him, and they rolled across the floor of the smithy. He was very strong, but she was quicker. Every time he tried to hold her still she wriggled free and punched him. Gendry only laughed at the blows, which made her mad. He finally caught both her wrists in one hand and started to tickle her with the other, so Arya slammed her knee between his legs, and wrenched free. Both of them were covered in dirt, and one sleeve was tom. on her stupid acorn dress. “I bet I don’t look so nice now,” she shouted.
Gendry is always described as a serious and grumpy boy, the only momments he seems relaxed and happy is when he is with Arya. Look at the way he talks to Arya about his art of making swords, he was sharing a very special thought with her and he will do this with only her. He is falling for her, but she is a Highborn Lady and he is a bastard and he knows what this means.
Tom was singing when they returned to the hall.
My featherbed is deep and soft, and there I’ll lay you down,
I’ll dress you all in yellow silk, and on your head a crown.
For you shall be my lady love, and I shall be your lord.
I’ll always keep you warm and safe, and guard you with my sword.
Pay attention to those lyrics, “I will dress you in yellow silk”.. yellow is the colour of House Baratheon … and on your head a crown… you all know that Arya is going to be a queen, you have been warned by me, lol. “For you shall be my lady love, and I shall be your lord. I’ll always keep you warm and safe, and guard you with my sword.” This is a love declaration…
Harwin took one look at them and burst out laughing, and Anguy smiled one of his stupid freckly smiles and said, “Are we certain this one is a highborn lady?” But Lem Lemoncloak gave Gendry a clout alongside the head. “You want to fight, fight with me! She’s a girl, and half your age! You keep your hands off o’ her, you hear me?” “I started it” said Arya. “Gendry was just talking.” “Leave the boy, Lem,” said Harwin. “Arya did start it, I have no doubt. She was much the same at Winterfell.”
Tom winked at her as he sang:
And how she smiled and how she laughed, the maiden of the tree.
She spun away and said to him, no featherbed for me.
I’ll wear a gown of golden leaves, and bind my hair with grass,
But you can be my forest love, and me your forest lass.
In the second verse of the song, the lady accepts the love of the Lord, but refuses his proposal “She spun away and said to him, no featherbed for me.” But you can be my forest love, and me your forest lass.
I think that George was trying to tells us, that even tho Arya desires love, she may not desire marriage. Her hungry for independence may be stronger. I hope I am wrong, I would like to see them getting married.
Gendry was actually very jealous of Arya friendship with Ned Dayne.
Poor Ned seemed to grow more miserable with every mile. “When I wear my helm, the rain beats against the steel and gives me headaches,” he complained. “But when I take it off, my hair gets soaked and sticks to my face and in my mouth.”
“You have a knife,” Gendry suggested. “If your hair annoys you so much, shave your bloody head.”
He doesn’t like Ned. The squire seemed nice enough to Arya; maybe a little shy, but good- natured…
“You have a House?” That was stupid; he was a squire, of course he had a House. “Who are you?”
“My lady?” Ned looked embarrassed. “I’m Edric Dayne, the… the Lord of Starfall.”
Behind them, Gendry groaned. “Lords and ladies,” he proclaimed in a disgusted tone. Arya plucked a withered crabapple off a passing branch and whipped it at him, bouncing it off his thick bull head. “Ow,” he said. “That hurt.” He felt the skin above his eye. “What kind of lady throws crabapples at people?”
“The bad kind,” said Arya, suddenly contrite. She turned back to Ned. “I’m sorry I didn’t know who you were. My lord” …
Just like Arya is also very much jealous of Bella:
Then maybe I’ll go find that black-haired girl and ring her bell for her.”
“But…”
“I said, go away. M’lady.”
Arya whirled and left him there. A stupid bullheaded bastard boy, that’s all he is. He could ring all the bells he wanted, it was nothing to her.
BTW, just like in the tv show Gendry decided to join Jon Snow and serve him, I believe the same will happen in the books. The last time Gendry and Arys talked in the books Arya was mad at him because he decided to join the brotherhood and not go to Riverrun to serve Rob.
I think Gendry regrets this decision and wishes to make it right with Arya, not to mention, Jon will be the last chance he will have to reconnect with Arya. I have no doubt they will reunite in the books too.
There is so much more about them in the books, this is just a tiny piece. I can easily say they are one of my favorite couples of this story. I love, love love them and will write more about them for sure. I hope Gendry survives season 8, his death would break my heart!!!
BTW - Imiss writing metas and I miss tumblr, life has been crazy these past months, but I will be here for sure for season 8!!!
What prophecies do you think will play out on the show? What will be the outcome and which character will the prophecy be about?
Hey, nonnie!
Hmmm … very interesting question. And a multi-layered one.
Of course the show will have to pay-off the prophecies it included from the books. Then there are prophecies that were not mentioned in the show but by the nature of revealing the endgame and by being ahead of the books, the show will either pay them off or at least give heavy hints for what they might be in the books. And then there are foreshadowing elements that aren’t really prophecies per se but serve a similar purpose in the narrative.
So let’s get started. Warning: this will get long.
Prophecies mentioned in the show
Azor Ahai
Melisandre: After the long summer, the darkness will fall heavy on the world. Stars will bleed. The cold breath of winter will freeze the seas and the Dead shall rise in the North. In the ancient books it’s written that a warrior shall draw a burning sword from the fire and that sword shall be Lightbringer.
This is very much in play, having been mentioned as recently as season 7 and I believe that by the end of season 8 we will have a definitive answer as to who and what Azor Ahai is.
I’ve talked about this before in this post. Here is an excerpt:
I think it’s far more likely that Azor Ahai is not a hero. He’s a villain and the elemental opposite to the Night King.  R'hllor followers herald Azor Ahai’s second coming with such encouraging words as: “ he will bring an eternal summer” which sounds great if you worship fire but in reality an eternal summer is about as bad as an eternal winter. If the WWs unbalance the world by plunging it into night and winter, Azor Ahai is supposed not to bring balance back but to unbalance it in the opposite direction.
Considering the placement of Azor Ahai in complete opposition to the WW and the obsession with fire of the followers of R’hllor, I’d say that the best candidate for this position is one D*enerys Targareyen, which doesn’t sound surprising since many people theorize the same. The twist is that AA was never meant to be a hero but rather an antagonist. @trinuviel has a fantastic series regarding this topic and I would encourage you to read it. She goes into a lot more detail than I am able to provide.
