Summary: Gabriel decides to tell Adrien the truth about Hawkmoth while Adrien stumbles onto a truth of his own.

There was no blood.

Skin, or what should have been skin, peeled back to reveal metal bones and veins of wire.

"Kid..."

Adrien pulled on the fake tissue. Watching as the biomimicry of his internal structure flexed in response to the pain that didn't come.

"Kid!"

He remembered his fifth birthday. Standing on the chair to blow out his candles because his body was too small. Remembered when he peeled off the tux that was squeezing him because he'd grown too big for it. Adrien remembered his childhood...

Didn't he?

"Adrien!"

His eyes snapped into focus. Plagg trying to pry his fingers away from the flap of fake skin that Adrien was pulling, pulling, pull-

Adrien let go and collapsed to his knees. Whatever technology he was made out of already working to repair him. The numbness fading and a burning itch taking it's place.

Fake pain. To prevent... damage.

A paw was placed on his cheek. Big green eyes gazing into his. Moisture congealed on the surface of his optical receptors. Simulating tears.

"P-Plagg?" His voice broke. "D-does this mean I c-can't be Chat Noir anymore?"

Plagg's tail stilled. "... You're not getting rid of me that easily," he promised.

Adrien nodded as his artificial heart slowed. The servos in his legs taking a long time to reboot.

Gabriel stared at images of the silver ring on his son's finger.

The shape was uncanny.

The people in charge of Adrien's photoshoots reported that he often disappeared when there was an akuma... Not that that said much, considering.

But there was also the Simon Says incident. One of his many blunders.

Chat Noir's temper reminded him so vividly of Emilie.

Gabriel straightened his back. No use wondering. He made his way quickly to Adrien's room and threw open the door without knocking.

"Adrien, I have something important to-"

His son's room was empty.

"What!? Nathalie!"

Nathalie and the bodyguard Gabriel was starting to think was slightly overrated rushed to him at his yell.

"Where is my son!? Find him!" Gabriel snapped.

Adrien didn't remember when Solitude first came out.

Understandable. He wasn't "born" yet. But that did mean that this film was the only recording of his mother that wasn't carefully curated for his consumption.

He wasn't sure what he was hoping to glean from it but... "Having a mechanical brain that records everything has to be good for something," he thought aloud.

"Like sniffing out that one bit of cheese that's gotten too rotten?" Plagg asked.

Translation: finding a clue about how much of his "life" actually happened.

"Is there such a thing as too rotten with you?" Adrien deflected with a smile instead.

"You'd be surprised." Plagg hid as they came into view of the movie theater.

Gabriel suddenly remembered that Adrien had come into his office earlier that day to ask for something... But Gabriel was too engrossed in the question of Chat Noir to pay attention to him.

What ... What was Adrien feeling when he came in?

He should know. The Butterfly made him know. Always. He couldn't turn it off.

But he could shut it out...

Suddenly the idea of akumatizing his son's bodyguard no longer felt like the smart move.

Gabriel ignored Nooroo's questioning look as he stopped fidgeting with the Butterfly brooch and reattached his tie. Activating the hidden elevator to decend from his lair.

He dialed the bodyguard and waited for the answering click. "I know where he is. Let him finish watching the film then escort him back once it ends."

Hanging up, Gabriel gazed up at the portrait of his comatose wife.

Adrien wiped at his photo receptors as the credits rolled.

The film was a passion project between friends with too much money. Which showed in clunky dialogue and weird scene transitions. And yet... Maman was an amazing actress. Embodying the isolation someone could feel even while surrounded by people.

The servos in his fingers whirled as his digits approximated a fist. It wasn't fair. Adrien didn't even have a heart just simulated responses.

It shouldn't hurt this much to see himself reflected in his mother's character.

His facial recognition detected the Gorilla a few rows behind him as Adrien stood. Here to guard Father's favorite toy.

Adrien barely acknowledged him as he walked back to the vehicle. Logic algorithms malfunctioning as he was temporarily overcome with the desire to have been born a car.

Gabriel stared at the expressionless mask of his son's face. Adrien had his mother's eyes. Gabriel had insisted on getting the color just right.

"Adrien-" Gabriel cleared his throat. "There is something I have to tell you."

"I'm not real."

"...What?"

Adrien's optical receptors simulated the reddening response as internal moisturizer was released. He walked up to one of the statues in his maker's office and punched the stone as hard as he could. Cracks spiderwebbing from the impact.

