As for Marcy's name translating to god of war, for some reason my brain always sorta associated it hinting how war started in amphibia, one that did (unintentionally) forge through Marcy's hands via Andrias

Ok, rant time since it's like my first ask which isn't about reblog games or some support scam:

All Calamity Girls represent each of the race they were send to in their eternity. All the wars invasions and conflicts started with newts. Down from Valeriana and her order creating the Calamity Box that would be later used to conquer the other worlds which would be directly under the command of the Newt dynasty Andrias belonged to (all 3 races contributed though, much like all 3 girls came together to waste their lives together, and sure Sasha was the ultimate control freak, but it was Marcy who "always had a plan" according to Sash and both Sasha and Marcy bonded over pragmatic understanding that Anne is too "nice" (granted it's usually Sasha perceived as mean, Marcy as nice and Anne as in-between, it's more so about Anne being moral to Sasha's immoral and Marcy's amoral) and she should go along with their schemes like them throwing dance parties + Marcy also always inviting Sash and Anne to do stuff with her even if they weren't interested). And of course the aftermath of Leif's betrayal in which Andrias started Amphibia's racism and used newts specifically to uphold such a system by making them in charge and most privileged, and then leading another invasion on Earth which was basically a war to end all wars.

Because as I said, Marcy represents the newts, she also kickstarts all the conflicts in the show. She got all 3 of them stuck in Amphibia, which finally made Anne confront Sasha, all of their misadventures, and finally enabled Andrias to lead the invasion to Earth by supporting him. And we shall also not forget about Darcy, who while not the same person as Marcy, is still part of her character. Darcy's color scheme also matches the planet Mars which is where the part of "God of War" in Marcy's name comes from, whereas Marcy's normal color scheme represents the Planet Earth, ironic considering she was the least eager to come back to Earth. Darcy of course was the ultimate Mastermind behind the invasion and the tradition of starting wars. Darcy was one of the final bosses of Amphibia to defeat, the one representing the ultimate consequences of how far the toxicity of all 3 girls could've gone.

So yeah, personality-wise Marcy may not seem like she would suit her name, heck people probably would think she should be more like Athena. However without doubt the name of Marcy Regina Wu fits her actual role in the story, even if it wasn't exactly her willing choice. Though it's not like she doesn't have it in her, I mean she is a gamer who always slays-

Bork, I feel like fore the Sashannarcy dynamic for the finale, it’s the true meaning for “if you love something you got to let it go”. But this term is more subjective, to me, if you love something but it hurts the thing, you have to let it go for them. I feel like the reason Sasharcy is so much closer than they are with Anne (from what’s implied) is because Anne needed time to really think about her identity after amphibia. she sort of relayed on the planters, just a bit. What’s your take?

So the ending to me is very interesting. I have seen a few people discuss the merits of the flash-forward, of the idea of the trio separating, and it gave me a specific memory back in May 2021 over my friend and I's discussion over the trio's aftermath.

And here is my main verdict:

The slow drift of the trio was a very realistic yet optimistic way to go about tackling their aftermath post-Amphibia.

The trio had been friends for a long time. That is for certain. We have seen the trio fight together in an anime reunion, we have seen Anne and Sasha talk in episodes like Sasha's Angels over residue from their friendship. However, from personal experience, the baggage and codependency from the trio's past interactions still need to be taken into consideration.

After all, Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy confirmed that only a month had passed since Sasha and Anne had started healing their friendship, and even then ten or so years of codependency is understandable. That's a lot of past interaction to parse through as a growing, coming-of-age teen learning to set boundaries for themself.

If one had been in a codependent relationship where betrayals and forgiveness were encountered and given, there still would be a lot of residue left. And for the girls, they would have to learn how to transition out of it. However, this doesn’t mean that they separated completely from the beginning, or even became fully separated if I wanted to be frank.

From what the flash-forward implied, it seemed that Sasha, Anne, and Marcy did interact a lot in the beginning years, but as different pathways and social groups opened up to them the trio started to deviate. And to be fair, this is a pretty realistic portrayal. You can't really stop a friend from choosing the paths they know are encouraging them to grow — and it doesn't show that Anne put these two at arm's length. It just means that the trio kept up-to-date with one another, but as time went on, as they went through high school, college, and jobs, they began to get busier and busier.