One aspect of this prophecy that is not brought up in the show is Nissa Nissa:
To fight the darkness, Azor Ahai needed to forge a hero’s sword. He labored for thirty days and thirty nights until it was done. However, when he went to temper it in water, the sword broke. He was not one to give up easily, so he started over.
The second time he took fifty days and fifty nights to make the sword, even better than the first. To temper it this time, he captured a lion and drove the sword into its heart, but once more the steel shattered.
The third time, with a heavy heart, for he knew beforehand what he must do to finish the blade, he worked for a hundred days and nights until it was finished. This time, he called for his wife, Nissa Nissa, and asked her to bare her breast. He drove his sword into her living heart, her soul combining with the steel of the sword, creating Lightbringer, the Red Sword of Heroes.
People have been speculating for years on who might be the Nissa Nissa in the story but because this isn’t mentioned in the show, I’m not really sure this will be paid off. However, considering Melisandre’s obsession with blood magic and human sacrifice, I think there’s a possibility that a candidate will arise. And in my opinion, that would probably be Mel herself. She foretold her own death in season 7 and because of the nature of her arc, the relation to fire, blood and magic I can see her as a willing human sacrifice for the glory of the prophesied hero.
However, since I don’t think she is interpreting the prophecy of Azor Ahai correctly and that AA is probably not the person that will end the Long Night, I don’t think this human sacrifice in the form of Nissa Nissa 2.0 will have an effect or at least not the desired one.
In the comments section of the post I linked above, @trinuviel brought forth the idea that the story of Nissa Nissa and Lightbringer is a metaphorical set of instructions on how to forge Valyrian steel. And I have to say that’s a very intriguing idea and one that sounds very plausible to me for several reasons:
1. Valyrian steel swords are already magical swords and we know they are effective against the WWs. What could a burning sword do that these other swords can’t?
2. The Valyrians were known to practice blood magic and it’s theorized that’s where the source of most of their power came from, including their bond with dragons.
3. GRRM has purposefully pointed to the mystery surrounding the forging of Valyrian steel in story several times. There must be a pretty big reason why he hasn’t revealed how these swords are forged.
The Younger More Beautiful Queen
Maggy the Frog: Oh, yes! You’ll be queen … For a time. Then comes another. Younger. More beautiful. To cast you down and take all you hold dear.
I believe the last time Cersei mentioned her encounter with Maggy the Frog was after Myrcella was killed. So this will be paid off in season 8.
I’ve made the argument in the past that Sansa is the younger, more beautiful queen that will cast Cersei down and take all that she holds dear:
Sansa has been intimately involved in all of Cersei’s tragedies even though she is not directly responsible. She was the one that carried the poison that killed Jofferey, the war with her brother is the reason why Myrcella was sent to Dorne, Jofferey’s death leads to Tommen becoming king and eventually killing himself. And, by the end of this series, Sansa might end up as queen of the Seven Kingdoms effectively replacing Cersei.
It isn’t that Sansa is directly responsible for what happens to Cersei but that she ends up taking everything from her in a way that no one could have predicted unless you look back at the events.
There is an aspect of this prophecy that isn’t mentioned but I think will be paid off as well:
And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.
I honestly have no idea why they chose not to include this in the show since it’s part of the same conversation as the younger, more beautiful queen. They might bring it up in season 8 through another flash-back and I think that they should. Either way, I’m pretty sure we will find out who the valonqar is.
I’ve made an argument for Jaime because I think it will be a fitting end to their story and because of what Cersei told Ned about her and Jaime back in season 1:
Cersei: Jaime and I are more than brother and sister. We shared a womb. We came into this world together. We belong together.
And by that logic … they will die together. Or at least one will be the end to the other.
The Prince that was Promised
Melisandre: You should kneel before your brother. He’s the lord’s chosen. Born amidst salt and smoke.
This is a dicey one because it’s only brought up by Mel as an interchangeable title for Azor Ahai.
In the books, however, the PTWP is also brought up in relation to Rhaegar and his prophecy fulfilling quest. When D*ny visits the House of the Undying, she has a vision of her brother holding his infant son, Aegon, by Elia Martell and saying this:
Rhaegar: Aegon. What better name for a king?
Elia: Will you make a song for him?
Rhaegar: He has a song. He is the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire.
From what we know at this time, Rhaegar never brings up the Azor Ahai prophecy and we don’t know that much about the PTWP. But I tend to think these two aren’t related.
I believe the PTWP is Jon. His is the only story that is linked to both fire and ice. He is the literal product of the song of ice and fire (the son of a Targareyen and a Stark) and his story is connected to both ice and fire through out. He fights against Ice in the form of the White Walkers and he encounters both the false Azor Ahai (Stannis) and now D*ny, who is the person associated the most with fire in the series. If the Dance of Dragons 2.0 and dark D*ny theories become canon, his song of ice and fire would be his titular role in both these great wars that are about to visit Westeros. He also has “salt and smoke” imagery associated with his death (and subsequent resurrection).
So I tend to see the PTWP and AA as actually being ultimate adversaries.
What I’m doubting at the moment is whether or not the show will bother differentiating between these two. I do think that by confirming Dark D*ny and the Dance of Dragons 2.0, they will essentially pay off this prophecy but I’m not sure they’ll signal the distinction.
That’s about it on the show-included prophecies, I think.
Prophecies not mentioned in the show
The Last Hero
Legends of the north state the last hero and his companions went in search of the children of the forest during the Long Night, thousands of years ago. The only survivor of the company after attacks from giants, wights, and Others, the last hero eventually reached the children and gained their assistance. The Night’s Watch then formed and won the Battle for the Dawn. This ended the generation-long winter and sent the Others into retreat, possibly to the Land of Always Winter. The fate of the last hero is unknown
One could make an argument that this is not a prophecy but rather a story but because the Battle for the Dawn 2.0 is fast approaching, this story/prophecy will most likely be paid off in season 8.
If anyone is destined to be the hero to save the world from the Long Night that character is Bran Stark and his story is linked to the legend of the Last Hero, who is also identified as Bran the Builder. This connection is not fully established yet but I believe the characters of the Last Hero and Bran the Builder to be one and the same.
Bran is the Three Eyed Raven, he’s traveled to the Lands of Always Winter and reached the children of the forest. That’s enough evidence for me to assume that his role in season 8 and the defeat of the WWs will pay off the Legend of the Last Hero. Incidentally, Bran the Builder is mentioned in relation to our Bran by Maester Luwin in season 1.
We might also get a pay off for how the Wall and Winterfell were actually built although I do think part of this story will remain a mystery that will most likely be tackled in the Long Night prequel.