"Adrien!"

Pulling back his fist Adrien's optical receptors focused on the joints of his digits. "I'm not real."

"No!" Gabriel grabbed his son's hand. Fingers ghosting over his knuckles where synthetic flesh revealed metal bones. Hands freezing as realization hit him like a meteorite. "...How long?"

"Long enough." Adrien snatched his hand out of Gabriel's grasp as he stepped back.

"Adrien... son-"

"Don't." The tears in his eyes started to spill over. "Don't call me that. I'm not your son. You don't see me as a son. I'm just your fancy doll-"

"That's not true!" Gabriel insisted. "You mean everything to me!"

"Oh, yeah?" Adrien scowled. "Then how come you're never around!? How come I need an appointment just to ask if I can see Maman's movie!? How come I can't call you dad!?" Adrien's words echoed in the high walls of the mansion as his voice rose.

"... Nooroo, transforme-moi."

Adrien scrambled back. "No. No!"

"You are so much like your mother," Hawkmoth said, eyes gentle. "She wanted a son so badly before the end. So I moved heaven and earth to build her one. When we made you I wanted you to be just like her." His transformation fell as he reached out a hand to caress Adrien's cheek.

His son flinched from his touch.

... Gabriel let his hand fall. "You gave her such life Adrien. You gave her years the doctors said she didn't have because she wanted to spend more time with you."

For over a decade she clung to life for you. Developing plans and perfecting your future bodies so it would be like you were growing up like any other child."

"Astro Boy... She called me Astro Boy."

"Yes," Gabriel laughed. "She said it was my fault. For infecting her with my sense of humor."

"... Why?" Adrien asked, a thousand questions in a single word.

"I... I had to get her back. It wasn't fair! To take her from us when we had so much left to do! I... See her in you. Some days so strongly it hurts and I couldn't-" Gabriel took a shakey breath. "I couldn't bring myself to tell you. Any of it."

Adrien wiped at the tears in his eyes. Heart drumming in his chest. "So... I'm just a pet robot that looks too much like your wife."

"No! Adrien, no! I-"

"I'll be in my room." Adrien ran out of his father's office.

Leaving Gabriel alone. Like he had done so many times before.

Things were... Awkward after that.

Not least because Gabriel actually showed up for meals and attempted to engage with Adrien's questions about his own nature.

"How come I get hungry?"

"Some of your synthetic components require organic fuel."

"Is that why you control my diet so much."

"Well, yes."

"I want to know what I shouldn't be eating. And why. It's my body. I should be the one to decide what goes in it."

"Nathalie will give you a list."

"... Does she know?"

"...Yes."

Adrien stood abruptly, breakfast half eaten. "Excuse me, Father. I'm late for school."

Gabriel did not point out that he was in fact an hour early.

"How old was my first body."

"About three years. That is also the amount of time you spent in it before we transferred your consciousness to your five year old form."

"...How does it work?"

Gabriel shifted awkwardly. "Your old body is connected to your new one and-"

Adrien shook his head. "No, I mean, how am I built?"

In retrospect Adrien should've known seeing his past selves was going to be super creepy.

Even creepier than seeing his future body suspended in a fluid solution. His synthetic skin only grown down to the first abdomen. Leaving his gut and legs' inner workings exposed. The metal-synth musculature was a lot more anatomical than Adrien thought it would be.

It was a strangely comforting thought. That his future body would be even more human than his current one. Almost enough to offset the odd feeling of watching yourself sleep.

Gabriel cleared his throat. "Every iteration is more advanced than the last. We may even be able to eliminate the filter problem with feathers in your adult self."

"I was wondering about that." Actually, Adrien was wondering if he could get abs in his next body but was too self conscious to ask.

Learning about himself was so distracting that it took Adrien a while to notice that Hawkmoth hadn't sent out an akuma since Gabriel revealed himself.

Or maybe he was simply avoiding having to deal with it. Adrien thought as he walked to his father's office. It was past the time Gabriel was usually busy with work but...

"Adrien. It's late. Isn't it a school night?"

"It's not that late," Adrien muttered, ignoring the silly warm feeling in his chest. "Father... You haven't akumatized anyone in a while."

Gabriel paused. His fingers saved his work and exited out of the program before giving his son his full attention. "I... Realized that I could only keep going as Hawkmoth... if I ignored your pain."

