— destiny
pairing : chishiya x reader
warnings : mentions of blood and guns
word count : 1.2k
summary : He finds you unconscious at the place where he usually stays
a/n : season 2 spoilers (mentions of Chishiya’s past)
Tumblr media
It was another successful game for Chishiya, who was now on his way back to his place. Although he solves the games easily, they tire him a lot so afterwards he wishes nothing more than to fall into the arms of Morpheus.
As he was walking down the road, he noticed small stains of blood that lead directly to his hiding place. It didn’t faze him, however he was intrigued where they possibly came from.
Chishiya slowly went up the stairs and the cold air was filled with a strangely familiar, floral smell. However, he couldn’t really tell where he knew it from.
When he entered the dark room, he slightly flinched at the sight in front of him. Blood was dripping down your arms and legs while you were laying unconscious on his mattress. Chishiya could tell you were asleep but your heavy breaths indicated that the wounds didn’t let you rest peacefully.
“Well, that was certainly unexpected.” He commented and was about to leave the room when he suddenly noticed something.
The room was swamped in darkness but thanks to the moonlight, he perceived a shiny bracelet on your left wrist. Chishiya frowned at the accessory, remembering how he gave the exact same one to his lover before he joined the Borderland.
It was a gift for your one year anniversary so he wanted to find something special and unique. Chishiya found a beautiful bracelet and when he went to buy it, the seller told him there were only two bracelets like this in Japan so your boyfriend knew he found the perfect gift.
Chishiya rolled up his sleeve and looked at his wrist which had the exact same bracelet that he saw on you. While he was carefully analysing them both, Chishiya suddenly felt a gun against his forehead.
“What are you doing here?” You asked, weakly seeing the person that was crouching down in front of you.
“I can ask you the same thing. That’s the place where I usually stay at.” He chuckled, amused by the situation.
Your heart skipped a beat after hearing his voice that was strangely familiar to the man you fell in love with, before you were thrown in this horrific world. Without wasting time, you reached to grab a flashlight and gasped when you recognised Chishiya.
He was blinded by the sudden light so you caught him off guard when you threw yourself in his arms, making you fall on top of him while his back hit the ground.
“I can’t believe you’re here.” You sighed, burying your face in the crock of his neck.
“Y/N?” He whispered, finally recognising your voice.
Chishiya ran his fingers through your hair and took in your floral scent that made him feel at home.
“You shouldn’t be here.” He said, gently grabbing your face in between his hands. “You should be in our house, peacefully reading your favourite book or dancing to the random songs you hear on the radio, not here brushing against death in some stupid games.” He groaned, not bearing the thought of losing you.
“I’m sure I’ll be safe now that I’m with you.” You smiled at him and leaned in to connect your lips together.
He wouldn’t admit it but you knew he missed you as much as you did by how firmly his arms were wrapped around your waist.
You completely forgot about your multiple wounds until Chishiya’s felt something warm and wet dripping down his hand and he immediately remembered the state he found you in.
“Wait here.” He helped you lay down on the mattress and went to grab the first aid kit he found in a store, while you turned on the small lamp you brought with you.
Although Chishiya saw your whole body more than once, he couldn’t help but get flustered at the sight of it after you took off your shirt that was practically soaked in blood and your pants.
“When does your visa end?” He asked while cleaning up the wounds.
“In three days. Today’s game was a mess that’s why I have a blood everywhere. The group against which my team was playing would throw the most random things at us and fight with us afterwards. Only three people out of 16 survived, so it’s honestly a miracle I’m now here talking with you.” You softly caressed his cheek.
“From now on, we’ll participate in games together. If one day, only one of us will have to survive, it will be you.” He seemed completely calm as such words rolled out of his mouth.
“We both know how much smarter you are than me so there’s a much higher chance that you’ll finish all the games. I want you to go back to the real world and start a family like you’ve always dreamed of. I’m sure you’d find someone that would fill your life with love.” Your own words hurt you but at the same time, you truly hoped the best for him.
“I don’t want to finish my life with someone else, I want you.” He protested and went back to clean your wounds in silence.