D*ny’s prophecies in the House of the Undying
… mother of dragons, daughter of death …
… mother of dragons, slayer of lies …
… mother of dragons, bride of fire …
Essentially, I believe all of these will be paid off by the Dark D*ny reveal.
three fires must you light… one for life and one for death and one to love… three mounts must you ride… one to bed and one to dread and one to love… three treasons will you know… once for blood and once for gold and once for love…
I think it was a huge mistake for the show not to include the 3 treasons prophecy in D*ny’s storyline, particularly since they included Cersei’s Younger More Beautiful Queen one. Because the three treasons prophecy works on D*ny’s psyche much in the same way it does on Cersei’s.
They both become increasingly paranoid and obsessed with these ominous predictions and are actively on the look-out for potential candidates.
However I think the pol!jon reveal will resolve the 3rd treason aspect of the prophecy as well as this:
A blue flower growing from a chink in a wall of ice, filling the air with sweetness.
A great stone beast takes wing from a smoking tower, breathing shadows.
Between the parentage reveal and Political Jon, her lover turned nephew, Jon Snow, will turn from the flower that fills the air with sweetness into the great stone beast that will oppose her.
There’s also a case to be made that the three treasons are actually treasons D*ny commits against other people, as @thelawyerthatwaspromised has detailed on her blog. And by going to war with Jon and potentially turning her back on the fight with the WWs, D*ny would essentially become a betrayer.
So either way, I think we’ll have a much clearer picture of these prophecies by the end of the show.
The dragon must have three heads
This is the continuation of the Rhaegar vision D*ny sees in the House of the Undying.
Rhaegar: He has a song. He is the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire. There must be one more. The dragon has three heads.
We don’t know much of anything about what this means or how Rhaegar thought it would link to the PTWP prophecy. I wouldn’t have included it, to be honest, if it wasn’t for the Crypts of Winterfell teaser and the staging of Jon/Arya/Sansa as a play on the original three heads of the dragon Aegon/Visenya/Rhaenys. In a previous post I said this:
The “Dragon must have 3 heads” is generally considered the reason why Rhaegar started his relationship with Lyanna and the main reason why Jon was even born. Details on this prophecy are foggy but the theory goes that at some point Rhaegar became convinced that his three children would be instrumental in saving the world and because Elia Martell was unable to bare another child after her two pregnancies, he went after teenage Lyanna Stark, thus looking to fulfill yet another prophecy: that of the Prince that was Promised whose song is the song of ice and fire.
In trying to fulfill it, Rhaegar named his children after the 3 original Targs that conquered Westeros: Elia gave him an Aegon and a Rhaenys so he went in search of his Visenya. Clearly he failed, because instead of a girl, he got a boy.
However, as GRRM points out through out his story, prophecies are tricky and the more you go out of your way to fulfill them, the more blunders you’re bound to commit. That doesn’t mean there isn’t some value to it but it will most likely come to pass in a way that you did not expect.
It makes you wonder just what the “3 heads of the dragon” might actually be about. Everyone tends to think that this prophecy is linked to the war with the WWs. However, by introducing Sansa into the mix, it changes things a bit …
What if the “Dragon must have 3 heads” prophecy isn’t related to the War of the Dawn at all but rather to the Dance of Dragons 2.0? Because in that war, Sansa would truly be instrumental: by making Jon a Stark, because of her political expertise and her strategic connections all over Westeros. So instead of creating the ultimate Targ team to face off against the apocalypse, Rhaegar not only brought down his father’s dynasty and his own in Robert’s rebellion but also created the circumstances by which, years later, his son would face off against the last scion of House Targareyen and bring about the demise of all living dragons.
While this could simply remain something that will be inferred by the way season 8 plays out, I think there’s a case to be made that we will actually get more insight here via flash-backs of Rhaegar/Lyanna.
I think it’s also possible that through these flashbacks we will find out more about the situation surrounding the abduction of Lyanna, more insight into the year they spent in the Tower of Joy and even perhaps the name that Rhaegar whispered as he lay dying on the Trident.
The Lannister gold prophecy
The wealth of the westerlands was matched, in ancient times, with the hunger of the Freehold of Valyria for precious metals, yet there seems no evidence that the dragonlords ever made contact with the lords of the Rock, Casterly or Lannister. Septon Barth speculated on the matter, referring to a Valyrian text that has since been lost, suggesting that the Freehold’s sorcerers foretold that the gold of Casterly Rock would destroy them.
This is a very obscure prophecy and I haven’t seen many people discuss it. The few that I have seen talk about this link it to the Lannister’s long lost Valyrian steel sword, Brightroar. The Valyrians, fearing this prophecy Septon Barth mentions, always refused to sell the Lannisters a sword but they managed to get their hands on one by other means:
Brightroar came into the possession of the Lannister kings in the century before the Doom of Valyria, and it is said that the weight of gold they paid for it would have been enough to raise an army.
So people speculate that it was the purchasing of this sword that lead up to the Doom of Valyria. However, I don’t really see this as a possibility because GRRM never really plays prophecies this straight.
However, one thing we do know is going to happen in season 8 is that Cersei will be acquiring the Golden Company, whose banner is simple golden cloth. She will also be paying for it with what can be described as Lannister gold.
Also since the show didn’t include the Young Griff story line, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that the GC is leaded by Jon Connington, one of Rhaegar’s best buddies and also the guy who was in love with him.
So if let’s say the GC would decide to join Jon’s forces against D*ny during the Dance of Dragons, a case can be made that Lannister Gold did in fact bring about the ultimate doom of Valyria, by killing off its last real member and putting an end to the dragons.
Then there are a few prophecies that I believe have already been paid off.
The mummer’s dragon
A cloth dragon sways on poles amidst a cheering crowd.
By essentially removing the Young Griff from the story line completely, I think the show has revealed that this young man is not Aegon Targareyen but a pretender whose lie, and life, D*ny will slay in the books.
The girl in grey prophecy
I have seen your sister in my fires, fleeing from this marriage they have made for her. Coming here, to you. A girl in grey on a dying horse, I have seen it plain as day. It has not happened yet, but it will.
I think everyone in the Jonsa fandom can agree that the girl in grey is in effect Sansa Stark and she will flee her marriage to Harry Hardyng and join Jon at the wall.
The show had Sansa fleeing her marriage to Ramsay and reaching the wall where she was reunited with a recently resurrected Jon. She was also wearing grey which is I think the show’s way of linking back to this prophecy in the books.
