This is just a post abt me dissecting Street for a moment

(This turned into me rambling about shit that happens to streets character so don’t feel obligated to read or anything)

Alright let’s start from the very beginning, back when he was in the house with his mom and dad. We learn from the flashback in season 1 that his father drank and his mother was the one to comfort Street after he got hurt.

I think that’s partly why it’s so important to him that he “saves” Karen, yeah yeah this is obvious, but I don’t think people account for how fast Street had to grow up and how that would affect things. He was 12 when his dad died, watched him bleed out, heard his mother beg him to lie to the cops and when he didn’t, he watched her get pulled away in handcuffs while Buck tried to distract him.

Then he was thrown into the foster system which we learn wasn’t easy for him from the Nate storyline, Street tells Deacon a story about how Nate taught him how to throw a punch (meaning he couldn’t even try to fight back with his dad) because other kids saw him as weak/scrawny so they picked on him. Then that foster mother died so Street got moved, there’s not a set number of times that Street states he got moved from house to house but I’m gonna guess it was quite a lot. As much as it sucks, there’s a lot of foster homes that don’t want a teenage boy with a history of getting beat up from other kids then eventually fighting back. It couldn’t have given him the best odds. So he just never had a place. Y’know a place for him.

We know from the episode where Buck tries to hurt himself that Karen doesn’t call on all of his birthdays and the only person that does is Buck. We honestly don’t ever hear about streets birthday other than that, and okay sure we don’t hear about most birthdays aside from Chris’s, but it makes me wonder if Buck still calls even after his attempt. It was obvious he was pretty checked out so he could’ve very well forgot, not that I’m putting any blame on Bucks character, I just wish we could see more of him and Streets relationship or at least how it affects Street.

When Street first joins the team Buck tells Hondo that he’s been trying “to help the kid” and “maybe you’ll have better luck” then we get the breakdown of Streets files about how he bounced from unit to unit in Long Beach and worked a lot of undercover. That honestly gives us so much.

He got moved from unit to unit, much like back when he was a child in the foster system. Just not finding where he fit and being more or less outcasted as reckless/impulsive.

I’m going to put in my own personal opinion that Street likes undercover so much because he doesn’t have to be himself. Yet he can also do everything on his own, undercover he doesn’t need to call people or work with a partner, it’s just him and some random identity. He gets put up in a hotel or a undercover apartment where he’s on his own, not even supposed to call the friends that he may have had in Long Beach.

Which brings me to his point, his friends/family that aren’t the team. There’s that tech savvy girl he’s been friends with for apparently a long time (she’s in the episode Hondo gets deepfaked) because they talk about how she was hacking/doing illegal shit on her computer until Street got her a job for the Long Beach police force that eventually fell through when the hiring requirements raised. And why would Street know that type of person in the first place?? Maybe it’s because he’s really tech savvy, which we see throughout all seasons, but I think it can lead to him more so being friends with “weird” people. It’s not a bad thing but it is different than how we see Hondo or Luca grow up. Street wasn’t the popular jock that they were.

Now the only other person I consider a good part of Streets life that isn’t the team, is Nate. My beloved Nate. He was Streets older brother, his protector in more ways than one. I am still upset that we never got to see flashbacks of the two of them as teens or at least had more screen time of Nate that wasn’t so ducking depressing. And oh my god Street finding him dead is so fucking important to Streets character.

He finds his brother shot in a bathtub then calls Hondo and tells him he’ll finish the case, for Nate. Which they end up doing with Nate’s help since he left things for Street before he died, but I never seem to forget what Street did when the bust didn’t work and Nate was dead. That drive he took, going to the bar Nate worked at and breaking a guys arm, for the second time, to get to the person responsible for Nate’s death, then driving to said person and admitting to Hondo that he was about to shoot that guy no mercy. But he didn’t. He talks about caring about the team and loving Molly as they’re still together at that point. He says his hands shook while he was undercover and the only reason it happened was because somebody brought up Molly.

he says he never gets shaky or breaks when undercover, he’s always been so good at it because he’s never had anything to lose, that now he has things to lose. It’s a great moment between Hondo and Street and one of my favorite scenes ever. But. I think that thought also scared Street shitless. Understandably, he’s quite literally been alone for his whole life, so, now having all these people around that he loves can be terrifying.

(Ik this is all to be for character development and it is but still, let me talk abt it )

Street doesn’t really grieve Nate in a way that’s showed a lot. He compartmentalizes which is specifically stated in season three (during bucks attempt episode) which fits his character very well. I can see it so throughly for him, he had to grow up too fast to deal with the things his father did, he was moving around and trying to be a teenager to deal with the bullying he got out through, he was always undercover or again moving to put any time into himself when he was a new cop, Swat was new and he was trying to prove himself so bad that he didn’t care about anything but that, then Nate dies and he can’t deal with it because there’s work and Buck needs help and he has to fix things with Molly and Chris is being weird and— basically the man never catches a break or gets to grieve.

When Karen dies Streets reaction always gets mixed reviews from what I’ve seen. Some are upset that he doesn’t care and that he kinda blows up in Chris’s face when she goes to check on him. Others think it fits and they wouldn’t change any of it. I am one of those people. Karen was manipulative/abusive/a bad mother, no matter how much time and effort Street put into trying to help her it never worked or even made a dent. He also didn’t want to even see her before she died, Molly was the one who convinced him to see her, which lead to the surgery he got for her, then her being in the hospital and dying anyways. It just felt like Street was doing the surgery against his will. He was very much content not speaking or seeing Karen before Molly answered that phone call.

Karen dies and Street already knows when Hicks calls him in, it fits his character, he’s expecting the worst with his mother which really drills in how bad her abuse is, Street goes back to work directly after finding out Karen’s dead. He doesn’t even know what to do for a funeral because Karen had nobody and they never talked about that type of stuff. Sure the team all out in effort to help him and go to the small funeral he did plan but like- can you imagine how awkward that must’ve been- nobody on the team liked Karen all for good reason but still, then you have Street who’s torn down the middle, on one hand she was a what he considered a good mother at some point and loved him, on the other she used him til the day she died. That funeral had to have been absolutely hell for everyone involved.

Okay switching gears back to when Street was growing up. We established he grew up quickly but I think he more or less raised himself. He was a loner to an extent and did most things for himself even when his parents were around. I can’t imagine Eddie was ever much help then Karen was most likely caught up in the drama with Eddie, that leaves a little kid Street to fend for himself. Then do the exact same when he’s out in a group home with kids who don’t like him and he doesn’t know anyone or trust anyone. He got to make do on his own.

You can see it in season one. The first damn episode has him running into a dangerous situation on his own without even a thought about the team. Why would he call them? He’s use to things on his own. It comes up so many times and I know it’s been 5 seasons but damnit I wish they brought it up again. It kind of stops after season 3 but also so does a lot of other things, Ahem the talks we use to get with Hondo and street are serverly lacking in season 4 and 5.

For fucks sake Street gets held on a hijacked plane in season 5, he has a gun to his head and gets a stun gun to the ribs and we get nothing. No comfort. More people were talking about how bad they felt for Chris because he was talking to some flight attendant. Mother fuckers he was taken Hostage. He’s just hyped up on adrenaline and avoiding the whole problem at hand. But even after everything, we get no scenes of anyone talking about. Chris was flipping her shit with worry and you’re telling me she didn’t at least ask if he was okay?? That she was that petty over some random girl?? No way. No. And if she was then Wtf.

(Aside from how much that episode annoys me) my point is that street never gets the comfort he deserves or even a little bit of it. When Chris leaves we get these heart-to-heart scenes with every single character but Street. “Oh they’re dating blah blah” don’t care, that’s the last episode the character is in and we get nothing because they’re gonna have an off screen relationship?? Bullshit. Bs. Oh and the stupid thing at the end where Chris gives everyone on the team something that reminds her of them but then street gets a “he has me” no. They could’ve made that so much more loving and sentimental. They built that relationship up for 5 seasons then destroyed it in season 5.

(This has just been a stupid rant that got off the original train of thought I was following but if you read it all, thank you)

It’s okay, rambles are fun to read. Anything that talks about a character I like is inherently entertaining by default.

I just realized how much I’ve been sending you asks, I apologize. This is way more than I planned but it’s just really fun.

That’s true too, about like the older guardians. I recognized that they’re harder to talk about like we do with the strilonde Guardians, so general thoughts about them are cool too!

