kazuki, have u ever thought of having children??? hae u ever... thought about being a dad? 🤔 how do u feel when you think of being a dad?
@astremourante | me rn
---
"Don't you have literally anything better to do."
A cloud of smoke blocks the path from his eyes to the ceiling. The cord hanging from the lamp there is a fine irrelevant chain. It's a relatively old house, kept in relatively perfect shape. It has all the traits of a mansion: spacious, the wood is a rich dark colour, every door slides perfectly, every plant seems to mean something, every corner and corridor almost designed to make sure you grow smaller and smaller with each step, while the person guiding you deeper grows bigger and bigger.
You glance out at the internal garden and it's perfect.
And you feel like a bird trapped in a cage large enough to grant you movement, but never large enough for your wings to ache with the effort of reaching the sky.
Back and forth in two swings.
Birds are so fast.
You're so trapped.
Kazuki has never idealized nor romanticized the concept of fatherhood. He believes in the phrase 'everyone can be a father, not everyone can be a dad'.
The word 'dad' is silly and childish to him, suited to a boy of an age that barely reaches his knee, not for a man like him.
His father is father, if they're both feeling a little lazy, a little loose. It's about hierarchy and position and impression and perspective. Calling him by his title, even better, head of it all, the mastermind to have made an art out of the plight of others, like so many before him.
But... how many after him?
Kazuki blinks, slow and unfocused. Something is playing softly in the background. He saved an old radio from somewhere once, it's charming, it's in good shape, and the signs of age it does bear only add to its beauty.
He doesn't even like Matsubara Miki, he lies.
He's never thought about being a father, he lies.
"I'd want to do better," she's too cheerful for his mood, but perhaps the genre of her music dictates it. Hasn't this become a hit overseas in recent years? From Japan's 80s to the US' 2020s. Time is an odd thing.
"I'd want to do better... but I don't know what that means," his voice but barely louder than a drunken mumble.
"I wonder if my father ever thought of being a dad... if he ever thought of having children the way people normally think of having children," there's something almost poetic about how mundane it all feels. He could be in a small apartment in the belly of a large city, look outside and watch the skyline paint it a beauty far into the center where rich people live and move and thrive.
Listen to a train stop and go, not being able to see who's laughing down below the balcony, watch red and pale lights fade as cars move in and out of streets.
He could be standing out on that balcony, smoking his cigarette there, arms on the railing, warm and summery, wondering how much longer 'til the rain season begins, and then feel a tug at his leg.
The real Kazuki smiles, angry and small.
"If it made him happy... I probably wouldn't have any, if it made my father happy for me to have some," open defiance, a rarity.
He looks down in his daydream, and a child smiles back up at him.
She has a wicked little glint in her eyes, she's so much smarter than he'll ever be. Of course she will be, she's so much better than he'll ever be, and that's what being a parent should feel like, knowing you're nothing in contrast to the sight of your child smiling. You're just a vessel for their safety and you want to get it right and you don't deserve it.
Her lips widen into a mischievous grin.
When Kazuki notices who she resembles he sits up, grabs the radio, and Matsubara Miki can only manage to ask you one last time to stay with her, knocking on midnight's door, before her voice disappears in the shattering of components and the silence of a bad man's rage.
Kazuki is a bad man.
"No one like me should have children," he breathes at the wall he's now staring at.
"I have better things to do."

Artist Summery!
2020, 2021 And now 2022!!
I'm really happy to see how my art has become more appealing and how I've grown as an artist despite not having a teacher or someone behind me tutoring or anything, just by pure self experimentation and progress.
This year I believe it wasn't the best year for my art to shine as per the fact I haven't had the time to put into them as much as I would've like to, yet it's nothing I was able to control due to academics.
Overall still sorta enjoy the outcome of this year's resume.

I dig out all the 2020 arts to do so, cuz i didn't make one that year. In theory i could do such a thing for 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 but GODS i would be forced to dig out a LOT of old drawings and expose myself as a fan of some cringe shits Het*lia

Intro
My names Harper (they/he) and welcome to the Counting Decades blog! I generally like working on the world building for this universe even if I forget some things I wrote down and write something contrasting it.
I wanted to make it easier to find more about counting decades so I have created this blog for that use. If you want to see more art for it since I'm not reblogging everything here, go to the below blogs.