"... Oh."

Gabriel removed his tie and stared at the broach.

Nooroo floated out of his hiding place. "Master?"

"Hello," Adrien stepped closer as he held out his pinky finger for the kwami to shake. "What's your name?"

"I am Nooroo. Pleasure to meet you properly, Adrien." Nooroo shook Adrien's offered pinky with his own appendage.

"Is he what empowers the Miraculous?" Adrien asked, hand gliding over Plagg's hiding place.

"... What do you really want to ask me, Adrien?"

Adrien took a deep breath. "Don't you think it's time Nooroo went back to his own family?"

Gabriel stilled. "You... Want me to give them my Miraculous?"

"Please, dad!" Adrien walked up to his maker and held his hand in both of his.

He looked down at his son's pleading eyes. He could see it. Eventually, the temptation would be too great. The pain of this moment would fade among the sea of his grief and he would fall back into old habits.

And his son would suffer again.

Gabriel let go of the Butterfly and let it fall into Adrien's hands. "O-okay," he breathed. "Okay."

Relief bloomed on Adrien's face as he wrapped his arms around his dad. Gabriel returning the embrace.

"Dude, I can't believe you're a robot!"

Adrien's face fell.

"That's so cool!"

His head snapped up to find Nino's eyes sparkling in awe.

"Y-you don't think it's weird?"

"Eh," Nino wrapped an arm around Adrien's shoulders. "Normal's overrated."

Adrien smiled shyly. "Sorry I didn't tell you sooner."

"Hey," Nino moved so his hands were on Adrien's shoulders and he was looking his best friend straight in the eye. "I get it. I still haven't come out to my parents even though I know they'll be chill about me being bi. You've got nothing to be sorry about my dude. I'm- I'm glad you told me.

Adrien wiped the blurryness out of his eyes. "Y-yeah."

Nino grinned "Now, c'mon bro! What kinda superpowers you got?"

"Well..." Adrien eyed the desk Nino had snuck into the boiler room. Carefully grabbing the edges to distribute it's weight more evenly. Lifting with his legs Adrien held the thing over his head.

Nino's eyes tried to pop out of his head. "Oh that is sick bro!"

Adrien set down the desk and rubbed the back of his neck. Smiling at Nino's reaction.

They fist bumped as the bell rang. Hurrying to class. Adrien felt so much lighter. He might not have revealed himself as Chat Noir but this... This was good.

He'd talk to Markov later. See if his... Compatriot? Could shed some light on being a robot. Who knows? Adrien grinned. He might even pick up a new trick or two.

Chat Noir is the most magical a boy can be you can't change my mind

Chat Noir has a metal staff that extends. He uses it as a defense weapon and for transport. He holds on to it like it is a pogo stick, and it extends and de-extends to bounce him through the air. He has a power called the Cataclysm, which vaporizes pretty much any inanimate object it touches and infects human flesh with a spreading rot. He activates this power by saying the word cataclysm aloud. The cataclysm looks like a spitting ball of black energy that surrounds his hand. Chat Noir gains his powers from a ring called a Miraculous. The ring is inhabited by a creature called a kwami. The kwami takes the form of a minuscule cat-like animal, who calls himself Plagg. Plagg can levitate and phase through walls. Plagg enjoys eating smellly Camembert cheese. When Chat Noir is not wearing his suit, he is a 9th-grader boy named Adrien, the kind son of a cold businessman. It is thought that Adrien might be a sort of android created by the power of a different miraculous, but he appears fully human.

tell us about sad machine please 🤩

So this was a fic idea that...went a little off the rails. (You should know, its in the littlebug files somewhere)

I've started writing it already and I do intend to share the fic at some point, so I'll not go into too much details for now. But I can certianly give a quick overview!

It's essentially a semi-futuristic cyberpunk au. In this au, Gabriel runs a massive company that specialises in augmentation, cybernetics and other technology (so think Alliance from the show but a lot more products). His brand is at the forefront of technology and is constantly updating and releasing new products for consumers - but this also leads to a lot of waste and things becoming obsolete. This is something that Adrien absolutely hates.

Adrien is very skilled in programming and mechanical engineering, but has yet to really be involved in his father's company beyond being a public face/model. And he's doing a lot to avoid becoming ensnared in the company because he'd rather use his skill elsewhere.