Their texts and communication were probably still there, but not as frequent as they'd like. This is implied by Marcy asking Sasha about her interactions with Anne or about Sasha's psych degree, it doesn't sound like what a close friend would ask unless Anne completely fell off the radar or if all three hadn't been keeping up to date with one another except for a few hangouts or webcomic reads now and then, but I digress.

What is important is that this deviation allows for the girls to naturally grow into their own identities and support systems outside of each other.

They took on piercings, taught themselves about what career paths they wanted, got to do webcomics, helped out kids, bought a car, realize what makes them happy, and everything. They began to dive into different friend circles that fit with them, into what adults wanted to experiment with their newfound awareness, and overall carve their lives out as they go.

They formed into new people from their experiences with Amphibia, naturally taking shape when they got back to Earth, and came back together as a friend group of their own accord rather than through tragedy.

And the thing is that this was all by choice.

They chose to reunite, they chose to hang out again. They chose to catch up on their lives despite the natural separation and distance, and that is the most realistic portrayal of a friendship I could ever describe to you.

What kind of luck do you think each of the calamity trio has on the dice rolls when they RP?

Marcy has average luck but she very much has several large bags filled with dice and another bag labeled “dice jail” for those that rolled nat 1s in a row.

Sasha has poor luck and has rolled more nat 1s then she wants but it’s usually for combat and charisma based rolls (seducing the DM, ie Marcy, never works). She also has a single large dice bag filled with dice that she likes the aesthetics of but only really uses her pink, bi, and calamity trio set

Anne rolls more nat20s then Marcy has seen in her life DMing or playing and she can’t figure out why. Another reason this is baffling is because it’s never for combat but for mundane things usually during downtime sessions. Anne has a few sets of dice that Marcy gifted her but Anne really only uses her blue set

Three-Stars-Mark AU

I already posted this AU on Twitter but forgot to give it here

I apologize in advance if the descriptions are done very quickly, but I did them while I was away and wanted to finish them

Marcy

Lady Olivia, along with a group of dignitaries, went on a royal hunting trip, (entertainment for the upper class, simply put) to the nearest wilderness. Olivia was not fond of this type of entertainment, so when they decided to take a break, she decided to move a bit away from the group to stay in the peace of nature. The sounds of stomping and moving between bushes caught her attention. At first she thought it was some animal, but to her surprise it turned out to be a little girl. They were in the middle of the wilderness, and she couldn't find the child's parents anywhere, so she took the child with her.

It turned out that the girl did not remember at all where she originally came from or where her family might be, but she remembered her name well - Marcy Wu. In addition, there were a few more unusual things about her. On her left wrist was a stamp of 3 stars. Marcy was also carrying a green crystal that appeared to glow. But the strangest thing was the ability the girl had - she could move things around her by the power of her mind or make them levitate.

Olivia liked Marcy very quickly and did not have the heart to give her up to the orphanage, so she decided to take her in. One could say that Olivia became like a mother to her. The child was also introduced to King Andrias, who was very amused by the girl's curious nature, but his attention was most attracted by her supernatural abilities and the mark with 3 stars, as he remembered these signs from an ancient prophecy that the Core had told him (but about that some other time).

Marcy grew up in the royal court. Through her curiosity and eagerness to learn, she gained a great deal of knowledge and was an extremely respected person, although she was best known for her clumsiness and frequent (accidental) getting into trouble. She could also talk for hours about her favorite books and stories. She also created her own.

Thanks to her achievements and intelligence (come on, on the part of the king, these weren't the only reasons), it was decided that on Marcy's 18th birthday she would be honored with the title of princess, and thus be the future heir to the throne. (I'll do a little comic about this in a little while).

As for Marcy's magical abilities, she is largely able to control them and use them to her advantage. However, the powers can manifest when she feels intense emotions (for example, when she is upset things around her can chaotically spin and float creating chaos). The stronger the emotion, the stronger the power.

Anne

One night, as work on the farm was coming to an end along with the day. Suddenly HP noticed a figure wandering around his plot of land.