About
A passion project I made when I was 15 and have added more to when 2020 came around. My plans for this universe is so I can draw characters in it and to one day have it gain traction, I want to make a webcomic for it when I get time.
The main focus is on Aden. A serial killer with angry issues that despites basically everyone and wants to fix the world by killing all of them. At least that was his original goal in the beginning before it had changed and he fought or killed anyone that bothered him.

how i would run sm: Red Velvet edition
back to the series with the next logical group, Red Velvet. sm's first group after Exo and my ult girl group, similarly under a cut as per last post
triple debut (2014-2015): so to start, i actually dont mind Happiness as RV's debut and that its ot4. Yeri was really young, so i wouldnt really change those first two eras (Be Natural is my beloved but its a single and a remake so it doesnt count as their first cb in my eyes). what i would change is the schedules and some promo.
firstly, like Exo i think RV would have benefited from some sort of webtoon or lore comic starting at the second debut for ICC bc thats when we start to get hints that something in Cake Land isnt right. i have a lot of thoughts on RV lore/storyline which we will cover in the upcoming kwangya post (after nct and aespa posts bc they are integral to my version of kwangya).
second, Seulgi should have solo debuted in 2015 between Dumb Dumb and the lesbian christmas song (Wish Tree was iconic and we love Lee Jooyoung). shes been RV's ace since pre-debut, everyone knew and loved her and acknowledged her talents, and she was in multiple mvs of her sunbaes (Henry's Fantastic was the best). Seulgi being the first solo RV member feels right in every way, and while it would be very different than what we got for 28 Reasons, i think that might be partially a good thing.
the start of the success era (2016-2017): Russian Roulette was perfect and i have nothing to say about it. The only thing I would have done differently for them in 2016 was pushed for more solo/unit content, like station songs, vlogs, arts and crafts vids? like just stuff where theyre having fun and hanging out with no pressure. the main 2017 change tho is Joy solo debut. sm is so fucking stupid for NOT capitalizing on the attention Joy got from The Liar and His Lover, a show all about how perfect and amazing she is as a singer! like have her prepare and record between Red Flavor and Peek a Boo and have Peek a Boo pushed back a week or two. the concerts were a good idea, but they really should have capitalized on Joy's performance more. im still annoyed she hasnt properly debuted especially bc clips of her singing from TLAHL was what made me look into RV in the first place and why Joy is my girl ult of ults
Bad Boy (2018): id push Bad Boy back a little bc the time between PaB and BB feels too short, especially going by my plan. other than that, no major notes since the eras were pretty good and the concerts were a good idea. maybe a bit more of a rest after RBB bc of the short turn around time between that and the Japan cb + NA tour
ReVe Fest pt.1 (2019): the Ellie Goulding collab was amazing. ReVe Fest day 1 was a mess, and i say that as a Zimzalabim supporter. the styling was horrific and it all needs to go, the mv should have been more circusy and less performance vid imo, and the song is fine but maybe a less chanty chorus? ReVe Fest day 2 was good and idk why people hate Umpah Umpah bc it was cute and summery like it should have been. and then the Finale, Psycho was one of the best eras taken from us too quickly. i mean the only thing to change is to stop wendy from falling bc that killed the whole momentum and their careers for a hot minute.
the hiatus (2020): now to be clear, i am not blaming wendy for her injury or suggesting she should have come back early. its good she rested and healed properly and came back slowly to make sure everything was okay. every idol should do that. that being said, we should have gotten an ot4 album even if it was just a mini. the girls basically did nothing for a whole year waiting for her and it really did hurt them/their momentum. they should have had more solo content through the year alongside the like two group things, then Seulrene debut in june like originally planned, and then and ot4 album in fall or winter.
back on track? (2021): ot5 being at smtown was great and got everyone hyped to see the group after a full year of hiatus and they teased a cb at the performance. and then wendy killed the hype by doing her solo debut 4 months later with a ballady slow song. and she had the audacity to be like "omg i feel so bad for making everyone wait and then doing a solo" like girl wtf?? anyway gripes about her aside. Queendom was cute, but it felt lackluster after the long wait and felt more like a b-side than a title. also the mv/concepts teased all this magic and powers and a whole universe only to give us literally nothing after the first minute. why were they in a post office when the teasers were about the antique shop?? i would have changed the mv a lot to either expand on the magic or fit the teasers better.
ReVe Fest pt.2 (2022): sm cancelled the concert (rightly) bc the girls got covid but then never rescheduled bc there were "no venues open" even tho the same thing happened to dream and they got rescheduled in like two weeks so what the fuck is that about? um anyway they should have done a concert after Feel My Rhythm but also not named it ReVe Fest bc theres no point and they arent connected. ALSO FMR was beautiful and all but what happened to the ballet concept which wasnt in the mv and why did they not expand on the weird half story with Dark Queen Seulgi and the garden etc? also also FMR felt like a b-side too which was disappointing especially after queendom. and im skipping ahead to birthday bc that was actually the biggest let down of the year. the concept/teaser photos had literally nothing to do with the mv or song, the song itself was easily their worst title and did not sound good in any way, the mv styling wasnt great for pretty much everyone, the cake ver selling out before preorders even ended and before they showed us what it was/what was in it was super annoying. birthday is the biggest let down era imo and ESPECIALLY after the beauty of Wildside. Wildside was the only release in 2022 for RV that i actually 100% enjoyed from the style to the mv to the song to the plot in the mv. like it was perfect and exactly what we should have gotten as a Korean title and era. i would have absolutely done something similar for birthday, especially with the grunge outfits/concept
future plans/ideas: Yeri and Irene solo debuts, Seulrene cb, Joy actual debut this time, more solo schedules especially for the actresses, more Yeri vlogs, Seulgi cb with a better song, my highly indulgent KaiJoyYuta trio, an even more indulgent trio of Seulgi/BoA/Yunho, i think thats all i have off the top of my head.
next week nct u and the way nct overall would function before we get into the actual units