Which is exactly what he does! With the help of his friend Nino, Adrien uses the pseudonym 'Chat Noir' and works to help repair the items and parts for people who depend on these things but don't have the means to keep upgrading to the constant rollout of new models (so things like prosthetics and body augments and things that people literally need for their quality of life).

Of course Adrien does this all without Gabriel's knowledge - which means Adrien has to source parts for his repairs outside of the company. Luckily with the constant progression and changeover in technology and machinery there's a lot of scrap. So Adrien often spends his time salvaging for parts.

It's during one of these salvaging expeditions that he comes across a very curious little thing. A piece of machinery that appears to host some kind of AI. He doesn't know if it had been some kind of robot, android or just some assistant programme, but he's very quickly intrigued why such a complex and sophisticated AI would be thrown away (even if she is a little bit glitchy and buggy).

So he takes her in and calls her Ladybug.

Who/what is she? Where did she come from? What's hidden behind her corrupted memory?

Obviously there's a lot of questions but... you'll just have to wait until I post the fic!

Poor boy be seeing boxes instead of emojis 😔😔 his dad didn’t want to pay for an iPhone cause the company is “competition” plus the CEO once wore a sweater vest, which is WAY out of style. Also Gabriel doesn’t believe his son is truly human and cannot justify buying an iPhone for something that’s essentially a piece of furniture.

kinda, it’s more like adrien IS an android phone and he really wants this cool dating app all his friends have but it’s an iphone only app. like it’s just not even an option for gabriel to give him this, even if gabriel cared enough to (which gabriel probably doesn’t, because he’d rather adrien be with whoever he picked, but maybe emilie would have wanted adrien to have a soulmate). but yeah he still be seeing boxes instead of emoji 😔

Adrien Agreste…and Data from Star Trek. The parallels kept leaping out at me. Then I started talking about it with my husband and a friend and it spiralled. Bear in mind, this whole post is full of Star Trek spoilers, including the films, especially Nemesis.

Unnatural Creations

Adrien’s a sentibeing and Data’s an android. They’re both created by ‘unnatural’ means – created by a human rather than God/nature/whatever you believe. Consequently, they both begin their lives as blank slates, with no childhood memories, and they long to fulfil their programming. With Data, this is more literal, while in Wishmaker Adrien tells us all he ever wanted was to be what his parents wanted him to be.

This lends them a similar sense of naivety, leaving them open to being fooled or even used. In a way, they are both Pinocchio, wishing to be ‘real boys’. Pinocchio even wears a feather in his cap, which is what led me to do this drawing a few years ago.

Data and Adrien’s ‘fathers’ (creators) have made other children, too – other androids and sentibeings – not necessarily to public knowledge.

Dreams

Over time, both Adrien and Data come to desire individuality. An integral part of this is having dreams. Adrien’s dreams come in the form of personal ambitions, beginning with his love for Ladybug. Data has ambitions, too, but his dreams also come in a more literal form, i.e. as he evolves, he starts dreaming like a real human.

'Evil' Twins

Another crucial part of being human is self-reflection, highlighted by Data and Adrien’s ‘evil twins’. For Data, this is Lore, made according to the same design but with his own personality. He obtains the emotion chip intended for Data. Where Data is all logic, Lore is all feeling without boundaries. He’s the emotional potential exploding unchecked.

Adrien has a few ‘shadow’ sides, which I’ve explored before. An obvious one is Felix, wielder of the peacock miraculous, i.e. the power of emotion. Then there’s Cat Blanc, who is all of Adrien’s darker thoughts and feelings bursting forth uncontrolled.

What Lore, Felix and Cat Blanc have in common is that they are abused sons, bitter and resentful that their fathers never gave them the love they longed for. They lash out from grief and trauma. Also, Lore killed his/Data’s father, while Cat Blanc killed Gabriel in an alternate timestream.

Data needs to face and deal with this ‘shadow’ side before he’s ready to receive the emotion chip intended for him and find the happy medium between the two extremes of the emotional spectrum. We see this when he is forced to deactivate Lore, thus inheriting the emotion chip, learning from the mistakes his brother made and trying to do better.

Likewise, Adrien needs to come to terms with his ‘shadow’ before he’s ready to face the final battle with Monarch. In Conformation, this played out as Adrien having the emotional maturity to recognised when he was out of control and make the decision to remove his miraculous, stepping away from the battle before he could do damage.