You noticed his bracelet and smiled at the fact he brought one for him as well in order to have matching accessories.
When you first started dating, he wasn’t fond of physical touch or matching couple things but with time he changed, after realising how safe and loved he felt in your company. Chishiya also realised how pleasant someone’s touch can be and how his death didn’t scare him if it meant the person he loves would survive.
Now, one of his hands gently caressed your skin to take your mind away from the wounds that could possibly be hurting you.
“Your wounds aren’t too deep but you have to rest a lot for them to heal quickly.” He put the first aid kit away.
“Thank you, doctor.” You chuckled and planted a soft kiss on his lips once he came back.
“I’ll bring you something to eat.” He was about to get up but you quickly wrapped your hands around his wrist.
“Stay here with me, we’ll eat later.”
Chishiya couldn’t resist so he laid down next to you on the mattress, being extremely careful to not hurt you. You couldn’t help but put your head on his chest and intertwine your legs together. Your sudden clinginess made Chishiya smile and he gently ran his fingers through your head, knowing how much it helped you to fall asleep.
“I love you.” You whispered, slowly drifting off to sleep.
His soft kiss on your head spoke a thousand words at once and you knew it was his way of saying it back.
As long as you had him by your side, you believed everything will be alright.

could you do some chishiya xf!reader? maybe just fluff and a few light touches, like him putting his hand on your thigh or your hip while the executives are hanging out <33

Thank you for your beautiful request! Im sorry if this is too short I wanted to try and start working on requests again and yours was something I thought I could do easily. Please enjoy and any feedback is appreciated! ♥️
Chishiya X Reader || ALWAYS.
Tumblr media
“There you are.”
You turned your head towards the sound of Chishiyas low voice.
You gave him a short smile. “Here I am.”
You focus your attention back on the site of the people beneath you partying by the pool, you was never a fan of heights but since being stuck in the borderlands it was always relaxing to be on the roof. It was rare anyone else other than you and Chishiya came here, everyone too busy with the luxuries of alcohol and food that the beach provided.
You instinctively moved your body closer to Chishiya as he sat beside you. Your head resting on his shoulder, the rise and fall of his chest relaxing you.
“We have a meeting and you know what the militants are like when they have to wait” he sighed, his hands fidgeting inside his pockets.
“I don’t want to go. Not after last time.” You pushed away the thoughts of the last meeting, although nothing could quite help you forget the terror of having Niragis gun pressed against your pounding heart as he accused you of being a traitor.
Chishiya nodded lightly, humming in response to your declaration. “I know but either way we can’t miss it. I’ll sit beside you.”
You smiled at his attempts of reassurance, Chishiya wasn’t the most affectionate person, he seemed complete cold and void of emotion to you and you had no interest at breaking that until one overly eventful game. It was a diamonds game, Chishiyas specialty, you had only been at the beach for a few weeks but he had already noticed you stealing glances at him. You was close to losing the game, the game that would determine wether or not you would be an executive, until Chishiya intervened and helped. Usually it wouldn’t be allowed but no one had noticed he has given you the exit code allowing you to win. That’s when you realised that underneath the stone cold exterior there was much more to him.
It took you a few more weeks to realise that it was only you he was more open with and only when you was alone. In the beginning the change between him caring for you and acting as if you could die and he wouldn’t be bothered gave you whiplash until one day you once again was placed into the same game and this time you helped him. Nothing prepared you for the way he missed you that night, it was almost something out of a romance movie.
You smiled at the passing thoughts of yours anc Chishiyas relationship, only remembering that you had a meeting to attend to as he began to stand up.
“You’re going already?” You sighed looking up at him.
He chuckled as he extended his hand towards you, “So are you.”
You let out a playful groan as you took his hand, allowing him to help you stand. You enjoyed small moments like this, moments that made the borderlands a place worth surviving in.
As usual once you was inside the building his slender fingers slid away from yours back into his pockets. You understood why he was this way, you could be used against him in a place like this and neither of you wanted that.
