🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?  So, the pre-history of my involvement in writing fanfiction basically starts when I was a grad student 20-some years ago, and one of the other grad students was writing a master's thesis on fan communities, so I got to learn a lot about early 21st century online fan culture from an academic perspective. During this time, on and off, I'd try to write novels, but always petered out after a bit, though I did "finish" nanowrimo in 2008, but never did anything with what I produced. At one point, I read the complete works of Jane Austen, and took advantage of my Netflix subscription to watch every single adaptation I could get my hands on. In terms of fandom spaces, around this time, I was also really into CSI, and was somewhat involved in a discussion board mostly talking about Grissom/Sara, but fanfiction wasn't really on my personal radar, and I was also starting to watch Downton Abbey and Mad Men and even though I had some (what I'd now call) post-canon headcanons, it never occurred to me to write those down or turn them into stories.

Anyhow, fast forward to 7 years ago or so, and my oldest had gotten obsessed with Frozen, and we had watched both Frozen and Frozen Fever. While babysitting a friend's kids at bedtime, the oldest had some decorations leftover from his birthday party, which were Frozen Fever themed, so I mentioned something about it, but he hadn't seen the short yet, so he asked me to tell the story. Anyhow, after the part with Hans being hit with the snowball, he asked me if Hans then went back to Arendelle. I said I didn't think so, but he insisted, so I started telling a story about Elsa sending him to the island of Elba after he tried taking over again. "And then he escapes?" Umm... well, it worked for Napoleon, so sure... then he returned to Arendelle, and then he got sent to St. Helena. "And he escaped there?" Um, sure, he got on a pirate ship, but first they sailed to the South Pacific, and he ended up ruling the island of Pitcairn...

So, after this, I realized that I had basically made a fanfiction, which I hadn't really thought about doing before, and it wasn't even for a character I liked, so I started thinking about Anna and Kristoff. I didn't really get very far because I wasn't involved in any fandom spaces yet, but fast forward to 2019, and I started seeing trailers for Frozen II, and by the fall, once I had burned through all the plausible spoilers on reddit, I had gotten on Tumblr and started reading kristanna fanfiction, and by November of that year, I had started writing a few different fics, one of which became The Young Diplomat, which I started posting around the end of the year. The rest is history (plus, um, writing was a very good hobby for the following year, let's be honest...)

Oh, and at some point I will rework my 2008 nanowrimo project into a kristanna modern coffeeshop AU. Because it really fits.

D. What type of tickles are you the most sensitive to? (Gentle, heavy, teasy, rough, etc.) Teasy and gentle! As I'm sure you've already noticed, slow and gentle tickling DESTROYS ME. Like, fluttering your fingers, slowly dragging your finger up and down the spot? Wow I flustered myself there 😳... but yeah, rough tickles usually just hurt. I haven't really had a lot of experience with them though, so maybe certain types wouldn't? Being poked also destroys me, lmao. And teasing in general.

F. What’s the best way to tease you non-verbally? Answered in the last one! Apparently a lot of people are curious about this, lol. I don't even know a lot of non-verbal teases that don't involve finger wiggling and like, feinting? lol

G. How often do you get tickled? For an extended period of time, probably once a week, like one day on the weekend. And it's still not enough, my lee mood is infinite😵‍💫 but like, quick pokes and tickles for a few seconds, probably like every day to every other day lol. How am I this spoiled and still this lee 🙈

🍬 an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character

I thought about this, and...I don't know? Like, do these count as unpopular opinions? (The last one definitely does I think, LOL)

In Inuyasha, maybe that I don't really like when Koga is made out to be a bad guy? Love him or hate him, I really don't think he'd be a dick to Kagome. The man stopped eating people for her!! He's not going to be mean or abusive to her.

Other fandoms...

In BNHA, I ship Todoroki with Momo, but really it's hard for me to write romance for him. He's probably my favorite character, but WOW he's kind of boring to write? I've only done two fics with him as part of the main ship, and the second one I really struggled because I just don't see him as romantic. Maybe someday I'll figure it out 😂

And...Haikyuu...I know he's super popular but I don't get what is special about Sakusa 🫣 It could be that I just haven't found the fic yet that shows me, but right now I just don't see it. Sorry 😢

I hc that Albedo has a bunch of silver fillings from cavities (despite his perfect hygiene) and he gets like super embarrassed and kinda internally upset when someone points them out

Albedo has to have some of the best hygienic tendencies out of any character mainly because I see him as someone who is a bit of a perfectionist about everything/has minor OCD. Cavities can still happen even if you brush and floss everyday, so if he were to get one he would be absolutely horrified and immediately try to find a way to fix it. Silver filling would be his choice if he were to get fillings because he’d think it isn’t as prominent and noticeable a color as other fillings might be, but if someone where to point them out he would definitely be a bit embarrassed that it was so easy for someone to pick up on it. I’d hype him up though, cavities are normal for people and silver is a pretty color! Him getting cavities is proof that he is just as human as anyone else and I think he would be comforted by that.