This is without even getting into the mirror universes in both shows, where Data has a much more direct ‘evil’ alter, and Cat Noir comes head-to-head with Claw Noir. (Sadly, we never saw Data hug Evil Data the way we saw our two Noirs accept each other.) There was also the very brief Copycat moment. Adrien’s had a lot of doubles.

It’s interesting to note that Lore believed he was superior to humans and had a genocidal plan, much like Felix snaps all the non-sentibeings out of existence in Emotion. Lore also dresses like Data and poses like him to fool their father and others on the ship, like Felix does with Adrien, attempting to fool Gabriel and others in Adrien’s life. A key difference is that Lore never really gets the chance for redemption, whereas Felix is only 14 and has his whole life ahead of him, with the opportunity for positive evolution. He discovers the love he’s lacked as a child and chooses to change.

At one point, Lore also implants the emotion chip in Data and uses it to control him remotely, inspiring anger and hate in him, thus weaponising him. Felix makes it very clear that he would never try to control Adrien. Instead, it’s Gabriel who controls Adrien via the twin rings, the Alliance, and magical dust causing him to live out his worst nightmare. In Cat Blanc and Ephemeral, we also see Gabriel akumatise Adrien, using his darkest feelings to transform him into a weapon.

Perfection

When Data first meets his brother, Lore convinces Data that he was created as a 'less perfect' version of him. When they are later summoned back to their father's secret home, Data learns this is untrue and is fascinated to realise that he is 'not less perfect than Lore'. Adrien, too, is repeatedly described as 'perfect'.

Cats

Data has a beloved pet cat. Adrien, of course, spends all his private time with Plagg. I also can't help but notice that Data and Cat Noir's eyes are similar in colour.

Artistry / Education

Data is a keen painter and violinist, and well-versed in just about everything, bearing in mind he was programmed with encyclopaedic knowledge. Adrien is a pianist and, thanks to his father’s programming, is also highly skilled in multiple disciplines and languages…and seems to know a lot of very random information, e.g. Morse code.

Undead Mothers and the Demented Fathers Who Can’t Let Them Go

Adrien’s father can’t get over the death of his wife and keeps her cryogenically sustained in the basement. Similarly, Data’s ‘father’ was married to a woman Data deems his ‘mother’. She, too, died long ago, but his father transferred her personality and memories into an android body. She’s the only android in the galaxy who can pass as completely human, even in medical scans.

Self-Sacrifice

Cat Noir is always sacrificing himself for Ladybug. We don’t know if he remembers those moments of death or not. He seems to throw himself in front of her on instinct, as if it were the natural order of things. He believes he’s not as valuable as she is.

In Star Trek: Nemesis Data sacrificed himself for Picard – although he did see himself as of equal value. In fact, he argued strenuously throughout the series for equal status with humans. And to all of us watching Nemesis…I can’t begin to tell you how hard his ‘death’ hit me.

On paper, it makes sense for an android – a robot – to sacrifice himself so a human may live. But we spent seven seasons plus several films getting to know Data. Android or not, he was a beloved character, he was a friend, he formed relationships. That’s why the crew gave him a full funeral and eulogies.

Likewise, Cat’s sacrifices hit Ladybug hard, something many of us fanfiction writers have explored in depth.

Programming

Perhaps the biggest difference is that Data knew he was programmed. He knew he was at the mercy of his microchip. He knew when his emotion chip was installed. He was wholly conscious of his developmental journey.

Yet, even after five seasons, Adrien has no idea. He doesn’t know he’s been programmed because he doesn’t know he’s a sentibeing. Like something out of Blade Runner – and like Data’s mother – Adrien would pass the Empathy Test and be deemed human yet still have no idea of his origins.

The fact is, you can’t break your programming until you know you’ve been programmed.

Data was given all the chances he needed to live a full life and make a fully informed decision about what he wanted to do with it at the end when he made that final sacrifice. Adrien has none of that. He was edging towards revelation, realising his father was controlling him somehow, but all of that was taken from him at the end of S5. It’s like if Data were given a hard reset.

Marinette’s choice to keep the truth from Adrien mirrors Data’s choice to keep the truth from his android mother. She believes she’s a human, the original woman she was made to replicate, and he chooses to let her carry out her life under that pretence.

'I want to be a real boy!'

As I said, Data and Adrien are both like Pinocchio, trying to be ‘real boys’.

