hello to every excited player out there

i just finished the crossover episode and omg it’s actually so good 🫠 i can’t be more excited now…… i really loved the fact that we could discover the personality of each new crushes through real conversations instead of the 6 lines profile i’ve been reading a little thousand times now on the website

idk if you were there in mcl high school time (aka the golden era) but the headcanons on tumblr were like so trendy and ngl i LOVED them - it helped me relate more the characters yk

Some redesign ideas for our new LIs (part 1/5)

Like many people, I was quite disappointed by the look of our new crushes. The outfits are a bit dated and don't really compliment the characters. And even if I agree that we are not all obliged to be on the cutting edge of fashion, I think that a little more effort could have been made to at least have more timeless looks. I hope that the team is taking into account the different comments made by the fans about the characters' appearances. They seem to be taking our feedbacks a little more seriously than on CL and LL, so I thought why not contribute with some quick moodboards for each character.

(I'm not an artist, but if anyone ever wants to sketch these ideas, I'd really like to see them.)

Devon, is none other than the founder and boss of Devenementiel. He appears as a pleasant and friendly person, with a little quirky touch that makes all his charm. But it's a whole other story once you see him in the line of duty. Indeed, Devon loves nothing more than winning challenges, and he is extremely effective when he gets down to it. However, reconciling work and love is a challenge that he does not seem to have succeeded to date.

Besides a messy color palette, Devon's outfit doesn't really reflect the few elements we know of his personality. Described as an approachable character with a touch of quirkiness, we really don't get that feeling from his overly tight suit. Knowing that we work in the event industry, and moreover in a start-up environment, I think that Beemoov would have shown our CEO very well in a more casual outfit. This would also help to add an even greater contrast between him and his rival Jason, who looks a bit more like the conventional CEO we are used to see in romance games/fictions.

For his everyday look :

Colorful loose cotton or linen shirt

Sleeves always rolled up because it helps him to concentrate better while working

Pants in a casual cut for more comfort

Maybe some crazy socks ?

Sneakers : could easily see him as a collectionneur.

When he needs to wear something a bit more formal for a client meeting or else :

Colorful costumes in flowing fabrics so he stays comfortable during tough negotiations.

Wears a t-shirts or jumper to break with the strict look of his suits

Sneakers or moccasins for a more dandy look

I haven't gone through his hair and accessories, even though they could also be improved. But what do you guys think ? Any other ideas ?

I head canon Zuko nicknaming Asng something frog related with how he jumps with his airbending, especially when travelling through the canopies

Oooo that would be so cute!! Tbh I’ve really been wanting Zuko to come up with a nickname for Aang because Aang always calls him “hotman” lol, but I’ve really had a hard time thinking of one. Badger frogs do exist in the Fire Nation, so maybe that would be a good option? Idk lol.

I’d like to think that later on when they’re an established couple, Aang sometimes calls Zuko “my turtle duck” or something, and while Zuko acts like it pisses him off with how cutesy/cringey it is, it secretly makes him feel giddy on the inside lol.

Why I don’t like nor ship Z/tar/a 🔥🚫💧

From a canon perspective:

I like Katara and Zuko as characters independent from each other. I feel that there is no need for them to be romantically involved.

The show had already given me much incentive as to why I feel for Katara and Aang’s relationship. Them being together in the end after episodes of buildup just makes more sense to me.

I’m not the biggest Maiko shipper, but I still feel Mai is still a better fit for Zuko than Katara. Sure, both of them lost their moms, but both Zuko and Mai grew up in the fire nation within abusive households. I’m sure those two would have a LOT more to relate to than “I lost my mom” But then got her back years later.

I just really can’t see Zuko wanting to be in a relationship with Katara. Like- I know Zuko has no romantic interest in Katara (and vise-versa) and it just feels really OOC for (both of them) to be in relationship with each other. Hell, we even see TWICE that the idea of them being a pairing disgusts them/makes them uncomfortable.

From a fandom perspective:

The ZK fandom’s harassment towards KA shippers for the last two decades. Their intrusive behavior and overall toxicity has killed any incentive for me to be intrigued by the idea of them as a couple. Coming across fanart of the two of them in a romantic setting makes me physically ill.