You walked in silence until you reached the small indoor elevator. “What do you think the meeting will be about today?“
“Probably just another useless attempt at convincing everyone that we need to follow Hatter and his ridiculous plan.” He laughed.
You smiled at the sound, in the past few weeks it had grown to be your favourite.
“And you think your plan is any better?” You asked as you pressed the button for the floor the executive meetings were held on.
His hand found it’s way to yours as the elevator began its ride. “Mine at least follows logic.”
You both laughed, only ending your small conversation as the doors opened. Chishiya squeezed your hand before letting go, once again providing you with some much needed reassurance.
The room grew closer with every step you took, your anxiety beginning to overwhelm you at the thought of facing Niragi, you had worked hard at staying as far away from him as possible and so far it had been working but that chance of hiding was long gone and soon enough you was entering the executive room.
The executives in the room turned to look at you both as you entered the room but instead of looking up you focused on the empty seats at the table , you walked slower, allowing Chishiya to sit down first before you took your seat beside him.
The meeting began slowly as usual, Niragi had arrived later and unfortunately the only seat available was the one directly opposite from you. No matter where you looked you couldn’t avoid the feeling of his gaze burning into you.
Hatter had been talking about the newest addition to his collection of cards for the last 30 minuets when he finally asked if anyone had and questions or updates, as usual Niragi spoke for the militants. Despite Aguni being the leader he barely spoke much at the meetings allowing Niragi to have free reign like a spoiled child.
Niragi always made an attempt to make himself the centre of attention, so him walking around the room as he updated everyone wasn’t unusual but for you it was much more uncomfortable after your last confrontation with one another.
You hadn’t realised you had began shaking at his presence until Chishiyas cold fingers placed themselves on top of your leg, you shot him a appreciative look at the way he was exiting his comfort zone to help you stay calm.
You had never been one to be scared of other people however Niragi was unhinged and everyone should at least be wary of him, even Chishiya knew that.
You relaxed more and more as his fingers continued to draw small patterns against your thigh. Despite the fact other people could have seen he didn’t stop, not until your body was still and your breathing was calmer.
Thankfully by then the meeting had began to end with everyone exiting the room, Chishiya tapped your leg lightly signalling for you to leave. You didn’t wait around, you needed to get out of the room before you went insane. You gave him another look before the door closed, as usual he was cold, his face void but the heat in your cheeks at the thought of his touch reminded you he was nothing but caring.
As usual you headed for Chishiyas room, he had given you the spare keycard when you first kissed, he claimed it was in case of an emergency but it had become routine that after every executive meeting you would both head back there and talk to each other.
It didn’t take long for him to arrive at his room, you had only waited for 5 minuets before he entered the room, his cold face breaking into a small smile at your presence.
You and Chishiya had never really spoke about the terms and conditions of your relationship or even if it was a relationship but it was clear you cared about each other.
Without thinking your legs began to move and soon enough you had your arms wrapped around him, the fresh smell of his clothes absorbing you. His hands lightly pressed against your back before his hands relaxed themselves on your hips.
You don’t know how long you stayed like that, choosing to allow the small bubble that you and Chishiya had created to absorb you both.
“I don’t ever want to let go.” You sigh, clinging to him a little tighter.
“You have to at some point we have to eat.” He humms shaking his head.
Reluctantly you pull away turning to head towards the bed but before you could get far his hand wrapped itself around your waist pulling you back towards him, your face against his, and within second your lips were colliding, his grip on your waist tightening as you place your hands around his neck.
You felt your face flush red as he pulled away, his eyes fixed on yours as his hand come up to your face.
“You’re always safe with me.” He breathed before pressing a small kiss on your forehead.
“Always?” You asked him back, your breathing out of synch.
“Always.” He muttered pulling you back towards his chest and suddenly idea of food was long forgotten.

Change of Hearts - Part 1
Tumblr media
Universe: Alice in Borderland Pairing: Chishiya x Reader Disclaimer: No idea what I'm doing. If you do, let me know. English isn't my first language either so...yas for me
┎┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┒
After the King of Club game, the group decided it was best to try and find the rest of the survivors that escaped the beach with them. If anything the game had taught them the importance of teamwork.
