Thinking about Rolan/rand in high school in gallaway. I think that rand would realize he had a crush on Rolan so quickly but then hate himself for it. He probably told kian, only out queer in the town, and kian said he should tell Rolan how he feels. But rand is so scared of getting rejected and Rolan hating him for it, so he puts his feelings in a box and just pray the crush goes away(it doesn’t).

And then Rolan, realizes pretty quickly, rand isn’t the most sutble and he gets flustered so easily. But Rolan can’t even think about the idea of being queer, he doesn’t let himself even think it. Sure he loves rand(maybe even more than a friend-) but anything more than that is dangerous. Rolan doesn’t want a life a secrecy and people staring at him, even if it’s with rand. It’s easier to ignore rands longing looks and how he goes bright red when they hold hands. It’s easier to be friends, and Rolan isn’t willing to change that.

I just think that 'animals are living intelligent creatures that have feelings and deserve to be respected' and 'when done properly farming is beneficial to both people and animals and there's nothing wrong with raising and killing animals for food, clothing, and other products' are concepts that very much can and should coexist