At the end of Data’s life, it didn’t matter whether he was made by a scientist or by organic means. He touched people’s lives, and that made him real in all the ways that matter.

Similarly, if Adrien got snapped away, people would remember him. They would mourn him. It doesn’t matter if there’s a body left behind or not. He too has touched so many lives, and that makes him just as real and important as any organic human.

In these ways, I believe they both succeed at being 'real' regardless of how they came into being.

I bet I could think of more parallels if I tried, but this has already got long enough :)

Uploading her mind to the cloud was a bit of an adjustment for Marinette at first, sure. But once she`d gotten used to her new android body, it wasn't so different from her human life. At least, not until the day she put on those mysterious earrings she found in her bag. Now things keep levitating around her room, and messages she definitely didn't write herself keep popping up in her diary--something about a kwami? And someone named Ladybug? Also, the new kid in class--the guy who put gum on her seat and never apologized!--keeps following her around spouting conspiracy theories. Meanwhile, shouldn't someone do something about the new supervillain attacking the city? Or: What if Marinette wasn't human, couldn't communicate with her Kwami, and Adrien had to figure out how to explain to his new partner that she's supposed to help him save Paris with the help of a tiny god she can't see or hear?

I had this discussion with my friend regarding the sentimonster status of Adrien and while the ambassador said that it's canon, the scene in Mirsculer episode stood out the most with us because it seems to be proving otherwise.

Case of point : Sentimonster will goes berserk upon making a contact with Cataclysm, Adrien didn't.

The answer that I get when I I asked around about it prior to s5 is that :

The Cataclysm is a fake and it didn't have the same power as Chat Noir.

The suit protect him.

I once saw Astruc tweeted regarding the first answer : No, the cataclysm isn't fake. It had the same power and strength as Chat Noir's and the second point is proved to be wrong or not 100% true either considering Monarch got the damage from the cataclysm and it slowly killing him.

In fact, Adrien's reaction and his comment about his fractured (broken?) Ribs in that episode is basically the same as what happened with Gabriel in s5.

We're just confused because at one point the show seemed to give up proof that Adrien isn't a sentimonster while other moment the fandom seemed to give us proof that he is.

I'm asking because you're one of the rare blog that seems neutral enough in discussion so I hope you won't mind if I ask if those hints that I keep seeing about Adrien is sentimonster in concrete enough as evidence that he is or it could be read as ambiguous hint?

I'm sorry if you had similar question before.

Ok, but mind you, I haven't watch past Transmission as I want to follow this season in order as much as I can. So if I am missing elements that come later this season, this is normal and I ask people who would want to reply to this to NOT SPOIL ME.

And just to make it clear for those who don't know me, my stance about the SentiAdrien-theory is the following : I may not overall like it because of some elements, but after Ephemeral, I have accepted SentiAdrien is implied enough to be real despite no official verbal confirmation in canon so far. In other words, to me, SentiAdrien is present in the subtext, but I don't like some implications related to it that comes from my own interpretation as viewer of the source material.

Anyway, let's re-establish some facts first. We know that Cataclysm causes something "bad" to happen to whatever it touches depending on its nature.

Against most superpowers, Cataclysm neutralizes them. It can even destroyed an alternate plane dimension like we have seen in Pixelator.

For an object or machine, it will make it malfunction, break or rust to the point it can turned to dust. Uncanny Valley, for example, is a android who after taking a Cataclysm on herself stop functionning and the Lucky Charm was used to reboot her.

For living beings, Cataclysm effect are transposed. Bones will fracture / break or tissues will decay. Those are the two known and observed effects in canon. And just like an object can be completely destroyed because it is too much degraded, Cataclysm can potential kill a living being if the damages are unstainable for the body to function either instantly (see the Akuma in Chat Blanc -- which is a real butterfly at its core -- which is the closest we got of that) or on the long term (Monarch).

In the case of Sentis, the magic link with the Amok is severed, making them uncontrollable. And yes, the first modus operandi with all Senti created for battle so far by the Bad Guys is to go berserk as a result. Also, despite them cracked mark they get after tanking a Cataclysm as if they were objects, Sentis are ultimately living beings even if they more or less look like it and no matter if they are intended as a weapon or not. They are not artificial intelligent beings like Uncanny Valley.

Those are the facts.

