thought about combining some of my yiga stories with the rewrite so

what if i took this old design for Ramuda (the thief that hid the clothing you can find in botw; i made him be the second founder of the yiga alongside koga) and used him as the boss of the shadow temple?

(in my yiga stories koga is a monk from back when the first calamity happened, after being hunted down by the royal family as their tech was being banned he and Ramuda founded the yiga; ramuda was a researcher and developed a way to seal malice into tattoos to make use of its life preserving and combat enhancing abilities; they used it first on themselves and it wasnt quite right yet the malice wasnt sealed enough within the tattoos and started to affect their mind leading them to get overtaken by their hatred for the royals and attempting to assassinate the king of their time, failing and being killed by the princess, hence the hole in his head, but they didnt die, the malice kept them alive but only in a zombie like way, they werent themselves anymore and were imprisoned in secret by the royal family- koga finished the research and used the more refined tech to do the same to himself which is why he is still alive to this day, side effects being mostly his extreme need for sleep, memory loss and loss of control when a bloodmoon hits)

so my thought was that the shadow temple is located beneath the akkala fort, but extremely hidden and kept a secret, the fortress being made in the first place to have constant control of it to make sure no one can even accidentally discover the dark secret the royal family of the past had kept (similar to the og shadow temple bc tbh it fits well into it all) ramuda being kept in an arena like cell at the end of it as he grew more agressive over time (id want to redesign them for this purpose but not by much, add more rot as they have been down there for centuries, and some sort of shackles, perhaps give him back arms that are shackled and in phase two they break free driven by the rage of recognizing that zelda is of royal blood once you defeat him they fall on their knees and start to disappear, but now that the malice is gone, and although they have no face left yet still recognize koga, weakly reaching for him with one hand, koga grabs it and as ramuda is already half gone his hand tightens the grip before disolving fully

even without spelling everything of this backstory out i think it work well as its clear koga had a personal connection to the person that turned into the boss and i think thats a realyl good thing, gives way more weight to it than just another mindless monster

a little more unsure is where the enigma stone was kept but one idea i had is that it was used to power whatever mechanism was put in place to keep ramuda locked in there, the only reason getting into the shadow temple at all being that it got damaged during the cataclysm and wasnt fully functioning anymore

Is Redfeather Etharis mother?

I just read the new short story about Rayla in Scumport, where we were introduced to this wonderful new MILF character, Redfeather:

Some things we learned about her:

She’s a moonshadow elf

She has matted messy hair

She has pale markings and likely has a darker complexion (“like shining leather”)

She was ghosted about 15+ years ago

She doesn’t regret the thing(s) she was ghosted for

Now 15+ years ago doesn’t place her at any important events that we know of yet. Rayla would’ve been 0-2 years old at the time, so it probably doesn’t connect to her. The whole ordeal with Sarai getting killed by Avizandum happened about 10-12 years prior, so it couldn’t be connected to that.

But you know who would’ve been in a very interesting age back then?

Ethari and Runaan

Ethari and Runaan were once referred to as “uncle-ish” age, which the show runners have clarified means somewhere between 30-35 years old. That means Ethari and Runaan would’ve been 15-20 years old at the time when Redfeather got ghosted by her village. And as we all know, 15-20 is the perfect age for fictional characters to get traumatized✨

One theory I had was that she was somehow involved with the assassins (target? Former assassin? Who knows) and that her crime, which somehow affected a younger Runaan, got her ghosted. But that is a theory for another time.

What caught my attention first was the specifics of her description.

Pale markings and “leather colored”(darker) skin

When it comes to the colors of markings, moonshadow elves tend to have very deep or even dark blue/purple markings. Ethari is the only moonshadow elf we’ve encountered till now who has significantly lighter, or paler, lavender colored markings amongst moonshadow elves.

This means that Redfeather having specifically PALE markings would be significant, if the paleness is referring to the color.

Another point is the eyes

While Redfeathers and Etharis face’s aren’t THAT similar, the eyes very much ARE

Look at that shape! Look at the lashes! Look at the curved lower lids! If this doesn’t mean anything, then this would be one heck of a coincidence for eyes to be drawn THAT similarly.

Another reason I like this theory isn’t just because of looks and appearances, but also because it could explain a bit about Etharis behavior regarding ghosting family members and strong feelings about abandonment.

See, when Rayla first comes back to the Silvergrove, one of the first things he says to is:

“They’re gone Rayla. He’s gone. Because you abandoned them.”