It’s very sweet how much Alpha Rose cares for her brother :)

Mom and Bro are my favorite subjects, mainly because their history is so unavailable. It’s just pure speculation. We get hints of it with Mom because she works for Skaianet but Bro? What the fuck is his deal?

We can say the same thing for Alpha Dave and Rose and we can just assume they had a similar upbringing in some ways, but that just brings us back to “what was up with you guys??”

Okay, it’s Mom and Bro time because ofc I have to ask about them again. Still pretty interested in that traveling stuff that’s been hinted in your fic.

Also, I just reread some of the Bro POV chapters and I love when they hug. This one person I was talking to jokingly described them as the unstoppable force and immovable object. I thought it was the cutest shit ever. I just wanted to share that.

Hello sorry I put off answering this because I've been busy BUT

yes, alpha rose and dave are stupid codependent and it is tragic and silly but they'll be okay. one day.

(RNG canon stuff obviously) I feel like it would be spoiling what i call the (well i call it by my name but for simplicity we'll say my url) deserts cinematic fic universe where i just. have connecting plot points between all my works for no goddamn reason BUT

Basically the little headcanon is that Mom and Bro were on their own in their respective Places (New York, Houston) for the first thirteen years of their lives. Canon to the Skaianet logs (once again, cringe and bad but like, works for me thematically), Harley set them both up with financials, but we'll assume they didn't have real access to them. I like to think it was Nanna who eventually couldn't fucking take how badly these two little punks were doing anymore and insisted on intervening. Bro was up to some. Not good shit lol it involved swords. Mom was just being a brat somewhere

ANYWAY due to the obligations of the session and timeline they couldn't KEEP them (nanna had a husband and son and a job to do after all and harley is. well. harley) but they did a lot of VISITING, mostly flying to washington to stay with nanna for the summers, and sometimes bro would even get flown to new york if harley was in town. grandpa let roxy visit the island (once) but never bro. go fucking figure (though if hiveswap is to be believed he did have a creepy old house in the woods too LOL). it came to a head when they were 16, and nanna and grandpa decided they were old enough to be sat down and told about The Stuff (though in my world guardians always kind of Know though whether that comes with age or not, who is to say, but like, u know, basically laying out the feeling for them into a concrete idea.

grandpa tells mom that she's gonna be getting the house and stuff and then she and bro get into a fight abt it bc he loves her but he's so horribly bitter and jealous and already knows he's going to die yes i guess this is spoillies but whatever, and anyway that is how they like, friend breakup. Bro goes back to doing his fucked up sword thing, Mom waits for the house to be built.

once the house is built she invites bro back to new york but he's Different Now in a way she can't explain and it's so obvious his heart is all closed off and he just. sucks!!! god that guy sucks but i love him

ANYWAY YES they used to spend summers in different places but always houston, wa, or new york and stuff together! and they'd share a suitcase bc mom would constantly lose hers, so bro would always underpack so he conveniently had room for her.

what would've made the portwell break up SO much better is if we saw Gina actually be a "maybe" to ej.

The whole season we saw ej trying his hardest to be with her, even before the letter from his dad. It's not like he didn't want to be with her, he definitely did. ("A perfect show is how I stay with you.") But Gina was barely trying to help. Ej said to miss Jenn that he was underwater with the show and didn't want the others to know. But was anyone helping? No. Even his girlfriend who loves theater just as much and maybe even more as him? No. She saw the rcosl thing as a chance to make ej jealous instead of talking to him. Do I think Gina was obliged to help him? No, definitely not. But I feel like she should've recognized his stress earlier and talked to him about it.

She was never a maybe to him. Ej always tried his hardest for Gina, even when it meant skipping out on fun camp events during his last summer to be a kid. But ej was a maybe to her.

Corbin's line in color war "unless you praise nickelodeon, its going in the doc" is so funny to me bc of how many hsmtmts actors were on nickelodeon at a point

Josh, Julia, and Matt were all on game shakers. Josh and Julia had more minor roles but Matt was in like three episodes, one of them being the series finale I think.

Also, remember bella and the bulldogs? Matt was in a few episodes of that as Zach, bellas crush and eventual partner, I think. Idk I haven't finished the show yet.

Oh Matt was also in the weird nick movie (at least i think nick had something to do with it) Alex and me as the older brother of the main character. So yea, I'd say in between 2015 and 2018 Nick LOVED Matt cornett

And saylor was in an episode of Henry danger!

Few more thoughts and rants abt the show:

S1 chase. Specifically in the early episodes. Everything about him was just so adorable (except spike ofc). His hair, his voice, his outfits, everything just makes me want to squeal while kicking my legs up and down like a child.

Did Donald mention Douglas to tasha while they were dating? Like did he ever say "I had a brother, but he died a while ago." I'm curious.

Once I finished elite force, disney plus had the nerve to be like 'because you watched lab rats: elite force, watch lab rats" I DID AND IM BAWLING MY EYES OUT BECAUSE OF IT THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Sometimes I genuinely forget it's a kids show not only because of the multiple terrorists that show up, but because of how it changed my life. I think of chase, start to smile uncontrably, and then think 'oh right he's from a disney xd show'. It's just such a weird thought, you know?

Kaz's pigophobic line.

Naomi being Leo's half-sister and they didn't even mention him in the episode she showed up in.

Not sure if I already mentioned this, but why did Douglas and perry show up in more episodes than Donald. Also I think Adam was mentioned once and Leo was mentioned once if anything.

Elite force just refuses to acknowledge the existence of those two characters. In 'the list' when we see kaz playing with the bionic action figures, Adam's isn't there. Why tf not?

How to Not Kill a Ginger (High School Au!)

Part 5 to the series hehehe

Pairing: Childe x fem!reader

Synopsis: Childe’s stomach stirs when you take care of him, and he’s not sure if it’s because of his major crush on you or just plain old diarrhea.

Warnings: Swearing. Graphic descriptions involving the true idiocy of teenage boys.

Words: Abt 2.6k

Note: Sorry I sort of half assed this. I have big ideas for the next part tho ✨😮‍💨

If there's one thing you're sure of, it's that Teucer knows how to throw one hell of a tantrum.

Him and his brother, Anthon, under your watch, manage to get into a petty squabble that's been airing for the last fifteen minutes. You've done everything, from offering candy to promising an extra hour on the switch, but your efforts do not bear fruit.

What did you tell Childe again? Oh yeah, that babysitting kids was a breeze. Apparently it's not a breeze. Maybe something more like a shart. A chunky, messy one at that.

"Listen dude," You reason to Anthon, the oldest of the bunch gently. "Where did you hide his toy?"

Anthon sticks a tongue out at you, and you nearly cry at the intensity of the insult. "Not telling."

Your patience runs thin.

"C'mon Anthon," Tonia lectures from her chair on the table like the godsend she is. "Just give him his toy back. You're being so annoying." She's taking the words right out of your mouth.

"Not until he apologizes!" Anthon crosses his arms, huffing. "He ate my cheese string!"

"There are more cheese strings!" You exclaim, opening the fridge to prove your point. "I'm sure Teucer's sorry for taking yours. Just pick another one."

"But it's not the same! He took the last cheddar and mozzarella one, now there are only mozzarella ones left." He speaks in between Teucer's wails. You wonder if this is a daily occurrence.

Tonia sighs, gets up from her chair, and hands the eldest her cheese string. "Just take this and give him his toy back."

Almost immediately, Anthon reaches a hand behind the tv table and pulls out the miniature Mr. Cyclops, then throws it point blank at Teucer's feet.

Teucer wails louder.

You pinch the bridge of your nose, shoulders sagging under the stress of being a temporary teenage mother.

Then you take a deep breathe, voice booming over Teucer's cries, Anthon's grumbling, and the clicking of Tonia's tongue. "Let's make a cake!"

Everything in the room stills. Even Teucer's loud cries comes to a halt, and he inhales so sharply that the streak of snot over his lip goes right back into its origin.

You wince inadvertently.

"Poggers!" Anthon cheers, and his siblings join in, laughing and clapping in excitement.

Tonia's eyes widen in confusion when she briefly pauses from her rally. "Wait a minute. What are we celebrating? We can't bake a cake for no reason! It won't taste nearly as good."

Everyone stops to ponder.

Then you snap your fingers in realization, and the kids huddle around you. "How about a 'get well better' cake for your big brother?"

They erupt in cheers again, but you shush them gently, wink an eye for extra measure. "We have to be quiet! He won't get better if we wake him."

The three nod in understanding and begin shushing each other, failing to conceal their giggles.