Louis, cause duh. He's my bae.

Antoine, sweet baby. He loved and adored and took care of Lestat for 10 long years while he was recovering from his burns, never once resenting him for spending the entire time pining for Louis. Just pure love there. It was exactly what Lestat needed at such a dark, painful time of his life. And I'm always here for a manic/violent musical genius with a tender heart.

David, I like him! He's got a dark/twisted side while still being so refined and classy. One of those characters who was thematically a vampire before he ever actually died. He drops anything to help Lestat time and time again, even when no one else thinks Lestat deserves to be helped. That's love, devotion. Yet, he's no sycophant with Lestat, he keeps it real, and says the hard things others are either afraid to say or don't care enough to bother. For a good while, he's the only person who Lestat can pour out his heart to who won't punish him (or think he deserves to be punished) for his messy feelings. The last time Lestat had someone who just let him be himself like that?? Antoine. Lestat needs this from *someone* in his life, and he goes through so many decades without it over and over again.

Santh, a good bloke. Responsible, wise, jovial, kind, and instantly devoted to Lestat and the Court because he sees the value in it, the importance in creating a community for people who all feel like outsiders that is built on love and fellowship, the opposite of how it was in his time in the Queen's rule. He'll become a magnate of the Court and get all the young vampires on the right track, so that none of them ever have to feel so alone again. And he has absolutely 0 hesitation to chop off the head of his own fledgling for not being on board with this positive community. Ruthless in the name of good.

Daniel. He stole Armand's attention from Lestat, so that makes him last by default 👿 But Lestat likes him, so I do too. He's smart, brave, and not afraid to go after what he wants. I've never been into him as a character concept, because he was a modern era new guy, and I'm here for the immortals with some centuries behind them, the ruffles and lace kind of vampires and their historical-era stories. But as a person, he's cool. I love how he's fascinated with other people's stories, not at all self-absorbed. Another one of Anne's rich kid fantasies, traveling around the world, staying at fancy hotels, and dining at the ritzy restaurants, yet still a down to earth guy, who just wants magic powers and to live forever. Who can blame him?

do you have a webtoon? And if so, do you know or read about "the princess's jewels"? if not, that's fine. But I would like a better scenario or maybe "worse" (yandere type) for the characters since they have potential but the story is not doing very well. As I already said, if you don't know him, there's no problem 😉

So after this, I speed-read as much of the series as I could. For anyone who’s not aware, the webtoon Princess’ Jewels written by JYUN and illustrated by Hong Cha, is about beautiful princess Arianna and her collection of men that help her fight for her claim as empress. Her ‘jewels’ consist of Nell, Efrit, Haun Beik, Raymond, and Jade. Now I might catch some heat for this and as someone who doesn’t read webcomics very often, my opinion might not be as developed as others but here goes.

I actually really like it. I’ve read that the trope of that maincharacter that just kind of has everything work for them was really bothering people, which I get. But I’m also a big fan of these types of stories as they are fun to cheer on and to watch evil characters or enemies be utterly defeated. She does collect these men like pokemon but in a way that makes it all the more thrilling as she effectively uses them to reach her goals. Big guns don’t mean anything if you don’t know how to use them and that’s what makes Arianna so attractive to me. This leads me to my next point.

How many people thought her character was that of a Mary Sue and to some degree I can see that. But to me I love her motivations and true feelings about things more than I want to see benevolent hero-type mc. Her motivation is lust. Their motivations are lust. People around them either reflect this same thing or a lust for power. Everyone’s motivations all hold some similarity to one another and for that I think the lesser evil would be Arianna. She fawns over these boys in the same way readers do when they come on screen. It makes me like Arianna more as she works to hold herself together. Not to mention when it comes to words in nobility she can hold her own pretty well; she’s cool like that. And I like the ambiguity that comes with some of her decisions. Is it lust? Or her motivations to take down her father’s concubine? Is it her being genuinely nice? Or is this a tactical advantage? 

I won’t bore you any longer with my defenses and opinions for the webtoon. I’ll just dive right into the yandere types and possibly talk about what I might do in the future:

Nell Phantom: This handsome boy is the wolf man of your dreams! He’s powerful, he's smart and he is really good at keeping the harem in line. But beneath his loyalty and regiment-oriented personality he gets possessive and he’s incredibly protective. He’s…one of my favorites~<3He’s the best behaved out of all of them. I wouldn’t change him at all for he’s the unsaid glue of the harem; he keeps even the rowdiest ones in line and I appreciate him for it. He has expressed a desire to…breed but he’s obedient and possibly the most useful in Arianna’s quest.