The Ghost of High Heart prophecies
In case anyone is not familiar with who the Ghost of High Heart is, she’s a dwarfish, albino woman who was reputed to be a woods witch in the Riverlands. Arya and the brotherhood without banners camp overnight at High Heart, to meet with the ghost to hear her tell the future, and to learn the whereabouts of Beric.
She accurately predicts a few things that have happened in both books and show. In addition, there are also these:
I dreamt of a man without a face, waiting on a bridge that swayed and swung
In the books, this is Euron hiring a Faceless Man (and potentially paying for his services with a dragon egg) to kill his brother, Balon Greyjoy, the King of the Iron Islands. In the show Euron does the deed himself, on a bridge that swayed and swung.
I dreamt of a maid at a feast with purple serpents in her hair, venom dripping from their fangs. And later I dreamt that maid again, slaying a savage giant in a castle built of snow.
This is generally believed to be about Sansa because of the poisoned hairnet she wears in her hair that eventually kills Jofferey. I’d argue that by ordering the death of Littlefinger in Winterfell (a castle in the North where there’s a lot of snow), the show has paid off the later part of this prophecy.
She also says this directly to Arya:
I see you. I see you, wolf child. Blood child. I thought it was the lord who smelled of death … You are cruel to come to my hill, cruel. I gorged on grief at Summerhall, I need none of yours. Begone from here, dark heart. Begone!
This could be nothing but the woman noticing Arya’s increasing violence and tendency towards killing but because she mentions Summerhall it’s speculated that she is referring to a future and particularly bloody event Arya will participate in. Assuming that, I would say the show has already paid that off when Arya killed off all the Freys in an act of mass murder.
This is a bit dubious, though, because of the fact that Lady Stoneheart has been cut from the show. It’s likely that it will be LS that kills off the Freys in the books and the show simply gave that particular plot point to Arya.
That doesn’t eliminate the possibility that the Ghost of High Heart is potentially referring to a future Summerhall-like event Arya will be involved in and if that is the case I fully expect the show to include it.
And finally we have what are essentially sayings that are mentioned frequently in the show but because of their implications they act like prophecy in the sense that they foreshadow future events but not in a clear cut way.
The Long Night
Melisandre: For the night is dark and full of terrors.
This is pretty self-explanatory. We’ve been told that when the WWs first came 8000 years ago, they brought a night and a winter that lasted a generation. So the WWs are back at it and are going to bring darkness and terror.
We should start preparing ourselves for at least 3 episodes of almost exclusive night time scenes. This is also supported by the actors saying that they had about 40 days worth of night time shootings which is an incredibly long time for that sort of thing.
When a Targeryen is born, the Gods flip a coin
This is obviously a saying that came about in reference to the Targeryens being or going mad more often than not.
However, at this point in the story, we have only two Targeryens left so the duality of a coin flip becomes foreshadowing for Jon and D*ny as foils.
I wish you good fortunes in the wars to come
This has only been uttered in show by adversaries, first in the Stannis/Mance conversation prior to Mance being burned alive and then in the Ned/Arthur Dane flashback. The third instance is in the Jon/D*ny good-bye scene. I don’t know about anyone else but this indicated to me … Dance of Dragons 2.0.
Sansa’s red comet prediction
The morning of King Joffrey’s name day dawned bright and windy, with the long tail of the great comet visible through the high scuttling clouds. Sansa was watching it from her tower window when Ser Arys Oakheart arrived to escort her down to the tourney grounds. “What do you think it means?” she asked him.
“Glory to your betrothed,” Ser Arys answered at once. “See how it flames across the sky today on His Grace’s name day, as if the gods themselves had raised a banner in his honor. The smallfolk have named it King Joffrey’s Comet.”
Doubtless that was what they told Joffrey; Sansa was not so sure. “I’ve heard servants calling it the Dragon’s Tail.”
“King Joffrey sits where Aegon the Dragon once sat, in the castle built by his son,” Ser Arys said. “He is the dragon’s heir - and crimson is the color of House Lannister, another sign. This comet is sent to herald Joffrey’s ascent to the throne, I have no doubt. It means that he will triumph over his enemies.”
Yeah, Jofferey wasn’t and he didn’t. If only there was a guy in this story who was the dragon’s heir and whose birth name the show incidentally spoiled as being Aegon. Glory to that guy! And to his queen!
Suffice it to say I think we will get the pay off from this scene in the form of Jonsa.
Just a small addendum before I finish: A Song of Ice and Fire is littered with prophecies, prophetic dreams, cryptic messages that can be interpreted to signal future events, etc. I probably missed a lot of them. So if there’s something you want to add here please do.
Thanks for the ask, nonnie!
I used to ship j0nerys until s7 happened then it all ended the moment jon says”I wish you good fourtune in the wars to come” like daaamm boi that was colder than the winter winds lol so after rewatching all of the seasons I got to s6 again&i was like wtf how did I miss jonsa then I checked out both tags&I was so intrigued by the depth of all the jonsa metas all the signs I missed in the show&books(good j0nerys metas are nonexistent)I have to be anon as I fear the J/D ignorance I will receive lol
The whole season was off tbh. I mean the intro b/w the two wasnt toooo bad (they couldve set it up friends to enemies to lovers trope) but everything after that was so go damn cringe worthy
and its little things like that!!! I mean they know how to do romance (and romance in a short time frame; Talisa and Robb anyone???) Plus, the only time that specific line is said like that in the show (theres between ned and arthur, mance and baratheon) is between two enemies (and one ends up dying by the hands of the other too) like how is that not forshadowing????? the fact that he always looks constipated around her, fidgity, wanting to BLATANLY gtfo, never opens up to her (though she tries to open up to him i guess? I see her crush on him, emilia’s eyes are very expressive that way, but d e f not both ways) no real smiles, bonding, jokes, talks, passion (boatfail lmao) a good first kiss, literally anything that makes a romance, well romantic
plus, personality wise, theyre not compatiable at ALL. as danys journey goes on, she’s slowly morphing into everything she never wanted to be. blinded by power (that isnt even hers for the taking). If she had a good heart why didnt she just go to help  w the night king (who is a direct threat to people she SAYS she wants to rule and has the best intent for) and deal with all the political stuff after? Cersei would still be there. When Jon had first arrived, she’d still have her alliances to go back to. Plus when he first came she hadnt gained any territory yet either. Why did she say shed only help if he agreed to her demand of subservience??? from a strictly strategical point of view, thats kinda dumb. its comeplely uneccasary from him to bend the knee for her to help. she wouldnt lose anything. in fact, if anything PR wise that wouldve been a great move for, to elimate the threat to literally everyones entire existance, claim victory in the name of westeros as the HERO of westeros, not the foreign conqoureror, and position her self as the champion of the people (compared to cersei) in the name of the people. making bending the knee a requirement for her to help was extremely unnecessary and in the end detrimental. I mean now she has nothing to go to the north in her favor for. If she went before that she’d be the benevalant queen coming to help their king bc she cared about people, and after they were triumphant he could bend the knee and i doubt anyone would complain too much once they saw that she went into the fight w/o ulterior motives etc
And anyways, how is a one sided, psuedo-subserviant relationship not toxic? How is that a relationship to look up to? What kind of role model relationship is that? a freaking bad one I dear say
and yes, the lack of metas always astounded me, even when i shipped them. I mean liked them originally bc of all the “parallels” and stuff but the more i analyzed them, it became clear that they were f o i l s, not parrallels.