And later on, when he briefly lifted the ghosting spell to talk to Rayla, he says again:

“But I don’t understand, how could you abandon them like that?”

On a similar note, in the novel the bloodmoon huntress, when Runaan realizes that Kim’Dael is out there, there isn’t even a question about wether or not Ethari is coming along; he said right away “I’m coming with you”. He was NOT gonna stay- or be left behind. It’s like he has some very deep rooted issues surrounding abandonment, and being left behind. Maybe because his mother had to leave him when he was young? Or maybe pertaining to the crime she committed, where she left someone behind and surrendered them to their doom? Who knows…

And yet, for someone who has such strong feelings about someone being left behind, he was very quick to ghost Rayla. Yes he regrets it, and yes it was a decision made with feelings and grief and not his sound and sensible mind. But regardless of how much he regrets it now, he still ghosted her for “abandoning her team (and Runaan)”, and he seemed very sure of that choice at first.

If we looked at him as a regular person, a godfather who loved and cherished his goddaughter, and had raised her since the age of 8, this behavior doesn’t make any sense!

But if we look at him as someone who’s had to do it before, someone who had to learn long ago that family ties don’t excuse crimes, and that sometimes you need to cut out and ghost those closest to you - like say, your own mother-, well then it makes sense why he was able to do that to his goddaughter, even if he regretted it later…

And a final point close this whole theory off, though it is more of a meta textual point:

Ethari rarely gets talked about by the creators of the show. He was maybe mentioned here and there in the past, and on Twitter Aaron Ehazs promised that they hadn’t forgotten about Ruthari. So any mention of him that actually includes his name and something other than „he’s Runaans husband/Raylas substitute dad“ is pretty special and rare to find outside of the graphic novel Bloodmoon huntress . But in this new short story, he wasn’t just mentioned by name; he was specifically described along with his profession, his crafting.

And the first time that Ethari gets mentioned again outside of the bloodmoon huntress is when a new Moonshadow elf with eyes almost identical to his gets introduced.

Eljaal

We've got several glimpses about Rayla's training as assassin and we didn't see Eljaal. Rayla watched Runaan train the assassins in the Bloodmoon Huntress but Eljaal is not part of them, the assassins were the ones who went to the assassination mission against Harrow and Ezran. In Chasing Shadows Rayla mentioning her training with Andromeda and Skor, but they were in the mission.

Silvergrove doesn't feel like a huge place so probably all the assassins are train together, so that means Eljaal is from Hollow Wood? Because if they were from Silvergrove they should have train with Runaan as well right?

Dude, why do you think that all of us who don't like Eclipse are just because he killed Lunar?

I don't like Eclipse because he tried to kill Gregory using Sun body.

I don't like Eclipse because he manipulated Roxy mind (Regardless of how things ended after that, he intention was NOT good)

I don't like Eclipse because he created an assassin to free himself from him confinement and then just forgot about they when ran away until that assassin came back to bite him ass.

I don't like Eclipse because he used the Bloodmoon massacre as a weapon against Sun making him believe that he had killed those children.

I don't like Eclipse because he harassed Sun as if the guy couldn't get enough with his toxic brother (I'm not here to say who's worse)

I don't like Eclipse for worsening the situation Sun and Moon were in when they started the channel.

I don't like Eclipse for creating Lunar (That's right! I don't like Lunar!)

I don't like Eclipse for locking Sun and Moon in their heads and programming Moon jail so that she would suffer pain every time Lunar moved.

I don't like Eclipse for wanting to remake the world in its bad taste.

I don't like Eclipse because he is an egomaniac with a God complex.

I don't like Eclipse because in the universe where he won, turned Sun into a servant who he abuses physically, mentally and verbally just for his sadistic pleasure.

I don't like Eclipse being a headache for the family regardless of whether he is alive or dead.

I don't like Eclipse because he manipulated Sun into breaking Moon computer so the Kill Code could be released in Moon.

I don't like Eclipse because when he had the chance to make the first good decision after freeing himself from the computer where he was locked up, didn't do it, he went back to the unpleasant behavior and the obsessive plan of him with the star.

I don't like Eclipse because his moments of weakness are as forced as the plot convenience that he no longer wants to remake the world but simply waste the star power annoying Sun and Moon (Pathetic)

I don't like Eclipse for insulting Earth

I don't like Eclipse because even though he had the opportunity to properly warn Sun and Moon before his death about the dangers that were coming, he didn't do it, AND DON'T SAY THEY DIDN'T GIVE HIM A CHANCE, both Sun and Moon forced themselves to listen to him for a moment, but he told one that he would only talk to Moon and he literally told the other that they should kill Lunar without giving more details. He preferred to take the really valuable information to the grave!!!