Review: Kahone Concept’s new indie-pop single ‘Amicably’ holds a deep narrative underneath the vibrantly bubbly instrumentals
Tumblr media
Indie-pop artist Kahone Concept takes his aesthetic inspiration from 70s pop culture and retro-futurism, aiming to create a raw and realistic project with his musical art that documents his journey regardless of his success. After he began gaining traction during the quarantine of 2020, Kahone accumulated over 500k Spotify Streams and 27k followers on TikTok, and now aims to rebrand slightly in this new era of his musical career to formulate a sound that feels most him at heart. Latest release ‘Amicably’ sets the tone for what we can expect to see from this talented upcoming musician, and it’s absolutely a work of art within itself.
Leaping straight into ‘Amicably’, there’s an immediate setting of tone from Kahone’s bubbly, bright instrumentals that’ll encourage you to dance and sway along like there’s no tomorrow. Dipping in and out with euphoric bass riffs alongside gentle acoustic guitar strums, the soundscape of ‘Amicably’ flourishes most with its unusual concoction of ebbing and flowing instrumentals that make it all the more exciting to listen along and unpiece. Echoey synth-esque beats boldly power their way through the track, proudly keeping the melancholy mostly at bay along with the jazzy riffs seen from a few different instruments. Despite that, there’s a definite hint of sadness buried within every striking note, particularly as the chorus sees a fade out of sounds to allow for the track’s narrative to be front and centre. Such a primarily lively, vibrant atmosphere is topped off best with Kahone’s own vocal performance, radiating a hint of torment in the choruses lower tones, before rising up with some much needed summery spirit for every verse. His wide-ranged and airy exploration of notes sells the dream of ‘Amicably’, expressing a natural charisma and charm that’s undeniably needed for such an anthemic tune. Kahone Concept has truly created a piece that masterfully dominates the indie-pop genre with something a little refreshing and one-of-a-kind, and no matter how much this groove riddled sonic experience can sound impressive in our words, it’s only right to put in your earphones and listen to it for yourself to understand quite how powerful it serves to be.
Quite aptly exploring the human instinct to deflect blame and preserve oneself at the expense of another, ‘Amicably’ does an incredible job at pairing a rather deep narrative with a sound that’ll have you mindlessly dancing along. Despite the immaturity displayed from such a quick-trigger reaction to save yourself above all else, ‘Amicably’ aims to remind listeners that your mistakes do not define you, and that nagging conscience that keeps you in check is there to remind you that you can always make things right. Penned from his own experience of getting broken up with, Kahone Concept explores the notion of how he played victim despite being a completely terrible boyfriend, and the growth that came with this heartbreak - such as teaching him how to love, care, and value those he’s with because that’s what truly matters. Speaking in third-person at times to perhaps reflect his deflection or allow for more truthful opening up, Kahone’s lyricism poignantly explores feelings like ‘Across the board there’s things that should be said, but he’s afraid if he’s fixed he’ll have nothing left’, which incredibly bravely pick up on Kahone’s difficulties with bettering himself when he’s so afraid this core part of who he has become will leave him with nothing left in his personality. Whilst this behaviour is certainly not healthy for himself or a partner, ‘Amicably’ is not here to sugarcoat any truths, in fact defining itself to be brutally honest while speaking up on the sometimes harsh truths of life that sometimes everything and everyone cannot always be perfect or make the right choices.
Added to the authenticity that is evident in Kahone’s music, this talented musician notes that “Whether I ‘make’ it or not, I’ll be doing this until I die, and the thought of the amount of cool songs I’ll make between then and now, is extremely exciting and why I do it.”
To enjoy your own youthful summer nights with a track to match, or to remind yourself that mistakes are allowed as long as you make strides to becoming a better person, you can give a listen to ‘Amicably’ for yourself here!