In HPs field he found a little girl. She looked lost and looked like she had been wandering in the woods for a few days. The old man felt sorry for the girl's condition and decided to take her to his home. There he gave her his place and helped her bring herself to order. The girl didn't know where she was from and had no place to return to, so HP decided to take her in. As he noticed later, the child had the mark of 3 stars on her left wrist. She had something else - an unusual power. It turned out that she could control the vegetation around her.

Together with HP, his two grandchildren lived with him in his house. Polly and Sprig. Anne formed a bond with them in a rather quick time, they became like siblings to each other.

As for the powers, as you can guess, they came in very handy when living on the farm. And this is VERY true. The crops provided quite a good income for the whole family. Anne herself established her small local business as, she set up an herb store. In addition, she also learned to use her power when she has to fight. And, of course, her powers can manifest uncontrollably when intense emotions are felt.

(And she also had a crystal with her)

Sasha

Grime and his group of warriors set up camp in the wilderness, as they were on their way to one of the Towers. Several of his men went to scout the area, checking for any danger, etc. All they found was a little lost girl. They thought she was a child from a nearby village, so they tried to chase her away, but she kept following them. Eventually the group gave up and they decided to take her with them.

At the camp, they learned a few things about her. Such as the fact that her name is Sasha and she doesn't know where she came from. However, the biggest surprise for them was that she could make fire.

"Introduced" Sasha to Grim, who, although at first he considered her a brat and wanted to get rid of her as soon as possible, later became quite attached to her and took her in as his daughter.

And so she grew up among warriors and constant expeditions and violence. (Man, I need to describe her more, but that's pretty general for now).

As for her powers, she can control fire. Although, as with the other girls, her powers can manifest uncontrollably when she feels intense emotions. She has learned to use these powers to her own advantage in battle (for example, she can heat up a sword blade so that it is hellishly hot).

(I forgot to mention this, but she also had a crystal with her. It was red in color. And her left wrist also bore the symbol of 3 stars)

With the way you describe Sasha evolution in the AU, did you planned to make the narrative more Sasha centric in particular?

Not in particular.

It's just I had more ideas to explore and share with her that with Marcy for now.

For me, the calamity trio will be obvioulsy the main narrative but each girls will go throught a unique path.

So, it's more like we could spend a couple of chapters with one girl, then switch to another with a relative same amount of chapters.

So, nope, no girl will be more important or centric that the two others ^^

I love all three of the Calamity Trio so much, but if I had to go with one, I think it'd have to be Anne. Miss Boonchuy, blue character ever, heart of the group,,, she truly means so much to me 💙💙💙 Ofc, Sashannarcy as a whole is always my ideal pairing (it's them it's always them etc etc), but my personal favorite corner of their polycule is Sasharcy (Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu, for other people who might be new here). Seems a little strange given that Anne is my fave girl, I know, but there's just something about their dynamic that is soooooo interesting to me. That depends on the level of "fancy outfits". Anne would have some nice outfits, both Thai and western. Sasha would have both fancy dresses and suits along with her normal tanktops and shirts. Marcy's most fancy stuff is cosplay stuff and a few nice outfits from her parents and her girlfriends/wives (as she prefers nerd/comfy clothing)

It’s now been 2 years since the ‘AMPHIBIA’ episodes The Dinner/ Battle of the Bands aired. Honestly, the last two normal episodes until the show changed forever and they’re great episodes ofc! I miss the frog show so much. I love TGAMM, The Owl House, Moon Girl and such, but Amphibia truly was something special and I hope Matt Braly is up to something new and cool.

i have...complicated feelings about amphibia. it IS a good show and i enjoyed it, but the stuff i didn't enjoy really bugged me. the ending was a HUGE letdown for me, for example, which sucks because the emotional beats that worked REALLY worked, but the stuff that didn't? oof.

i think that's a good summary of my thoughts: when it was good, it was REALLY good. but when it wasn't so good. well. oof.

that being said it DID give me hopediah plantar and for that i shall always be grateful.

Fun fact: calamity trio was originally going to be 15 years old high schooler but disney asked matt to make them 13 years old middle schooler to make them more similar to their target audience