I’m repulsed by the idea of Katara marrying into the family that was responsible for the genocide of her own.

The way she’s oversexualized in the fandom, be it in her FN garb or her being tied to a tree.

The fandom reducing her to an abused housewife/baby-maker that needs Zuko’s saving.

Zuko being over-glorified as if he still doesn’t have some internalized racism that needs to be addressed. I love him- but he’s still problematic trash.

The fandom’s need to demonize or infantalize Asng- just because Katara was the one she CHOSE to be with.

Really, any other Zuko ship that doesnt involve Katara (or his own goddamn sister, Azula) I can vibe with.

TLDR: The ship makes the characters come off as completely OOC for me and the fandom is obnoxiously toxic. I’m already devoted to Kataang and there are better Zuko ships out there.

I really like the fleshed out personalities each element bender has in Avatar. It’s a big cultural connector and it influences sub-bending forms in a big way. Each element has their default personality, based on how Iroh teaches Zuko; but each element can warp and change based on the personality of its user and the wisdom they receive on their journey through life.

Asng and most other airbenders can use air in little games, like gliding or air scooters. That’s because air is the element of freedom, to make what you want with it and to have no concrete appearance. Zaheer, on the opposite end, uses air as a weapon, because freedom means something different to his character. He unlocks flight by studying the more spiritual and detached views of airbending that the older monks have, and if Aang weren’t so focused on the world, love, and the joys of living (as was his duty) he might have learned this power. Air can be both lethal and frivolous.

Water is definitely more concrete in its personalities because of its states of matter AND in the ways of both polar tribes. The South Pole focuses on its liquid form and for using it more as a resource to fight or for fishing. We don’t see much of Southern waterbender culture aside from Hama and Katara, so this one is more speculative. Southern waterbending is about survival and being loose with your movements, while Northern Water tribe style focuses on swift, calculated movements to freeze opponents and bend the ice. Healing is also a pivotal part of Northern Water tribe culture. Southern style is survivalist and tough, while Northern style is crisp, calculated, and nurturing in its two lines of skill. We see this in Katara’s many bending forms, Hama’s backstory, and Pakku’s lessons.

Earth is both sturdy and malleable. Across all forms, all compositions, rocks are still rocks. They can look different, be it crystals or coal, but at its core it is still a rock. And that’s basically what makes up earthbending; the idea of unyielding strength in the face of adversity. You move the rock or the rock moves you. Toph illustrates this best in her invention of metalbending: that even though the ore has been purified, at its core it is still a rock. The rock can be moved, and dammit she WILL move the rock.

Fire is two things: destructive and nurturing. Fire is all consuming, painful, and powerful, but it can also be a place of warmth, light, and comfort. Iroh and Ozai respectively are the two that best embody each trait of fire: the hearth and the destruction. Iroh can be destructive, but ultimately chooses warmth, love, and serenity over Ozai’s brash and tempestuous nature to destroy. Zhao, Azula, and countless other firebenders give in to their natural trait to let fire consume everything, to let it spread and seek until it fizzles out. And what happens? They fizzle out, like wildfires eventually do. Zhao’s drive led him to be pulled into the spirit worlsd, and Azula was mentally cracked and has since not found her way back to sanity. (Where’s my kid?? The comics left her to rot, you bitches!!) The best fire, like Iroh, is controlled and peaceful, providing warmth and light from a safe distance. Zuko learns that over the course of his journey, and the dragons teach him that fire is not always destruction, but a warm place to rest and heal.

Beemoov seems to have finally listened to the complaints that fans have been making for years with this new Candy. I can't wait to find out more about the personality system + the customization of the illustrations (I still haven't forgotten the excuse they gave us for CL when they said that they couldn't customize the skin color AND the hairstyle of our Candy because it was too much work for them).

I'm a bit disturbed by the new art style, but I guess it's because I was expecting something similar to the original MCL. The chara design does seem to ressemble to the illustrations we've been having lately so, while I'll definitely miss the anime/manga art style of our avatar, maybe the appearance of our new Candy will be a bit more consistent in New Gen.