The objective was to stay alive long enough for someone to defeat the last face card and they knew that strength in numbers could be a big help.
"I'll go and find Ann." Kuina announced, getting up and stretching.
You looked at your friend and agreed. Ann was probably the one who wandered the furthest and Kuina was more than capable of handling herself.
Arisu cleared his throat and looked at you with hope. It dawned on you that he would not leave Usagi behind, leaving you to hunt the last group player. You rolled your eyes and nodded.
After a quick goodbye and a reassurance that no one was going to die, you and Kuina walked out of the safe haven you had built. She turned to you and smiled softly.
"Don't die." She said.
"I've made it this far." You grinned at the private joke.
You gave her a quick hug and told her the same thing, receiving the same answer from her. She waved, walking in the opposite direction you had chosen to pursue the white-haired man.
"We've made it this far." You sighed loudly and adjusted your trusted backpack, trotting along the empty streets.
• ··········· • ············ •
You found him at the Jack of Hearts game.
You found amusing the fact that he was trying so diligently to hide the fact that he was no longer the one who was pulling the strings. He was still cool and collected, using his hoodie to hide his features and shrinking back into the corners and shadows of the penitentiary. But something felt off about Chishiya's demeanor.
Having silently agreed to take Ippei into the fold, you kept a close eye on his demeanor when it came time to see each other's suits. He had also begun discussing the other participants with you. He kept you in the loop, telling you his theories and strategies in whispered tones and a casual stance.
You thought he only wanted a wall to spit words at. However, when he asked you for your opinion, you had given it to him, and he had listened.
But what you noticed most about him was the way he tensed when something out of his control occurred. Shoulders raised a fraction. A twitch of an eyebrow. A flick of a grimace.
You were snapped out of your thoughts when Urumi approached you with her sickly sweet voice. Chishiya stood next to you and you noticed his hand close into a fist as he crossed his arms. She tried to drag you into her group, most likely so that she could manipulate everyone to kill you. You mirrored her fake smile, as you replied to her.
"Sorry, but if I have to choose between two manipulative assholes, I'd rather stick with the smart one."
You noticed the clenched fist relax and a grin appear on the said asshole's face.
Urumi shrugged, walking away with her minions behind her. Their scared faces tugged at your heartstrings. Cannon fodder. Puppets on a string.
The man beside you hummed and you looked at him raising an eyebrow.
"Manipulative asshole," He said slowly, as if tasting it, and then shrugged. "I've been called worse."
You looked at it from head to toe and nodded.
"Doesn't surprise me." You smiled and turned back towards what was left of the participants.
And all the while you had noticed these minuscule changes in him, you were oblivious to the small glances he would give you. He would soften his features every time he saw you reassure Ippei they'd make it out. Or when you had given one of Urumi's minions half of a juice package. He had looked on, and observed you, his lips curling up into a sincere smile. Something he had not done in quite a while.
• ··········· • ············ •
After the game was over, you both walked out of the prison towards somewhere safe for the time being. You looked back at the blimp waiting for it to explode in the sky, but nothing happened.
"I think they're gonna keep it up until the Jack is dead." Chishiya mentioned looking up as well.
"In Osmosis it exploded when we left the harbor." You looked down at the wrist that had held the bracelet and Tata's mangled body flashed before you.
"Osmosis?" Chishiya asked, pulling you out of your reverie.
"Mmhmm" You nodded and looked at him. "The King of Clubs' game."
"You played a physical game? And won?" There was amusement in his voice that turned into a chuckle when you stayed silent, trying to remember what each suit corresponded to what type of game. "Maybe also keep away from the intelligence ones." He joked and you slapped him softly on the arm, making him raise his hands in surrender.
"Clubs' games are team work." You stated haughtily. "Something you may not know the concept of."
"Hey, we made it this far didn't we?" He put his hands in his hoodie's pockets and started walking.
"I'm surprised you're still sane after trusting someone." You stepped alongside him.
"You have a very trustworthy character." Chishiya proclaimed. He was being smug, with a smug grin and a raised eyebrow.