 I actually stumbled on jonsa by accident. As i slowly became to like Dany’s complex character not as an anti-hero figure, but as the “villian of the other side” or the accidental villian trope, it was around the time i was appreciating sansa more and more. She’s vastly underrated and underestimated both in the show and by fans outside of it, capable and smart.
The thing that struck me most out of s7 was the spoils of war episode, which focused heavily, as a minor detail, on food. At first Daenerys was complaining that she had nothing to feed her extremely large army, that Cersei was already mobolizing all the food in the reach for her own favor. Then we have cersei bragging how she’s taking all the food, basically to fortify the capital and also making it so Dany wouldnt have any, that she could starve them out so to speak. Then we have Sansa, orginizing a way that she could insure the houses under her control had enough food for themselves, but also asking them to send a fair amount to her, so when things hit the fan, these houses and the pople of the north could flee to winterfell, the largest and strongest northern base, and they’d have enough food to feed everyone already living there plus the influx of refugees despite the extremely harsh winter approaching. Then of course, we have Dany’s feild of fire 2.0 where she first went after the soldiers, then deliberately targeting the food meant to feed the people of westeros during the winter (and the food she jsut complained about needing), then back to the soldiers.
Out of all the potential queens, I made my choice there.
Jonsa snuck up on me. I so much loved their relationship in s6, it was so beautiful, the bonding, the reunion, the support of one other. I liked that they argued over legitimate differences, before settling on a choice. I read a few jonsa metas then, and at that point i was pretty much okay with either option, but once s7 came i completly and fully jumped ship so to speak. I re analyzed my take on dany, my opinion on jon’s characterization, and reaffirmed my love for sansa. I read more jonsa metas and coupled with such a warm fandom that jonsa has (we can actually debate diff point of views respectfully for one, we support each other for two - kinda like jon and sansa’s relationship lmao) alas was hooked!
Im sorry for the fear of coming off anon :/ for a while I kept my mouth shut too, and when i finally went more public I got some similar treatment so I entirely understand
Season Seven Opener : DRAGONSTONE
Because I love visuals so much, I have rarely voiced any opinions about the show or the books on this blog. I have always wanted to avoid ~discourse, and honestly, I just love gifsets and pictures so much. However, this season I have decided that since I have an active blog I would like to talk a little bit about my feelings on each episode for what that’s worth.
So if you would like my thoughts on the season opener, it’s below the cut!
First let me just say that yes I have read and adore the books. But in my mind, they are  almost two different stories, and I value each of them for different reasons, so I am not going to spend a lot of time talking about the differences or comparing them to one another.
That said, let’s dive on in!
Overall Score : 8/10
What I Liked :
I loved the opening scene. I know a lot of people don’t care for the logistics of how this happened both in the finale of season 6 and I am assuming in the opening scene as well, but I am livinnnnngggg for Arya’s revenge.
LYANNA MORMONT CONTINUES TO SLAY. I love her as a character, I literally get excited whenever I see her on screen. She really epitomizes being a northerner for me and she’s just 12/10.
Ed Sheeran! We knew he would be appearing and I think they did a great job of sliding him in there. That whole scene was completely brilliant and serves as a great reminder that the Game of Thrones is really hurting most of the common people. Plus, we get to see how human the Lannister army is and how rich they are are at least still portraying themselves to be because the armour was so high quality.
Jorah inquiring about Daenerys was a really nice touch, and obviously we are supposed to make some connections between curing greyscale and the dragonglass that is so abundant on Dragonstone.
THE GIANT WHITE WALKER! Whenever I see the white walkers I get goosebumps! So that scene where they are just marching toward the wall right after that huge Arya scene - I was practically all goosebumps. I cant wait for the battle scenes we will be treated to later in the season.
I enjoyed seeing Bran and Meera. I think Brans may be some of the most interesting scenes this season which I am very excited for.
I love those dragon statues outside of Dragonstone. it felt so good for me to see Daenerys in the place she was born. I don’t believe she was born to rule the seven kingdoms, but she was born a Targaryen, and it feels good to see her at her family seat.
What I Didn’t Like:
Why did they spend three precious minutes on Sam emptying chamber pots?? We get it - he’s unhappy. And why does Gilly get to stay with him? I know logic is not this shows strong point, but I just could have done without most of the Sam content in this episode.
I hate that Arya is headed to Kings Landing. Like most people in the world, I am desperate for the remaining Starks to make it back to one another. I don’t think Arya will be successful at killing Cersei so I really hate that she’s being wasted again when we just got her out of a huge plot suck in Braavos. She specifically mentioned she was going home - did she just mean Westeros? Surely by now she would know the Starks had taken back Winterfell, why would she not at least stop there before making the revenge journey?
To be honest, I am losing interest in Jon really fast. I was VERY put off when Jon just assumed the KITN position over Sansa, whose I believe it rightfully is, but I was willing to overlook it because I have been so invested in his character. I get that he has actual leadership experience and I get that he is a male, and I get he is a battle hero, but honestly Sansa has been nothing but right in my opinion. Maybe I’m biased towards her? He literally says “be smarter by listening to you?” and I’m screaming at the TV “YEEEEEEESSSSSSS”. The thing about Sansa that makes her such an asset is that she really does personally know most of the players in the game and she knows them well. Not to mention she has literally spent the entire series learning from her mistakes and learning to play the game. Jon doesn’t know how to play the game and he doesn’t even realize it. Anyway, the least he could have done when Sansa disagreed (and the room supported her) was say “okay, ill take it under consideration and decide at another time”, even if he wasn’t really going to. I know thats not good TV but, that is way more respectful to his sister. And then to turn around and say she is undermining him. I don’t know I could go on and on about this situation, but to me it’s so toxic and it actually makes me root for Littlefinger which is just ...wow.
