DJ, if I'm being honest here, you're the only reason I give this man the time of day when it comes to mental character real estate JSKFJS

Wen Chao is a flat villain, right? The way he's presented in the story, that's the scope of his character, and he SUCKS. But as the story goes on, it turns out he is a low-level baddie, and he doesn't feel as terrible? It's about the framing. And as time has gone on for me, I'm able to see the dimension of him being a funny little man in addition to the nasty guy who committed atrocities, and I can appreciate him for that.

He is a blorbo-in-law to me, but he still doesn't take up much of my thoughts. I do think it'd be interesting to see what would happen to him in a different story, where he isn't just the villain -- or even in canon, to see what all is going on for him besides Bad Guy Things. But in canon HE DOES SUCK

Sometimes, when Xue Yang and Wen Xun spend the afternoon helping townsfolk, they'll leave Hexie (a very well-behaved child) to play on their own for a little while (somewhere nearby and safe!). And sometimes Hexie makes new friends while their fathers aren't around, and sometimes those friends are that infuriating do-gooder couple who brought Dad to trial for multiple counts of homicide that one time.