"Go catch on fire." You laughed at him as you both walked in comfortable silence until you found a small store to duck inside.

Does anyone else just really enjoy the friendship between Alice Cooper and Dave Mustaine? Their friendship is just so sweet. Alice personally approaching Dave after a concert offering his help when he saw Dave and Megadeth battling their issues, and Dave saying how much Alice helped him in his life. Dave talking about how much Alice did for him and that he was there for Dave when he was really struggling. The fact that the two are still close. Dave actually referring to Alice as his Godfather and saying “I love my Godfather Alice Cooper.” I don’t know man, I just love their friendship so much.

Risk It All (22) - Don’t lie, We aren’t friends.
Tumblr media
Genre: Chishiya x F! Reader, smut, angst.
Warning: mentions of abuse starting from “you don’t so someone has to.” You can skip this by jumping to “you watch his face as tears flood your own.”
A/N: I’m sorry to leave it on a cliff hanger 😭 I’ll write the other chapter up today/tomorrow for y’all 😭
Ch.21| Masterlist| Ch.23
Tumblr media
“I care about you too.” You whispered, your heart racketing against your chest. “I really do Chishiya.”
He pressed his forehead against yours for a moment longer, his breath heavy. “Let’s go.”
“Okay, where?” You asked, stepping back as he released your shoulders.
“There are a few stores a little further out, we could walk to the edge of the games, it’s likely the shooter won’t come that far out we will have to take back roads, we could stop in the house to gather whatever is there. Anything else we will get on the way.” You watch as he packs up the medical gear back into the small pouch of the backpack. “Are you okay to walk?”
“I’m yeah, fine.” You mumble, the pain slightly kicking in. “We can take the road behind the church a few minutes away, my dad took us a few times as kids.”
He looked at you almost as if analysing your opinion before nodding his head, slipping the straps over his shoulders. “You never talk about your dad.”
“You never ask. Besides what’s the reason for telling a story that holds no good.” You shrugged, regretting it instantly as your arm roared in a dull pain.
“Oh yeah, I should have mentioned that, don’t move too much and you shouldn’t have any pain.” He chuckles.
“You couldn’t have mentioned that before?” You hiss, cradling your arm.
His gaze is empty. “I could have I just didn’t, besides I didn’t realise I had to state the obvious. Stay here and let me check outside.”
“Whatever.” You groan, resting carefully against the wall.
You watch as he ducks his head outside the emergency exit, the electricity somehow disabling the noise of the alarm usually accompanied with the opening of the fire door. “It’s clear we can go just stay low and be quiet until we are a little further out.”
You watch the floor as you walk over to him, slipping out of the ajar door. “Do you think he is near?”
“I doubt it. There are no rules he can go whenever he wants, he is probably looking for the most populated area. The only way to stop him is to probably kill him but with all those guns it seems impossible.”
The faint sounds of gunshots linger in the air, the city smelling lightly of iron, of blood. “So what we head back to the house and then mountain climb? I think Usagi would be a better fit for that. Don’t you think we should find everyone else first?”
“That would be pointless. We would have to go back to the city and we would put ourselves and everyone else in danger to try and find them. Being in a group bigger than 2 is a risk, even us being together is a risk.” He explained, although his eyes were trained on the plainest of things such as the overgrown greenery or the rocks beneath his feet it was easy to see he was aware of everything. Anticipating the worst with every step.
“I guess you’re right, I just worry. Do you think they are okay?”
“How am I supposed to know, I couldn’t really care.” He shrugs, frowning.
“Seriously why are you such an asshole? I refuse to believe you were born like this.” You huff, kicking a stone at him. Regardless of the childishness of the action, you felt it was very much deserved.
“Because the world isn’t as good as you like to believe it is, you have misplaced hope.” He laughs lowly, shaking his head In bemusement. “It’s adorable actually.”
“I would take that as a compliment if It didn’t sound so condescending. The world has good you just have to know where to find it.”
“If the world is so good why isn’t your sister with you?”
You don’t know when you started crying but you felt the tears fall, the sentence enough to cause you more pain than a gunshot ever could. “Fuck you.”