I just felt like the scene with the hound was a little too long. I could have gotten the same idea in way less dark screen time. I’m all about his redemption journey I just felt like it was a long scene.
What I am hoping for next week:
I would be really bummed if Arya spent all this time in the Riverlands and didn’t even catch a glimpse of Nymeria. I would love for the wolves to be a bigger part of the show, but I get that most of them are dead now so :/
I think we all hope to see Gendry at some point!
I am actually hoping Jon leaves the North sooner than later now because idk I think once he’s out there on his own trying to negotiate with these people he’ll realize what an asset Sansa is.
If you made it this far, thanks so much for reading! if you’d like to discuss any of these things my inbox is always open! I only ask that you respect my opinions because I will certainly respect yours!
Enjoy your week and I’ll post another one of these after Episode Two!
I think one of the biggest misassumptions about GoT is that 'Sansa never loved Jon'. Sansa wasn't as close to Jon as Arya and Robb were, we know that but that doesn't mean she didn't love him. Although she called him half brother, he's still a brother to her and she loved him, just not as openly as the others. I hate it when people say she never loved him
Anon Hi!  First thank you for this ask ( I love getting Got/Asoiaf messages.. please keep them coming!).
Second, yes I agree. Sansa didnt hate Jon, but she was not close to him. Their relatioship was at best,i would say, “dutiful”. They cared for one another because they had to,not because they were close (like jon and ar*a.)
(that make the marriage for duty a possibility too. They  had to co-exist as half-siblings, they can  learn to love each other as husband and wife. Its the reason why i think ar*a and jon could never work as a couple,  if its a marriage of duty, and we know how Grrm loves those: see Ned and Cat).
Plus as much as I love Sansa, Grrm stated (and its clear in the text) that she was created to build conflict in the stark family. Of course it doesnt mean she hates the starks, it just mean she wanted out. Sansa wanted the south, with the turneys, the knights and kings landing after dark. She prayed to the Seven and not the old gods, because she find them more pretty and less dull. She lost her wolf. These are important events that shaped who Sansa is.
These reasons are what makes Sansa SO RELATABLE (to me at least..). She is the impersonification of the saying “you dont understand how important a thing is until you lost it”. She wanted to go away from home, she didnt love the north, Winterfell.
 And NOW, well now she dreams of return to her roots, to re-create that home she lost. To name her future children like the brothers (and sister) that she has lost. Thats what makes Sansa such a good, interesting character. She doesnt start with a  mature personality (like Dany, or Tyrion, Bran or Arya who are great characters of course) she was a naive and spoiled child who regrets her choices and tries to survive with her self and her mistakes.
Sansa is a character who changes the MOST in the books. Not only from the first book when Ned dies, but even from  “A storm of swords” to “ A feast for crows” when we  see how she changes her mind about being a bastard, how she starts to understand how a bastard lives:
“Lysa will not come alone. Before she arrives, we must be clear on who you are.”
“Who I… I don’t understand.”
“Varys has informers everywhere. If Sansa Stark should be seen in the Vale, the eunuch will know within a moon’s turn, and that would create unfortunate… complications. It is not safe to be a Stark just now. So we shall tell Lysa’s people that you are my natural daughter.”
“Natural?” Sansa was aghast. “You mean, a bastard?”  - Sansa (A storm of swords”
Here Sansa is upset about the possibility of being a bastard, she considers it  a disgrace (we are talking about a girl who was a lady at three, who since she was born has accepted the rules of Westeros culture). But then in a “Feast for crows”
“Sansa Stark went up the mountain, but Alayne Stone is coming down … Alayne was an older woman, and bastard brave.”-  Sansa ( A feast for crows)
Sansa (only a few charapters later) thinks that a bastard is brave.
I love the dinamic of Jon/Sansa ( even as not romantic) because  for me Jon starts the book, with the same mentality as Sansa even though they are at the total opposite Social status. He wanted to prove himself, he wanted to go to the wall and be honorable, like his father Ned, just like Sansa wanted to be a perfect lady, do her duty like her mother Catelyn. But Sansa and Jon are at the opposite social position in Winterfell (the high lady, who is expected to become a queen, and a poor bastard who doesnt have a future).Still they have the same naive dreams of glory and greatness. Both think their life is like the song they loved as children ( look at these quotes…):
Jon: Daeron Targaryen was only fourteen when he conquered Dorne
.Benjen: A conquest that lasted a summer. Your Boy King lost ten thousand men taking the place, and another fifty trying to hold it. Someone should have told him that war isn’t a game- Jon snow I  “A game of thrones”
Jon idolized tragic heroes like Daeron, just like Sansaromanticizes life:
When the Knight of Flowers had spoken up, she’d been sure she was about to see one of Old Nan’s stories come to life…..
Lord Baelish stroked his little pointed beard and said, “Nothing? Tell me, child, why would you have sent Ser Loras?”Sansa had no choice but to explain about heroes and monsters. The king’s councillor smiled.
 "Well, those are not the reasons I’d have given, but … “ He had touched her cheek, his thumb lightly tracing the line of a cheekbone. ”Life is not a song, sweetling. You may learn that one day to your sorrow.“- Sansa III “A game of thrones”.
Both learn that lesson is a hard way. And Grrm is putting them in their respective shoes. Jon is learning the responsibility of being in high position as Lord commander, while Sansa is a bastard. Jon is offered Winterfell by stannis, while Sansa is accused by her aunt of being a beggar. Robb makes Jon is heir, putting him ahead of Sansa. This in not concidences, this is Grrm making Sansa understand what Jon endured all his life, and doing the same thing for Jon. They even have similar chapters in the books ( Sansa A feast for crows chapter when she is coming down the mountain, has parallels with jon chapter in a storm of swords when he climbs the wall. In fact in that case not only Jon is mentioned but she hears a ghost wolf, big as mountains….).
So in conclusion Jon and Sansa are not close but they respected one another presence and dont have a troubling relationship at all. Still how they journeys parallel one another is fascinating (even not for a romantic end.game, which is my guess if both survive …) and i cant wait for the reunion (that i can bet will be the first Stark reunion in the books..like its 1000000% sure).
WHY THE END OF GAME OF THRONES IS NOT WORKING FOR ME...
I told in some of my past metas that I wrote after the show was done, why the ending was so unsatisfying and I am going to try to explain why here in some point. I have to say, the fact it was so sad and heartbreaking is not really the reason. The Mists of Avalon was my go to novels in my teen years, its VERY sad and heartbreaking, yet it felt right by the end. It made sense.