Prince Efrit: This guy is okay. I’m mad at him because of what he did to Haun…but anyway he’s hotheaded, possessive, jealous, hard-headed, and he’s especially violent. But he’s got big booba so it's okay. He’s got a whole troupe that helps him with intimidation and patrol work which is always nice but all those traits previously mentioned he’s quite the handful. While Nell is your obedient, goal-oriented german shepard this man is your darling affectionate pitbull that will pummel through everyone with that pent up energy. You have to keep him sated if you don’t want him to chip at the other jewels. He doesn’t have the foresight to realize how his actions really hurt Arianna more than anything and for that I would say he’s the most dangerous. 

Haun Beik: My other favorite, this white beauty is so precious but I don’t think he’s fully…bloomed yet. Let me explain. Where he’s from there is a lot of his past that kept him there and even with Arianna it comes back to haunt him. The only really yandere thing he’s done is just kind of hold his own against the other gems (Efrit) and that was mostly unintentional. I think when it comes time he’s the perfect manipulator–able to coax things from his fans and garner Arianna’s divided attention by batting his eyes the right way. As he’s introduced we know he’s not weak and it’d be nice to see that come to play. He may not be able to use it on his definite assaulter (really hate that guy) but he can use it on Efrit at the very least, showing a darker more sinister side that has him fully intent on keeping the princess’s focus on him. There are so many ways his yandereness can go!

Raymond Amber “Lemon”: Mass manipulator and utter masochist. He gets off on the embarrassment and the chase of his relationship with Arianna. But like everyone else he has his own ambitions that he’s very skilled at achieving. He’s also violent as well but not like Efrit he has that foresight about maintaining reputations and the consequences of his actions. He’s perfect in social situations and in combat as long as she teases him some he’s not about to act out. He also seems to thrive in the community of the harem. While he definitely competes with them as well he sees their dynamics clearly and he knows what to say to play in that. He also has expressed quite the interest in Jade and granted some might say that he’s only doing that because Jade reacts the way he does but if you look hard enough perhaps Amber is also interested in Jade.  

Jade Meldian: Now this guy was attained in the jewelry box by more forceful means and did not come as willingly as the others thus he blames Arianna and resents her for it. Now he blames her for some things that happen while at her side, all while pushing away at the occasional observation about her personality that he likes. The way he refuses her is either, in my theory, conducted by a curse or an unfortunate resolution to kill Arianna one day. He’s got potential as a secret yandere that in fact is willing to escape the jewelry box so that he may own Arianna. I know it's a stretch but I kind of like him and it’d be nice to have a yandere that doesn’t exactly love the idea of being another in her harem. Instead developing some twisted goal to make Arianna his own.

There are so many others, I can delve into the others if you ask for it but that's about it. Now there’s a high chance I will write with a premise like this or within this story and what I’m thinking is that the reader is a noble friend, a bit of an oddball outcast that keeps their face hidden in a veil. Nonetheless, Arianna is deeply in love and has full intentions of having you when she becomes empress. So she’ll no doubt spill her desires to her harem who are all quite reluctant about you and each has their own concerns but still commence with the plan. Basically, you aren’t fully hers just yet but she’s able to reveal your face which is actually cursed to make people fall in love. Suddenly the harem and Arianna’s tune changes as it's all made clear about what they need to do–Make Arianna Empress and protect keep watch have (Y/n) of the house of (L/n).

But who knows~just a thought

Z: Major character death–do you ever write/read it? Is there a character whose death you can’t tolerate?

I haven't published any real Major Character Death yet, but I definitely have a few drafts on the back burner. I definitely read it if the emphasis is on the angst and how different characters react and adjust emotionally. (I love some good emotional catharsis) I don't think there's any character who would be off limits for me, provided the story works for me.

Our boy John is just obsessed with fruit. After so many years in deep space with no fresh food, it’s really just his favourite thing to eat. 

His favourite cocktail, a Jovaian Sunspot, has orange juice in it. 

He’ll often just produce an orange out of his pocket and just start eating it in the middle of meetings - typically a mandarin orange and yes, Susan, there is a difference. 

John isn’t a huge fan of chocolate; whenever he and Delenn go out to dinner, he often gets the fruit salad for dessert unless there is a specific fruit-related option.  Emerson Briggs-Wallace, the owner of Fresh Air, always makes sure there’s at least one fruit related dessert whenever the President is on-board. Lemon Meringue is a particular favourite. 

When John and Delenn begin reading David bedtime stories, John’s favourite to read is Paddington Bear. There have been several afternoons where the President is ‘in a meeting’ but has taken his wife and son off to the gardens to read - each with a marmalade sandwich in tow. 

At their home on Minbar, there are dozens of fruit trees in the grounds. Alongside their wedding bands as part of the Minbari wedding ceremony, Delenn gifted John an orange tree to plant. Their housewarming gifts were mostly candles and seeds. 

Still, as time grows on, John finds an affection for a different kind of fruit. The small red berries used as part of the Rebirth ceremony become his go-to snack food. Easy to obtain, he’ll often have a small bowl of them on his desk. Or by their bed, when he and Delenn want to play with whipped cream...