“Oh come on don’t tell me THAT's what gets you upset.”
“You have no right to talk about her.”
“Well, you don’t so someone has to.”
“You fucking asshole. If you want to know so bad then it’s because she was different, she was blind and because of that, my father killed her. He hated her, hated that she was so independent despite her difference. My mother moved away when we were kids because she was tired of my dad hitting her, she couldn’t take us so she got another job in another country and left us behind. I tried to protect my sister but I couldn’t. One day he had too much to drink and within seconds he turned. He started hitting everything, there was glass everywhere. My sister was trying to protect me from him but he pulled her down the stairs. She slipped on a piece of glass and it killed her instantly. She didn’t have a moment of freedom from him. They ruled her death as an accident due to her blindness. He got away with a suspended year-long sentence for abuse. I left straight after and tried to live a good life, to honour her and to see the good in every moment of darkness just like she was for me. So yes I believe there is good in the world Chishiya because someone like my sister existed. Someone who despite facing the worst every single day came through it with a smile on her face.” You pulled out the necklace that had once belonged to her. “This is all I have of her, this is all that’s left of my family.”
You watch his face as tears flood your own. Maybe it was the blurry vision you had but for a second it almost seemed as if he was sad for you, upset. His eyebrows furrowed in shock. “That’s… quite the story.”
You realised then you’d given him exactly what he had wanted, you’d told him everything about the worst you’d been through. You knew he was smart but to trick you into talking about it was something else. “You did that on purpose.”
He laughed, nodding. “You are starting to understand me more.”
“I’ll never understand you.” You shook your head, tucking away your necklace with your good hand.
“I see why you believe in good now let me tell you why I believe in bad. I was a doctor before we all came here.”
“Your patients must have really hated you with your shitty bedside manner.” You rolled your eyes, he really wasn’t what you thought he would be.
“My patients were children and for the most part they actually liked me but regardless of what I did, I could only save the lives of those that had parents to bribe the hospital. Transplants weren’t given to those that needed it but to those that could afford it. I watched child after child die all because of corruption. That is why I believe there is no good. Because even when doing a job that is perceived to be good it is built on an ugly foundation.”
“That’s horrible Chish I’m so sorry. That doesn’t mean the world is bad, the place you were in was bad, the corruption was bad but the children were good.” You wanted to plead with him, to show him how good the world could be but even you knew he would have to see that for himself.
“You’ve got to let that nickname go.” He states bluntly. Checking around a corner as you continue your journey back to the small house.
“I couldn’t ever do that it annoys you too much. So did you become a doctor because you wanted to help people?”
“No. My parents.”
“Oh. Are they still alive?”
“Let’s not do that thing where we share life stories like we are best friends.”
“One second you worry about me the next you hate me, pick a side already. Are you SURE you’re not bipolar?” You laugh. Hoping to lighten the sudden tension between you.
“You confuse me and I don’t like that.” He huffs in irritation.
“Why?” You cock your head, your eyes were wide.
“Because caring in any situation is dangerous.”
You don’t press any more, leaving him to his thoughts as you consider your own. The walk is quiet, thankfully, with no close gunshots or dead bodies. The other games hadn’t seemed to have started yet. The indication lights on the other blimps are off rather than shining the red light as the King of Spades did.
You reach the new place you’d called home an hour or so later, the sun still bright in the sky. You turn to Chishiya. “Do you think everyone else is back home living normally? Having lunch? Playing sports?”
“I would like to think that this is some sort of mental thing, maybe our bodies are elsewhere. Maybe this is a drug trial gone wrong.” It secretly scares you just how little you all know, the world you are in is utterly different from the one you knew for the entirety of your previous life, the life that feels so long ago.
“Whatever it is let’s figure this out. So what we head to the mountains? I don’t think I can climb with my arm like this.”
“Well, then you should stay here.” He continues walking around the house, shoving things into his bag. “I’ll be gone a few hours and then be back it’s not a big deal you can just rest and make food or something.” Maybe see if you can find an old map and trace the borders that we know on it.