As you watch them making their way into the kitchen, bounce in their steps, you can't stop the warm smile that reaches your eyes.

That smile soon becomes a frown of horror when Anthon cracks an egg over Tonia's head.

The cake is not half as bad as you thought it would be initially. Between mixing the ingredients and ceasing the kids minus Tonia from being menaces to society, you were able to find middle ground.

Eventually Anthon found interest in finding ways to lick the batter whenever you turned around, and Teucer found comfort in your left leg, latching onto it as if it were a life line.

Just like how Venti latches onto his stupid little bottle of wine disguised as a water bottle. Seriously, you’ve never talked to him sober, and at this point are afraid of what’s he’s like lucid.

Tonia had been the only one taking things seriously for the most part, except for the sprinkles-to-icing ratio. She drowned the entire cake in sprinkles, the mere sight adding on the ghost of an ache in your teeth.

It looks like twilight sparkles took a fat dump on it.

"Okay besties," You inwardly curse yourself for giving into Gen-Z vocabulary as you brush your hands on the apron. "I think we've done a pretty decent job."

"It looks so pretty!" Tonia grins widely, eyeing the edible pearls she strategically placed. She quickly strikes down a finger Anthon tried to poke into the icing, with the accuracy of a true warrior.

You shudder at the thought of Childe teaching her how to stab someone with safety scissors.

"Can we add candles?" Teucer asks, but Tonia clicks her tongue in distaste.

"It's not a birthday cake." She crosses her arms judgementally. The power in her glare reminds you of La Signora, strangely enough.

You ruffle his copper coloured locks anyways, and his grip on your thigh tightens. "We can add candles if you want Teucer."

He nods his head and snuggles deeper into the side of your leg. Your heart warms up considerably.

After the candles are poked in, you try to shrug him off. "C'mon dude, just for five minutes. You don't want me to drop the cake before your brother can get a bite do you?"

Reluctantly, he obliges, and runs off to help Tonia collect utensils to take up to Childe's room.

Anthon's on door duty, kicking away any toys that serve as obstacles in your way like a professional soccer player.

Once you four make it up the stairs in front of the designated room, Anthon doesn't bother knocking. He barges in like he owns the place, chin up high and a signature smirk on his face that he probably learnt from his older brother.

Childe fumbles awake, kicking the air whilst in shock by the chaotic sound of the door hitting the wall and Teucer screaming "Happy Birthday!" at the top of his miniature sized lungs as he runs in to plop right on top of his older brother.

His bewildered expression soon turns into something of a loving smile as he begins to process what is happening, eyes lighting up despite the deep bags that frame them.

Tonia places the plates on his side table, right next to the empty soup bowl you placed there earlier. She climbs up onto the bed as well to join in on the hug.

Anthon approaches at last, hands in his pockets as he coolly acknowledges his older brother. Instead of a bone-crushing hug like the other two are indulging in, his opts for a fist bump that Childe happily reciprocates.

Then finally, between the shield that are his siblings, his cerulean eyes land on your near the doorway, then trail down to the cake in your oven-mittened hands. He averts his gaze back to your own, and grins so wide his cheeks start to throb.

"Big brother! We made you cake." Teucer moves his head from his chest to face him. "So you can get better."

Childe's laughs ring in your ears, but you don't shy away from the sound. It's a pleasant, something that you wish to hear more of in the near future. Sure enough he laughs a lot at school, but the genuineness of it at home, surrounded by his siblings, stirs something deep within you.

"How thoughtful of you." He ruffles his hair, then his eyes widen as he ushers the two off of him. "You guys can't be near me! I don't want you to fall ill as well."

"But-but how will we feed you the cake without getting close to you?" Tonia frowns, and her two brothers nod in unison.

You chuckle lightly, approaching the bed with the cake in your hands. "I'm sure he has enough strength to feed himself. The hugs and kisses surely must've energized him."

To be honest, Childe's all green in the face and the last thing on his mind would be to indulge in the cake. You understand the feeling all to well. With his nose clogged up, throat all sore, there's no way he'll stomach it. It took a lot of nagging on your part to get him to finish the soup earlier as well.

He blows the candles anyways, clapping along his siblings and letting Tonia drop a fat chunk of the golden cake onto his plate. You find it endearing, regrettably so. His dedication to keeping their dreams is admirable in more ways than you can count.

This is the same guy that wears meme shirts to school, topped off with douchey sunglasses to give him a pristine vibe. The same guy that punches holes in walls like a Kyle. The very boy that flexes his toned biceps in-front of you during lunch time, successfully ruining your appetite.

"Wait a minute..." Childe inspects the cake closely, narrowing in on the candles. "Why is there an eleven?"

Teucer scratches his neck sheepishly. "Those were the only candles we had left."

After another short-lived laugh, Childe manages a bite as everyone stares in expectation, the sound of a tight crunch enveloping the room, making you grimace in secret. If Childe feels like puking out his guts right now, he's doing a hell of a job hiding it from his darling siblings.

You're glad nobody forces you to take a bite, or it would've been a double homicide right then and there.

Soon enough, one by one the children file out of the room, satisfied with their visit. The reality is that they don't want to miss an episode of backyardigans.

Once they leave, you approach him with a napkin. He gets the gist, spitting out the remnants of the cake you slaved over for about two hours.

"Colour me impressed." You snort, moving the cake aside so you can take a seat on the open space next to him. "How're you feeling?"

"Amazing." He exclaims, eyes red like a crackhead's, nose runny, with goosebumps kissing his pale skin. He sure does look...amazing.

"Cool." You say, abruptly getting up. "I'm gonna vibe with the kid—"

His hand shoots out from underneath the blanket, clammy palms wrapping around your wrist to keep you locked in place. You gulp in anticipation.

"You kissed me." Childe reminds you, eyes twinkling in mischief, a vicious grin plastered over his stupidly handsome face.

You try not to choke on your words. "You have circumstantial evidence at most." No attempts are utilized to pull away from him.

He raises a teasing brow, and you give in because the tension is thick. Thicker than the tension between Albedo and Kaeya when the latter shamelessly unzips his front to show more of his biddies. You have no idea why he hasn’t been dress coded yet.

"Fine." You snap out of your impure thoughts, and huff out, frustrated all over. "I kissed you on the cheek."

"Yes. Also, cute nails." He points out, hand moving down to grasp your fingers. The act is intimate, his caress gentle and caring. Despite his brash, violent personality, he shows you a completely different side to him that hatches butterflies in your stomach.

"Thanks." You show off the bright jewels on your index. "You have a real nail technician in the house."

Tonia has some serious talent.

When he taps one of the jewels, you slap his hand away. "Careful there dude. These cost me a fortune."

His chuckles die down and he smiles again, but this time apologetically. "They didn't trouble you too much did they? I know they can be loud."

"I like loud." You answer him truthfully. "They're fun to be around. Not nearly as chaotic as you."

He blinks in mock offence, eyes narrowing shrewdly. "You come into my house, talk to my siblings, and have the nerve to insult me? Right after taking advantage of me?"

"If you don't shut up, I'll also have the nerve to rip you a new one." You reply dryly with the innocent curl of your lips.

"Bet."

You're about to lunge at him and scream a string of obscenities that no one has ever heard of before, but the Archons are listening and you don't want his siblings to grow up without someone to look up to. Wait a minute—scratch that. You'd be doing them a favour if you wiped his existence right here and now.

You have a fragile heart though. So you sigh, and grab a fistful of sheets in both hands instead.

Childe's grin turns into a petrified scowl.

"Oh no," He pleads, weakly fighting you back. "Have mercy! Please!"

You have loads of mercy. Just not enough for him.

When you have him wrapped in a successful bundle, Childe can’t help but beam, laying limp in his confines.

“What are you smiling about?” You inquire, pulling out the medicine from his box, pausing momentarily in shock. “Wait a minute, don’t tell me you’re into these things you freak.” Head snaps up so fast you nearly suffer from whiplash.

He’s about to answer you but his words turn into a fit of shallow coughs.

“I’m into whatever you’re into.” Childe’s shrug is nonchalant. “Even if that means I have to be tied up. Kinky by the way.” He winks, and you roll your eyes, cheeks flushing in embarrassment as you hold the spoon up. The dark reddish medicine swirls in deep hues.

“Shut up and open your mouth.”

“Girlie, I don’t think you understand how contradicting that statement is.”

You momentarily wonder if it’s too late to abort yourself.

