In Lost Souls, Jim is barely able to read and write English (he can read more than he can write).

This is because he was six when he was kidnapped by Merlin, so he had just started learning. Kanjigar knows how to read a tiny bit written English (mostly used to sound out the human names of places) and cannot write it. He did pick up some picture books for Jim back when he was little though (Which is the only reason Jim remembers as much as he does). Merlin had no interest in teaching Jim written modern English since none of his scrolls or books use it.

Jim is however able to read and write fluently in Latin and Trollish and knows a little of some other archaic languages.

I think all Stricklake fans would have loved that tbh... Sigh, I'm a little mollified that the end of the movie made a point to show that Jlaire and Stricklake would still happen, but Stricklake should have been married and Jlaire engaged at this point though. 😭

Regarding your question, I feel for Strickler and Barbara it would be Strickler to propose, but he'd be SO nervous and expecting rejection, even if he knows that would not happen.

Jlaire proposal: DEFINITELY Claire. In no universe is Jim going to ask her first, and Claire is NOT waiting another two or three years for Jim to work up the courage.

And for Toby and Darci, probably Toby. He's confident in his and Darci's love, and she says yes instantly.

I've recently read your fic "Becoming the Mask" and fell in love with it!

For fun I was hoping to ask some questions, what would be Dictatious reaction to finding out Changeling Jim was his brothers adopted son if he hadn't lost his sight?

Ether while he was still in the Darklands with Jim and Blinky captured in the show or while in prisoned in Trollmarket like you summarized in your potential story summary.

Dictatious' first reaction, in any version, will be shock that Blinky has a kid. Time is hard to track in the Darklands, so realizing he's been gone long enough for his brother to have had a child (regardless of whether the whelp was hatched or adopted) forces Dictatious to recognize just how long it's been.

Learning the kid is an adopted Changeling is its own kind of shock. Blinky is okay with Changelings? Blinky acknowledges a Changeling as a real troll? Blinky considers a Changeling, a trained spy and assassin, to be a child? Has the Changeling regressed in behaviour and been acting like a child, or are they pretending to be child-like to manipulate Blinky?

Dictatious assumes Blinky is being manipulated, which disappoints him because he thought Blinky was smarter (and more paranoid) than that, but which is easier for Dictatious to reconcile than the idea that Changelings are child soldiers.

If the reveal happened with Blinky and Jim captured in the Darklands, Dictatious would assume that the Changeling's manipulation of Blinky's emotions would be why Blinky agreed to enter the Darklands in the first place.

With the reveal happening while Dictatious is imprisoned in Trollmarket, Dictatious is left confused why the Changeling seems to care whether Dictatious lives or dies. It can't be to manipulate Blinky, because Blinky has already washed his hands of Dictatious' fate.

Is it to put Dictatious in the Changeling's debt, since he has more recent information about Gunmar's plans? Is it some kind of power play, the Changeling enjoying having this kind of control over the fate of a troll who once outranked him? Or possibly the Changeling Trollhunter is trying to avoid setting a precedent for killing ex-Gumm-Gumms in order to protect himself.

It's a baffling situation for Dictatious. He does not like being baffled.

Reverse of Arcadia: Day 2

Woo, talk about an upgrade! Today was slow on the story mode, as I'm still in chapter 2 and haven't done progressed much beyond defeating two of the three duel gangs you fight as an Enforcer. For my deck, though, it's had quite an upgrade. So many staples! There was some luck involved, I got Sakuretsu Armor from packs relatively quickly, I got Giant Trunade while trying to find Torrential Tribute, and one of the NPCs was generous enough to give me a Lightning Vortex! I've still got LOTS to do in terms of defeating NPCs three times each, but I don't have to do that all at once, and honestly I'd rather do that when my deck is stronger anyway. But I've done a fair few! Certainly enough to fund the improvements my deck's had. I don't really know what cards to aim for next since I don't know what all is available, or will be available soon, but right now my deck is solid enough that I can afford to wait and save my cash. Heck, maybe I should start looking at Duel Runner parts! Though seeing as those only matter during races, I kind of want to spend as little on them as I can until the story is done and I have DP to spare on just making my runner better. The basic lowdown of my deck as it stands now is it's a standard Dragon deck focused on Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, with an emphasis on aggressive play. I've found I have an easy time against other aggro decks since few of them can stand up to mine, but more control or stall oriented decks can be pretty tedious to get through.