This is not how I am feeling by the end of GAME OF THORNES and I am afraid to say, Its George RRM who is letting me down, not Benioff and Weiss. So lets start with the points that are making my head spin.
BRAN THE BROKEN KING
If accept Bran Stark as the final King of this story, I have to pretend I didnt read the past books A CLASH IF KINGS and a FEAST FOR CROWS, where we had very good contenders fighting for the Throne (Rob Stark, Renly Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon, Joffrey Baratheon, etc) Yes, some of tyhose men were not so good from a moral point of view, but they brought strength, militar support, militar and political alliances, legitime claims to the Throne...
I could go on and on and on. There is absolutely no reason for why would Yara Greyjoy would bend the knee to Brandon Stark and accept him as her leader and ruler; or the Prince of Dorne, or the Lords from the Westerlands. This choice is absolutely absurd and if you read the books you would know that picking a boy king, with no claim to the Throne or no powerful armies makes any sense at all. Not to mention, I really dislike the idea that humans are incapable to control their own emotions, and because of that we must pick a God like creature with no emotions.
Whe we add the fact Bran had hardly any experience ruling or leading people during the 7 years of this story, this pick gets evern mroe and mroe bizarre. I understand George wanted a surprising ending and he wanted to go against the expectations, but this choice is an utopia. I cant get behind this choice. I am sorry.
TYRION HAND OF THE KING
Again, do I have to pretend I didnt read the books and actually know that being a Kingslayer is a very terrible sin to carry on Westeros??? Tyrion is not a beloved figure in this story, even before he killed his own father, Tywin Lannister.
Tyrion decision to kill his father, not only started the downfall of House Lannister, it also made the entire region of the Westerlands political weaker and more vunerable to future attacks.He must be a very despised figure in the entire realm. Yet, he will be the secind person in charge of Westeros??
At this point I am at loss of words. I have no idea what George is planning with this.
JON KILLING DAENERYS AS A LOVER IS A TERRIBLE IDEA.
Awful, terrible, horrible idea. Any way you slice, this was a terrible idea to end such amazing novel. Its corny, outdated and down right dangerous, considering we live in a world where females are at risk of being murdered by their male partners all the time.
This is such underwhelming decision, in a sea of underwelming decisions that I am starting to think George was simply trying to make us all hate this ending.
We could have the realm raising in Rebelion against the Queen of Ashes; we could have second Dance of Dragons; We could have Arya using her underused super powers as a Faceless men to kill Daenerys.  No, we will have Jon Snow, still making excuses for Daenerys terrible behavior, begging her to start acting better???? telling her she will always be his queen while putitng a dagger into her heart!!!
Agian, this ending is coming from George himself. I cant really blame the D’s for this mess.
JON SNOW AND DAENERYS TARGARYEN ROMANCE WAS ANOTHER TERRIBLE IDEA.
Awful, terrible, horrible idea. Any way you slice, this was a terrible idea to end such amazing novel. If you dont believe Political Jon theory, than Jon Snow is just a completely fool, who fell in love with a tyrant, closed his eyes to all her terrible behavior and in the end was forced to kill the love of his life to save humanity. He is a idiot. and it breaks my heart this is how Jon will be remembered by audiences.  Some people keep on telling me. “Oh, by, I dont think this is how George will write him, I think its going to be much better” But I have to say, I dont think it will.
I do believe Jon was playing Dany in the beggining of their romance and was manipulating her in order to use her dragons and armies to save the North, but I also believe that once he finds out she is his family too, he started to became divided between his Targ and Stark familes. He is a family man in the end of the day and he must feel some sort of guilty for his actions towards D@ny.
I think that George will keep Political Jon hidden between the lines, just like the show did. He may write much betetr and be more obvious, but I dont think it will ever be revealed explicit to the audience.
Here is what I think George is trying to do with Jon. In one side we have Jon Snow trying his best to save the North and his family and doing wherever its takes to protect them, and doing not some nice things, like manipulating a woman and seducing her in order to save his realm; We also have the Rheagar son, who is in love with Sansa and who had prmoised to protect her no matter waht.
In the other side we have the Ned Stark son, who wants to keep his vows to D@ny and wants to fulfil his promise to her; wants to do his duty; We also have the family man, who is trying to see the best in this horrible tryant and fighting the idea of becoming a kinslayer. Ned Stark would be horrified to have to kill another Stark.
Thats why I believe Jon was so conflicted about killing D@ny in the end. But in the end, its just too much. Too fucking much. No, I dont want Jon Snow, after so many years, after so much pain and disaster to still be wondering if he must kill a tyrant to save his God damn family and people. FFS, I wanted Jon to kill D@ny like Jaime killed Aerys, with conviction that he was doing the right thing.
I wished Jon and Dany had been just allies and later becamed enemies. This would be a much better ending for both characters.
HIDDING THE POV’s AND THE CHARACTERS REAL MOTIVATIONS
You know this will happen in the books too and I am already dreading. Basically, does Jon believes D@ny is a terrible ruler and its scared of her?? oh well, I will keep this behind the lines, so that the readers dont catch up that she is the monster of the story; Does Jon has feeling for Sansa, her cousing sister? oh well, I will keep this very hidden and boscure and will make the Jon and D@ny romance seems its the love story of the novels;Does Sansa has real feelings for Jon and its desperately trying to keep him as KITN?? of well, I will also keep Sansa’s feelings and desires hidden and in contrast, I will make her animosity towards D@ny very appparent and imply its because Sansa wants to be a queen herself.
There is no reason Jon Snow would fall for someone as entitled and arrogant as D@enerys, none. George is making a disservice to his hero by pretending he is madly in love with this spoiled brat. This storyline is awful, even if Jon is pretending he is in love with D@ny.
The only reason he is writting this crap is to hide from the audience how very terrible D@ny is, he is manipulating the reader. If Jon Snow never complains about Daenerys cruel decision to forbid him to ever tell anyone about his real name, than the reader will also never question Daenerys terrible decision. Her terrible behavior is almost forgotten.
If Sansa doesnt follow Jon’s pleas and tells Tyrion about Jon’s identidy, but keeps to herself the real reason she wants Jon free from D@enerys, than the audience will be mad at Sansa, for
Second of, I am tired of the show playing with this Dark Sansa character and now I believe this is how the books will do it too. They will hide Sansa’s real motivations (like love for Jon and her family) and make more salient for the reader the false motives, like her hunger for power.