I don't like Eclipse because even today his personality is based on being an arrogant, crazy cretin who only lives to insult like the unbearable school bully.

And finally I don't like Eclipse because of many of its adoring fans.

You see, there are plenty of reasons for someone to dislike Eclipse, and Lunar doesn't even have to be involved in the equation.

The Apocalypse au

🔲 General background:

The story takes place in a chain store built by Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in a city in country A. The usual activities are daytime and nighttime stage performances. In fact, each play only has three characters, because in this AU, like the original work, the sun and moon share the same body, which can be converted according to natural light. Bloodmoon is an individual, and Eclipse have his own entities.At first, the daycare center did not have Bloodmoon, Eclipse played the villain before Blood Moon arrived. He was originally quite versatile, proficient in physical exercises and using swords and spears, but after Blood Moon arrived, playing a new script reduced his fighting role, so his abilities became increasingly rusty. As the commuting time on weekdays decreased during solar eclipses, he used his free time to self-study divination (he loved all mysterious and supernatural factors). In order to cater to the children's preferences (which may be a more reasonable excuse from someone), Blood Moon was invited to replace the villain position of Eclipse. In the script, he played the cruel and unruly king, with Sun and Moon being soldiers and archers who were ordered to assassinate the tyrant. They were very popular among children and even nicknamed (Smiley Knight/Frost Moon Archer). Of course, there are also some children who like Bloodmoon, which is why after Blood Moon began his tyranny in the later stage, he would prefer the term 'Sir Bloodmoon' instead of 'king'. This is the honorific title given to him by his children who like him. He wants to make his subjects feel close to the people while exercising his tyranny, in order to further utilize it. He does not have much hostility towards the children, Perhaps he thinks this group poses little threat to his plan, and he likes to scare them for fun.On the evening of Bloodmoon's seventh performance, Moon first realized something was wrong with Blood Moon (or perhaps he had been pretending to be too perfect). Out of long-term interests and a bit of his own quirk, Blood Moon left a mark on Moon's face (which is also the origin of the scars on Sun/Moon's face)

🗡 Sun:

Body color (including performance clothing): Mainly red, orange, yellow, and blue (there are too many colors on his pants, giving a rainbow like feeling).

•He has good swordsmanship. Whenever he performs, you will see him carrying his Western sword and shield with him. The sword is a performance tool, so it cannot cause substantial damage.

•He always squints and smiles, even when facing enemies. He wants to leave an impression of a brave and confident sunny boy.

•The scar Bloodmoon left on his left eye made him feel more like a tough guy. He secretly liked it, but it couldn't stop him from disgusting Bloodmoon.

•Character: lively, optimistic, brave, humorous, competitive, outgoing, and talkative.

• Hobbies: Interacting with children, practicing swordsmanship, covering Moon like a brother (but in fact Moon has a more mature mind), sharing daily updates with Moon, beer (not good but fond of drinking), keep himself clean and handsome.

🏹 Moon:

Body color (including performance clothing): Mainly in blue, purple, and beige.

•He is skilled in archery, with a shooting rate of not 100%, but close to it. Although he knows he is an actor and has low expectations, his perfectionism drives him to do his best, and he also has a vague premonition that he will come in handy one day.

•He has good accuracy and using a good gun is not a problem for him, although he has not had any contact before in the later stage.

•He is not suitable for close combat, and if he is discovered by the enemy and is very close, he has little ability to fight back.

•Character: Brave, cautious, astute, introverted, and steady.

• Hobbies: keep a diary , watch the children play and fight at a high place, watch the outside world through the glass, snow, Gingerbread man, Eggnog, and tell the children about the legend of Christmas.

🍷 Bloodmoon:

•Body color (including performance clothing): Mainly red, white, black, and gray, seemingly symbolizing something.

• He is skilled in using all kinds of firearms and has a good sabre technique.

•He likes to look at others with a smile on his face, full of malice. Sometimes his ferocious smile combined with his blood red eyes can make people feel creepy.

•His performance prop is a royal scepter, although it is simulated, he does not dislike it, just look good. Before the later stage, the small bag around his waist had always been a place to hold knives. Before the later stage, he often carried two knives, one was a simulated dagger used for perfunctory performances, and the other was a Malay sword.