Childe awakens at the crack ass of night, sweat slick, sticky all over, tousled hair sticking to his forehead. He’s a panting mess, eyes darting around the dark room, inhaling, exhaling, mind in a haze from the fever. Gaining somewhat of a grip on reality, he fumbles around to turn on his lamp, throat parched and in need of water.

When he manages to find the switch, he recoils at the brightness, adjusting to the sudden change in his vision. On his side table, there’s a bologna sandwich tucked safely in plastic wrap, a glass of room temperature water, and a bottle of painkillers.

His eyes disregard most of the things, finding interest in the bright pink sticky note next to the painkillers. Unable to ignore the dryness of his throat and the pounding of his head, he quickly gulps a pill down with most of the water, instantly feeling the relief of hydration.

Then, he pounces on the note, giddiness overtaking him despite the pang in his muscles, and the general feeling of absolute shit.

I had to leave. Don’t worry about your siblings, they’re all tucked in and fine. Except for Anthon maybe. Apparently he’s mildly lactose intolerant and thought it was a good idea to overdose on chocolate milk when I was busy with Teucer. Anyways, get better soon stupid.

He safely tucks the note under his pillow, edges of his lips turned upwards, warmth flooding his veins when he takes another look around his surroundings.

The room itself is cleaned, floor cleared from the initial clutter and the cool shiny collector’s knives he buys off of Amazon safely hung over the wall, not littered on his desk like they usually are.

The homework he was supposed do, but most likely wouldn’t, is already completed, stacked neatly atop each other.

Childe swears his heart bursts in his chest, exploding into tiny particles that overheat his entire body.

There’s no way in hell a few days worth of homework is gonna bring his failing mark up, but then again it’s the thought that counts.

While the sandwich is catered to his nausea, bland and plain for easy digestion, an easy fill, it’s the best meal he’s ever had in his life.

Today was the day. Kusuo had proposed to you only a few days ago, and you had to say, it was the happiest day of your life yet. Honestly speaking, it still didn’t feel real. Kusuo Saiki was going to be your husband. You knew for sure he’s the right person for you and there was no doubt all your friends and family would be super excited for you both. It was a dream come true, and you’d never been so sure you made the right decision. You hadn’t told anyone yet, opting to go the engagement party route instead. And that was why today was such a big deal. In a mere couple of hours, you’d be breaking the news to everybody. The plan was simply to hold the party in your shared house, as you knew Kusuo would prefer a small get together rather than a large scale party. You were placing the last few things in place when your fiancé came into the room, walking up behind you and wrapping his arms around you.

“Y/N. They’re going to be here soon,” he grabbed your left hand, admiring the ring on your finger, “Is everything ready?” You leaned back into his touch, appreciating how much he cared about this gathering despite him not wanting to make a big deal out of everything. You had put a lot of effort into this. For Kusuo’s sake, you decided not to just announce it right off the bat, it would be better to do so near the end and in a calm fashion. You knew his opinions on drawing attention to himself had not changed much over the years, and your shared friend group was still blissfully unaware of his powers. Even so, he just didn’t see the real reason behind making a huge deal out of something. Yes - this really was the most important decision of his life, and he didn’t regret it for a second - but he didn’t feel the need to make it a huge event. You understood but still wanted to do something special to celebrate. Kusuo was not one to deny you of that and was happy enough to help you set something up.

The doorbell rang, ruining your small moment. You were rather excited to see your first guest. It had been a long while since you’d seen most of these people, considering you both had to work and adult life, in general, is always getting in the way. It made meeting up difficult. You made sure today would be doable for everyone invited. It was crucial as many of your loved ones came as possible. You’d made your way over to the door opening it to reveal a few of your friends, Nendou, Kuboyasu, and Kaidou.

“Hello, everyone!” You greeted, “Please, come in!”

An unorganized chorus of “Hello Y/N.” rang out from your friends' mouths as they walked in. You, unlike your fiancé, were overjoyed to see them, looking forward to having this party. None of them really knew for sure why they were there, but you counted on them not asking just yet. You’d only invited people over under the pretense you wanted to host a get-together and missed every one. Your excuse had been generally accepted, and many of the people involved had been meaning to plan something like this anyway. As you all got comfortable in the living room, sitting down and catching up, the doorbell rang yet again. In a rush, you got up to answer the door, now welcoming in Saiki’s grandparents as well as Teruhashi and Yumehara. The rest of the invitees came soon after, including Hairou, Saiki’s parents. Now you were only missing Kusuke Saiki, Kusuo’s brother (who may or may not have been given a time just a little later by Kusuo, the less he has to see him the better).

The party was really just getting started. All your guests were thankful for this time to relax - escaping various parts of their lives, whether it be children, jobs, or other obligations. The atmosphere in the room was so lively and energetic, near-constant laughter as everyone was re-experiencing the joys of their distant high school days. It was clear how much everyone missed each other, the group had grown so close over those years and all of you had hoped that it would stay that way after high-school ended.

Kusuo’s family was catching up in their own right, his grandparents taking advantage of this chance to see their eldest grandson (who had arrived, but Kusuo was doing his best to avoid him). His parents were thankful for the chance too since Kusuke still lived in England. Even that group was vibrant in its own right.

Now that all the guests were happy in their own right, Kusuo had taken to being glued by your side. A lot was going on in the room, and you brought him a tranquil, peaceful feeling. As he was standing near you, while you happily conversed with Kuboyasu and Yumehara, you looked as if you were glowing. He never, ever, forgot why he proposed, but he found himself finding more and more reasons why he was glad he did every day since. There was a small part of him that was looking forward to this announcement. Kusuo was snapped out of his thoughts when you grabbed his hand, gaining his attention.

“Are you okay, Kusuo? I know there must be a lot going on in the room right now. If you need to go for a bit I understand.”

Wow. You must be more perfect than he thought. “I’m okay. Just got lost in thought. Let’s tell them soon, yeah?”

You teasingly smiled up to him, “Someone is excited now, hmm?” you communicated to him through your thoughts, knowing he was listening. His eyebrows went up ever so slightly, “And what if I am?” your smile grew just enough to turn into a small smirk.

“Then I win.” You whispered out loud, but only loud enough for Kusuo to hear. You lightly punched him on the chest, before walking away to talk to some more of your friends. At one point, you even slid into conversation with Kusuo’s family. Recently, you had not really seen most of his family, other than his parents. It was nice to visit with them and see how they were doing.

At some point, the majority of people had made their way into the general seating area, forming one large group. Some were making small talk still and others were just enjoying the environment. You had made your way over, sitting down with everyone else, Kusuo following suit. He held onto your hand while sitting, you could tell he had honestly been enjoying this. Deep down, he did miss his friends.

You leaned in to whisper in his ear, “Do you think it’s time?”

He didn’t answer right away, thinking about it for a short moment before giving you a curt nod. Not wasting a second, whether it be out of pure excitement or rather making the announcement before Kusuo changes his mind, you were stood up and clearing your throat.

“We have something to share with everyone,” You said we, but Kusuo hadn’t even stood up yet, not that you thought he intended to.

“We’re getting married!”

The room erupted in cheers, you’re pretty sure you even heard Kaidou exclaim “I knew it!” at some point. Either way, so many shouts of congratulations were thrown at the two of you, it was a bit overwhelming. However, the grin never left your face. Kusuo’s mom, grandmother, and brother demanded all the details, his father was congratulating his son, his brother was doing his best to be happy for his baby brother (even if this was yet another “competition” Kusuo won). All of your friends wanted details too. You spared Kusuo’s pride and did not repeat his exact proposal, which had been the cutest thing.

In all the chaos, you were surprised when Kusuo pulled you into a hug and pushed his face into your neck. You felt your shoulder become slightly damp, though chose not to comment on it right now. You subtly rubbed circles on his back, whispering to him about how happy you were.

He lowly whispered as well, using his actual voice to talk to you, “I love you Y/N.”

“I love you too, Kusuo.”

When he pulled back from the hug, he was smiling too. The moment couldn’t have been more perfect for either of you. All the support from your friends and family was immense and amazing, and neither of you would ask for it any differently. This act warranted a small shock from the crowd, they rarely saw him this emotional. He was often only emotional when it came to you.

Dessert was had next, and Kusuo was even less willing to leave your side than before. Tonight, he had finally decided he wanted to celebrate his future with you. He couldn’t be more excited. Everything had gone so well, neither of you would even dream of asking for anything else. Truly, it was perfect. There was so much to look forward to.