“You can’t go alone Chishiya.” You were firm, the thought of him going out alone scared you. “I’ll come with you it will be fine.”
He pointed to your bandages. “Let me check your arm.”
“You dressed it a few hours ago it’s fine.” You shook your head.
“I’ll go by myself then.” He heads towards the door, looking for a jacket of sorts.
“No, NO!” You shout making him turn to you. “You can check it.”
“Well, that was a short tantrum. Sit down.”
You take a seat on the small stool in the kitchen, close enough to the table so he can lay out whatever he needs. “I couldn’t see it properly in that building it will be safer to check it again.”
“Please just don’t hurt me.” You wince, already imagining the pain of the wound.
“I’ll try my best.” He is careful as he unwraps the bandage. “It looks deeper than I thought, I'll have to stitch it up.”
“Needle and thread stitch?” You feel your palms begin to sweat.
“Unfortunately yes. I have some numbing cream it should take away the pain.”
“What about pain killer?” You ask, hopeful.
“I have a stronger one here but you have to take it crushed up.” He explains, watching as you consider it.
“What will happen if I don’t?”
“It will take twice as long to heal and it could get infected. I’m sure even you know what that means.”
You hated how he sounded whenever he explained things to you, always sounding as though talking to an inferior child. “Why do you treat me like I’m so dumb.”
“How do I know you’re not?” He smirks, opening the painkillers.
“I studied literacy, I am a writer. I am educated. Stop acting like I’m so dumb-witted person because I have just as much knowledge as you do, maybe not in exactly the same way but I’m not unequal to you.” You wanted respect from him. Maybe too much.
You watch as he grinds them down, pouring them into a cup of juice. “This will take away the bad taste. Take them whilst I prepare the thread.”
You took the drink silently, gagging at the taste of the crushed pills but thankful for his idea to add the flavouring. “Chishiya how bad will it hurt?”
“I’ll try my best to make it easy just relax.” He explains, threading the needle.
“Will you talk to me whilst you do it? Help distract me?”
“Okay. Just don’t move too much.” You winced as he rubbed in the numbing lotion. “Leave it a minute and I’ll begin.”
“I’ve had stitches before but I was a kid in an equipped hospital and it certainly wasn’t like this.” You gestured to the table and then the window. He seemed to understand as he laughed lightly.
You watched as he picked up the needle, bringing it to your arm. “You know I was working the day I came here?”
You bit down on your tongue as the thread pierced the skin. “Fuck.”
“I know I know, don’t talk okay just breathe. It was late and I didn’t know what was going on. It was weird when I got here there didn’t seem to be so many people. I was supposed to assist a heart transplant for a child, it was the first time I’d actually seen a transplant to be given under the first circumstances. I wanted to be a doctor because of my dad, I thought I’d I became a doctor we would have more in common and he would have liked me a little better but that didn’t happen. It was an immature wish.”
You were thankful for his speaking, it served as a great distraction. “I’m sorry you deserved, ouch, you deserved better chish.”
“I said don’t talk.” He shook his head in disappointment.
“What do you want to do after we get out of here?”
“I’ll quit my job. I don’t know anything else I don’t think about it. There’s no point in thinking of a future that may not come you have to be present at the moment. You have to think for the you that exists now, not the you that will exist in however long.”
When he stopped to explain things without having a condescending tone it was easier to understand and accept things from his point of view, regardless of how warped it was. The you that existed now will be the you that exists in the future, but you didn’t tell him that. You couldn’t. “How much longer?”
“You’re all done.” He smiled, closing the stitch. “It doesn’t take long, how was the pain?”
“Better than being shot again I suppose.” You refrain from shrugging remembering the pain from earlier.
“How do you feel?”
“Really uh- dizzy?” You stood up, holding on to the table for support. “Chishiya I don’t feel good.”
“I know. I’m sorry.”
That was the last thing you heard before everything switched off, a darkness encasing you. When you opened your eyes it was dark, the sun had set, and the house was only illuminated by the small lamp. “Chishiya?”
You had no response and the lack of movement in the house only spoke to one thing… he was gone.