•In an inconspicuous corner of his room, the wall was filled with traces he had carved to calculate the date. He calculated everything so meticulously that he had already properly reserved the rest place the first time.

•When he first arrived, the solar eclipse had a partnership with him,He is calm and skilled in disguise, always carefully observing everything around him. He is very concerned about Sun and Moon, and also closely monitoring their every move.

•Character: arrogant, ruthless, hypocritical, stubborn, suspicious, trustworthy, cunning, and rebellious.

• Preferences: Tequila, billiards, gambling, pranks, tasting the expression of the enemy's pain and despair, torturing/playing/challenging the enemy, wandering around for fun.

🔮 Eclipse:

• Body color (including performance clothing): Mainly red, yellow, and black

•He played the only villain role before the arrival of Blood Moon, and even if he had some malice towards Sun/Moon off stage, he would not take the initiative to trouble them unless they met on a narrow path. Compared to this, he is more focused on his own affairs.

•He doesn't like the vast majority of children, feeling that they are too noisy and difficult to discipline. Most children run away when they see him, and there is no opportunity for communication. He won't do anything to children, and he is very gentle towards those quiet and obedient children.

•The tobacco he smokes has a refreshing fragrance that is harmless to the human body but can create some illusions.

•Character: pragmatic, independent, shrewd, withdrawn, and gentle.

• Hobbies: Alone, quiet and enclosed small space, smoking a special type of tobacco, studying theology and metaphysics, meeting his guardian every day and chatting, playing chess, decorating his own room.

Runaan's Last Mission

So with the new season coming up and the confirmation that Kimdael is in season 5 I have a new theory regarding Runaan, Kimdael and why I think that killing her will be Runaan's final mission as an assassin.

You see there are some interesting links between Runaan and Kimdael, both are powerful warriors who have achieved the status of legends in their own lifetimes who have taken a number of lives. However, their statuses as legends are very different, Kimdael achieving her status through her greed and cruelty while Runaan achieved his through his selflessness, desire to protect the weak and his deep love for Xadia.

And then we come to how they both view taking a life. It's interesting to note that both of them discuss and reference the weight of a life in Bloodmoon Huntress:

However it's important to note the differences in these moments. When Runaan discusses the weight of taking a life he describes it as a balance, that taking a life may end hatred and cruelty but it also prevents any change, love and more from happening. He understands that death ends any chance of atonement or redemption and that this is an important weight and truth that every assassin must understand. That all life is important and that taking it must be taken seriously.

Kimdael however interprets the weight of taking a life very differently. Her interpretation is greedy and self serving, the lives that she takes are innocent, only taken to serve her, her desires and goals. She's willing to take anyone she finds, including children if it means that she continues to live and, given what we now know about her, serve Aditi's descendants. She's ignoring the true weight and value of the lives she is taking, only seeing their true potential in death. She has forgotten to value life.

And so it would be very thematically satisfying to see Runaan, someone guided by love and who truly understands what it means when you take someone's life finally end Kimdael, a fellow Moonshadow elf who has turned her back on this belief.

And what makes this worse is that she simply doesn't care about her crimes and cruelty anymore. She even taunts Runaan with the fact that she will kill again because she knows that it will anger and stay with him.

Kimdael has become arrogant, believing that she cannot be killed, that she cannot be stopped (except of course by a member of the Sunfire royal family), especially by a fellow Moonshadow elf.

But this again is another reason why Runaan, with the help of Ethari and Rayla and possibly others must be the one to finally stop her. Because despite her connection to the Sunfire royal family and her exile, she and always will be a Moonshadow elf. And it should be a Moonshadow elf who finally stops her once and for all. To fix the imbalance that she has created in Xadia, in Moonshadow society and within herself. And the one who takes her life, who fixes this balance should be someone who understands this balance, this weight, who feels it deep within themselves everyday of their lives.

Someone who is the complete opposite of Kimdael and someone who would never go down the path she went down. And the elf that best fits this description is Runaan.

It would also be very satisfying to see this be his final mission as an assassin, to finally have the best and most Moonshadow of all Moonshadow elves to defeat their worst, most cruel and corrupted example of themselves. To have a legend of love and protection defeat a legend of cruelty and hate.

And then let that be the end of it, with this final mission to put an end to the worst of their people and one of the most evil elves in Xadia let Runaan retire from his duties as an assassin forever. Let this final mission be his greatest, most important mission, let it be his swan song.

Let it also be his first step towards a new path, a new duty, one which allows him to protect and serve his people without having to kill or to leave his home and the people that he loves.