Purgatory Squadron of the 135th Battalion

LEADER: Hook, ARC Trooper

Strict and dead set on doing things his way on the battlefield. A complete and total idiot loser off the battlefield. Kind and caring to his brothers and generally a nice guy. Loves playing pranks when they’re not in a battle. Is able to talk himself out of any situation, “hook, line, and sinker,” which is where he got his name. It’s the only reason he hasn’t been ejected from the GAR after the bullshit he does, e.g. attaching kitty paw imprints on the boots of the 212th battalion so when they ran into battle the footprints looked like a bunch of kitty cats gonna kick ass

SNIPER: Enigma

Quiet, calm, and collected. Knowledgeable about the whole damn universe, somehow. If there’s a strange trivia fact, he knows about it. Wins trivia night at 79’s all the time, to the point where some clones have stopped playing when they see he’s there. Strong and intelligent, but much prefers following orders as opposed to giving them. Trusts his brothers with everything he has, and often works with Double to get them into the med bay or to Colonel Novak when they’re hurt or sick.

PILOT: Drop

Complete absolute big dumb idiot man. Happy, excited, but has no brain cells whatsoever. Terrible influence on Crash, who follows what his ori’vode say despite Drop being the dumbest motherfucker in the galaxy. Often makes a bad joke to his brothers while they’re walking down the corridors to their barracks and tries to high five a random clone walking past in the other direction to celebrate. Announces every landing by saying, “prepare for drop, fellas!” The squad thought this was hilarious and made it his name.

STRATEGIC ANALYST: Brix

Can be A Bit Of An Ass. Snappy and generally annoyed with everything and everyone. Just wants some peace and quiet, and WILL tell your ass off if you ruin that for him. Here’s a secret: he’s really a total softie!!!! Genuinely loves his brothers, and is also very very VERY focused on making sure the squad saves as many lives as possible. Overworks himself to the bone. Has terrible anxiety when it comes to the idea of him NOT knowing a piece of information that’s important for a mission. Can’t imagine being the reason his brothers are ever in danger, and has had bad experiences with losing innocent lives in the past. Works closely with Enigma to stay updated on everything he can possibly know, just in case he needs some minute piece of knowledge three years down the road.

FIGHTER: Double

The mom of the group. Keeps his brothers in line and makes sure they’re taking care of themselves. Is in charge of rations and duty scheduling on missions, but his work in the latter is always checked over by Hook. Regularly complains that he’s the only one that actually does anything off the battlefield, he’s fucking looking at YOU, HOOK, for fuck’s sake you’re an ARC Trooper, why does Double have to do all this? And another thing, why does no one know where to put their dirty laundry? Your used set of blacks should NOT be on the ground, why does he keep finding them on the ground? And sweet LORD they do NOT GO ON THE HOLOTABLE WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE ARE YOU FUCKING A N I M A L S OR SOME SHIT WHO DOES HE LIVE WITH THESE BARRACKS ARE FILTHY HES GONNA GO FUCKING MENTAL-

STEALTH/RECON: Crash

Youngest of the squad. Just wants everyone to be happy. Always smiling, always happy to give hugs. Super upbeat and happy, very supportive, and just happy to be included! Tries to be the one to protect all his older brothers, but ultimately they’re all just feral fucking guard dogs over Crash. The squad are all allowed to make fun of Crash. No one else is allowed to make fun of Crash. Trusts his ori’vode implicitly and will do what they say even if he has a feeling it might get him in trouble. He is Miles Morales watching Peter Parker with starry eyes, that’s his personality. Very much enjoys curling up with someone while he sleeps, so the squad either takes turns cuddling up with him or it’s just a squad cuddle pile depending on if everyone needs some love or not.

6. underrated character

my no. 1 underrated character will be yod and rang duo. yes, they are one obv cus they share le braincell. yod and rang are the supportive duo for both phupha and tian tho their interaction is limited and usually just there for some comedic relief. with phupha, they become his trusted men. they don't judge phupha for having different taste and instead, annoy, tease, and joke the hell outta him abt his crush on tian. they offset dr nam's effort in supporting their chief.

with tian, they are the good, neutral older brothers that can see beyond his intention and worry. love how yod still talks rather nicely to tian at the school and rang doesn't act impulsively towards him when he tries to rescue chief. they also brighten up every party set for tian and help him with the kids.

not to mention, yod and rang encourage phupha to express his feelings with so much subtlety like asking phu to tell tian to stay longer and add with "the kids love him too". it's like a gentle nudge to phupha in contrast with dr nam's hard smack on the forehead, that you guys should communicate, dumbasses in love. also, their small teasing noises got me mushy mushy cus sometimes it really translates, "wear protection, my dudes" i can't XD

when the gang walk tgt, they become the F4 of phapundao, change my mind. yod and rang are also the tension breaker whatever that comes out their mouth becomes a laughing stock. im so in love with them.

10. fav hands scene

Y'ALLLLLL IM COMINNNNN

this is asjfksllsfjls where i lose it. lemme tell you what i see from this moment. phupha's heart is being represented by the ring, so basically, phupha tells tian to keep it safe and hold it close to him. phupha can't give anything but his heart that also means his whole life (cause if your heart stops beating your life ends right). so, as long as tian keeps it, it is his. phupha is tian's. but it does not oblige tian to be kept. if tian wants to throw it or bury it because he already has someone else to love, he can dispose it. phupha is no longer tian's.

tian's hand represents him and his own heart. like i said before, as long as tian keeps the ring to him closely, he is keeping phupha. it's also telling us that tian's heart is actually stronger than phupha's because phupha's heart is vulnerable and sensitive from all the deaths he saw and loneliness. it needs protection, it needs warmth, it needs companion. and tian can give it just right.

phupha's hand wrapping around tian's represents him and his heart. with his bigger build and older soul, he will protect tian who holds his heart. if tian dies, he will die too, maybe not physically hurting. but his heart will surely numb. he is the patron, he acts like an older and wiser person. if he sends tian away, it's due to his experience. but his heart? he actually can't take the pain, he hates to let go of tian and that's why he asks tian to keep the ring. just by that he is assured, he will be close enough to the person he loves.

additionally, this is the adult approach i was talking abt in one of my post. phupha is very lowkey asking for a marriage, a life long partner. but the closest thing to marriage he can do is giving the ring as the ring represents unending loop of commitment and love. so, yeah.... my fave hand scene.

39. one thing id say to all the crews and casts

i love you, all. sincerely. for making me feels again. small aof and big 'aof' and all the screenwriters, you guys did so much lord work and break so many thai drama rules. atots is such a beautiful piece. all actors, youre all brilliant. how you internalise your respective character is just so damn good. you are passionate about your role and that makes them alive. all technicians and field crews who went up and down the mountain, the hill, the waterfall, carrying heavy loads. your dedication and sweats for this drama are going to be paid back. so many times that you will be satisfied and remember atots as a good memory. i just love this masterpiece so much.

BET! Also I’m going to also write this like a modern/mundane thing just simplicity’s sake. Also I’m gonna add a trigger warning here for abuse bc,,,,, writing abt anything tht also deals even partly with Kagura’s relationship with Naraku involves abuse

Modern AU Kagura lives with her shitty older brother (Naraku) who makes her do shit for him. Girl’s got some real PTSD and she just wants Freedom. She has a tendency to, when free, go to high places and just stare at the sky. She loves rooftops. She also secretly feeds all the birds in the area by leaving them seed on the roof. They all know her by now and come over when they see her.

Kikyo is a nurse that once took care of Naraku. He tried to ask her out but she turned him down and he’s still really fucking bitter and he won’t shut up about her and how much he loves hates her. She became really closed off after a bad breakup with a long term boyfriend (Naraku spread rumors about both of them so it was,,, nasty bc both of them were super hurt) and doesn’t really Talk To People anymore.

Kagura honestly doesn’t care about her brother’s whining and never even met Kikyo. She only has one friend- Sesshomaru who she’s like maybe a little in love with but also she doesn’t know if it’s actual feelings or she’s just starved for any positive attention. (She also kinda sees his adopted kid Rin as a friend but like big sister type friend she can’t rlly vent about her issues to a literal child).

At one point Kagura gets,,, very fucked up by her brother and it is The Last Straw. So she escapes and gets to Sesshomaru’s and he has no clue how to deal with the situation but she is Injured and refuses to go to the hospital and so he reluctantly calls his half brother and is like “I need your ex girlfriend’s number.” It’s a,,, bad conversation but he gets Kikyo’s number and calls her to ask for help and she obliges.

And so Kikyo shows up and Kagura can’t help but be like “oh so there’s a Reason Naraku can’t get over her she’s Gorgeous.” And Kikyo recognizes Kagura’s name and Immediately feels bad for her bc she can guess what happened.