Another thing we tend to forget, but Chat Blanc did Cataclysm himself during the alternate timeline. Instead of attacking either Hawkmoth or Ladybug, he turned his attack on him... before losing control of his powers. Months passed and despite this, physically, he looks fine. Which can make one wonder... if Monarch's body is progressively rotting after taking a Catasclym and Chat Noir's ribs were fractured until he was healed, what was Chat Blanc Cataclysm effect on him? Could it have been something else than physical? Of course, his unstable mental state later during his fight with Ladybug is mostly due to the trauma he has lived and the months of his solitude in this post-apocalyptic world he has caused. There is no way someone would remain sane of mind under the same context. But there is the possibility Cataslym contributed to that unstability as well. However, there is no way to fully determine it because it is not visible.

Now, time for my theory. I suspect how the Senti was created plays a role there. All Sentis are created from one emotion in the first place. And the Creator can shape and program the Senti however they want during creation. They can make them look a certain way, have skills or powers the creator has predetermined. The Sentis meant to battle against Ladybug and Chat Noir are most probably made to tank a Cataclysm. But while Cataclym can't physically harm a Senti created to be a living weapon, the only thing that remain with which it can mess under these circumstances is the Peacock magic itself.

So what if we and the heores are actually misunderstanding the Berserk effect? What if the Senti going berserk is merely the result of them being confused, scared or having their core emotion overtaking them because Cataclysm actually messed with their emotional regulation? In most cases, the Senti is created out of a negative emotion such as anger, thus why they tend to be mostly destructive.

And if so, it begs the following question : if the Senti was never created with the intention for them to be used in a magic battle and defend against superpowers, to just be and pass as a normal living being, would them being hit by Cataclysm actually have similar consequences to what actually happens with other normal living being as a possible effect? Making the body malfunction in some way instead? Of course, that doesn't mean those Senti are immune to become berserk. Just that Cataclysm has more options to hazardly choose from.

Anyway, food for thought.

Also, adding this because I expect this counter-argument to pop out, but in the context of SentiAdrien, the reason why Chat Blanc didn't vanished despite the Twin Rings probably being turn to dust judging by the state of all Paris citizen in that alternate timeline including Hawkmoth, is probably due to the fact the Twin Ring wasn't in one piece when they were destroyed. Just like the record disk in Crocoduel. Breaking the parts separately doesn't release the Akuma in this context. The object needs to be broken as one for it to happen. And Akuma and Amok work roughly the same, so there you have it.

Clawdia - child crab person from a crab person/human relationship. she has a human exoskin to look like a normal human girl. she insists she is human at first before coming to accept her identity as a crab person not needing to define her, though still wears her exoskin for ease of socialization. she tries to repress the crab people’s monotone voice because it embarrasses her though it slips out sometimes. She was originally brought into south park as a group of ‘new girls’ who were fellow crab children in disguise in an attempt to raid south park elementary, though she became smitten with Kevin Stoley and stood up against the other children for her own freedom because of her overwhelming emotions.

Adrien Mulligan - My version of the New kid from the video games, but more complex than that lol. Where as Nuk (nethernewkid^) is the main protagonist of TSOT, Adrien moves to town during FBW as a secondary protagonist. Adrien and Nuk are best friends, and inherently inseparable. He is a trans guy, selectively mute, and has several real psychic abilities -  telekinesis, psychometry, ergokinesis and psychic persuasion. He is the “Final product of bio-genetic artificial cerebral enhancement IVF testing”, and is linked back to Dr.Mephesto. 

Hershey Thatcher - A revamped old oc previously posted on nethernewkid, and is completely different now. Hershey is an e-boy vlogger stereotype whos meant to be a play on fake e-celebrities planted by big corporations to seem ‘genuine’ and ‘authentic’ on social media sites. He has a youtube channel and is super full of himself and generally a prick. He’s also secretly not human and actually an android, his mind being comprised of the remnants left behind from Leslie after she was killed. Because of this, he holds a candle for Kyle and it freaks Kyle the fuck out.

my friend who i terrorized into watching miraculous with me is so smart she already figured out that something’s up with felix and kagami and adrien but she thinks they’re like some sort of androids or clones or something else made with technology. and she says that the rings must play a part but she doesn’t know how yet. i am trying to be super careful to not talk about emilie and her mysterious motive to use the peacock miraculous so she doesn’t connect those two dots to figure out that they’re actually sentimonsters before watching the reveal in the show. im!! so excited!!
