not to be messy but how do you feel about people stealing other peoples viral posts on tumblr and reposting it on twitter like it’s theirs. (she’s on here by guttergirl-444) & she has stolen many more lol
Tumblr media
at first glance it’s like shock and amazement more than anything because i never thought this would happen to me, but when i actually stop to think about it, it actually is very frustrating and invasive. i know it happens all the time and i can’t really stop it, plus my posts have no copyright or anything but it is true, when i make posts that aren’t haha funny laugh a lot play a lot, they kind of are little extensions of my artwork. like drafts and ideas that often get elaborated on if they seem to connect with people.
i don’t really want to dunk on other artists because it feels mean spirited, but i just want to point out this one instance that shows how writing anything on tumblr is “just a tumblr post” and people often don’t consider that there’s a person behind it. it’s almost like a popular tumblr post becomes fair use. This artist here took my words directly from my post (and even used the same iconography of a beach??) and when you click on the link in the description, it takes you to their instagram account with 142k followers. not even a single nod to me, who wrote the actual words. as an extra little punch, they call themself a poet in their bio.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
sure my post was a bottom text top text “meme image” but there was a lot behind it—in both thought and time. the exact same ideas and photos made their way into a book i made just a couple months later. i think i sold umm one copy?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
all in all, im not complaining about lacking “popularity” because that’s utterly stupid. but there’s something moderately soul-crushing about making a tumblr post and having it ripped to shreds by all walks of life online. It literally feels like i’ve placed something beautiful in the world out of my own kindness, then walked away, and when i come back everyone has defaced and damaged and killed it. it’s kind of invasive but I know it’s the way things go.
i love the anonymity of tumblr but sometimes I wish it we were all a little more open. Maybe people could remember that behind every blog is another person with ideas, cares, opinions, annoyances, and loves. I’m sure this one twitter account isn’t really doing much damage—honestly I haven’t even gone to look at it to see how people are replying—but it’s rough out there on this beautiful social media we call tumblrposts.

Look, I get that getting less attention than some others is frustrating, but some people here have insane expectations when it comes to gaining other people's attention and energy.
A person who makes hyperspecific posts about their f/o only and who vents/asks for sympathy a lot on their blog will get a little attention at first, but people are going to get tired of spending their energy on them when it doesn't seem to make any difference and the person is back in crisis mode again days later. Contrast this to the person who puts out regular posts that a lot of people can enjoy and relate to, and who seeks very little emotional support from their followers - they're obviously more fun to be around.
Is it "fair"? No! But it's how social relationships with strangers work. Compassion fatigue is very real, even in the sweetest, most well meaning of individuals. We're all here to escape from something in our real lives and indulge in fantasy, and it's not fair or practical to anyone to expect the community to do heavy emotional lifting for us. I've seen people complain that the community isn't a community any more, but I think it's fine. We're here to share f/o content and giggle over fictional characters together, not to provide 24/7 validation to strangers who happen to have f/os too.
It's fine if you expect serious support from f/o tumblr, but understand that that's not what some of us are here for. Expecting high levels of attention when you're self ship blog #357 to most people is just setting yourself up for disappointment and failure. I log in, I blast a few posts that remind me of my blorbo, and I log out again, quite happy to be self ship blog #358 with 20 followers.

i seriously want to like reply to every single one of your jojo meta/analysis posts but im such a lurker this feels like weird behavior for me. like i wanna pick your brain. sorry if that is weird coming from a total rando
It's just you have a really good sense for understanding this series and it always makes me very happy to see people who well and truly Get It
Thank you very much. (I've been getting notifs of you going through my blog all day, not that I mind at all though LOL)
Though Diavolo is obviously my main guy, I got fixated on Jojo before I ever saw Vento Aureo. It's a very very interesting series to see evolve throughout the decades while keeping some consistent main themes- for better or worse, there is a lot you can pick apart about it. It's so interesting a lot of people reduce it to just a "funny meme fighting show" because deeper topics are always present beyond (and intertwined with) the fighting and goofy outfits.
It (particularly Diavolo) is the thing that felt like it was bursting out of my head enough to motivate me into making a blog in the first place, so I kind of owe it in that way. I also think actually writing my thoughts out for the first time improved my media analysis and comprehension abilities a lot, even if it's just analyzing/complaining about a popular Shonen series on Tumblr. It has changed a lot about the way I look at media, I think.

The disrespect this show gets on a daily basis, from the production to the network(s) to even the pirates who prefer to rip shows like *checks notes* Big Brother Canada (same group)...
I wouldn't be calling them out if I hadn't done this myself, by the way. People who have never ripped a damn thing can stay in their lane. I have earned my stripes, I'm not someone who wants to talk shit about those who do this, and I understand the process involved. The webrips are a different story, as they are uploaded by Amazon whenever. The HDTV rips should be uploaded on time, shortly after the network airs the show, and it's the same process as it always has been to rip them. Uploading HDTV rips after the webrips has no value whatsoever, unless someone cares that much about the promo, which of course CityTV doesn't care enough to upload themselves, proving once again what a shitty network they are.
Hudson and Rex has an international fanbase, it shouldn't be so difficult to be able to watch it as an international fan in 2024.