And then Kikyo ends up lowkey forcing Kagura to go home with her bc she can take care of her and Kagura reluctantly agrees. And through this the two end up becoming friends and after Kagura has healed up they just end up as roommates (whenever Kagura isn’t flitting around from place to place that is. Girlie can’t stay still.)

Kikyo figures out pretty early on how messed up Kagura is from how she’s been treated her Whole Damn Life and at first she manages to convince herself that she just wants to help Kagura heal from her trauma and that it isn’t anything super deep. Meanwhile Kagura has admitted to herself that she has a crush on Kikyo but bc she can tell Kikyo is still reeling from her last breakup she convinces herself it’s nothing more. This does not stop her from “jokingly” flirting with Kikyo though

However she isn’t equipped for when Kikyo starts flirting back in her own, quiet way. It’s not even flirting as much as it’s just... Kikyo showing Kagura she genuinely cares about her. Kagura isn’t used to people actually genuinely liking or caring about her- much less showing it and it throws her off. But eventually it starts to dawn on her that... Maybe... Maybe Kikyo likes her?

And then there’s Kikyo who has known from the start Kagura was attracted to her (this has been made explicitly clear) but... It took until after she saw her ex with another girl, having started to move on and find happiness, that she realized “huh I can do that too. I SHOULD do that.” and accepted her own feelings for Kagura that she started paying More Attention and thought that maybe Kagura’s flirting was an attempt to hide her true feelings behind shallow attraction.

Kikyo makes the first move. Kagura would never have, she would’ve never been sure when Kikyo would be ready for a new relationship. But when Kikyo makes her feelings clear Kagura happily tells her that they’re reciprocated

Franziska Von Karma

How I feel about this character- FRANZISKA LITERALLY SO AMAZING...I love how she’s introduced as just as terrifying and cruel as her father, but then you see that she really does care about helping other people throughout her determination to avenge Edgeworth and to help Phoenix save Maya in Farewell My Turnabout despite taking a bullet to the shoulder (such a good parallel with her father on its own!)... and then with the scene at the airport she’s is allowed to be emotionally vulnerable without being any less of a competent prodigy of law! She’s just... so fucking cool I LOVE HER!

All the people I ship romantically with this character- Maya Fey! I love the contrast between both of their personalities making them seem like total opposites, but when you look at their connection to a family legacy it becomes obvious they have a lot in common. I wish the games had expanded on their dynamic more, but unfortunately lesbians are oppressed :(

My non-romantic OTP for this character- VON KARMA SIBLINGS... Mieke I know you agree with me on this! They grew up with the same terrible expectation that come with being a prodigy, and so they’re really the only ones who’s can comfort and understand each other... they obviously both feel such an obligation to protect each other and it makes me so CRAZY UGH. BROTHER AND SISTER!

My unpopular opinion about this character- I don’t think this is an unpopular opinion but I wish she’d kept the shorter hair design from the concept art where her hair is slicked forward to contrast with her father’s slicked back hair, not only because I’m a lesbian and that hairstyle was SO GAY but because I think it could have highlighted or even foreshadowed how she differs from Manfred. Maybe since she hasn’t been able to abandon his influences by Justice for All it wouldn’t make since for her to have such a “wild” hairstyle, but I think that if she returns it would be amazing to see her with that hairstyle to represent how she’s moved on after a decade.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon- SHOW HER DENOUNCING MANFRED VON KARMA FOR REAL. I can understand that it would take time for her to fully accept that her father was not as admirable as she’d been least to believe, but by this point in the timeline I think it’s time for that aspect of her character arc to be resolved. The natural conclusion of her development requires her experiencing the same acceptance of defeat as her brother, so I really hope that if they bring Franziska back at some point she’ll be allowed to admit that her father was awful and that victory isn’t an indication of worth.

Rex Raptor

How I feel about this character- HE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IN ANY PIECE OF MEDIA EVER. I know that he isn’t meant to be a deep character at all and he isn’t given much narrative focus at all but he is just SO DAMN ENDEARING TO ME OKAY. I have an unhealthy obsession with how he is initially introduced as being crass and inconsiderate while Weevil is more polite and strategic, but then it turns out Weevil is a total asshole while Rex is just... a kid who likes dinosaurs and duels for fun? Like even though he’s a total dumbass (the best character trait) who can be a bit rude (not even mean-spirited if we’re being totally honest, like most of his remarks are just him being snarky), the manga describes him as “having to the spirit of a true duelist” and he never really seems as bitter about losing as his counterpart Weevil (except in the Season 4 filler arc, which although I adore for giving me so much more Rex content, makes a lot mistakes by characterizing him as basically interchangeable with Weevil... BUT that’s ANOTHER STORY for ANOTHER DAY). I mean he has more justifiable reasons to be upset than Weevil given how he was LITERALLY cheated out of the Battle City tournaments by Espa (which Mokuba the official rule enforcer LETS THEM GET AWAY WITH and then doesn’t do ANYTHING to compensate Rex), and he STILL tries to warn Joey to stay away from trouble despite him being the guy he supposedly dislikes because he took his best card, totally disgracing him and ruining his entire career. I could keep going but this paragraph isn’t probably already sickeningly long and I still need to be able to make posts about him in the future, so in a nutshell... he seems like a funny and good kid. OH AND WHEN MAI ASKED HIM THE “what can you see but cannot see” RIDDLE AND HE ANSWERED TAKOYAKI BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE THE DOUGH ON THE OUTSIDE BUT NOT THE OCTOPUS ON THE INSIDE? LITERAL CUTEST SHIT EVER KING OF COMEDY I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU. Ahem. Sorry.

All the people I ship romantically with this character- Weevil Underwood. They’re both teenagers who got famous, let it get to their heads, and then lost everything... considering that they seem like the types of kids who would be bullied relentlessly (they're already constantly being made fun of by mostly of the character anyway), I think the fact that they end up befriending each other is a good sign that they can find some comfort in each other and discover other things to be fulfilled by beside card games. I love how even though this friendship is framed as a begrudging alliance between two self-servings jerks half of the time, the other half of the time it’s about best friends starting a shit together for petty reasons and always being by each other’s side no matter what. The way that they tease each other constantly but then always stand up for one another when others pick on them... it’s so obvious that they actually really care about one another! I just love their dynamic so much it’s unreal, hence the blog.

My non-romantic OTP for this character- Although I primarily think about his relationship with Weevil, there is still a lot of potential to be explored with other characters! Mako is another minor character obsessed with a type of animal, but where’s he differs from Rex and ESPECIALLY Weevil is his sportsmanship, being able to become friends with Yugi and Joey even after being defeated by them. I think that difference mostly comes down to Mako being significantly older than Red and Weevil and therefore having more perspective on gaming fame, so I feel like he would be a great influence on them. On Rex specifically, I think Season 4 missed a big opportunity to expand on Rex and Mai’s relationship. Mai had been a major contributor to Rex losing in Duelist Kingdom, but now they both feel like washed-up failures. I think given the circumstances they could have comeback to an understanding, maybe even have Mai apologize for throwing him under the bus to screw with Joey? I think showing Rex that not everyone who has wronged him in the past had/still has bad intentions would be really good addition to his character arc in Season 4. Then of course there is Joey... to me, the main difference between Rex and Joey is that Joey is stupidly lucky while Rex never seems to catch a break. Otherwise they’re both recklessness dumbasses who prioritize brawn over brain, but Joey is nevertheless able to triumph through sheer dumb luck while Rex gets anihilated over and over with basically the same strategy (minus the RNG cards, Joey’s strategy is just big monsters after all). While the previously mentions she relationships were hypothetical, this dynamic between Joey and Rex is actually given some focus in canon, and I found it very compelling! I only wish this difference between them hadn't only been used to increase Joey’s confidence in his skills as a duelist (which I will remind you is mostly LUCK, no offense to Joey because I do love him BUT I MEAN... only being able to beat Rex because of a lucky Time Wizard isn’t peak strategy ), but to develop Rex’s character somehow as well.

