He’s been one of my favorite actors for quite some time but it wasn’t until the last few months something clicked and I really fell hard. He’s what I needed when I needed it, a gorgeous bright spot in the midst of a rough personal time. Diving into his filmography has been a lot of fun and at times even challenging. There’s a lot about his best work that pushes me out of my comfort zone and asks all the painful, awkward, worthwhile questions we should all ask ourselves—and even harder, it confronts us with some of the honest answers.

I’ve learned a lot about myself and other people and sexuality and fear/anxiety and how to be a real person in the world. And I’ve watched some really terrible movies. Most importantly, I’ve met some very very amazing people who love Jim too and we get to hang out on this silly website every day and have fun :-) I think the greatest thing art gives us is community (in many forms) and I’m just very grateful to James for being the center of ours and introducing me to so many wonderful people. And he isn’t too bad himself ! A pretty special guy :’)

Soooo happy birthday Jamesy, thank you for being you—you’re the only one who can get away with it. You’ve made the world a much stranger, much more exciting place in every way ❤️❤️

House in season 6 kills me. He's really doing better, and he's off the Vicodin, and he's seeing a therapist, and he's moving forward by quitting because he knows that that's what he has to do to keep this momentum going.

He finds himself a new passion, he keeps connecting with people, he tries to put his old, miserable life behind one step at a time - and then suddenly you hear "And yet my leg hurts". It hurts because cooking isn't enough of a distraction, because cooking can't change the fact that the guy has half his thighs muscles missing - a literal hole in his leg - and all they gave him to handle his pain was ibuprofen. He is surrounded by doctors, and he is one himself, and yet they're all failing him when it comes to giving him a proper, thought-out pain management plan, as you do with chronic pain patients.

Yes, I know it's a series, I know they needed excuses and arguments and reasons to keep the plot moving forward and the series running for a few more seasons. Who would want to see House outside of PPTH, happy (or at least marginally less miserable) and pain-free, working as a researcher like he wanted - offering the occasional consult for a diagnosis but keeping his distance with his old life? It could work, but then the series wouldn't be called House MD anymore. It would, however, have been more hopeful, more realistic, and it could have spared us the slow descent back into misery that were the latter seasons.

It's just very frustrating to see someone on screen really try to make an effort and turn his life around for the better, in spite of how scary that may be, only to be knocked down by everyone around him - and by life - again and again.

i think ill get over it but i actually never really get over it. watching hunted and literally cannot stop thinking about the way they're portraying Gordon as ruthless and Bad™ and an antagonist.

the thing about supernatural is. it will tell you what you are supposed to think about the person on screen. and you're not supposed to think beyond that. the bad guy does bad things but it's not his actions that make him a bad guy, it's the fact that we know he's a villain. many instances where the boys do the same thing the villains do, and yes, there's always certain. reprimand. there's a hollow conversation about how doing This Thing is bad actually..but then you're supposed to forgive them. because they're Good People. because they have Good Reasons. Trust Me They're Doing This For A Reason Okay My Name Is Eric Kripke And I've Never Lied A Day In My Life. it really is all about framing in supernatural. violence is violence enacted on an external party when it comes from a person who's already been judged as violent and evil. it is violence enacted on self when it's the protagonist. bc they're sympathetic. bc they told us they are..bc we love them and they can't be bad.

i don't know why out of all the gags in sdmi i lose it over this one probably the most, but oh my god

something about the combination of how quick and understated it is, the extremely dark and tragic surrounding context, the scene already being really obvious innuendo, and the fact that in the midst of all this they Had to put it in for This is a Kid's Show reasons before moving on with the murder plot and the murderers' abusive relationship picking back up where it left off. and that they managed to slip a gag in without lessening the impact of that or making light of it. it's genuinely deft and it kills me every single time