If you ask a tv  viewer, Sansa got everything she wanted, because her feelings for Jon were almost hidden to the audience, but her desire for an independent North were made very salient. Why not write a line where she says she doesnt want to be queen, that she wants Jon Snow safe and protect in Winterfell and that she wants him to continue as KITN? Well, because they want this storyline to be implicit and this is just too frustratin for me.
AS YOU SEE....
By the end of the day, I am disspaointed in George, not really the TV show, which is even more sadder. I think he wrote a very beautiful story, but his ending is taking away all my joy for those characters and this novel. I know he wanted avoid the expected and subvert the expecations, but he is shooting his own story in their foot. And its braking my heart.
What terrible way to end such fascinating tale...
Jaime Lannister as the Hand of the King.
Tumblr media
On season one we were literally told by Tyrion Lannister on episode 1, that Jaime was the handsome brother and that Tyrion was the smart one. That of course, its not a lie, but I do think it was a way for books and show to deceives us, to overestimate Tyrion’s intelligence and underestimate Jaime’s capability as a leader and as a judge of human character. Jaime was the one who told to Jory on S1 E4 how dangerous Theon seemed to be for House Stark and what a risk his was for the family, while Tyrion could only mock the way Theon talked about his masters. Jaime proved to be the one right since later Theon would betray House Stark and take Winterfell.
Saving the lives of innocent people and spare blood shed seems to be a constant on Jaime’s live. He saved the life of millions of people in KL and instead of being made a hero, he became a disgraced man, and oathbreaker, a man without honor because only few knew the reason why he did what he did.
Yet, Jaime still kept on trying to save lives during his life, in fact, it got my attention in my re watch that he did offer himself to fight Robb Stark in a man to man combat, in order to avoid the war between Starks and Lannisters. Thats exactly what Jon Snow did in season 6, but of course at the time we all thought he was a jackass to make such offer, because we knew it he was a great swordfighter and would of course beat Robb Stark, but he was trying to save the lives of thousands because that’s one of the constants in Jaime’s life. He is always trying to avoid more blood shed.
Tumblr media
When he was sent to Riverland to take back the Tully’s castle he tried every way he could to avoid more deaths and more conflicts. First he tried to use diplomacy but when that didn’t work he lied to Edmure Tully and told him he would kill his son, it was a drastic way, but it did avoid even more destruction and deaths in the Riverlands.
Tumblr media
When he went to Dorne, he was able to solve the conflict between House Martell and House Lannister without bloodshell and was bringing Myrcella home without another war.
I think a ruler or a person of power that tries to solve the conflicts with diplomacy and negotiation its one of the most important points of the books. A leader, a king, a ruler should always try to save their people and try other methods before war. George RRM is a anti war man, but he does believes that some war are necessary and unavoidable, BUT if there is chance for peace, it should be explored.
So, I believe George RRM has big plans for Jaime in the end of this story and will award him with a hppy ending for caring so much for the lives of the people in Westeros.
* S1E1 in his first scene with Cersei she tells him that he should be the Hand and Jaime remarks that its a honor that he could live without and makes a joke telling her that its a job that requires long days. Remember Jaime always uses jokes to deflect insecurance or frustration. I actually think he likes the idea.
* S1E1 When they are preparing for the feast in the evening Jaime goes after Tyrion who is in a brothel with some whores. Jaime shows up and tells him to get ready for the party. "The Starks are feasting on this evening, please dont leave me alone with those people"
That already got my attention. I expect the Jon and the Starks to rule the kingdom in the end and a new time, a time for wolves to start in Westeros by the end of this story, and I think Jaime will be the last Lannister left to restore his House.
* S1E2 Later we see Jaime going to Jon Snow to thank him for joining the NW, he offers his right hand and makes a joke about Jon's decision. They even make sure to focus on the hand shake.
* When Ned Stark arrives in Kings Landing Jaime is in the Throne room to receive him. He makes a joke about Ned being the hand of the King "how do they say it? the King shits and the Hand cleans it?
Again, he is making another joke and mocking Ned Stark, but I think he is a bit jealous, he wanted the job, but people dont think he is serious enough for such position. Nobody taks him seriously, no even his family.
* S1E5 - in the Robert and Cersei scene where they discuss their marriage, once again there is the idea of Jaime being the hand of the King. Robert says that he will make Jaime his hand, but Cersei knows tells him that Jaime is not serious enough for the job.
* S1E5 Robert goes see Ned and orders him to put back the badge of hand of the King or he will put the badge on JAIME LANNISTER and make him the Hand of the King!!!
How many times now did they mention Jaime and the Hand of the King job? how did I miss this in my first views of the show? I was actually shocked.
* S1E7 - Tywin is introduced in that awesome scene with the dead stag and in that scene he asks Jaime to become the man he was supposed to be. Jaime now in season 7 is finally taking back his life and becoming the hero we all expect him to be. Jaime completely outsmarted Tyrion in season 7 using the mistakes he made in the past as a lesson. Jaime and Jon were literally the two leaders on season 7 trying to save their people from unecessary deaths. He went to Cersei to tells her that they couldnt win against Dragons, he wanted her to surrender to Dany to save the lives of his armies and his people; he decided to abandon her to go fight North and save the realm. He is finally becoming the man he is supposed to be.
And that quote from Jon in season 7 also made me think of him and Jaime "my father used to say, we find our true friends in the battlefield". I think Jon and Jaime will forge a nice relationship in season 8 and Jon will need someone with experience in Kings Landing. Jaime lived his whole life in the capital and watched his father and Jon Arryn being hands of the king for decades. He will help Jon to be a better king.
There is also foreshadowed in the books about this ending game possibility. Our brilliant fedonciadale  pointed out that:
 And I would like to add that in the books it is not a pin, but a chain of hands that signifies the office of the hand.And the mummers make a rope and hang Jaime’s hand around his neck like a chain.
Tumblr media
Bolton’s silence was a hundred times more threatening than Vargo Hoat’s slobbering malevolence. Pale as morning mist, his eyes concealed more than they told. Jaime misliked those eyes. They reminded him of the day at King’s Landing when Ned Stark had found him seated on the Iron Throne. The Lord of the Dreadfort finally pursed his lips and said, “You have lost a hand.”                  "No,“ said Jaime, “I have it here, hanging round my neck.” (ASOS, Jaime IV)
And even before Jaime lost his hand, the books were already focusing on his right hand, as jonbonsnowvi pointed out:
Ned, he should have kissed the hand that slew Aerys, but he preferred to scorn the arse he found sitting on Robert’s throne –– ACOK - Catelyn VII
How cool is that? That would be a surprise ending for Jaime Lannister. Make it happen!!!!