My unpopular opinion about this character- JUST LIKING THIS CHARACTER IS AN UNPOPULAR OPINION MAN... tons of people hate him so much! I know he isn’t an important character at all but he isn’t nearly as much of a jerk as people make him out to be, and I mean even if he was he’s just a kid! I won’t pretend that he is always portrayed favorably by the narrative, but the fact that some people feel nothing but disdain for a child whose accomplishments were robbed from him by forces outside of his control and who received no sympathy for it, causing his self-worth to deteriorate... it’s a bit concerning to me that so many adults in particular are so disgusted by that.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon- I’ve talked QUITE a lot already about things that I wish had happened to develop his character more, but above all else I wish his character arc in Season 4 had been given a proper conclusion. The writers set up this interesting conflict where the insignificant minor characters are upset that they aren’t allowed to be successful when the more important characters aren’t involved and shows the consequences that their defeat had on their lives and self-image... BUT THEN AFTER THEY’RE DEFEATED THEY ARE FORGOTTEN ABOUT FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON UNTIL THEY WAKE UP IN THE HOSPITAL AND INSTANTLY REVERT BACK TO BEING COMIC RELIEF GRRR GRRRRRRRR! There wasn’t no resolution to this arc AT ALL and it drives me UP THE GODDAMN WALL because it absolutely captivated me in concept... but like with many things in Yu-Gi-Oh! the execution was totally ruined :(

ANYWAYS, I’m finally working on the fantroll’s dancestors, and I’ve made my life simpler by having them just be their older siblings. Their names are: Elafus Ciervo, Rubria Papilo, Buinin Vaacaa, Felipe Montis, Eyoulf Zorroz, Adersi Pardus, Wadjet Kaarme, Ulrick Lobazo, Nannus Cennet, Kotkas Raptor, Grulla Labuut, Etelan Cheval, and Sunnon Velryb, and they’re supposed to be their own sibling’s foils, or just plain opposites

Elafus is a blind merc who totally lives in the shadows unlike Nemusa, who’s been living on the fringe of society. Elafus is more confident in her person and while she doesn’t go about saying that she’s a mutantblood, it’s not something she’d lie about when asked. Since she’s an assassin for hire, she doesn’t really stay in one place, opting to travel from place to place. She’s also got a blind cat. I wanted a cool assassin oc bcus I can only respect for real heroes who actually kill, so she’s a bit of a wish fulfillment for me. If you’ve got the bad guy right in front of you, and you know they’re gonna do more harm later on, just kill them? It’s that easy

Ok, so: I love cowboys, and plan on becoming one, and I’ve recently rewatched The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, and I’m reading a cowboy anthology book rn, so: Rubria, Buinin, and Felipe are all cowboys, and they’re basically the good, the bad, and the ugly

Rubria is the bad: ok so, Haidar’s entire arc has to do w the fact that he joined the mafia and his attempts at breaking free, and here w the dancestors, I wanted to explore that a little bit more. Rubria works directly for the mafia boss, he’s their right-hand man, and is sent to kill Buinin bcus she’s been a pain in the ass and a liability lately. Rubria’s an efficient killer, and he likes to mingle at clubs and saloons. Very conniving, usually always gets his way

Buinin is the ugly: I really liked that scene in TGTBATU where Tuco talks to his brother, who’s a monk, about how in their hometown, you could only get ahead in life if you became a priest or a crook, and coincidentally I had already made Itavam a religious person, so making Buinin the crook in the family was p cool. Buinin is a cow-rustler, and she’s been stealing from the mafia boss’ major storages. She’s very abrasive and heavy-handed, she’s a very focused and straight-to-the-point, no-nonsense person. She also likes to swindle people out of their money

Felipe is the good: dude I just really love Clint Eastwood. That’s basically the entire reason for him. Also me wanting to have more explicitly gay cowboys, but yeah vnfnvkjdnjsk. Ok, Felipe’s a smartass who knows he’s good looking, and uses that to his advantage whenever he’s on a job. He’s usually hired as muscle on farms, making sure bandits don’t get into the barns and all that. He also works as a guide, the reason why he moves around a lot. He gets tangled up with Buinin when he was about to shoot her for trespassing when she promised him lots of money if he helped her take out a sucker

Eyoulf, unlike their lil sib Botolf, lives at the edge of the forest, kinda prairie-like land. Think West Virginia. Eyoulf is actually more in-tune w their aspect, time, than Botolf bcus they work as the local horologist. They make clocks and watches, and is counting on their good work ethic and relationship w the townsfolk to not rat them out. They feel a bit lost, actually, bcus Botolf is so connected w the land and forest, meanwhile they’re keeping time, something that people worry about

Adersi, like Haidar, also got tangled up w the mafia, this time scaling the echelon to become their accountant. I really like the image of a very calm fellow just one day snapping, so that’s what I began with. He’s a very nervous man, a chainsmoker, trying to get his nerves under control. He keeps a gun on his person, just in case. He gets along well w the other cronies, but would rather Leave. He felt heartbroken when he heard that Haidar had also joined the gang. Kotkas, his gf, is helping him get out of this life

Wadjet is an army nurse, and the mood for her character is that beginning scene in Saving Private Ryan where Tom Hanks and the other soldiers are yelling for their medic friend, named Wade. I misunderstood his name as “Waye,” so the scene for me went, “Waye. Waye. Waye!” It was actually p funny, ok, so, Wadjet has been out in the cosmos, away from home, on the battlefield, for most of her career. She’s used to the dirt and grime, and basically only cleans her hands when dealing directly w a patient. Rat girl. She’s also a daywalker, like Euryyd, which makes her a valuable asset to the imperial army, saving fallen soldiers during the daytime. She’s a mother hen, always worried about her friends and her sister. When she enters the game, she immediately tries to find Euryyd

Ulrick is the alpha wolf of his pack. He cares and looks after the wolves, and makes sure they’re out of harm’s way. He’s kinda got blue/orange morality, but it’s bcus he’s been raised a lot longer as a feral child than Romuul, who’s had a steady exposure to other trolls and the internet. Kinda doesn’t talk, ruthless killer when need be, very gentle mountain man. He’s been surviving all this time basically by himself, w only Romuul as troll company before he left their pack. Good tracker, hunter

Nannus is not a jackass, unlike his brother Rajkaa. His being an actual kind rich person is based on every interaction I’ve had w born-rich Latinos, who’ve all actually been humble and kind and never minded getting dirty. Nannus is a very sweet boy, donates to charities all the time, and always makes sure to tip his waiters 20%. He’s also trans!

Kotkas is into politics and wants to use her status as a blueblood (high status troll, very long life) to get ahead and become an ambassador for lower-caste trolls. She also promises to bring stability w her long life. She’s based off of a very political friend of mine, who’s very passionate and aggressive. Kotkas is very soft around Adersi, but she’s fallen prey to comphet, bcus she feels that she must be w him. It’s a very heavy issue for her, bcus while she does love him, she doesn’t love him, and while she doesn’t want to use him as a pawn in her political campaigns, she’s found that it’s been of much help winning over the lowerblood vote, something that she feels very very badly for. She does want to help Adersi out. She’s a good person, she’s just tripped a few times

Grulla is a recovering addict who’s trying to get her life together, as well as Odette’s. As purplebloods, no one can really say no to them, much less deny them any goods and services. Grulla is very diligent, going to AA every week, getting support and trying to find out who she is. Odette still hasn’t realized the severity of her situation, and Grulla is trying to reach out to her

Etelan is very hedonistic and nihilistic. Since he’s never gonna become emperor, he figures that he can do w/e the fuck he wants, and no one can say anything because he’s a violetblood, you’re really gonna tell the prince what to do? No one can say no to him. He’s still also Sunnon’s bodyguard, but he doesn’t take himself seriously bcus he’s sure she can take care of herself (altho, he doesn’t stop hanging out w her). After partying way too hard one night, he lost the use of his legs and is now wheelchair-bound. This was the wake-up call he needed to stop and really think about his life and his life-choices. He was in a band, playing the electric guitar. Once he masters his aspect, space, he’ll be able to make space legs for himself

Sunnon is named for the Sun. Since she is the leader of their group, I wanted her to be the shining star for her friends, and I thought, “well, what’re the brightest stars, I can name her after one,” and I realized that. The Sun is a star. She’s very silent and precautious, she is next in line to the throne, and is anxiously waiting for the day she will ascend. Sunnon likes to dabble in the occult and wyrd, she studies legends and myths and would like to pursue them to become a witch, but bcus of her familial obligations, can’t. The game gives her the gift of her title, which is Witch of Mind. Now she can study all the magic she wants

lana condor. cisfemale. she/her. — did you see { dakota vu }, i haven’t seen the { twenty-one } year old in a while! you know, they’re a { record store clerk }, and have been living in jersey city for { eighteen years }. some say they’re { egocentric & facetious }, but i think they’re { affable & debonair }. regardless, i’m glad { kota } is here.