~Ask List~
Let's Drop The Stigma And Talk About It
A little list of questions/asks that people may be wondering, but aren't sure if it's appropriate to ask. Or that creators worry would be 'bragging' or 'complaining' by talking about. Let's throw out those thoughts, and just talk about it~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) What's one piece of feedback you would give someone starting out? (writing, drawing, wav making, etc~)
2) What’s one piece of advice you see often that you don’t find works for you/helpful?
3) What’s one thing you wish you knew when you started making content?
4) What piece of work are you proudest of? Why are you proud of it?
5) What piece of work are you not proud of? Is there anything you could do to change your feelings on it?
6) What’s a part of sharing your work that you really enjoy?
7) What’s a struggle you face with sharing your work?
8) What feedback do you most enjoy receiving?
9) What feedback, if any, do you not enjoy receiving?
10) What feedback do you enjoy giving?
11) What feedback, if any, do you not enjoy giving?
12) Do you believe you deserve what you’ve gotten, or that it’s not been earned? Either way, why?
13) Which asks do you like getting the most?
14) Which asks do you wish you got more of?
15) Are there any asks you don’t like getting?
16) Do you find it easier, or harder, to get a lot of feedback on content?
17) What kind of requests, if any, do you enjoy getting?
18) What kind of requests, if any, do you wish you got more of?
19) What kind of requests, if any, do you not enjoy getting?
20) Free Square: Tell Us Anything~
The Kingdom of the Wicked/Princes of Sin books (I know Princes of Sin is the Adult Standalone Spinoff Series, but come on now... KotW was Adult and I stand by that) have genuinely fun high stakes plots that are like "my boyfriend is the devil, actually; thoughts?" and "my people are crumbling into madness and now I have to do a supernatural scavenger hunt to fix it" HOWEVER Kerri Maniscalco is also DELIGHTFULLY good at engineering the WILDEST Romance Reasons moments, and there are like 10 per book.
Among them:
--"you must go into the Lake of Naked Honesty, which means y'all get naked and can't tell lies, especially if the question is 'are you turned on right now'"?
--"we must travel through the SIN CORRIDOR to get to my house, and during that time you will be tested by all the sins, including lust, which will make you super horny and ready to hop on my dick, I'm sorry, I don't make the rules"
(at one point, it could be argued that one of the heroes probably DOES in fact make the rules, but he's not fighting them)
--"oh no, I caught you committing murder! Quick, let's fake an engagement to save your reputation!" (?????)
--"my brothers said the only way we would pass the test would be if we fucked in this cage, maybe with them watching"
--"shucks, we must stay in this tiny shack together in the cold, with only one bed, which is made out of pine needles I braided together, I sure hope you don't shove your ass up against my dick" (the braid detail is so important to me)
--"we must travel on these Lust Gondolas, and if you want to suck my dick on the Lust Gondolas, DON'T DO IT, I'm telling you, DO NOT, get UP, STOP--"
growing older is weird once you start becoming more emotionally mature than your parents and start realizing how emotionally instable they are and that none of these fuckers should be allowed to have kids in the first place
I honestly don't trust tumblr's algorithm to be any useful, because it still recommends me personal posts from artists and writers instead of. you know. their art or writing.
Like, congratulations on them for their surgery, but I would like to see if their art is any good.
they made Cleo a lesbian which is all I ever wanted but I can't even appreciate it because they handled it so fucking badly because this season's showrunners are allergic to having genuine authentic character moments that matter and I hate being upset but I AM
no offense, i know it's cringe and stupid to be mad, but it's like. absurdly funny when i make personal posts kinda crying out for attention and immediately after get an ask about some fandom shit. like for a second i think someone's gonna talk to me about it but then it's some irrelevant shit. sorry but not the time.
Some Nathan fans are just insistent on not believing the things characters actually say about what they do or don’t want. (Which should not be a surprise considering). The obvious example being Elizabeth with so many people still agreeing with what Nathan decided she felt rather than what she clearly communicated. And holding onto that even after Nathan himself came to accept and believe she wasn’t in love with him season 8. (This still bothers me and I hate seeing this attitude come back full force now). They have also apparently decided to disregard everything Lucas has said about wanting home and family in order to claim he and Elizabeth want/need completely different things in life. I have yet to see any explanation as to why he willingly moved to a small town, has chosen to stay there for so long, and is lying about the kind of life he wants. Is he just in denial and afraid to admit his true feelings for The City? But seriously, if he wanted to live life on a bigger stage he could have just done that. I guess Aunt Agatha is a more reliable source than Lucas himself though.
Blossom is the most mischaracterized girl and i'm tired of pretending shes not. Like, shes not even my favorite of the girls (3rd in the list of girls from most to least favorite lol) but people just DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE HER BLOSSOM!
They just want a pretty smart-girl love interest for whatever ruff they want to ship her with instead of. Blossom. You could replace fanon's perception of blossom with a wood plank and it would be the exact same.
It’s sad but you’re right.
Tumblr media
Blossom is SUCH a fun character full of personality and I could go on and repeat the many praises I’ve given her on my blog, but yeah! See, even the haters (affectionate) know that the fandom gets her all wrong. 🤣