back in 1997, lan and huynh vu and her older brother, evan, welcomed dakota into the world ! while she was in fact born in vietnam, she didn’t live there long at all as they moved when she was only three to jersey city

moving to america presented better opportunities for dakota’s parents and they quickly made a better live for themselves and their kids in the town they began to call home

better opportunities meant more money and resulted in them absolutely spoiling their kids. they wanted to make up for the rough life they’d had back home, not realizing the consequences that spoiling them could have

they weren’t filthy rich, but the kids definitely got a couple toys every paycheck and got to pick where the family ate out every friday night. it was a good life for them, to say the least.

school was plain old school. kota had a few boyfriends here and there, made decent enough grades and even played on her school’s volleyball team starting in seventh grade. and she was pretty great at it, still is.

flash forward to high school, a time known for making first impressions. kota wanted to be popular more than anything. she convinced her parents to buy her only the cutest outfits, even getting a summer job at the grocery store to buy some herself. long story short, she made it to the popular crowd.

not to be that person, but kota wasn’t your stereotypical popular girl. she told the corniest jokes, to the point that people sometimes laughed just because it was that bad. loves memes and is proud of it. has the worst laugh that sometimes ends in her snorting. was actually friendly to those that weren’t necessarily in her crowd. people liked her well enough. who could hate someone that still made punny jokes on the daily?

nobody realized she had an ugly side until they got really close to her, or tried to. all those years of being spoiled had finally reared their ugly selfish head when people tried to go to her advice or have anything more than a surface-level conversation with her.

her humor was suddenly annoying when she applied it to any and every serious situation, cracking jokes at the most inappropriate times. she’d never had to worry about anything serious in her entire life, considering her parents made sure the kids never witnessed the hardships they had dealt with in the past. so her coping mechanism for anything that stresses her out is laughing. in her mind, it’s the best idea and results in the most easy-going day.

not only did she avoid anything serious, but she’d turn the conversation to her. how did her hair look? did they have that girl’s number who she’d made out with at the last party? any attempt at a serious talk resulted in a topic change, mostly to something about her. she loves talking about herself, considering she was so used to the attention being on her as a kid. somehow, she almost always turns the conversation topic to herself. it’s a talent at this point.

don’t let this deter you from being her friend, though. she’s not a terrible person, she’s just stuck in a phase of sorts ?? maybe she’ll occasionally get serious, but that’s only if she’s seriously wasted. however, she’ll avoid getting to that state as much as she can because she knows that’s when she slips up and gets real.

she’ll try not to show it, but she knows she avoids getting serious and she’d prefer to keep it that way.

anyway ! after graduation she went to a two year college literally just so she could tell her parents that she got some sort of degree

now she works at the local record store and acts like she runs the whole place ?? makes a lot of changes that the owner doesn’t know anything about which isn’t the biggest deal considering he’s mia

some random details are that she visits vietnam every summer to see her extended family, secretly really f*king loves playing video games ladkjf ( it’s her passion and she’ll play you over and over again just to kick your ass at a game ), kinda embarrassed by how she was in high school but will she admit it ? never

likes to flirt when she finds someone she’s interested in and isn’t afraid to let them know she’s interested ! relationships ? maybe one in high school if the other person was lucky enough to get her to settle down for a min

loves her family a whole lot and will 100% try to kick your ass despite her being 5′3″ if you mess with them, they’re the one thing she’s serious about tbh

loves vietnam so much, one of the things she holds closest to her heart and she’ll go on and on abt how much she misses it

unknown to herself, kota is really a mess like .. yikes. she doesn’t really know how to deal with any situation that’s relatively serious which is a big issue and will definitely screw her over one day

absentmindedly sings and sometimes gets caught by customers and she tries to act like nothing happened even tho it was definitely obvious that she was belting out i wanna dance with somebody

some ideas for connections other than the usual (best friend, childhood friends, first kiss, enemies, etc) !

high school ex. news spread quickly of the person that finally caught kota and they definitely received lots of nods of approval for being able to do it. could have been that they genuinely liked each other and once it started getting serious she ditched, or maybe they dated simply because they were both popular and it made sense.

breaking down the wall. despite her stubborness and refusal of it, this person keeps trying to get her to be serious and understand that life isn’t all sunshine. they want this for her and probably have a hell of a lot of patience to attempt to make her a decent person and eventually, help her find her way.

repeat customer. this person either really loves music or maybe just wants to see the girl who works there, who knows ? either way, they talk about music for hours and sometimes even go get food together on her lunch break. on occasion she’ll set aside a record that she thinks they’ll like. she appreciates them though she’ll never say it out loud.

high school friend. these two ran in the same crowd and for appearance’s sake, acted like the best of friends despite their occasional fights. eventually the anger boiled over and after graduation, they blew up on each other. it was so bad that everybody knew and now they won’t talk if they don’t have to. they’ll make small talk, still feeling the obligation of being civil from back in high school, but that’s it.

FAMILY. morag was born as the fifth kid to graeme macdougal and rosemary manahan, and apart from her four older siblings, she has one younger brother who is currently a fifth year.

her family is a union between a rather proud but neutral scottish, pureblood clan, and a proud and more proactive filipino pureblood family, that has been in the uk since the seventies. the word proud is key --- it’s what keeps both these families, and especially this particular branch, alive and breathing. being proud of their bloodstatus, but also their scottish and filipino heritage --- it’s their lifeblood.

her two oldest siblings ( evander and eithne ) are death eaters and her family has voiced support for blood purity in the past two years. besides her older siblings, they keep themselves rather neutral, though, hiding in the scottish highlands and every now and then moving a pawn on the chessboard called war.

her parents fell out of love a long time ago, and morag knows. she was another effort to rekindle their love, together with her younger brother and her sister. her father is absent, always working, always doing something -- making connections, hiding in his study, working on things and stuff. her mother is a present force, always around to give commentary and directions, with her sharp nails pressing in shoulders or cheeks.

the macdougals are a unit. they do love each other, truly, and they are very big on family related things. dinners, with everyone present, and days at the lake, and game nights.

morag doesn’t support blood purity, she knows that in her heart. she hasn’t actively shown it, though --- doing so, would have disastrous consequences, and she’s not ready to rebel against her family. she loves them, even if they -- and with them, she -- are on the wrong side of this. her mother is currently pressuring her to break up with megan, her half-blooded girlfriend (on which more later), which is putting her in more of a position where she has to choose. she cannot stay neutral of course, with the carrows at hogwarts, with some of her loved ones being considered filthy by her family ... but she wants to. it’s safe.

morag isn’t brave!! that’s what it comes down to.

HOGWARTS: morag went to hogwarts with a clear picture of who she was going to be. she was going with some older siblings already there, and lisa on her side --- she wasn’t scared. not really. sorted into ravenclaw -- which felt right, morag adjusted to hogwarts quite well tbh? the grounds reminded her of home ( and the country surrounding her house had always felt more like home than the building itself ) and there were plenty of familiar faces.

right of the bAT she wanted to prove herself. for her mother, and her family, but also to herself --- she’d been told she was a promising child, and so when magic didnt leave her wand as easily as it did with others, she became frustrated. morag worked hard, from day one. she wanted the best grades. wanted the teachers to love her. needed it. craved it. she had. to. be. best.

this definitely stems from her family’s way of clinging to blood purity. morag has been told all her life that she’s better because of her surname, because of her blood --- she just wants proof of that. she wants to be best, like her parents have told her, and not just ebcause of something out of her control ( though that was definitely not her motivation in first year ). anyway. i write more about that in her app but i will REFRAIN.

joined the quidditch team in her third year as a reserve chaser/seeker, becomes a chaser in her fifth and succeeds cho as seeker in her sixth year and becomes captain then. loves quidditch. she wants to be best there, too, of course, but it’s a way to blow off steam.

morag is taking five newt subjects because she loves overworking herself. well, she doesn’t love it, she’s just particularly good at it. she’s taking muggle studies, dada, potions, history and charms.

is also in charms club!

socially, morag is kind of there. people know her, because she’s been captain for a year, and she’s kind enough to have a good chat with. she’s not one to get into very deep conversations and such, as she’s very high-strung, and always running to something she has to do --- be it a study group, club meeting, the library or training.

is dating megan, and has been since around the yule ball. loves her. so much. i imagine they’re a quite well known couple as theyve been dating for so long now?? we love wlw!!!! her best buds are sue and mandy. her ex-best bud is lisa, who we dont talk abt bc she’s an asshole !
